He is one of the most powerful processors on the market and not enough in guild wars?
but that game is?
Not enough is relative.
Fact is, GW2 has a horribly optimized engine. You might as well call it a software renderer, because its barely using your graphics card. A card that see 30 fps on LOW settings in GW2 will run Grand Theft Auto 5 at maximum settings 60+ fps. There is nothing we can do about it (cant exactly upgrade our cpus and gpus when there is nothing faster… and it wouldnt make it faster anyway). Only Anet can fix this but its major rework on the engine and its simply not going to happen.
i have about 15 stacks of salvage kits
Where are you farming, in the middle of Antarctica? 1 good kit for rares and 5 basics is enough to last even the most hardcore WvWer until the next time he see a merchant.
There I just saved you 9 slots. If you get the copper salvager you save 13 slots.
Why you need 20 stacks of sigils is beyond me, those can probably be optimised down to a dozen various weapons for different situations.
Or you could simply toss some of your kitten. If you have 4 safe bags just to hold inventory and still cant manage the other 80 slots for loot because you are running out of space, you have way too much crap.
Also, you pretty much want a legendary armor piece. Do you want to pay 2000 gold for the pleasure of saving a couple of inventory slots? If you say yes… Why yes, I do think you are insane. But each to their own I guess.
Turning on friendly fire remain by far the best – and most hilarious – idea.
Come on. It will be glorious.
We get guild guild halls for HoT, dont hope for anything else beyond the home instance. GW2 aint ever going to have the engine tech to rival modern MMO and set up something like that.
BDO is awesome in theory but come on… We all know its gonna get grabbed by a money grubbing f2p western publisher that will first go on and on a about how its not p2w, sell it for $100, then make it completely p2w on release.
Forget about that game. By showing this video, you are pouring salt in open wounds. MMOs has no hope in the west. I have higher hopes for GW3 than BDO and we dont even know if it exist yet.
While replies in the past from Arenanet have been less than encouraging (“it’s out of our control – it’s the network” kind of replies), whenever I’ve called Telia I just get stonewalled (“we’re Telia the ISP, that’s Telia the international carrier – no can help”, sort of). It seems like if Arenanet would sit down with “Telia the international carrier” and express concerns over network connectivity, it might have a chance of getting attention.
It’s getting real old having connection issues over a network carrier’s inability to keep a server pool steady.
Yeah that’s the thing: We as end users cant do anything because its not the ISP, its the infrastructure… which just happens to be Telia. Telia is huuuuuuuuuge.
http://gw2status.de/ look completely different today, so I guess Anets solution was if its broke, remove it :P
Can imagine that the pressure on the remaining servers are higher though.
There you can see how healthy the GW2 content servers are.
2/3rds are down.
Its probably affecting things. Some people are getting in, others not. I have been able to sporadically log on, but cant load maps and if they do load I dc soon after. It’s taking me 1+ minute currently just when clicking the login button, a process that usually take a few seconds… Not going to bother, meh.
Just because you don’t have an issue doesn’t mean there isn’t one. There’s alot of GW2 servers. You can check them out here: http://gw2status.de/
2/3rds of asset servers are down… Yeah that’s kind of a problem :/
So the question to Anet is…
What was patched friday?
The tuesday patch notes has one later addition, which match fridays patch. All it did was this:
Fixed a bug in which the Hero panel alert icon displayed incorrectly for some professions.
Did this break the game? How could it possibly have done that. What was patched in the game this friday that Anet havent said anything about?
They broke the game this friday due to a patch that did this, apparently:
Bug Fixes:
Fixed a bug in which the Hero panel alert icon displayed incorrectly for some professions.
Yep, that’s the ONLY change noted since the tuesday patch.
This being able to break the game is… unbelievable.
Since Anet broke the game yesterday, I am guessing WvW activity is low across the board.
What’s the bug this time? (I haven’t been on).
Well, try to log on then. See if you can. Many people cant even log into the kitten game right now.
I log into one character – it take 90+ seconds to load LA and when I finally get in the map… Its DCed without even kicking me out.
Log back on to another character, load the first zone fine, port into LA which also load fine and I think “meh maybe a fluke, I’ll try the first character again”.
Choose to log out, black screen. Force shut down the game, now I cant log back into the game.
Build: 51902
Error Code: 58:11:5:535
Fix your darn game Anet, its been broken since yesterday
Yep they did something yesterday that messed up everything. Patching on a friday is never a good idea :/
Since Anet broke the game yesterday, I am guessing WvW activity is low across the board.
I just tried to log on my guard in malchor, after waiting 60 seconds on a map that normally load in less than 10 seconds, I gave up. Logged in to my necro, that worked… joining FSP EB (no queues on any border btw) and loading the map hangs as well, so kitten that kitten. Yesterdays reset was unplayable for many people due to dc.
Lulwat? Is this trolling? Its hard to tell.
With perfect balance and equal skill, 1v2+ is supposed to impossible.
Just report him for abuse in return. Aint harder than that.
If its sPvP, the correct answer is… You dont fight them. You hold out long enough for +1 to come and help you do the kill. If you can kill them solo… well that’s just swell. If you happen to be that +1 zerker and try to engage a class/build designed to counter it, expect to die. Because you’re supposed to.
When getting moa, no matter who did it the key has always been to fall back and LoS the enemy. You only go full kitten (ie peck away at them with your beak) if you are certain you will win the fight, which is pretty much never in a 1v1.
I run with something similar to this: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vVAQNAR8flsAhmhY5QwSIQQEHxDVNAag61GCvwjmTxWcGB-TViAABJcQA+U9HY2fAgHAgg6GkUJoYK/64CAsxRAgQAKmDA-w
(I honestly cant remember the exact sigils I use, lol).
But even though it seems like its a hybrid… its a freakin class cannon. Seriously, the Guardian is a poor solo roamer, any high mobility duelist (ie most other roamers) will crush him. I roam better on my Necro and that kind of says everything, lol. But its still fun to play with. In small groups when used as a shocktrooper its awesome. The burn stacks really hurt and if the enemy group engaging is melee and stack up on you, they dont stand a chance. They will burn.
(edited by Dawdler.8521)
Oh wow, what did Anet do with the patch that launched today?
Worst reset in a very, very long time. People are dcing left and right, lags, rubberbanding, crashing, etc.
If you already got zerker trinkets, change the armor to zerker. Easier than going full condi.
Personally I run carrion armor and dire+rabid trinkets on my guard for roaming and PvE, works perfectly fine. Groups of mobs completely melt due to some 2K condi dmg while the gear technically make it a tanky hybrid.
I doubt its meant as stability, just an extra boost to the stunbreaker.
Because if it was intended as actual stability, then its the kittentiest skill in the game and hilariously broken.
At that level you can run around with no traits, a pair of speedos and a broken twig as a weapon.
Just pick anything, lol. The easiest weapon when leveling is dagger (learn the speed trait first) and for armor… whatever.
So… uh… Every day you see more and more roamers that has purposebuilt condi specs for roaming, but since you havent built for countering it roaming is officially dead.
Theres is some sort of problem with that argument but I cant quite put my finger on it.
There’s no problem with the argument. Anyone who has played both condition and power builds will tell you that many condition builds requires absolutely no brain at all. I myself and many others simply prefer a GW2 where people with a brain perform the best. Certain condition builds however allow brainless players to perform on a really high level because of the skill floor of these builds.
It’s endemic to GW2 really because the game is built around skill being as much of a non-factor as possible to cater to as many casuals as possible, but the problem has become more and more prominent with the release of many patches, the most kitten ing one being the introduction of an entirely new condition without changing and condition clearing skills whatsoever.
Right. No problem at all. You just dont want roamers that found effective builds for roaming to actually use those builds, because its too easy to kill other people with them. And we cant have roamers running around killing people, can we?
So… uh… Every day you see more and more roamers that has purposebuilt condi specs for roaming, but since you havent built for countering it roaming is officially dead.

So in summation, I prolly suck. Give me tips so that I at least have a chance against every class, most annoyingly mesmers.
Simple: When they get close, wellbomb yourself. Mesmers often cant handle pressure. The really dangerous ones are double twohanders. Only ds can win that fight. No lf? You be dead.
The game should translate everything you write into your respective race language instead. No more English or German or Spanish, just Asuran, Charr etc and you have to spend years learning them until you finally understand each other.
Or pay $50 for the expansion that give you Common mastery of course.
I didn’t look at condi damage stats.
The point of this thread was to talk about how you can ruin your DPS easily by mixing sets in power builds. A lot of people do that and that’s why a lot of PUGs in PvE have low DPS.
Tbh I think even pugs understand that having less power, crit chance and critdamage means you do less direct damage. There are only 2 sets that give that. Its not complicated. In PvE people have low dps because they choose to, which is often the veterans that explore other options (such as condi on specific classes) or people that just dont care and play casually.
I was looking at math on stats for power builds to optimize one of my builds. I hadn’t been aware of just how bad it can get when you try to mix in defensive stats.
What I found is that for power damage, berserker’s > knight’s > soldier’s > celestial. Furthermore, that applies to mixing in all cases. Examples to illustrate this point:
- Mixing in soldier’s is always less damage than mixing in knight’s.
- Full knight’s > any mix of knight’s/soldier’s/celestial.
- Full soldier’s > any mix of soldier’s/celestial.Celestial looks like a way to round out a power build, but it’s a trap. It’s only good if you’re using the condi damage and healing power too.
As for valkyrie’s and cavalier’s, they result in a damage loss compared to captain’s/knight’s unless you add in external crit chance sources like fury and traits.
The big takeaway is that health has a huge opportunity cost. You have to give up a lot of damage to get health. This is because there’s no P/p/v gear.
There is power/vitality/condi though. My burn Guardian can reach 2200 condi damage and have 24K hp in WvW… and 1500 toughness on top since trinkets are dire+rabid.
The big takeaway I get from this thread is that I have no idea what the point is. There are hybrids and there are zerkers, yes.
Many of them have a more lasting impact. Temples for example. GW2 has by far the best event system I know in a game, but its not perfect, no. Some of them feel a little sloppy, but then again there are like thousands of them in the world. Its really just a matter of design and they arent going to change much now. I’m hoping HoT will bring really good event chains that feel like they are worth doing… and that hurt when you fail.
Fuzzy hats. Works greats. Ever seen a Asura in a fuzzy frog hat? It’ll give you nightmares.
You should be able to buy pets for your pets, which can equip outfits so that your pet can roleplay too (in an outfit).
Also, hats that you can wear on your shoulders and hands. Not having hand-hats is a disgrace. An outfit is not complete without at least 3 hats. And each hat should be able to own a pet that you can dress up.
Do you even know how programming works? Something that seems like it would be easy or “just the push of a button” really isn’t. You’re talking about a function to manually override player characters to become hostiles. In the open world which has been layered with thousands of lines of code.
Well, except in the case of GW2, where it is as simple as setting some variables. WvW and PvE is the same thing. The enviroment is controlled by server rules which can be changed by events, even for specific zones. Setting every player to hostile is easily done. GW2 already supports it.
The Shatterer event in Plains of Ashford which enabled open world PvP between corrupted and normal players followed by Destinys Edge instakilling everyone, remember?
I have been seeing tons of Necros in sPvP lately. Even when there is no Necro daily, 2+ per team. A month ago I saw 1 Necro other than me every 5 round or so, if even that.
What has changed? Absolutely nothing AFAIK. I am running pretty much the same protective wells bunker build I had 6 months ago (the trait change only made it better, but I was doing fine before).
Its funny to see a what was previously thought to be a bottom class turn meta on a whim, lol. Incidently most Necros I meet I can easily kill. You notice a clear difference from people that found the Necro just recently and slightly more seasoned Necros.
You’re a complete lie. If King Jong Un really wanted T1 servers to open… T1 servers would open. Everyone that has seen the 100% factual documentary episodes of The Adventures of King Jong Un knows that.
OR they could just change modifiers on “healer” traits (Guardian healing symbols is an obvious example) so that they have much stronger heals when maxing out healing power.
Sometimes the simplest change work just as good.
Ouch… You are missing out on some serious loot. Dailies give your monthly allocation of laurels so you can buy ascended trinkets. Also give mats for crafting legendary and ascended. Its pretty much free stuff, completing daily take about 15 mins
lol it take like 10 minutes to do a couple of WvW dailies and you dont even have to fight players for it (ruins, camp, sentry are easy). sPvP dailies is often one round to get them all.
If you cant do the daily, tbh you dont deserve the daily. Try again tomorrow.
In the end, it would be a tool to help players, even if they decide to use it for “evil” stuff…
Yes thats what they all say… And then the tool turn out to be a nuclear bomb, lol.
Look if you want to do such a webpage, just do it. If guilds want to use it, let them. I just dont think think people will use it as a tool to improve raiding, they will use it to control other people.
www.trustissuewars2.com maybe?
I think there is bigger problems than builds in a guild if the leader doesn’t trust his members.
Lol yeah.
I honestly dont think WvW guilds should take this path. It will only lead to the Dark Side.
It will probably be bad enough when we start seeing lfg with “Zerkers only, need hardcoreGW2dungeonrunners.com validated account!!!”
WvW Invitational Statement from John Corpening, game director for World vs. World
in WvW
Posted by: Dawdler.8521
Someone should start a new thread after every patch tuesday listing “You had time to do this in sPvP/PvE, but not that in WvW”. I mean we get that they are busy, but still.
Like:
You had time to program ambient occlusion in the graphics engine, but you cant make garrison inner south door upgreadeable.
You had people work hard to fix the entire personal story, but no one can remove the constant particle effect in the water south of garrison.
You had Lions Arch rebuilt, but cant move spawn invoulnerability zones 4 meters to prevent exploits.
Agreed. Lower it to 10 for every 1% and we’d probably have a much better game.
Yes, cash → gems has always been expensive.
No, Anet wont change it.
Is the MMO genre becoming stale and people are prefering smaller more casual games?
Sooo… You havent noticed that almost every big p2p MMO since WoW has failed? Of course its stale. It hasnt been until recent years that a big shift toward f2p happened – which often result in either incredibly mediocre games or quick cash grabs that revolted the players. The really good ones are often incredibly simple matchup style games. There is no new “WoW killer” and given the effort in the industry, there never will be.
The end result of this is that we are stuck on old games. GW2 is old, yes. Bigger games has been released and fallen to obscurity in the time its been out. That people stop playing should surprise no one, it always happen with time.
Not really. Not anymore. Anet effectivly killed roleplaying by introducing the megaservers years ago. Before that, we had servers specifically targeted to roleplayers, such as Piken Square EU mentioned above (that’s what I joined on release). Random roleplaying could be seen in the early days, it was quite enjoyable. Now its very rare.
Your best bet is to go to any city (DR probably most popular) and look for roleplaying guilds, if that’s what you are looking for.
The exact same way you get 1,000,000 dolyak kills.
Perserverence.
Would be interesting to know. In my experience… there are none, hahaha. No really, I have tried pretty much every spec and they are all good for specific situations, but suck at being flexible while roaming. Go one spec, I cant even survive 3 seconds against small groups, go another spec, I cant even cap a T1 camp, go a third spec, I cant kill anyone, etc and so on. My Necro is a 10x better roamer than my Guard, lol. But maybe I just suck at it.
2. Create more player-based incentives for players who are active during low-coverage time zones to still login and fight for their world by giving higher-than-normal rewards and/or unique rewards.
I havent read everything, but that is a horrible idea. Its the worst kind of game design. Loot or unique rewards should never be given to “special” players – its not the average players fault that normal people play during normal hours. There is enough problems with the PvE/WvW split in terms of loot, we dont need another split inside WvW.
Nightcapping/coverage is an issue purely revolving around static and inflexible PPT, not players.
Start with 6 factions. These factions operate in a similar way to the Vigil, DP, and OoW, as they are not technically enemies, but they vie for resources type of thing. There are two, 3 way matches going on, incorporating all 6 factions. However, here is where it is different.
Instead of competing against only two other factions for that round, you are actually competing against all five. All placements and matchups (1st, 2nd, so on) are dynamically changing based on score. If the fourth ranked faction gets more points than the third ranked faction, then the fourth ranked faction takes third place, and the third place faction drops down to fourth. Now here’s the real kicker, this can happen mid matchup.
Example, Faction D is in third place, and holds 100,000 points on wednesday. Faction A is in fourth place, and thus in the other matchup with 5th and 6th place factions, but has 140,000 points on wednesday. Because the points of faction A are higher than faction D, faction A switches places with faction D.
It is a six way battle, with an artificial barrier between the top and bottom three factions. Basically, the six factions are constantly changing matchups based on how many points they have. The faction with the most points, will occupy 1st place, but if, in the other match, the faction ranked number 4 gets more points than the 1st place faction, then the matchup readjusts itself to move the factions based on their rank point wise.
What exactly happen when when this change take place? If Server3 is loosing the first tier matchup and goes below the points of Server4 in the second tier matchup… Do they start with no keeps? How are they supposed to gain points when the change occur? And what happen to old Server3, do they inherit all the keeps of Server4 and proceed to roflstomp their opponent?
I understand the idea of what you’re saying, but its not going to work. Its going to be too unpredictable and chaotic if servers shuffle in the middle of a matchup. For the one going up, its probably going to feel like a punishment, a hopeless cause. Since no balance of the actual players will be taking place dynamically, 2 server will be stuck in the eqvivalent of glicko hell (moving up and down the tiers like a ping pong ball), 2 servers will always be on top because of coverage and 2 servers will always be stuck at the bottom also because of coverage.
Even considering server imbalances in the current system, I honestly cannot see this idea being any better. Its just the current system with less servers, a much faster matchup pace and no resets when the new matchup occur.
(edited by Dawdler.8521)
If you “cover that whole area” with the no build siege buff, then you only move the exploit further out from spawn. Which wouldnt really be all that good.
They need to change the entire system so that siege get the buff as well and that any siege with the buff cannot be built. That way its impossible to build siege inside the spawn area regardless of players building it from the outside.
But that require recoding the system. So its unlikely to be fixed.
With the current borders being removed when HoT comes out, there’s no point either.
