Stand in the lord room or on the western wall (it helps if you own it, lol). Now look straight west.

See that sentry standing by the tall cliff?

On ABL, that’s the distance to bay outer walls when you stand in the SW tower and look NW.

Except this is a dream. Look at all the subscription MMOs (well the few that survive). Has throwing money at them magically fixed any basic issues on the PC platform like lag and graphical slowdowns during load? I mean sure they often have better customer support but the idea that monthly payments == better coded game is just… bizarre.

What would we have to pay to stop EVE from time dilation during heavy loads when the server start chugging? $100 a month, do you think that help?

Well it is all good that FSP are now able to fight the french servers. But what about the other servers that are fighting FSP? Gandara and Deso have no way of responding to the HUGE amount of players that FSP have at any part of the day and night. I mean wasn’t there suppose to be something done about night cap?
Look at night cap on tier 1. Join us on prime time and watch the mega blobs on every border for your self and i think you will understand.

Yes, look at it. Look at the nightcapping. FSP is always lowest (or at best equal) score while Desolation dominated the weekend nights.

Not really, reading between the lines GW2 has been unable to sustain itself and has had to resort to xpacs at a premium price point and putting more and more items on the gem store and even then it is failing.

Oh? Care to indulge me on how much the next WoW expansion will cost? Because it sure need that premium price to survive, please support the failing WoW, it’s so unable to sustain itself!

And I bet Legion will also bring 24/7 realm vs realm warfare to make it extra worth the subscription cost.

Problem with ESO wasn’t the sub, the combat was initially very clunky which meant guilds didn’t really support it, then its pvp was hamstrung by severe balance issues. Its getting it right now though.

Which was exactly my point. When combat is clunky, guilds dont work and PvP is plagued by balance issues… people dont want to pay sub. They leave. If ESO had been just B2P from the start it would probably have taken alot more player from GW2 and created a sustainable community from the start.

No. Because why should I? GW2 has shown there is a better way. Nearly all subscription MMOs has failed since like…. 2005. Developers that change their mind halfway through often end up with an even worse game. We would pretty much already have had this grand realm vs realm game with ESO but nope, subscription and people didnt give it enough time to settle. Sure its b2p now but that release totally kittened it over. Thats what subscription MMOs does, drive people away before devs even have the time to fix the game and chances are very high they never come back. In a game like GW2, they can always come back.

So no, I wouldnt, because I know such a game has near zero chance to survive even a year. So why invest?

And the price on the TP is the price set by players.

The price will come down if players come in and sell them for less. They would not remain at a price if players were not willing to buy them at that price.

So if you want to do something about it, get the recipe and make them and then sell them for whatever price you think they are worth.

Lol have you even checked ingredients? A tuning station for example require 5 spiritwood planks. Five.

Thats 40g alone in raw mats for something thats worth about 10 silvers for a single player.

You dont even need new gui stuff, just an outfit that change your character. We already got that partially with the unguligrade hooves or the blue smurf outfit for example.

This however require a ton of new animations I doubt skritt has anywhere near all class animations. Anet cant even give us race change (which require no new animations and already exist by proxy, like when you turn into Charr or Sylvari temporarily) so this should be entirely out of the question.

Its a trap. Literally. People transfer to both servers. Lots of gems shift hands. Then in 2 months you split the trap from the bait (FSP) and make another trap with the next juicy bait.

I don’t know how to fix the population issue. I do know that I like belonging to a named server, seeing the same commanders on the map, the same people. My concern which having instances in three colours would be that you would lose this feeling of belonging to a server and the degree of ‘pride’ that comes with that.

Server pride still works if we move glicko matchups to glicko-esque rankings within factions instead. Matchups would be based on average activity/pop and there wouldnt always be a fixed amount (ie one week there could be 6 matchups, the next 5, the week after that 7 etc). Basicly a much more dynamic variant of linking, without having links.

This assumes that we differentiate servers ingame however – while points you gain for your color go toward matchup points, it would also go toward server points. So lets say if Deso + FSP end up together on red in a matchup (poor example I know, lol) then you would see Deso having 3500 points and holding specific objectives while FSP have 4000 points holding specific objectives. Together red has 7500 points in that matchup.

Then after say… 4-6 months, you get some loot depending on your server rank in the faction. All ranks and server points reset, servers get randomized for the 3 factions and the war begin again.

They said that DBL took what, 1-2 years to make? That seems insane to me as they could have just taken any existing setting in the game (we got snow, jungle, grassland, orr, desert, plains, island and corruption) and reworked ABL around those visuals but nope.

I seriously doubt we will get a third map after the DBL debacle. And if we do… lets just say I question whether we want it.

yep, now all the glory hunters are transferring to fps via proxy. I hope they enjoy their 2 hour queue to fight an empty server as their enemy will give up due to the one sided battle

You say that like FSP didnt have 120+ man queues for EB earlier this year before the link system was even made. I am curious to see if we can have that beat. But granted, 3x DBL was probably responsibly for half those numbers.

I can solo all 4 towers and I’ve duo Earth and Fire keeps. Never got anything at Air with less than 5 tho. The CC fiesta is too strong.

We duoloed air – thief and warrior – we called it quits on fire though.

Fire become quite easy once you realize that her cc break on stairs…

In my experience that kittening teleporting ogre is more annoying to fight than all the keep lords.

What are the other specs of your computer? And which model of psu did you buy?

Relating to the gpu, a 1060 is absurdly an overkill for gw2. It might be better to get a rx 460, gtx 950 and upgrade the cpu or take an ssd.

There is no such thing as absurd overkill when it comes to hardware. Everything becomes obsolete with time. Its all about value. If someone say “well my budget $200” then I will always recommend a $250 card that’ll last maybe 3 years in terms of performance vs a $150 card that’ll last maybe 1 year. This is especially important if the person already got a kittenty CPU that need to be replaced within the year.

But of course that value is up to each person, its the OPs choice. If he just want a toaster that run GW2 then even a 460 is “overkill” as well, a used card thats 4 years old should do the trick.

Its one of the worst option because forcibly stopping people from playing due to the opposing server having no players is a sure way to drive people off from the game for good. One server could easily grief the others simply by choosing not play on EB or a border.

Scaling up or down instances would only work you scrapped servers and let everyone join FFA EoTM style.

Good luck with that.

As someone on FSP, I fully expected us to go solo this link period. This… is absolutely ridiculous.

Yesterday was the most boring reset I have seen since the early days of HoT when everybody was farming elites and hated on DBL. Well except its a little more loopsided. We had a 50 man on DBL and fought a 5 man like twice and a couple 1-2 man groups. Commander went to EoTM looking for yellow swords instead and I jumped out to do some PvE because kitten those queues..

Saying near infinite rallies is a beloved and critical portion of WvW is ridiculous. Never ending rallies is a lame system centered around weak play and superior numbers.

We dont have near infinite rallies unless you allow it. If you cant stomp them after several tries… well then you lost the fight already. You failed, end of story.

Without the downed state, all you’d see in WvW is pinsniping 100% of the time, every engagement. Get him down and it’s game over for the other group, he’s dead and cant be ressed, lol. Fun fun. Rallying and ressing mechanics allow for some flexibility.

There are more tools for rallying a player than there are tools for stomping them. One Guardian in the mix can easily invulnerable rally a player while reflecting everything landing on them.

Why should players that get downed twice in 60s not die? What is the justification for allowing a player to continually rally despite poor play?

BTW it gets particularly annoying when a player goes down they become invuln for a couple seconds making timing fast stomps overly difficult.

And there are even more tools to prevent people rallying. One necro in the mix can easily bomb the downed player delaying said guardian enough for a stomp.

Whats the justification? Teamplay. Yes, its as simple as that. This is an MMO and rallying makes us help each other. Its a core mechanic and why GW2 is fun for a large amount of people rather than only the small elite. Remove rallying and you will kill the game.

The invoulnerability is irrelevant with the proper tools, lol. A scrapper can deploy stmp gyro the instant a player goes down. 3s is all you need. Sometimes thats not enough, sure. But most of the time you can even exploit the fact that people wait for res. so many times someone go down, several people rush in seconds after, no one of us around and then stomp with them nicely clumped together for AoE a second after that.

That logic should only apply in large scale zerg fights, not in small scale roamer fights and skirmishes wherein every player has a bigger value than a zergling. Players should be rewarded for outplaying enemies, much more against a larger group. The counter before auto-death for getting ressed or rallying should be reduced.

Logic? It’s the facts of combat. You said it yourself – you had 7 vs 12. That’s nearly a 2:1 advantage for the enemy. 1v2 in practically any scenario assuming equal skill and any classes is going to be a hard fight. All these videos of people going 1v2, 1v3, 1v4 or 10 man guild groups taking on 30 man zergs is a matter of different skill levels or builds meeting their perfect counter. They are not representive of any kind of average WvW play where yes, that “logic” apply across the board.

And no, we had 0 scrappers and I doubt scrappers could do much against an organized DH heavy guild group. We had 3 condi users (2 Rev, 1 Reaper) and 4 power users (2 Tempests, DH, Chrono). We obviously had the upper hand in mobility and personal DPS and I believe we used it to our advantage decently well. The fight took 6 minutes before we got wiped and we got our first double downie at the 5 minute mark.

Then you have no idea what scrappers are capable of in small scale combat and what they bring to the table with their ranged stomp.

You probably did a good job fighting a numerically superior force for that long, but you still brought an obvious GREN zerg composition (albeit a smaller group) to fight against what I can only assume was a bigger GREN group. But your group wasnt good enough (or they wherent bad enough) to weigh up for the difference in numbers and you didnt bring any tools that could have tipped the scales. Numbers won. Outcome obvious.

If that link doesn’t work, its an xfx radeon rx470. Only 2 reviews there but both gave it 5 stars.

You can get the considerably faster GTX 1060 (or similar in DX12, but GW2 is far from that tech) for around $220 or so.

Sub-budget <$200 cards are generally crippled kitten. If you want sub $200 and a decent card, only a used card is a decent option.

Easiest and fastest solution so people stop crying about “its too big” move spawnpoint with northcamp so its more south e.g. equal to Alpine Borders. It will give the people the feeling that its smaller and it will be more equal and fair in comparison with Alpine.

That does very little to fix it.

The fundamental issues remains simple to define:
- NW and NE towers are too far from garri and doesnt offer any home defense in terms of movement.
-SW and SE towers are too far from east/west keeps.
- All 3 keeps are so big and complex its hard to overview and scout paths around them.

These issues also remain impossible to fix unless the map is redesigned on the whole. Just like we knew day 1 of HoT release. You can only bandaid it.

I’m not entirely sure if it’s supposed to work this way.
Rally in downed state is -25% HP each rally.
Ressed by team – always 75% HP when you get up

Being ressed is seriously BS. I play in a roaming group and there was a time my party and another roaming party (total of 7) fought a 12~ man guild group. We downed this player 3 times in a span of 10 seconds. Since it was an organized guild group, they always mass ressed him the moment he downed and he always came back up with 75% HP.

Obviously, we lost because we’re unable to secure stomps and they had the upper hand due to superior cleave so we couldn’t res our own without blowing everyone’s invuls.

So you’re saying that you lost because the enemy outnumbered you so much you couldnt win?

Yes, thats exactly how its supposed to work. In WvW, in sPvP and even in PvE. Thats how all games work when you fight enemies and they kill you.

I’d also like to know how many Scrappers you had because if you dont say at least 2 then you brought screwdrivers to hammer in nails. Sure it will eventually work if you are completely backwards but bringing the proper tools is always better.

Afaik that part is still working, but I think rallying has behaved oddly for a while now. Seen some wierd kitten with people getting up from seemingly nothing at all – and I have experienced myself, suddenly getting up with no one killed.

It is indeed slightly P2W, but not for the reasons you describe.

You need to buy HoT to run the current meta on most classes, if not all. This was of course by design, as Anet needed to provide incentive to purchase the expansion beyond new maps, new skins, etc.

To win the meta maybe, not the game. You can certainly play without having to play the meta config in anything but what, raids? Which are HoT anyway?

That’s a little disingenuous, Orenwolf.

You need meta builds to play at the highest level in any game mode, be it PvE, WvW, or PvP. Playing anything less than the meta results in fewer rewards over time. It also results in salt from teammates who only want other meta players on their team.

Yes you can play non-meta builds in any game mode. That is, in fact, what I do. And I own HoT. But it’s a joke to suggest that the playing field is level when going up against (or playing along side) HoT builds that dish out more damage, soak more damage, have more defensive procs, etc.

Skill and experience can overcome this handicap only to a certain extent.

Again, the game is P2W just a little, not a lot. The OP is right, just for the wrong reasons.

You are talking about paying for the game, more specifically HoT, the only version available today aside GW2 free trial. Thats B2P.

P2W by any definition assumes repeating running costs next to a F2P/B2P mode in order to always keep those paying a little above the rest. Thats why expansions are not P2W, thats why singleplayer games are not P2W, thats why most multiplayer game are not P2W. GW2 may have both later things, but there are no running costs that make players above the rest. A single expansion in 4 years is not enough, especially not when we assume what a new player buying HoT get vs someone that’s played HoT for 8 months and paid for 1800 gems every month. The 8 months of experience is great – the 1800 gems a month give them… guess what…. an 8 months advantage in time played. Every month that pass after this even with one still shelling out for gems make no difference, its just time played.

If you do not make that distinction, even by a little – which you dont – then pretty much every game is P2W. Witcher 3? P2W, it got expansions! Battlefield 4? P2W, it got so much DLC! Total War Warhammer? Pre-order bonus included another faction, you better believe thats P2W! World Of Warcraft? So totally P2W.

Gear isnt endgame in GW2. Its never been.

The game itself is endgame and no amount of gems will play the game for you.

Server loyalty died in 2014.

Personally, as someone whose only ever been on 2 servers, both of which I’ve been apart of for approximately 2 years each, I’m in favour of scrapping the current servers completely.

Create 6 new servers resulting in 2 tiers, make players select a new server and start from scratch.

This doesnt work in practice. Whatever the solution is, Anet would have to guarantee that guilds land on the same server. Making players select a new server while ignoring this is unacceptable.

Invuln only stops direct damage, it does nothing against cc.
You need stability to stop the rest of that, but thanks for contributing…….

… what?! Invoulnerability stops all direct cc (ie knockbacks, pulls, fear etc). You can look it up in the wiki if you want.

Engineer – Ability to talk to any kind of consoles/switches, which allow to unlock secret passages or spawn hidden treasures behind doors.

Great idea, except there is a high chance you’ll be dragged off to a mental hospital because you where seen yelling profanities at a switch and threatening to kill its entire family unless it allows you to finger it for shiny loot.

People have done the gift reward track in a few hours and even worst case scenario it’ll take maybe a week of barely playing WvW. Is that really so hard? How fast did you do world exploration to get the gift? An hour? Two? It got to be far less work than WvW to make WvW feel like an insurmountable obstacle, surely.
