Pretty much the same as the others. Logging in, doing Teq and daily and then logging out. Interesting to see even some of us dedicated fans are getting burned out.
Last halloween they said they were too busy with LS2 to do a new halloween event. Of course, when we saw the LS2 content, we asked why it was so sparse. Later they said it was sparse because they were focusing on the expansion. Six months after announcing the expansion we still don’t have a release date and the very likely occurrence of there being another repeat halloween event.
If by nerf, the OP means remove from competitive and PvE play completely, then yes, this is a realistic way to nerf mesmers.
Thanks Mak. It’s not about the MMR. It’s about the context of his posts.
But, on topic, I agree that mesmers could use some fix/nerfs, but there’s a lot of exaggerating going on.
My post is there for anyone to consider and agree or disagree with. I, however, am not the topic of discussion and shouldn’t be. As I said, there’s no need to respond to me, if you can’t be civil.
I’m not sure who you are trying to convince at this point.
I told you that I disagreed so you basically called me a bad player because of that. It was a clear personal attack as is your last post. If you can’t discuss this civilly with me, I suggest you move on.
I disagree with your assessment.
It’s the MMR.
There’s no need to make a personal attack just because you didn’t make a convincing argument.
I disagree with your assessment.
Once again there isn’t a single mesmer skill that people don’t want to see nerfed. Unfortunately, I don’t believe that there is any level of nerf that will allow some people to win against a mesmer at this point. They just can’t wrap their head around the class.
Frankly, I wonder if people are just playing against bad players or against superior mesmers. I’ve never encountered these one-shot builds or any of the problems that people are describing here and I pvp (unranked) every day with multiple classes.
It just seems that people are blaming their losses on mesmers or their bad builds (I see a lot of these) on mesmers. While I agree the mesmer needs some minor tweaking, it’s no where near as kittenome people are claiming it to be.
I’ve won many games against teams with 2 mesmers, while my teams had one or less.
I’ve been seeing fewer of them too, outside of mesmer dailies.
If you aren’t going to play a class, then it makes sense to want that class nerfed regardless of whether it is OP or not.
This is primarily for soloq.
Please feel free to add more.
When you see an ally fighting 1v2+, do not join them. They are likely losing and will go down soon. If you join, you will soon be fighting 1v2 and will suffer the same fate. Instead, try to find where the opponent is outnumbered.
When you see an ally fighting 1v1, join them. Always try to make fights outnumbered for the opponent. The faster you kill an opponent, the faster you can kill the next one.
Stomp is the default. Yes, there are times when you should cleave. But most of the time you need to stomp. Too many times have I seen an opponent rally because someone just would stomp. In a 2v1, stomp. If you have an ally down and an opponent down and the opponent doesn’t have a sliver of life left, Stomp!
They’d quickly become more junk in the blcs. Their current price is driven mostly by supply. If you add more through blcs or drops, then their supply will quickly outstrip demand, which is held back by the limited number of ways to get spinal blades and the overall lack of appeal for these backpacks compared to others.
I’d rather Anet just give them away than have them take the place of something better in blcs.
Although I suspected this would happen and bought them well before I would need them to make each back piece, I don’t see any reason that they should offer another way for players to obtain them. Laurel merchant seems to most practical.
I don’t think people hate mesmers per se. Nor did ppl kitten about “mesmers being impossible to defeat” literally. However, there is an issue regarding balance that goes beyond the lazy knee jerk “L2P”.
I think that what fuels the hate mainly comes from the many mesmer maining ppl who are fighting tooth and nail to avoid acknowledging even an iota of a possible problem (often coming of as blatantly trolling and of very bad faith when discussing the issue). They probably fear the nerf hammer more than anything else but, sadly, the coping strategies that fear engender make many of them very unlikable ppl in the eyes of those who have valid points.
My 2 cents
The problem is for every reasonable complaint, you get tons of people, like Choppy, who just have an ax to grind against the mesmer. They spend more time complaining about the mesmer than doing anything else on these forums. What ever reasonable criticisms are simply drowned out.
You told me to get over myself. That is a clear personal insult. You also compared me to a monkey.
Telling someone to get over themselves is not an insult, it is a wake up call. It is, in fact, a favour because the person is clearly needing it due to an inflated ego.
This is an insult. It’s no different than calling someone stupid and then asking them to thank you for it.
You are wrong and are personally attacking me because of it.
You told me to get over myself. That is a clear personal insult. You also compared me to a monkey.
You’re just repeating yourself. It doesn’t change my point and your insults are entirely unnecessary. Feel free to ignore me, but don’t say you will and follow it up with nothing but personal attacks.
Much of it is just ranger players unhappy with their profession and lashing out at mesmers. They even needed to start their own thread in the ranger forum about it.
I thought this was the ranger forum. Sorry, that must be the Heart of Thorns, PvP, or GW2 General Discussion forum.
Rangers: Give us new pets!
Others: Sure, but can we have something too?
Rangers: No! Stop being selfish!
…
Rangers: 2 professions got a new F ability, we want something too!You act like rangers are asking for something new… the op is just asking for better control over skills rangers already have.
Imagine if Mesmer shatters only had an f1 button instead of 1-4 and the shatter effect you got was entirely rng. Should Mesmers class mechanic be changed to this so mesmers aren’t too confusing for new players?
What’s even richer is that this is the PvP forum, not the ranger forum. Because they are so important.
How is it that you predicted this? Selkittennowledgement of Mesmers OP status?
I predicted that the ranger forum would soon have a nerf another profession thread in it, despite others claiming that the lack of one meant that rangers just focused on improving their profession.
As I said before, rangers should spend more time trying to address the actual problems with their profession than calling for nerfs on others.
Hardly a prediction mate, come on, be serious. That is as much a prediction as my predicting the sun will come up tomorrow.
If you take a look at the Ranger forum, it is FULL of ideas to address the actual problems with Ranger and all aspects of it. We have already solved every problem, multiple times. But nothing ever happens.
Mostly Rangers do not want nerfs to others, but buffs to ourselves so as to be competitive with them. Take a look at what Mesmer got this last patch, it pretty much hard counters the most popular Ranger build, which was not that awesome anyway. Power LB. Not only can the Ranger easily kill himself in a few seconds due to the multitude of reflects, but the Mesmer can shatter burst from stealth to kill him in seconds too.
When things like that happen and Ranger is still bad, ppl get angry.
A prediction is a prediction. And the examples here speak for themselves. No other profession forum has a thread dedicating to getting another class nerfed. Not only was I right, but I was attacked by ranger players for it.
Rangers should focus more on improving their own class than trying to antagonize all the others.
Yeah, and their knock backs from stealth are too much. Or bursting you from across the map. How can your predict that?
Rangers: Give us new pets!
Others: Sure, but can we have something too?
Rangers: No! Stop being selfish!
…
Rangers: 2 professions got a new F ability, we want something too!
Look, when I push one of my 10 kill mesmer buttons, I kitten well expect a mesmer to be killed.

This is exactly as I predicted. Some posters owe me an apology.
Why?
Several posters scolded me that rangers don’t go around asking for nerfs and just focus on improving their own class. They were quite specific on this. They used the fact that there was no recent nerf threads in the ranger forum. So a few days later, what should appear…. That and some very prominent ranger players going to other forums to beg for nerfs.
I can agree with the issue of mesmers summoning phantasms or proccing power lock and keeping stealth. However, wanting to remove that and reduce their stealth uptime just tells me that they want mesmers to be easy kills and are not interested in improving the game at all.
Power lock proc reveals.
Thanks. I wasn’t 100% sure of this. I thought I used it once and kept stealth, but now that I think back, it might have been a non-interrupt daze.
I agree that the burst from stealth is a problem, but not the stealth up time. Is it advantageous? Yes, of course. Is it OP? Without the ability to summon and proc Power Block without losing stealth, no.
It does have much to do with how your present your arguments.
Seems to me that stronghold might not be very popular, so it’s a good thing that it has a separate queue.
I pointed out certain traits to prevent Anet from overnerfing something or nerfing the wrong stuffs. Stop take it personally.
lol. No you didn’t. You have a bunch of complaints on this forum and the PvP forum with no actual feedback or suggestions. You just don’t like mesmers and want your favorite class buffed.
people hate mesmers for same reason why they hated thieves pre patch: burst from stealth…. except mesmers can do it better now, while stacking dazes and actually living way longer than thieves….. and thieves got nerfed so they can’t keep mesmers in check.
That being said, enjoy the bandwagon before you get flooded by QQ and get hit by nerf bat
I would disagree… But standard GS shatter rotation says otherwise. Granted I’ve since moved to a different weapon set that’s more fun. However, the amount of QQ over something that’s been around since… Who knows is what’s sad. Everyone conveniently forgets lots of classes experienced a power creep and blame Mesmer for some l2p issues. Other than PU and CS. Those are different stories.
And you conveniently forget it was impossible to have such combo before the patch too. It is the new mechanic, IN ADDITION to the old one, that makes Mesmer OP.
Excluding any part of it and said it’s there before it’s just silly. So it was impossible to burst, potentially “one shot”, from stealth pre patch? I’m sure Vashury, Osicat, Guapo, and others would disagree. What’s different now is that the burst is BETTER and if CS is taken more stuns.
You still missed the point.
In the past Mesmer is bursty, but frail and little margin of error.
Now Mesmer is still bursty (in fact, way more bursty), but with alot more margin of error thanks to all the new toys. Stun-lock only make things worse. So power mesmer is where power ranger is. Now I see why you’re upset.
LOL…. So funny.
Kinda wonder why we never see a Ranger in ESL post patch.Keep living in denial.
So ESL is the sole determinant of whether a class should be nerfed or not. I don’t know, I just see a bunch of ranger players who think nerfing mesmers will somehow fix their class.
Stop making rangers the villain. EVERYONE, YES, EVEN SOME MESMERS THEMSELVES, agree that the current Mesmer is too powerful and many traits need tone down.
OMG! Me too! But I’m not making complaints in every thread I can about it. But rangers….

Oh, I do believe there are exceptions.
A ranger is here asking for stealth to be removed from mesmers. Unbelievable. Not long ago, rangers were telling me that they only focus on their own profession and don’t go around trying to get other professions nerfed.
All rangers aren’t one monolithic ranger blob.
Not even all longbow rangers.
Not even all pew-pew stand-in-one-spot-getting-one-shot-by-Mirror longbow rangers.
So one of the most prolific “buff ranger” posters isn’t here and in the PvP forum trying to get mesmers nerfed and there isn’t a nerf mesmer thread in the ranger forum right now? Right….
I can agree with the issue of mesmers summoning phantasms or proccing power lock and keeping stealth. However, wanting to remove that and reduce their stealth uptime just tells me that they want mesmers to be easy kills and are not interested in improving the game at all.

Wow. Blurred Frenzy now? There’s nothing about mesmers people won’t complain about. I’m becoming more and more convinced that mesmers are not the problem.
I know right.
Sword mainhand is already a shadow of its former self – I can’t believe complaints about blurred frenzy now…
Seems like people are using the excuse of a FEW mesmer trait issues post-patch, as well as game-wide damage issues (ie, the need to shave amulets and rebalance stats) that affect all classes, to unleash all their pent up hatred of mesmers over the last few years.
I bet there will be nonsensical complaints about iMage giving too much fury and Mirror Images giving too many clones, or something equally ridiculous next.
I know – how about signet of illusions recharging shatters! Oh wow, that’s broken – they can instantly burst after using that signet – nerf please! :o
I fully agree some mesmer specific trait combinations need to be looked at and dealt with (Confounding Suggestions, Blinding Dissipation, PU, free 15% phant damage…), but everything else existed pre-patch and is quite honestly a L2P issue.
I agree with everything but the free phant damage. I like to think of it as a trade off for how squishy the are against aoe.
However I did see someone complain about iWarlock doing too much damage against an opponent with 25 stacks of vuln and other condi’s lol.But on the whole except for CS and PU, maybe blinding I don’t play with it much so I can’t say, everything else is good trait synergy and a l2p issue. People want to run zerker gear and stand still for full bursts(in my experience) and complain about being “1 shot”.
SighYet Mesmers are running full zerk himself too, but with 0 risk compare to other zerks,
able to easily stun-lock + one shot anyone while unable to be one-shot back because of all the invulnerable, evade, blink, and stealth. (Oh, before you said Mesmer already had these before, no, they don’t have IP baseline so they can’t have free on demand invulnerable, they don’t have such lengthy stealth, they don’t have free 1200 range blind that’re most likely -cd and reflect projectile, they don’t have on demand instant blind with no ICD)Hyperbole is real.
Perfect example of the hyperbole that is making it difficult to evaluate whether the mesmer is truly OP. But I guess we could be talking about rangers following a knock-down/immobize with 20K+ rapid fires from over 1500 range and from stealth.
This is exactly as I predicted. Some posters owe me an apology.
It’s definitely hyperbole. Gern thought the old Grenadier trait that allowed grenades to hit players multiple times for huge amounts of damage (so much that Anet had to disable until they could fix it) was balanced.
Wow so clearly there are people here that are new or relatively new.
Blurred frenzy was nerfed hard in 2013 May:
Blurred Frenzy CD increased by 20%
This skill now is an evade instead of an invulnerability. So in a time when mesmers were hardly considered for teams ever, and halting strike did jack all for damage mesmer blurred frenzy was double nerfed.
Oh also! This was a time when Anet was considering putting an internal cooldown on deceptive evasion.
So maybe we should look at past nerfs before crying for more? Just maybe. If blurred frenzy is touched again mesmers will have no decent mainhand.
I’m convinced there are just some players, who no matter how hard mesmers are nerfed, will never be able to get past the mechanic and will struggle against mesmers.
I noticed this 2 years ago and created a nerf list that won’t make mesmers beatable for them, but will at least give them a chance. What’s interesting is how many of the skills mentioned were nerfed and people are still having a really hard time with mesmers.
Suggested changes to balance the Mesmer:
1. Damaging the clones (including shattering) hurts the mesmer.
2. Portal has the same range as blink and also can’t cross walls or gaps like blink.
3. Time warp requires the mesmer to enter an inactive meditation state for the duration. Recharge increased by 30 seconds and duration reduced by 5 seconds.
4. Moa morph affects both the target and the mesmer.
5. Blurred frenzy applies 20 seconds of bleeding on the mesmer. Damage reduced 30%. Recharging increased by 20 seconds.
6. Temporal Curtain pull range is reduced to 300. Pull cannot pull people off ledges.
7. Target stands in iWarden for more than 1 second, that target is now healed instead of damaged.
8. Magic bullet can now hit allies.
9. Confusion now only works for a target’s #5 skill.
10. Mesmer armor is now capped at 1000; health at 15000.
11. Mesmers must spend boons in order to complete shatters.
12. Mesmers suffer from poison while invisible and are still targetable.
13. Clones no longer have the name of the mesmer. Instead, they say clone. In addition, they are shaded a deep purple.
14. Mesmers now take twice as much damage from warriors.
15. Mesmers cannot damage guardians.
16. In accordance with its name, null field now does nothing.
17. Chaos storm has equal chance of applying boons and conditions to both allies and enemies.
18. Chaos armor has chance of applying boons to enemies that hit the mesmer and conditions on the mesmer when hit.
19. Swap following illusionary leap will only work 50% of the time.
20. Illusionary wave also pushes the mesmer back acting as a knockdown.
Maybe now people will be able to have a chance against mesmers.

“Backing off the thread”.
Point proven.
I mean, I was going to, but then you had to cast that last stone, trying to get me off the subforum altogether. That sort of aggression can’t stand, man.
Will you apologize? You really should. These are public forums for everybody, not just people who believe the same things you do, you know.
I’ve taken a lot of abuse here, with my motivations and character called into question repeatedly, when all I’ve done is try to answer the threads question.
No one is questioning your motivations. We all clearly know what they are.
@DaShi
It’s a pity you feel that way. You’ve called for deeper cuts to mesmer than I have on the grounds of balance, whereas denis has repeatedly said mesmers are exactly where they should be.
I’ve challenged you on one argument about PU, and you’ve opted to assume motivations that aren’t there and generalized them to all warriors instead of addressing the issue. You left your argument at,
I looked at your posting history. Your motivations are there for everyone to see. You just don’t like PU and mesmers because they interfere with your warrior roaming in WvW. If you want people to believe something else, post something else.
