On the other hand, if you delete your characters before the yearly anniversary of their creation, you won’t receive a birthday gift. I know this is unfortunate for those of you who regularly delete and re-roll characters, but this is the way the birthday system works.

Unfortunetly, this sucks for pre makeoverkit characters. One of my first characters was a Charr that I thought was too thin. He was ugly. Couldnt change it. Kept him for a while, debating if I should delete him or not. Eventually, I deleted him… And a month later makeover kit came out.

Simple way to fix stale Tier matchups

Simplest solution to fix stale match up?

Put a cap on the highest rating and the lowest rating a server can have.

For example, the highest could be 2000 and the lowest could be 1000.

Would mean nothing for EU – just two servers are below 1000 and none are above 2000.

Bracket limitations would be better. Not quite one up one down, but enough so that glicko actually drops you a position when you loose a couple of times.

Stacking should be improved with the new population calculations, but it wont “normalize” for quite some time (overstacked servers will remain overstacked until people leave). Personally I still think people clinging to low tier servers are making a mistake, as a community we should migrate up, abandon low tiers and mark to Anet that they are not OK and could be removed (ie shuffle up to increase average population). If they find that all servers are full when HoT come out, after low tiers are taken out of the picture? Well just raise the entire bar a notch.

But it wont happen. Either way, WvW is not exactly dead. It is a lull before HoT, yes. The new borders should shake things up. Whether that’s good or bad for the WvW community is another thing.

Lower tiers will disagree with you and so will anet.

Migrating down improves and normalizes performance for everyone. No more “5 second lag spikes” while the server attempts to calculate every floater in the area.

The entire notion that lower tiers are empty is because people who used to be on them flooded upwards during season 1 for rewards, blame seasons for that non-sense.

Migrating down from what? “Full” servers that has 3/4 zones without any queue 20 hours a day? The same servers that would probably collapse if just a couple major guilds or well known pug commanders left? Migrating down is pointless.

No clue on spreadsheet unless this is how they track where the forces are spread out for reset.

Not just for reset, for every day. When you got a big server with multiple large guilds that raid daily, you want to spread them out. Dont want 5 30 man guilds trying to cram into one border , not fun for anyone.

Militia is pretty much everyone thats not raiding. Just a fancy name for your average WvW player

The “echo” effect is horrible. It sounds more like its a corrupt/broken file than an echo. Ugh I cant describe it in english… But you know when you have some really crappy speakers and the bass start to distort? That’s the new warhorn (except its on the high end). Its atrocious. One of the worst game sounds I have heard. Having a decent quality headset probably doesnt make it any better. There are no pros with this. The old sound was fine. The dev that thought this was a good idea must be completely tone deaf.

This differ from server to server, but to compare with FSP EU:

- Queueing at the deep end is about 30-50 man on EB, but its not that common anymore. 0 queue and 50 queue is basicly if its a commander or not there. Borders have no or low queue.

- Not really. Yes there are “hardcore” guilds but the militia is what wins matchups. Pick a class you are good at, pick a spec that doesnt rallybot constantly and you’re good to go. Of course, its pretty boring without a guild.

- Big zergs is 40-60 man, small zergs 20-30, guild raids range from 15-25. Roaming parties are rare nowadays. On a “populated” border there is usually 2 guild raids and 1 blue commander or 1+1 or just 1-2 raids. EB usually just the blue commander, few guilds raid there.

- Raid commanders yes, blue commanders no. If there are 2 blue, they generally do not stand a chance against the enemy zerg. It does still happen from time to time though, like when a borderhop commander joins a map that already has a commander.

- Webpage, forum, border spreadsheet etc. But mostly just TS… One gigantic TS for the entire server, with tons of channels. Its quite lovely.

You can easily create a second account, but you need to buy another copy of the game. Not so cheap now though (lots of people I know got a 2nd or 3rd account when it was on sale).

Yep I am hearing it from all horns (other players as well) so its not just on my warrior/necro. There appear to be other sounds that are “corrupt” as well but I cant really specify them… hear them now and then while running with the zerg, think some are coming from ele swiftness or something.

Edit: I noticed that it no longer crackle when launching on Win10… something changed with sounds?

Noticed that both my Warrior warhorn and Necro warhorn sound… wrong… after todays patch. Almost as if the file is corrupted or something. Its like a static noise, cant describe it. Its pretty darn annoying.

Anyone experience the same or is it just my game that’s broken, lol. Or did they change it?

A toxic community always comes with player competition, especially when said community becomes more and more condensed. GW2 dont have much new blood incoming.

For example just today I learned that if you dont know every player in competetive teams by name, you’re not allowed to post in this forum. Apparently.

You can stop it by asking pre-mades to go ranked. Even 2-man queues. People team up to win, and if they’re dedicated enough to find a friend, they’re serious enough to go ranked.

Thats a problem with players, not the game. Anet cant fix players. If they tried they would probably break them further.

Maybe OP should have tried ranked instead, if he find too many premades in unranked. Last I checked, there wasnt even any point to playing unranked as solo queue (or otherwise) unless you really like the maps. Personally I dont even know why we have unranked queue. Ranked is just as “relaxed” play. Its not like you join matches to purposely AFK and loose.

How would you stop it from happening? Not allow people to play with their friends? Only allow 2 man groups? I bet 2 Orange Logo would still roflstomp against all pugs, if the rest are decent. What if you got 3 buddies that want to play? Let them queue in the 3-5 man premades onl… oh wait. Thats impossible. Because they could never find the remaining 2. Split premade queues? Queue as a 4 man only to find that no other 4 man teams currently queueing… well, Anet would tell you that of course, you’d just be queueing forever.

Maybe we should only allow 5 mans in tournaments. Its not like sPvP need players anyway, pfff. Wonder how thin we can spread the already low supply of PvPers.

The mixed queue is a necessary evil IMO. Yeah you meet premades. Sometimes you win, sometimes you loose. Sometimes you meet Orange Logo, which I would think was awesome. The only way to truly test your skills is going up against those that are better.

It wasn’t that we lost badly, but that kind of matchmaking shouldn’t happen as often as it does.

But you didnt loose badly. The screenshot doesnt even show the final score. I have seen pugs vs pugs loose far worse even assuming you got 0 points from that moment in your screenshot.

Concerns with Population Calculation

Then comes desolation (third spot). If we purely count the Queues (that are next to non existant, low commander prescence, low raid prescence, then it doesn’t match the ‘full server status’ we own at the moment. But I admit we are close to it. My fear is old vets who rarely/barely/sometimes play are messing the system up, making it think of desolation ‘to high’.

And yet, Desolation has 50% more points in its matchup against FSP and Gandara and has pretty much already won (currently ticking 365).

Do you think it would be more balanced if Deso got more players? Balance is far more complicated than numbers or even player hours. Single players – commanders – can turn a complete mess into PPT. Try balancing them. Impossible. Just ONE well known commander taking a break for 2 days can be the loss of a matchup in the current high tier WvW climate.

If you describe the true Deso however… its obvious its “full”, because all you got left after pointing out low commander and raid presence is coverage.

I find meta peeps amusing. Gives me a reason to even play.

In WvW, there is this guy always going on and on in TS with “big symbols? Who use that? Noooooob lolololol”. I use it because I always run my braindead zerger Guardian as full Nomad, tons of constant AoE healing so meh, who cares. I picked the trait and havent bothered changing it.

But he obviously does care. So I make it my personal task to always drop my symbol on him.

Do you have a specific enemy as example? Never seen this. On my Necro I usually gather up 10ish mobs (if there are that many) and wellbomb them in a couple of secs. They dont come back. Unless I want them too.

I think that big part of complaints regarding matchmaking is related to ignorance and inability.

This happened yesterday, and it for sure wasn’t the first time. The Matchmaking is horrible. Constantly bumping into premades as solo/duo queuers is way more annoying than the queue times.

What is the pic supposed to show? 200 vs 350 with 2 neutral points isnt too bad, especially not on that map which can be won by the lord.

A good premade doing 500 vs 50… now that would be bad.

A Mesmer has ramp up time, delayed skills and have to attack while visible (or at least, the clones are visible). Worst case scenario, clones may even die as they are being set up.

A Thief attack from stealth with instant skills, vanish and repeat the attack half a second later (or be 50m away).

TL;DR Thief wins with no contest.

I met a thief using something similar. Permastealth with traps, completely impossible to see. We where 4 people and had to unload pretty much every AoE imaginable while flailing weapons everywhere. He constantly came back trying to res a downed ally and dropping traps, I only ever heard him. Eventually though he made a mistake and it was through sheer luck we managed to immobilize him long enough to kill him.

1v1, this type of build should be completely unkillable against any target. 1v2… Probably just as unkillable.

I’d rather meet a PU condi Mesmer and a burn Guard at the same time – worst case scenario, at least you can see half of them.

Well, we got HoT coming so thats at least a couple of months of fun. After that, we probably got a winter event coming up. After that… I am guessing SAB. Seriously, how long are they going to sit on that? Or at least, hoping. This alone will hold us until next summer. If they start making new WvW seasons that would be nice.

The only foreseeable threat in the near future I know of is Black Desert Online but even then… Asian MMO are so different they usually dont draw the same crowd. All the other great games still loom in the shadows and are probably a year away.

The GW2 earnings have been falling since release through Living Worlds 1 and 2. Both, which were meant to take the place of expansions, have failed in giving the influx of money expansions bring.

Eh? GW2 earnings has been pretty stable for 2 years… And the year before that is was no surprise that it was higher, since it was release year. Compare with games like Wildstar that tanked within months, lol.

I’d like to meet the hardcore 100% WvW player that has Yakslapper today. Or one that will get it within the next 20 years.

Anet has previously admitted that the achievements are a little… off… but has never acted on it. You see, in game development its far easier to make for example a new PvP mode, completely remake trait systems, a new map, 10 new gear sets or a 10 chapter singleplayer story than it is changing a number from 1,000,000 to say 100,000. Think of the consequences, that change could break the game.

You are right which is why T8-9 peeps should move to the highest ranked available server instead. Just let low tier die already. Anet wont merge servers and no one want to go there even if its free. Players can fix this themselves. The only proper way for an exodus is up, not down.

But how would that remove the problem for WvW in general, that less people seem to play it?
Lets say a new player that does not look into a GW2 forum before, joins a T9 server because he likes the name and it is labeled as medium, which does not sound so bad, suggesting that it is not an empty wasteland, but just not filled with all kinds of people. I personally like that idea and would probably rather join a medium server called Fissure of Woe instead of a rather common sounding server named after a sea or a glade like Drakkar Lake or Aurora Glade if I did not know what medium really means.
Should he pay 1000+ gems for a mistake he did not even make because he did not know better? Does not sound like the best of advertising arguments to stay with GW2 for me.
The only help can come from GW2 itself, not a player exodus. Either change the system how people are grouped or bundle servers that are medium, so basically you would get rid of the bronze tier.

Yep, I suppose thats the kittenty situation low tiers are in. And no doubt Anet want your new player to pay 1000+ gems, yes. What else did you plan to do? Force people to play on a low pop server? Bravely hold up the illusion of a functional WvW just for new players? Anet can help by doing something, true. But so can players, right now. Move on up. Populate all the servers we can to full and leave the rest in the dust.

Who hard rezzes mid fight anyways ? OP you have been playing with bads, if they die they should be forced to do the walk of shame. In fact I think people should tombstone their own server mates for dying.

Everyone? Because thats how you win fairly equal battles, especially long ones. If a 60 vs 60 engagement happen, there will always be a large amount not engaged in active combat. Either they are running from spawn or they need a breather or they simply lagged behind the main push. As long as they keep ressing fallen people behind the main zerg and deny enemy ressing… The zerg will win. It doesnt take many people to tip the scales.

Yeah I know commanders will yell dont ress, but thats often in a one push scenario where the battle is over as soon as the enemy start fleeing. Balanced fights is different. Even when under heavy pressure, it may be worth to stack on a corpse and res before the push. The higher quality player, the more he can matter when going up. Deaths are unavoidable even if commanders like to think every player is as immortal as them.

That said, I wouldnt mind fully killed ressing only being done out of combat. At least then you can completely interrupt ressing, instead of just adding another second or two.

Salvage kit bag space

B) Make the kit in MF where you eventually need to spend gems for stones
C) Spend gems on bag slots so you can stock up on more kits

Either way, you spend gems for QoL. Just how they intended.

nerco is tanky only if they spec full bunker build with close to 0 damage but no where as tanky as guard. Reason is simple any class can easily lock us down due to lack of CC break and stability.

Close to zero damage? A bunker well Necro can accidentally kill zerkers while he is fighting and focusing other bunkers. Meh, its damage enough.

I think your looking at it wrong. Burning in general, and how it functions doesn’t need to be changed. They simply need to adjust the individual skills that apply burning with a balancing pass. I feel broad stroking a condition, how it scales, or how it stacks is a bad idea. That is kind of how it got to this point in the first place.

You’re not really looking at it right either. You can pretty much narrow down the reason lots of things are OP (including burning and stealth) to one single thing – the ability to combo your own fields.

Yep its really that simple. This has always been the case since day 1.

I dont think they will ever show us the math behind it because its probably stupid simple or way, way too complicated to understand. Either way they dont want us to know that.

If they are really smart, they would also take into account average population in the tier a server is in so that they become more “empty” as they goes up against servers with higher populations. But I doubt it. Betting on stupid simple instead.

I’m not against zerging but at a certain point it should become discouraged. 30-40 is about right in my opinion. Seen map blobs building ACs to take out groups half their size and really I don’t think that type of behaviour should be propagated over straight up fighting.

So how did you plan to “discourage” it without adding some ridiculus limitation, penalty or restriction?

Fact is, the reason GW2 WvW is popular is because we have made it our own. Players set the bar. Players play how they want to play. Nobody told us to zerg when the game launched, it happens because its the natural pack behaviour. Once you start enforcing certain ways to play the game because reasons and tell people that the way they play is wrong (I think zerging is bad and everybody should feel bad about it!), you will only make people unhappy. WvW is still very popular for a reason, zerging hasnt killed it these 3 years and it probably wont hurt it the next 3 years either.

Besides, at a certain point its already being “discouraged”. A 30 man zerg may not be able to wipe an 60 man zerg, but their time to cap is pretty much the same. 2x 30 man zergs cap more things, plain and simple. Coverage and population of course comes into play (2x 30 man is still less than 2x 60 man), but that has nothing to do with individual zerg behaviour. That is a much larger issue that need to be looked at from server and PPT scoring perspective.

1) Add another trap that costs supple to drop. Have the trap affect 50 people and either do mass damage to all 50 people in say 2000 AoE (and ignores defense). Or just simply cut 50% of their hp in half in the same AoE range.

There is already such a thing ingame. Its called an “arrowcart”. You should try it sometimes.

Lets say you have a thief, ele and necro that want to dualwield the legendary dagger. Ok, you built it and wasted 2000 gold on it. Now build 5 more, because they are all soulbound and you only get one transmuted skin to move around that character. That was what we had to work with on release.

Wasnt so bad for me since I only built one legendary back thenn, but I do remember spending 100g to dualwield a flaming sword since I had to built two of them. Now it cost pretty much nothing.

The wardrobe is far better than the old transmutation, save for one thing – items you cant salvage to get the rune/sigil back. With the old system, we could move it to another item at least.

If you ask me. You need to push your recalculate/refresh/re-something button since medium servers are now getting transfers and out numbering high status servers..

For 3 weeks now we been outnumbered by medium servers.

Same here. The server I left behind, which is presently a virtual T8 wasteland from what I’ve been told by the last few folks who stayed behind, is listed as “medium” population.

Meanwhile, it appears that at the upper tiers, the blob wars are in full swing with some servers woefully outnumbered.

Its difficult while I don’t discount JQ being full for the moment the fact is we barely get any queues any more.

Is it possible that JQ is doing a SFR and you’re just out of the mandatory logout loop?

What is up with SFR anyways, I’m from NA, but I track EU matches as well. SFR hasn’t lost in forever, and by this much is incredible too.

All they ever had was numbers and nightcappers. When they are focused by two servers intent on not letting them take advantage of either they fall easily. Their zergs have never been able to match the quality of other servers 1 for 1 in my experience.

Or maybe they just arent trying anymore, I dont know.

Really anet created this problem when they limited AoE damage to 5 enemies.

Except that the reason zerging is so strong is because of the unlimited incoming AoE damage. That’s why zerg AoE bombing is effective. The limited outgoing AoE damage (what you are talking about) is a minor factor, most of the time you’ll barely be hitting 5 people even if its in the middle of a zerg.

Necro.

If you can stomach roaming with it, its the strongest anti-condi profession due to multiple condi transfers, lots of cleansing and a 40K+ eqvivalent hp pool. Condi guardians going up against a clever Necro can kill themselves and several of their friends, lol.

I wonder how many people would be interested in good decent build-in VR support. As those also require DX11 or preferably DX12.

The VR Api of Oculus and that of Nvidia do not support DX9.

That does not mean you can’t have any support VR in DX9, you can, but for really good native support you do need the upgrade.

Good VR support in GW2 could be amazing (when implemented well) and adding a complete new, more immersive experience to the game, and good support could be a good selling-point.

Immersive as in you are going to womit every time you dodge.

VR equipment is only good for 1st person games thats been designed for VR. GW2 is not one of those games.

Turning on friendly fire remain by far the best – and most hilarious – idea.

Come on. It will be glorious.

This idea is terrible because it will garentee not melee fighting and extremely promote nothing but exclusively having a pirate ship style of combat.

Your argument is irrelevant, it would still be glorious.
