They aren’t wild theories, devs have directly confirmed in interviews that sylvari are minions and that Mordremoth can co-opt them very easily. However, as you say, a dragon champion can break away as Glint did. And, apparently, as did the Pale Tree, who likely will be shielding PC sylvari and other Dreamers.
I agree with you on the Wynne part.
The only exception will be the five brand new traits at the top of each line. Those will require world unlocks or gold+skill points.
The devs weren’t able to filter out suggestions pertaining to their fields from the morass of threads all shoved into one big forum, so the change was made to have suggestions placed in appropriate forums, preferably with [SUGG] or some such in the title.
Imo it was a good change, albeit largely undone by the recent forum revamp that shoved a lot of active sub forums into one big catch-all forum.
I haven’t needed the white weapons for a long time, not since the NPE came into effect, but they used to be a fast way to get a collection of all weapons for skill unlocks.
Otoh the merchants are still extra spots in the world to sell junk to. No need to buy anything from them to find them useful.
What about Cobiah Marriner? Not that he had super powers, he was just a natural leader and the founder of the rebuilding of LA.
If they do use a human, then also a charr such as Kalla Scorchrazor might work, as she re-enfranchised female charr in her rise against the Flame Legion.
Not having played GW1 beyond quick chases after experienced guildies leading me to HoM points without time to read quest text or do side quests, I only know its lore through a bit of osmosis. So I can’t really suggest GW1 characters as Legends.
Two problems:
- You will get in trouble for naming and shaming. Edit out the names asap.
- Phishing involves tricking someone into giving up account information. Nasty as random kicking is after someone’s helped you through a fractal, it’s got not one thing to do with phishing.
Now as to whether they can get in trouble, who knows? But you should submit this to Support, not the forums, if you think this violated the code of conduct in any way.
(I do think it’s reprehensible behavior, at least as you described it; you’ve just gone about addressing it in a most unfortunate manner).
They did say in the blog that the Revenant has a lot of in-combat mobility but not without something targeted.
Except in his first go at it he did click on it in order to fight it a bit, right? I thought it was more likely something to do with the revenant or with targeting than with the boss itself.

Darn. I missed it. Is there a way to see it still?
Not right away but by tomorrow it should be available for replay on the Twitch channel.
I love hearing Rubi talk. I wish I had her poise and delivery and voice; I tend to stammer (unless I’m in trial, for some reason), and I’m rather nasally and grating at times, to my chagrin.
This was a fine PoI though, lots of good info, a real demonstration and they showed us all the skills and traits as they are currently implemented. I knew I’d be rolling a Revenant, but now I am eager to!
Also .. “chick…” really? Derogatory and antiquated.
The only thing this game seriously needs in the way of chat is custom channels. Why an MMO in this day and age doesn’t have that already is beyond me.
You do know you can customise your channels, right?
You can’t create your own channel to invite people to, however. That would allow much greater flexibility in social circles.
As to the cross-chat in WvW, no just no! They set it up as they did, including concealing player names from the enemy and turning them into faceless mist marauders, specifically to avoid targeted grudges. Early on there was a bug with Team Chat where everyone in the map could read it. I don’t think that turned into trash talk (people were still all happy to see each other in this great new game) but it did make coordination difficult.
Nowadays you’d just be getting nastygrams left and right. ANet wants people to play WvW, not flee from racist cussing. Sure block and report works on individuals but once you get a critical mass of it it will always be there.
And that’s what the OP is asking for by requesting a chance for “chat drama.” We don’t need drama like that.
Traits are unlocked at 30, and one more every 6 levels thereafter (not counting 80 which is a 2 level gap).
Meaning trait points. You need to spend the points on the desired traits, but cannot so spend them until you have unlocked the specific desired trait. Well, you can spend them, you’ll just have blank spots in the bigger boxes that you can’t fill until you unlock the trait. The smaller ones are passive effects for putting points in that trait line.
You can freely swap around your trait points out of combat, btw. So don’t stress too hard about picking the “best” line, it’s as easily changeable as your armor dyes.
More specifically on the traits, once they are visible in your traits panel you can mouse over the little spyglass/scout icon on the list of traits on the left side of the panel to see what it says to do to get that trait. I think you don’t get traits until a lot later than 11 now, more like 30? I could be wrong on that, I’ve only leveled one post-revamp alt.
Be aware that right now a lot of the tasks to unlock traits can’t be done until you’re ten levels higher than when you become eligible for the trait, others require events that are seldom up, and some require going into WvW and getting ganked. It’s a real mess and sometime from now until the launch of the expansion they will be changing the system in some as-yet-unknown way.
However, if there’s a trait you really want and can’t do the world unlock on, you can spend skill points and gold on it at your trainer. Skill points will eventually build up to where that is feasible, though at the start you’ll want them for utility unlocks so you might be 80 before you can manage that anyway.
That fix can’t come soon enough …
(The above may not make it clear that I love this game quite a bit. Welcome to one of the most fun MMO experiences one can have!)
Yes, my point exactly. If you check the wiki page I linked you will see that ANet/NCSoft owns permissions and 3rd party use is prohibited. So you can contact them or the artist to see if a version modified to your needs is available for wallpaper purposes.
Well, at noon Pacific there is a Points of Interest live stream on Twitch that will show some of Revenant game play. Generally PoI doesn’t show anything not already blogged, but you never know.
Just close out the chat channel to the right. While some of the comments are insightful, you’ll lose focus on the actual presentation sifting through the vast bulk of trash talk and spam.
That looks like something modified from the original concept artist’s work, a piece by Hyojin Ahn and seen at http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File:The_crescent_moon_2_concept_art.jpg
More images of this artist’s work are at https://www.google.com/search?q=hyojin+ahn+deviantart&biw=1442&bih=812&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=t57mVLPkEceZNsDFgpAM&ved=0CCcQsAQ
Perhaps the original artist will give permission for further use and modification.
For just quitting the instance to restart, all you have to do is log out to character select and back in. Voila, you’re outside the instance and it will start again at the beginning when you enter.
Arah used to be contested all the time. They redid it to give you that safe lobby area and wp because it’s needed to complete the PS and the playerbase convinced them it was not kosher to block completion if the server wasn’t working on Orr (this was pre megaserver).
The other dungeons do have a storyline but it’s much less central to the game, so they don’t have the pressure to change the access mechanics.
You can toggle off the UI to get a fuller view. The problem is that also toggles off your cursor control so you can’t spin the character except while the other alt face boxes are showing.
Do not buy anything from DirectSong. The complaints about them when that CD set came out were legion. Many people sent money and never received either the music or a refund, being met with stony silence or irrelevant cut and paste answers from their customer “service.”
I believe (but could be wrong) that Soule — the composer — is not happy with ANet and won’t have anything to do with them or selling his music written for them.
In any case, the tracks should all still be on YouTube, or you can go the secondhand route, but a retail priced set is not happening.
Most likely it’s just there’s some small content for sylvari in HoT, or playing one up through the story will give you a deeper perspective on them to help understand some story elements or be more invested in what happens to them. I don’t think they’ll take away sylvari as a creatable playable race (they cooould get that bold, I just don’t think it’s at all likely), and they certainly won’t make it a requirement to access HoT content.
Though maybe some small areas will require a sylvari to open a vine gate or something, who knows?

Well, silvermember said the same thing about build profiles in https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot/Build-profiles/first#post4806937 yesterday and hasn’t responded to the request for a source, so you may have to wait a while, Guardian
Just think of the last blogpost. The released skills of the axe and the mace seems to fit so well to each other, why not using them together? It would solve all the problems people have with the revenant without creating higher “maintenance”-needs for this particular class.
Slight nitpick: The released screenshots show a Revenant holding a mace and an axe. I don’t know if they can be swapped in position or one is main hand and the other off hand only, but those skills are in fact usable together in the current iteration.
I do rather like the idea of selectable weapon skills but better theorycrafters than I would have to analyze the impact of that.
That particular one I’ve never noticed (now I might, gee thanks
) but it’s not just you. I have a tremendous issue with … not exactly flicker. Swish? Spin? The twitching of charr and drake tails, the flicker of mini wasp wings, the flap of fire elemental wings, any effects with whirling orbs, if I have to see any of that for a long time (eg sitting still for an RP session, or at the bank), I get sick to my stomach. RL ceiling fans do that to me as well, to my husband’s dismay since he wants the breeze they offer and I simply refuse to have one in the bedroom.
I think my eyes jitter back and forth tracking the motion and then I get motion sickness.
I… actually created my own sylvari just today. And I’m already a bit frustrated by the lack of really fitting armor, can’t wait to hit 35 to get the first tier of salad dresses
You needn’t wait. You can buy them any time to unlock them to wardrobe, then use transmutation charges to apply them to your armor.
Though then you’ll be using a lot of charges as you gear up over time if you want to keep the look in combat (you can always keep an RP set in your bags to change into when you want to look nice).
There are apparently technical limitations preventing them from making universally sittable chairs, per the zillions of threads on the subject over the years.
The best suggestion imo (sorta tooting my own horn since I was one of the suggesters) is to have a toy chair. Y’know, like the pirate sword or chef’s frying pan, it replaces your skills with other abilities, in this case a variety of sitting poses in a summoned chair.
Or else just have a /chair emote that summons a chair and poses you in it in a persistent state.
Do work on it in case the following doesn’t pan out, but there is speculation just now that maybe, just maybe, WvW will be removed from the completion requirements in HoT. I think it’s based on shots of the UI in the HoT demo.
I like Jokubas’ idea of calling it Incite. That’s a very nice word. Though perhaps Provoke will be easier to spell for many …. I foresee people calling it Insight, alas.
Perhaps that’s in the realm of things changeable based on feedback during beta?
Here’s my four. Guardian: This is her current armor (T3) though she’s had a number of looks over time.
Mesmer: My “Scarlet Pimpernel” character, so he has his disguise for Whispers operations and his foppish bright colors.
Necromancer: Her hair’s changed over time due to various RP incidents. She tends to grow her clothes in bright clashing pastels. These are slightly older shots; the second is her current hair.
And Warrior, not played since I got him to 80, no RP ever grew for him and warrior is not my fave profession.
Just because it shares the name with what WoW’s tanks use doesn’t mean it will operate the same way.
The various screenshots in the blog and the Polygon interview show mace main hand and axe off hand. Has anyone seen the reverse, or are these looking to be non-dual-wield?
You can preview dyes off the TP. You right click them in TP (make sure not to hit the Buy part), click Preview in the drop down. Repeat 3 more times to fill all four dye channels. Then you can right click one of the dye boxes in your preview window to clear just that slot, leaving all other previews active (this works on armor previews too, so you can mix and match without starting from scratch each time).
It’s a bit clunky, and with well over 400 dyes on the TP it can take quite a while if you haven’t narrowed down your choices, but you can see what the dye will look like on you before you buy it.
While I avoid the PvP side of things, I do have the impression that the toxicity of the PvP denizens here, while very real, is substantially less than what you see in other games. This does not excuse it, but “nicest” is relative, after all.
Revenant is now confirmed to have Hammer, Mace, and Axe, plus others to be revealed later. However, what it gets when specialized is pure speculation thus far.
^
I’m curious— what sorts of features would a ‘corrupted’ sylvari display? Sounds like potential for another salad c:
We’ve seen Mordremoth Courtiers, who are covered in bark. So one of the woodier faces, possibly the mouthless mask one, along with bark textured skin in a dark color might do the trick. Add in the red glowing eyes mask and voila?

Some of that may be tied to story elements they don’t want to spoil. Still it would be nice to get some snippets so we can start mulling over RP backgrounds. None of the stuff in the blog gives me any ideas for race/story for my revenant.
Where was it confirmed? I’ve been reading General, HoT, LS, and Players Helping Players forums a lot and this is the first I’ve seen anyone say it.
Y’know, even if the person wielding the Twilight “just” bought it on the TP … someone still had to make it in the first place. They don’t just magically appear for sale. Now perhaps some make them for the purpose of sale and would not have for personal use, so there are more in use than would be if they were account bound on acquire.
Even so, when you see a Twilight you know that someone spent the effort to make it, though it may not be the person you see in front of you wielding it.
I’ll be surprised if they give us any PS revamp. Not because I think it’s a bad idea, but because I think they didn’t allow for flexibility when they launched with the PS, and they want to get away from the “talking heads” style of story presentation. They’d have a ton of animation and voice actor changes to make. Granted an expansion does usually involve substantially new things, yet somehow I don’t think ANet wants to use the old PS format any more so they aren’t likely to invest the resources in it for the new profession.
Now that’s harsh. Frozen Maw and Shadow Behemoth and Fire Elemental don’t require 80’s or even 20’s. They are in starter zones, after all.
My favorite pistol is the Aetherized one, though that will cost you quite a bit of gold now.
I can’t suggest good daggers off the top of my head that will work with your palette as I tend to zero in on more gold and steel ones. Maybe try the Warden dagger (sylvari T3, costs a lot of karma but is not race restricted).
Kryta — try the Wynchona Rally Waypoint in western Harathi. There are usually four to six trees in a very short distance from it.
I have the lumber nodes in my home instance, so I can cut down those three and find just one tree out in the wild, but that Harathi spot is even easier.
I would offer some aid (and a possible guild if you are into RP) but Piken Square is on the EU servers. If you aren’t in the Europe area you might find yourself suffering some latency issues.
I’ll let others tell you how to transfer if you actually meant to be on an NA server, because I’ve never done it myself ankitten ot sure on the ins and outs of moving between EU and NA.
Now that you’ve broken the pattern of giving us blogs on Tues-Wed-Thurs, can you do something like you did in the April feature pack and at least give us dates with teasers or outright reveals of which blogs will come on which days?
I shall retract this query if we do get a blog today, as it’s just after 3 pm your time, even though usually the blogs have shown up a few hours sooner than that. And yesterday was a holiday, albeit not one usually honored by private industry. Still, I was really hoping to get something new to read about other than BLTC items
I just previewed it. It’s gorgeous. It’s also gigantic. It would be quite a sight to see a few dozen people running with those trailing along.
But it really would fit well with the current festival, so I join the sadness that they didn’t make it available.
You still need both halves of a bladder to make the complete one. The extractor simply guarantees you a bladder half rather than, say, a tendon. (I still boggle at them doing that half-an-organ thing, it was highly annoying until there were dedicated extractors).
For me the SW loot isn’t the point, it’s a side effect of working a round from prep to Breach to Vinewrath to maze. I did get one ascended weapon chest once (from a bandit chest), and that was cool.
If you’re not enjoying it, though, don’t do it (other than getting your last organs, that’s progress you can feel). It’ll still be there later once your taste swings back that way.
