I´m asking to put those features back on my account and server. I know it can be done.

Except that it cant be done.

But I am sure that the devs can compromise and change things specifically for your account, such as:
- No access to Lions Arch for any of your characters.
- No access to ferocity for any of your characters (no such gear can be equipped).
- No transmutation for any of your characters.
- Always put your character on a separate instance where no one else has access.

There you go, all your problems solved!

Basically it would work like this. Everyone is wiped clean and Randomly matched up in to the 4 current tiers. We would still have 3 servers (with names) but for this purpose lets just say A,B,C. Every three weeks there would be change whoever wins the best of three matches is server A, and moves up. Whoever gets second place is server B, stays the same tier. Whoever loses best of three moves down. If there is a tie between server B and C or A, B, C then it would be based off kills. I think it would promote serious competition every single week. New servers every 3 weeks. No massive gaps in glicko with stale match ups.

New servers except in T1 where the same two servers will always be top and T4 where two servers will always be rock bottom.

Best Roaming / Small Group Class?

I would place Scrapper with those three, but you don’t have as many tools to deal with those difficult situations, once you’re stuck in fights without stealth, you’ll have to fight or die in most situations.

Lolwat? Scrapper has the best small scale utility in the stomp gyro. Out of your three classes, the druid is useless small scale (and what I would target first when fighting a group of those three). Tanky as kitten but with little damage or damage and glassy is the two common variants.

Edit: Before anyone freaks out, I am not suggesting this happens, I’m not suggesting this is a good idea, I’m only pointing out that this is the only true way to not only stop bandwagoning but also fix the damage done.

Good, because its not a good idea, its most definetly not the “only true way” to stop bandwagoning and it would cause great harm to current communities.

The only solution (abet a very unpopular one) is to put everyone servers into a pool and Anet allocates to the severs factions. No transfers allowed. Then, every few months, everyone servers goes back into the pool and gets re-allocated to smooth out the populations factions.

Fixed, while maintaining server communities. The size of the server become irrelevant.

The entire idea of punishing people into submission with money/gems is flawed. Thats not how you retain a population. Thats not how you get a happy community.

Anet already have the solution – server links. Slap together multiple groups for 3 faction warfare without being crippled by glicko rankings.

Once we unhook servers from tiered matchmaking, server bandwagoning is solved by design instead of the spiked whip.

Encouraging people to stick with their servers by giving loyalty bonuses the longer you are on that server wouldnt hurt either.

Yes my Thief is really struggling in WvW now. My Unloads only do 12-13K each against other squishes. My AoE damage with an evade skill, Vault, only seems to do 14K damage. My dagger auto-attack chain only does 7K damage in around 1.5 seconds. My unblockable distance closer, Shadow Shot, does just 6K per use. It’s a good thing that I can’t use these skills more than once in quick succession!

Also my dodge rolls seem to do just 5K AoE and my Impairing Daggers with Mug combo only seems to do 8K damage as an opener – it’s horrible. Also, my Basilisk that I was already using also happens to be applied to people around me with absolutely no investment. I can also chain multiple dodge sources with a bit of stealth to exit almost any encounter. It’s absolutely miserable and impossible to play!

This sarcasm is killing me, stop!

This idea would be as simple as: 3 host worlds, every other world linked to one of those 3. or 6 hosts with regional divide..

And thats why I dislike complicated 3 page suggestions.

Yes, it really is that simple. With this in place, we could can easily do perpetual WvW seasons: servers rise in ranks/tiers within their faction, get some rewards after 3 months and then the factions reshuffle and the fight begins again.

Players wouldnt game such a system at all to make servers go where they want to by transfering on purpose, oh no…

I dont think Glicko should be used to determine matchups but at least it offer some slack and reaction times when it comes to population shifts. One up one down would literally be weekly transfer heaven.

People need to be really quiet about that or Anet will get ideas.

Anet has put themselves in this corner by making concentration gear and the desire to keep revs OP so people buy HoT.

Simple solutions though -

1) Designate more boons as non-stack non-boons. Quickness and resistance for example would work like superspeed. It wont stack and you cant boonshare it.

2) Cap boon duration at 50%.

Done deal. Anet get to keep their super OP rev skills but people will no longer be able to stack to extremes.

While they are at it they could also cap ferocity at 50%, cut power/prec by 25%, condi dmg by 33% and cap condi duration at 50% on all gearsets while adding these stats to vitality. But hey let not get ahead of ourselves.

Remember GvG guilds which were the reason why we have Arenas in Guild Halls? Just that no one uses them – kind of sad, isn’kitten If you think some more about it: HoT destroyed GW2 – because everything that came with HoT just killed the game. In my opinion it really is the (lack of) balance that causes all the problems we have now. Back in the day open PvE was actually challenging, but we need all kinds of powercreep now so people can live through the HoT maps (nonsense, you can well do without) – which is destroying the rest of the game, but who cares, right?

You didnt think hard enough. The powercreep began long before HoT when the entire stat system changed from part build based to entirerly gear based, especially ferocity. This allowed classes to go to extremes with no sacrifices.

With sPvP changes Anet has also made it very clear that you are not allowed to be tanky/healer, you are supposed to build for damage.

This age old problem of dps warriors still being tanky has nothing do with durability runes really. It’s the healing signet in combination with passive traits. It’s always been that.

Fun fact that I have noticed even commanders dont know – shieldgen not only block projectiles, they make you specifically immune to AC fire. Though I havent tested if the buff extends to other siege.

Also, are US server a match for Rivercart? Record I think I have seen was 9 ACs in T1 SE tower on their border.

The nerf to Wash the Pain Away was done because it over-performed in the frontline meta in wvw.

Not that much of a nerf since they also reduced the cd and boosted gains from healing power. Cleric frontline ftw (funny considering the removal of cleric in PvP).

Same strangers that can easily be Vabbi because the game makes no difference.

But still, this is exactly what we told Anet would happen before the links was even activated. Smaller linked servers would loose themselves among the larger servers when there isnt any defining feature that set them apart. The idea of an entire small server as “roaming mercenaries” is fine if they have that identity visible ingame. But without it… You may as well merge with the larger server.

Yet another change that make you wonder wtf is going on Anets minds.

Did condi need to damage siege? No. They made a choice to run cancer. The reliance on power enabled tanks and support builds to still feel usefull against siege.

Now Anet is basicly telling us go crit dps or go home.

And one of the most common complaints is power creep because certain classes can build for insane damage, lol. Anet must live in another world.

The simple answer to the having the swords making it “harder” to cap is subtract 2s per tier on the warning. the current timer is what, 30s? T3 get 24s as a upgrade boon. Simple. Take an existing system and tweak it a little. Not enough? Tweak it some more if required. Removing the delay completely because reasons is as logical as removing the contested waypoint gap because reason.

Downed state is a critical functionality in WvW small and medium scale combat, removing it would kill all the fun in the game and ruin tactical group combat.

If things with the population stay as they are right now, the game mode will just die out faster.

Which is what people said before the links. 3 years ago. And 2 years ago. And 1 year ago. And… well we all get it.

But granted, the links hasnt really helped things. I dont think the idea is wrong, but IMO the implementation, speed of which the links change and transfers make it moot.

We still need a way to differentiate people from different links (and encourage them by giving them an identity with capped objectives by them). Links should shift considerably faster and transfers from low tier link servers to high tier link servers need to be discouraged.

The main problem remain the way matchups work. Anet can link servers now and should expand on that. If they can get proper identity working, we can remove tiers alltogether and rank servers per colored faction. IE we would see 3-4 matchups of 3 fixed factions (no more color changes) between population matched servers (some randomness will occur).

No more “oh we are rank 18 and never getting out of this glicko hell hole” bullkitten. No more tiers. Server glicko points would determine per faction ranks, not the matchups the server end up in.

It would solve server transfers by design. But it would also mean less money to Anet, so nvm scratch this completely.

In EU its usually around 18 in the evening, which is midday east coast. I’m guessing that is in the morning west coast time? Makes sense if they want to do hotfixes during the day.

When DBL keeps where defended they where nearly impossible to breach due to insane amounts of siege at the few viable attack positions for anything other than a 50 man group.

+25%/perma 33% only proliferate the ranged evasive build meta in the only gameplay mode that has large enough fields for it to actually have a major impact, WvW.

I would much rather see it removed and replaced with short swiftness bursts only available to melee builds.

But hey I’m just wierd that way.

1 hour would be too short. 4 seems a bit excessive judging by observations of the last hour. 2 hours, eh, I don’t think that’s long enough. 3 hours I’m feeling would be the sweet spot.

Thats what you feel because of 4 hour matches.

You do realize WvW is exactly the same right? Come thursday and top server is ahead 100K points, no one gonna play seriously anymore.

Not to mention sPvP. Good luck getting your team to fight if the score is 400-20.

The hours is irrelevant. The moment people realize its futile a majority will stop fighting. You can neither cut or add hours to make the last 30% of a match exiting when its unbalanced and possibly lost already.

And yes, 3 hours is still way too long for a normal gaming sitting if we assume same people from start to finish. People will start to drop off after an hour. Keep in mind that we also have to count partial matches. So if you join at say the 2 hour mark of a 3 hour match thats lost, sure you may go “well I lazily play until the next exiting match!”. After 2h of gaming, you’d still have 2h left in the 3h match. GG having the interest to keep fighting. Yeah I know some can play 6h straight easy, but lets count mostly normal people. There is a reason why medium scale round games (think BF) set ~30m matches.

Changing the design of the tag and more color options has been brought up many times before. There was this excellent image created by someone that I cant remember. It wasnt guild emblems though, it was just various different designs.

Not sure guild emblems would scale down well enough for the minimap, the resolution is probably too high. So unfortunetly I dont think it would work.

Alternatively, if you take away more of the defensive tools, no one would want to bother defending an objective and would just go do something else, like hit an empty keep on the other side of the map, so more PvD and less PvP if that were the case.

No one bothering to defend logic would mean that all 3 sides and all their zergs are in on the idea and that no one want to fight.

So what exactly are you arguing? Everyone would do what they want. Everyone would be happy with that.

It takes just one group on one side that will go where the enemy players is to make the argument irrelevant. Especially if they dont bother defending. So much more time to find and engage the enemy open field. If they happen to be inside one of your objectives, well thats an unfortunate sideeffect.

With 3 factions on static maps you would just move the problem onto EoTM design.

You wont fix crap.

We need dynamic maps in order to adjust for a 24/7 varying population. Sure it could be a hybrid (WvW+EoTM == Multiple EBs + instanced borders) but it cant be all static because you’d have the same unbalanced population issue once the population drop so low that dedicated night cappers can roam maps with ease.

Otherwise, I think 3 factions could be just fine if Anet organized them as actual guilds. Think about it. Something like this: “The Pact” (faction of guilds) -> “Desolation” (one of 6 main guilds in this faction) -> “NoobsRUs [N00b]” (player created sub-guild). In terms of visual identification ingame, you will be seen with [N00b] tag, belong to Desolation but fight for The Pact (ie green, blue or red). Your score would be counted against both the faction and the main guild you belong too, which create a ranking of main guilds within the faction. So TL;DR we would be fighting to be the top main guild within our faction, just for the glory rather than it being part of a matchup.

But it’s just a dream. And I do think Anet gave up any idea of major design changes of WvW long ago. But hey, we’ll get cannons. Huzzah!!!

Roaming in higher tiers worth it?

In my experience the higher up you go the worse it becomes. In kitten one see 10 man “roaming” parties running around capping camps. The amount of havok guilds also increases (well, naturally) which make solo/duo roaming considerably harder because you simply cant be effective. And not to mention the amount of meta cheese exploit builds exponentially increase (when you do meet solo roamers they are likely to be perplexity mesmers).

But hey if you simply want activity, move on up.

That build sucks.

About half the people I’ve talked to about it swear by it. The other half says the same as you. Half the people run staff. The other half run dagger/focus or dagger/warhorn.

When its like that its usually a skill issue just saying.

There is a distinct split between people saying power is life and those saying support classes are usefull. The former basicly acknowledge no other stats than damage.

Personally I run a full cleric tempest and its a complete beast when it comes to keeping a zerg supplied with HP.

There are 4 WvW zones in the game. Go to another. Its really as simple as that if someone is intentionally trying to grief you.
