And i doubt that Anet copyrighted Brahams appearance.

You own the copyright to any work you create, regardless of whether you officially register your copyright or not.

Are you sure about that? Seems strange to me. Not to mention almost impossible to prove you are the first to create something and are therefore the ‘owner’.

Probably true, but in this case it would be like saying “omg their drawn pectoral muscles on that human look exactly like the pectoral muscles I drew on my human, wtf copyright!!!”.

Really, this is a pointless argument. The character design may be in similar style, but its clearly not the same character.

You are supposed to be playing with others, not alone.

Says who? An MMO is just that, a massively multiplayer online game, multiplayer does not mean you have to be grouped at all times, if he solo roams and fights 20 other solo roamers over an evening then he is playing a multiplayer game.

Says WvW. Yes, you are supposed to play together to achieve the goals of WvW.

Nonsense, WvW says nothing of the sort, though feel free to show me where it says players are supposed to be grouped up at all times, if you are bothered about PPT, then a guy who solo roams (assuming he is the sort bothered about PPT) is one of the most valuable players on the map, certainly more use than yet another zergling, PPT inclined roamers take camps, defend camps, keep waypoints contested, kill stragglers, stop supply by killing dolyaks and give out scout reports, they are even more valuable off-peak, where most servers barely have anyone online.

Just read Anets description of WvW under game info :/

Not saying that you cant go alone – you can always go alone. Sometimes its even effective. But its still a choice. People that do 1v5 all day and then complain about all combat being 1v5 so thus roaming sucks have themselves to blaim, unless by chance the server population is one and the only guild there is kitten.

I solo it alot, I like running around capping camps on my own compared to the enemy usually running around with 3+ people and port away when they meet me alone. But its a choice. I am willingly solo roaming. Finding 4 other peeps and filling a party would be alot more effective. Partying up, like we’re supposed to. Dont complain about things you willingly subject yourself to even though you dont have to.

Thoughts?

Depends on the game mode.

Open-world PvE:

Easy: warrior, thief, ranger, guardian
Medium: elementalist, necromancer, engineer
Hard: mesmer

Dungeons/Fractals:

Easy: warrior, elementalist
Medium: thief, mesmer, guardian, engineer
Hard: ranger, necromancer

Why and why on your choices? They are all just as easy. Necro being “medium” in PvE and “hard” in dungeons is ridiculous. They faceroll openworld PvE with ease and they can solo dungeons. If thats “hard”, I suppose a Warrior can kill champions in 1 hit.

This seems more like a meta list, which has nothing to do with easy or hard, just whats best.

[Sugguestion] Remove Downed State From WvW.

Downed state is just as much part of the GW2 combat mechanics as dodging is. It should most definetly not be removed. Its one of the main thing that make people in GW2 actually help each other, instead of being another kittenty generic WoW MMO clone where all that matter is you and your deeps.

It could do with some tweaking for WvW though, in particular rallying off kills could be very well excluded, while still keeping ressing an important factor. A short debuff upon reviving as mentioned above is also an excellent idea.

What I don’t like is trying to find fights and only ever finding small groups that will chase you halfway across the map. Let me just say that I consider people who do this to be ruining roaming and I don’t consider them roamers at all… By pairing up with people (excluding duo roamers, I’m talking 3+) you’re just further killing people’s desire to try anything without the help of a blob.

Wat? Going up against 4 people make you want to blob, lol?

I get that solo roaming is hard but a party is not all that illogical. Everything in GW2 is based on parties of 5. Yet in WvW you scoff at it, saying they arent roamers? I highly disagree. A full party is just as much roaming and seeing plenty of them is a good thing. You are supposed to be playing with others, not alone.

I have an account on t5 eu and yes its quite balanced most of the time.

I am glad T5 is working out well.

What might be the reason for the dominance in scoring for " Far Shiverpeaks" in T4 and “Gunnar’s Hold” in T6?

http://mos.millenium.org/eu/matchups

FSP is a t1/2 server so this is an example of extreme random roll, it happens rather rarely. T6 is a problem, because we pretty much have a big population gap between #16 and #17, so whoever gets RNGd into t6 will dominate matchup.

0.1% matchup chance.

Ie the current FSP matchup is the eqvivalent of pulling a precursor out of the mystic toilet. The only thing less likely would have been Seafarers Rest going up against Underworld and Blacktide.

Reason why DH exist, so guardian can no longer go front line, every one uses range builds.
Working as intend no balance needed, everyone change do DH, statistics prove DH is a crowd pleaser.

Well, in one way its a good thing. If more zergs discovered that a heavy melee unit with Guardians doing judge straight over their AoE bomb is overwhelmingly strong and will obliterate their ranged, there would be far harder zergs to fight. Thank god most enemies stick to the mediocre pirate ship meta.

Yeah dynamic would probably be better in term of activity but brings other problems. For example, server that capitalize on “off hours” to reset upgrade would now lose that advantage. Don’t know how I feel about that…

The way dynamic borders work would change that, true. But tbh the passive tick is just a poor way to score.

Another way to handle it would be to shift from PPT to keep upgrades giving points. A T3 keep may have given your side 1000 points, but if the enemy cap it and upgrade it to T3 they get 1000 points too, making points equal. PPK would handle the rest of the points.

On my 980Ti, the graphics is completely choked regardless of settings with one exception: model limit. Changing that from high to medium during PvE boss zergs (ie 100+ people in front) make the fps go from 20 to 50+ or so. Changing anything else like say shadows from low to max changes absolutely nothing.

GW2 depend far more on the CPU than the GPU. I mean there are places in the game where you can get below 30fps… and there’s no one around. Try going into DR instances for example.

Even the latest build has the exact same behaviour – 1 file remaining, loading incredibly slow… but you can still play just fine.

Funny thing is, 3 in our guild got the 1 file remaining almost like there was no patch, but 1 guy got 300mb (and we where all playing just before the build came up, so all running the same build then).

Edit: Tried the launcher again now and finally it got the last file at fast speed. 88mb I think.

This is a numbers issue. 8 stacks dont do much when there are 50 CCs thrown out in a second, but 8 stacks is also ridiculously OP 1v1.

Stability doesnt need a “buff”, it need a rebalance. Skill that give a high number of stacks need to low pulsing number instead. Some skills have this, like elite skills. Some are stupid weak like giving 1 stack for half a second. Anet did it halfarsed.

Progression in GW2 isnt linear, especially not since they locked the story missions behind level requirement. Basicly, every 10 levels consist of about 4 levels of story, 2 levels of whatever zone you happen to be in and 4 levels of “whatever”. Its the last part that irk bored/unimaginative people. For veterans this is not a problem – usually got tons of tomes to “fill the gaps”. For new people, you really need to go out and explore. Go to one of the other zones that exist in your level range. Hell, sometimes you might even want to go back a zone and do some random events, finish up that 100% exploration. Farm some materials (you get ton of XP from mats), maybe go craft a few levels, do some sPvP, jump into WvW a while if your level allow it, etc.

This was event one: gives one stack of the buff.

Or just forget about the stack and make players pick up loot like normal, forcing them to be there when the event end.

I mean why are we even talking about a boon stack as a deciding factor to reward? Boons are boons! Boons dont give rewards!!!

Killing a mob or in the GW2 eqvivalent case, completing an event, make loot drop on the floor. The core of PvE since the beginning of times. Silverwastes is already walking a fine line with its award chests pre final event. Its needlesly making something abstract when it should be immersive and part of the world we are in.

Dawdler.8521

Personally I prefer the idea of dynamic borders through all tiers, as it would solve some ppt issues as well.

EB would be the fixed point thats open 24/7 while others open based on total current population. A closed border would have frozen ppt. The max tick possible would be dramatically reduced outside primetime. This would mean a considerable redesign though (cant have home borders).

Guard, Warrior, Ele, Necro or GWEN

Dawdler.8521

Here is an idea instead of trying to fit in with a zerg where your low amount of health and inablity to take a hit make you stand out as the weak link try to get gank squad 4 to 5 thiefs…sneak around behind and flank enemy and when the zergs clash instantly split their focus…doing this can cause low health players especially the ones who are new to game to panic wasting cleanses and heals that would have been better used in other ways

4-5 Thieves could sneak around and win fights with a few exposed backliners… Or 4-5 Necromancer could move around and win the entire battle as they bomb the backline to smithereens followed by pushing straight into the already engaged frontline in DS/Plague form to rejoin the main force.

This is the “problem” with arguing Thief usage.

Guard, Warrior, Ele, Necro or GWEN

in WvW

Posted by: Dawdler.8521

Dawdler.8521

The thing is that Guardian, Warrior, Elementalist and Necromancer can do pretty much every role your Thief can (stealth is good in dueling, but lets face it – its a crutch. Other classes dont need stealth to kill players) and at the same time perform absolutely critical roles in zerg warfare.

One might argue that Thief mobility and stealth allow him to scout better, but at the same time, any player on TS can perform that task better than any specific class. And when you get where you are going… then what? You cant contest like a Warrior or Guardian. You cant stop the zerg like an Elementalist and you cant bomb like a Necromancer. Weigh this against often completely pointless ganking.

That said, play whatever. Even Thieves can sometimes, in very rare situations when planets align, be appreciated. Extremely good players will be extremely good regardless of what they play. Personally I only change class if my guild ask me (maining a Necromancer sort of avoid conflicts though, haha).

Suggestions:
1: Reward Tiers should be based on Zone Event Completion, Not some buff applied to each person (This has led to massive “Tag and Run” zergs and would fix this in the same breath.)

Should they really?

The question is… What did you actually complete? The entire event is just a zerg event. You completed nothing.

No, I think reward should be individual per event, not related to the zone event at all. And each event have multiple stages.

Invasion Phase (xp/loot)
This is the “zerg” event where mobs spawn and try to kill you. You kill them. Of course scale with player counts. Mobs give loot and xp, just like any normal event. There would be 3-5 of these active on the map at once. It ends on a kill threshhold or whatever. This phase could be as complicated as the devs want (like, instead of pure killing, use catapults to kill a plant which then start the boss phase).

Boss Phase (actual event award)
When the invasion phase is completed, the big bad boss spawns. You kill him and get the relevant event award in a chest where he died (like normal champions). This would give the blooms for example.

And then you go to the next event and do it again, until the zone invasion event ends.

Is this really so hard? Its what GW2 have already done in the past. Its already perfect. No need to reinvent the wheel (and fail horribly at it). No kitten tagging – if you dont get the champ chest at the end, you dont get event relevant award.

You would also get the wierd situation where one week a server is “allied” with you, then the next week they are suddenly your enemy while your current enemy may be next weeks ally. It wouldnt work. It would mess up “server politics” so bad. Right now, we know who the enemy is – everyone that’s not your server. Simple and effective.

Contrarily to a lot of people, I don’t think the whole event is bad. There are good and bad things.

I… honestly cannot see the good things about it. Its incredibly poor design that is based on tagging a single mob, then moving on to the next event. And that is all there is too it. There is no end bosses, no loot, no xp, no nothing until you get your tag reward you worked so hard teleporting around the map for.

Its like a lesson on how to do the most anti-social event possible. For GW2, which prides itself on its community and doing events together… that’s just horrible to see. Its sad.

Secondly, WvW isn’t modeled after real war it’s modeled to provide interesting decisions as often as possible.

Well, if you realize what real era GW2 basicly get 90% of its combat style from – whether intended or not – you will also realize that a Thief complaining about defense is pointless. Its not the medieval fortress era, with archers tossing arrows from high places. Its actually earlier than that. We are fighing exactly like the vikings did (no really, look up viking tactics if you want). Back then, fortresses where mostly just palisades for protection and funneling. Treat them as such and you will see why this Thief fail at his work. The Thief wasnt a berserker Warrior with fall damage traited and dual axe flailing. If he was, he wouldnt have had LoS issues.

To add to the above

Understand the term “rallybait” fully and completely and that it refers not only to uplevels but also incorrectly build / geared backline and frontline consisting of people who are new, unaware or even veteran players. There are many incorrect rallybait builds posted on sites such as metabattle and gw2efficiency. Do not use them as the people who posted them are often 1 vs 1 roamers or in general part of the problem rather then the solution.

Understand the fact that there will be many times when its better to leave all rallybait behind and engage your opponents even being outnumbered then engage with a larger force while having rallybait among the group you are commanding, regardless if the rallybait is PUG or even your own Guild.

Adjust to the changing meta, do not become “stuck” in the hammertrain mindset of yesteryear. While it is still somewhat effective in some situations vs certain opponents, there are many commanders that fail at this currently and are unable to figure out why they keep wiping and adjust their gameplay style and team comp appropriately.

Start small, best start you can have is a havoc squad, 5-10 people, then grow from there. Note that your and everyones builds for group of 10, 20, 30+ are completely different and often opposite. If someone is not adjusting that person needs to be removed / replaced.

Thats a guide to guild raiding, not commanding. Rallybots will always be a factor when pug commanding. All you need to know is how much ranged and how much melee you have and adjust the way you push accordingly. You arent going to be able to change that composition very much unless its people that are willing to change for you.

One could write or read a book on this subject

I think someone did, a while ago. Sun Tzu or whatever his name was :p

Anyway, if you want to begin commanding, just pick up alot of siege (you dont have to have superior, but it helps), get on TS, put on tag and go out there and command. I would highly recommend being backed up by a guild/friends in the beginning. When you are known on the servers, people will flock to you. Starting from scratch is kind of hard though, but 5 people is often enough to start commanding a border. Unless you meet a 60 man borderzerg while still having said 5 peeps, more will gather, you will cap some keeps and you’ll have fun.
