Johnny Johnny – Ranger (Ehmry Bay)
Hárvey Wallbanger – Alt Warrior (Ehmry Bay)
Well that is easy Harbinger
Define best.
and seriously nobody can deny that he is one of the best guardians ingame
See, here you go again. Is it really that difficult to understand what people are telling you? Best is subjective. What makes you think he is the best compared to anyone else playing the game today? I mean seriously, how hard is this to understand?
People have asked what he does for the community. Does he post builds? Does he theory craft with other members? Does he critique builds, offer advise to people playing the game and reading these forums? Is he an active member of probably the best forum/community on the GW2 official forums?
Are we talking about America or Europe? Are you going solely based on player vs. player? If so, why? There are achievements and other things to consider when talking about best. There are over 3 million people playing this game and your boy isn’t even ranked one looking at the stats right now. Then again we also all know the reporting criteria in this game is horrid at best.
My advise? Take the constructive feedback, delete the thread, and start over but your mileage may vary I guess. I’ll give you a gold star though for gaining a lot of attention.
And then there is “Too High!!!” which is where I run at about 1490. I should be swapping some items around for a wee bit more DPS if truth be told.
Guys you need to chill, azs is on a team 99.9% of you will never be on, so please show some respect.
Again, why people are pointing out best is subjective. You further muddy the water by saying something asinine has 99.9% of us will never be on a equal caliber team. That my fellow guardian, is silly.
So I assume everyone who hated on the term best must be from team CC or something, because those are the ONLY people who can poo on him right now.
You are reading way to much into this. We simply stated the term BEST is subjective. If you want attention then start threads like this. However, if you want to post something that people will actually watch and provide feedback, then think about how you are displaying or providing the content.
Love when randoms hate on star players like they are even in the same universe.
I can probably name 5 to 10 players on this forum alone who have done more for the guardian community than the OP and the so called “BEST” player. You want to know what the funny thing is? I wouldn’t be alone. I think you are the one that needs to take a step back and reread what people wrote.
If I was the OP, and I’m not, I’d either delete the thread and restart or make changes like people suggested. Ironically those that recommended the changes outweigh those who are calling said people @sshats.
Last three posts alone is why I said my $0.02 worth. Then again, I don’t buy into the whole check out my channel, subscribe, et al.
Anyway, Stunningstyles gets kudo’s because he key clicks On a more serious note the OP should really rethink this whole best thing and look at the forum has a whole. Herein likes many different posters who discuss builds, provide factual information on formulas, debate said formulas, correct them, offer builds, advise, videos, and many other things never which any of them say they are the best. There, I think that about sums it up nicely.
And while it is Football season in the U.S. here is what best could be defined has outside Webster’s. The 1972 Miami Dolphins were the first team in NFL history to go undefeated. I won’t even go into the offensive or defensive stats or running backs with over 1,000 yards. The point is they went from 0 to 17 wins and the Super Bowl.
That, my fellow GW2 player, is what “BEST” is. And I’m not even a dolphin fan, go figure.
You lost me when you placed “Best” in the subject line and title of your video. Best, at best, is subjective.
Where do you get the rune of the monk, I’m not seeing it on the trade?
You get them from doing AC dungeon runs ( in exchange for AC tokens from the dungeon vendor in LA ).
Or you can toss a couple of thousand rare rune stones into the mystic forge and hope you get lucky ( I got three with this method )
Note: Or you can toss a couple of “THOUSAND” rare rune stones into the “MYSTIC FORGE” and “HOPE”
Man, I wish I could do bright red letters and make it flash on this forum Hope would be a good fit for such use. Of course I’m teasing and all, but the thousand and hope part made me giggle a bit. I’m not a huge fan of the forge after it eating 500 or so shields now without passing me a precursor
Basically any class can run away from a guardian :/
First rule of PvP. Don’t chase people that run away.
Second rule of PvP. Re-read rule number one.
I look at it this way. If a player runs away from the fight 1 or 2 things happened. They found out that it would be a draw or take too long to take you out. More important, they found out that you are not a quick and easy kill so leave to find greener pastures. That is honestly what typically happens or at least to me. A guardian shouldn’t be quick nor should they be a easy kill. All that armor weighs a ton…am I right?
Serious here for a second. Chasing or running after people usually nets a quick death. Either by the person you are chasing being quicker and gets their burst skills available again or they lead you to guards or their friends. So I have to ask again, what did you learn here?
Rules 1 and 2 – DON’T CHASE!!!!!
I do agree with what you said Christia but P.E.T.A actually placed a lot of pressure on Arena Net to provide these runes for us. See…..they got a lot of phone calls from the little white creatures that we all like to use to teleport away or towards the front lines of battles. So many parentless baby bunnies, raccoons, and owls shedding tears like rain falling from the heavens. Something had to be done to stop the mindless slaughter!!!!
Bought 36 of them prepatch. Lol
I didn’t know they are available earlier? TP is down so no idea of their cost or it was earlier.
if you don’t use them all…..maybe we can make a deal?
What kind of deal?
A deal deal. maybe he is a republican!
I’m actually going to give them a try only because I’m wee bit over 1450 in healing power and thing the speed will be cool when I’m not using staff. Although I’m usually wearing it during solo play I really don’t has much I guess.
We’ll see on what I end up with and overall cost.
Shield works but focus is probably better in the long run. Having said that the longer you play your guardian the chances are likely that you will have, and carry, each weapon we can use. There are some on this forum, who are active, actually carry multiple of each due to the various sigil options. So….not buttons….there you have it.
I prefer shield when I go DPS which is a mix of Soldier and Berserker gear out in PvP (WvW mind you). I do not PvE much so can’t really say and foofad probably already covered it. Shield around high places can yield many hours of fun. And honestly you don’t see too many out and about.
Forgot to add my primary build is one of the two Healaway’s listed in the post here in the forums (not mine, Christo’s). I also run a very dangerous DPS build for solo / roaming.
Ok, I found his thread (Amins that is).
Page 2, If you can’t be them, join… is the title, https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/guardian/If-you-can-t-be-them-join-them/first#post2691278
Not sure if that is what we are talking about or even relevant. I’m sorry if not.
Yup, pretty much.
However, they can fix it rather quickly. Just treat WvW like they do S/T PvP and be done with the whole thing.
Skill and build > gear any day of the week. Your a bad pvp’er if you think gear carries in this game lol.
I don’t think anyone said gear carries in this game. However, I’ve yet to see anyone out in WvW naked and PvP’ing. Point being, the combined stats will make a difference for those roaming. Just how big of a majority that is is anyone’s guess.
I’m Human but played a Asura all through out the beta weekends. However, it was a elementalist. Had I rolled a guardian during that time chances are high I would be playing a Asura today.
Asura + 2 Handed Hammer = lots of fun.
Amins I believe either has, or is, toying with a Condition build or so I thought.
How many laurels are you sitting on and what are your plans come next week with the patch? I know several of you already are maxed out on various accessories and legendary weapons but those of you who are not, any ideas, thoughts?
I’m sitting on 150 laurels and only 1 ascended piece (Zerk Necklace). I have 3 sets of exotics though and weapons to match DPS and Healaway builds so I’m not sure what I’m going to do. I also have to get a crafter from 0 to 500 which may not be bad I guess if I want to an alt.
None actually. In fact, depending on your stance this is actually a deal breaker for me. Zerg warfare it won’t matter stat for stat because you hide behind the numbers.
However, for any small group or solo player, the overall total stat of those who have vs. those who have not, well, will be noticeable I feel. So wish A.net had a pair of brass you know what and stopped the gear addition back when the mega thread in General generally said we’ll pass on it…
“Healway” – 1-10 grp size fighting equal numbers.
Valor/Honor Zerg vs Zerg – “Healway” cannot keep up on the front line.
So… Healways Trumps AH for roaming, imo.
Mind if I ask what you have been running lately? I know you have been trying out a few new builds but I’ve not seen you on our server lately so figured I’d ask. Then again, this week facing SoS has been a bust with their night crew and size
Out of the 11 or so “virtual” friends I’ve gamed with over the years dating back to StarCraft and Diablo online and started GW2, I’m the sole player to remain.
Couple went back to WoW, few others to console games and slowing down in general, few back to EQ2, Rift, and SwTOR…
It is what it is. If you ignore the fact they sold a bill of goods without every stating anything about ascended gear (saying Legendary and Exotics are it) you live in lala land. It wasn’t mentioned and thus the backlash. Now we are stuck and people will choose.
Plain and simple.
Yaki – multiple ways to play the game has “provided” by Arena Net. If someone only wants to play WvW they that is their choice. That is like me saying if all you want to do is grind objects or do PvE then go play WoW or EQ(1,2) or any other PvE oriented game /boggle
Arena net got it right by restricting gear in s/t PvP. However, they didn’t do the same for WvW which I’d really like to know the reason behind that choice.
Well, one thing I think we can all agree on is that there are three main ways to play this game. Maybe a fourth but it would be a stretch.
1. S/T PvP. Ascended gear won’t be a factor.
2. WvW. Ascended gear will be a factor and already is.
3. PvE. Ascended gear won’t be a factor has long as you can jump, dodge, and they don’t implement “inspect” or “gear score” or “look for group”.
4. Black Market. If you factor in those who only play the market then ascended gear / craftables will come into play.
Out of the 4 listed, WvW will have the biggest impact for most players. You may be asking Crapgame why that is. Well, simply put it restricts your gear and build options to be honest. Ascended gear, if you play only WvW, comes at a slower rate than say someone who also PvE’s and does Fractals. Less ascended gear means you will need to buy smart and it will limit your builds based on gear and stat distribution. Really simple when you look at the availability vs. gear and builds most people carry now. I carry 3 sets of armor for builds and every weapon my Guardian can use….
Also note that while a few said WvW doesn’t matter because it is really a group effort. You are correct, it is a group. However, you are incorrect in that group is rather open ended. It can be 2, 3, 6, 8, or even 100. WvW does not always mean you run with a ball of 50 other players or following a blue tag. WvW is composed of many layers to include, but not limited to:
1. Roaming parties
2. Hit and run supply and sentry camps
3. Multi group coordinating tower takes
4. Distraction groups
5. Hide and seek or nip and tuck – small groups pick off rear of zerg making them stop
6. Control or restrict access while other parties attack
7. Contest waypoints
So today ascended gear isn’t really a be all or breaking of the WvW game has we know it. However, has they “introduce” new items the stats are additive and the gap between those who have and have not will only widen. Zerg warfare, no. It won’t mater as much unless you are a supporting player. However, the smaller scale fighters or roamers, yeah. It will make a huge difference.
Now…just how much of the player base is WvW let alone any of the possible ways I listed to play? I have no idea. The gear isn’t going anywhere so we have to either deal with it or find something else. Or, Arena Net will see the PvE vs. WvW difference that is already present (PvE gets 10x more attention in everything compared equally) and they just treat it like t/sPvP and be done with it which is my choice. Don’t let the gear in to begin with and this is a non issue…
Thanks. It was not my intent to direct it one way or another. However, I do like the various build threads that have some active discussions going on. Especially with the upcoming ascended weapons due out soon, one has to spend wisely. Of course if obtaining the gear isn’t a option then the rest of us can work around it like we have already done.
I currently sport 3 sets of gear all exotic of course with the exception of a zerker ascended neck Been just sort of waiting until I find something that just feels right.
Thank you by the way. And others who discuss in the threads and others.
Can we open the discussion of this build, or if it is viable, in WvW?
This isn’t about me or the nail honestly, so maybe just ignore me I just prefer WvW vs. anything tied to maps like t/s PvP. I probably should try it more honestly, but I just can’t for whatever reason.
Perma Death character creation.
In short, create a character and level to 80. If along the way you die you lose everything and start over, from scratch, using a new name. Name of fallen character is kept track your awards page.
If you hit 80, without death, you are granted a precursor of your choice and a title.
And on that day, everyone sat around in LA crafting their way to 80 in under an hour.
Point taken. But you don’t allow crafting or other means to get there or even boost you such as the instant lvl 20 thingy or other consumables. Zero to 80. Heck, make it ever lasting to include fractals, etc.

Darkness Falls (DaOC, of course).
Reason? WvWvW JP’s are somewhat nice, and could be exciting. Have some unique traps. However, there is zero reason to enter these days. If you designed the environment to yield:
1. More exp per kill
2. Increase in Tx mats or precursors
3. Increase in money per kill
4. Added NPC mobs, veterans, or randomly roaming champs to yield 1, 2, and 3 above would provide reason
5. Control to prevent others from joining and giving more reason to control towers, etc
Basically there needs to be a reason to go in there. Money talks, everything else walks.
PvE != WvW / s/t PvP.
S/T PvP is a moot point, ascended gear isn’t allowed. Problem solved there. However, this form of play isn’t really taking off in GW2. For whatever reason. Then, factor in you are tied to a map (points to the two ton heavy gorilla MMO we all know about) thinking BG’s are the be all end all, and people don’t want to play that. Well, it is a different subset I should say.
PvE – static content with AI. First time is rough. Second time is not so much. After a bit everyone is doing speed runs. Then there are the fractals with their agony buff which is hit or miss to the masses. Not going to touch that other than it isn’t something I’d do.
WvW – the third and final aspect of this game whereas it is open world PvP without any constraint. Food, buffs, gear, and numbers matter because it is all allowed. Initial stats provided by ascended gear is a no brainer and not much of a worry. In fact, most don’t even bother unless they are fine tuning their stats for a particular play style. Others, refuse or can’t. Then there are those who may have 1 or 2 pieces or holding on to laurels because the road is slow going and they want to buy wisely (smart actually).
Adding the gear is spreading the total stats which mean in WvW format more health or some other stat that helps you. When facing 10 it doesn’t matter. When facing 2 it does matter. 1k health may not sound like a lot to you but if you play, and if you roam in small groups or solo, ask yourself how many times that 1k would have made a difference. It does. But it isn’t just a number it is also a distribution to fine tune your avatar.
Easiest solution would be to remove all ascended gear from WvW and treat it just like s/t PvP. People would probably complain but it would at least level the playing field has more and more items come out.
And to the person who said this is changing to a grindy MMO you are probably right. New content is coming out, achievement points are adding up, and a off day or week means you are behind. Being behind is a good thing (watch it boys) because it puts a fresh perspective on the game. However, I do think it is going to make it difficult in the longer run.
just one mans opinion.
I’ve seen the thread, I don’t need to look for it.
Then you would know it isn’t a handful. You are belittling it.
I stop listening to any argument upon seeing the term “manifesto.” That’s about people swallowing the marketing hype and realizing that the devs are merely human. They had grand plans for the game that are not possible at the present time due to limitations of the technology used. A significant minority of people surely left the game at that time, over reasons that included but were not exclusively about Ascended gear. Some of them have returned, others did not.
The manifesto, regardless if you like or dislike, is what drove a lot of people to this game. That and from having played GW1. The selling point was no treadmill or grind for the never ending shiny object to make one keep close to the Jones.
was going to harm the game more than help it, they would not do those things. People come and go within an MMO all the time. Just because an individual disagrees with a change does not mean it is a bad idea. It means that the individual has a choice before him: accept the change or play another game. Your account will still be here, so you can go away and play something else for six months, then come back to see if enough people disagreed with the changes to make an impact. If not, you make the same choice again, stay and accept it or go.
Well if you read the thread then you would understand they didn’t expect the outcome they got. However, it was intended, it was already in the game code, and you simply can’t undo such a large change across all the code base. I think even you would agree this isn’t hello world we are talking about… They answered the questions, concerns, and asked people to wait it out. End result? I have no idea because they have the data, we don’t.
And actually you are correct. Anyone can take a break. But let me know how that goes when new content is coming out every 2 weeks. See, I do see your side of the debate. I just don’t agree with your assessment of only a few.
They study every aspect of the game carefully and consider changes based on how it will affect everyone, not just you.
I disagree with this statement. This game has been rife with blunders and errors since day 1. Remember the Lost Shores event? That wasn’t very well thought out. Remember when they added the loot boxes for world champs, then nerfed them when the market got flooded with ectos? Oops. Or take a look at the more recent addition of celestial stat gear crafting (with MF stats), followed closely by the announcement of the abolishment of the MF stat. Notice the history of PVE nerfs, due to PVP imbalance. I don’t think they study much, or consider much when it comes to how changes will affect players in this game. It all seems rather knee-jerk and reactionary to me. Just my $.02.
2 week content push doesn’t leave much room for thinking /rollseyes
Here is one of the older posts – not sure why the Q & A was on Reddit. Anyway, peace all.
Well heck, you got me with the 2.5 years of MMO experience.
Look. You probably won’t be able to provide enough information to based on facts to change my mind. Same with me to you. What I will end my piece is really this simple. Back in the Lost Shores event time frame, around November of last year there was a pretty lengthy thread about this. I’m telling you it wasn’t a handful of people. Take that for what it is worth.
In turn, that debate went down the road of the developers breaking the manifesto that they touted to make GW2 different than the rest. Furthermore, people felt let down or betrayed (which sounds odd for a game but to each his/her own). Because of this, and the necessary damage control, co-founder O’Brien wrote something on it.
You can search if you so choose the threads, twitter messages, etc. It was all around that time from what I recall. I will tell you one thing you are wrong about a handful, two hands, feet, and toes. It was a bigger issue. Just how much today is hard to say…
Only thing that I know for sure is that anyone with a legendary doesn’t have to worry because it will get stats adjusted has we have already seen in game before they patched them out.
I hope you do have a good day.
Legendaries are already crazy.
Ascended gear is a chore.
Dailies are now part of your everyday game play.
2 week content cycle is making it tough for casual play.
PvE != s/tPvP or WvW – player vs. player is getting left behind and out of the loopNone of these things have affected the way I or my wife play the game at all. I do what I want to do, not what someone else tells me I have to do. So stop trying to keep up with the Joneses and play the game the way you want to play.
If that is the way you want to play, then take ownership of your choice and stop pretending that you have to do this, you want to do this.
Who said anything about keeping up with the Jones. It is just a statement.
The stat creep does impact the game I play which is WvW. See the picture now? When “I” have enough I will take a break. However, you should not assume that it is just a handful of people disagreeing with you or your wife. Has I said – search for the thread and you will see it isn’t a handful (and it isn’t the majority). I think if you search a bit more you will see the “official” post about Ascended gear and their mishandle.
That is a fact no matter how many times you click your heels to say otherwise.
If there was an actual majority of players speaking out against Ascended gear for the 10 months since it was first introduced, do you really think that Anet would alienate most of their player base by continuing to move forward with plans to introduce something they hate?
I do. They answered the original post. They designed the game that way and just blew it by not letting people know. Everyone (right or wrongly) went about the game has exotics and legendary weapons are it. Equal stats, different textures. Maybe the thread is still around, try a search. I mean, maybe that is why they gated the release? Maybe that is why they added the laurels? I don’t work there, I can only tell you what I recall from reading, and participating, in the thread.
Also note it wasn’t closed nor did people get banned. For the most part it was a civil debate regardless of what side you sat on. Also note it isn’t about BiS mind you but what happens when there is a 10 stat difference in some forms of game play. At first it was only a spread of 10. With each new piece available the disparity increased (additive, agreed?). Note I said triad of game play (or at least I think I did). WvW and PvE while different, the same gear can be used. WvW will notice it more than PvE. Thus my comment about inspect or gear score. We don’t have either yet which most people agree is good.
And WvW isn’t just about large zerg warfare and s/tPvP is different because gear isn’t used there.
Hi,
I planed carefuly my colors and style. In my case is white+light blue (NOT VIOLET)
I am owner of Meteorologicus that now perfectly fits my style (My zephyrite cap has same light blue effect).Changing colors to violet/purple will ruin everything!
Do not do it!/more animations https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gTn6RlNLbJQ
You look like a huge cat that couldn’t handle the yarn ball you played with. Honestly, it looks like a huge ball of cotton
The overwhelming outrage consists of a couple dozen individuals who rage against any change made to the game no matter how small.
Actually I’d wager you 100 gold that your statement, is in fact, incorrect. When the patch notes dropped talking about Ascended gear or the rumor (take your pick which dropped first) there was a mega thread created rather quickly. The overwhelming outrage wasn’t from a couple dozen individuals. The post had over 10,000 posts and I don’t remember the actual number of views. Shortly thereafter a official comment was posted stating their design reason and how Ascended gear was always intended.
Believe what you will but the end result was that they admitted they screwed the pooch in delivering the news about Ascended items. However, it is what it is and they went ahead and released what they designed originally. So yes. They said they could have delivered the news about the new gear better but it is our choice if we want to participate or not.
Just what the impact is on the community? I have no idea. I know it isn’t just a handful and I also know it is not the majority. Honestly, if falls in the middle somewhere and it probably doesn’t matter in the longer run. What I do know is that each person needs to find their tolerance on it. Me? I personally don’t like them and think it will hurt the game in the long run. Short term it is easy to ignore and fight the system. But with each new content push or new itemization it gets harder and harder to keep up with the Jones.
Legendaries are already crazy.
Ascended gear is a chore.

PvE != s/tPvP or WvW – player vs. player is getting left behind and out of the loop
Let us all face it. The game is no longer just a Dress Up Barbie game whereas armor and weapon textures are what make everyone unique. Stat creep is here and it is only going to widen the already present gap. Just one mans opinion on it.
To fix it is to remove it. And that isn’t going to happen. Thus to each his/her own. May we all make the right choice.
Ascended items ruined this game….no matter if the intent was to always have them and just deliver them late, they are bad all around.
Add in the triad design of this game (PvE, t/sPvP, and WvW) and class balance, forget it.
Game is no longer only dress up Barbie. Gear now is starting to matter if you haven’t been paying attention. The good news is that we don’t have a “inspect player” feature yet or “gear score”. However, with new ascended pieces coming out and some already available options, it does matter.
It matters in PvE and WvW outside a zerg.
But Ascended gear is what the masses wanted…. /rollseyes
Actually from what I recall of the mega thread on the subject, most “active” people on the forums didn’t want it. Now, how that directly relates to active players is another story. Me personally, I’m just about finished with the game since PvE gets more updates relating to content and equipment compared to WvW. Ascended gear is just another nail in the coffin.
Note – gear creep is happening.
Hey guys, I just leveled my guardian to 80 and I am looking for a direction in which to gear and trait for solid WvW solo roaming.
I’d not go head long into the DPS route until you try one of the more “safer” or “comfortable” builds. Work on building a couple sets of armor and weapons so you can swap back and forth while you find that comfort level. Otherwise, you may just get frustrated and park the Guardian for something else.
I have three sets of armor and weapons that let me pick and choose what I want and when. I usually fall back to support / healing but there are days that I want to go DPS only. However, it really depends on who I’m playing with and who we are facing. Some server match ups require nothing but healing and support. Then there are some days or match ups that I can pick what I want and not be too much of a liability.
DPS guardians are fun but there is little room for error. I think there are those on this forum who post regularly can do it. However, new, starting, or average player then I’d honestly recommend easing into the builds. The Guardian is rather well balanced and with conditions being silly stupid and torment, DPS should be your second choice
I also forgot to say the poster above said it well. I’ll also add that some of the more active forum posts have multiple guardians. I am actually working on a second and a warrior…
^^ what he said.
Staff for movement. Hammer and GS for AOE or multi pack mobs. I don’t recall using food but that was ignorance on my part. Trait / spec I didn’t really bother because it didn’t seem important to me at the time. Armor was whatever dropped.
In other words, I didn’t care much about optimizations because I was leveling to 80 and completing maps, zones, hears, and JP’s. Nothing else mattered and it seemed to go fast enough. During breaks I’d go out in WvW and complete the maps has our server was winning and follow the zerg for badges. Those you can use later on for armor if you so choose.
I rolled a Guardian because all through out the beta I was playing a Asura Elementalist.
All other MMO’s I’m usually playing some form of melee or hybrid and rarely play casters. DaOC it was Thane has my main, then suppression Spiritmaster. WoW it was a Paladin. Ret from retail then moved to holy in Cata, then finally Tank later on until I left.
I swore to never fall into the Melee trap again and pick a hybrid class but I did. Guardians can do a lot but very little can they excel at due to the current state of the game.
Guardians can burst down while roaming. However, if you miss a step or the person you are attacking gets a block or dodge in, your dead 9 out of 10 times. Guardians are in a awkward place right now has it relates to WvW.
Granted, this is only 1 aspect of the triad / game design. PvE we are fine because NPC’s are static or predictable. If you can dodge then chances are high you will be fine TPvP or whatever the mists variety is, is another story. I’m not one to enter much because I don’t like being confined to a map (d@mn you WoW). If I want that sort of play I’ll go to a console or PC FPS.
Park the Guardian, roll another class such has Thief, Engineer, or Warrior.
Just saying.
10/0/30/30/0
Not much room for survivability in open world pvp. Just saying has that is what I’m running today.
I don’t think I’d recommend this but when I run DPS out in WvW I go:
10 – II
0
30 – VI, IV, XI
30 – II, VIII, XI
0
Sword/shield + GS (all berserker blood/force, and blood). I also use scepter and staff.
Soldier / Berserker mix – even split. Helm has ruby (under water fights), rest citadel. Berserker accessories + neck + back using Rubies. Rings are soldiers also using Rubies. All accessories (except neck) are exotic.
Omnom Pie + maint oil are buffs.
Not the smartest build I’d wager due to the current state of the game but when I go DPS it usually comes after a day or two of PVE and I’m too lazy to switch back to a more comfortable build (healing / clerics). This, for me, is 50/50 at best because sometimes roaming you can surprise people and burst them down. However, if you run into multiple players, well, if you are not very good (<- me) you will go down quick. Heck, I wakitten the other with a 15K kill shot
The build was one someone posted a while back and I liked it. It makes things die real quick there may be safer builds or other build by the more skilled players but this is what I’m running and it just keeps me on my toes a bit more compared to the safer build I noted above, or even support friendly.

I have a alt, maybe I should try that too. But I suck at leveling alts – lol.
Side note – I’m still pondering how I got hit for 15,542 earlier this evening on my Guardian. I don’t recall a huge zerg and 3 of us engaged a group of 4. I’m at about 17k health in DPS gear (zerk/solider mix and about 2600 armor). I see my health bubble go BAM and I ran like a little school girl
I look at the logs and it was a Kill Shot I don’t think I’ve ever hit anyone even remotely that hard in WvW @ 80. Not even a up ticked player.
A little piece of me died watching your video Brutaly.
Honest question though – same fights but on your Guardian. How do you think you would have done? Only reason why I am asking is because I think a couple people in this thread, regardless of what the state is of our class, will still be better off than the rest of us. Why? You are just better players that others on the field.
Party naked and you would still come out on top is what I’m saying.
I only say remove it because it is difficult to balance in PvE vs. PvP vs. WvW. The numbers are just not there and it really isn’t doing anything anyway in my opinion. You trigger it and I rarely see it make anyone pause their attack. So then you adjust it back up and what happens? It is too much when large groups of players attack a Guardian and back down it goes.
I don’t think there is a sweet spot for it so that is why I say remove it. Buff and it is too much, decrease the time but increase it and guardians just work together and it is back to the OP side of things. Can’t win, so dump it and give us something else. Maybe buff shields but that is a bit selfish I supposed and won’t solve the problem.
I don’t have an answer and dropping it is probably a over reaction and knee jerk one at that. However, it is frustrating regardless of what build you use today because WvW is broke in general. Only people playing are the diehards and we will be gone once something is out in my opinion that is slightly better.
