But kill yourself in the process when you’ve got torment constantly being reapplied. If it stacks up to 5 and you keep moving. It will do a cool 6k damage. Dont mind the quickest application of bleeds of any class either. That’s not a problem. I’ll kite him. Even though i’ll be immoblized in a fire field with bleeds and torment taking chunks of my health similar to how a burst class would take your health down. Borderline overpowerd Condi Warriors and the other classes take the limelight. Fine with me!

Don’t need stuns to be viable, need consistent pressure to be viable.
Condi Warrior takes to long to make a full impact. Unlike Necros or Engis who can front-load conditions immediately for spike, Warriors have to get into the thick of battle to provide their highest Condi spike (Bleed).
That means you’re taking considerable AoE cleave to provide a spike of 1 condition. Compared to other condi classes who can AoE condition from a range to avoid spike, and apply 3+ at once.
Condi Warrior doesn’t work in tPvP mi amor. Atleast, not at a high level.

It’s fair, deal with it, spend 5$ and get a mic. Most laptops have a mic built in.
TS, Mumble, Ventrilo are all free.
Plus Arenanet can’t ban TS, it’s not affecting in-game play in any way (doesn’t change or modify files).
Weapon is nigh unuseable in tPvP simply because teams are intelligent enough to focus down a Zerker warrior.
If you run Rifle, and want to pump out enough damage to be noticeable, then you have an extremely open weakness to being pressured. Most good teams will cleave you down in a few moments when they realize whats going on.
Only volley is worth while, Killshot isn’t useful due to its cast time and how easy it is to view the animation.
All the other attacks (minus knockback) have to long of a cast time, or don’t do enough useful damage or effect to be considered.
In the end, running Rifle for your team will actually hurt them more than help – if you want to be ranged and a Zerker, only longbow right now is the viable option.
FYI:
My team tried running me as Rifle all last night, sure I did damage, but not enough of anything else to be considered a useful part of a teams composition.

Ive only talked about downed fear wand warrior fear in OP Just to be clear still havent said anything about doom fear yet. And why do you think they added a giant icon for the doom skill? Because it doesnt matter, no it does. Anet doesn’t just add things for the sake of hey lets do this and that.@defektive ya sure but I still think that icon is ridiculous. I would rather have the arm pull back hammer downed animation over the large ICON.

Skills being visible is essential to this game, limiting them in any way only gives one class an advantage over another.
I actually like Flurry, the only problem I have is I find myself activating it alot right as the enemy goes out of my reach, so I’m stood there for a second or two slashing at thin air doing absolutely no good.
I wish you were able to move while using it, though it would also need a new animation as the one I can imagine in my head looks awful.
You can dodge roll to cancel the attack (I think changing weapons also works, but can’t log in to check).

Build is not viable, at all, under any circumstance.
You can’t tank against 2 good players.
You don’t deal enough damage to put out enough pressure.
Your peels are limited to immobolizes (meh).
In essence, by running this you are just ‘there’, and thus not helping your team.
I applaud you for trying something odd, but I wouldn’t endorse this from a PvP perspective.
I think the Asura argument is a little over rated.
As a Warrior, we have some of the largest animations in the game (rather easy to see what we were doing).
For the past year I’ve been playing an Asura because I assumed that it allowed me to hide my animations better.
With the latest patch and Effect’s getting toned down, I decided to test my previous assumption.
For the last 3 days I’ve been playing a female human warrior. At first I thought (this is going to suck). But at this point, I actually feel that it makes no difference. I land the same amount of attacks, I hit just as hard in the same range.
Mind you, these are against great tPvP players, so I would assume that if they had easier access to my animations they would outplay me, yet it didn’t really change much.
IMO, animations being on a readable level is important. Should it come down to the race you play? No, but they should be easily readable by any player, and thus punishable if you can counter it.
They’ve stated after Pax Prime they are going to revisit these classes, so prob atleast 2-4 months before any significant changes.
I just like it for the instant immobolize.

Yea, that’s not true.
You can’t count hotjoins as ample ground to verify Warrior viability. In HOTM, only tPvP is king – and there’s a reason why there’s barely a handful of warriors in high end tPvP.
Regarding this build, I think it’s a good introductory build to CC Warrior, but for the life of me (in HOTM), I would never run GS.

It’s just a good hub. I mean, it is the unofficial sPvP server. Basically all the best players and teams go there, so if you’re serious you should (don’t need to obviously) be there.

no, simply because tournaments (in hearth of the mists) are only for condition builds or tanky builds… no more… since a guardian bunker is better than a warrior bunker there are only few skull crack builds and… condition builds of course… and since warriors don’t get a really good contition build: skull crack or nothing, this is hearth of the mists! enjoy.
No, it’s because Defektive won’t let us use our own builds when we’re about to start a match against the ranger SOAC tourny team and forces us to use greatsword when we hate the weapon and/or have never used it aside from unlocking skills in PvE.
I’m going to say this one more time since it happened a long time ago.
It was a duo-coach. Myself and KPop.
I was 10 minutes late to the match even starting because of work.
KPop didn’t even show until after the first match.
Every other team was running builds their coach gave them.
If you didn’t know how to use a Greatsword if I asked you to play greatsword, then you should have made it known so that we could have redid your build.
That being said, if you simply unlocked your skills in PvE and never touched it in PvP, I’m unsure as to why you wanted to play in the Warrior PVP team considering that sounds like you’ve had minimal time with the class at all – let alone in PvP.
Those tournaments aren’t for something to come in and say ’I want to play my own build!" – This is a team game. Each player has to fit a team role. On that note, we let one guy do his own thing as a Condi Sword/Sword LB build and we all know how well that turned out.
As for the PAX Tourny, yes I competed. Overall, myself on a Warrior did rather well – a lot of people sent compliments as well as saying they could definitely see Warriors in higher level play.
We did have an issue with our thief getting trained but our team did the best we could for peeling – but that’s difficult against a good S/D thief.
We won our opening fights (which are arguably the hardest to do) but had a difficult time regrouping after a teamfight loss.

Anybody tried this with Fear Me, Berserker’s Stance and Balanced Stance? I’ve encountered several wvw warriors in it and it’s just a beastly 1v1 build. People either have to waste dodges not getting stunlocked to death by hammer, getting instead stunned by Quake into an eviscerate, or they dodge the eviscerate but have to hit hammer CC.
The sustained damage from axe autoattack is just incredibly high in a mix of knight+berk.
Lyssa Runes and Signet of Rage, high swiftness uptime and gap closers so you don’t get kited at all.
Either way all they need to kill you is axe auto you to death.
Seems like s/d thief is the only build that gives them a run for their money.

Give it some time. Once people start building counter comps to the meta, perhaps mesmers will be in the counter-counter comps.
Lol. Before this last patch with loads of adjustments, warriors and necromansers were also not part of the meta… and it was “given some time”… and they were still not viable in the meta… until a significant patch hit it, changing some specs and abilities.
Regarding the spirit ranger, if you check patch notes they were significantly buffed but the BM spec was still better, until they got nerfed. Then it was a normal change to the spirit spec.
Warriors are still not apart of the meta btw.
Exactly, but still rather more “viable” then mesmers in a team comp due their perma stun/daze spec being more useful to teams. Plus berserk stance.

3 Necromancers to roam between, 2 warriors to hold points. Necromancers spam AoE conditions and heavy boon denial and Warrior to spam single target and AoE stuns.
There you go, a practically unbeatable team comp.
You should make this team and roll with it all the way to #1 mistleague.
This thread is amazing.
Confusion does very low damage, unless you are specced completely for condition damage. With 0 condition damage, each stack only does 65 damage, so those 4 stacks only add up to 260 damage when they attack…less than retaliation at 916 (base) power. None of your other attacks will be doing any condition damage, so it would be worthless to spec for it.
Distracting strikes is one of the most worthless traits for warriors. It is a condition damage trait in a power-based trait line. It’s a Master level trait too, so you’re wasting 20 pts just to get it. Also, the condition damage based weapons for warrior (sword and longbow) have no way of interrupting an enemy. You would have to rely entirely on utilities.
The trait should be completely reworked, or discarded entirely. I like the idea of giving warriors a way to apply confusion, but it needs to be in the Arms line, and needs to work off a mechanic other than stun. Maybe immobilize would trigger it instead of interrupt.
I’m championing Distracting Strikes changed to ‘Corroding Strikes’:
Applies 4 stacks of Vulnerability for 8 seconds on interrupt.
just nerf the body blocking on AI. would solve a lot of headaches.
I could see this being mean in 1v1 fights, but honestly? When the hell do 1v1 fights ever really happen?
If you’re talking about WvW, they happen quite often. Don’t just mindlessly wander after the commander, try doing some solo roaming every once in a while.
I do solo roaming almost always when I WvW, and much of the time I run into groups of 2-3. It’s an off-chance that only one peels to fight, or I only see one person also roaming.
2 players should not be that much of a problem, 3 depending on gear and skill. But yeah, i’m happy that i’ve been lucky to find some nice solo roamers lately.
You need to be more honest. Two good players is a problem, for any class, Two really bad players is not a problem, for any class.

I do not mean to be negative here – but that tournament seeding looks suspect to me. Free ride to the final match up for the qualifier for AL, boring matches ensue. And in the second bracket set you have SYNC, USA, and Envy – just a little lopsided is all.

But I have little wiggle room to complain, we (Envy) can’t play on Saturday, so seeing us on the Sunday ladder is a sigh of relief so far.
The animations are tighter so it’s more difficult to see what they are doing. Detrimental against other players because it’s harder to see a hammer stun or something coming compared to a Norn etc.
If he’s guarding a close point, he has no choice but to eat my burst, even if he does manage to avoid it, he’d have to waste most of his evades, or allow me to neutralize the point. In which case, my Lich still has enough power to finish him off. Also, his Spirits would immediately be dead from my Lich+Well burst.
Hypothetical’s are nice.
I’ll be in agreement when I see it. Team’s purposely exploit classes for their cheesiest mechanics. If this was a definite truth we’d see more Minion or Well mancers 1v1ing spirit rangers.

I’ve seen my teammate survive against 4 players at once in a tPvP for over 30 seconds. We were amazed (and jealous). Pretty sure a necromancer would have gotten trained pretty hard in that circumstance.
The issue isn’t really a 1v1, it’s can you outlast someone+ indefinitely?
It entirely depends on whom the Spirit Ranger/Minionmancer are fighting. I can easily defeat a Spirit Ranger in under 9 seconds with my Wellmancer if I decide to use Lich form.
When/If I see you in combat against our spirit ranger, i’ll be sure to bring a stop watch.
When every highend team is running 1+ Warrior, I think then we can come back to this thread.

Namely because of a strong generic ignorance of what Necromancers are capable of. Minionmancers can do a Spirit Ranger’s job just as well. Most people don’t realize that a Necromancer can literally fit any role in the game as well as another class, or better.
However, the common belief is that Necromancers are only good with Conditions. Granted after the Dhuumfire/Torment patch, it’s definitely the strongest aspect.
Well lets be a bit more factual.
Can MinionMaster res themselves instantly? Spirit Rangers can, which is one of the reasons they’re preferred for back point.
Can they provide protection and burning procs to their teammates? Spirit Rangers can, which is why they are preferred for team fights.
The only true similarity I see between them is they both have pets for body blocking and they both deal power and condition damage.

Come on, be more objective please. If you say kite or avoid killing the war, you just lost the arguement right there. And i love how you saying “GS is easy to counter” when in fact the skull crack is the real problem. No kitten GS is easy enough to counter, but a 4sec stun every 7.6 sec is a little bit harder to deal with.

TBH. GS is extremely easy to counter. I won’t even touch the thing against good opponents.
You can kite a Mace/Shield warrior pretty easily with cripples. And if they have Berzerkers stance up just simply spam evade frames, dodges, teleports or movement skills for the 8 seconds, then reapply cripples.
Personally, I’ve found that players who are over-eager to get a kill against a Mace/Shield warrior are the ones that get punished the hardest.
