for skyhammer just the fights on cannon are bad.
its to much random or much of luck and it is the most important fight there…
also much lames on the portal enter, because u can spam there groundtargets or some guardian hammer 5 or sanctuarys.

i think on cannon fights should the pannels be removed, dont know.
its fun, but lame to run fast about them and bubble with guard fast the enemy throw them.

and necros can port back if knocked down, feels not fair to other classes :P
also he can jump down with f1 and then come back throw the portal or jump down to the worms and make some pve :P

maybe this is why i don’t like the map. I was on cannon duty for my team last night and it was either extremely tense or frustrating to miss a dodge and get shot to an insta death.

I’m running triple stability and it’s still rough.

You feel utterly cheated out of a win if someone does 1 large knockback (ranger longbow for example).

IDK, feels corny, don’t appreciate it in tPvP right off the bat.

Final Thrust before 50% yay or nay? It should come back up in a fight at least once. Unless you’re fighting a Thief.

Do it if it’s a gauranteed hit. you’re looking at 3.5-4k crit.
which is better than 2 auto attack crits in the same timeframe.

Don’t if you think you’ll whif.
Because auto attack will land more often and thus higher probability for damage.

Hello there Defketive. I’ll be quick, as I don’t know much about the new event. You said the new armors are awesome…what armors? Radiant & Hellfire armor? That’s tied to achievement points and you don’t need fortune scraps for it. The only skin you can purchase with scraps is an helm with colored crystals on it.

Fortun scraps + helms are temporary, the achievement point rewards are permanent

Oh and by the way, the answer to your 3rd question is obviously no

There a way a sPvPer can get these without having to spend 20$ to get one piece of gear.

or farm achievement points

or farm crafting items (ex. 150 candy corn pieces).

or spend 30g per piece?

Just seems absolutely insanely grindy and as someone who works full time and doesn’t want to devote that much more time to a game, or money to a game which I’ve already bought. I’m somewhat perplexed as to how I can get the items or just say screw it.

Hi.

My name is Defektive. I spend way to much time in HOTM and way to little in the PvE / WvW aspects of the game.

Mostly because I’m burned out from grinding and having to gear up to be competitive at a high level.

This patch, the new armor is fantastic looking. But I’m finding it difficult to obtain the neccessary Fortune Scraps atleast in an alotted period of time.

So here are my questions:
1) How long does this event last? (2 weeks again? or perm?)

2) What’s the easiest way to get Fortune Scraps without having to spend a fortune of IRL Money.

Example. I’ve be glad to drop 10$ if it procured me a set of the items (not both sets). But from my calculations, it’ll take a minimum of 20$ to get 1 of item.

3) Are there methods to gaining Fortune Scraps from sPvP?

Initial Adrenaline generation isn’t the issue. Sustained is. The nice thing about running Endure Pain (now cleansing Ire) is all that adrenaline you build back up playing as Hammer. You’re attacks are slow, youre movement is slow.

I’d feel concerned about using my F1s so often (atleast, to their full potential).

Just feels like your working against yourself with your trait choices.

+50% crit chance isn’t going to help a whole lot considering the speed at which you swing your attacks. And you won’t be able to use that +50% for a full uptime since you won’t be at full Adren a large portion of the time.

Then you’re grabbing Zerkers power, but are limited in Adren sustain as well as how often you probably are using your F1s. I would see a average of +5% damage from a 30pt trait.

I think you’re under estimating the importance of Furious in the overall uptime of Longbow F1. Dropping 10pts from Arms will really reduce your Adren regeneration at a range.

I’m more curious where you’re getting Adrenaline from.

Considering all your weapons are exceptionally slow and easily susceptible to blind spam, I can only tell you’re generating rage from Burst Mastery (and that’s not really generating, as it is saving).

I’m also somewhat concerned regarding your mobility and thus your effectiveness at assisting at a point on-demand and without setup from your team.

Then to top it, 24k hp but at barely under 1.5k toughness has me off as well, thats barely stronger than a wet noodle but without the damage required to apply pressure.

Personally, the numbers don’t add up and thus the puzzle pieces don’t fall together.
This will require video footage for me to feel more comfortable agreeing or disagreeing with your choices.

Having played about 5k matches total on my war, one thing I will say is that stances are pretty vital for any melee build.

So here’s my suggestion

..

Move the stances (berserker, endure pain, balance) to class mechanic skills, and give a different F1 ability depending on the stance you’re in?

It’s a fairly standard design approach, but that’s because it works.

Imagine a trait in arms that granted 1 second of quickness on stance swap, for those clutch attacks too.

They would never give us fun things like that. That’s why I’ve pretty much given up at this point.

Stop crying about warriors

First of all, lets just establish the glaring fact that warriors have never been as bad as people have cried about in the past 10 months. For those that do not know, warrior has always had access to the best body cleave in the game. If by some way the opposing team is able to res a downed player, while you or any other warrior is hundred blading it, it because you either reacted too slowly to the dead body, or the rest of your four teammates are literally standing there doing nothing as 2-3 opposing players res their teammate. Then there are the people that complain about warriors not being able to win a 1v1 for their life, when if fact, considering most people run a greatsword build, if you land a good whirlwind in a 1v1 you should have a good chance of winning that 1v1. Then of course there are the players that still complain about conditions ripping apart warriors. Which at this point, makes absolutely no sense considering that cleansing ire was implemented last patch, essentially allowing warriors to cleanse at least 2 condis every 10 seconds, and sometimes 3. Then of course there are rune alternatives, such as melandru runes that significantly aid warriors against condis, and of course there is signet of stamina, which due to signet mastery now being one of the best choices in the adept tree for the discipline tree, is a full condi cleanse on a 36 cd. That is a decent to a good collection of condition cleanse, considering that warriors are still able to do a good deal of damage even with this cleanse. Yet, of course, people still cry about how they can’t do the same damage if they decide to go the condi clear route, which I personally do not know if it’s because people don’t understand there will also be some sort of counter to every class in every game, in this case conditions countering warriors. Or there is also the possibility that people want warriors to be an unstoppable force that does the same damage, while being immune to conditions entirely. Which leads to the point, where the warrior community it just a microcosm of the entire guild wars 2 na pvp community, as most players would rather be given something on a silver platter, than deal with what they are given. To conclude, I understand the how, of the reasoning behind people crying, which is because this generation expects to just be given things, but the thing that I don’t understand is the why, considering the fact that there is 5 teams on north america, and 1-2 of those teams don’t even care enough to play other than when there’s a tournament of some “significance,” and there is really no reason to try and fix the game when there isn’t even a community to sustain a competitive environment.

I realize that this thread will have no impact on the amount of warrior QQ threads, but alas, tis the life of guild wars 2. I would also like to acknowledge the admirable acts of The Captain Groucharoo, for his efforts in trying to save the undeserving NA Community, but I urge thee to abandon the sinking ship and save yourself. I would also like to extend a “good luck” to our comrades across in the atlantic in the sons of stalin, the foul european fiends such as Denshee, and the future pharaoh of egypt, Prince Vanish. And I would like to end with a quote by the great Admiral Hiba:

I just wanted to make something very, very clear.

Giving us more HP does nothing to solve the problem of staying in a fight, but it does provide an excuse to kick the bucket down the road a little further.

While I do believe the devs have the best intention towards the class, I feel like they are so scared to buff warriors and make them OP, that they are purposely taking far to much time to make any changes exceptionally note worthy.

If our damage is the issue, nerf our damage.
Then buff the areas where they’re needed.

The brainstorming is done. Nerf the damage so its not a game breaking change in PvE / WvW. Buff the utility and usefulness of skills to bring them in line with other classes.

Love conversations about me when im not in the conversation.

For the record. The issue with warriors is simply AoE meta and thus our lackluster performance in melee range.

More HP isn’t a solution. Its an answer someone gives when they are in a pinch and have no response.

I’d be happy to talk on SOTG regarding warriors, im no dev fanboy, hell in the past I’ve been hyper critical.

But there are plenty of qualified warriors, Schwar, Bry, Tarcis, K Pop. Coincidentally we all play together and converse almost daily, so im fairly certain our responses will generally be the same.

Imo, the community should just pick one of us that will represent the class in not only an honorable way, but also a forward and proactive manor.

If you all want me, I’d be happy to. Ill also field questions and thoughts from the community to ask.

Original design of banners was to paint gruesome pictures on them and then plant them into your dead opponents orifices for their comrades to view. ArenaNet assumed this would force the other team to play worse because of how disgusting their corpses were treated.

Then PR got involved and figured it would be ‘PC’. Now we have no roll in PvP.

Yeah, but not critting with rush/whirlwind/Arcing Arrow hurts a bit…

But you are right, maybe I’m a bit too concerned about seeing that big number.

You also need to factor in stat DR.
Going from 20% crit chance +20% = 40%.
But going from +40% to mid 60’s, and they dont give the full number you expect.

You mean… dminishing returns in +% damage increase, right?

That as well as +crit chance increase (Crit chance).

However, I was thinking… how many access to teleport do thieves have in tournaments? Is there the risk I bait their teleport, immobilize them, and they can just evade/teleport again?

They have a lot of teleports, far more than 1. Expect like 3.

I wouldnt swap sword for Axe unless your role was to sit near home point / mid point.

If you go GS your burst will be higher but your survivability will be lower. Pick your poisen.

I like it! Could work, I’d recommend seeing how feasible the damage numbers from GS would be. Possibly testing it in tournies etc.

Ok, I tried it in some hotjoin (still to scared to bring it into a tourney).

I managed to down a decent necro, I guess.

But Mesmer are just off limits: the battle lasts a lot, but they heal more than I do. But maybe it’s my fault and I’m too scared to go near.

I realized Arcing slice is not so bad to apply some extra spike to the damage. Do you think it might be back to give up rune of hoelbrak for rune of lyssa, dropping my power to 1830?

And I also realized I need signet of stone more than endure pain. So yeah, I’m basically a signet warrior.XD

However, not getting critical is a bit annoying. I might need to swap Soldier’s amulet for berserker, then use rune of melandru. Or Hoelbrak and soldier’s jewel.

I’ve been running the build exactly as listed in the OP with Zerker amy Valkyrie jewel and Hoelbreak runes and so far I have not had any issues with Mesmers with the build. Even dueled a pretty good shatter mesmer in my guild a few times.

Running it with Soldier and such may be your reason…the build seemed (at least to me) to be about bringing targets down quickly. Losing all that crit and crit damage is going to remove your ability to basically insta-kill the mesmer once they are half HP.

Was pretty priceless in the first duel with guildie…he pulled off a stealth when he was low but I tried to predict movement and threw a final thrust out at the air. On TS I hear “WTF was that?! 6.7k!”

While I am at full adrenaline (I replete it quickly if I use it) I have:

31% base crit chance.

+20% with fury

+15% with Heightened focus

= 66% crit chance.

And 35% crit damage.

They are not much lower, I guess.

However, seems like that crit chance is really too low. Just changing that to Berserker’s Amulet makes everything easier.

Stupid class, forcing us only on one amulet.

I would also average out Heightened Focus because you’re not going to be sitting at 100% adren all the time. So It’s fair to say 7.5% +crit is your average from that.

Then factor in Fury uptime vs. downtime, if it’s uptime is 30 seconds on a 48sec cd (SoR), thats 62.5% uptime, which is an average of 12.5% + crit.

So your real crit chance (on average) is more like:
31% base crit chance.

+12.5% with fury

+7.5% with Heightened focus

= 51% crit chance.

I also have furious reaction, though.

And I can optimize fury uptime by using SoR at the beginning of combat.

I still wouldn’t peg it at +20% 100% of the time. Maybe +17-18% if you include furious, but they may overlap and fights may last longer then expected.

You also need to factor in stat DR.

Alright i have tried the longbow + sword,shield build. And it actually is pretty fun to play but..

It is useless vs thiefs… when they target me, and i hear.. TICK TICK TICK 4k,5k,5k dead

they go stealth and finish me.

For the rest, ye its pretty fun to play with it.

But with the same playstyle, a thief has more damage, and more survivability.

Warrior is really useless.

If you play LB S/Sh right, burst thieves should be among the easiest classes for you to beat.

I would also average out Heightened Focus because you’re not going to be sitting at 100% adren all the time. So It’s fair to say 7.5% +crit is your average from that.

Then factor in Fury uptime vs. downtime, if it’s uptime is 30 seconds on a 48sec cd (SoR), thats 62.5% uptime, which is an average of 12.5% + crit.

So your real crit chance (on average) is more like:
31% base crit chance.

+12.5% with fury

+7.5% with Heightened focus

= 51% crit chance.

Alright that makes sense. So if I’m trying to get more dps out of it, something like:

0/25/25/10/10 would be better. Since you get 10% from bleeds, 150 power, and 5% of tough is power. I’m not too worried about Furious.

depends on how much toughness you have, if your sitting between 1300-1500, thats a power boost of like 57-60 power

Or you can get +5% crit damage and have fast hands.

Seeing as how I can’t play this class without fast hands anymore, that would be my suggestion.

I also won’t play a Longbow build without Furious simply put, stick it on a point and in 6 seconds you’re at full adren again and ready for the cooldown to finish. That sort of consistency to play the F1 down (which is arguably your biggest damage dealer), is important to me.

20% under 50% is not a good way to measure damage.

That means you’re purposely trying to sit below that number, which is extremely unwise in PvP. The only time that it could possibly work to boost your damage is if you were in the last throws / moments of your ‘life’. But at that point you should be disengaging or trying to bide time for your heal.

150 power is great sure, but +20% damage at almost a 100% uptime at 66% chance to crit (76% if with sword). Not even factoring in DOTE damage since, like Desperate Power. The +20% through bleed and crit damage wins out on a consistent damage boost.

Then you also are ditching Furious which is extremely important for a Longbow build in order to sustain F1 placements every 8 seconds.

Edit:
I’m most certain now. In the above analysis I was considering the 20% I’m running as +20% crit damage, when in reality it is +10% Damage, +10% Crit Damage. This skews the consistency numbers even further for the current build.

Been playing around with this. Pretty much the same build, but I think it’ll give you a higher dps output. But I’m not good with all the number crunching :P

Defektive have you considered using para sigil on shield to increase the shieldbash duration to 2s(or close to 2 atleast)?

I both like and dislike it.

Like: Can land Final Thrust easier.
Like: Obviously a longer stun.

Dislike: Only applies to one attack on one weapon.

Bloodlust provides + damage across the board.

Where do I weigh it? IDK. Needs more testing to determine how often I have full bloodlust up vs. not.

They have a lot of teleports, far more than 1. Expect like 3.

I wouldnt swap sword for Axe unless your role was to sit near home point / mid point.

If you go GS your burst will be higher but your survivability will be lower. Pick your poisen.

I agree longbow is more viable and more useful, but for players who don’t like the playstyle Hammer still can be of use.

Necros do have stun breaks, but they are very limited. Their main source of Stability also handicaps them to an extent so it really comes down to playing intelligently and working alongside your teammates.

When I mentioned Hammer as being viable, I did not say it was paired with Longbow. The hammer build is a separate build.

I really don’t recommend running Hammer + ranged weapon, but Hammer Sword Shield is viable against teams where they run limited stun breaks or stability (Necros).

Currently, everyones running Necros due to their buffs. Hammer is very solid against them. When the ‘meta’ settles out and people stop running 2-3 necros, you’ll see Hammer no longer become viable. Hence why I originally mentioned it has a limited time frame to be useful.

Hammer is viable RIGHT NOW but only for a limited time:
Everyone is rerolling or trying necros which hammer is great against.
I think in this limited window it can be used well, however when things even out again it will be more difficult to run competitively due to lack of aoe and the sheer amount of stunbreaks other classes have.

I agree that longbow wasn’t the method I expected to play when I picked up GW2, but when life gives you lemons…..

Apologies for the poor grammar, wrote this on my tablet.

I’m gonna jump in and say I don’t see Hammer as being viable right now outside of a bunker/supportish build.

Simply put, it’s a weapon that relies too much on stuns, a mechanic that’s relatively easy to hard counter. Hammer has no mobility, no defense, telegraphed attacks, and lackluster DPS. Where it really shines is control, and it can deliver quite a significant burst if you can chain several attacks together. If you catch someone out without stun breakers or stability, hammer ruins them utterly and completely… But if someone pops stability or has a couple stun breakers to break your combo, you’re left high and dry.

This is especially noticeable in WvW, where mobility is paramount, but even in PvP it’s quite painful.

And that’s the problem. Catching up to people with the hammer is hard enough, but when you do, if they can avoid it, pop stability, or break the telegraphed stuns you’re left with a very subpar weapon. And, of course, if you need to run away it lacks any mobility whatsoever.

Apologies, I should have clarified since my experience with hammer may be different.

I run Hammer Sword Shield so mobility and setting up immobs to combo into a stun isn’t very difficult.

Hammer by itself or with most other weapon sets is difficult to land and or use consistently. However it is uniquely situated with Sword X to perform admirably.
