Can’t argue with the fact that everyone recruits and welcomes new talent, that’s for sure. However, if you’re going to make a convincing argument, I wouldn’t include the folks that jumped ship off DB as assets to help BG – if anything, they’re just drama magnets. xD

We noticed the same thing on SoS last week. We would have done much better against TC but FA would not under any circumstance put pressure on you guys, unless TC gave them no choice. FA does not like going after the server in the lead. I don’t know what kind of strategy this is, but whatevs.

Anyway, I agree that DE is awesome, but mandatory? Nah. Phantasm builds likely would avoid it, and I don’t like it with the WvW roaming build that I use (I don’t want a clone showing where I am if I dodge while stealthed). Still, out of the 20-point Dueling traits, it’s likely going to be taken more often than others.

Yeah, their SEA is awesome, that’s for sure. Our SEA and Oceanics have done a stellar job this week against crazy odds! All three servers are pretty evenly matched in NA, although I think TC has the numbers edge in that time slot. It’s been a really fun week!

Awesome fight with JQ in TCBL Garrison a bit ago. We were outmanned for a long time with the map completely silent except for camp flips, figured you had to swarm somewhere sooner or later!

It was pretty touch and go until we got you sealed in, then it was a war of attrition. Great fight, and had no clue there was so much fun to be had at 5am my time! LOL

Yeah, we were outmanned the entire time we were in FABL. Sure made for some fun fights – and we got to kamikaze quite a bit due to no repair bills. And to be equally honest, FA wasn’t only running in a crazy zergball (edit – no offense, we knew it was a militia ball, happens to us sometimes as well since people tend to latch on to whoever can get them kills lol) – we ran into quite a few groups running about the same size as us. We just kept trying to get under your skin and do the same stuff to your big groups that you guys do to ours – run ’em ragged, keep ’em guessing, and try to pick the best fights we can. ;-)

Really fun night, that’s for sure.

Fun night in TCBL (when we were 5-man roaming) and then later in FABL. It would seem the server zerg strat is starting to go away, saw a bunch more roaming folks tonight.

Of course, we did get hit a few times by zergballs, but hey, at least it wasn’t every single fight.

I disagree completely. FA fights. IMHO, FA is tons more fun than DB to face. They just don’t have the numbers/coverage to compete in PPT.

Just to toss in my .02, iWarden works great most of the time in ZvZ too. Pick a target in the middle of their ball, and you’ll get a bunch of tags for it most likely. Plus, the ranged opponents frequently shoot in the zergball collision, so if it’s traited, your warden will get reflect tags as well.

FA is still strong – TC and DB both gained some guilds, though. Before that, T2 was usually a close race between FA, TC, and DB.

It actually happened. DB complained about an imagined 2v1 so much that we actually made it happen – it’s what made most of the bad FA and TC blood go away, and it was huge fun besides!

Build videos are a waste of my time. I check out every single topic for builds that gets posted (that’s why I’m looking at this post right now). With a link, I can scan the build in about 5-10 seconds and see if it’s going to work for my playstyle, and if so, I can spend more time pulling the build apart to figure out what makes it tick.

With a video, I’m constrained to spending whatever time you think appropriate, when I’m not even sure if I’m interested in the build or not.

So, for me, videos aren’t worth it and I don’t waste my time watching them – and I would assume that your intent is for me (and everyone else) to check out your build. If that’s the case, yeah, you should probably build a link.

However, if your intent is just to make videos (you mentioned you like making them), make some of you fighting in WvW and post those. I’ll probably watch those.

I won’t watch build vids, and I’d bet that I’m not the only one.

I’m gonna be honest and say TC is very good at supply management and defending with skeleton crews (A T1 level in this regard), but there are a lot of other area’s were TC is still playing like a sub T6 server.

As a whole your server has specs and gear more suited for cof, you guys are so squishy and thats one of the reasons equal numbered fights dont go your way. You guys need to learn how to use havoc squads and multiple commanders instead of trying to accomplish everything with one large zerg. You don’t need an 80 man to take a camp or to stop 4 people with 1 ram banging on a tower.

Other than that do some open field training, get your militia involved and practice, send 15 against 30 just to see how you do and how to improve. If you keep running back to those arrow carts you will never learn what you need to learn to hold your own in T1

Generalizations are silly, but thanks for the suggestions anyway.

Bottom line, in individual fights, SoS and FA are both fun servers to be up against, and some groups are pretty skilled. As far as bringing motivation for TC as a server to “get better”, though… well, the challenge just isn’t there. With the random matchups, we may get a T1 server for a week or two, but most likely not for enough time for us to adapt and knock the rust off.

So, again, thanks for the suggestions… I just think they’re a bit pointless.

LOL makes me laugh TC keeps saying they enjoy open field fight, but ONLY when they have superior numbers. Otherwise they will sit in towers and use seige, I didnt see TC do many reg open field fights vs SoR for that reason. You keep claiming u want them yet you continue to only do them when you have the numbers to win the fight with ease. Also double teaming the weaker server every day now shows us you like to contradict what you say.

Point is TC has bigger numbers so you enjoy open fighting without seige bacause u know u will win and have a nice bag farm, no skill (from most of the pugs) just numbers.

I made a prediction to myself on how many forum warriors would respond like this to my post saying thanks for the fun fight. Obviously, you weren’t there for that really fun fight, but thanks for the input.

I’m not actually sure you can fix this matchup. FA has the numbers and coverage of a mega t2 server, yet lacks the skill to stay there (it gets stomped into the ground.) But since they have such swamping numbers, ever other server below suffers.

Funny how I can change two words in your post and probably offend a ton of completely new people. Using your logic, FA must lack the skill to compete in T2, much like TC lacks the skill to compete in T1, right?

You must be new to GW2. It’s coverage that sorts tiers, not skill. There’s a bit of a coverage gap between T2 and T1 that you may be unaware of.

Edit – just to be clear, the point of my post here is to say that, 99% of the time, coverage is what wins the points game for the week (and that’s exactly what is happening in our matchup this week). My experience in Dub v Dub this week is that FA and SoS are bringing fun, competitive fights, just like always.

Huh, I have the exact opposite opinion. For example, I run a 0/20/30/20/0 interrupt build for zerging, works really well for me.

My point is that if you’re in a zerg, you should NEVER drop Feedback and Veil (swap to Portal for golem rushes). This means that 2 utilities out of 3 are locked, and in glamour.

(and if you’re not carring at very least Veil, you’re zerging wrong.)

Not trying to get in your face (okay, maybe a little, you’re coming across as a bit pretentious), but if you’re thinking that there’s only one way to play a mesmer in a zerg, you may want to surf these forums for some extra ideas, my friend. There are quite a few ways for a mesmer to be successful and useful to the group that don’t require a glamour setup (not to mention that glamour setups don’t do damage for squat anymore).

I run veil, but not feedback most of the time (veil, blink, and signet of inspiration are my normal choices), and I seem to do pretty well for myself in my guild group. Feedback doesn’t fit my style of play, and veil doesn’t get thrown in the enemy group – therefore, the glamour traits are useless to me. Add on the fact that confusion doesn’t hurt much anymore, and we can see why there are very few glamour mesmers, at least among my server and the ones I’ve faced.

There are quite a few options for zerging that can work well if they suit your playstyle.

Still, back on the original topic, I know that better mesmers than me have made glamour builds since the confusion nerf – however, I’m still of the opinion that they’re pretty weak.

IMO, getting a rabid set is worthwhile – condi mesmers are fun to play, and the high toughness is nice. From what I’ve seen, though, glamour mesmers are going extinct. Confusion is nice as extra dmg, but glamour mesmers used to rely on it as a main source of dmg and pressure. That’s definitely not the case now.

Long story short, glamour isn’t the way to go.

I’ve been following this thread diligently for the updates – just wanted to say thanks for all the testing and effort you’ve been putting into this, Duck (or do you go by Boom?).

It’s only 2 days into the match up and already learned that ebay are some pretty sore losers….already have like 5 people guesting to talk kitten in our lions arch, classy work fellas.

Would you do us the courtesy of assuming they do not speak on behalf of the server as a whole. I suspect I know the names several of the people who do this, most of which are professional trolls. AR would do this to us for weeks, it gets the non WvW population and PvC people all riled up, which is actually kind of amusing for the hardcore WvW people and trolls.

I’m not saying it as a whole server, but in the 10 months playing I’ve not seen any other server do this to that extent, and the ones that did, it was usually only 1 person, not an entire group of people.

Boo. The torch trait would be much more appealing to me if it was a condition clear rather than just a single condition removal.

I don’t have a link to my build atm (posting from my phone), but I run a 0/20/30/20/0 build with a few pieces of PVT armor to boost my health a bit. That build seems to work well for both roaming (has enough condi dmg to hurt, and can trait prismatic understanding and the scepter trait for more condi dmg) and for ZvZ for when I’m with my guild group (I swap out Prismatic Understanding for Bountiful Interruptions as might is easy to come by in a ZvZ, swap the torch for focus, and trait the focus for reflects). The only sad part is that I can’t trait the torch with that build.

I think ME hadn’t done any groups since Rekka was on vacation, or you would probably like them too. Dunno how much you’ve seen of RP (smaller group) or VR but they’re also both good. In fact some TC were more impressed by VR than us, sooo. We have a lot of good, organized groups (some of which may not have been mentioned), but they don’t/can’t come out in force every day.

Thanks. The only ME that I’ve seen in numbers this week have been part of a massive blob with tons of other guilds, which would indicate a non-guild group for sure. Haven’t seen VR (although I’ve seen numerous posts this week saying they’re good) or RP, hopefully we’ll have the chance to see them this week.

This is an interesting viewpoint, imho. Out of the guild groups that I’ve seen this week, only D!ERP and PYRO stick out in my mind as really challenging from Mags. I’m sure a large part of the “we own most of everything” during NA prime could be explained by a discussion on server population, but outside of the two guilds I’ve mentioned, haven’t seen much from Mags during NA that was particularly noteworthy.

It would appear that our experiences this week have been very different, as I don’t think the current matchup has exposed any flaws in our NA at all.

If it actually adds 5 stack per intterupt then that’s incredible. I’m definitely traiting it for WvW. I’m thinking of going perhaps with a GS/Staff, 20(II,X)/20(II,X)/30(IV,VIII,X or XI)/0/0, hybrid build. I’ll prolly stick with Runes of the Centaur and perhaps some boon duration food.

As ANet tends to do with tooltips, the wording is really vague for BI. They don’t specify the number of stacks of might (which, through testing, is five), so technically, the tooltip is correct. Poorly worded, but correct.

Just a couple quick notes on specifically how I’m playing this so that others can compare.

I have four main ways to interrupt:
– Greatsword 5 (wave)
– Pistol 5 (magic bullet)
– Shatter F3
– Mantra of distraction

I’m quite sure that Into the Void can proc interrupts.

I’m pretty sure he’s just talking about his particular build, which doesn’t use the focus. However, it’d probably be worthwhile (to me at least!) to discuss what skills we have that can provide interrupts – like chaos storm, for example, which seems to work pretty well in a ZvZ situation. Any other skills we haven’t mentioned?

This is true. All servers here have gone through, but i feel it is fair to say that TC has had to deal with it less then all and will continue to win. The way it is set up now, BG/JQ/SoR will have a 50/50 chance of getting each other, with TC stacking itself more and more, i feel it is safe to say that we will never have balanced “tier 2” matchup again.

This saddens me for two reasons. 1) New guilds will change the way the community is, 2) when TC wins, their forum trolls come out in force

The OG of TC i have much respect for but unfortunately, there are no OG’s left of any server. Old guilds die and new ones are born so they people that stood with TC during those times, i doubt they are the majority anymore.

Most guilds that transfer to TC are looking for an easy win 3 out of 4 match ups imo
