World completion is the worst.

I did it all wrong lol. It was the last thing I needed, so I went from around 40% to 100% in 5 days. Brutal. 100 hours is just an estimate it might’ve been around 80. The worst by far was an area in the shiverpeak mountains, with I think 43 POIs. I took 4 hours in that one zone.

Yes, you did it all wrong. Then why complain about it, lol?

World completion is meant to be something you do as you go about your buisness in the world. 1% in a half hour there, maybe finishing that last half of a zone before joining WvW, farm materials and do some hearts on the way or taking some waypoints on the way to a guild mission. It adds up fast.

Everyone can speedrun but its rarely the most enjoyable way to do things.

Siege arrow-carts... you gone f'ed it up

But really, this is a game design… oversight… I would say. Asuran size sliders should have been somewhere between just below max size and just above max size on the other end. A max size Asura is about the size of a small human, which should have universally been about the smallest player size allowed in the game. But instead, they allow the small size Asura to be tiny.

Well, the idea is good, but… it would really take a big dump on the way WvW is currently organized in the community.

Scouts play a major part in the strategy of a server, informing borderhops, community guilds and just plain sticking around to defend. We will already see automated upgrading with HoT, do we really need automated scouting as well?

Just saying.

If Anet really wanted to spread the word on WvW and “alert” people that its actually part of the game, they could have a WvW event every other weekend (ie mf, karma boons). But nope, they only do that to sPvP.

Power thief or power mesmer.

Having one stealth build (condi or power, doesnt matter) assume that the other part of a duo need to be stealth as well. Otherwise the other player will be a constant target and fights become uneven.

Having one guy be condi and the other power is how you lock down players completely. No class can counter both at the same time and still perform offensivly. The condi just dumps 10+ different condis on target while the power keep up pressure. Impossible to defend against. If both are condi or power its a much higher chance they meet combos that counter it.

The problem to me is just how much of a lead a server can get by “night capping” that it carries an otherwise terribly performing server much further than it really should. Having time blocks where ppt/ppk score is generated then giving out points based on 1st, 2nd or 3rd would solve this especially if the ppt/ppk score was reset at the start of each block.

But how would that change the coverage/nightcap issues? One server dominating the other 2 during low pop times would still win all those “ppt/ppk blocks”, no matter how many you made per day.

The only way that would change the issue is if the amount of points each block gets is linked to activity. Which really goes back to an even simpler idea – reduce ppt based on activity.

Yeah, have you calculated that healing out? I think you will be sadly disappointed if you do. Druid has way better uptime and reapplication of Regeneration, you can’t even compare those. I really like to play my Cleric Mace/Staff Guard, I’ve defended it for a long time, but Druid does so much more healing and condition removal, its not even remotely close. I won’t be playing Cleric Guard anymore. All the healing from guard Mace with all healing traits, gear, runes and food, with 5 people standing in a symbol, it heals for 18 health per second more than Healing Spring by itself. Guard is better off sticking to Blinds and Boons with some off-healing.

I am pretty bad at calculating and cant do it at the moment (at work), but I also question your numbers. You have HS base healing allies (which it doesnt) and regeneration ticking at nearly 1000hp/s… which doesnt happen unless you have around 4000 healing power. Unless of course HS apply some 40 seconds of regen, which would be neat (I honestly never even play ranger, let alone druid).

The regeneration is ticking for 337 base, times by 1.525 for the +% outgoing healing. HS applies 36s of Regen on 24s CD. When traited and with boon duration.

I’m fairly certain that HS is bugged atm because it has healed allies since launch and that would be an insane nerf. This is how it should be.

Have you tested it in practice? Just curious, I sure havent.

I did a quick test in mists (dwayna runes, cleric amulet) and I admit I was at least partially wrong, lol. It apply about one minute and 20 seconds of regeneration on yourself. That’s actually pretty neat. But when I tried on an another player, it didnt stack in intervals and only added 9s of regen. Either I am doing something wrong or the pulse only remove conditions (which is only 5 conditions btw, 1 every 2 second, not 30).

Also I am fairly sure that no heal on any class has ever healed other players for the base heal. That would be insanely OP.

Beta Weekend: Enhanced Squad UI

Alot of times players won’t even know how to join or access a squad, especially those new to game. Why not encourage team play? And have the squad UI show up when they join a WvW map", the commander can then use the squad interface to arrange them accordingly for organized play…(concept screenshot attached).

Thats a great idea, but I dont know how successful it would be. I mean look at how many people fail to grasp the concept of the ready button when joining in sPvP, lol. And thats just one button.

What other kind of use does the druid have? Backline dps? Usefull skills that counter the enemy zerg? Unless healing scale amazingly while the druid has dps gear, he’ll have no damage.

A nomad guardian also does pathetic damage sure, but he can heal for maybe 15-20K hp AoE every 20s or so and be a frontline punching bag with stability and reflect.

He definetly wont replace an elementalist, that’s a given.

The druid has to be pretty kitten good to be better than bringing either class. But then again people still bring rangers to zerg with… maybe now they can actually be usefull too.

Cleric specced Druid can heal 150,000 health just from Healing Spring. This is assuming 5 people inside the area over the 12s duration to get the Regeneration. But not hard if you drop it in the frontline. Also removes 30 conditions at the same time and its a 10s Water field. On a 24s CD.

Cultivated Synergy, Trappers Expertise, 45% boon duration, 1650 healing power, Natural Mender/Monk Runes/Delicious Rice Balls/Benevolence Sigil= +52.5% heals.

HS heal = 6577
Cultivated Synergy = 1331 × 2
Regeneration = 12,132
Times by 1.525
Total = 32,590
Total for 5 people = 162,953

All good and well, except a guardian will passive heal, have 100% uptime of AoE regeneration via mace and optional heal with the symbol itself. Thats with no cooldown. Ie more healing than druid HS.

But granted, condi removal doesnt come close.

Wonder if ANet would change the Weekly Reset to an every 3 Hour Reset?

This would do nothing to discourage the Population Imbalance of Server Stacking…which could be the source behind Night Capping problems.

I still firmly believe the base WvW Map Mechanic needs to be changed.

However, it would provide a band aid response to people crying foul on Night Capping by changing the feedback timeframe on who is winning & loosing from a Weekly period…to 3 hours.

People finding their whole map flipped…can feel better knowing that they’re starting a New Timeframe on who is winning…so it makes sense to start all over again & recap things from scratch.

There…problem solved.

The problem with that IMO is that it would water down WvW to just being a longer sPvP match. As it is now, “winning” may not matter to much but you can still feel the result, the excitement of working toward it. If we had 8 matches everyday, I think so many people would just go “meh this is lost, I’ll afk to the next round”. At least now we dont see that until thursday/friday, heh. This would be a fine hybrid gamemode idea between WvW and sPvP though (say 50vs50vs50 1 hour fights on a map the size of a zone).

You continue to argue from a point of dishonesty by repeatedly presenting no actual discussion, and using extreme hyperbole in scenarios as your arguments.

Oh? I am trying to argue my idea while people like you resort to arguing me using fancy English instead counter-arguing the idea, other than saying it punish players – which I still fail to see that it does. With the current system, we already see servers with low PPT and I am fairly certain that the players on these servers feel more punished than the ones on the other servers with high PPT. A percentage change in this due to few being online wouldnt change where they are in terms of relative PPT, it would just flatten the wild curves we are seeing due to coverage.

If you want a down to earth common and exactly equal scenario other than population scaling, how about this:

At 17:00, there are 300 players currently online in WvW. Player A solo cap an undefended keep because he’s just that cool.
Server PPT is 300/160/240 (max PPT is 700 due to population being “high”).

At 17:00 the next day, there are 10 players online in WvW. Player A solo cap another undefended keep because he’s still that cool. Due to planets aligning, the relative PPT is the exact same as yesterday.
Server PPT is 150/80/120 (max PPT is 350 due to population being “low”).

Question: Is player A being punished compared to his activites the previous day? And if so, how?

Roaming, ~ beating a dead horse

Solo roaming isnt counterproductive, its just not as productive as 2-5 manning it. Even just 2 players mean that 90% of solo enemy players will port, instead of having a chance to match or kill you. Either way, roaming is better than no roaming

I would argue that the effort of taking an undefended keep with 4 Omega golems in 5 minutes is worth less than spending 2 hours draining supplies, killing siege and just generally trying to get in a keep defended by 60 people, 10 arrowcarts, 4 trebs, 2 catapults and that one guy spamming emotes all the time.

But what do I know, nothing I guess.

If you desire to discuss issues with siege, please make a separate thread for that.

The taking of a keep is the fault of the defending community. It seems irrational to me to justify punishing players for taking a keep, simply because no one arrived to defend it.

Geez, talk about reading only what you want to read. I was comparing the effort to cap a defended keep compared to nightcapping empty keep. You said it was worth the same, I say not really. And you had to single out siege to respond to, lol.

You also seem to be intent on calling PPT equalization based on population a punishment. How is the servers being punished? All of them will score lower PPT at that point in time. The reduction is an equal percentage drop for the 3 sides. And the nightcap crew know perfectly well wtf they are doing, capping easy undefended keeps just to exploit PPT when no one is around.

Ooooooh but that is a druid problem, not a support/heal issue. In WvW, nobody will care about them, just like nobody care about Rangers. If you cant frontline or you cant AoE stun/dps, you are useless. The others can do that and heal.

Nomad Guardian still get a metric ton of loot while healing like a champ (not that you even need to run nomad to heal. Elementalist can run full zerker and tag people by just looking at them, while putting down fields for the entire zerg.

Indeed. That is part of the problem as I see it. Some posters seem to make the inaccurate assuption that what they see in their tier is what happens to everyone. There are what, 70 servers after the China release? So why posters think thier experience with 3, 6, or even 9 servers, come close to representing all servers, is beyond me.

It doesn’t really matter that it’s only a problem in some tiers and not in all. The solution that was suggested to scale the tick based on active population means that the points are in relation to the amount of players that participate, so if your tier has coverage for all time zones it will hardly influence you, while solving a big problem for other tiers.

Indeed, scaling PPT based on population have nothing to do with timezones. Timezones are irrelevant. I fail to see why people keep bringing it up.

the thing is, i don’t think this is so easy to solve, since you can’t forbid people to play in their free-time, just because their opponent is at work or asleep at that time.

Well, it both is and it isnt. You can think of a million different scoring ideas involving long algorithms and pages of rules or you could simply scale PPT based on current/total population. If servers score 100/100/100 because population is considered “low” and 200/200/200 when above “low”, I fail to see how its unfair to anyone. All it does is equalize PPT so that 1 hour of activity give the same points as 2 hours of inactivity.

And with the exact same argument, such a small percentage of players should never outweigh the other 95% of the players. Why should the PPT worth of 10 players completely unopposed equal that of 200 players fighting same numbers?

Any evidence to support your claim that is a small percentage of players? My experience suggest that the larger player count logs in through those times, only it is more spread out so that less are on at any one given moment.

US or EU? EU is much tighter in what primetime is (even on T1/T2), during a normal weekday all 3 borders can be completely empty in the night (or until 18:00 for that matter). The only thing running around is often a single borderhop commander. Hell it even varies by server, FR servers come out of hiding for primetime an hour later than everyone else for some reason.

For US, I can imagine its more spread out, with all the timezones.

Do I think that ressing in combat is tad too easy and too fast? Yes I do think that. Do I think it should go away? Nope. Because it still create, maintain and prolong fights.

People in WvW are strange sometimes. On the one hand, everyone is yelling PPT noobs, real men fight. On the other hand, they often seem to want to take all the joy out of fighting and make easier to completely wipe groups because… reasons, I guess? When those 10 hardcore super mega souped up elite specced people roll over 50 noob zergers with ease due to half a dozen new rules on the battlefield that says you’re not allowed to zerg, how long do you think it will be before those 50 become 40… or 30… or 20… until said hardcore group start whining that they have no one to fight.

Sometimes ressing kitten us up. I know. Been there a thousand times. But looking back at these 3 years… Doesnt GW2 combat still work? Just saying. Because going by Anets finetuning of WvW, these suggestion will only lead to arrowcarts getting 50% more damage. Dont ask why. It just will.

Us “older” players (thanks) loose nothing. GW2 going f2p doesnt affect anyone that bought the game on release, we havent lost anything. There are players with 6000+ hours kitten . Are you saying they didnt get their moneys worth because GW2 went f2p? Lol.

The only ones that got put in a bad spot are the ones that bought a boxed copy of GW2 after HoT was up for preorder and before GW2 went f2p. They should have just bought HoT instead. But even so, hopefully they got full GW2 cheap. Those that bought GW2 just before HoT was in a bad spot too, but we didnt even know about f2p then so that doesnt matter to this specific discussion.

Either way, GW2 f2p is f2p done right. After this beta weekend, I dont question that HoT will pretty much be p2w because normal classes cant compete with elite specs, but still the limitations is just right. No kittenty things like only level 20 (like WoW) or pretty much be 24/7 online to be able to open a couple of lootbags (like Archeage). I cant find anything that Anet went full kitten on. Not that they dont have the capability to go full kitten – they just choose not to in this instance.

Yes they can lol. I have no idea how they do it – I havent played them. But I have seen druid insta-kill people from full HP. Its some type of pulse attack that does 4K damage each. But hey at least its balanced by 30K killshots, hah!

The beta weekend gave me a real feel of p2w… You’re going to need HoT to compete, no question about it.

But Anet wont spend the time of course. Its never been about the way they coded it – they can easily recode it if they want to. Its the fact they want you to spend gems on another character slot instead.

So, you say that Anet only want players to buy gems to get things (ie. character slots) from the gem store. If it were truly an act of Anet only wanting player money (and not a coding/other technical issue that they’ve said is the real issue), don’t you think they would have put in a race changer on the gem store for 800+ gems?

Actually, no. Because Anet knows that just a character isnt enough, you’re going to want inventory slots, cosmetics for your new character, maybe be suckered into buying more infinite gathering tools because you are lazy, etc and so on. And that’s not even mentioning the extra gold you put into the character, that you need to farm somewhere (and more players is more buisness). The more characters you have, the deeper they got you hooked.

That is the reason they arent doing it. Not because they cant.

Race changes:
1) I am afraid that the team does contemplate different possibilities and new features for the future but this one is not among those. Source
2) There are a lot of far-reaching consequences of allowing one character to play through every race’s personal story or equip any cultural armor/weapons. For now, we feel that it would take away from the experience of Guild Wars 2 for the majority of players. Source
3) Thanks for asking. To change the race in the Gem store will not be an option in Guild Wars 2. Source

And all issues are still rendered moot with 5 minutes worth of creative thinking:

- Only level 80 that has completely finished personal story can racechange.
- Story arc 1 change to “You are a NEWRACE raised by ORIGINALRACE as one of their own”. The story itself remain completed.
- Any racial armor for your previous race equipped or in inventory become uneqiupped and set to accountbound/soulbound on equip/still normal race limited.
- Racial elites/skills are changed the new race.

Done. There you go. Race change implemented. If you race change again, its the same procedure. Originalrace will be set the first time you use makeoverkit, so say if you are Norn that change to Asura, you will first be an Asura raised by Norn. If you then change to Charr, you will be a Charr raised by the Norn. This is the “explanation” for having a Norn personal story. Even then its just cosmetic. You could replace the personal story page with a picture of a Quaggan saying “I dont even know you anymore!”. It doesnt matter for anyone but the player.

I would like to play Charr characters, I like their design and how the communicate and their lore.
But the four legged run makes me motion sick. =(

Any skill you use make them run on two legs. Warriors using warhorn for example never run on 4 legs unless you want them too. Poor mans version of this is of course just pushing 1.

I have seen that before and I do believe its a hack. Invoulnerability from a skill is one thing, but consistently taking the exakt same pretty much impossible damage no matter what skill you throw at them? Unlikely.

The most obvious cheating I see otherwise is the warping. 90% of the time used by rangers that apparently suck so bad they cant play without help, you will see their character stutter around and backpedal at full speed. Well actually you wont even see them backpedal, they will just warp back to another spot. The other 10% of the time it will be a thief that doesnt think perma-stealth is good enough (for some reason).

I have posted this option for eating stacks of consumables over a dozen times over the years and even in threads with devs conversing, as well as offering other AHK rebind scripts. There is nothing ‘illegal’ about it and it is a simple key rebinding script, so why would there be any kind of infraction or deletion? … And, yes, you can change the key that is rebound to a letter key instead of scroll down – I simply offered the framework with an example, users can customize it however they like to fit their preference…

Haha then you must be lucky or mods hate me. I have been infracted at the mere mentioning of the possibilities to rebind your keys via macro.

If Anet sell GW2 HoT on Steam they would have to pay a huge chunk of their income to Valve. For small games which need to show themselves the good may outweigh the bad, but for an already established game like GW2? Not needed. Anet is their own publisher now and take all the profits (well except then giving them to the parent company but that’s beside the point).

But then again with GW2 being f2p now Anet could technically cheat the system and put out GW2 on Steam with no cost, just download and go… I dont know what the terms say about payment to Valve for f2p games.

Like Narrrz, I use AutoHotKey to rebind scroll down to function as a single mouse left click to eat them quickly.

This is the script that I use for this behavior:

  • Download and install AutoHotKey.
    It is a program that is useful for making individual scripts to make custom keybinds. You can even have different scripts with different keybinds for your different characters.
  • Create a text file (myfilename.txt) and add this text into it and then save it:

#NoEnv
#SingleInstance Force
SetTitleMatchMode, 3
#IfWinActive, Guild Wars 2

; “MButton” is the customizable key used to toggle normal scroll wheel function on and off

MButton::Suspend
WheelDown::Click left

  • Rename the .txt extension on it to instead be .ahk
  • Double-click/execute this script prior to or during a GW2 game session to bind wheel-down (pulling toward you) as being left-mouse-click. It will only affect the mouse wheel while GW2 is the active window (so mouse wheel still works fine outside of the game even with it running and active)
  • Clicking your mouse scroll wheel in suspends/disables the script so you can zoom in/out and scroll as normal. Click the mouse wheel in again to reactivate it.

So:

  • Executing the script binds mouse wheel down to function as left click only in GW2
  • Mouse scroll wheel click toggles disabling the script so it scrolls normally again or enabling it so scroll down functions as a left click

I also highly recommend Endless Soul’s suggestion to acquire artificer so you can promote and consolidate all of your lesser lucks into fewer stacks.

Anyway, autohotkey is a great tool for things like this yes. You dont even need all that, just rebind left mouse to a key. When you hold down that key, it will chew through the stack like theres no tomorrow. Works for mf and bags. Great for avoiding to break your mouse. If Anet cant fix the problem with simple UI changes and QoL improvements, I guess we have to do it ourselves.

Physical: Press 1, deal 2k instant damage
Condition: Press 1, deal 800 damage over 8 seconds

Or in the case of a condi Guardian, press a few buttons and cause 8,000 damage every second for 10 seconds.

Next time you want us to test these kind of things in WvW, could you please not do it just minutes after reset? That would be great. At least if this was patched say an hour before, we would have gone into WvW knowing it had issues. Not get kicked out of WvW and ruin our reset.

my 4 year old sits on my lap when I pay sometimes, but when he’s sitting on my lap I just gather from nodes, he also likes the windmills in Queensdale, and my level 80’s can just out run anything I aggro, so it’s not like he sees any violence. we just look at the pretty sights.

Yeah I can just imagine the horror of a parent when their child runs in crying that the other mean kids in the playground kept tossing anchors at them and knocking them back all the time.

Really, all you need to explain to your kid is that no, they dont drop precursors if you hit them repeatedly. RNGJesus in the real world is dead.

The crafting stations and doubled up repair/merchants at the citadel serve absolutely no purpose in WvW other than eating up a huge chunk of the map. We dont need that crap. All needed NPCs could fit snugly around the portals.

If they dont play nicely in chat, thats a kick.
The fact that they made the guild originally is irrelevant.

That said, just ask people in the guild. You may be guild leader, but hanging on to a guild that doesnt care about its leader is pointless. Better to just grab everyone that want to leave and start a new guild. Ultimately, its just a name. Upgrades can always be rebuilt. Then your “friends” can have that empty shell of a guild. But thats only if you feel up to it. Kicking them is just as good.

I solved your problem.

If you want to get really tactical and technical, the pirate ship meta and heavy AoE bombing is completely countered and sunk by Judges Intervention. I dont know if you are EU or NA, but at least in EU high tier the meta look pretty much the same as its done for 3 years – hell we even got far more Guardians now than ever. Melee train is as strong as it has always been. The pirate ship meta only occur because people run too many ranged builds and are scared to die. So easily countered.

Because its only one level. You need more level difference than that.

Also, the green longbow in the pic is the crafted one if I am not mistaken. They will always be generic. Most of the blue ones are loot bows.

Ah yes… I am certain that raids will require full ascended, just like todays dungeons can only be completed by 5 people, not one peep less.

I mean soloing a dungeon is completely impossible!!! Maybe you can 4 man dungeons if you really stretch your imagination, but only in full legendary I suppose.

What would stop servers who are behind on PPT from simply ceasing to play en masse in order to force the match into “nighttime” mode?

So to get more points, they will all stop playing, which btw would still keep the server at “daytime” since we assume that 2 out of 3 servers are still active, making the other servers completely roflstomp all their keeps and making them tick 0.

Tell me how not getting any points is going to make a server that’s behind in PPT gain anything?

Even if they manage to do that alone, the tick ratio will still be the same – if servers get say 250/250/150 points in the “daytime”, they get 125/125/75 in the “nighttime”. Ie you change nothing by “forcing” either mode, just what an hour of low activity vs an hour of high activity is worth.

We see the same thing now – get the kitten on TS or get out you commander noob. Squads is another tier on top of that. Do all people think commanders need to be on TS? Hell no. But many people do, even if its optional (and not even part of the original game for that matter). You’re not seeing that at all on your server?

Maybe it will be a good change, I dont know. Personally I dont like changes that looks like its going to make a simple and effective thing into a tactical excel spreadsheet. But maybe that’s just me.

WvW need its own “timezone” based on its current population. Ie “nighttime” (when PPT tick less) is whenever WvW is at low activity.

So when exactly is it considered wvw low activity? when NA logs off? You’re still tying wvw timezones to real timezones with that method. So what happens when a server like say FA has their NA log off, SoS ocx now get penalized because NA went to sleep?

FA? SoS? NA? OCX? An ingame “time” wouldnt care about anything but comparing current population to max population.

What you are really asking is, what would happen if players log off and there are fewer players?

The answer to that is when a certain player count is reached, WvW goes into “nighttime mode” with lower ppt. This mode would be updated every hour (dont want it to swing back and forth).

No arguments about NA different timezones is needed.
