ok, grenade barrage onshot is a bug, but whats about shatter mesmer which can hit u from 100% down to 25% instantly? THIS IS NO BUG but seems ok for you, and there is no reason to nerf it?!
Or guardian burn, 10stacks+ you go down within 3-5 sec, also seems balanced? You’re playing the wrong MMO if you want balance.
There is no ‘right’ MMO for balance, although I’m sure the grass looks greener on the other side.
MMOs are about fun first and balance second. If you want balance, go play checkers.
It’s position lag. It’s not a hack and there’s not really anything to do about it since it’s an infrastructure shortcoming, not a software issue. Calling for a fix would be like blaming car manufacturers for icy streets.
1) your title is ridiculous
2) Players are put in easy/intermediate/etc mode with matchmaking rating. It’s not perfect, but there’s always a trade off between queue time vs perfect matchup. If you create modes, then you might as well name “easy” mode “GANK NOOBS HERE” mode for the inevitable trolls.
3) I agree with random arena mode, but that would just be another mode that further divides the queuing population, which reduces the ability to match players against equal MMR players in each queue.
4) If I had to grind for gear to be able to compete, I would have stuck with WoW. The availability to all gear at the start is one of THE best features of GW2.
Yea, and it’s pretty much been that way since forever. There’s a bit more damage with it now, which is why people are actually taking it, but that’s hardly game breaking.
Hmm, not sure this was needed, but ok. Grymm sounds potentially OP, but we’ll see.
Also, putting additional heroes behind reward tracks was a clever way of pacing additional options for a map that already comes off as very complicated for new players.
Have you submitted a bug report?
I’m staying away from power builds until the barrage bug is fixed. After that I may mess with SD.
Tried it. Going back to healing turret.
Yea, it’s fun when you get several chances to chain it in a row, but you’re basically waiting for low health to get any decent heal clear and against good opponents, your chances of being able to cast that half second skill is slim due to CC.
There’s just simply too much counterplay for any decent player. They can either CC you, wait for the AED 4 sec to run before finishing, or just let condis drop you down below 10% to prevent the Automated Heal Response.
Ok…did you submit a bug report?
You make some good points. I’ll give AED a shot.
I think HGH is in good shape to make a comeback with the trait change and it pairs very well with a cele amulet.
The engineer weapon skill Acid Bomb on the Elixir Gun has a reduced movement distanced when the player is affected by Chill. Per patch notes, this should not occur.
It’s also worth noting that while Chill reduces the movement distance, Swiftness does not increase it.
Woulda bought it if it was armor, but it’s an outfit, so I’ll pass. =\
Well said. I would appreciate such a response as well.
Totally disagree. Here’s why:
It makes engis viable in WvW – Check out Wolfineer’s “mortineer” build for this. It’s all the range from the old grenades with a bigger radius, more combo fields, and faster projectile speed.
It’s a big boost to PvE Dps – this is mainly due to the toolkit ability, which hits like a truck. Sure, the AA got nerfed, so spamming 1 isn’t instant mega dps, but that’s a good thing.
It works well with a lot of PvP builds – the water field and blast finisher are great for sustain and support and it gives a ranged teamfight option, which is really helpful considering how bursty everyone is. Skill 5 also counts as an elixir, making it great for HGH builds. Finally, it gives a strong poison field for downed opponents.
Oh, and comparing a weapon with a huge AoE radius attack to longbow just doesn’t make sense, but the base damage of the mortar AA is higher than the longbow AA and you don’t even have to be at max range.

Funny how you never really see anyone speak up about things they like until they’re gone. It amazes me how people are so critical with the decisions devs make when they really get nothing but negative feedback on the current setting and then get blamed when they change it.
Blame the devs if you want…but it’s not far off from blaming a horse when you’re at the reigns.
im very very surprised to see engies so…average. everything they have now is completely overshadowed by others’ power creep. let them keep the barrage bug imo.
Yea, I’m surprised as well. I think that so many of the good changes they received were just spread out into too many specializations. That being said, it’s also possible that there’s just a learning curve to all the changes they received and that engis may yet stabilize into a strong meta build. We’re just now hitting the week mark with the patch, so the meta is far from fully settled yet…
Yup, been playing this build a bit and it’s pretty solid. Wouldn’t be surprised if it doesn’t bring HGH back to the meta.
Totally agree! I doubt we’ll see a change, but I would be really happy if they did this.
Easy:
Gliders = awesome. No question about it.
Really…REALLY?!?!
There’s been a constant uproar from the Enti community to hide the back piece from kits for years. The change FINALLY comes and there’s next to no word of thanks , but a thread like this pops up. If I was a dev, I’d probably stop caring about appeasing this community. I just hope they get paid well…
Constructive posts like this are always such a breath of fresh air. =)
+1 on this. I think dropping them in front of your character would be better since there’s not much benefit to ground targeting.
I am losing ranked matches that shouldn’t be losses because all engi’s in these matches are winning fights they wouldn’t normally win because of Grenade Barrage literally one-shotting players.
Gamebreaking? I think so. FIX IT ANET. FIX IT NOW.
So…what does it matter if it’s ranked or not? It’s not like the leaderboards are active…
engies are now running full bunker builds that can survive 1v2 or 1v3 while exploiting the grenades to still do burst damage
zzz
Believe it or not, but the people at ANet are human beings that don’t work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It’s the weekend. I wouldn’t expect anything until Monday at the soonest.
Well…it’s not surprising at all that a game she doesn’t play is confusing to her.
This would really be the same case for any MMO out there.
Yea, it sounds really broken and looks that way when you get 1-shot by some zerker engi…but in actual gameplay it doesn’t seem to be that big of a deal. Zerker engis who can 1-shot with it tend to squish just as fast and the damage from something like a celestial build isn’t that extreme.
And this all assumes you’re in the perfect position to take all the hits from this attack that make it such big damage.
Necro is still probably considered bottom of the barrel, but they’re better than they were (if that makes sense).
Other two professions are about the same.
Warriors, thieves, and eles still seem to be at the top.
This assumes all are playing their respective meta builds.
And yes, all meta builds are still zerk.
It’s better than it was before, in my opinion. You can get forceful GS and merc hammer, plus physical training, which pairs well with rampage. That being said, I’m not sure it’s enough of a buff for it to compete and in WvW, the movement nerf really hurt it.
Seems like it was a great patch for PvE warriors all around.
For PvP…well, shoutbow was due for a nerf, but there doesn’t seem to be anything to take it’s place yet.
Best case scenario: There’s an awesome PvP build that just hasn’t been discovered yet. Worst case scenario, there’s not really any great PvP build for warriors.
I’m not sure you can really call this a new meta…
I mean, it’s still full zerk and necro is still bottom of the barrel. =/
I dig the change. Getting gunk isn’t a burden like it was before (I know it has it’s uses, but wasn’t always worth using) and with the change to improvisation, this was really needed.
Good job ANet!
So, I’ll admit up front: I’m an engi noob.
But I’m wondering…from a pure DPS perspective is the mortar now better than the grenade kit? The skills look pretty support-y with all the combo fields and the heal, but the auto-attack seems to have bigger damage modifiers than the grenade kit and the toolkit hits pretty hard.
Is grenade kit still the way to go for pure dps and does that change for a power build vs a condi build?
I really want tricks to be a thing. The new condi removal on tricks makes it almost work, but the tricks need rebalancing themselves.
Even if it reduced cooldowns by 50% and removed multiple condis, bountiful theft would still be better since it, with sleight of hand, allows us to instantly kick stomps/rez/etc. even through stab.
I’d like the trick trait to be worthwhile, but it doesn’t stand a chance in it’s current position.
D/p does seem to have some huge burst. With a da/SA/trickery build using stealth on steal and haste flanking strikes, you can get a feel for the burst by hitting a golem using steal→aa→heart seeker.
I wanna play! but my client stay at 0 kb/s! I’m getting desperate
Try this:
Put a shortcut to the client on your desktop (if you don’t have one already), then right click and choose properties. In the field called "Target: ", add this to the end of your file path: -assetsrv 93.188.135.37:80
So, it should look something like this: “C:\Program Files\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -assetsrv 93.188.135.37:80
Not sure if that will fix it, but it fixed that issue for me once in the past.
The best part.
Well, in my opinion.
And that of a certain amphibian friend o’ mine.
Oh wow! I almost forgot about the frog!
Will he ever talk in map chat? puppy eyes
Anyone know if it’s still worth being zerk for PVE?
I haven’t seen any numbers, but it looks to be leaning towards yes due to the slow ramp of of damage from a condi build. It may be a bit better in high lvl Fractals where the enemies live longer…but just hope you don’t get the snowblind fractal, lol.
Yea, the same happens with “To The Limit”, at least it does when I cast it out of combat.
Big thank you to ANet and also thank you to all the people posting here with respectful messages.
I don’t know where to begin.
I don’t want to explain…..But,
What are some other MMO’s with interesting PvP?
Anyone have any suggestions?
GW2 stil has the best PvP of any MMO out there, unless you just really enjoy winning fights because you grinded longer than your opponent for gear or got really lucky with RNG drops, lol!
But please, take a breath and a break from the game. If you’re not happy with the game balance as it is only a few hours after the biggest balance change since launch, then just play something else until stabilizes here.
I can’t recommend anything better as far as interesting PvP, but if you want to mess with a free MMO that has interesting combat, you could give Tera a try, I guess.

I gotta admit…I was worried about the LA rebuild since I really liked the pirate/ship theme from the beginning so much…but the new LA is absolutely amazing.
The town feels more open than ever and I imagine it’s even better for roleplayers with things like the wedding arch and stage.
If anyone from ANet is reading this, please give the designers of this area a hug for me (or at least a high five, lol).

Honestly, I wouldn’t even call a 2 person guild a ‘guild’.
Totally disagree. New Guild Missions are one of the major draws for me. Even f the content is completely dull, it draws in the majority of the guild and the company is always the highlight.
@OP: sorry that your 3 person guild isn’t well suited for this system…but I don’t know what you expected… Of course the devs aren’t going to balance around 3 person guilds. At that point, it would practically allow people to solo their bank guilds for a personal hall.
Just tossing out a quick heads up to everyone that the Marauder amulet is the closest thing to the old berserker amulet. The new zerk amulet only has power, precision, and ferocity.
Hopefully this will reduce the number of thieves getting wrecked after the patch.
So, first of all, to any devs, if you’re actually catching this thread (which, sadly, will probably sink below all the negative threads very quickly as often happens), then props to you for being brave enough to dive into the angst that is video game forums.
I just wanted to send out a big thank you to everyone on ANet who worked to make Guild Halls a reality. I was one of the people who would bump every thread I saw on Guild Halls and I definitely wasn’t alone since there was almost always at least one thread up mentioning guild halls (well, at least for the first year or two before a lot of people probably just gave up on it).
Not only are we getting guild halls, but they look to be very feature rich. Not only did your team deliver on creating guild halls, but you knocked it out of the park.
While we don’t get everything we want, it’s definitely clear that you do listen to the community and make your best effort to respond. It may be hard to see since so many of us forum-goers tend to only write about what needs to be changed or what we don’t have, but…we appreciate when you do stuff like this. Thanks.
I guess I must of missed something, but from what I understood the amount of players repping your guild has nothing to do with the currencies you earn. 1 currency is earned automatically over time, one is earned by your guild completing weekly guild missions, and the other we are still waiting on more info on from what I remember.
So with that model in place, the guild only needs you for when they do specific guild events, no need to 100% rep.
Well, if that was the case, then there’s no need for any rep at all (aside from displaying a logo on gear/items/finisher).
However, Resonance will depend on representing guild members playing:
Resonance serves the sole purpose of speeding up the assembling of guild items and removes the need to balance other currencies around that. Meanwhile, resonating shards reward small group play with fellow guild members. Keep an eye out for more info on resonance and resonating shards when we talk about our new guild-specific crafting profession, scribing, in a future post.

Haste now has had the endurance loss part removed and gained a few seconds of fury. So this trait which benefits from 20% reduc in tricks, essentially means thieves can get 12s every 48s of quickness when paired with the haste ability. That’s 25% haste uptime – more if yo have any boon duration. This is interesting for a lot of builds – s/p for pistol whip, p/p for unload and even d/d for auto attacking. Can’t wait to try this out.
Yup, this is pure buff. This is quickness + fury when you flank, so you can actually control when you get the quickness instead of just getting it on a random crit.
Yea, you will get it less frequently (lower cd on Critical Haste than on Haste), but you get 6 seconds instead of 2.
In short: You get a controllable quickness buff plus fury for three times the duration at the cost of twice the cooldown (well, less than twice with the Trickster trait).
I used to have the same rap when I did customer service.
“You know, I see your point, now let me obfuscate it for you. You will feel much better without all that anger.”
We called it the sedating strategy.
edited for dumb grammatical error.
Hmm, I call it thinking like a rational human being rather being following blind emotion unquestionably.
To think is to exist. To think about thinking is to learn.
