A big problem with your argument is that Abbadon is completely unaware

Hello? God of Secrets. Technically, this means he’s aware of things others are not aware of.

We are using the word “aware” in completely different ways that I do not find compatible.

Few silver for a month. HA! What crack are you smoking. It cost 3 and more just to WP from one end of the map to the other, much less multiple jumps a day, times how many times you login. True about the WvW getting nothing tho. Except screwed. they do that a lot. Gotta “rebalance” the skills with PvP in mind, regardless of how it screws with WvW viability. And heaven forfend you try to rank up more then a couple toons.

I’ll take the WPs. The saving just chasing world chest events will be huge, and not touching keys for chests with contents I don’t want or need. Fractals are irrelevant to me.

Of course this entire argument is based on the idea the the reduction cuts will be huge. Afaik they haven’t even released any numbers on the exact offers mad by the two candidates.

Seriously OP? We all kill and murder people for what we believe is good or because our superiors tell us to do so.

OH and as far as I’ve read the lore, Lions Arch isn’t a democracy by the people for the people. The captains council decided how and what. The council members are not elected by the people, but by the other council members.

You as a Lions Arch citizen have no rights…. there’s no democracy in GW2.

But please rise up, so you can be labeled a separatist or terrorist.
So I can legally put you to the sword.

You as a Lion’s Arch citizen have no rights….therefore you can’t label people as separatists or terrorists, nor can you legally put someone to the sword…Because you have no rights :p

Just look at Logan and Rytlock. They made a bearbaiting theater go up in flames, but Magnus and his cronies still threw them in jail. Have fun manacled in a prison cell in LA! /sarcasm

Thaumanova Reactor vs. Fall of Abaddon

in Cutthroat Politics

If players pick the Thaumanova Reactor. That affects both Space and TIME. Then their would be a possibility the Fall of Abaddon would still come into being.

It also MAY allow the gods to come through some rip it time, to reappear it GW2.

Getting really really tired of this when they have already said the losing fractal will NOT be made. Now, there is always a possibility that the losing fractal may go on a ballot somewhere else in the LS or something, but that goes both ways and has no basis of actually happening, So, even if the asuran one messes with the space/time stuff, using “so they might make the other one cause the Kiel one breaks space/time” is just irritating.

One thing that people seem to be missing is that the gods “left” twice. Once, in the year 0 AE they actually left the physical world (they had been dwelling in Arah). And a second time, as referenced by Lord Trejgon, around the end of Nightfall where they stopped leading humans by the hand (or shirt).

I have heard a line of idle dialogue from some (presumably) Norn that I think can also be applied here: “I pray the Spirits of the Wild, but they rarely answer.” So while it is possible that Abbadon, before he fell from his seat of power, informed them of the EDs, I think it is not one of the most likely answers

With Black Lion Keys at a reduced price, required every 5 minutes you’re in Fall of Abbadon. Run out of keys? Buy more or you’re kicked back to LA.

I think you forgot your “/sarcasm” at the end there.
Oh, and yeah….

With Matrix Cube Keys now sold by Lionguard merchants (only found in loactions that supported Kiel 80% or more), required every 6 min 45 secs you’re in the reactor. Running low? Get kicked to the reactor where your bugged in place above the misplaced steam ogre hole. /sarcasm

I have a question for those of you who intend to vote for Evon Gnashblade because you like his character. Would you rather see him stuffed behind a desk or tethered to bureaucratic meetings about zoning regulations or tariff rates? Or would you rather seem him do what he does best, scheme from the shadows to get back at that do-gooder Kiel for taking his seat?

The way I look at it, the things that make Evon interesting would be better displayed if he loses the election. So if you like Evon, I think you should vote for Kiel.

Of course, the exact same argument can be made for all those Kiel-supporters. So really this thread is about getting people to vote for Kiel under false pretenses xD

If the reactor can effect the mists, then technically so could any event that occurs within the fractal. Isolating one event saying this one can do it but the other’s cannot is bogus. Colin was hinting at a possible effect that could occur to entice players to vote for Kiel, he’s obviously biased towards her winning.

Chaos magics could interfere with how the mists operate causing all sorts of wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff, but Abbadon was a god, he gave Tyria the means to use magic. Manipulating a causality within the mists would be child’s play, even if he’s unaware.

One thing is that this is all complete speculation. Nothing is actually known about what would happen. A big problem with your argument is that Abbadon is completely unaware (which you even admit to,) meaning that any “interaction” results created by FoA would be side effects, likely similar in nature to the Chaos magic possibilities offered by the reactor. But then, you never know what might happen.

I want it to be fun and show the avatars and statues of the gods as they were in gw1. I don’t like their updates to the statues, feels wrong. A few things that puzzles me, what was Menzies doing at the time, who was in charge of the underworld at the time, and who was the goddess of water and secrets before abaddon, and how long was it after he took her place that he fell?

I think (not completely sure) that Grenth was in charge of the underworld, but I might be wrong. Afaik there was no goddess of water and secrets before him, but in the GW1 campaign Nightfall Kormir replaces him.

Just remember the last time we are offered cheap black lion keys! What did we get at the end? Worthless junks, things we could buy for karma already and no keys.

That charr don’t say how much it will be cheaper 1% 2% even if it is 10 or 15 how many times do you plan to buy them with that price? You will buy 1 or mabey 2? even if you are “golden” you don’t want to waste your money on RNG boxes.

And that human didn’t say how much she would reduce waypoint costs. It could be 1% or 2%. However, Evon says he will “slash” prices. Slash, when used in this context, would generally indicate a larger difference than Kiel’s wording (only “reduce”.)

Now want it or not you will use waypoints to travel. Imagine how many times you will use them in four weeks! Thats a lot!

Remember to save your 1-10 copper each time!

Let’s see the fractal options! You want underwater combat with possible krait and/or shark, risen enemies or you want to fight with possible construct and/or inquest enemies?

You both presume much and say things that are neither proven nor the most likely. Sure, we may fight a construct and/or Inquest enemies (of which there are numerous already,) but where exactly does fighting Krait and sharks (Risen is just plain laughable; this is the Fall of Abbadon from his seat as a god, when Zhaitan still lay forgotten under Orr; this is before GW1) fit into the Fall of Abbadon. Nobody said anything about Krait or sharks, but Margonites and other servants of Abbadon (possibly Abbadon himself) are FAR more likely than Krait or sharks.

In times of troubles who will stand beside you and hold the line? The merchant or the captain?

Neither, the captain will stand back while you fight for your life, and the merchant will gear you up for an epic fight, but not stand beside you…yet. Or the merchant could decide to hire a small army of guys to help protect people. But the *cough*Kormir Syndrome*cough* Captain probably won’t have the money to supply you like that.

One of the problems with posts 1 and 2 is that they can go the other way just as easily. We could later learn more about the reactor incident just as much as we could later learn about the gods and the fall of Abbadon. You say “now lets observe the 2 outcomes of the election.” I would say that there are 4 outcomes.
1. We get the reactor and later learn of FoA
2. We get the fall of Abbadon and later learn of the reactor
3. We get the reactor and don’t learn much more of FoA
4. We get the fall of Abbadon and don’t learn much more of the reactor

So, I would say that only the devs can really know that much about what we will later learn more of, However, we do know that the losing fractal will not be added, at least not until something else triggers it.

As for “world changing event,” if turning the Crystal Sea into the Crystal Desert and the Desolation is NOT classified as a world changing event, the we might need to look into that method of classification.

Vote for justice. Vote for bikinis. Vote Kiel.

Precisely why Kiel shouldn’t be on the council. She is better suited to the field, where she can ‘spearhead’ the war on the EDs instead of doing paperwork and trying to make legislature (not the Kiel-style of action.) I personally think the number of replies to a thread is fairly irrelivant, especially when compared to the value of the contents of those replies. Imo Evon has a good portion of both blade and gnash.

Anything over 0 is more than nothing. That’s a thick rock and not thin air. Oh well, more simplicity – take the number down to 1 million characters and make it only 1 silver a day, that’s still 28,000,000 silver. (You are right, that was easier to calculate, thank you!)

You are still pulling too many numbers of of thin air for it to be taken seriously. Love how you failed to actually quote my hard-as-rock text. ^.^

And your ‘not supporting RNG?’ You only say that about Evon because you delude yourself into thinking he is only the bad stuff. It has been proven that Kiel is a direct supporter of the Separatists in Ebonhawke. Kiel is a racist and does not deserve a chance to represent the council.

This is incorrect. In fact, it is in fact Evon that is guilty of what you’re accusing Ellen of. Didn’t you hear of the latest Evon-gate? We all know his phrase:

You: Is it odd that a charr is running a trading company?
Evon: "Nay! The same principles apply to both trade and combat! A stout heart and sufficient supplies will always carry the day! “I love the smell of commerce in the morning!

But that’s not what he said. His comment was far closer to where he stole [typical for his character!] the original quote from, namely, Apocalypse Now: I love the smell of napalm in the morning.

But here’s the shocking part: Evon is really an ogre. What Evon really said was:

You: Is it odd that a charr is running a trading company?
“I’m no Charr, I’m an Ogre! Ha! No principles apply to either trade or combat! A vile heart and sufficient napalm will always carry the day! I love the smell of charred Charr in the morning!”

Vote for justice. Vote for bikinis. Vote Kiel.

Except that the only part of your argument that actually has any sort of backing is the first pair of lines and that it is a reference to Apocalypse Now. However, making the change from what it actually is to the napalm version from the movie is basically unequitable because many games (including GW2) throw in references like that all the time. this does not mean the two incredibly different quotes can be exchanged. Anet throws in these references for fun and for the people who understand them. That does not make them interchangable. Your last ‘quote’ set is simply a blatant lie and is only in there to attempt to sway people (and in the process, being specieist.)

Let’s guesstimate. 2 million players, for simplicity we’ll just take that as the amount of characters (yes I dropped 1 million on purpose). My waypoints are usually in the 2 – 3.5s – let’s say 2 uses per day, 4 weeks – 28 days – let’s go with 50% reduction and make it 2s total per day …

28 × 2 × 2 x 2,000,000 … that’s a lot of silver.

So just for myself, likely around 2 gold savings which is a lot more vs keys that I am not buying

Edit: Plus the added peace of mind of not supporting chest-RNG (’cause not all RNG is “bad”) – priceless.

You are pulling too many numbers out of thin air (including the 50%, which is less likely than the Arcane Council all going and bowing to Rytlock) for this arguement to be taken seriously. Plus, as someone else has said, those 2g (which you aren’t actually gaining, you just aren’t spending) don’t really matter that much.

And your ‘not supporting RNG?’ You only say that about Evon because you delude yourself into thinking he is only the bad stuff. Are Larry and Sergei responsible for those inflammatory spam emails you got? No, they are just providing a free way of fast communication. If Evon is every case of RNG then Kiel is every case of Kormir Syndrome (which she does suffer greatly from.)

I heard that Evon Gnashblade is only running in the election so that the Black Lion Company can finally take over waypoint control and gear repair.

Once Evon gets elected, WP prices will triple. Moreover, if you want to travel using damaged gearpieces, you will have to pay a “secure travel” fee of 30% per damaged item. Is that really what you want?

Kiel is the new Kormir/Trahearne

in Cutthroat Politics

Posted by: DeShadowWolf.6854

DeShadowWolf.6854

One thing i think needs to be done is correctly define & diagnose the Kormir Syndrome. You may disagree with me and that is fine, but this is how I would define it.

Kormir Syndrome: Named after the first person to most likely have it, Kormir Syndrome is a story issue with NPCs in which, because of their position or actions, the player character feels as though the NPC is rewarded for the effort and work of the player. This causes a feeling of jealousy towards said NPC, because of aforementioned rewards that the NPC receives despite the work the player has done. Also related to Useless NPC syndrome.

Using this definition we can begin by determining that Kormir does in fact suffer from her Syndrome (even if only she had the “gift” from the gods or whatever.) Our next patient is Trahearne. I haven’t fully played thru the personal story yet. Kiel. Kiel does very little in the Canach/Null instance, and not much in AR, form what I hear. She is promo’ed to Captain and is told to run for Councilor. Sounds like a more mild case of Kormir Syndrome and a good bit of a power play for Magnus (Kiel on the Council? Moar Powa!)

Thus, I conclude that GW and GW2 do suffer from Kormir Syndrome

some things to consider

in Cutthroat Politics

Posted by: DeShadowWolf.6854

DeShadowWolf.6854

Consider this…

We’re having this election to replace a greedy, self-serving charr. Do you really want to do so with another greedy, self-serving charr? Evon Gnashblade is the kind of guy who wouldn’t give the scraps from his table to a starving man unless he profited from it somehow. Ellen Kiel, on the other hand, risked her career and possibly her life to free enslaved charr and norn from an oppressive and exploitative corporation. She’s always seeking to help others, even if it’s at her own expense.

Now consider this…

Ellen Kiel wants to reduce the way point cost each and every one of us incurs. This means every time you jump from one world boss to another, port to play with your friends, or hop up to Frostgorge Sound or down to Orr to make your daily Ori run she’s putting money in your pocket? Evon Gnashblade? He’s the guy taking money out of your pocket each and every time you sell your hard-earned loot on the Black Lion Trading Company.

This. I see this EVERY time. it is phrased as “Kiel puts money in your pocket, Evon takes it.” Always. Look at the whole thing. Kiel does not, put money in your pocket, she makes it slightly less expensive to wp. And lets face it, we have NO idea how much she will reduce it by (or her method of reduction, which is probably by dealing with hairless asura who just want to get out of their job. Probably the reason we see Thermanova Reactor with her.) She says, “I’ll reduce waypoint costs for four weeks.” No guarantee that it will be any sizable difference.

Evon, on the other hand, is phrased as “taking your hard-earned money.” Hardly the truth if you are willfully buying them even if you know it is RNG. In fact, he does the exact same thing as Kiel, just with different objects. And he says “I’ll slash the price on Black Lion Keys for four weeks.” The word “slash” used in this case indicates a much more dramatic and affecting drop in price. So it could be phrased just as truthfully as “Evon will save you money when it matters, but Kiel offers no guarantee.”

And finally consider this…

The Fall of Abaddon is a chronicled event; we already know what happened. Being there isn’t going to expand our knowledge of the event or change anything at all. And I have it on good authority that the Reactor Meltdown may in fact be cause of the first interdenominational rift that allowed the Steam Creatures to cross into our world. Who doesn’t want to experience that first hand!?

So remember who has your best interest at heart when it comes time to cast your vote. Remember “Kiel for Council”.

The Fall of Abbadon that we are talking about isn’t chronicled. We know there was a big fight between the other five and Abbadon and Abbadon lost, and that it was a huge event that truly changed the face of Tyria. Forever.

An asuran lab experiments went kabloey, maybe because of Inquest sabotage. No surprises nothing new. It may have created a rift in time/space or whatever. If the Arcane Council decides it wants to fund and support additional research into it, that is probably a good idea. But we should all ask ourselves: Why does this concern Lion’s Arch and the Captain’s Council? Is this reactor more important to those of us who fight the Elder Dragons every day than the fall of a god that changed the face of Tyria forever and turned a sea into a desert?

@SiegHawk: the charr propaganda of Ascalon being their territory from the get-go is the greatest BS I’ve ever heard in GW. Fact is, Ascalon NEVER belonged to the charr to begin with. They came in as conquerors, dominated and enslaved the primitive originals called the grawl, they fought and probably pushed out the dwarves whose empire in Ascalon had spanned from the southern Blazeridge to the northeast (beneath the surface), and they fought the Forgotten who also had a presence on the northern shores of the Blazeridge and southern Ascalon. Out of those three, two were defenders or close allies of humanity. Forgotten were their shepherds for a time and assistants to the Six Gods, and the dwarves of old were on good terms with the humanity until their schism and civil war (mind you, Deldrimor still maintained good relationship with both Kryta and Ascalon). If anything, humanity took back what was originally the property of their allies, but those conceded to let them hold it and build their empire there.

Even though it was the Flame Legion that opted to use the Cauldron of Cataclysm, many charr still approve of using it as it “won” back their ill-earned and usurped lands – they approve of the mindless destruction that wrecked a country for decades and led to the slaughter of thousands of innocent, defenseless people.

However, this is not Evon’s legacy. Still, Evon’s legacy is also thousands of slain people out of all sentient races. He’s probably the wealthiest mortal on the continent, yet he did absolutely nothing for the betterment of Tyria. Just from the hole in the left pocket of his trousers he could’ve funded charities for victims and refugees of dragon invasions – like the Vigil. He could’ve invested in research to find better ways and technology to fight the dragons and their minions. He could’ve set up state of the art defenses on Claw Island, Lion’s Arch, and those many villages and ports that fell prey to Zhaitan’s filth. What did he do? Sit on his furry backside, swinging his tail while counting the astronomical amount of gold coins he’d made under one day from taxing real heroes that brought and end to Zhaitan’s reign.

If you have conscience, you vote for Ellen Kiel.

Vote for Ellen. Vote for the future. Vote for Lion’s Arch.

First, if you take that first paragraph there, change all the GW2 words to ones related to the subject and played with the phrasing, that could work out quite well as an attempt for justifying the Spaniard’s conquest of the Native Americans…..

The Vigil isn’t a charity fund, it is an order dedicated to fight the EDs through force. But you are right. He could have set up a small army to defend LA and Claw Island those other villages and towns in the area afflicted by Zhaitan. Except for one thing…those places were supposed to be under Lionguard control. Claw Island may not have fallen if it weren’t for irresponsible Lionguard leadership there. But, while Magnus and Kiel and their cronies (admit it, Kiel is just a soldier of Magnus’) couldn’t set up a valid defense against the Undead Elder Dragon, the man of money and supplies could have saved lives.

The only way to show your support for RNG boxes is to buy RNG boxes (or say so directly through feedback to ArenaNet). Voting for either side in this election says nothing about RNG. If ArenaNet wanted to know if players liked RNG, they’d look at the sales figures of the RNG boxes.

Even if Evon won, the sales of Black Lion Keys after the discount would be the only thing to support RNG, not the election result itself.

ArenaNet is a business. When making business decisions they would use hard data (which they have) over inconclusive anecdotal nonsense.

It’s more about voting against Evon to protest RNG and letting it be very obvious that that is why we are voting against him. It’s more ‘making a point’ than anything else.

Then let me tell you some logic you couldn’t find on your own. Your ‘point’ has been made very obvious hundreds of times, over and over, by every kitten thread that has ever spouted anything against RNG. Anet knows we hate RNG, they may hate it almost as much as us. But the publisher controls the developer. If NCsoft says to put in RNG, they have to put in RNG. Furthermore, after diving into RNG, people then complain on the forums as though they shouldn’t even have the choice, simply because they didn’t have the willpower to not buy RNG when they knew it was RNG.

Evon is often called out for being ‘supportive’ of the whole RNG thing, but keep in mind the NAME. Black Lion Trading Company a.k.a the Trading Post. They do not control what goods go through their system or who receives them, they are just the company that facilitates the transaction and takes a small fee for their work.

#Team Gnashblade

Sounds like you are passing the buck there.

If Evon is so useless and uninformed that he allows his company, the company he owns solely to support a product line that he himself does not support then why would the citizens of Lion’s Arch want him on the council at all.

What I am saying is more like this: say you go to a store and buy a bag of chips. Now, the chips in the bag may be a week stale, but you weren’t paying attention when you bought it and now you are not happy with the stale chips. The store did not open up the bags to double check their contents before putting it on the shelves. They merely facilitate the transaction of buying chips with going to the chip-baker and trading in some ink you have for your bag of chips.

Exactly! I really, really wish people would stop assuming that we ALL have a problem with RNG. We don’t! Maybe because we win, consistently, or maybe because we understand commerce and economics (and thus know directly selling skins benefits no one) and most importantly, probability. But whatever the reason, we don’t all have issues with RNG and thus pegging a vote for Evon to a vote for RNG is not a sound strategy for Kiel supporters.

Untrue. Directly selling skins does benefit the players. Locking them solely behind a pay lottery only benefits ANet at the expense of players. If those same skins were also available for direct purchase then the practice would not be seen as abhorrent as it currently is.

And no. Some of you think it is acceptable. Most of us, however, don’t. Thus, for us, voting against Evon is voting against RNG.

But putting them in the gem store is pretty much guaranteed to get people to buy them in the gem store rather than through RNG, which would force Anet to price them a good bit higher than aforementioned Rox and Braham skins.

Your last sentence is a logical fallacy. People don’t like RNG (and not all of us) so therefore voting for Evon is voting for RNG? that just does not follow through. Some better logic to add to the end you your post might be Voting for either candidate isn’t going to change anything about RNG so you may as well vote for a chicken. :P

I’m surprised some people haven’t mentioned this:

1. RNG boxes do nothing for Anet’s pocketbook directly. Nothing. Ncsoft controls Anet, not the other way around. NCsoft gets the money and can distribute it out among its other games (it is a Korean company, anyway.)
2. Nobody is forcing you to pay out of your personal money for RNG boxes. You don’t have to buy them, but then after you do, you complain on the forums about how Anet shouldn’t have RNG.

I don’t think that is correct. Colin stated that the story gets tied up at the end which means it is already written. It’s like a choose your own adventure book. The only thing we are choosing is the fractal and the bonus. We aren’t choosing how the story plays out. That is already decided. Ellen and Evon’s roles in the story are not affected even though by either one of them being in power makes it look that way. We are just being offered the illusion of a choice in the matter, not too unlike real life politics.

I think you had a better analogy with the choose-your-own-adventure book. THough it is possible that after a month or two it will converge together again, it is equally possible that they have something more like the Orders personal storyline in that which ever we choose now will branch out into a different scenario (with the same foes as if we had chosen the other one) but with a different approach to it. This could lead to some very interesting plot deviation, despite what you call and ‘illusion’….

[…..]

Because everyone knows that it was Kiel that made money off of the Supply Crates and not Evon. /sarcasm

Oh. Right. They were bought in the Black Lion Trading Post for gems. Meaning that Evon made the money. That would mean the Evon perpetrated the Southsun Supply Crate scam. Which he then continued with the Dragon’s Jade Claim Ticket in Rich Dragon Coffers.

Evon is the perpetrator of RNG, not Kiel. A vote for Kiel is a vote against RNG.

Or, rather more likely, Kiel had stacks and stacks of crates loaded onto ships and uderhandedly sent to the BLTC by Lionguard ships, while the players were off busy doing the work of real heroes and defeating the Legendary Karka Queen. In doing this, it would both allow her to do her dirty work while deflecting your unsuspecting blame to Evon, who she thought she could trust to shut up about his sources.

Anyway, you can tell yourself that a vote for Kiel is a vote against RNG as much as you want, but I’ll say this: Arenanet reads these forums. they know all too well how much we hate RNG. But they can’t do anything. They are told to put RNG in by NCsoft. The publisher controls the developers, not the other way around. If you want to tell yourself, still, that Evon represents RNG kittenboxes, I’ll remind you he also stands for everything good about the BLTC:

*No more WTT or WTS or WTB
*Free commerce
*Player trade
*Global connections
*Good economics
*No scams

What? How does that even make sense? So because someone doesnt like to have the money they worked hard for taken and get nothing in return, that means they are bias against Charr?

Nobody held a gun to your head and told you to buy the RNG boxes. Nobody threatened to hurt/kill you if you didn’t buy them. Nobody mugged you. You were not forced in any way to buy RNG boxes. You bought them of your own free will and then you blame the devs (and Evon) for it, because you can’t understand that you chose to buy RNG boxes. That is just acting like a two-year old.

#Vote Kiel, cheaper waypoint > supporting RNG cash boxes.

First sentence has been covered, nuff said there.

1st of all, I don’t think either of the two of us know how much they will actually reduce prices by (but the word ‘slash’ tends to indicate a larger cut than ‘reduce,’ which could mean 1% or 45% for all we know), so you are judging prematurely. 2nd of all, Anet can read the forums and knows just how much we kittening HATE RNG, but they can only do what NCsoft tells them to.

I do not dismiss the idea that this is a political power play for Magnus to gain unfair power from, but, theoretically, if it was, wouldn’t Magnus deserve this extra leverage? He is the (lead) defender of Lion’s Arch, a longtime supporter of Destiny’s Edge, and a silent supporter of Anti-Dragon groups I.E. the Pact.

#TeamKiel

He is the (lead) defender of Lion’s Arch? Well then, where was he when, in the personal storyline, Claw Island is taken? And then it falls to you and your order to defend the city from the attack. And I don’t know about supporting Destiny’s Edge (after all, he really only worked with them was bc they cam to him [and he did not directly go with them] and bc he threw them in jail). He said himself the only Dragon he really cared about was Zhaitan, who affected LA.

A vote for Evon is a vote for RNG

Many people have said that on the forums, the choice is in the mind of the beholder. Personally, I am kind of annoyed that when people talk about Evon they think of RNG kittenboxes, and not the entire other section which is most often used by players (the player market.) I have had quite some fun with the latter, though I’m not fan of RNG either.

Kiel vs. Evon

Continued….

Evon has shown himself willing to exploit the defenders of Tyria at every turn, and has started this campaign by showing himself to be incompetent or a liar. Ellen has fought by our side against karka and Aetherblade alike, and her policy will ease the financial burden on every hero who needs to quickly respond to a hotspot or a life-saving escape from danger when overwhelmed by foes.

After saving you 5% of 1-4 copper responding to a “hotspot” (the latter of your suggestions just shows your own lack of research and “records”, you can’t wp while in combat), you can then proceed to help Kiel (we haven’t even met Ellen as a character, only Kiel, the now-captain in the Lionguard) with another tedious activity in which she takes the credit.

We are the thin line that stands between Tyria and destruction. Which candidate would you trust to stand behind us and help secure Tyria’s future? A liar who would strip your pockets to fill his own, or a fellow soldier?

Make the right decision, my fellow adventurers. For Tyria.

- Lothar of House Draxynnus, Magister of the Durmand Priory

Again, more usage of titles and roleplaying to exert more authority and power than is held. A fellow soldier? I don’t remember any time at which Kiel and I fought together, except for the escorting the dolyak, which doesn’t count bc the only reason she was there was to watch it sink and magically receive a promo as Magnus somehow appears. I do, however, remember when she stood at the entrance to Canach’s Lair while I got my butt whooped.

Preceptor Valenze,

It is interesting to note that, after having kept the peace with the Consortium in Southsun – however distasteful she found their methods – by painting them as a villain to discredit Gnashblade by association, she has effectively declared herself as an enemy of the Consortium.

Lightbringer Aeron Draxynnus

More titles, More authority, and, suprisingly, a little truth. The Consortium will not like her much, but who knows what ungodly things the Consortim would have do to sell their stuff if Evon hadn’t gotten it.

Kiel vs. Evon

DeShadowWolf.6854

Adventurers of Tyria,

[….]
I’ve certainly seen no indication that Evon Gnashblade, or any charr for that matter, suffers from canophobia.

With that said, those of us who fought on Southsun during the recent emergency will know that Ellen Kiel certainly did not travel there for the purpose of holidaying, and what vacation time she did spend was due to a direct order. With Evon’s contacts, he should be aware of this, and yet he deems this message “acceptable”. Either Evon considers it acceptable to begin his campaign with a bald-faced lie, or Evon has proven himself to be less-than-competant at keeping himself informed of recent events.

And who knows, maybe she took more of a break than you think, and her appearance at the Effigy stage (while not during short on-duty shifts at the ceremony itself) was just having fun trolling thousands of you “adventurers”

Ellen’s campaign launch, by contrast, is based on solid facts that we know that to be true. While it has to be said that Evon’s relationship with the Consortium represents anything but choosing not to allow principle to overcome business practicality is extrapolation, we know that the Black Lion Trading Company did indeed trade in Consortium goods. Furthermore, hundreds or more of my fellow defenders of Tyria have fallen victim to the shady business practices of the Black Lion’s own products, where instead of providing items at a fair price, the Black Lion Trading Company has exploited my less financially savvy comrades by refusing to sell them except through lucky-dip boxes that may or may not (but usually do not) contain anything the buyer actually wanted. Even now, Evon shows that he is out of touch with the needs of those fighting to preserve Tyria’s future – while Ellen’s offer to reduce waypoint fees will benefit all defenders of Tyria, all Evon promises is to exploit the more gullible among us a little less.

And who knows, maybe the Consortium wanted to sell you their goods at 1200 gems each until Evon got his paws on some of their horribly overpriced merchandise.

Fellow adventurers of Tyria, we all know the dangers that threaten Tyria. Minions of three elder dragons continue to harass our citizens, and at least two more remain lurking outside Tyria’s borders or perhaps sleeping beneath our very feet. Dredge, centaurs, and krait seek to invade our lands and enslave our peoples from without, while criminals and traitors seek to undermine us from within.

My family history records how Abaddon was defeated – because they were there when it happened. Either Evon is actually looking to research the events that lead to Abaddon’s confinement instead, or he has shown himself to be even more out of touch.

- Magister Lothar Draxynnus

Your attempt at roleplay makes me want to laugh and spit and curse at the same time. While I understand that people have much fun roleplaying in this game, using this method to try to convey your messages is just annoying. Using titles like “Magister” and “Lightbringer” (even if you have them in-game) only makes me feel as if you are trying to exaggerate your authority and power. You can read all the lore you want about both cases of the fall of Abaddon, claiming that your “family” retains record of it is just another attempt to sound more powerful.

I’m also sick of ArenaNet rewarding the NPC. Kormir becomes a god, Trahearne is the big hero, Keil gets the promotions. The player is just here to do all the leg work.

Kormir sacrificed her mortal life to contain Abaddon’s power. Trahearne had to take on a role he didn’t want. Kiel is being given responsibilities she obviously never had the ambition for. All of them acknowledge the player character as an important figure in their lives, and the story makes it clear that they’re grateful for our help.

Also, it it might get complicated if the storyline made YOU a god and then you walk out of town and get killed. Trahearne didn’t want to lead, but the Pale Tree tells him otherwise. Kiel may get a promo, but we were never in the Lionguard to RECIEVE a promo. Just my 2c.

Ok, so I’ve been shmucking around on the wiki for a bit, and I came across a few questions that the wiki doesn’t seem to answer.
First of all, I noticed when looking at the tables of ascended gear, the only one that have a list for utility infusions were amulets. Are amulets the only ascended gear with utility slots, or is this just some form of typo/mistake?
I also can’t find the precise stats for max stat celestial gear. Any help appreciated!

What about big Orr-like place with twenty huge new events and 5 dungeons with armor/weapon/trinket rewards, all of it hard and challenging stuff? Nope? Next-time we will help quaggan kids with their homework?

Unless this leads to new ‘real’ zone very soon, I will be very disappointed. That is, Crystal Desert or otherwise, not a mini-zone of Southsun quality.

There are Roughly 26 zones not including Southsun or Labyrinthine.
The development of this game took about 5-6 years.
That is about 1 zone every 2.54 months. Given that they are now doing an update every fortnight, there isn’t really time to make a ‘real’ ‘Big Orr-like place with 20 huge new events and 5 new dungeons with rewards’ (a 55.55% increase in the number of dungeons in the game.)
Yeah. Not enough time.

DeShadowWolf.6854

Now I don’t agree with a lot of what you said however… one point I think ANET really should do… DISCLOSE THE DROP CHANCE. For example(these are purely made up numbers): if the drop rate on standard coffers is .02% chance, and the drop rate from rich coffers is 2% that’s a HUGE increase in chance. Even though the odds of getting a skin are still crap, they haven’t lied to customers, the odds are better. If they had said standard coffers have a .02% and rich coffers have a 2% very few people would buy the rich coffers. It’s extremely deceptive, and the wording was obviously chosen to encourage purchases. So if you don’t like the marketing strategy the best way to show your dis-satisfaction is to not support it.

I don’t know about disclosing it, but current drop rate research show that:

*The chance from a regular Dragon Coffer is about 0.07%
*The chance from a Rich Dragon coffer is about 1.27%

So, although it is not quite as drastic a change as in your example, it is still more than 18 times better of a drop rate.

Heads up, more RNG in upcoming SkyPirates.

RNG isn’t a problem. RNG being account bound is. People didn’t mind Lady Kasmeer mini or the Molten mini, because it was available on the TP for the luck-aversed. Hopefully it’s similar to the MF rewards this time.

People opening 5000 coffers and got nothing would probably disagree with you.
