You dont need to be inquest scientist to realize that halloween will probably bring some gear/achievement/recipe/something that require fangs… looking at spidy, the cost has been increasing for several days now. Someone with 30k to blow and store that many fangs probably already have 200k+ gold so thats probably a minor investment.
Maybe once upon a time condition builds were mainly purposed to take down bunkers, but it’s really not about that anymore. Bunkers are bunkers because they do no damage (in my experience, honestly it has been a while) they’re nor much of a threat, just annoying.
Eh? But thats the entire problem. Since HoT (and to a degree, some time before due to certain gear stats) bunkers do a ton of damage. Look at all the new specs and weapons and you will notice that they are designed to do alot more baseline damage compared to vanilla or bunker alot more at the same damage as vanilla. Especially for classes that had 2/3 primary trees to begin with.

In WvW there are two types of roamers – the ones that run specific builds that can flee when things go south and the ones that stand and fight to the bitter end because fleeing is not an option.
Scrappers can build for both tbh but they dont get things for free like many other classes.
Its always your choice what build and class you bring. If you prefer the former I dont blaim you, I will just think you’re a cheezy coward
For zerging, its really just about a scrappers tactical use. Which eliminate it by 99% of commanders because there is no tactics used, its ball up, buff up and push which is pretty much custom tailored to GREN. The ability to stealth a small bomb party and flank an enemy zergball so you can get into their backline is vastly underestimated.
According to Anet the seasons burned people out and led to a decline in player activity.

This game is so imbalanced. Thieves have always been OP. So what if there’s a bunch of threads about it. How about anet actually does something about it? You shouldn’t get to shortbow away endlessly. And cleanse on dodge , etc . It’s dumb. Also, if a thief dies to wells, they are awful at the game.

It’s no where near as dumb as the amount of passives and God mode abiltys classes have vs thief though (DH/scrapper). What good is that thief doing if he does shortbow away? He has acplished nothing.
2 classes can counter the class that counters every other class and can disengage at will.

Scrapper gives a lot of access to superspeed which can be a unique and powerful niche in zerg fights.
Fun fact:
Golems are affected by superspeed and a single gyro scrapper have ~75% uptime of superspeed on 4 of them.
So they bring the most powerfull mobile siege engines in WvW, yet are rarely seen because nobody like them.

I mained a wvw scrapper since HoT release but has spent the last weeks running DH… yesterday I finally decided to move my mining tools to the DH because I dont play the scrapper so much.
First thing going through my mind this morning was “hmmm… maybe I can try a rifle build?”.
Its hard to let go of the stomp gyro in particular since it alone can win many outmanned fights. But all classes got their tricks. Variety is fun.
I just made my 77 as well for Nevermore. DO NOT EVER use the make 10 recipe. The more attempts, the closer to the RNG average you will get. Using the x10 recipe will just cost you more money if you aren’t lucky.
If it helps, I did keep track of my RNG rate and it was 24.7% of the time I got a clover.
And on top of that you can add do not use any recipe period. Reward tracks in both WvW and sPvP give tons of clovers.
Unless you plan on making a legendary on the spot right now in 5 minutes with all the gold and mats in your bank, clovers have exactly zero cost.

leading mostly during the day needs a lot of maphopping and since posting waypoints in mapchat leads to being restricted because of “spamming” after a while, teamchat was used for that
That “issue” literally make no sense, since with the new teamchat you can still post a waypoint in teamchat and make all maps see it, giving your borderhop zerg potential new joining players from entire WvW. The only thing we need is new standards on coms rather than diffuse quick links, like “[bay waypoint] borderhop 1 going here”.
Well unless of course they disabled teamchat within 5 minutes of release just like I did.

If we’re gonna start adjusting glicko like this, why not just make it fully RNG. Oh so your server won the matchup? Roll D12. 10-12 you get +100 points, 6-9 you get -50 points, otherwise you get 0 points.

This has been known since the era of hammertrains.
The counter to a melee heavy train is a ranged swarm. You dont stack, you dont push, you just slip away on the sides (or dodge straight through) and hit the rear. There are always people falling behind. As long as you can prevent the train from getting a solid target (ie 4+ kills in a single push), you can slowly wear them down. Kill them one by one until the train itself get so thin it start falling apart. Thats when you push hard.
Theres like 4000+ skins in the game compared to the handfull in the gemstore so Anet will need to do alot of work to balance.

Since they were making it more frequent they divided that number by 3 (~183) and rounded it up to 195.
Because rounding up to 200 was too meta for Anet.
Too much penalties for dying. If a 50 man zerg get wiped, you could loose 1000 supply. Getting that back is a freaking pain and take ages at current rates. Unless you have that amount readily available in spawn every respawn, you are effectivly telling the underdog that nope, you’re not allowed to take objectives. But that kind of spawn supply make camps pointles. If you buff camp regen, it’ll have to be +10 supps every 5 seconds or something. Which still means a zerg will stand there staring at the supply depot for 10 minutes or so.
So meaningless and boring changes that will punish the looser both with death and with resupply time. I fail to see the point.

I dont know what era they live in but you seem to live in an era pre-HoT where the builds in videos clearly doesnt match builds in the descriptions unless they got 5000 extra HP from a magical HP fairy or something.
The second condi thief build i mentioned is the d/p trap thief, also known as “ghost” or “perma stealth” thief . Main dmg will come from a combination of needle trap, steal and caltrops. Non of those attacks apply direct dmg, which allows the build to stay in stealth permanently – pretty much the only defense this build got. With mentioned combo it can apply a lot of different conditions at once, but not very high stacks, unless you can’t get rid of the immob, which will force you to stay inside the bleed stacking caltrops. This build lacks constant pressure, so with a few cleanse and/or healing skills and some experience at avoiding traps it is quite easy to counter. The perma stealth thing is a bit stupid design imo, but overall i don’t consider this build op.
Well thats a lie if I’ve ever seen one since they run dire/trailblazer with very high toughness and vitality and will unquestionable equip shortbow to teleport at will. They are the complete opposite of defenseless. Therein lies the problem.
The issue with condi isnt damage in itself, its dire type stat, plain and simple. Could argue trailblazer as well. They give you all the condi damage and all the survivaility, especially on classes that dont rely on critrate to stack condi. Even good old soldiers have drawbacks since you are missing 2 important dps stats.
Like others say, if someone miss a condi burst (say burn guard) they are weakened and can be countered by power dps. Well yes, except not only could they tick 5000 burn/s on you they also have strongest defense against both power and condi by having toughness and vitality.

Most if not all WvW power creep due to HoT comes from power builds, especially in zergs. The classes that are strong with condi now (thieves and mesmers most notable) havent changed much except for dire gear which I would be happy to see deleted along with a nerf to resistance.
The current small party I run with is dragonhunter + herald (both power). If I would expand that by one, it would probably be with a druid or scrapper. If I would add yet another peep on top of that… hm. Probably a daredevil or mesmer. After that I dont consider it a small group anymore. Even 4 is stretching it. At 5+ you can run pretty much any composition and faceroll because focus target become too easy.
Is it perhaps because it’s a DX9 game? I am not techy enough to answer that though. Maybe the GW2 engine is showing its age.
A graphics engine is not a piece of cheese, it wont grow mold just because its old :p
Does this happen even after a reinstall of the game? Just curious. Or at least after a shader cache/game config cleaning. I havent noticed anything different on my 1060 compared to how my 980Ti looked but I dont think I run with shadows maxed either (too much of a hog in WvW).
Even DBL guards are too bored to play on DBL.
Why they dont just change them all to perplexity ghost thieves I dont know. People going up to enemy spawn, then bam 10,000 confusion damage/s while being locked down for 10s. If they kill you, an NPC appear and start jumping on you then vanish again. If anyone attack the thief while its jumping it will shadowstep and backstab 5 people around him for 50K damage while turning that guy to stone for 3 minutes so he can think about what he just did.

I’m checking out other mmos and the writing is on the wall with anet, they are sloppy and disorganized compared to other establishments. I’m seeing much more organization and communication with the player base in the competitors forums in addition to attention to bugs/PM/future goals.

FFXIV is looking good to me and I just want to get back to having an immersive mmo gaming experience. I have a few friends on BDO and they seem happy with it for the most part.
Anet is all show and no go, let’s face it.
I tried both. FFIV feels like I’m back playing a game like WoW – which I don’t consider a good thing.
I only lasted about a half hour in free the trial of BDO. For a full-action game, it was extremely clunky, and in all seriousness, I felt combat to be very boring, particularly on the ranger, which seemed to just be about alternating spamming the AA button and the ‘S’ key to kite. Also, laughably cringy-terrible story.
The landscape out there at the moment is awful.
I wanted to like bdo, revisited it a couple times but like aion I just couldn’t get very high in lvl before realizing the pve only gets worse as you lvl up and then there is the never ending gear grind that if you fall behind on the curve you are out of the game. I did like BDO skill chaining conceptually, never did fully explore it obviously as I was low lvl.
In theory the BDO combat is quite good and fluent. I quite liked it in the beginning, the various combo actions, how you could use the movement keys and attack to various effects.
In practice you will be de-syncing and lag warping all over the place. And that’s ignoring other fatal flaws like the healing pots (bring 3508246720467 of them or you may loose the fight), insane gear difference (did you bring a +15 to a +16 fight? GTFO!!!) and stunlock bonanza.
GW2 is pure joy in comparison. Everytime I see one of those youtube videos kittening about how BDO is p2w, how they’re gonna leave the game now because it’s a quick money grubbing scheme and how Kakao kittens them up the butt with greed rivalling Konami yet still cry about how there is no game that give them those big, grand fights that BDO does… I laugh a little. Because GW2 does pretty much everything except griefing better.
So uh… what’s the difference between this and actually doing guild missions when representing the guild and getting all the boons from upgraded guild halls?

Except that you can start guild missions any time you want and “forced dependancy on other people” is literally what an MMO is all about.
Whats do you want, remove all gameplay? Maybe Anet should just give us 100g every time we log on. Or a free legendary of choice every time we kill a champion mob. Because clearly its too much work to play the game.

Ascalonian performer pants look great on Asura, its’ the only light pants I use.
I’m proposing this idea, because the supply camps don’t matter in WvW.
It’s just too bad they are absolutely critical at the same time.
Dollys both feed constant points and they upgrade/supply objectives… That’s important enough for most. Hell sometimes I have seen servers put more siege on a T0 camp than my server usually put on a T3 tower, just because they want to upgrade something.

I’ve seen people say this, “Remove the tiers”. What does that mean?
Tiers aren’t some artificial construct. They simply result naturally from the fact that it is a three way battle. Tiers are nothing more than the matches going on during a particular week. T1 = match between the 3 highest rated servers that week (after RNG), T2 = then next 3 servers, etc.
Yeah except that’s not really the case it? Matchups are randomized to the point that T1 servers can meet T3 servers. Therein lies the problem. You can never balance fights that way. That’s why server links wont work. That’s why adding more tiers wont work. With 4 tiers you are artificially locked to 4 matchups. With 5 tiers you are locked to 5 matchups. No more, no less. Nothing will work as long as tiers remain. The only way to move WvW forward is to remove them, period.
ESO is the best example (well, is it the only current one?) of how WvW “matchmaking” can be done. Dont get me wrong now – there are many parts about ESO I dont like when it comes to their Cyrodiil PvP – but the basic idea of generating battles and then filling them up is a good idea. EoTM sort of does something to that effect but not quite.
When you can do any number of matchups – 3 matchups, 4, 6 or whatever then that’s when you solve varying (and declining) populations. Instead of saying that T1 servers should fight each other because, well they are T1, you simply say that server A, B, C fights vs server D, E vs server F, G, H. That’s “matchup #1”. What tiers they are is irrelevant. What matters is that the average population and activity of the three sides is roughly equal.
Will we still have blowouts? Sure, probably. But we would have so much more flexibility in how matchups are made instead of pointlessly arguing about tiers. We would also have more flexible “server” setups. You could have 12 servers or 30, the number doesnt matter anymore without tiers.
Exactly how the ranking system behind such matchups would happen I dont really know. What I have suggested before is 3 factions ranked independantly. You get assigned to a color for 2 months. If you win your matchups, you get glicko points in your faction depending on how your server performed (even if you are in an A, B, C combo). So competion is narrower and done per faction. We would have 3 rank 1 servers for example. After 2 months, glicko reset, your server get some token rewards based on your rank and your color is randomized again (ie all the servers in the 3 factions are shuffled).
I have to agree with Fermi… unless you were well read on the subject, most consumers would (logically) assume the only difference between the 2 versions of the 1060 is the amount of VRAM. 1050Ti would have been a more honest and less confusing name.
Well if you get whats pretty much the lowest priced and best performing card available, do you expect to play everything maxed for the next 5 years? No. That would be silly.
I got an EVGA GTX1060 SC 3Gb this week and it performs about as good as my 980Ti (long story short, it went up in flames and is on RMA). The 6Gb version wasnt available but I know what I’m getting for a noticable lower price:
- Its only gonna be used for 1080p
- Got the EVGA specifically as backup for the 980Ti because I can use it to make a HTPC (its so tiny!)
- 6gb vs 3gb performance is nearly identical
- If it vram choke, turn down textures from ultra-super-awesome-high (-40% performance difference in Mirrors Edge per reviews) to only-awesome-high (-5% performance for virtually zero visible difference). Again, you are buying a freaking lowest cost budget version.
So pick your poison. Either version will be fine during its 1.5 or so years lifetime (medium-high end card I count about 3 years lifetime). But hey if you can get the 6Gb version and its your main gaming rig, get it kitten .
As a sidenote: EVGA 1060 SC and EVGA 1060 use different coolers. If people plan on that brand, get the SC (barely cost any more). MSI Gaming X is also supposed to have a good cooler.
If 100 people want to play Football you create 9 teams with 11 players and not one team with 100 players (11 on the field and 89 on the substitute’s bench). If the number of players change the number of teams has to follow.
Yes well except 40 of those 100 players only have the time to play every other match, 3 teams give up for the week and most other teams with 6-7/11 active people refuse to leave their team to balance same size teams because they dont fit all in the team they are supposed to join. Your comparison doesnt work.

they couldnt transfer to deso because it was full … they ofc used GEMS .. now they are
left alone in vabbi and cant play with us in deso .. * claps * goodjob .

There are too many variables to account for to be adding new features without understanding the problems of the old ones.
Actually there is only one variable that matter.
Tiers.
Thats the reason WvW cant be “fixed” no matter what you do. Anet are basicly saying they need 4 matchups, period, and trying to twist and turn like snakes around that. What if could be any number? 3? 5? 8? Just randomize a third of servers to a faction on a 1-2 months cycle, reset glicko to 0 and gain ranks within each faction based on performance and boom done. Hell we would effectivly get viable “tournaments” for free (or at least a cycle of winners).
I havent dug into CPUs lately but the argument has always been simple:
The i3 doesnt cut it and the i7 has been overly expensive.
Why you drag old mobile GPUs into the argument I dont know, performance will be all over the place since its they rebrand previous generations to look like newer generations. But there the argument is similar:
Sub-budget to budget doesnt cut it and top tier is often overly expensive.
i5 vs i7 is traditionally basicly a 1070 vs Titan X deal.

Well then go sPvP nothing stopping anyone. Problem with WvW tournaments is that its chaos. Its war. People have no control over what server wins – there is simply too much people. In sPvP teams can be controlled and just one person slacking or being good can decide a match. The tier separation is also working heavily against fair matches.
Personally I would prefer splitting the faction rankings instead. Spreads out victors and loosers much better (you would essentially have 3 rank 1 servers).
I can’t say about EU, but this is exactly the opposite in NA. NA never had this much matchup variance as before.

The linking system is so broken it literally traverse space and time as the main fault for servers failing, since servers bouncing up and down the last 4 years has been standard practice.

Spirit shards drop from pretty much every loot box and tomes in reward tracks. I dont even know what to do with them, drowning in thousands upon thousands of shards. I havent even done a single raid
Level up until you can go into sPvP – you will be instant 80 with all skills unlocked. You can try some combat vs AI in the PvP lobby.
Otherwise, I say focus on whatever you like. All classes are playable in any mode, although some excel where others dont. If you plan on doing WvW, I recommend one of the big GREN – Guardian, Revenant, Elementalist or Necromancer.
If you enjoy the game, a priority is to get 9 character slots so you can have all the classes. Since GW2 max out easily and has so many account bound achievements and stuff you can play them all without being punished in terms of progression.
