From what I can gather from the forums and Reddit, it appears that GW2 servers are partially down at the moment.

That… is ridiculous. And a little alarming.

Unless they have removed most of the backbone, GW2 has never shown such a message before because servers cant technically become full (the server state is WvW activity), not even at release with alot more than current population. In the first year GW2 peaked at like 500K+ users logged on at the same time and rarely suffered issues.

If you make it impossible for the BS with cata/treb splash damage/supply drain going through doors making it impossible to deploy rams on well defended objectives, cata splash hurting itself is an acceptable compromise.

What about putting an objective in the middle of all the maps, for instance an orb.

When someone takes it they then get a tag like a commander tag but with a different shape for instance, this person the generates an aura that gives a buff to friendly players within a certain area.

This orb can then in turn be taken by an enemy player by downing the holder. Give it a timer, say 10 minutes and then it resets to its starting area.

Don’t make the buff to OP but just enough to make it attractive.

What i’d like to see from this is more players out in the open fighting and less hiding behind walls.

Really just some random ponderings but what do think? Any other ideas come to mind?

You do know that WvW had orbs once, right? You took em from north camp and brought them to hills/bay as a map event.

Anet disabled them a short time after release due to exploits/bugs and promised (yes, literally promised) to bring them back after being fixed. A year or so later (or was it longer?), without them saying a word about it they finally hid all the evidence of orbs ever existing by removing the ramp behind north camp and destination shrines in the keeps. What we got instead was a horribly OP bloodlust mechanic (removal of the central lake and addition of the ruins) until they nerfed that.

So yeah. We aint ever gonna see orbs it again.

I ran almost exactly that build for while (well, more of the easily purchased zerker WvW armor because crafting is kittening expensive nowadays, maybe 150 vit less) but eventually I swapped out sc/sh for lb. It got better oomph smallscale and largescale I think. The scepter become… annoying… to handle.

The only thing I havent decided on is whether sw/f or sw/sh is the proper way to go for those scenarios.

Disagreement? Perhaps, yes. But more failing to see the point. I dont care if such an item is added, but I do care about introducing expensive time limited items in any game because that opens a whole can of worms that I’d rather see remain closed. What’s next? 30 day outfit contracts? 30 day weapons? Perhaps 30 days legendary skins, that’s be neat. Only $20!

Yeah well, that’s when the skill comes in and piken is probably a bit more skilled.

Skill does come naturally when you just run straight forward pushing 1 repeatedly wiht a zerg twice the size. But true, the veteran core of FSP has been considerably smaller than Piken for a long, long time. Links did little to improve that (and much of that core moving to Piken earlier this year didnt help either).

1. There is no permanent total makeover kit.
2. Those permanent kits are more rare and expensive than legendaries..

This would be anything but a downgrade.

Permanent is permanent. What is the total makeover kit? Oh that’s right – permanent. It’s consumed in the process, true. It’s still permanent, unless you buy another and change it again. You can preview all the changes in the editor.

We also already got the preview NPC and you could create a new character and delete if it you want.

Changing a character a million times in a month is not the RPG way. While we can change outfits at will, Anet even activly restrict us changing the character too much. We still dont have race change.

My bet is on Piken, sorry FSP (PS has got Jayne).

I am on FSP and even my bet is on Piken. 2 links overstacking us my kitten , lol.

We where running on Piken border with a whooping 25 man zerg on average (outmanned for 10 minutes on reset). Best moment of the evening was when defending bay against Piken – they where meeting us outside south inner with at least 30 people yet there where swords inside inner as another even bigger group was killing the lord. Trying to get back after death to fight some more? 50+ BB on the south outer gate as Piken capped the keep made that difficult.

But resets not to mention weekends is always zergy I suppose.

WvW build for average players?

I have played every class, every elite spec on pretty much every build variation you can imagine and the only ele I can play decently is full cleric healbot when zerging because it consist pretty much only of 70/30 water/fire. Works fine for capping camps at any tier but take a while and its poor as kitten when dueling (well, maybe one can down glass thieves or something if lucky)

Unless you have the hands of a squid and the memory of an elephant you’re gonna fail half the skills in the heat of battle. On a dps oriented ele, thats… not good. Average players and eles is a poor mix.

I don’t care how it happens, fact is that SM is T3 all the time and that is essentially a bad thing.

No, fact is that T3 keeps, towers and SM has been too overtuned ever since autoupgrades and fortified hit. Which in turn is aggravated by the fact that defensive siege like ACs has been overtuned for years. All it does is discourage physical PvP, ie fighting.

Its narrowminded to only see SM as an issue in this kittenpile.

Featurewise, this already exist in the game. Its what they did during the Shatterer invasion of Ashford. Players became corrupted (ie got an “outfit” complete with new skills) and fought other players.

Anet hasnt repeated that for 4.5 or so years, it would be fun to see it again.

example in all 4 borderland:

red 10 players, blue 30 players, green 75 players

red will gain ppt/ppk +20 againts blue (because 30-10= 20)

example: red player kill blue player, 1 points (ppk) + 20 points (bonus outnumbered) = 21 points

red will gain ppt/ppl +65 against green server. (75-10 = 65)

red player kill 1 green player = 1+65 = 66 points per kill

if camps give 5 points, then 5+65 (green), 5+20 (blue)

only outnumbered server get this buff.

2 servers filling all borders at around 80 people each and one server having no one one any border, means that server will tick at least 480, which is match winning PPT (or about 3x as much). If a server just plays on EB then that server always win (just tell guilds to go EoTM or move to another server so that server can loose lol).

No. We have tested this a lot within my guild using dps meters. If played correctly, the Ele’s healing does not even come remotely close to what Druids can achieve. I am talking ~1,2mio healing Druid vs ~350k Ele in a 6min fight ~20v20. This however requires the group to stay tight and focused, which is often not the case in a public setting. You are absolutely right about the arrows though. I would also agree that you would still rather have 3 eles instead of 3 druids but 1-2eles + 1-2 druids > 3 eles, definitely.

How do you count that? For a healbot tempest Soothing Mists alone would reach your 1m healing over 6min and thats only the passive heal.

Druid, thief, mesmer are going to the most complimentary builds to run in small scale with a thief. We run two thieves, one power and one condi. We consistently take on 2-3 times our number usually downing 2+ before scurrying off for a reset.

That’s not technically taking on 2-3 times your numbers, that’s ganking about the same number 2-3 times.

Opinions is all you gonna get. Thats why its a forum.

Especially when the correct answer to those questions is any class. There are a few combos that synergize better than others, but if the players behind them dont know how to play them well… synergy is irrelevant.

What it depends on is more the purpose of the build. As an example, 2 daredevils could sneak around easily and doesnt leave one of them exposed, like a dd+reaper combo would. But on the other hand, you cant do kitten when facing bigger groups. 2 coordinated dragonhunters could faceplant 10 stacked people and wreck them, but they cant exactly sneak around.

Did you have any attacks on the catas that went through?

They have been behaving like this for years, especially when its laggy (ie zergy). The effect doesnt show but it is still there (projectiles just dissapear when they hit the invisible shield).

Unlike WvW that has constant upkeep (if dipping into the good stuff, spending 1g every 30m is easy), PvE has near zero upkeep once you got your gear. You’ll get the 300g eventually. Just dailies is 60 gold a month and you should be able to easily gain another 2-4 gold a day with casual PvE playing. Getting badges is easy – join EB just before prime, then follow the zerg. Again unless you actually play WvW every day where one can dump siege for hundreds of badges in minutes, PvErs got zero expenses. Eventually you will get 250 of them.

Here’s what they should do…make it so transferring has a 3 month cooldown. Server links every 2 months. Congrats, you can change servers, but you’ll be stuck there for a while after they relink.

So basicly, force them to be in a place they maybe dont want to be in for half a link.
Yes, that will surely make them love WvW and not make them toxic at all.

We’re in a rather silly situation when Anet creates a problem we the players saw coming a mile away when links was announced, but then players propose that the solution is to punish other players for it.

We could propose fixing the problem Anet created instead, but what the kitten do I know.

were you not around for the days of NS and Agg? Watch some of Serane’s videos, there are plenty of times where they go up against 40-50 man guild groups and wipe them with just 20-25 people.

If you played EU, maybe you’ve heard of Red Guard or Second Law? They’ve also got some solid blob busting vids where they take on guilds 2x their size and win.

NS, Agg, no.

RG? Yes because we had a guild member in RG and where on the same server in their early days, then when they jumped to another server we where quite proud to successfully defeat them using the school of fish blob tactic, lol.

Either way it only shows that you are still living i the past. When RG fought us we barely knew what we where doing. They where seen as invincible because huge enemy zergs shattered at the first impact when they tried to meet an organized hardcore melee train with a disorganized casual melee train. OP stability didnt exactly help either.

Are guilds still strong? Sure they are. 25 man can still be a challenge to 50 man. But skill on both sides has become much more equalized since the glory days of RG because pugs are now veterans.

To reiterate what I said before: this has nothing to do with proffession balance. If anything it shows there is more balance in fights now.

Thats not a simple personal goal. Its an MMO, you are meant to work together in the field. Getting to 80, crafting an exotic weapon, finding Lions Arch, thats simple goals. Taking on champion group event mobs is not supposed to be that. Its a group even for a reason.

With your argument, I could say that the Dragons Stand meta should be soloable. Its a simple goal to me. I dont want to play PvE, I only play WvW. Why isnt Dragons Stand soloable in 5 minutes?

On the upside, hopefully the fixed scores means that FSP drops to rank 2 so we can finally meet ranks 3-5 or around there. Have fun meeting only rank 8-12 Piken since thats apparently what rank 1 is meant to meet.

If Piken meet anything better than rank 8 next week your system is broken Anet.

Fights are basically decided by whatever group runs the tankiest compo with the most sustain. It’s extremely boring and needs to be reworked.

And before that it was decided by who could range kite the most behind heavy AoE bombs. And before that it was decided by who brought the biggest melee train. And before that it was decided by who could actually see the enemy since culling was kittened.

What will ever be good enough? We’ve basicly gone through everything, except maybe the single target thieves supported by full nomad eles meta.

I just want to go back to the days of zergbusting, where a skilled group of 15 could wipe a 50 man blob if they played smart enough.

As has been stated before, that is impossible. You cant go back to the zergbusting days and it has nothing to do with profession balance.

It was possible because it was 15 man guilds running full exotic level 80 characters with super secret WvW raiding builds fully buffed vs 50 randoms where 25+ where upscaled in green armor and no one had any idea what to build for or what food even was, following a commander that wasnt on TS and couldnt afford a tag or siege.

You cant have that back unless you start to lobotomize players. A “pug zerg” today mean 30-40 old guild raiders + randoms following what is most likely an old guild raiding commander, all with meta builds fully buffed. GG beating that with a 15 man equally equipped group.

There’s plenty of vids where 20 man guilds fought and won against 60 man guild groups.

And this weekend I won 1v3 on a build and class I have played for a week, not to mention going 1v15 and downing 4 of them because they where foolish enough to stack on a sentry. That was a 15 man guild group btw. They later fled from 5 random pugs and a third of their tail got killed.

There are still noobs in the game, but the vast majority is not that bad. In most scenarios your “20 man guilds beating 60 man guilds” will be 20 man in one guild alright, then they have 40 more pugs around them, while the other side is nowhere near 60 people.

This still has nothing to do with profession balance.

Guild halls and WvW upgrades is pretty much designed for 250+ people guilds. All of them going to a flax farm with say 5 characters… That’s alot of flax in 10 minutes.

It is very strange that the commander of the pact, the killer of 2 dragons, looks like a nomad and dont have his personnal bunker.

Whatever do you mean? Traherne is the hero that saved Tyria and killed a million monsters alone, everyone knows that. This “commander” you speak of is just a low level grunt doing the paperwork.

Anyway, all they need to do is furnitures for the home instance and bam done. Housing.

Anet needs to be very careful how they decide to buff thf, war and guard to make them desirable for esl level pvp and ele for every other form of pvp.

Oh you know they wont. Warrior self healing is still OP as kitten and makes it one of the best 1v1 classes in WvW – you better believe Anet gonna buff it for PvP and wreck it even more in WvW.

Its inevitable.

Honestly, your best bet is to play for free and try every melee class in the starter zones to get a feel. From your post, if I had to guess, I’d say rogue, but you might find warrior or even mesmer to your liking.

Well its not like it cost anything for you to try… personally I have trouble with burn guards as its literally a one trick pony. You have little in the way of other condis and once your burst is gone/cleansed its on a fairly long cd. Its only really good if you meet someone with absolutely zero condi cleanse or manage to surprise attack them. When it comes to guard, I think power is more flexible.

Anyway my only advice is to roam instead of playing with the zergs. Play borders, never EB. There is nothing one can do about skill lag whether you have 10 or 1000 ping.
