So, what armor are you guys using with this build? Straight up zerker or you’re going for Rampager/Carrion for more condition dmg?

I don’t recommend going Condition damage.

Can you explain to me what is wrong with it? From what I understand these are the advantages I see;

I’m not a fan of Leg Specialist anymore. It used to be my fave trait. The ‘randomness’ to it makes it unappealing to me. I try to stick to traits, weapons etc. that will perform on the spot as I require them to. There may be an instance where I need an immobolize but Leg Specialist is on CD. Moments like those give me a bad vibe.

Desperate Power is ok, I was testing it on patch day. I don’t like the concept of gaining more damage for being under a certain HP%. It forces me to save my heals so I gain that 20% but in reality, doing just that will probably cause me to lose the fight if I take a sudden burst.

Opportunist is good, synergizes well with Leg Spec.

I think without the +Crit damage from Discipline your damage may be sub par. And all you’re really gainign for that is an immob and more fury. But with Sig of Rage we already have Fury uptime near 100%. And longbow / Sword already provide Immobs. Not sure if the trade off is worth it.

Utilities are solid but I wouldn’t use Sig of Fury, you already have a ton of +crit chance and methods to gain adren.

Your build may be better suited for Hammer.

If I read correctly you have Sigil of Fire and Sigil of Energy in one weapon-set. One of those sigils won’t proc. because they have both an ICD in its description. Mabye I missed a secret patch. . . But in my knowledge this won’t work hand in hand.

So basically when you swap to sword/shield you have to wait 9 seconds before the flame-blast can trigger. In my opinion there are better sigil options out there instead of this one.

Sigil of Energy isn’t a proc and, therefore, doesn’t follow the same rules.

The Longbow is the kitten of legends right now. It has been for some time, actually. The game revolves around people throwing random AoE crap around and then dodging and dancing, going invulnerable and invisible every 3 seconds. We can’t go invulnerable or invisible, but we can throw our own AoE crap, so that tumbling Thief or teleporting cloning Mesmer will still get their feet burned and we won’t be running around, guessing where they are, swathing at empty space, missing because of blinds and blocks.

This build also has a condition damage element, allowing to better combat bunkers and other Protection stackers, as well as the new Weakness.

Besides, this build has its hilarious moments too. I fought a Necro, who prepared to set up show with wells and marks to do his usual anti-Warrior business, but instead got Pin Down+Arcing Shot for 1/3 of his health and it all was downhill for the poor kitten from there. A lot of people actually aren’t ready to face a Warrior like that. For once, the Warrior class can actually make people play by his own rules, forcing enemies to retreat or suffer great punishment.

So yeah, try it, folks. The Longbow is quite nice.

Energy is a swap sigil so it does share cd with proc sigils, unless it’s bugged ofc.
Just tested to be 100% sure, IT DOES SHARE CD like it’s supposed to…

So you’re saying Cleansing Ire made us tPvP viable? Because aside from that trait, this build was already capable of existing.

Yes and no.

Before this patch, going 20 pts into defense while running longbow didnt make sense, there were choices that were stronger overall (Berserkers Power for example).

No one had an incentive to try it or to use it because the numbers showed that going into a more damage focused build resulted in better results.

In steps the patch
—————-
Longbow base range increased to 1000 (this is pretty solid so far).
Cleansing ire proccing every 8 seconds (yay Longbow F1).
Movement of Shield Mastery to adept trait.

The bottom two points indicated that going into Defense in order to gain 290 toughness (when using a Shield + 200 from the trait line) as well as 3 condi removal every 8 seconds (more if you use sword F1) could be a profitable endeavor.

Once you commit to 20 points in defense you have only one direction you can go, build a little more toughness so that you have more staying power (hey, you’re investing 20pts into it already right?). In comes Dolyak Signet, Valk jewel.

My base toughness with shield sits around 1500.


So while yes the build had the potential to exist before hand, there was no reason to try it, thus it never occurred. New patch however opened up some possibilities.

Got a question, why do you use runes of hoelberk? and wait, the AoE flame blast… stays, and gives burning?

Ok so I’ll kind of explain more:

Longbow benefits more from +Power and +Crit Damage than it does +Condition Damage.

Longbow F1 at 3/3 Adren, lasts 8 seconds, it’s cooldown is 8 seconds as well.

Each second it ticks for 1 attack of Burn, and 1 Attack of ‘Ignite’

-Burn is standard condi damage, expect 400-500 dmg tick.
-Ignite is affected by Power and Crit Damage. Expect around 1k crits.

Factor in 30pts in Percision – Crits give you Adren. And suddenly a Longbow F1 pays for itself in 3-4 seconds of being on the field, giving you full adren again. Allowing you to place it immediately afterwards.


Hoelberk:
I don’t care about the +Might as much as I care about the +Power and -20% Condition Duration.

That’s duration applied to YOU, as in, a 1second burning on you lasts .8 seconds.

When playing with Scholar I found that I lacked enough condition mitigation.
When playing with Lyssa I found I was to easily punished for gaining every boon (necros slapped me around).
If i went Melandru then my damage felt underpowered.

Hoelberk hit that nice sweet spot right in the middle, maintaining my damage and providing more condition mitigation.

Forgive me for not watching the whole vid, can’t at the moment, but does cleansing ire also activate for each pulse of the burning fire field? That would be awesome indeed, and have some great implications for wvw. Would be OP though…

Negative it does not (I wish), but if you’re having a good fight you should be able to cast 2 or 3 adren bars worth of F1’s every 8 seconds. It’s a good deal of condi cleanse.

You should run lyssa runes and ditch valk gem.

To much of a DPS decrease and you lose -% condi duration.

Lyssa isn’t great right now due to the influx of necros, one corrupt boon and it’s GG.

Take your hate elseware, or bring your own ingenuity to the boards instead of fostering a destructive environment. I post my builds because it’s something I enjoy doing, many people enjoy them which keeps me positive to keep going.

Myself, and others like me, aren’t going to stop because you’re having a tissy fit and need a time out.

The problem is your using a longbow and the longbow follows a trend similar to the other classes. The reliability is just too high to foster an interactive game. Warrior has better not join the ranks of the other classes, then this is truly a casual game.

Let’s be honest. We aren’t doing great in tPvP. Most of it is because the game right now revolves around less single target, more AoE.

The sooner we come to that conclusion, the faster we can create builds and concepts designed to take advantage of it.

Otherwise we’re bringing a hammer to a blind fight. Which hasn’t worked out for us so far.

It still doesn’t do enough damage. The concept you’re referring to is so bad.

Lets think this through.

I’m going to lay down a strong AoE burn field.

Then get in the middle of it where presumably my enemies are.

And then spin in circles and hope no one touches me.

While also doing sub-par DPS.

Edit:

If it did more damage or had projectile reflect or something like that, then it would be viable for more things than longbow.

There’s a trait missing in Defense, master tier… Which I’m guessing you picked Cleansing Ire. This build is quite similar to what i’ve been playing arround with lately, except for a few details… Mainly in utility skills (i was leaning towards berserker), and also I’ve been trying out runes of lyssa (remove all conditions when you use an elite).

I’ll give your version a try once i get home.

Just to clarify:

It’s actually significantly cheaper than a sub fee. The $20 you spend is the initial cost. It could also cost $10 + Gold, or no money at all if you have enough gold.

Once you have a server, it costs 480 gems for 20 days, 960 for 40 days, 1440 for 60 days. That’s less than $10/mo if only one person is supporting the server. Anyone can apply time to servers. Also, don’t forget you can convert gold to gems.

TLDR:

You caught me when I was mosing around with a gimpy sword/mace mace/shield build seeing if I could sacrafice sustain in favor of mace F1 being better.

Didn’t work out well.

I’m having my best success with 0/0/30/10/30 Hammer sword shield.

Will also be testing 10/0/30/0/30 s/s Hammer today when I’m off work.

I’m also co-leading the NA Warrior team in the SOAC Prof tournament with K Pop today at 7pmish eastern. So I’ll do some tournament streaming after running the hammer builds.

People get Warrior’s Sprint (at least I do) because you keep that 25% move speed increase while in combat. Swiftness move speed buff doesn’t work if you’re in combat. At least this makes Warriors harder to kite, especially with the added Dogged March.

Anyways, just my two cents. (:

When someone hits you while you’re in Swiftness, you lose the move speed increase whereas Warrior’s Sprint move speed increase stays with you even when you’re in combat.

This is incorrect.

You have an out of combat (ooc) movement speed, and an in combat movement speed.

Swiftness in terms of its movement speed gain, isn’t affected by this, it’s just the different changes in movement depending on if you’re in combat.

I don’t recommend anyone picking up the +25% movement speed considering how easy it is to spam SoR.

Not a sPVP player, but would like to use a custom arena for WvW training. Would like to know if it is possible to use the same gear and traits used in WvW for the custom arenas?

You can recreate your WvW build in the Heart of the Mists, and use that build in custom arenas.

Yes, you can test your WvW builds in custom arenas because all gear, all traits, all sigils and runes are available to be used in PvP.

Pretty sure he wanted to use his gear from WvW and the trait differences (Some WvW skills preform differently than HOTM skills).

Please consider that not all classes attack at the speed of light.

For those that can, Blinds meant nothing to them.

For Warriors where our survivability is now tied to our Burst on a 10sec CD (it has to land), and that many of our weapon attacks have a .5-1second cast time (even auto attacks). Blinds are extremely detrimental to our ability to even land many attacks.

Once you factor in the speed at which blinds can be re-applied it only makes it more difficult for us now to land utilities, burst or even certain auto attacks.

2. For 15s CD damage is not so impressive. With 30/0/0/10/30 I tested (Berserker Power, full adrenaline, being <50% for Desperate Power, enemy <50%) highest crit I got was 8,9k. I still find this skill quite clunky. It’s easy to see, so often gets evaded unless enemy is stunned/immobilized (guess Shield Bash helps you there).

Don’t think of it as just another attack.

I like to do a lot of combo / juggling builds (hammer preferrably). I can usually combo someone into Final Thrust without much resistance. Those sweet sweet 7k+ crits are very satisfying.

1) Cleansing Ire: If you get used to using your F1 skills on cooldown, you’ll notice that Conditions aren’t that huge of a problem anymore. They are still irritating, but not the be all end all.

2) Final Thrust has opened up some impressive burst to otherwise tanky builds.

3) Berserker Stance is absolutely hillarious against Necros.

4) Desperate Power is very viable now.

5) DOTE + Burst Mastery = Great damage even when built tanky.

6) Weakness, sweet sweet weakness. It’s so strong now if you can constantly apply it.

I really recommend people play with Weakness + Cleansing Ire more, you’ll find you have much higher survivability than you probably can anticipate!

I remember you clinging to me all the time in combat, but a shrug from my auto attack would dispense of you. Yet the speed at which you were applied to me made it seem balanced (all be it, difficult with slow weapons).

I’d say your 0/0/30/10/30 Hammer and sword build actually got buffed if we do some modification.

25% run speed Warrior’s Sprint and maybe using DotE instead of Mobile Strikes. No more AoE Leg specialist but with hamstring, dogged, and Sprint I think avoiding being kited might be a thing now.

Berserker’s Stance may be my new Sigil of Stamina because it’ll make Backbreaker and Earthshaker easier to land.

I’m pretty sure it got buffed as well. Let me play around with the numbers and get back to you on that. I’m thinking swapping out shield for Warhorn due to Weakness being so strong now.

Yes, but….. but but but does it removed the condys before the ability lands or after. that’ll be the thing that needs answered.

Knowing how Burst works, if the attack lands then the Adren bars are spent AFTER the attack has been landed.

So I would chock it up to be the condi’s will be removed AFTER.

I’m missing something here. when did healing surge use adrenaline? is that changing soon too?

Gives adren not uses.

The remove condi is when we gain a bar of adren not use it.

So if you use Healing surge and gain 3 bars, you’ll also lose 3 condis (hypothetically).

so you don’t spend any adren when using it so it means no condition remove….?

correct.

It also means you wont get healed for more.

The trait actually works against itself when comparing it to Healing Surge.

On one hand you want to have the least amount of Adren in order to remove the most condis.

However, you want to have the most adren when you heal so the heal is larger.

Defektive is MIA atm i think. But we couldn’t play duo war seriously in this state.

Not MIA. I’m in the throws of getting engaged so I’ve been allocating my time to that (getting appraisals, getting certifications, getting everything ready). Sneaking around and doing these things puts a damper on my GW2 schedule, especially when you work full time as an high level manager.

This should have been a Warrior condition to make us more appealing, instead of providing this condition to every other class that already has a million conditions.

Plus it makes sense, punish people trying to flee a melee class.

I wouldn’t leap in joy just yet.

The condition removal on burst was precluded with hints towards grandmaster traits.

If that’s true, it’s a 30 pt trait thats going to define our burst condi removal. This could potentially just throw us into one build once again.

I was thinking… what about adding some ways to stack 15+ Might stacks, using 2x Runes of Hoelbrak, Fire and Strength, Sigil of Battle and fire combo fields?

Do you think it may help with damage?

And what weapon would you suggest with it?

It may or may not work but then you need to take into account how hyper aware you’re going to need to be of the fight in order to take advantage of something like that.

I think on paper it sounds amazing but in practice it’s hard to pull off. Then you gave up a bunch of things to get a tradeoff that isn’t 100% working.
