A lot of people run dire condi chrono. A build that is lowest risk, extremely high reward. I hate it, but a lot of people play it so you could consider rolling one of those.
Alot? I think all are running it, lol. Its pretty much the sleeziest build that you can run in WvW on any class. The only thing close is a dire trapper ghost thief but at least they wont daze/interrupt/stun every few seconds.
WvW 3.0 would lower the cap to 25 people and only allow players which have 2000 ranks and a hardcore GvG guild to join WvW, the rest get dumped into EoTM.
WvW 4.0 would remove one of the sides and make it 5v5 on small structured WvW maps.
WvW 5.0 is actually just PvE.
Warriors problem is not mobility, its his amazing sustain from AH and signet combined WITHOUT specing for it(healling power/toughness gear) they have way too much healling and toughness in full zerker thereso having stupid amount of dps. Warrior has the sustain of a toughness healling gear without actually using this or sacrificing dps.
Agreed. Warriors can keep their mobility for all I care, let them run like cowards if they want.
Whats wrong with the class is having utterly insane healing and near immunity to CC while also having this mobility, lots of stuns, invoulnerability and zerker class damage. Nerf signet and passive traits. Problem solved.
Nope. Not in WvW with blobs.
Indeed lol.
I tried my SP2 (i5) a short while when my 980Ti broke. Its surprisingly playable on low graphics settings sure, but only in simple PvE areas (and possibly spvp, I never tried that). Anything more complicated like meta events or WvW is pretty much unplayable. I became physically ill due to choppy low fps (yes, I nearly vomited after 5 minutes, not to mention the insta-headache). Nope, had to run out and buy a 1060 instead while the other is in the shop.
Every current CPU i5 and up, last gen and 2 or 3 gens before that is “good enough”.
None of them will perform great when zerging.
I just achieved one of the grindiest achievements in WvW. After roughly 100 hours of pure Dolyak escorting from the camp to the Keep, I’ve hit the magical 2,500 tonite. There were times when I would pass out at my keyboard from boredom, but I soldiered on to get to my goal. It kinda feels like I beat the game! Now I can rejoin the TC zerg and do some fighting.
Gratz on accomplishing absolutely nothing and getting zero reward unlike every achievement in PvE.
We need to 1 up Camelot Unchained and beat it on all fronts or don’t bother.
Lolwat? It’s Camelot Unchained that need to 1 up WvW or fail. People have been threatening WvW with how awesome CU is supposed to be for 3 years now. Nothing has happened. WvW has lived it’s life and anything else is a bonus.
But anyway, tbh I think it could work with more but smaller servers. At least in theory. The small conditions that I would like to see would be:
1) kitten using servers, lets finally scrap that. Make it guild alliances (player guilds would be subguilds) and have us visibly represent these across all game modes. A color in a matchup would be a batch of alliances and they would all be seen ingame (objective claims, which players belongs to which, etc). Lets us show where our allegiance lie with pride.
2) Transfers need to be free for anything below high population.
And that’s pretty much it. Have 30 “servers”, 60, 90, I dont care. #1 solves the identity part and #2 solves the money grubbing transfer costs.
I’m curious if ANet would let us know:
Total Votes cast for Current Project Priority > Total Votes cast for Past World Linking
If the above is true…then this would “prove” that WvW must be growing in players, or at least by players that vote in Polls.
If so…how much did it INCREASE by or DECREASE for that matter?
Just wondering…
No, that would only prove that more voted on this vote than previous ones.
Anet most likely have much better metrics to show average WvW population over time.
And they probably wont show you either.
Just keep the passive effect simple and the explosion meaningfull and a constant presence would work fine. For example, I’d change the medic gyro to pulse regeneration (ie it can be boonstripped etc). This would be no difference from a rev having constant regen so it cant be OP (and unlike the rev, the gyro can intentionally be targetted). Sneak gyro would be the trickiest thing but one could change it to not be constant stealth, but rather quickly hide and stealth attack on longer intervals (like, every 15s it stealth you for 3s or something)
For the explosion to be meaningfull I would do something totally off the wall, like give it a daze. Yes I know, you can pick up your jaw now!!!

Problem is that when its effective in a condition build, you kitten either the flamethrower or your condition damage because its either juggernaut or incendiary powder.
Might is not that usefull in a condition build … IP is much more important imho so i have no doubt on what to chose. Standard condi engi build is based on damage stacked by pistol 4 and IP and bleeding from autoattacks. Other condiotions help and are a good coverage but the burst come from these 2 .
Well maybe I should have said “effective”. Thats exactly what I meant. To fully use the ft, you cant fully spec condi. Incendiary is a given.
All 1U1D does is increase the rate at which servers trade tiers. It doesn’t actually affect volatility unless players make those changes by transferring and stacking, which is what you genuinely don’t want when looking into the future,
Which of course is exactly what will happen. I know it, you know it, everybody knows it. When people know a matchup winning server will go up in tier, they gonna transfer there. 1u1d as a standalone change will IMO be way too volatile for WvW.
Also, I want teh lootz.
Flamethrower can be really good but it is a kit in which you can not camp in. It is effective only in a condition setup ( rabid+ dire or trabalizer or viper+ rabid ). I play with the same build i use in spvp ( classic ft, toolkit , elixir S build that you find in metabattle ) . I use FT for its toolbet skill and now flamejet is quite strong if your opponent has burning. In my opinion it is a good setup for roaming. I find it good in a condition setup , not in power . it is different from guardian burning becouse with engi you use many more conditions for covering burning. it is not probably strong as meta scrapper but it is much more fun to play .
Problem is that when its effective in a condition build, you kitten either the flamethrower or your condition damage because its either juggernaut or incendiary powder.
Tangled Depths. Entire Tangled Depths.
Come on, you know you love it.
So it’s not noticeable as it is in WvW where condi roamers kits completely outclass power kits 9 times out of 10 because of Dire, Trailblazer gear and Perplexity Runes.
That 1 out 10 times being a warrior with such godly hp regen you cant even get them below 95% hp while they take about 20% of your hp per auto-attack due to being a “glass” cannon, completely nullifying condi specs?
Yep toss that kittenty drive and get an ssd.
No AoE should ever go through objects
That would mean that rams cannot launch opponents reparing the gate, wells, marks, traps wouldn’t hit through the gate, ACs, cannons, trebs and catas couldn’t hit you from the other side of the gate. This clearly wasn’t the intention of Arenanet here, they wanted some AoE to hit through the gate, just not through the wall, thus making those two structures different in fighting scenarios.
I am unsure about this issue, if it is a bug or not. I personally like the different ways attacks work (so for example this attack won’t hit if there is a crack in the ground between you and the attacker), but you guys are right: if it is a bug, it should be fixed. If it is not, it would be nice to have someone tell us it is intentional.
Actually, yes. Thats exactly what it would mean.
The attacks can be solved in other ways, for example ram knockback. You could change the attack to make the door unrepairable over 10s instead, giving door ramming an aspect similar to cata shielding.
Like Dragons tooth before the ground target change, I think this is intentional. Same with terrain disruption.
“Intentional” in this case being how this type of AoE works on a code level and Anet not bothering to “fix” it.
No AoE should ever go through objects but you see thats pretty complicated math. Its easier to damage everything in the circle than calculate whether objects are blocked by terrain or statics. Its the same reason why cata/treb/cannon/etc damage go through doors or why arrowcarts can be placed out of sight. GW2 has an impressive and extensive missile system for an MMO otherwise but the impacts… not so much.
I would argue that they should fix all this instead of us arguing that one bug is required because other bugs exist (lol) but nah, it aint gonna happen. Instead, they can simply delete current CoR by changing the way the AoE works instead, we have plenty of ingame attacks that “shoot” AoE in front but is blocked by objects. And they could delete the lootstick while they are at it.
Anet can easily address this by removing your death/reaper shroud, if thats what you want. Also remove the staff for good measure.
The reason necros are being focused have nothing to do with with balance against other classes. Its because you got so much AoE, boon removal and condi transfers you become an enemy liability. You cant stomp people with a necro around. You cant cleave a ressing necro as they will just sit safe in shroud. Necros will make you loose. Ergo, kill the necro.
I tried to make a more focused small group support guard in WvW once, with lots of heals (not just meditation).
Its pretty pointless to consider over dh. Building for more AoE healing means gimping your offensive capabilities with very little gains over base. Just go full marauder with traps plus a few medi heals and roflstomp people, thats your “support”. The dh is kind of funny with the the F2 heal being the eqvivalent of a class heal…
Why only spears? Why not tridents? Why not spear guns?
I think there is potential there, but would want them to get all current weapons to all professions first through upcoming elite specs.
Tridents as a weapon would be spears limited to stabbing. And spearguns would be rifles.
And spears is just staves with pointy ends. Meaning, we got them already.
Well you didnt post the build so kind of hard to say…
I’ve been running rabid p/p all gyro scrapper since HoT release and its still decent but with Anet intent of killing off gyros due to purity of purpose a core build is looking more interesting by the day. Maybe thats what they meant?
Mesmer is problem not gear. Condi mesmer doesn’t even need defense at all if he isn’t totally braindead player.
The gear is a big part of this particular issue. Yes, mesmer has always been a strong roamer and chrono makes it even stronger, but most condi builds before dire had to make compromises. You could have vitality but not toughness, vice versa or hybrid. You couldnt go max tank with max condi.
Either way even if mesmer need tweaking, fixing dire and similar sets should be the first priority. It would strike a blow to other builds at the very top of the cheeze chain as well.
Like, why ever take fresh air over scrapper/mes/staff theif/rev?
Why take anything over the 5 best meta builds on the 5 best classes? That’s always been the core issue with GW2 sPvP. There’s no room for others. Maybe its ele this patch, maybe its the thief next patch or the warrior the patch after that. It doesnt matter what Anet do. They can never get it right because that’s how they designed sPvP.
I miss the 8v8 matches we had at launch :/
Hey, Mordremoth was the jungle. We killed a jungle. No mod in the world can get rid of that one.
Not a single tree was killed, unless that thing at dragons stand count as a tree… even so, we didnt technically kill it, it was killed by slapping its face on a rock.
Blighting trees are trees too. 3 of those in dragon’s stand, plus others.
Yeah but the trees where dead before.

I can see the idea that other players would be able to see that there’s a tag to follow, and I accept that this might bring more players into the map if there is. I just feel that with a Commander Counter showing whether there’s a tag up or not before you log in, players who are “followers” will not even bother logging into the map, and so not even read the map chat to see what’s going on. You could easily end up with less players because everyone is waiting for someone else to tag up!
I think you may have misunderstood why I mentioned “good commanders”. Many players are reluctant to tag up because they feel they won’t do a good job. My point was that good commanders will help with advice and possibly even training if you ask. In fact in my experience the better commanders are quite happy to share their ideas, tactics and work load. Same thing with veteran players.
Well whats worse? Having 30 people on the map where 20 is AFK in spawn due to no one having tagged up or 10 people playing on the map? People that wont play without a commander wont do it regardless of showing it or not.
The last part is true but still not relevant to this topic thats about the user interface.
Trees havent grown in GW2 since the devs planted them on the maps 5-6+ years ago (although the HoT jungle is of course a bit younger).
We don’t need this.
If you don’t see a commander but want to play, tag up yourself. Tell people you are a new commander, listen to the advice from veteran players and learn from your mistakes (we all make them). You’ll be surprised how quickly players will flock to a tag.
Be aware that sometimes you’ll be more successful than others, and be prepared for players to interpret your directions in a range of ways… At least you can bask in the warm feeling that you are now helping other less brave players to enjoy the game too.
If you know a good commander watch what they do and why. Ask them for training or advice. At the very least you can ask yourself what they would do in your situation and then try it yourself.
TLDR: Tagging up is better than standing around in Citadel, or logging out, doing nothing to save your BL because you can’t see a Commander to follow. Be brave: all the good commanders started like this.
That’s one way to look at it.
Another is if you tag up and there’s no one on the map or barely anyone in WvW, people outside the map in PvE can easily see that there is someone tagged up and may be inclined to join. More people, more activity, more fights. You said it yourself – you’ll be surprised how quickly players flock to a tag. So why not show it? Saying “we dont need it” is like saying we dont need commander squads. We did just fine when the tag was just an icon above someones head and you had to stack to check supplies.
This idea really have nothing to do with “good commanders”, dont quite see why you even bring that into the argument… This is about the system, not the player.

DH is pretty much in the state of Scrapper and Druid in spvp.
Oh you mean pre-patch?
Because otherwise I fail to see how traited dazing DH traps with amazing power damage that you can doublepop due to going on cd when placing them is anywhere close to the state of fixed damage scaling scrapper gyros you dont even know where they will pop due to flying all over the place that also got their daze entirerly removed (but not the passive grandmaster trait that increase daze duration) due to “purity of purpose”.
3:Scrapper Utility “Gyros” I love these things but kitten why are they so slow!? Gyros need permanent superspeed while they are active or perhaps reworked to be objects attached to the engineer like “Function Gyro”
I have always thought having them mobile and seeing them skitter about was a fun aspect and accepted it as a flaw but with the nerf to daze I would be more than willing to accept reliable fixed AoE. The way they are now compared to say DH traps is absolutely ridiculous.
Match should start with Ctrl+t already on the Necro.
Even better if the necro start the match dead.
We suggested having the server in the tag before the link system even went live (because the coming issue of identity was so blatantly obvious). It would be a miracle if they changed anything now.
idk if this happens in other races, but the asuras always drop a smile when they use poison dart volley :P
I just blowtorch their faces off.
Normally run p/p in pvp and dont have huge problems with any of those classes.
Mesmers can be tricky but if you bring enough condi cleanse they can be dealt with. Being able to get condi bursts in that tick while they try to flee/stealth helps.
DH is just a matter of avoiding traps, because they all bring traps. If it’s a zerker they will burn fast, if its something tankier well you might as well run to another point and be usefull because you’re not gonna break through this side of the week. A single well timed reflect bubble can often win the fight.
Thieves is generally the simplest foes unless they hit you in the back while you got like 30% HP and everything on cooldown (the little kittens). Traiting into protection on cc takes the brunt off the initial strike while the counterattack can take 60-80% off their HP unless they are really good at being a jumping bean.
Either way, PvP is all about position, position and even more position. Whether you can beat said builds is irrelevant as long as you survive long enough for someone to +1. Beating them is a bonus.
Also, unlike the above suggestion I would not recommend to doge roll. Everyone will just laugh at you for looking like a drunk Shiba.
I dedicate that clip to this thread and I truly feel for all the poor humiliated rangers in the world (not really).
Dont worry, they added leather nodes to WvW! I mean you only get jute scraps 99 out of 100 times, but still Anet is on it!!!
Now I only get 20 inventory slots, with 4 more options of 4 slot bags, which in my opinion is not enough slots.
Bags are bought on the AH or crafted, up to 20 slots per bag. You only need to do dailies for like a week and you easily afford a full set of 18 slotters. So do the daily.
Regarding the camera, be sure to set a key to toggle action camera, you might find a mouselocked view better to your liking that free look.
Same reason why condi ghost thief hasnt been touched?
Due to the entire game being about standing on a 3m wide circle and bunkering, Anet dont consider stealth OP in PvP even to the point of permastealth in combat. Because stealth doesnt cap points. Meaning the mesmer and thief can never be OP in PvP no matter how strong they are.
For no particular reason I decided to mock up how I imagined such a thing would look like. The 3 largest groups would be presented (it became 3 due to the size of the other border names, but I didnt do them lol) and the transparent tag is unfilled slots, ie there is no more tags on the border. The name would be hover over info from the center of the hovered tag.
,
Pff why don’t they just use 2 categories: PVE and PVP….This would make it a lot easier to balance skills and classes. GW1 had thousands of skills and they were pretty much able to balance that game for both PVP and PVE. GW2 has few skills and, so far, aNet has dine anything, BUT do a decent job when it comes to balancing. Why trying to make it even more difficult by adding a 3rd cat? WvW = PVP no matter how you look at it….
Yeah good luck with that.
PvP in GW2 is holding a 3m wide circle. Thats why thieves and permastealth or teleporting 50km away in 0.32 seconds has never been addressed, because in Anets world that make you loose the battle for the square meter you are standing on, hence its totally ok PvP wise.
WvW is for the most part not PvP.
I’ve always taken it that you transform into a lich, not the other way around.
Nope. All necros are male liches to begin with, they transform to any given race and gender.
When you transform “into” the lich, you are actually just breaking concentration to transform out your humanoid form.
So basicly they are all transformers: liches in disguise.
I dont like it that way in the pic, if markers are to be on the map selection then obviously they should line up left to right per map button. Probably up to a max of 4, I fail to see the point of cluttering it up even if there’s like a dozen guilds that’s tagged up, just list the 4 largest groups in order. This would also enable much larger icons and thus easier hover over info rather than cramping tiny icons together on top of each other.
From where I sit, it looks less like the raw damage coefficients are that much better
Ignoring the fact that every elite spec offer significantly more raw damage at same or better sustain.
Either way, we knew this from day 1 of HoT. Sure I can hope that any new elite specs “only” offer variations of play but I think we all know they are undoubtedly going to be better than vanilla. Question is if they are better than HoT elites.
Where is your empirical evidence that a majority of WvW players want it? Or did you just decide to speak for a majority of WvW players out of the blue?
And Hoelbrak runes give -20% condi duration applied on you which must means it apply on your condition duration stat. I think.
The thing that separates this imo from other condi builds is the way burning hits hard and fast meaning you have to cleanse quick or die
Yet you chose p/s to pick on – a set that cripples the burn capability of the engie.
To me thats about as logical as claiming nomad guardian with mace/shield is a cheese build.
I did notice you mentioned it was designed to go after thieves, lol… yeah sure maybe a really defensive build help against if it still got enough condi damage. I still find it rather amusing that you call out a build on cheese thats designed to kill an entire class that thrive on cheese and exactly the kind of tactic you attribute your p/s cheese engie… except in the middle of open fields and theres 1000x more of them.
(edited by Dawdler.8521)
I dont think so. A DH has plenty of defense and may be a dangerous foe when skilled, but it if the DH build for damage, he’ll equal the hp of the DD. A good DD will burst through that in a second. If the traps miss, the DH is toast. If they hit… well you know.
Yeah Dawdler, you really should think a bit more especially given the context. It’s a cheesy build because of the way you go about it. Jump on a person loading up with conditions and running away if they can cleanse it when you CC them.
Then every condi build is a cheesy build because every condi player can do that.
Also every power build is a cheesy build because every power build can do that too (except with direct damage).
There is a difference between cheesy tactics and cheesy builds.
.
So an example would be that lovely incendiary ammo P/S scrapper with double elixir S, stealth gyro, gear shield and normal shield who hangs around a tower and doesn’t venture out further than his elixir S procs will get him back in. Loads up a target with burns and 4-5 other conditions and melts them before running away, waits on cool downs and does again, that is cheese.
P/s?
Hahahaha you have no idea what you are even talking about. No one in their right mind use the shield nowadays. A p/s engie is in now way capable of “melting” anyone, just going p/s instead of p/p is a 50%+ drop in potential condi dps.
At best using toolkit then confusions can do some damage, but its still nothing compared to what a perplexity mesmer can do.
Most go tanky hammer today as even marauder can achieve tons of sustain with tons of damage on a scrapper.
