I’ve had no lag. I had two guildies with lag but one was due to Steam starting an update and the other thanks to the Blizzard launcher, so no blame to GW2 in their cases. One’s in the south, the other the midwest, and I’m mid Atlantic.
Ha, DeWolfe, tell that to the people that think a group of RPers make a fine target for aoe effects and naked dancing. They clearly don’t realize they are dropping trou in a public park and spraying graffiti on statues.
As to maize balm I’ll have to check what it’s selling for. I think I have a few vials of it somewhere and no interest in farming with it.
The link works fine for me, as did your previous one. You may be having browser issues with repeatedly going to the same link?
I receive emails from “Guild Wars 2” and “Guild Wars 2 Support.” Same as Mo Mo above, my last received was the PAX South Expansion Revealed one. If there have been any HoT emails I have not gotten them. (I have not tried registering again since I first reported the issue in this thread).
As we bear down on Beta invite time this becomes more of a concern. Would Support be able to check at least those who’ve posted in this thread to see if there’s any issues? I somewhat hesitate to submit a ticket when there’s nothing to say there should be any emails beyond a confirmation of registration, or if in fact all HoT email will automatically go to those who are already subscribed.
It’s just not clear there’s actually a problem when we don’t know for sure we’ve missed stuff that was sent.
I’ll never, ever use this feature, due to how nauseated I get trying to play anything in first person view. But I guess hooray for those who actually wanted it!
I also won’t run around with it, I have to go to a far zoom when moving. But think of the landscape screenshots you can do!
.
I mean, what other games has a whole bank specified to crafting mats? What other games has a button to store crafting mats in the bank without having to go there?
WOW does
WOW also charges you 15 dollars a month. That much money can be used to buy more bank slots in GW2 with ease.
Well that is sadly besides the point of my question… If now WoW has this feature then I rest my case. They didn’t have it when I last played it atleast.
WoW does have a reagents tab in the bank now, it arrived some time in the last 6 months or so. But you can’t send mats to it from the field, you have to go to the bank, open it, click the reagents tab, and there you will see a “deposit all” button. You can craft anywhere without pulling the reagents out of the bank, though.
I am a packrat. In any game I will fill up my storage capacity and then have to juggle things and make hard decisions to dump some. In WoW I can mail stuff back and forth to alts but that requires paying attention so it doesn’t expire and vanish into nothing. Since I don’t enjoy WoW that much, I am not sure what I’ll be losing as I fade from the game once more …
GW2 does offer a lot of space (and I fill it up). I think the starter space is adequate especially as you start collecting bags for personal inventory expansion. I’ll admit, however, that I’m financially comfortable enough that I had no problem buying gems with cash to expand my storage to max. Of my 15 alts, only two don’t have all the bag slots, and that’s because I’m not really invested in playing those two. I suppose people that still have to watch their small change — and I had years of doing that, it’s tough to volunteer for 4 years before you get salary — I suppose they’d find storage more constricting.

even if we can’t watch the interview for a week, are you able to talk through this forum about what was said?
I believe his post was him talking about what was said. The details implied by his summary are what are embargoed.
Joe, I hope your trip was fun! For those of us who are old fashioned fuddy duddies who don’t really “follow” Twitter and YouTube (I just go to specific links when they are pointed out to me), could you drop a quick post in this thread when you’ve published anything written or video’d regarding your visit to ANet? I’ll relay it to my guild right away and then you’ll have all the more views all the faster
edited to remove overly redundant use of the word “fast.”
I don’t know why they are unclothed (probably for fun) but what they’re doing is using Maize Balm to turn ambients into candy corns they can kill for loot, including Trick or Treat bags, which may contain rare things.
That’s pretty much what happens every time the suggestion is made. That’s why I linked the older threads at the beginning, hoping people would take heed that these are not new discussions.
If you’re like me:
Won — a few.
Lost — a lot.
I usually only played 2 matches a day. Sometimes I won both, most of the time I lost both, rarely I had a split.
But I didn’t win or lose them. My team did.
If the game has no tracking option, no one on the forums can tell you your ratio. They weren’t there.
Actually the icon showed up in the Revenant PoI, I believe, as we got detailed looks at the hero panel provided by the revenant designer dev.
I do think a subforum would make sense now. Sure it’ll be filled with speculation at the start, but as we get more information the more nebulous threads will fade off the main page.
Those posts are also old, so make sure not to post on them. You’re not supposed to bump up threads that have not had posts in over 30 days.
That forum rule is rather fuzzy. There is an option to do the bump if you want to, so it has to be all right in some circumstances. I think mods have even commented that it’s better to add to an existing discussion than to just repeat the conversation in thread after thread.
In this case the request for male skimpy armor is exactly the same as we’ve seen over time, without any game changes that have made the earlier threads obsolete, so I think it makes more sense to consolidate the commentary than to spin wheels rehashing old debates.
I guess that’s why some perennial topics have been merged.

Perhaps these prior discussions can give you some ideas or show you what others have requested along these lines.
They’ve had a number of video bloggers (and other press?) in their HQ yesterday and maybe today. Angry Joe was one, per his thread on these forums requesting players to submit questions for him to ask while there.

I think we can stop submitting questions now, his tour was yesterday.
Except for this one:
When will you be sharing what you learned, Joe? Many eager viewers want to know!
The one constant I’ve seen in fishing in games is that you have to hover your mouse over the hook waiting for the random moment when the bobber splashes so you can click.
I hate this.
While I don’t know how to get around it without making it far too easy for botters, it ruins fishing for me because I can’t text-chat while one hand is glued to the mouse. So it becomes an activity on which I must focus all my attention but in which nothing happens for large blocks of time, blocks long enough to make me want to check a forum, respond to a quip in gchat, manage my inventory, etc. And all I can do is stare at one spot on the screen with my finger poised to hit a button.
Please no.
When it first arrives yes we will be in a sea of black feathers. Over time they’ll thin out, however, especially as new shinies come along.
I really love the wings and if I can find an alt they look right on, I’ll be sporting them. I usually have my back invisible, however, except when I’m wearing armor it suits.
What strikes me with these is that if ever there was a backpiece in need of at least two dye channels, it’s these. Let people use barred owl or macaw or peregrine themes (yeah, the wing shape isn’t right, I know). If you’ve read the Sharon Shinn Angels books (which are actually science fiction, btw, and slightly on the romance side without being mindless bodice rippers), the wings in those books tend to shade from one color to another and ooooooh no other fiction has made me want a winged character quite so much.
Apparently they do have some sort of new build planned, and it will be “in the next few hours” as of less than 30 minutes ago. Whyyyyyy … I have to vanish any second for my regular Tuesday non-computer activities and usually I don’t get back online until Wednesday!
I can’t complain too much, though, the last several patches have dropped a few hours before I had to leave and I was able to enjoy the new stuff without spoilers.
I posted earlier about wishing they wouldn’t put up a notice that something’s in the store when it isn’t in fact in the store.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Better-Coordination-of-Site-News-with-Game/first#post4825325
That was hours ago.
I have a sad: I checked the main page news 45 minutes ago and it said Lord Faren’s Rapier is in the gem store now. I didn’t even know a new rapier was coming! So I hopped in game … and it’s not. Still not.
I know that new gem items sometimes hit later on a patch day than the patch (and no patch has hit at all). And the news items like to say what all is coming and they don’t wait just because the gem store isn’t updated.
But this time there is nothing in the news blurb except the rapier and the chickenado finisher. So why post it before the gem store has the things available?
Behellagh’s image shows how. Find a wall with a horizontal mark. Preferably one with a distinct pattern in the ground by it. Put each alt on the “mark” on the ground. Zoom to include a nearby object for scale and match that zoom for each alt. Screenshot each and compare.
One thing I tend to do is as I take each alt through the PS is screencap them standing next to each Destiny’s Edge member in that first meeting in LA. It’s not as precise as the wall method above, but certainly gives a ballpark comparison.
I’m sorry about your illness. Keep in mind that the rewards you used to get for doing four dailies you now get just for logging in. Then you can pick 3 dailies from the 12 offered across PvE, WvW, and PvP if you want 10 AP for the day and some bonus chests (eg if you do the gathering daily the chest contains a selection of that type of material. I can gather 4 heads of lettuce in Beetletun and get some omnomberries in my chest). But even if you never do a daily you’ll get the laurels and the like.
/Silverwastes Charr Voice: “Thanks for logging in.”
Not only that, but you have access on every alt you make, not just your current ones. Take your time!
I don’t think we have enough lore yet to get a good canon range for what Revenants can do. Though I tend to figure out my character’s power level based on how various skills work in PvE and what the traits allow, then add in compensating disadvantages (my thief, for instance, is supremely agile and charming, but has almost no resistance to mind attacks such as mesmers use, beyond his being perceptive enough to have a chance to track the real mesmer in the clones crowd. He can’t really sense magic either, so auras etc are beyond his ken).
Some of it grows out of how the devs describe the profession concept, some from in-game NPC examples. The story of how Rytlock got the powers will affect how my rev gets his/hers.
As to power level, I will always err on the side of less power rather than more. I just don’t like Monty Haul games
One LARP GM once said I was the only player he knew who would rules-lawyer to put herself in a worse position. So I like Palador’s reading of it.
My nebulous RP concept thus far is a sylvari using the imprint of the Legends to mask his/her own mental signature and confuse away Mordremoth’s influence. So a hunk of any power gained from channeling is diverted to that task rather than to combat power. I do like to have limits!
Oh look, let’s get to know the forum page two bug.
- I’m significantly older than I appear
Me too. I’m 41 and most guess my age early 30s. I credit it to eating more fruit than meat and not worrying about what people think about me.
Ha, I’ll join that club! No one believes I’m about to hit 50. Probably because I’m thin with very long brown hair and have no wrinkles. I had one early 20’s client in for a discussion of his case once and I dropped a comment about being in my late 40’s as part of an anecdote to help him get things in perspective. He flat out said he hadn’t been listening to me because he thought I was some new rookie lawyer but now he’d really pay attention. One of the few I’ve met kittenpected me more for being “ancient.”
People also think I’m a vegetarian due to the skinny long hair thing. They’re always shocked to hear how much I love meat and loathe veggies.
I have not. Now and then in any game I find my character unstoppably running forward or moving to one side or another, and it’s always because a keyboard key is stuck.
Targeting loss happens in GW2 very easily if you use your left mouse button to pan your camera. It used to also happen on a right click but after a very long thread they fixed that.
Your problem might be several unrelated issues happening simultaneously due to how you play. I suggested the mouse because that would account for both a new click and a stuck movement at once. I am not an expert, though, so you may want to ask this in the tech support forum.
How old are your mouse and keyboard? Something could be clicking when it shouldn’t. For example I use right-alt for my Mumble push to talk. Sometimes when in Mumble I find that I can’t drag items around in inventory because they want to split the stack instead, as my alt key is slightly depressed and I have to joggle it a lot to fix that.
Since you’re seeing loss of target, your mouse buttons may be dying. One of those pushed down could de-target and make you keep turning one direction.

As others have said, i recommend taking a while to read up/“get back into the game” as it were, so you understand the differences from launch compared to now …
I get the feeling Joe’s visit to ANet is tomorrow, as he posted early today that he’ll be going there “Tuesday” not “next Tuesday.” There’s a limit to how much up to speed he can get in one day

A fair number of the questions in this thread are on subjects we’ve yet to get blogs on. Had the blogs already appeared, the questions would be different, perhaps more focused on specific points. I still want the questions asked, though!
As others have covered most of the game mechanics issues, I’ll ask you to see what you can find out about QoL changes and cosmetic additions. Will more things become account bound (crafting skill, for instance)? Will a substantial number of new armor and weapon skins show up, preferably in game but some in the gem shop is fine? By substantial I mean more than one or two that will then have everyone running around in the same thing because it’s the only new thing. I’d love it to be closer to the variety that was available at launch.
Will the makeover kit special faces, hairs, and colors make their way into character creation, leaving room for new special ones to keep the kits selling?
A mechanics query: Will the megaserver get further refined to vastly increase the likelihood of being with one’s home server, at least in cities?
None of that is urgent. I’m much more keen to learn more of specializations and guild halls. But people already asked about those
Have fun at your event!
I’m not sure Guzzi is asking to let the current skins mix up armor weights so much as to make new skins that can mix but aren’t tied to the old three-weight appearance. Much as the same dragon helm or monocle skin was applied across all the weights, why not create a heavy-skeleton top that looks like a foofy shirt? (Landsknechts say hi). Or give a light armor wearer a top that in appearance is a steel cuirass?
Uh … people are fretting they are only getting shield as their one new weapon. Mesmers already have swords available. In both hands, even.
Oh, I agree there’s a severe break in the story due to the decision to set things “ten minutes later.” Their LS team has done a lot with a small group of people, so I can hope for some side adventures that aren’t necessarily synchronous with the LS.
My point was aimed at those decrying ANet for telling us they’re working on something big, and giving us a lot more details about it than they are wont to do, when its very size means they can’t set a release date yet. They aren’t hiding it from us, they are inviting us in on the development process earlier than they have before and thus are telling us things that aren’t ready for live.
So let’s try to be happy we’ve learned this much already. For those who can’t keep up their excitement levels, go be excited about other stuff (e.g. I hear a really good movie debuted this weekend — snow kept me from seeing it yet, though). A casual check of forum thread titles will tell you when something interesting happens and you won’t get ulcers from stressing over not getting it Right Now.
Always someone says “your suggestion isn’t worthwhile because it’s less vital than other things the devs can do.” But suggestions are just that: suggestions. Not demands, simply saying “hey, wouldn’t this be cool?” and letting the devs think about whether the resources are there for it or not. So please dispute the merits of the idea rather than the costs of it…?
I think a shared skill points pool and shared crafting expertise would be lovely. Let an individual alt level up a craft for the xp and the flavor, sure, but once that’s done accessing the results of crafting becomes merely alt-hopping, which becomes tedious or even wasteful as you lose track of who has what recipes. On the third point, packrat though I am I won’t assume that stack limits are arbitrary and capricious. They probably result from a mix of technical limitations of the database and economic considerations of allowing people to hoard higher amounts of materials.
Another ANet can’t win request.
“Don’t wait to the last minute to tell us stuff is coming! Let us give you feedback!”
“Don’t tell us so far in advance that we lose interest!”
“When you tell us something it had better be available Right Now!”
“What you’ve told us would be horrible if implemented as is Right Now!”
I also hope for core revamps and tweaks. However I don’t want to tell ANet “don’t you dare make really cool new things that outshine what you’ve done before.” That’s a whole different kind of bad for retaining player interest
Even if they don’t make sweeping upgrades game wide, surging forward in pieces is better than never advancing at all.
It is intentional. Think of them as fire and forget spells you cast on your target rather than persistent doppelgangers, with the added bonus that you can dispel them for desired effects (the F1-F4 skills) before your target dies. I often note my target is about to die while in a crowd and pop F1 or F2 because the effect hits all the foes in range of it. Or so I assume from the swarm of damage numbers I see, anyway, I’m not anything like an expert on this. Then I build them up again on the next target; if a higher health mob is available, eg a veteran, I use that one so they’ll stick around longer.
Also once you have traits unlocked you’ll be able to add effects to the clones and phantasms that trigger when they are killed. Might also work when they self-shatter after a foe dies? I’m not sure on that.
I’m curious why you’re hiding all of your weapon skills and utilities but not that mistfire wolf elite.
If any of them were to be embarrassing, it’d probably be that one.
Looks like an Engineer to me, given F2-F3-F4 are ground targeted skills. Skill 5 is also ground targeted but I don’t know Engie well enough to know if that suggests a base weapon or kit equipped.
-I greatly enjoy reading, especially science fiction (my favorite authors are Peter F. Hamilton, David Weber, and Alastair Reynolds these days)
Oooh good picks! I could toss off a lot of other authors to recommend, but I will stick to two based on your like of Hamilton and Weber:
S.M. Stirling — similar world building to Weber with lots of attention to detail and to socioeconomic implications of world changing stuff, excellent combat and adventure and characterization, not afraid to be grim but also has real heroes and epic scope. Avoid his vampire books to start, though, they’re a little out there, instead try the Nantucket series that starts with Island in the Sea of Time and the Change series aka Dies the Fire.
Lois McMaster Bujold (SF: The Miles Vorkosigan series; Fantasy: Several, but especially the Sharing Knife series) — Truly fun reads with characters you want as friends. The Vorkosigan universe is space opera, I suppose, with a lot of heart and humor, danger, heroism, and madcap adventure.
Ebonhawke’s east exit goes into a quarry. There’s a whole nest of rats under the overseer’s platform. I guess balmers could use that. Well, one balmer could. I don’t think it’s anything like an instant respawn.
If I or any of my friends used the balm, or liked to RP in hearing range of the quarry, I’d never mention that spot — so I doubt anyone who has a similar good spot and does use it will ever reveal it. I was flat out disgusted when the Rata Sum balm farmers decided to grief some Asura RP I was doing with guildies on that platform. We weren’t touching their ambients and they still had to say derisive stuff and drop aoe skills on us because they thought RP shouldn’t exist.
Here’s hoping the Ebonheart tavern is out of emote range of those rats …
Character Slot for Heart of Thorns? [Merged]
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Donari.5237
This question/suggestion has appeared in numerous threads over the past weeks. Rest assured, ANet knows people would like this to happen, and at some point they will tell us if it’s planned.
There is no immediate rush to open a slot for HoT. You could wait ‘til the day before launch to get one, since you can’t use it for a revenant until launch anyway.
The only annoying thing that could happen would be them putting character slots on sale and soon thereafter announcing there will be a free slot with HoT, so people who only bought the slot because they wanted one more to cover their HoT needs feel ripped off and inundate CS with refund requests for the slot. That would be on par with listing Rox’s Quiver for sale two weeks before the Wardrobe debuted, thus coaxing people (me) to buy two more of them … yes, I got a refund for that, but it was one of the few things that left me feeling sour about the game.
I use the back to back trick a lot to see guildies’ new alts. Mostly I see face details in RP or while at the bank or TP; out in combat areas or while running I’m zoomed out max to make sure I see as much around me as possible and avoid motion sickness from running zoomed in.
Still I like it when I see a face that shows some effort to make something different. One of my friends managed to make her human female look beautiful and elegant with an apparent age in her 30’s, none of this vacuous teenybopper look for her! I’ve seen some impressive sylvari and charr as well, ones you can pick out of a crowd without name tags to help.
Apparently there is a trick to making them persist and follow like a mini. They don’t despawn even if the summoner logs out. I met a fellow in DR who said so, anyway, and he had summoned a conga line of them, but he would not divulge the trick due to the lack of despawn. For that I salute him, and I hope he reports it as a bug.
As mentioned in all the other “let us inspect” threads, if the public option is there then there will be many instances of people booting people from groups for refusing to let their gear be seen. If the option were released but only for mutual friends, that would just be one more required step, along with countless threads demanding expanding the functionality so “I can filter out the bads, omg, how dare they breathe in my playing space while wearing something of which I disapprove!”
You’ll want to swap off on who starts an instance. I mean, take turns, so if you start one she starts the next step. The one who starts it gets their character featured in the cut scenes and controls dialogue speed and is the only one who can interact with items in the instance, so you’ll want to share the limelight.
…and this is why we showed all the things.
Awesome job getting all the info dulfy.
Amazing job.
I am still curious about the underwater skills however
.
It would be super funny if the revenant only had 1 Legend that you could use underwater.
my guess is they didn’t even start to think about underwater stuff.
Check the OP’s image in https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot/3rd-item-on-POI/first#post4817144 and you will see the hero panel only has one underwater weapon and none were equipped for the demo.
That shot shows something else interesting: Just one underwater weapon.
Awesome job getting all the info dulfy.
