Fun fighting CNB around Briar in SoSBL.
I assume you had to pull off once EB capped everything from you but it was fun to see that some tough fighters are still on Kaineng.
Hey Sea of Sorrows, you Missed a Spot, twice!
Take it up with your folks on your own borderlands who left our ninja catas intact after we took NW Tower so we could cap it again 15 min later.
Basically I think all three servers are embarrassing themselves, SoS and EBay with these karma trains (EB even left a karma banner inside SoS Bay this morning) and Kaineng by only fighting 6pm to 9pm both nights.
I don’t know who felt the pain more today, SoS for almost blowing their lead or EBay realizing they ran rampant all day but still couldn’t close the gap.
The one thing I’m pleased about, is that Ebay can field guilds and put up a great fight with even numbers. That’s something we haven’t seen consistently from any of the servers we have faced lately.
SoS fairweathers are getting a wake-up call and hopefully will start investing in some WvW gear and builds.
Props to the Kain goon squad which, at approximately 12:26 am Eastern Standard Time, tried to hide around a building on their borderlands, mighted up, and zerged myself and two companions. It was cute. Obviously the tactical geniuses of Kain decided that 2:1 odds were not enough! Only at 6:1, might stacks, and a veil, were they prepared to take down those three evil SoS fighters.
Thanks for the lulz.
xoxo
grumble
They are working their way up during the week. They’ll be at 3:1 odds by Friday and will be ready to take on YB again by taking advantage of how they never go less than 4:1.
Common DH, don’t tell me you are going to follow your great last week by lettin HoD get you.
Maybe Aeros will stop crying in SoS threads about our nighttime groups after seeing DB’s SEA in action.
Outside of that, looking good BP!
Right after reset in Hills was fun. pk filled my bags in the first 10 min, then just didn’t quit coming. Too bad Kaineng wanted a try at garrison or we could have fought there all night. After that pk and others did a great job holding their corner. Glad to see there some enemies that have a little toughness.
Both servers stepped up there game and it was a good night. Kaineng was pretty tough at Bay.
Also props to the folks who were up late/early from both servers. A BL would turn green and there was no time wasted by either server in taking back real estate. Much better than some higher ranked servers who just quit for the night and then complain about it on the forums.
With Ram mastery confirmed and golem mastery probably a thing before Halloween, it’ll pretty much kill WvW unless some drastic action(s) are taken to give advantages to defenders.
First thing, add a scouting mechanic that allows scouts to ‘ping’ enemy targets on the mini-map to squad members. For every 5 pings while not in combat (to prevent abuse in zerg vs. zerg fights) the scout gets a small ~25 WxP bonus. This will give reason for people to scout and make for better defensive play in WvW.
Next idea, Defense Mastery. While in range of a defensive target, you get bonuses (5% siege damage, +50/50 toughness and vitality, 50/50 power and precision, +15% damage vs siege, All NPCs (range 1200) do +15% more damage)
With all the massive PvE farming, it’s only a matter of time where the encouragement of karma trains > tactics makes WvW pointless.
No one cares if you guys are offended or not. The majority of us on FA are bored.
I was just trying to be nice about it that’s all lol.
I read this and all I can think of is a 1,2,5 matchup in T1 and what he will say then.
GJ CD on pulling ahead with hours to go!
YB, it’s been a pleasure. Real shout out to the LOOT guild, you guys stood out as great adversaries.
DH, you proved that quality WvW doesn’t end at T4 and we really appreciated the way you brought the fight in spite of the score.
May reset treat everyone kindly and no one will be offended if I hope for a completely different matchup.
I say they should turn off random matchups every other week or every 3 weeks so that the “same tier” servers can sort themselves out.
On SoS it’s always either an embarassing down tier battle like this week or a romp with T2 that’s as fun as a root-canal.
I’d love to have a pure T3 matchup and the other two servers in T3 wouldn’t mind it much either (CD would hate the PPT outcome but they’d at least get some good fights.)
I’ll buy a 3 pack and see how much I get a chance to use them. The hours I play are typically not karma train friendly so I don’t see how I could get equal value for the investment though.
Also, might i remind you kindly of the whining after weeks against t2/t1 matches (while ironically we had no problem destroying sbi for 10 weeks in a row in the old system)
No one was enjoying the 10 week stint locked in T4. Everyone was eager to move up and also eager for EB to replace SBI.
All messed up by having DB in T3 pushed us down so hard that it was taking forever to move up, even as Kaineng was imploding and taking forever to lose rating.
It’s a a little different now too btw. DH has been riding an upsurge and enthusiasm, whereas YB is fighting in the headwinds of their drop in fortunes.
Mix that with NA that has been exhausted after weeks of T2 adventures (the DB mega-zerg and the horrible quality of fights we had initially against FA) it’s not surprising that many NA weren’t fired up for the week.
This matchup is so lopsided that it prompted AGG to go to greener GvG pastures.
Either way, thanks to BANE and others for pushing hard the last couple of nights and putting this “SoS only has OCX stuff to bed”.
Welcome to SoS xG, we’ll try to get you all settled in ASAP.
It’s time [PD] steps up their smack talking to us in game PM’s and accepts our GvG challenge. Easy to be forum warriors but [vH] prefers to fight on the field. And don’t even reply back with ‘We are not a GvG guild’, that’s the most pathetic line on GW2. It’s called GUILD wars for a reason.
Wow, and here I was thinking y’all were professional.
1) Blaming the enemy for taking advantage of you and your group for being out of position makes you look like a fool. What did you expect of them, to leave you alone?
2) There is no official GvG in Guild Wars 2. The only thing that the title “Guild Wars” has anything to do with is the lore that goes with the name. It has nothing to do anything in game. Stop vomiting your uninformed garbage around.
3) Instead of saying “We’re not a GvG guild”, the person could have stated “We’re not a guild that dedicates our time to running around in circles with an enemy guild, hoping to kill a couple people before they kill ours”.
When you become somebody, if you ever do…. Your opinion might be worth something.
Champion Wuffa? Really? You don’t know who you are speaking too? And you go ahead and insult a community member? Seriously, apologize to him.
snipped
Folks we have our own site and room for people to discuss this and we need not concern the good folks at YB and DH with internal issues.
Please move this there.
Well… I found all of darkhaven. lol
If you end up in an event zone overflow you’ll probably find SoS.
ANet keeps adding more and more farming events… you can find out this week who on your server is hardcore WvW that is for sure.
If you haven’t heard from any of the reps in the first post by the end of today, feel free to contact me TehFoe and mikelevins and I’ll gladly answer any questions you have.
From the sound of things you would fit in nicely with our server’s WvW community. I have lost count of the number of times commanders in TS (including myself) have asked if we have a small ops group that can take care of small “brushfire” situations on the map only to hear silence.
I’ll give credit to YB on that one, they are the first server we’ve seen that uses Supply traps often and effectively.
T2 on up all have off hours coverage to varying degrees.
T3 all have some off hour coverages but also have some huge coverage gaps.
The only other ones worth mentioning: BP has a Brazillian guild that will typically get on a little bit before EST NA. KN has some nighttime left from the WM rocket days. IoJ and GoM use to have a night game and might have some folks left but I haven’t seen it myself.
TL;DR if you fight T3 or higher, you are going to get rolled in the off hours.
I also believe I speak for all the T3+ servers in saying that we adamantly do NOT enjoy facing mid-tier servers either.
I checked Millenium from work and saw that [lion] is already out there having some fun. Nice to have you guys!
Hopefully, we’ll have something to say very soon that will help this. Although I suppose help is always in the eye of the beholder. Stay tuned.
Lowering map population caps on T2+ servers in 3...2...1
Hmm, we all know that your feelings have been hurt by SoS oceanics, don’t worry you’ll get over it some day.
Someday, true. Perhaps one day we’ll have coverage 24/7. But in a way, I don’t think I want that because then we’ll end up outside the middle tier. I kinda like where we are, with a wide menu of options to fight. Incidentally, good chance we’ll be fighting this friday
Don’t need 24/7 to break out of mid-tier.
I’m interested to see what happens with Maguuma next month once school is back in session and I find out which of my two theories are true. Are they the Teeny-Bopper server or the official home of the Unemployment zerg?
Sorry to see that matchup though, the T2 sandwich is always unpleasant.
As you can all read, Aeros is here to show everyone on the doll where our Oceanics touched him.
BP, keep fighting hard and overtake CD; then you have a good likelihood of meeting a T2 server and maybe you’ll stop crying yourself to sleep over a lopsided match that happened almost a month ago now.
Very nice daytime numbers DH.
Makes me want to see if they can pass YB now.
I’m all for gunning for YB the rest of the week because I’m tired of them PvD’ing Hills then loading it up with a metric crap-ton of siege every day.
Thanks to everyone who made it to our karaoke night.
Apologies to Yak’s Bend for when we ran around your BL naked.
I’m pretty sure I’ll get Zap from the Maw event Chest before Seattle gets a basketball team again.
Wait, had a thief zerg in our BL? When?
It was just a little while last night. We had to go back to our BL because you were hella outmanned there and there’s only so many times you can laugh about scorpion wiring stragglers to death.
I’ll sum this matchup with pictures for the dyslexic:

2. YB
3. DHBoth of you have it wrong. It’s already been established that DH is…

Hate to disagree but it’s well established that TC is the official zombie apocalypse.
DH has a little fight in them though.
How did you guys like the thief Zerg that visited your BL?
Correction, karaoke night is over. Thanks to everyone who made it. We’ll be seeing you guys soon YB and DH
Honestly BP is a better server than you guys(which never put siege at our spawn) lol keep thinking you guys are so great beating a server with no over night crew that refuses to push the other top server in the match up.
Congratulations, unlike most sub-tier 3 servers you made it nearly 26 hours into the match before complaining that the Oceanic Server has Oceanic players!
Why don’t you come up a few tiers and meet Dragonbrand and/or Tarnished Coast then come back and complain about our coverage.
Seriously though, we have a relatively small NA and you should be happy about that. If we and Maguuma hadn’t switched places last week you would have gotten them and not only would you have gotten the off-hours nonsense, but they’d zerg the crap out of the times you are on.
Take a note from your servermates, they are bringing a good fight and look past the score.
Most of the DH guys seem to be taking things in stride, but what’s with Hippo’s kitten?
He does realize that this is all happening during our karaoke night where half our people are either singing drunkenly or getting drunk to stand the singing?
So what’s more embarrassing: a bunch of partiers spawn camping or getting spawn camped by a bunch of people singing in karaoke?
BTW it’s still going on a little longer and YB and DH are invited to join!

Really hoping to get a more competitive match-up. We don’t match up well to any server T3 and above. They seems to hand us our hats in an efficient manner.
But you guys are T3!
Well if nothing else you have good company in this thread, FA can write books about being odd man out in their tier.
I hope Devon does realize that to most people’s eyes, the recent re-focus on WvW is a recent development; one that has yet to produce substantial changes beyond the (very good) introduction of WxP and traits.
Before that, it was just fixes and patches so the WvW focused community of players is not incorrect in feeling neglected; especially given the rapid rate of PvE changes.
Also, as nice as the new traits with every update are, we are fast approaching the point of ridiculousness and that will not be enough very soon.
That’s funny, I got an ascended ring from my very first chest….Guess I won’t be getting a precursor then.
I’m just glad to know it will be addressed.
I was filled with dread at the dev response, and see it’s instead a beacon of sanity.
Thank you!
See how much fun they had this week ANet?! Keep them together for a while.
Sincerely,
T2/T3
Check your tag, it still says new to SF LOL.
Welcome to T3, where we pretend to have bitter rivalries but actually respect each other 90% of the time.
Warriors are big in the new Warbanner meta; but just choose which fits you better. Good way to tell is to try SPvP for a few rounds and find out which one fits your playstyle.
Just as no server has a permanent monopoly on number one (though VS seems to be trying to prove that theory wrong); no server will remain in last indefinitely.
There’s always the train of thought that you can take a last place server and rise it through the ranks.
This is even more attractive given how WxP favors PvD and the idea that a group of 20+ could go to a server like FoW or Vabbi and “speed-level” their character’s Wxp before moving back to where they were (if so inclined).
Look at what happened to Kaineng in NA; they were dead last and got a well-known guild transfer and bandwagoned to #4 before they gave up, but they kept enough people to stay in the mid-tiers.
It’s a synergetic relationship as Guardians provide CC, warriors provide the stuns; Guardians provide the boons, warriors remove the conditions.
I will say that a team of pure warriors is more viable than a team of pure guardians; but a zerg without guardians is nothing more than a bag delivery service to the other side.
It would be a better idea to simply reduce the amount of golem that can be built in a border. Put a limit of 15/20 golems and you will avoid eccessive golem rushes and it’s simplier than changing the doors HP
This ^^^ I like since it should require just a copy and paste of the overall siege code, yet edited only for golems.
That, or add a golem killer traitline that buffs siege you are manning against golems and so on.
Let’s kill three birds with one stone.
Bird 1: We want account-bound WxP
Bird 2: We want to be able to refund WxP
Bird 3: WvW needs more love
Ok, 1 and 2 is giving us a lot of flexibility; yet cuts into the sense of permanence that ANet has stated they preferred in our character development
3 is an oft stated problem, and many people have pointed out that it does not bring in gem sales like PvE; and that may be part of the problem.
Solution: give us an account-wide pool of WXP that can only be assigned once, but can be reset by the use of a consumable that can be purchased 3/100 Gems in the BLTC store.
That makes any reset a very non-trivial decision, but doesn’t "lock" people into a single WvW main character if they decide to mix it up or their guild needs a different profession present.
The payoff is large gem store sales (add Wxp booster for more $$$) and proof to the folks who hold the purse strings that adding development resources to WvW is a great investment for the community and the company’s bottom-line.
Hello Kaedirin,
I believe I saw a few of your folks in last week’s matchup (SoS here).
You’ve recently seen us so you know what our coverage is like and how we don’t give up even in a lopsided fight.
Other than being slightly above your target range, you should check us out if curious.
We take the no drama part of things very seriously (we’ve done T1, we’ve done the all-calls and stuff; we are so past all that now) and we have a great server TS3 that should fit all your needs.
Cheers and good luck wherever you go.
Scouting is the most unrewarding thing to do in this game, especially if it’s stationary scouting.
You literally do not get WXP, karma/money or any other type of compensation that is so typical of MMOs.
It really does need to be made an ingame-thing for that fact alone. You mean like not rewarding scouts ever, so that commanders have to search half an hour every time for the replacement?
If your team/guild/server is so selfish for Wxp and the need for constant rewards (not unlike a Labrador Retriever or a teenager with low self-esteem); then I daresay that they deserve to lose.
It’s a pain to be stuck running an abandoned road in the BL or on an AC, waiting for an attack that can come in 5 minutes or maybe not for hours.
These are the things that you do to be successful in WvW though. You take turns so that the others are getting all that Wxp and loot; so you can go on the offense and take towers and keeps, rather than sitting in a contested garrison all day/night long. You do this so you don’t lose T3 towers and keeps to 6 jokers with a superior ram and spare time.
You don’t scout, you waste the zerg’s time, they’ll stop listening to you, you’ll have objectives getting flipped before you can respond; and it’ll just be a mess.
Lastly, if this wasn’t intentional by the developers; then why did they add a delay for white swords and up the orange swords indicator to 25+ on one side?
Less karma trains and more strategy.
So when JQ left on vacation, they were on the verge of collapse (to hear people put it) and BG seemed unstoppable.
I take it the rest agreed with JQ a bit?
The FA zerg in SoSbl Wednesday afternoon… I’m grateful for the Wxp I got from it but it was a hollow victory recapping our entire BL simply because you realized we weren’t going to give you our garrison and you left to victimize CDbl instead.
I assume the quick responders at Hills on FAbl shortly afterward were the real WvW groups and that was an awesome fight despite it not going our way. Thanks for that brawl.
I’m going to say no, simply because this rewards laziness and crappy teamplay. Commanders on the map should already be having people doing scouting on the map and should be sending people to scout locations before sending the zerg there.
Also the WvW Overlay is a good 3rd party program for team leaders to use to tell timer status (usually buggy for the first 1-2 hours after reset though).
I don’t want any development time to be spent on rewarding poor team organization.
I’m incredibly biased, but you’d probably be a great fit on SoS as we have a huge number of T1 survivors who were with us back when we were there; so we can relate pretty well to how you feel.
Also, we have one of the smaller NA presences so we tend to do a lot more small group actions than other T3-T4 servers.
Either way, good luck with your search.
