You know that if you looking for better fights when roaming you have to look for the enemy servers. FSP cant help when the enemy bring a 40 man zoneblob to an outmanned border anymore than the server can help when FSP bring 40 man. If you simply want less players, move down a tier or two.

Piken is only going to give you better fights when facing FSP lol.

It would be a lot better if golems actually fought each other. But fights tend to be very one sided.

On reset we fought in golems because it was fun for an hour, now we dump them safely before fighting because it interrupts the train for too long. Unless its 15+ Omegas you cant even get close to due to AoE, a zerg of players beat a zerg mixed with golems assuming equal numbers.

This is the worst event anet has ever come up with. It only rewards the ppt kitten and the servers with the highest population. Cmon kitteng anet think about kitten before you do it.

Lol, PPT mean nothing this week. Nobody care about PPT. All that matters is that you move either clockwise or counterclockwise and cap keep after keep and hope that the enemy server holds this “silent agreement” so that you dont have to spend extra minutes walking over their corpses. Seriously, why does a server that’s been wiped over and over even try to defend their paper garrison when 30 golems are coming to flip for the 5th time in an hour. Backcap kitten , stick with the program.

At least Anet should have the courtesy of removing the lord buff. We literally cant rotate keeps fast enough when going in circles, I’m seeing seeing 1-2 minute timers! That’s just ridiculous! The lord buff is ruining WvW!!!

That make no sense, since the number of golems deployed is heavily limited by supply.

The reason is probably much simpler than this.

They had a meeting and the question “What can we do for WvW?” was thrown out. Some noob intern (probably, at least thats what Anet will state) jokingly blurted out “I know, lets double the damage, speed and make golems cost 0 supps, lol”. Everone laughed. The intern laughed at his own joke. The PvE team started joking about letting everyone play as the Shatterer instakilling everything.

When the laughs had died out, the lead dev asked “Does the WvW team has any objections?”. Everyone sat there, quietly waiting for the response from the WvW team, probably something witty and sarcastic.

“OK since no one objects we roll with Golem event, the meeting is concluded”

Good luck trying to argue this to people. When the AoE limit hit (ie 5 man) and people proclaimed it as the end of the world as we know it and zergs could never ever be killed again, I tried to argue to people that AoE is still unlimited on the receiving end. IE 1 player will still get hit by 100 players, not just 5 of them – that is what zergs thrive on and that’s what should have been looked at. There are no “diminishing returns” for attacking with overwhelming AoE. Which means that AoE will always be OP. But nope, everyone just went on and on and on about the horrific 5 man limitation from their attacking perpective and how it would kill WvW if it wasnt unlimited (I must have missed when that happened).

Can we re-evaluate the stability change?

I’m fairly ignorant in terms of zerg fights, but if the meta is now more ranged than ever, isn’t reflection a bigger thing than before? Sure, many AOEs are not reflectable (wells, marks, meteor shower…) but many ranged AA are.
I am just a mesmer who has mostly roamed but is interested in zerg fights if only my server had a larger population…

It both is and isnt. More carry reflection now, but not really because of the change in the stability, its because the new meta include heavy commander focus from cheezy servers, often with entire ranger squads unloading at once. Most other meta AoE is either Guardian (which doesnt care about reflect) and Necro (which doesnt care about reflect either) with some Elementalists thrown in for good measure (which are mostly brought for statics anyway). Reflects is just a safety net.

Map doesn’t suck, people playing it do. The mechanic of the map is simple enough for a 10 yo to understand in first 3 min, yet, people run around like headless chickens.

Must be the worlds smartest 10 year old then.

I played about 5 rounds of Stronghold in the weekend (all lost of course) and I still dont have a kittening clue how the point system even works, except that it has nothing to do with PvP.

Or maybe I am just kittened, I dont know.

Awfull. I tried a PVT replacement to a Guardian in the party and it sucks so bad with a hammer. You got some fancy skills and stability sure, but your damage is non existant even though its supposed to be 1200 range AoE. Its like trying to use a Mesmer staff in a zerg. Like 1 out of 20 autoattacks connects, the rest just vanish.

When I found roaming enemy revenants, they didnt stand a chance.

Can we re-evaluate the stability change?

Indeed, the meta havent even changed. GWEN is stronger than ever after the trait changes. Its still melee train with a ranged backline. Plays exactly like before, with somewhat less stability. Engagements can drag out a bit as you need to time your assault after the enemy dropped the bomb, but once there the melee train usually roll all over them.

This is my experience fighting T1-3 EU servers at least.

If they allow us to preset builds for each individual gameplay mode since what works in Conquest doesnt work in Stronghold, I would be fine with just one queue and Stronghold being voted on when the map comes up in rotation.

Oh we’ve had that problem from the start. Not being able to change your character is a major flaw. You newer know if you queue as a Necro, only to find a zerg with 15 Necros and 1 Guardian. And then the next time you join as a Guardian because you learned from your mistake, of course the zerg has 1 Necro and 15 Guardians. When you got 1-2 hours queue time, changing just isnt possible.

But obviously Anet has never seen this as a problem. So here we are. At least queues actually work now, compared to earlier. That’s always something.

If you call gaining Karma an incentive…….Its more like a joke. Any player can goto EOTM and gain karma way faster than in WvW. Most players I know don’t go to wvw to karma train objectives.

Anything that is an incentive to play WvW – karma included – is a good thing for WvW. Because it brings the players. Without players, we wouldnt have anything to fight. WvW is already widely regarded as having poor rewards compared to PvE.

Lack of a Stunbreak doesn’t bother me much, haven’t had problems with being stunlocked too much unless im gonna die anyways due to zerg diverting to come kill me while im running around by myself (yes it happens.) If it bugs you, you can always run foot in the grave, or take spectral armor or whatever.

You dont want to run either really. Foot in the grave still cant compete with +50% crit (the stability is too short and still just one measly stack) and spectral armor is redundant since you now get traited wells for the meta wellbomber because you might can use well of power as third skill. Not quite as long protection, but decent condi cleanse for the zerg and stunbreaker for you.

That said, I prefer the hybrid. Much, much better survivability, especially if your commander goes nuts and try to 20 vs full zoneblob in an enemy garrison.

Plenty of pots to change your character. My advice? Just do it. Yeah its hard with a big fat Charr. It is supposed to be. If it was supposed to be easy, we’d all be playing Asuran mesmer and portal each other past everything.

Dont be one of them scrubs that run as the simplest/best/meta class and size just because its the easiest. Its a game, you set the standard.

After my first round the only thought I have is “how does a team even get points?!”

The entire setup for the gameplay is confusing and overly complicated. All I saw at the end was about 100 to 400 and a loss. None of the lords where killed. I dont know why we lost. They had opened the first gate and we held them there galantly. I dont know how we could have won. I dont know what give them score and I dont know what give us score, only that they had ALOT more score than us and kept raking it in. I have no idea wtf is going on, lol.

Having only the escort NPCs to gate thing would be complicated enough for me kitten .

Defensive builds, even more worthless

Well since there is absolutely zero purpose to running to running bunker in Stronghold, of course defensive build are useless. I just joined the first round as a bunker Necro and I noticed that within the first minute of the fight. I have no purpose there, none whatsoever. I cant defend anything, I cant hold anything and classes which thrive in a wide combat area turn into complete faceroll (Mesmers most obviously). You cant do jack kitten against them. At least in Conquest their stealth (and Thieves) is balanced by the fact that being you cant cap a point while stealthed.

So again, of course they are worthless. I hope Anet either allow us to save two seperate builds for the maps or have separate queues because it aint going to be fun joining on a bunker build in Stronghold.

Only EB and Desert BL?

People have been reporting that the new Desert BL is large. Perhaps the plan is to only have EB and only one copy of the Desert BL?

And even if this isn’t the plan, maybe it’s something to consider (depending on how “fair” the three keep layouts are).

Yeah… That wont work unless the new maps support about 1000 people. Which would be fun, it’ll play at about 5 fps and allow you to pop a skill every 5 minute, given the fact that GW2 just barely cope with 50 players at the same spot.

I managed to 1 on 1 duel a Revenent in WvW yesterday, using my zerker well Necro.
He couldnt even bring me below 90% HP due to tickling damage. But granted, maybe he was just really kittenty at the Revenant, lol.

Them roads though. Rev is going to be meta in WvW just because of support skills, I expect 20 man guild groups to bring about 2 of them. I dont think they will replace backline peeps, I think they will replace a couple of Guardians. Really depend on how tanky you can make them though, I havent tried.

Only Anet can fix this by equalizing PPT between high and low activity… and they are clearly not interested in fixing it, only pleasing the plebs by tossing golems at them.

Ridiculous you cant actively punish one team because the other team is rage quitting.

If anything what needs a look into is the impact of OUT-MANED across all maps.
The buff should be significant as to give the severely outnumbered force a real fighting chance not the pathetic bonuses it gives now.:

I definitely think the outmanned buff needs a look, but the problem is the risk with making it too strong, which would potentially create incentive to use it for strategic advantage, and infighting to get people to leave the map.

One area that couldn’t hurt much IMO is to buff defensive siege during outmanned buff, increasing range/damage and possibly stealthing your siege until its used.

Not to mention it would unbalance balanced snapshots in unbalanced matches. IE 1v1 meetings. Or 5v5 or whatever you want. Its not exactly anyones fault in a random encounter that 60 people just came on border to karmatrain. We dont want to see player buffed anymore than we wanted guard stacks.

Duration is most definetly not reduced proportionally. A Guardian can literally burn someone with 20K HP to death after a single burst, if they dont cleanse. If those 12+ 1-5K ticks lasted 2 seconds at most, I would maybe agree with you.

Thats like saying the 1 month aegis duration would be much more balanced by having 2 weeks duration instead. It still last forever.

For character < 80 it doesnt even matter what you spec. You can have no spec and would do just as good in PvE and die/rallybot just as much in WvW. Worst case, maybe I can agree that you will be at a disadvantage in Orr zones at 75-79.

At 80 you can spec everything and still have hundreds of points left.

what are you talking about?
condition damage have already been lowered a lot.
those with 0 condition damage already do very little condition damage per tick.

take a look at burning.

(0.155 * Condition Damage) + 131.5 damage per stack per second at Level 80

so, at 0 condition damage, it deals 131.5 damage per stack per second at level 80

for burning to do 1k damage per second with 0 condition damage, at least 8 stacks of burning needs to be applied onto the burn victim.

that is working as intended.

In other words, a Guardian with 300 condi dmg (the eqvivalent of speccing down the condi dmg tree prepatch) will tick about 2100 dmg per second for a duration of maybe 15 seconds.

Theoretically the Ranger can be a nasty foe, but in practice 90% of them run in blind longbowpewpewentangle mode and are likely to make their team loose. I have seen a Ranger stand for a minute and pewpew me from max range while I hold the point, wondering just wtf he’s trying to do. The ones that know how to go melee and at least try to decap are far more dangerous foes.

Simply put, they dont generally fit the gameplay mode. If dueling won matches, sure they would be decent. It doesnt. Melee brawls on points win matches. When we know that, we bring better classes. If we really want range, we bring more utility and burst, such as a Mesmer.

Yesterday I did a 1v3 on point with my Necro and won within the first 3 seconds of the fight by popping a single skill. I dont even have damage, running full bunker. Their own guardian killed his two zerker buddies with burning and then he died shortly after as well.

I must admit, I laughed quite maniacally.

Not really when they own a keep right outside of your spawn area.

That doesnt change the fact there are three exits from spawn, same as on EB.

If they can spawn all 3 exits at once on all 4 maps, not let any thieves/mesmers past whatsoever and keep the spawns completely locked down… well kudos to them, they are like the most organized server ever.

3) Moa locks down 2 of our main builds (mm and power necro) I dont know why this still does what it does. It now gives even MORE benefit because its a passive until it needs to be used.

What an odd point to argue. Last I checked, Moa locked down all the builds on all professions. I fail to see how the Necro is particularly worse off.

I think DR kicks in randomly for RNG as well. In my experience there seems to be alot higher chance to actually succeed on your first couple of tries when doing just a couple every other day on different characters, than doing it constantly on just one character. But maybe that’s just me.

To be honest I have never really been that keen on the idea of seperating players by server. I would of rather it was a faction based system, kind of like how ESO did it with alliance battles.

You already have that. Its called EoTM. Would EoTM work on a grander scale, with multiple borders and faction scoring similar to WvW? Meeeeh maybe. But there is one problem that will be hard to solve – weekly competition between server guilds. Keep in mind the lower cap of a GW2 border compared to ESO Cyrodill. You would either need an awkward map browser with 100+ borders or like how EoTM work now, megaserver style. If its like EoTM, you dont know with who you will fight or against who. TS become difficult to organize and guilds cant have friendly rivalry when they meet a certain server. It would be chaos. Perhaps good chaos for some, but no doubt bad for others (there is a reason WvWers dislike EoTM).

The reason ESO could work (in theory) is because they only had like 3-4 populated battlegrounds. Easy to get an oversight and easier to know who you are fighting.

think they did in chinas servers but i could be remembering wrong but i know some kind of merge happened their so i know the coding exist. it is very likely that the servers wvw is just lacking not the actual size of the server as a whole which is why we have yet to see one happen. also devs are working 100% on hot right now lol

There is no “code” required for this, server merging already exist. Anet wont admit it, but we know it for a fact since WvW was accidentally merged before in a rather confusing event, lol. Its as simple as the game joining you to the instance of another server when you click a border. Doing this for all characters on a server is just a short database script away.

Bunker build?

Not at home so I cant do the exact build, but I can share the idea:

Sentinel amulet, earth runes for extra protection, doom sigils to keep people suppressed and energy sigils for dodge.

Running with staff, dagger/warhorn (you can use whatever as offhand though) and all wells (except the blind well). Main traits is protective wells and siphoning, automatic ds when low hp and stability on ds. Blood, Death and whatever the third is called.

Given the right enemy combos (ie wrong), you can tank 1v3 for a minute or so, more than enough time for help to arrive, because thats what you rely on to win the round. Every other game I stand on center the entire time without dying. You will increase your teams chance of winning considerably if you make a habit to run center asap and hold at any cost.

You can even handle pretty well vs the new guardian burning meta. Just let em stack 10+, then transfer with staff 4 and laugh. I have had guardians kill their own teammates. If thats on cd, you got the well cleanse and ds cleanse.

The key to surviving is managing your ds, as always.

I have two legendaries (yeah I got lucky and had the resources, it was a long time ago where everything was cheaper) and my advice is… dont get any legendary. None of them are really “worth” the cost and time Their actual value is like 200g (like having all specs weapons). There is always new skins coming. And like in the case of the howler, you dont even know if they will keep being awesome. Or the crummy Bifrost footfalls that was “improved” (ie little to no difference). You can change stats now at least, but they really need free sigils of choice as well.

I strongly agree with 2. WvW Legendary gear and skins. Let us use our badges and ranks to earn Legendary gear and unique skins that can ONLY be earned through accumulated badges.

Np, just hand it to the guy that made achievements.

Precursors are 500 million badges, if you want to buy legendaries directly its 10 billion badges.

Edit: you forgot healing spring is wonky now. I get knocked out of it frequently, killed before even getting heal in. The extra .5s activation time is a huge nerf to a skill that needs to be near instant.
