I somehow find it amusing that you thought 10K gems for finishers was ok – even if they all had gone away forever – but now its suddenly not ok anymore. Yeah… about that… 10K was never ok to begin with. Its absolutely ridiculous for silly finishers. Dont buy things from the gemstore. If you have that amount of gems to spend on what I will assume is a quest to get everything in the game, then you shouldnt have any regrets no matter the cost.
Anets trend of screwing with us should be noticable by now as well.
What other kind of use does the druid have? Backline dps? Usefull skills that counter the enemy zerg? Unless healing scale amazingly while the druid has dps gear, he’ll have no damage.
A nomad guardian also does pathetic damage sure, but he can heal for maybe 15-20K hp AoE every 20s or so and be a frontline punching bag with stability and reflect.
He definetly wont replace an elementalist, that’s a given.
The druid has to be pretty kitten good to be better than bringing either class. But then again people still bring rangers to zerg with… maybe now they can actually be usefull too.
Hey I will assume that its a new feature :p
Really, all you are doing is pushing your monthly up by X amount of days, as many as you got characters. Some people with a ton of characters get alot of bags, others get quite few. You cant repeat it, or create new characters for it afaik. All Anet need to do is fix it.
I would be more afraid not to open them, if I recall correctly the last time it bugged out you had to open them or it wouldnt appear the next day because you hadnt opened the previous day (which was now of course no longer possible to open).
they’re probably under a DDoS atm…
Yes, by users trying to patch the game…
Unlikely, GW2 has massive patches every other week that’s not brought it down. This isnt slow servers.
Strange this is according to gw2status.de everything but one asset server is up… It looked far worse the last time GW2 was down (then half the servers was offline).
Yep, cant login. The forum is incredibly sluggish again.
Hope its not that Telia hub that’s kittened up again…
maybe they should just add a dueling buff on wvw that only allows you interact and do damage to others players with the same buff. but that might and issue too because it might take the focus away from what wvw is mean’t for, team play
New meta will be 10 peeps with dueling buff rushing ahead of the zerg to make enemy zergs drop their entire AoE bomb on them and do zero damage. Woopwoop!
Wait a second…
If 10 peeps have the buff and 10 enemies also have the buff, that means they can still hit each other. That simply wont do, that’s not dueling!
We need 10 different buffs. And pray that people dont bring 15 peeps instead.
Oh yeah, now instead of boss’s dieing in 1 minute it might even take 2
Or still 1 minute, since people will use something else thats just as broken.
All they need to do is break up the scoring into zones, that way no zone can go overboard and run away with the total score, you will no longer have to worry about servers that have a too much of ocx or sea or eu that stack 10k in score every day run away with the matchup.
Zone 1 – 9 pm est(when reset starts) to 3 am est.
Zone 2 – 3 am – 9 am est.
Zone 3 – 9 am – 3pm est.
Zone 4 – 3pm – 9pm est.You run the same PPT scoring system and add PPK as well, reset the points at the end of the zone time.
You won’t have to run any type of weakening effect (penalties), on populations or scores or gameplay.
The server that wins a zone gets 1 overall point.
At the end of the week the server with the most overall points wins.
The actual overall score will be tighter and easier to catch throughout the week. And for those who don’t know much about the time zones, here’s a list of what’s covered in the Zones.
OCX Prime time(8pm) for New Zealand is around 4am est.
OCX Prime time(8pm) for East Australia is around 6am est.
SEA Prime time(8pm) for places like West Australia to like Hong Kong areas is around 8am est.
SEA to Russia will run to about 1pm est.
EU takes over from 1pm est.
EU Prime time(8pm) for England is around 3pm est, as an example.
Early NA is basically 6-8pm est.
East NA Prime is 8-11am est.
PST NA Prime is 12-3am est.P.S This scoring system basically amounts to running a sports league like soccer or hockey, where you play games, doesn’t matter up what the score ends being for the game you still only get 2 or 3 points for winning. Same with the zones you will only get 1 point for winning.
It can be expanded to 3, 2, 1 overall points awarded system as well, but would result in more points given out and bigger margin in score as the week progresses.
We’ve gone through a million ideas with real life timezones and it doesnt work, period. You will only end up overcomplicating matters if you try to tie it to a 24h clock (who uses 12h anyway, that’s like 1 country in the entire world).
WvW need its own “timezone” based on its current population. Ie “nighttime” (when PPT tick less) is whenever WvW is at low activity.
4. Dial down NPC damage and cc. I think NPCs should serve only one purpose, scouting.
I agree with limiting NPC damage, as this is not PvE. But they are not strong at all, so I do not see a need to dial down, but just not adding to it is fine.
Not only do I not see a need to dial it down, I dont even understand the complaint. A single player can take any tier camp. If 20 peeps cap a keep, the lord goes down in about 5 seconds. When people get killed, we laugh at them because its so hilarious.
Either the OP must be using an upscale and have trouble with the daze that sentries does or he’s running in EoTM where half the zerg get killed because an NPC sneezed in their general direction.
Minion master, dagger/whatever, go for it. You can solo two champs at once. Minions tank, you spank.
If you want to know the more technical reason why this is vastly superior to anything else in PvE, its quite simple. You have dagger for the dps and 25% speed. Minions keep any target perma-crippled. Nothing more to it.
(edited by Dawdler.8521)
1. Remove loot completely to discourage anything PvE releated. When did playing part of a game become less important than farming loot. Is this work or play. Do PvE if you want more gear or legendaries.
When WvW became the only game mode that cost you a mteric ton of gold every night and force you to have multiple builds with multiple gear over all classes.
Since no one ever seems to be able to define a GW2 healer, how come people say with such certainty that there arent any?
Personally I would say that a GW2 “healer” is any build that is specced to heal someone else more than average heal skill without actually using their own heal, around maybe 5000hp/20s.
which means….
Pretty much anyone can be a healer with gear and traits.
Guardian for example go from 80hps (self) to 250hps (AoE) on a single passive skill. Thats 5000hp/20s alone. Add other things (dodging, elite, regen, staff, symbols) and you are probably around 20,000hp/20s to 5 peeps. Is that not a healer?
The problem isnt the heals. You can be a healer in GW2. But you will also drop to 1/8th the dps of a zerker for “only” 2x healing. That is the problem.
(edited by Dawdler.8521)
Well, none of that is factually true, but you state it with a nice level of aver. Your confusing your subjective opinion, with that of objective fact.
So you are saying that 60 people fighting 120 people (all 3 servers duke it out, just for the fun of it) in an enemy garrison for 3 hours of constant battle only to finally cap it, is completely equal to 3 people taking 3 Omega golems and capping it in 10 minutes with absolutely no one defending?
I honestly dont think so. Offtime PPT is most definetly overvalued. Simplest idea is to just devalue it:
Check Every Hour
If WvW_Population <= 33% set WvW_Scoring to 50% and WvW_Lighting to “WvW_Nighttime”
If WvW_Population > 33% set WvW_Scoring to 100% and WvW_Lighting to “WvW_Daytime”
Simple solution – WvW has its own nighttime, which is based on population. But I doubt we will ever see any fix for this from Anet.
I run a PU Mesmer condi build. It is not invincible in 1v1, you can still die.
A condi burn engi defeated me fairly easily. The engi’s aoe was so effective, my clones were just tickling him. Rather than running away, which I could of with all the new stealth, I stuck it out, got worn down and lost.
I also died to a nasty condi necro once. Signet of power just melted my hp so fast, I had no chance. I dropped in like 4 seconds.
On a side note, I notice that many of the players starting these threads to bash the new PU Mesmer always introduce themselves as a Thief. Go figure…
So basicly, you’re saying that a condi PU mesmer isnt immortal. He can easily be killed by condi engineers (probably dire) and condi necros (probably dire too).
Yes, that sure makes this argument about… uh… conditions being strong… easier to understand.
But you are right of course. Condi thieves and condi mesmers are countered by condi anything else (especially condi mesmers and condi thieves). That’s part of the reason why stealth in combination with conditions is so aggravating. Because you cant see your opponent 70-100% of the time, you have to rely on damage over time – ie condi ticks. Direct damage will in no way suffice to kill them in the short time they are visible, they’ll just increase stealth to damage ratio until they can heal and pop up again. Thieves have full control over this, but little damage when stealthed. Mesmers have less control over this, but far more damage when stealthed. Either way is kitten and it pushes every other class to condi just as much.
TL;DR
Condis. Condis everywhere.
(edited by Dawdler.8521)
The only real problem with the rifle is that it doesnt have 1500 range. Give it that and it would serve a purpose in WvW.
You would only have that opinion if you haven’t commanded much or ran guild raids in WvW. Commanders already communicate on comms, they don’t need to see pin movements on the map. Also the ability to see with a glance how many people you have, what classes, the number of supplies, and the hp of your raid is godsend.
Uh, if you havent join squads much you’d know that I was talking about the members in the squad not seeing tag movements. Because that’s what happen when you join a squad at the moment – you loose all sight of everyone else on the map. You cant even tell your commander on TS “oh there is a guild coming, hold on!” when he is fighting and yelling and far busy to read whispers on where others are.
But maybe they fixed that, I dont know.
Being able to drag & move people around to form groups will shave quite a lot of setup time when running guild raids. It’ll allow for better group composition, making sure your necros have stab, that warriors are in proper frontline groups, that pick classes are in a pick team, etc..
How does it make sure that? I will assume that commanders cannot override party composition.I dont want anyone fidgeting with my party if I’m running with friends. For guilds, sure this may be added “control” over their groups but for pug zergs it would suck.
Also being able to close the squad off so you can run guild-only raids is also very attractive for those guild nights. These are all great UI enhancements, what’s not to like?
Well except it will change absolutely nothing. People can still follow a guild group as long as they can see them. We had “closed” raids before the color system was made and it was pretty kitten for coordination. That’s exactly why we wanted the colored tags – so we could show them.
I’m sure there are lots of things to like, I just dont see the point. Just about 100% of current complaints with the commander system could be solved if you increased range of /supplyinfo. Most commanders I know can “organize” their zerg in 30 seconds by simply asking melee to stack left and ranged to stack right. Then you know how to push.
(edited by Dawdler.8521)
Sort of interesting and yet… so very, very pointless. This is all about improving something that we never, ever use. And we probably still wont use it if joining a raid means all other tags become hidden, because coordination over the battlefield is critical – you need to see those other tags. All people in the pug zerg need to see other tags, so that they can help their own commander.
But I suppose if it allow commanders to better organize their groups it isnt all bad.
Forcing? Uhm… If we assume two equal teams – or unequal for that matter – there is a 50% chance you will win and a 50% chance you will loose. Which means that the average over time will be just that, 50%.
Its hard to avoid basic math. People that doesnt approach this is doing things to avoid it. Like the pics above. Its not suspicious at all with 80% winrate in custom arenas and close to 50% in any normal matchup. Nope, not at all.
Except when the matchmaking system isn’t flipping a coin but rather a complicated algo that can be admittedly broken.
Which still wont change the fact that the average will gravitate towards 50%.
If its broken, it will be broken on both sides but the 50% remain – sometimes you end up in the team that roflstomps the opponent, sometimes you end up in the team that is roflstomped.
Sure the matchmaking could be better. But loosing 8 times in a row is just bad luck. I bet the OP still has around 50% winratio. Because he’s probably won 8 or so times in a row too. A couple of days ago, I won 4 matches in a row (the only 4 I played that day, 100% win ratio w00t!). Yesterday, I lost 3 matches in a row and won the 4th by literally the skin on my chin (I held center vs 2 enemies, they got it down to 20% cap and we won with 500 vs 498 or something haha).
Wait, why does anyone need a 100g to WvW?
Grab supply. Build when told. Hope your zerg is bigger than theirs.
Sounds affordable to me.
Lol, that’s like saying why does the US Army need any money? They already got their tanks and planes and ships, they can just grab their weapons and go to war when told.
If that sounds affordable to you, that’s you being a textbook leecher.
lol….into pve..
I can say I spend as much time in PvE, as it takes my character to LOAD into the Map from log in screen and port to a wvw map. (Sooooo 5-10seconds worth of pve I guess.)
So what are you doing the 5 minutes WvW is closed for reset? Secret private WvW server?
Simple answer: just leave the guild. There are plenty of guilds to go around. Sticking to your friends will be more fun in the long run. Personally I prefer guilds that run with the core/allied concept.
Be sure to do a complete reset every once in a while
What? You shouldn’t have to do this unless you manage to corrupt your install.
“You” in this case being Anet. GW2 patching isnt flawless. It can still mess up, as evidenced by todays patch. This is a known fix that is often brought up on this forum, its nothing magical I just came up with. Resetting it can fix a whole slew of odd errors.
Its possible that only deleting the temp dat and settings work too, but I prefer a full reset when I’m not limited by bandwitdh.
(edited by Dawdler.8521)
Unless this beta include seperate build templates for conquest and stronghold, I am not really interested anyway. Too much of a hazzle to change builds everytime a random stronghold pop up.
The fact that guilds recruit over multiple servers then want to WvW with one another and can’t wvw with everyone, is the same as it has been since Beta’s.
Uh, no. Before the megaservers existed, guilds recruited people on their own server. WvW wasnt a problem then. Now, I see tons of guilds recruiting in PvE without even saying the server they are on. New players will see this long before they join WvW and think its normal… only to find out they are on another server.
Also, the OP is a horrible idea. It wouldnt work. Everyone playing on 5 different WvW servers at any time? Yeah… no. If you want a server to win, just have those 500 that repped Deso last week rep SFR this week. GG.
(edited by Dawdler.8521)
The intent of your comment is quite sinister.
Sinister? There is nothing sinister about probability. A player make up 20% of the team, which can matter in individual matchups, but again over time the other 80% that you have no control over will dominate the deciding factor. Which is win or loose. Two states, no more no less. 50/50. You are not in control of your win ratio… Unless you start controlling the other players or play in custom arenas. But I assume we are talking random matchups.
This is neither a bad or sinister thing, its perfectly normal.
Be sure to do a complete reset every once in a while
Just today, I logged on as normal, it did a quick patch, I joined my Necro that I left in Lornars yesterday and… 15 fps. Pretty much framelocked. Stare into the sky, 15 fps. Stare into the ground, 15 fps. Teleport to another zone, fps was still down the drain. As a note, I have a GTX980Ti OC so its not that bad.
So…
- Delete GW2.dat (that big 20gb+ file in your GW2 folder)
- Delete the GW2 folder in appdata/roaming (this is where your settings and temp file is stored)
Launch the game and it download again… Better set aside some time because its going to take a while. Be sure to reconfigure to your normal settings, keybinds etc.
So just now when I logged back on, fixed my old settings, my fps went from 15fps to 60fps (frame locked at 60fps, I like it like that). Its not the first time this happens…

Anime themed human female elementalist/mesmers hurt my eyes.
Odd things? Well there’s this:
The Admiral Taidha Covington.
Sure, the rank and all that stuff is pretty and no doubt she’s a skilled and fearsome individual. But tell me why it takes so many sword slashes, bullets, explosives and meteor showers to kill a human? I sometimes realize it mid fight, it’s… egh.
Her gate is also impervious to magic and melee attacks, except for random barrels of explosive because reasons. Not sure why we’re not using materials from that gate to build forts out of in the Silverwastes. Modremoth’s minions won’t stand a chance.
Yeah, just think. If she hadn’t left those barrels out there, she’d be safe. Foiled by poor organisation.
Well, ignoring the ship of the line bombarding the gate.
GW2 allow you to change settings on the fly and you can see your fps at the same time. Just stand in a zone and change it around.
If you have a good enough graphics card from the last 3 years, FXAA/SMAA high/SMAA low or none for that matter makes absolutely zero difference to fps because GW2 is completely CPU bound.
THOUGH , they could make it easier for us to find the commander by having a always on top function….because eventhough you have the target commander thing , it sill happens that you sometimes lose the dorito
They could but then again it took two years or so to provide us with a dorito in different colors.
So I am guessing it will take about 10 years for them to change the render priority of it compared to the nametags. Start holding your breath.
Yes, I can imagine the troubles of seeing what to attack when the commander and 50 people are stacked on top of the wurm covering your entire view.
WvWers found the way around this long ago – target the commander so he sticks out even more in the zerg by having a tag on top of his tag.
Matchmaking is always trying to make 50/50 matches. There is no active streak-prevention built into matchmaking other than the fact that your MMR adjusts each game. Since you’ve been playing so much, your MMR is ‘certain’ and changes slowly. It has certainly adjusted over the course of the weekend, though.
I suggest watching your game history via a site like http://gw2efficiency.com/account/pvp that uses our new PvP API. This way you know exactly what streaks you’re on.
Edit: Both your streaks were when you played Engineer, which has a lower profession MMR than your account and other professions. Looks like you win more often on Thief
The flaw in this is pinballing MMR/games.
MMR should never try to force a 50% winrate, that will happen in time as your MMR rises.
Forcing? Uhm… If we assume two equal teams – or unequal for that matter – there is a 50% chance you will win and a 50% chance you will loose. Which means that the average over time will be just that, 50%.

In my experience minions work poorly in PvP nowadays, too much AoE condi. Well bunker is much better for bombing a point.
But anyway, I suppose one can give it a try. Personally I would swap minions and bunker up in that tree (shrouded, reapers, unholy) while swapping terror for corruption and using more corruption skills. But then again I never played corruption in PvP either lol.
If you play open world PvE like silver wastes, alyways run epidemic, no matter what build.
Epidemic is the strongest spell in the entire game in a situation where you have big enemies and a lot of small fry around. The bigger the enemy the bigger the bleed/burn stacks.
Just copy a 200+ bleed and burn stack from a champ on a bunch of veterans in silver wastes, it’s bonkers. And the best thing is, it doesn’t matter what stats or build you run, epidemic is always worth it. Enjoy it before it gets nerfed into oblivion.
I am curious how you solo 200+ bleed stacks. Last time I checked, that required an entire zerg, in which case the enemies around die from cleave just by looking at the zerg.
Anyway, in my experience MM beat out wells in solo PvE. You can take on champions, you can solo dungeons, do pretty much whatever you want. Wells arent bad, but that downtime between them is a problem. For MM, mobs are easily distracted by them. You can take on 20 mobs at once and still win the so-called “fight”.
Not to mention, MM looks the coolest when running around.
Expenses in pve are trivial. Map travel is about it. Everything else is by choice. You don’t have to gear all ascended. Exotics are easy and cheap to get. My pve armor is 99% through pvp reward tracks. There is no armor repair cost. Using that as an excuse as to why pve gets more gold is ridiculous.
So who even cares about PvE? PvE expenses is negligable as well. No matter what you do, you will always get more gold than you spend.
WvW is the benchmark, where you can spend 10 gold every night for a week and still not win the matchup.
I’d like to see sPvP introduce a 10 gold entrance fee per match. If you win, you get 5 gold back. If you loose, you get 2 gold back.
Sounds reasonable, yes?
They could had done it like this and they didn’t.
In fact i never played a game which is so human biased like this one.
in tera however human is my least favored race.
I use to chose magic races in games but
i play here only asura and human because the rest is so boring.Tera and its playerbase is so kittening creepy…
I’m not sure where Tera came into it, that’s an ArcheAge character creation. Here was the best I could do there to avoid the human-with-cat-edges there:
Argh, please dont post pictures of those baby-faced abominations. If you thought GW2 humans was bad, that’s nothing compared to Archeage Firrans. They where literally changed to please two groups – teen girls thinking its adorable and grown men thinking… uh… its adorable. The original concept that was much more catlike was a million times better.
Even the pet has the Anet icon. That’s adorable.
I believe George is the WvW lead developer.
It would explain alot of things.
Centaurs, pfff… Human voices is just silly. I am more uneasy by the obvious sexual inuendos of a Charr female. Once you hear it, it cannot be unheard.
Nothing toxic about that, I think it’s a perfectly fine suggestion. It benefits the community by reducing LFG clutter without restricting peoples’ choices, there’s nothing to complain about there.
Yes, because we all know that chat trade channels have been extremely successful in every game that has it, everyone always use the trade channels and leave the general map/say/whatever chats to real communication, never producing any clutter.
He will return. But you may not like what he has become…
… is what I would say if the story made any sense whatsoever.
In a later mission you are suddenly faced with an unknown enemy, much smarter than your average risen. He even sets a trap for you. Almost as if he knows your tactics. Almost as if he knows you.
But Anet totally kittened up the opportunity and made him a generic boss for no apparent reason, even though he is named.
if you want gold, go farm it where its meant to be farmed.
Indeed. This whole argument is kind of silly.
Poor gold income for PvP… Hahaha. Yeah? So what? What’s your expense while playing PvP? Oh that’s right, absolutely nothing. No armor repair, no siege purchase, no food purchase, no armor costs, no rune costs, no sigil costs, absolutely no costs.
Poor thing.
I dunno what the experience on your server is, but on mine, the only condition aspect that is predominant, is roaming.
Did people ever use double sigils anywhere else as meta, other than to gank (most commonly using Thief)? This is the reason why I said in areas where these sigils really mattered.
(edited by Dawdler.8521)
automatic downgrades of objectives
Otherwise known as “capping an objective”.
What, you want the game to play itself?
@MinerBob.5312: Klepto yaks are known to exist. Hostile yaks try to break through keep doors every so often, presumably to grab some booty inside (why else would they be so intent on taking down the door if not promised booty?).
(edited by Dawdler.8521)
Seeing as the meta has heavily shifted toward conditions in areas where these sigils really mattered, them being worth it is relative. Air IMO has always been pointless. Fire is still good, in particular for long range main weapons (such as necro staff).
i kinda felt the same, i played like 30 hours and had my exotic gear, it was the strongest one atm, i just moved to another mmo, since gw2 clearly wasnt for me. Now i play pvp sometimes, because i dont always have time to play a match of dota. I also moved to another mmos, but still, playing 3 hours day, none takes more than 2 months to get the best gear available.
But the mistake with that is that GW2 isnt about the best gear available. It never has been. Its as logical as saying DoTA/HoTS/LoL is all about the gear grind.
The endgame in GW2 is WvW and sPvP. PvE is a sidequest.
The only thing glicko is missing is high/low hardcaps within each tier. That will eliminate “stuck” servers and be a reasonable compromise between current glicko and up/down system. Even if the number 1 server win 20 matchups in a row, a few losses should cause a movement, instead of those matchups making it untouchable for a long, long time… And of course the same in reverse for the last server.
While it may not be its intended use for the lfg, tbh I dont see it as a big problem anymore. Obviously there is a market here, players are willing to buy. Anet could probably stop it by changing dungeon mechanics, but why would they want to? Even dungeon buyers play the game and thats all that matter.
If it had any impact on other people, such as getting super OP gear, I would be totally against it. But it doesnt, so meh.
Even though I don’t have problems fighting those PU scrubs (it just takes some time), I never understood why they kept the extra stealth duration at 100%. Every sane person that watched the specialization livestream knew that it is too much. It also promotes a boring ‘jump in and out of stealth’ play style, which is not mesmer-like at all. As far as I know, mesmers in Guild Wars 1 did not have any stealth.
Nobody understands. Seriously, I dont think anyone do. How could they? The Mesmer prepatch was already one of the strongest duelers, with PU being a strong and given trait for anyone that was based on stealth. Then they ramped it up to be twice as strong. Literally. It made zero sense whatsoever and we _knew it would make us hate stealth once again. Personally I think someone at Anet secretely main a Mesmer, managed to push through this change without anyone really noticing it and is now loving every second of it.
Solution #1
- Delete top servers, spread them out on lower tiers and make everyone unhappy and angry by moving them from functional to disfunctional WvW.
Solution #2
- Delete bottom servers, spread them out on higher tiers and make everyone happy by moving them from disfunctional WvW to functional WvW.
This is a really really really tough choice for us, clearly.
