wtf is a midline? I thought zerglets were all just front or back line.

It’s that line between the front and back where all the useless classes say they play in order to make them feel cooler than the backline but not as much rallybotting as the frontline.

(they certainly won’t be as strong as stationary cannons…)

You got an inside Anet source on that? Because Anets history of sensible siege damage… well, it doesnt exist. And they still havent done any changes to ACs.

If you want to get into the magical fantasy land of delusional things that will never be, the only way I can see deployable cannons working is if they work as actual cannons. Solid projectile that can damage walls but wont do crap in terms of AoE damage. It would however be a real projectile so it could plow through and damage a zerg silly enough to stack in a line. Fire control would be an aimed line downrange, not AoE on point. 1/3 control direction (ie like a cata but with shallower arc and faster projectile with tiny ball size AoE on impact)

Will we see that?

No.

We will more than likely see kittening OP cannons with wide and stupid AoE explosions.

Prove me wrong Anet.

Cannon blueprints would allow players to deploy cannons anywhere that deployable siege can be placed (trebuchets, arrow carts… etc.).

So no restrictions vs regular siege.

Feedback can easily change the rules. But first we have to test it. Same is valid for the mortar blueprint that will be the topic of the next poll.

Oh you mean like how constant feedback has successfully reduced AC damage again after Anet increased the damage by 100%?

Cause that worked out great.

Really great.

Just in case you are missing it, my sarcasm is as discrete as a rain of arrows on a 1s cooldown.

You have to be kidding. Did you ever play DaoC(or Everquest, LotRo, CoH, AoC, Aion, etc) in its original, exceptionally grindy form? And Mark Jacobs wants to make CU even more hardcore than that.

It took many months to get to the highest levels in those games, unless you could spend 8 hours+ a day in front of your monitor. GW2 to get to highest levels takes mere weeks, even for a casual player. And yea, it takes a lot longer to get legendaries, but they aren’t required to be successful in the game.

People who think that GW2 is grindy make me chuckle, as it is so easy compared to earlier mmorpgs. Have you ever played an mmorpg that had serious death penatlites, (where you lost gear, xp, etc.) only gave xp for very certain things, or required you to grind killing thousands of npcs for certain goals???

Think Korean mmorpgs. (they’re far worse than the original grindy mmorpgs were here in the states, but you get the jist….)

GW2 is a casual player’s paradise, imo. That is the main reason that attracted me and my wife to this game……we wanted to get away from the really nasty grinds….and this game has delivered that.

Maybe 10-15 years ago I would have accepted that kind of grindy mmorpg, as that is all there was, then. But, GW2 has proved that playing an mmorpg doesn’t have to feel like a job, as the earlier mmorpgs were. It can be just about fun, and playing the game on your own, casual schedule, and STILL making substantial progress in the game.

Indeed. The “hardcore” crowd seem to remember the past through rose tinted glasses. Just look at the new games. BDO has been bleeding players, unlike the first month where it was crowded every single day. When people still had hope they could compete. Now… the “hardcore” is all that’s left clinging to a dying game that literally no new players can get into. And BDO still had to change things to be more casual. They had to change the death penalties and they have boosted XP and ton and nerfed mobs so bosses are laughable now instead of insta-killing you.

People that want this kind of “hardcore”… Cripes, you can have it. I just want a fun and social game where I can fight a fantasy war every night if I want and still go “yeah that player is better than me, I could have killed him if I had more skill or maybe change a few skills and build” instead of thinking “yep I died now I lost 3 weeks of progress to a guy that I did 1% damage too because he had gear a tier higher than me that’s gonna take me 3 months to get”. Just… No.

There is a reason GW2 is still a thing.

ESO had potential to be great, but they blew it by not taking aspects from GW2. Commanders alone would have made it 10x better from the start.

What? They had squads from the start with leaders. It was always easy to find a squad and join. It took anet what 3 years to introduce sqauds. The problem with ESO was the lack of balance and an endgame grind that exacerbated that, both of why I understand they are improving on.

I said commanders not squads. Yeah ESO had squads. But nothing was visible on the map. I wont argue that squads isnt an excellent addition but WvW didnt even need squads, we did fine before them. Gathering on a tag is social and simple – the basic ideas for enjoying any MMO game.

How would you feel when you login in every day on EB, looking at the map… no markers. No blue commanders. None on the borders either. Because they dont exist. There could be a 20 man raid squad anywhere. No one except those in the raid would know. No guilds working together with pugs because no one know where they are. No guilds working together with other guilds. Not even scouts marking locations.

Now imagine the above on a kittening map 20x the size of a GW2 map.

Unfortunately nothing will change enough here by the time the successor to DAoC hits the market, and wvw is going to take a population hit.

This has been repeated every half year for the last 3 years now I think and we still havent seen anything even remotely close to a beta of CU meaning it’s at least another 1-2 year left… and I do think I said exactly that last year too. Or the year before that. Honestly, I cant remember anymore.

I do agree though that they dont advertise it nearly enough. The ingame ads for sPvP tournaments is a special thorn in our eyes. Why no call to arms when your server is loosing in WvW? Why not more 1 week of WvW event bonuses at least once a month to encourage a flow of new players to become interested? Anet totally dropped the ball on the simple things.

And the real question is why should you even care? Inventory become full every hour or so and you get a million billion essences from salvaging all the crap. Sure you wont go from 100 to 200% in a day, but you will get there sooner or later. Its inevitable.

Quickness and resistance were never supposed to have 100% uptime. I don’t know why this is so hard to understand. If you think they should have 100% uptime from a totally brainless build, then maybe ANet should just make Pain Absorption and FMW grant a minute worth of boons and get it over with.

But… Anet hasnt done jack kitten to fix it, so it must suppose to be like this?

Because the fix is simple. Protection is a shareable boon but does not stack. Resistance is not a shareable boon and does not stack. Quickness is not a shareable boon and does not stack. Bam done. This can be fixed in minutes because the game already has these states available in the boon rules.

But nope they done nothing.

Did GW2 fail in China?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Dawdler.8521

According to my simple:
by the game itself has 132 sets of clothing as a whole.
More than 1000 kinds of back, waist props of the skin
Each weapon has hundreds of skin, there are 12 kinds of weapons.
Game mall is about 132 sets of clothing as a whole.
Mount mainly stores to sell. Pet mainly games.

By comparison,
Guild wars 2, the new content in 4 years,
Mall: 32 + weapons, 35 + suit, 23 sets of gliding
The game itself: 19 sets of weapons, the legendary weapon 4, legendary back 2 pieces, pink 2 shoulders.6 armor skin.

“Jian Wang3” prop update speed is almost 5 to 10 times the GW2?Especially on the comparison of armor skin, “Jian Wang3” has 132 sets of the game can get skin (some only color difference), only six sets of guild wars 2.

Not quite sure what you mean with the GW2 comparison. You seem to be comparing The chinese game as a whole (unless google translate is fail, lol) compared to some GW2 updates. GW2 has 1500+ individual armor pieces and close to 2500 weapon skins, 37 outfits and 343 pets. That’s not exactly a small amount of content.

so, how long do we have to wait for this?

Swimsuits was probably a minor issue. I think it’s the races ingame that make it fail. Going by the standard asian MMO, this would have made GW2 far more successfull:
- First and foremost, make Charr into cats.
- Give Charr boobs and human faces.
- Give Humans Charr ears and tails
- Give Asurans Charr ears and tails.
- Make Norn 3ft tall and give them wings. Also give them Charr ears and tails.

Done deal. You’re welcome GW2 china.

Encouraging people not to play in order to win is incredibly stupid. In fact, its just as bad as nightcapping itself.

The easiest idea remain population scaling. As global population rises, PPT/PPD goes up and PPK goes down. As global population go down, PPT/PPD goes down and PPK goes up. Score swings maybe -+50% of baseline.

A good example last night… We were harassing the enemy at their bay. Two decent sized groups that fought a little bit on the field but they mostly only came out when it looked like half of us were gone. Most of the time they were inside. They had 2 shields outside in the field to protect their siege they absolutely needed against us I suppose. Balli, 2 cannons, mortars… It took me about 10 minutes to sneak and destroy their shield gens and 4 deaths but got it done. If they had these hammers then those gens probably would never have come down. Frankly I already don’t like this hammer idea at all after dealing with the so called ‘siege humpers’… :P

While I dislike the idea of hammers, your argument in the scenario presented is flawed. Hammers would literally make zero difference. You said that it took 4 deaths and 10m of sneaking to kill them both, which means that they could simply build 2 new gens while you where dead. With 1:1 repair the cost would just differ for a hammer vs a shield gen.

The issue with siegehumping and repairing only occur during constant weaker pressure from the outmanned when its still critical to bring down siege as fast as you can.

Although some of your ideas I really like myself, I believe the biggest thing ArenaNet can do to help roleplayers would be to include a way to select which shard you’re in, similar to districts like we saw in GW1.

This was suggested and argued in length when megaserver was implemented and kittened up PvE communities (and thus, roleplayers). GW2 isnt the first nor last game to use instances and many other MMOs allow you too choose a specific one. A selectbox above the minimap with an expanded list of active instances and their average population would have been enough.

Anet didnt listen at all.

They wont do it now either.

So its best to forget about it.

Some people may say lolwtfyouon but keeping up the momentum of WvW is what keeps it fun and entertaining with a steady stream of players. When this slows down too much – be it from fortified keeps, siege humping 10 ACs or having a huge map layed out like a kittening maze – WvW activities grind to a halt. It runs out of steam.

We need that that rapid pace to encourage aggressive attacks. Maintaining PPT for the server is all the reward we need for defending (and we still get lots of contribution for it, since defending often involves killing attackers).

You have clearly defined reservations yet you vote yes anyway… Thats exactly how the border vote nearly ended in disaster for the community.

But I digress. Without knowing the actual implementation, this only empowers zergs siege humping. Sometimes bring down siege just in the nick of time is critical. I dont want to see 50 people standing there constantly repairing it despite it being hit with 20 ballista bolts. We dont even know if its gonna be 1:1 drain which would be bad. I would also consider say a 3:1 drain being acceptable (ie if a ram cost 50 to build, it cost 150 to repair 0-100) but kitten if I’m going to vote yes on wishfull thinking.

Revs are good for squads and zergs, but not in groups of <= 3.

Actually, someone on TC roams with a rev and destroys other roamers all the time.

There is a power herald on the server I currently meet (incidently EU #1) that also absolutely destroys roamers.

No really, I have a p/p condi scrapper that brush off thieves with ease and can go 1v2 against most. I can even duel warriors with their 1 million hp/s regen and still manage to win. Revs and heralds are normally just a minor speedbump that fall easily. But that herald… He slapped me around like a baby and killed me without any effort. I didnt even do any damage because I couldnt. Daredevil stompers break like twigs in comparison.

I wish I could play a kitten herald that good because it would probably replace my scrapper as a roamer. Unfortunetly I cant, lol. I’m not friends with meleeing.

I think that up to a party size (5) still acceptable as roaming. That’s my opinion tho.

IMO there are 3 distinct types of roaming:
- Solo roaming, you are usually alone and built to kill.
- Duo roaming, a tight 2 man group playing on their characters strength together.
- Party roaming, 3-5 man parties that play like a small commando unit. Dont confuse this with a zerg focus party though as that will often sacrifice sustain for just damage.

Anything organized above that and you pretty much enter small guild raid territory where individual 1v1 skill start to take a backseat to AoE outbombing the enemy (mostly those groups will encounter larger groups anyway).

The lions have 2 lives that can not be infinitely refreshed after a 5-10 second pause. So hypothetically, or in layman’s terms, you got 30 vs 60 where the 60 have instant infinite respawn…..

GW2 walls is no more “defense” than barbed wire fence. Standing on a wall and firing on people below as opposed to standing on the ground and firing on people above is the exact same thing. The wall itself is only there to delay people. You want actual defense? Players and siege. Hopefully more players than siege, but that depends on the servers you meet.

I dont understand. This is already in play. In fact, it’s even more than that. Afaik lords still scale to all the players within the outer walls, but it was a while since I zerged. Players raise the difficulty simply by being there. You have been able to see when an enemy zerg has come to defend simply by looking at the lords average HP drop (when it feels like you’re suddenly not doing any damage… you can be sure a zerg just arrived).

I always love it when commanders go “you 5 people, go kill the lord, we hold the enemy off in the meantime” when it’s a 3 way in garrison with the lord scaled to 150 people.

Dire/Trailblazer Stats in wvw needs nerf

in WvW

Posted by: Dawdler.8521

Dawdler.8521

Another issue is condition damage and expertise don’t mirror the power ferocity relationship that power builds have. Power based builds are reliant on getting their gains from ferocity from crit chance.

That’s not an issue.

It’s really just an arms race that has gone to extremes since HoT specs and gear stats came out. Yes, condis are trying to dominate roaming because power dominate zerging. Almost every elite spec is power heavy and where it is condi… they’ve often gone power instead anyway. Mesmer is pretty much the only exception. Daredevil, herald, scrapper, dragonhunter, berserker, druid, tempest, reaper they are mostly going insanely survivable power builds because of HoT. This pretty much lead to condis going all out to match it. Which the new condi gear happily encourage. That make them very noticable on the battlefield (oh look, I’m only ticking 4000 damage a second on confusion, how cute).

We aint ever gonna see balance in this. You can delete dire and trailblazer if you want. It wont change anything. The only way condi will be downgraded to “more or less supportive extra damage” that adds upon base power damage is if the entire gear, sigil, rune and trait system change. Good luck with that.

Guild Halls are far too big. You have an area almost as big as Auric Basin and there is almost nothing in it. Yes, we also need crafting stations, maybe a mystic forge, mini games and other stuff like that. But we just plain need a more sensibly sized space.

… sort of like the multi-story guild HQ in LA, lol.

The guild halls themselves are so utterly pointless. Everything could have been done in the HQ with much, much less design effort from Anet. It even looks like an actual guild hall. The “guild halls” now is like reject unfinished HoT PvE maps they just slapped some waypoints on and went “hey, look at this, its guild halls!”.

But I digress. If they can get some kitten crafting stations in there they are usable enough.

Matchup system is a joke

Anet, please remove the outnumbered buff for Ring of Fire and Whiteside Ridge.

That’ll stop them complaining.
