We previously voted on what map rotation we’d want and most of us said 2 Alpine 1 Desert. What’s wrong with that concept? Everyone wins.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with it. But Anet said nope, 70% is not a sufficient majority. The 30% wins by default ruling.

Either way, this poll is pretty much done for already. With the current trend there is absolutely no way for the removal of desert to reach the required 75%. Hence, we gonna get it. I dread the next poll on its implementation as the oucome will be decided by what Anets decide is the default ruling and how many options are available. If its 3 months of only desert again… GG community. GG.

sPvP is 5v5 on tiny instances with about 10 NPCs at most.

WvW is ~90v90v90 on big maps with probably 70+ NPCs.

If the sPvP servers are in the US, the answer is yes. The difference between sPvP and WvW in terms of network load should however be quite obvious…

True, but when was the last time in sPvP you saw all your skills blinking and players rubberbanding just because there was a 50v50v50 in garrison? Oh that’s right. Never. Because sPvP doesnt even have close to the load of WvW. Lag already exist in WvW, we dont need another 300ms response times artifically added because of some notion that the regions suddenly need to fight each other, when we’ve been split EU and US for 4 years in order to optimize the experience for everyone.

Ideas about stopping WvW Spies?

You cant “stop” them any more than you can stop real spies. If someone truly want to get into what in GW2 is a wide open organisation, they will. A real spy would have an account on your server and for all intents and purposes be a normal player.

Anet could do some simple things to avoid it being too annoying, like having default guild only tactivation but that’s just not going to happen.

Until we have the vote deciding how a possible implementation look like – since the vote where 70% in favor of mixed borders was disapproved by Anet – I stick by my statement:

I will vote for the border to be removed period, anything else is too risky for the overall wellbeing of the community.

Imagine if we have this vote, decide to keep desert. And then they make another kittened beyond belief poll with confused wording and the majority of the community once again get steamrolled by the minority on a default ruling? No. Just no.

3 of my people got to transfer and the rest cant which sucks because the commander is not with the larger group, we are at risk of losing members

Which is exactly what some of us totally expected would happen with the new links. From the very start of a new link you are forced to farm enough gold for the next inevitable transfer in order to keep playing with your new friends. Or of course throw your money at Anet, which they will be more than happy to accept. We still wont see the full effect until after a relink but I can imagine a fair bit angry people will post on the forums…

Unless Anet change the way server transfers work/cost, that will remain my belief and it is the reason they didnt merge servers. Constant transfering income by breaking up guilds after reshuffling servers is simply better for them.

Every condition he applied from stealth and MORE can be applied without stealth and every Immobilize the thief has while stealthed and MORE can be applied without using stealth. If you die in 3 seconds to a Gost theif with its limited Condition access, how well do you fare against a real condition build that can lay down far more condition damage in the same period of time?

Probably really bad in most cases, but it doesnt change the fact that I would be able to engage said condition build and probably damage him real bad in return (especially if he also sacrifices sustain for damage) because I can see him and I can damage him and I can counter attacks by dodging, blocking, reflecting, etc. Even the nastiest of condi builds in perplexity mesmers doesnt even come close, you can still try to target them between stealth and anticipate/counter bursts.

A ghost thief is never seen, cannot be damaged unless by pure luck of you anticipating you will be attacked by one while randomly running and having AoE down already and you cannot counter any trap attack other than condi cleanse after the fact.

I dont mind thieves in general. Not even bouncing practicly unhittable daredevils, because I can still fight them.

This just isnt defensible no matter how much you argue or twist it. Permastealth is stupid, it’s always been stupid since GW2 release and when you combine it with traps that doesnt reveal and still deal huge amounts of condi damage it’s the epitome of stupid.

Avg pings are normally around 140ms.

Please don’t sprout “facts” out of kitten.

That’s ping straight to server you know. Information have to go out to other players too that have high ping, effectivly doubling it for EU peeps fighting EU peeps on US servers.

ITT: Bad player complains about build he either can’t counter or lacks the ability to.

Besides the obvious engi/rev counters etc. This build is really, really bad. It has like two traps that can do really anything and then a CC trap.

You can literally walk away from this build with nearly any escape. It doesn’t need a nerf.

You have never met one worth kitten then.

A trapper thief will permaimmobilize you and down you in about 3s and he will never be seen once or have anything show in your combat log. Best case scenario, he pop up 10s later to put a treb on you because he’s so 1337. GG if you meet two or more of them working together.

There is no counter. Even reveal is has a tiny range, by the time you enter the invisible traps the thief will be far away and only return in a second if you actually die.

Good. That make people want to defend camps more instead of letting them go because they just recap before tick, increasing small scale action as you have to spread out more. If we get tiered points the camps should be worth even more.

This would be about entire servers having 300-500ms ping 24/7.

You know what killed ESO AvA at launch and ruined any chances to compete with GW2? EU being forced to play on US servers (Zeni even lied at first, saying it was an EU datacenter until players proved it was in the US). Well, that and vampires. But mostly the lag.

I really like this change. Will be interesting to see how/if it changes wvw tactics.

Well I doubt it changes much since it’s literally a third the points at 3x the speed, but it does make havoc teams stronger. This evening I noticed it was much easier to try to defend objectives for the tick simply because the tick was just around the corner. It felt like it was much more worth it to try, instead of going yeah it’s 10 minutes to next tick, meh we come back and cap it again before that. I honestly cant see any flaws in this faster tick.

There are no decent drivers on Engi above a K-Train that fights doors all day. If you are PvD-ing then go ahead and play a bear/bow ranger.

Seriously guys, stop giving bad advice to a new commander because you have some cheese build that works for you. He is new and asking for help and you are setting him up for failure.

I would strongly suggest medic gyro. You pulse a water field around you with the toolbelt that will ultimately give more healing especially if you use a leap finisher especially when you factor you’re doing group healing. The actual medic gyro sorta sucks, but it’s also an instant cast heal and you can just let it blow up for a daze.

Yeah that instant cast is a life saver.

Anyway, scrapper can be fun in the frontline and its capable enough of commanding IMO. It doesnt have quite all the meta tools of a guardian, but it has a few other things here and there. The only thing I feel is a missed opportunity is that hammer 3 isnt a faster leap.

Had a rather amusing situation yesterday when our frontline of around 10 peeps I think it was (7 or so guards, including the commander) had to push out south bay against 40 or so enemies while the backline fired from the walls. I tried to be on the commander like glue and after 3 quick pushes we where down to 2 peeps – the guardian commander and me on a cleric scrapper, lol (yeah you read that right, kittening cleric with kittening water runes). We did push again, 2v35ish now because kitten it. And both survived because finally another guild came and flanked them, haha.

I think some of the guild missions should have the limit removed, but not all. Getting 3 peeps for most of them are easy peasy. Escorting dollys however is annoying as kitten, because in reality you need like 15 people, not 3.

Sentries and dollys should just require them to be escorted/killed by 1 person to count but it need to be minimum 3 different persons for the duration of the mission.

What is your expectations for WvW guilds?

If you have an Nvidia card, I highly recommend trying the built in Shadowplay recorder. Use a ramdisk as temporary storage (assuming you have 16-32gb ram) and you can easily record the past 5-10 minutes in HQ with a button click.

If you have AMD, I think there is something similar but I am not familiar with that.

I would hope not, since the Charr siege motorcycle is already in the game as a WvW tactics.

First, remove the server references from WvW. Draw upon history to utilize guild alliances. About a month before the beginning of a cycle (we’ll arbitrarily say three months), each guild leader declares allegiance, for their entire guild, to an alliance.
An alliance having numbers roughly equal to the average of the current linked server setup. So an alliance could be made up of a few very large guilds or many smaller ones, or any other combination, thereof.

Impossible.

Guilds are an integral part of the game that are cross-server and you are able to join 5 at a time, which enable things like community guilds in WvW.

Your change would remove that completely because its incompatible with current GW2 guild implementation. Change that and it impacts everything, not just a “simple” WvW alliance mechanic.

If these alliances are supposed to work with that guild setup, its so ripe for abuse its not even funny. Just band together and have a 500 man dummy guild sign up on the enemy side and enjoy the easy matchup while the enemy wonder why they never see that guild, lol.

10 skills on weaponswap is perfectly fine on average. Most are tuned for cooldowns ~10-20s which match a swap. Only a certain newer class kitten that up, plus thieves of courses.

For ele and engineer, you can go to overkill at 20 and 30 different skills respectivly and yes, you do end up in a situation where you will focus on certain of them rather than all. That’s why people trait attunements or arent so stupid they walk around with 5 kits.

Which i don’t go to, since noone deserves my vote.

Even checking (or writing in) “None of the Above” is better than not voting. If that is your vote than vote it that way whether here or in any other election if that is how you feel.

Not in Anets world since they dont count them lol.

Anyway, the latest poll was fine. It was a compromise that wont please everyone, but the votes where literally split in half.

The vote before that however… well we all know how that went. Had they repeated it on this one (say, 70% voted one months but hey lets do three months instead!) I would have lost all faith in Anet too, but they didnt. It’s something.

I doubt it. Anet will probably they do it to prevent rigged matches (ie guilds transfering on purpose) but in reality not telling anyone who links with who will give them a major gemstore boost because WvW players will be suckered into scrambling to another server, as usual.

Also, as mentioned swap Elixir U for Elixir Gun (3 elixir skills vs 2, still has a stun break, extra condi cleansing, and shorter cooldowns).

Does Fumigate remove conditions on myself as well or just allies?

Also, why would I swap Elixir U out? I don’t take Elixir U for the stun break, I take it for the projectile wall from Toss Elixir U and the 8.5s Quickness. If I was gonna change an elixir, I’d rather change Elixir C.

Edit: Just tested Fumigate and it doesn’t remove condition on myself. So I don’t see why I should use the Elixir Gun :/

Often used for super elixir alone. Acid bomb is great for giving the slip on reapers. If you combine short cooldown evasive skills with cc (acid bomb + blast gyro) you can get several seconds of them being flat on their kitten or them being at range, which is essential when using condi/hybrid builds against them.

Hypothetically, if 1 month is 34%, 4 month is 33%, and 6 month is 33% then would it make sense to choose 1 month? Two thirds of the population preferred at least 4 months would be the counter.

An accumulated average of all votes is the logical choice.

Hypothetically that’s impossible. 4 months currently have 4.8% (less than undecided votes at 7%) and 6 months have 10.9%.

The match is between monthly at 35.8% and quarterly at 26.5%. And it’s hardly surprising to be honest. Even one month is a long kitten time in WvW when you are matched against the same servers.

I remain more interested in what plans there are to separate the two servers that are being paired because it’s still gonna be kitten if it happens monthly with diffuse sides. Hell I could even imagine it happening weekly if all 6 servers (assuming all pairs) where perfectly defined in a matchup.

Assuming fairly equal skill levels, a condi anything wont beat a necro. The only way a condi engie gonna win is by pure luck of dodging those signets and marks. You can defeat them by going slow and wearing them down until you go for the kill but that pretty much assume they let you do that. Most wont. Reapers will be nasty in melee and necros even nastier at max range while you only thrive at medium distance.

75% of Anet devs probably had to agree to use it, but only 74% agreed so it was a stalemate.

I’m curious what purpose they serve on ABL that they don’t on DBL, because I didn’t notice much of a difference so far.

If you cant tell the difference then you fail to see one the most important reasons WvW works as a gamemode, if not the most. WvW at its core isnt fighting – thats just a sideeffect of capturing objectives. But in order to feed this desire to capture objectives, keeping the gears of war turning – and thus get fights – they need to be under constant threat.

EB design do that to near perfection with towers very close to keeps.
Alpine design do that about as good with towers a bit further away.
Desert design dont do that at all with towers far beyond treb range.

And that is why it fails at WvW no matter what else is changed. Yes, the improvement did alot to make it more enjoyable, but its still broken.

On Desert, we basicly have 3 keeps that are perfectly safe on their own when held. You can ignore the towers. You dont need them. They dont matter. For home, the northern towers are the worst offenders because they are totally useless as scouting positions or borderland defense. This makes it boring because those gears of war I talked about… they never start turning. Everything grinds to a halt on Desert. Small scale, large scale, it doesnt matter, the effect is the same.

The way the cannon worked sort of made up for this but the thought was silly. Gather stuff to win only favor two sides – the one with a full zoneblob or the ones that dont have any enemies. Not to mention it was stupid kittened that it fired at all enemy gates. Had it just been against say garri it would have made some sense.

A simple way for Anet to “fix” this would be to add a player controlled supertreb/cannon/mortar in every tower and keep as a special map mechanic. It should reach outer of the closest keep/tower (for north towers, both keeps). But its not gonna happen. Still gonna vote a resounding NO if the option to delete it comes. Cant risk anything else after the resounding failure of the poll where people couldnt compromise.

I dont find any of the options interesting because in my mind any quicker linking absolutely require a change in server identites to show players on both pairs ingame. We cannot have a monthly change that rip apart a diffuse and mixed server blob. We would get bursts of toxic and confused players every month. It would be incredibly unfriendly to new WvW players, which would be bad because we need everyone. If pairs are kept distinct and separate so everyone knows where they stand it will however be OK.

With scrapper they make a decent frontliner. The rest is just as bad for large scale as it has been for 4 years.

As a havoc flanker against enemy zergs, I find it excellent if not one of the best classes. Sure a thief will singletarget alot harder, but they are complete glass compared to a engie that can accidentally kill thieves. You only want a few of them. With the sneak gyro you can intentionally confuse enemies by “showing” the gyro and expected solo engie yet hiding a small group. 2 engies is enough for permastealth.

And before you complain about how kittenty gyros are at following so this cant be done… zigzag

If they opened up the primary servers, its a prelude to relinking for sure. Want to get with a randomized server? Stay where you are. Want to join the server you are already playing as? First come first serve!

People that miss it and get relinked against their will are gonna be kittened, lol.

I don’t even think it’s 80. A 40 person zerg floating can easily get a mostly empty map queued up; based on the map blobs I’ve seen, it’s likely in that 60-70 range.

Hahaha no. I have seen 50 man zoneblobs that still manage to have 2 15-20 man guilds next to them. I have seen a confirmed 75 man zerg on a map with roamers already there (commander did /supplyinfo on EB zerg arrival). I think its about 85-90.

Its really only OP because the way condis are applied for certain classes, making some of them insanely unbalanced at high condi numbers. That is whats not balanced. Not condi dmg itself.

Your argument is flawed because activity brings the players. This is completely dynamic and can change in minutes.

If you want that to work, you only need to scale PPT on total population, not lock maps behind a limit.

The 2 alpine 1 DBL option still would lose players though due to the imbalance it creates between the teams. For players who actually try to play all maps and try to defend and attack all objectives as part of their game play they are basically getting a broken game mode all of the time. For those who hop between all the maps defending and attacking this was how this was viewed:

1)Mixed BLs= Broken game mode all of the time.
2) Rotation= Playable game mode part of the time
3)No DBL= playable game mode all of the time.

For players who just played on one map doing whatever the mixed BLS were fine, but for those who play the whole game ( all maps) being their battlefield and they actually care about the score and balance, adding the DBL added an element to the game mode that made the game mode unplayable because of how many players were unwilling to go there at all making it so whoever had the most players on their server even willing to go to the DBL would win by default.

Players seem to think that having a mixed BL meant people could just play where they want and how they want. That works for only players who do not hop to all maps and defend an attack all objectives and care about the score and balance. For those players, the game mode is unplayable/ broken with mixed BLs and you are then giving them a broken game mode all of the time with mixed BLs rather than having the option of ever having a playable game mode at all.

And what is the reality today?

Exactly the same.

I jump onto an enemy border. No one there. Not even outmanned. They hold most things. I ask for help from the community guild to build some siege for a single T0 tower. Nope, 95% or so of the border population is on home zerging a tag and the rest is on EB. No one comes. Looks at home. Almost painted fully in our color.

Had it been desert, it would have made zero difference.

So I fail to see the point. As I said in another thread, people are overthinking it. People are unwilling to go to alpine bls already, unless one of their favorite pug commanders decide to raid there.

I’ve also got no idea if that PSU is any good, so just make sure it’s a quality unit. A PSU is the last thing you want tk skimp on, since a bad one can blow up your whole PC

It most definetly isnt quality (the 80+ bronze and rebrand name sort of gives it away) but I did some reading at it seems like an ok-ish unit, at least not complete China kitten. If you notice the motherboard base, its a budget build to begin with.

Indeed. If a vote comes up to scrap it, I’ll vote yes in a heartbeat. I dont care how much work devs put into it or if it can be further “fixed”, the threat of 3 long months of the community being torn apart is simply too great, no more compromise.

You keep complaining about diversity yet you dont want to use actual diversity, neither in terms of your own build or by using teamwork and weighing up your class/build shortcomings. Yes, I play an engineer. It has a wide array of tools to perform tasks such as stomping under pressure. I even play a hybrid build to give me a better range of targets I can reliably engage, instead of being the best at specific types. That is what I call diversity.

Nope. 2 players smart enough to power rez (especially if they can both provide stealth) are pretty kitten ed hard to kill. 1 person can rez faster than you can stomp. I could be boring and run a condi build like 90% of roamers so that they will have poison on them and continue to take damage even when stealthed, but why stifle build diversity for the sake of a stupid mini game?

Well if you say you wouldnt have won that fight 2v3 or 1v2 either then there is no kittening chance you could have won 1v3 regardless of rally mechanics.

I also find it amusing you complain about it when you dont even want to bring the tools to deal with it because “diversity”, which yes happen to be things like poison and condi damage to suppress the enemy heals. Talk about trying to fix a problem you create yourself. Diversity in this case would have been to literally have a condi roamer next to you – you deal power damage to pummel 3 players, he deal condi damage and the tools to actually stomp them. That’s called teamwork.

Mixed Borderlands - How PPT works?

I’m really afraid of such mixed borderlands, because i like to play on both maps (especially DBL after improving) – but as rotation.
It might happen that mixed borderlands end up ABL is full and DBL is empty. DBL will the “Free PPT” map while the most of player joins ABL.

A-Net have to rework the DBL abit more, then it’s fine. It’s better than mixed things where you’ve to balance the PPT dramatically.

How is this in any way different from now?

I often see fights focused on 2 borders while another is constantly outmanned due to low coverage. Heaven forbid there is also a blue borderhop commander – then on those 2 borders 90% of the population will be focused around that commander and the one border he is on.

People are seriously overthinking mixed borderlands. The community will balance themselves – if one side get’s too much “free PPT” just like they can get from an alpine border today, then go there and harass them. Dont want to because it’s an icky desert border? Well then they get free PPT and your server loose potential points you could get for little to no effort.

It’s as kittening simple as that.

That’s the problem with this, we already are winning the outmanned fight. I had a 1v3 last night where I downed my opponents multiple times but they kept stealth rezzing over and over again preventing me from stomping. I eventually had to bail because more people showed up.

They either need to change it so rezzing is much slower, or if you go back down within 1-2 minutes of being downed you insta die.

Flawed argument in the same line of Anet’s latest poll. Just because you had an expected outcome to win a 1v3 doesnt mean that’s the only correct outcome – which their ability to res their teammates under obvious pressure from just one single peep proved. If you couldnt stomp them you werent winning. Hence, you lost. End of story.

So in your opinion a flawed game mechanic carrying 3 players that couldn’t down me once equals them winning?
Makes sense…… Heaven forbid they make any changes to the game so that skill>numbers. Your attitude is the reason they keep pandering to the crappy players with changes like the recent hardened gates fiasco.

I understand that laptops often get used as music players and everyone and their dog get’s access to them.

Dogs cant stop themselves from looking extremely guilty when they have done something.

I would sooner look to the cat, especially if it’s just nonchalantly walking around.
