There are some several rules of good behavior, or how do I call it:
Don’t put light field on the gates, only fire
Use only water on stack,
Light on the move etc
Generally it is hard to see while fight what combo fields are placed, no matter if they have different or same visual effects. So if you put a light field under water on stack, bad play by you.

But honestly with the huge amount of AoE condi clear from shoutbows, Healing Turrets, Virtues of Resolve, etc., I find the usefulness of Balthazar Runes to be questionable! If your burns are constantly being removed before they benefit from the extra burn duration, doesn’t that lessen or even negate the value of extra burn duration? I think so!
100 power is nothing, and additional 5.75 sec burning is > 1 dodge for me.
as Veewee said – there is a lot of cleanese theese days, so more sources of re-applying (not just stacking duration) burning is improving your wining chances
yea, and no water field, no team support, and awful mechanics when u have to die to get healed… to die 3 seconds later :P
if you fight 3+vs1 it wouldnt help you, and there is no other reason to die ))
Seems like you would do a better job if you had just cele or condi build, and that may help your team get a W

1) immobilise your target – then hit it hard
2) knockdown your target – then hit it hard
3) come melee/close range – hit it on the move
4) let them tail you(kite) – hit your feet
5) hit Shadow Refuge – hit thief
6) let your teammates tank, and hit those who attack them
7) hit all projectile reflects with nades#5 only

You really do misunderstand. Map selects from voted results with votes count probability.
So if u have 9 votes for kilo and 1 for skyhammer, you get so with 10% chance

@robertul there is no perma ret neigher in sfr blobs, not in fsp, not in kodash etc. you can die from anynithing – from train, ret from ft#1 or even fallin damage if you want.
badges (or tokens i dont care much) are just for gift for your legendary. runin dungeons for other reasons becomes boring very fast.
zerker armor is 173 (of about 3k) power, 79 (of 1.8k) precesion and 79(of 0.8) ferosity more than cele. and has 156 less in other 4 stats, has no other places then pve dungeon fast runs… why not assasins than?

Celestial is not fine in dungeons it’s pure kitten. For wvw you can replace the trinkets with defensive stuff since those are super easy to acquire.
Most “roamers” in wvw are so bad you can kill them with the standard dungeon meta build.
In zergs you will probably die from retaliation if you use grenades and for bombs you have to be close to the cc hammer train which is not feasible either. You can’t gank the backlines like a thief either.
1) you can go dungeons even with soldier. dungeons do not need infusions. dungueons need nothing – just turn the corner and kill the boss
2) cele is better in solo pve (silverwastes), wvw roaming, u can go cele to wvw blobs easy with nades or ft, story acheivments are easier with cele too
3) if you dont know how to play engi in blobs, just dont give advices :P
4) roamers in top tier are different from whom you met i guess
5) zerker exotic not that much different from acsended, and you need it only for 500 dungeon badges (if u dont get them from pvp)
as for weapon – dont craft ascended(it costs u 500+ gold), try to get legendary asap

Okay, the only time I’ve ever been pwned in seconds is by two thieves, full burst, at the same time.
If they lock me down with CC, I get protection (-33% damage) and the CC is -25% as long. I can almost always survive the damage. It’s very, very rare for me to get bursted down without dropping out of stun. Note that I have an AoE blind usable while stunned, which can help mitigate the damage.
Once I pop out of stun, I can heal 11k in a matter of a few seconds (1k from leech, 5k from turret, 4k from blast finishers, 1k from regen). All of that is on a 20s cooldown.
Now, at this point, I can dodge 3-5 times in the first several seconds of the fight. Timed right, that can clearly mitigate a lot of damage.
I also have three knockbacks and a 2s immobilize, which can really lock them down. Since this is a hypothetical fight against a CC-lock burst player, let’s look at the damage I can do in just a few seconds:
This rotation: Mine -> Leap -> Blunderbuss -> Overcharged Shot -> Fire Blast (including Incendiary Ammo and sigil of leeching) will average something like 18k to an enemy with 2k armor. They’ll get up just as the Blunderbuss hits, but the moment that hits you fire OS (which is instant) and knock them over so they eat your Fire Blast.
Of course, they’ll probably have at least one stun break. But keep in mind that I have a third knockback and an immobilize to help control them. I just wanted to demonstrate that this build has a strong burst rotation of its own. It’s not burst-thief strong, of course, but it’s strong in its own right. Keep in mind that most of those skills are AoE. This build’s single-target damage is good but not incredible; it’s not just for single-target damage, it’s for AoE pressure, high mobility, and lots of control. Team up with a burst character, and my CC will let them get free, easy kills.
:) i know how engi skills work, but to knockback someone he should be in front of you. why would thief stay in front of you, unless he is afk? so you can only hit him with mine and JS… and that wouldnt ever kill him.
about aoe pressure etc so funny. just stop playing calc and dreaming.
I actually recommend FT but only for death match. Nades has better DPS but FT is easier for me to use. If we had templates, I would have it as my go to death match build.
any thief in opposite team and death match becomes match of your infinite deaths
well played but i didnt see anything about that build it self. id say you could do the same with empty bombs utility slot and no might from turret.

I personally like ft, but it is not that good in a match, like it seems on a paper.
Thiefs, warriors and other melee classes wouldn’t let you hit them with #1 and #2. Using nades or bombs allows you to kite them, while doing damage, ft does not.
Also you loose good amount of on-point pressure from gk#4 and gk#5 while in team fights.
I found it better against power rangers, mesmers and power necros. And it can still win about any other in 1vs1 if well played, but nades are way more useful.
Ps. Thus I’m really tired of running nades in every game mode

1vs1 in the field – run away, nothing to catch here
wvw roaming – there is no one near … to late to heal :P

People don’t run condi engi because it is incredibly squishy, one mistake in positioning and that’s all she wrote (against good players). It also gets trashed by cele engi, and trashed even harder by necros, loses to d/d eles, s/d thieves can even trash condi engi if they know the matchup because condi is easy to kill. It is high risk and little reward, until things change cele rifle will always be the 10x better build, that’s why ppl don’t run condi as often.

well it is really different. Food and oil and guard stacks and wvw bonuses… It is then more tougher to put pressure with cele, than with rabid or knight. And healing power helps much less in wvw.
For wvw it is OK with same build but knight equip
