Now hopefully it won’t get predictable with Mai Trin being the villain. Because that would be way too easy.

My prediction (and hope) is that Kasmeer is the villian. Nobody can be that powerful and beautiful and not be a kitten!

Clearly, it is Chauncey von Snuffles III using a tonic to look like Lady Kasmeer! Totally!

I also found a skin :P but i was wondering if i could re-use it when I bind it to a weapon. Or is the skin permanent attached to my weapon? Found one after probably 40 chests haha

You can change the weapon it is on through Transmutation Stones.

It’s been discussed extensively in the past.

Just to give you a taste, how would you price them and why?

It’s not exactly a trivial undertaking.

Free, why? its Free why u asking why

Mourningcry’s point is that you can’t just slap them up there and expect it to work.

I have no problem with the system now. I’ve already resigned to the fact I will never purchase RNG stuff from the gem store after getting burned in the past. It’s really that simple. I still plan on buying gems for other items on the gemstore (non-RNG), but any of those chests, absolutely not. That’s problem solved.

That’s true, I bought the Rox’s bow and quiver becouse it looks awesome for me as a skin, also the Molten Alliance Mining Pick (infinite! YES!) and Consortium Harvesting Sickle are really good items to buy and that’s the way ANet, those items are worth their price, and I don’t feel bad about spending real money on them.

Total agreement, except I didn’t get the bow and quiver. +1!

Don’t know how people are getting thousands of these things in a few days, it took me over 2 hours to get the 150 stack I have now.

People buy them on the trading post for ~3s.

You do realize that you’re not required to complete the new achievements, nor are you required to purchase anything from the Gem Store… right? They’re all optional.

You’re not required to play the game
You’re not required to take a bath
You’re not required to breathe air.

kitten argument.

Of the three sentences you listed, the last one IS required if you want to continue to exist. The first and second are indeed optional.

If you want to continue to exist. Which is optional if you’re aware of what people do when they don’t want that option.

Everything is optional.

My acknowledgement of other people, interests, and ideas around me is completely optional. But it doesn’t help me get anything done in this world. Just because you can place an ‘if’ before it doesn’t make it any less useful to you as of now. Plus this is getting somewhat offtopic.

And get rid of ncsoft. kitten agreements. You want customers? You were so kitten great during gw1, now? This game would be the best of all mmos, till ncosft is here, it can’t be.

A quote straight from the GWW (GW2W also say it):
“As of 2002, NCsoft owns ArenaNet, the development studio that makes GuildWars.”
Makes it a little hard to get rid of, ya know?

No. They must not be reverted. They must be changed further.

They should take way longer to reload, and spawn several waves of enemies for much longer, and more enemies on each wave, based on ho many players are around, and there should be a veteran in the last wave.

Now it sounds like you are trying to make some sort of event :P

DeShadowWolf.6854

Just an idea to fix the overflows…have all of the overflows spawn on the same time as the original one at time of usage/entering.

E.g. it is 5:43 PM LA, person gets put in overflow, overflow is linked to LA so it is 5:43 PM in overflow too.

Skin Tickets - Gem Store Support Thread

DeShadowWolf.6854

Let’s say a player purchased 50 rich coffers (and I know there are plenty of people who have, or sometimes even more). This player wants to get 4 skins from the RNG. In order to get the SAME profit (note: same, not more profit) those weapon skins would have to be sold for 1,000 gems per skin. I don’t think most people in this thread would very much agree to that.

DeShadowWolf.6854

God, why can’t I just spend my gems for a 100% chance to get a skin? Is that too much to ask for?

I will just say that you have to think about things from the perspective of the other side. Ncsoft needs money to sustain the no sub fee finance model. I don’t know how it all works or anything like that, but RNG has gotten them more money than just putting it up on the gem store. Also, someone else, somewhere said that one of these three outcomes could happen

1. They underprice the skins by a bit and don’t make as much money as they would make using RNG.
2. They overprice the skins and only a few people actually get them. Again, they don’t make as much money as if they used RNG.
3. They price the skins about right and people buy them. But they only buy the few that interest them. If they put it inside RNG, they can still make more money

This whole thing is very much underlined by every single “I bought a whole bunch of rich coffers and only got candy and fireworks” thread and post on this wiki. That person that bought 50 rich coffers may have only bought three or four skins if they were able to directly buy them. If the person bought 2 25 rich coffer pack (a total of 4k gems), but wanted 4 skins, the skins would have to be priced at 1,000 gems per skin just to make the same profit.

I really hate the invulnerability aspect of the change because I can’t damage them at all until they are all spread out now. I could care less about them having more hp or being harder, I just want to hit them all with 100blades (when I’m farming solo).

As a very AoE ele, I totally agree.

I think this really needs to be restated.

The problem with Dragon Bash is that there’s too much “gambling” involved in this event. The Moa race gold sink gambling and this whole purchasable RNG box thing. You may say, “Who cares? Just don’t gamble! Don’t take part!” The big problem with gambling (as many gambling addicts know) is that the lure / trap of gambling can be very destructive and addictive. It is almost impossible for some people to resist and if sanctioned and encouraged by Anet it can result in some really upset, financially wounded customers.

If you have an object for sale, the consumer will gauge the price, weigh the time/effort/financal expense in accruing the item, then make a choice to get it or not. if they do spend the money they feel satisfied becayse they got what they paid for, and there are usually no surprises. With gambling it’s completely different.

The gambling cycle goes something like this. The consumer believes they have a chance of “winning”, that is spending a little and getting a lot. In reality the odds are stacked against them, but the BELIEF that you could win big (or in this case get the weapon skin) is tantalizing. So you invest, and start buying boxes or betting. At a certain point, if the consumer starts to lose, they become obsessed with the idea that only a few more bets will make it all worth it. They hate the idea of all the previous lost bets or boxes purchased being a waste of money, so they actually wind up spending MORE money. This is where it starts to really get out of control. The more you lose the more you bet. If you win, you keep betting, high on winning. If you lose, you keep betting. It’s a psychological trap. And it’s very, very dangerous. I know families in RL that were torn apart by gambling. One parent got hooked on gambling and secretly spent all their money, always thinking he could win it all back and make it worth it.

In terms of GW2, you can clearly see this psychological trap in play (albeit on a smaller scale). The posters on this thread got stuck in it. I saw someone on the forums openned thousends of boxes and spent almost $100 in a day. 0 tickets. Another lost 45g on Moa racing. That’s the gambling cycle demon in action. And I think Anet should be very careful about releasing that demon on their players.

Sure, you can argue (as casinos do) that the responsibility rests with the client, not the house. But the house is responsible for setting up the trap. And Anet should really reconsider this method for future events.

To all those people toting that people just shouldn’t buy them, this is what traps people.

I am hoping to get at least 3 before the end of Dragon Bash, I don’t know that I will be able to.

We have an entire month…thus far: 1/10th of that month

But this doesn’t even make sense! People want the skin, why the hell put it in a RNG chest?? Arena.Net, why are you not giving your customers the item they are paying for??

You are being given exactly what you paid for: gems. Beyond that, you are still getting what you are paying for: Rich Dragon Coffers. Just like in real life, you want to do some research, get some solid facts before you make a (well-informed by this point) decision on whether or not that chance is worth it to you. I’m not trying to be a white knight, but it is not Anet’s fault that you couldn’t wait and get the facts in before spending.

Think about it this way. We all know about WoW and the 15 bucks a month sub fee that came with it. Anet put no sub fees, no recurring payments of any sort. This is their way of maintaining that business model. Their way of providing a game without obligatory or mandatory payments. I think they’re doing what they can to appease us players, but they need this kind of money to keep running. They gave you a game without a monthly fee and now they’re asking for the playerbase to voluntarily give them financial support to keep this going. And RNG makes them money.
