making the game harder and nerfing gold farming methods accomplishes two things

1. people who are dedicated players who like to farm for stuff will quite, making server load lighter
2. people who aren’t so dedicated but still want gold will end up spending even more money on buying gold because it’s now impossible to make gold by playing the game

it’s very easy to understand these kind of situations once you face the fact that it’s all about the money

inb4 “omg how dare anet try to make money blah blah blah”

yes, anet deserves money for content. however, taking present content and making it harder is not content, and therefore not deserving of money.

it’s sad to say that i’m thinking about leaving too, for wildstar

Do it, you won’t regret it. I approached it with reservations after the severe disappointment suffered with this game over the last year. Wildstar’s what an MMO should be and is worth the $15 a month.

You do understand that you are basically supporting the same company.

And so the game will likely have or get similar money grabbing tactics. In fact the 15 dollar a month might be exactly that. And if your willing to pay the 15 dollar you might just as well start playing WoW as that game proven itself by being successful for 10 years now.

  • raises her hand sheepishly, as she rides around on her two person rocket.*

All kidding aside. I am not going to leave gw2 just yet. I am not on playing it, since it’s rewards are all in parts of the game I am not too thrilled about. The manifesto said play how I want, if i go chasing the gold Like a skinner box lab rat…I am not Playing the way I want.

As long as playing the game the way i want is nowhere near as profiteable as farming dungeon runs… I prefer to monitor the Forums for changes… and play… something else.

But the last thing I will do, is give more money to NCSoft.

So whether Wildstar looks good or not, I am giving that a pass.

I think people need to cool it on the “omg if it isn’t satisfying me 100% then I’m not able to play how I want, Anet you lied!” thing. If you want to just do PvP, go for it. You want to mindlessly grind mobs in PvE, go for it, you want to just do crafting and JPs, sure no one’s stopping you, you want to RP, run some dungeons, do some WvW, stand in a circle dancing, whatever, by all means go and do it you can play any way you want! Oh, you want to do any of those things but also make good money doing it? Well, that’s a completely different issue. Not a “play how I want” issue.

I would like to work directly towards items I might like. Not by grinding gold. Thats all.

Well, some could argue that by grinding gold you are indeed working directly towards items you like…

Hypothetically if, let’s say you wanted Dusk, they said, “ok to get Dusk you can run X dungeon and then at the end you will get 1-2 ‘Dusk tokens’. Collect 1000 Dusk tokens and you can trade them in for Dusk!”

Believe it or not if Anet did this then I bet a lot of people would be happy. “Oh man we can finally work toward something we want!” I can hear them exclaiming.

But quite honestly, in this scenario, you could swap the term Dusk tokens for gold coin and you would have the system we currently have.

Hahaha, except that:
a) those dusk tokens wouldn’t loose their worth, like gold does very fast (precursors in beginning of the game were 10 to 50 gold, now most are 300-800 gold)
b) there wouldn’t be a monopoly on precursors owned by a group of wealthy trading post flippers

I will concede these points. Both of those are very true.

You won’t get any player back with SAB. As much as I enjoyed it it’s still a minigame that gets you rewards in the game, but if you left you won’t come back for SAB. You will come back for new zones/race/weaps/classes/any actual content. even if you come back, it’s like completely outside the game, you use different skills, environment and graphics are of course completely different, there’s nothing that will make you say “hey they added that, how cool”, because nup.

The people that played and enjoyed SAB previously and have quit since would indeed come back just to play SAB. The game is free to play. They would log in, exclusively play SAB, then leave or they would choose to give GW2 another chance after getting their SAB fill, which would be the underlying point.

OP I’m sorry but you have no idea what you’re talking about in regards to DPS. You have clearly not played with good eles, thieves, or mesmers; they can out DPS Guards and Warriors in damage and sustain handily.

You only think warrior and guards are the best because those are the easiest classes to get decent DPS with and that’s typically what bandwagon players are playing. There’s little you have to do in order to have decent DPS on those classes (warrior specifically). But for the other classes, if spec’d, geared, and played properly, completely blow them out of the water in terms of DPS.

When i started an Engineer after playing a warrior for quite a while i was seriously shocked by the limited number of actual weapons available to the class.

I didn’t take long until he was deleted.

I thought that too until I realized the kit system and then I noticed I never used normal weapons at all anymore. The kits are basically weapons. So whatever it is you are thinking is their available weapons, add like 4 on top of that.

^ I was kind of enjoying your post until the last part about GW2 being a WoW clone. I’m not even going to say anything other than: have you actually played WoW before?

the two things that are directly from WoW and are just as horrible:
1.) gear grind, you might not have to do an insane dungeon to hope for a drop but then again, you have a better chance of getting the gear trough a drop then to farm for it like in GW2.
2.) gear centric, one thing GW1 did perfectly right but GW2 did horribly wrong is to make gear the top priority as it is in WoW, it should’ve bin a cosmetic thing and nothing else.

I love this post. In WoW even before they went casual it was possible to get a few pieces of currency and buy a piece of armor without spending years in the same dungeon. I tried myself to get even the AC things (you would think since it’s one of the first dungeons players encounter it would be quick to do a single run and then get a reward but no.) we barely made it with a good team and two guards. What gets me is the tiny bit of currency. I went out to see what I could get with it. Absolutely nothing. Is it any wonder why people preferred crafting in this title to running dungeons early on?

Agree with you on the stats thing. When they announced early on that it might be cosmetic only I thought AWESOME! that would be a real change. but alas no. Last minute decisions in the wrong directions/lack of knowledge of mmo development history seems to be this game’s problem.

I’m sure the hundreds if not thousands of players with tons of Ascalon tokens would beg to differ. AC is one of the easiest, if not the easiest dungeon to complete and get tokens from. It’s one of the most farmed dungeons because it is so easy.

Whatever group you ran it with may not have been as good as you think they were. Play with an actual good team and you will be flooded with more tokens than you can shake a fist at.

100% World Completion

Just remove WvW from map completion there is already to much PvE in WvW, it never should have been part of the 100% mapping anyway.

This ^

As a PvE player I never liked the idea of esploring WvW but in the end always managed to do it.

I have 4 characters with 100% Map, never asked a commander or anyone with anything to do it but I still agree that WvW shouldn’t be part of exploration, the only times I go there is for the monthly jumping puzzles and when I needed to explore, nothing more.

ANet needs to get their facts straight, not everyone likes WvW and it can hardly be considered a PvE area. They can keep all the Points of interests, Vistas etc but at least do the PvE’ers a favor by removing it from the the map completion.

The same could be said for PvE though. Not everyone likes Orr for example. Should mapping no longer be a requirement because not everyone likes it? There are certainly spots in Orr that you cannot map because you can’t get to it easily. Sometimes you have to wait for others to arrive to clear the area, or wait for an event to finish to gain access. How is that any different than WvW? Ok so you want to get that tower, well it’s not accessible right now because it’s owned by blue, either gather some people to take it, or wait for it to flip via zerg. The difference is minute. The only real difference is that there’s a chance a swarm of enemy players swoops in to kill you.

Treat WvW maps like it’s PvE and there’s really no issue. I’ve definitely had to suicide for POIs in both Orr and WvW, so whether a bunch of vets/champs kills you or enemy players kill you, it’s the same act you are accomplishing. For the most part mapping WvW is extremely safe as long as you only map your color. You know you need to map green, red, and blue territories. Ok so now you’re blue this week. Map all of blue BL that you can (the southern areas may flip more frequently, but at some point your side will own them guaranteed), then hop in EB and map your corner. If you own SMC even better, but that can be mapped later.

Then go back to PvE. Check back periodically to see if your color has changed. If so, map that BL and your corner of EB. Continue until it is mapped.

A question about GW2

Draknar.5748

The same kind of “knight” and “marionette” fights are the final straw for me.

I pretty much dealt with the megaserver change, and the timetabled boss spawn followed because of this.

with dragonite ore being the only thing left for me to gather, all i can do now is wait. wait for boss x, wait for boss y or wait for boss z. Oh i missed one? to kittening bad, please wait an hour or three and try again.

Games stop becomming gamse when i actualyl have to shedule a planning to get kitten done. I play games to play them M I N D L E S S L Y, excep this game forces everyone to do the exact opposite, preferably togheter, and only in 6 minutes.

One more update like this and i’m donating my account to a new kid who might consider himself fortunate untill he discovers how weak of garbage this end game in here really is.

There are tons of forums posts asking for less mindless zerg content and more difficult content and here you are complaining that GW2’s content isn’t mindless enough? HUH?

Dragonite is one of the easiest things to farm for in GW2 because you can actually farm for it. There are guaranteed dragonite ore drops from bosses every 15min. If you wanted to mindlessly farm dragonite you can, compared to pretty much anything else in this game. Sure there’s a soft cap on how quickly you can collect dragonite, but so what? In MMOs you need create long-term goals, not short-term ones.

As for pavilion: have you actually been a part of a cohesive group in the Pavilion? It’s awesome. You can clearly see the difference in play styles. Players who put the effort into coordinating and leading reap gold level rewards, which are great. But on the flipside, if you are player like you who wants to play mindlessly, guess what! You can! The same exact content! You will just end up in bronze category and get a lesser reward. This 6min figure you are crying about doesn’t mean you get nothing if you can’t do it in 6min, it means you get extra rewards if you can. Either way you are rewarded.

They really have made it so players that want to play together and coordinate can experience content and be rewarded for playing that way, and also for players who want to not think and not play cohesively (mindlessly), all while playing the same content. I honestly think you don’t know what you want from a game. You want to play mindlessly but get the exact same rewards as players who play strategically and coordinate, is that it?

@ Draknar “He’s merely buying them. That’s about as little effort as it takes.”

You have no idea what you are blabbering about if you think that you can have an entire collection of minis by just “buying them.”
OP must have put a heck of a lot of effort if he has a full collection.

Exclusive minis are on the gem store, all else can be bought on TP (for gold, likely converted from gems purchased with CC, but that’s speculation). As for ones that require content (liadri for example), I already addressed that in the 2nd paragraph of my first post. OP was the one talking about how much real money he spent in the gem store for his collection not me…

Either way, if OP is wanting to continue his collection, he will have to do all content necessary, not just the content he wants to do.

World Completion Suggestion

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Draknar.5748

Draknar.5748

Gift of exploration is for legendaries. Legendaries take months to make. I can almost guarantee that your server will either cap the areas you can’t access your first round mapping at some point, or it will change colors over those months. Either of those gives you access.

If this was true at that Legendaries take months to make, then why can I buy one from the trading post in less than 30 seconds?

Also im not disputing that a dedicated WvW player could get all of WvW mapped in under a week, maybe 2 depending on the matchup/ how strong that server is, but sadly 98% of this game are not WvW dedicated and they full under the causal players this game is aimed at, and under the current setup, the map completion does not work.

Fact is, a WvW only player will not care that the PvE player doesn’t have to map WvW, and a PvE only player will not care that the WvW player doesn’t have to map PvE for the same result, so time is a mute point.

Moot point for starters. And secondly, what’s your logic behind “If this was true at that Legendaries take months to make, then why can I buy one from the trading post in less than 30 seconds?”?

The fact they sell for thousands of gold on the trading post proves they take months, if anything, not the opposite. If someone puts in all that effort for months to make a legendary, you better believe they are going to charge thousands for it. If legendaries were very easy to make, prices for them would be in the toilet.

Just don’t understand your correlation.

If you purchase your legendary from the TP you don’t need to worry about map completion in the first place, which would make this entire post moot.

You can’t say you’ve quit the game more than once like some of these posters have been. “I quit 2 months ago, then I came back and played a little, then I quit again for a few months, then I tried it again after the patch…”

That’s not quitting, that’s taking a break from the game. Quitting implies done for good. If you are spending your time on the forums of a game you’ve “quit” then you haven’t quit, you are merely taking a break and keeping yourself informed to judge when to come back.

Exclusive Tournament of Legends only mini...

Draknar.5748

I realy dont care for minis. They are nothing special nor nothing that you should get hyped over. If you want dat mini so badly then go and enter the competition. Eventhough i still dont see how its the end of the world if you dont get it???

As for legendaries- OP would you have shut up if anet would have announced something like “3000g for each of the winners”?
The only logical reason i see for anet pronoucning that winners will get legendaries is cause it seems like its the only none dull reward comparing to something like gold for example.

People allways find something to moan over.

I don’t think you understand OP’s point of view. There are many complaints found in these forums but this is actually a legitimate point.
There is a large number of collectors out there who have spent a considerable amount of time, money and effort to keep up with a mini collection, this will be the last straw for many such players.
Also most such collectors are only asking for an alternate way of acquiring this mini, if that is not something feasible then Anet should make sure its possible to sell this on the TP.

No, OP already stated he spent money on the gem store for his (exclusive) minis (hence his threat to not spend any more money on the gem store). That is not him putting time or effort, just money. Effort to complete his collection would be him entering a PvP tournament to try and earn yet another piece for his collection. That’s effort. Confirming your saved CC information and then clicking on the button for the mini sets in the gem store is not effort, nor time. And before the argument for time spent earning money is made; if he has a regular job, he has to already put that time in to get that money. He isn’t putting in extra time to get these minis. He’s merely buying them. That’s about as little effort as it takes.

Now of course there are minis that cannot be purchased that do require effort, such as mini-Liadri. But if OP is willing to put the time and effort into getting mini-Liadri, then that time and effort needs to also be put into the tournament. If he indeed is an actual collector. When he decided to collect minis, there was no stipulation that they would only be available from X type of game play. There was always the possibility there could be exclusive minis available from WvW, PvP, maybe even some exclusive local event that he literally would be unable to even attend. He should prepare himself now for those possibilities.

TL:DR- He doesn’t have the luxury of being able to collect all minis while only playing game types he wants to.

Exclusive Tournament of Legends only mini...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/win-a-legendary-weapon-in-tournament-of-legends-2/

“If your team doesn’t come in first place, don’t fret – you’ll still be eligible to win other exciting prizes such as precursors, Black Lion Weapon Tickets, or the exclusive Tournament of Legends miniature Llama!”

So I have spent 10-20 bucks nearly every month since release to keep up with acquiring every mini-pet in this game. Now you are releasing a spvp exclusive mini….

This is not acceptable, first of all you reward pvp players legendary weapons for only playing one aspect of the game. The rest of us had to play all aspects to accumulate enough to acquire legendary weps. < This is still acceptable since we had the option of acquiring a legendary in an alternate way.

But why lock an exclusive mini behind a spvp tournament which only a handful of players will win or qualify to get? Why are you punishing your loyal customer who has been supporting your game by shelling our more than what I would pay for a subscription based game?

If this mini is not available in an alternate way then I guarantee you, I will not be spending another dime on this game in the future. Also there are many collectors such as me that will simply not spend any additional money on this game.

You are not being “punished” by there being an exclusive mini pet available only to tournament participants. You are simply not being rewarded for not participating. Big difference.

A true collector would enter the tournament. I don’t know the actual requirements to get the mini obviously, but if all participants get one, then you really have no excuse for not getting this mini. They should specify what nets you a mini honestly.

So suck it up and join the tournament if you honestly want every mini in the game. That’s what being a collector is all about. You can’t claim to be a collector of every mini, see a mini you want, but then refuse to do the content necessary to get it. A true collector does what it takes to complete their collection.

For your sake I hope that all participants get minis. But you need to participate, not whine about how you have to do content you don’t like to get something you chose to collect and then threaten never to purchase gems again if they don’t appease you.

I won’t stop because I can’t stop.

lol yes of course, that “pvp” that WvW map completion requires.

If my gf, who is terrible at video games, can do map completion in WvW without engaging one person (fact), then I’m thinking you can too. It honestly sounds like you probably get anxiety thinking about competitive play, to the point you get angry and rage quit. If you had even stepped foot in WvW you would realize that you can indeed map WvW without doing any PvP, just gotta sometimes take the long way around (avoid roads and such) and also if certain points aren’t in your server’s control, you leave and check back later. Hit B, enter color map you need completed, load in, hit M to see map, see if points you need are held by your color, if not, leave WvW, continue on with your PvE. It’s really that simple. Enjoy playing WoW lol.

World Completion Suggestion

Draknar.5748

I read a post recently about someone talking about having to complete the map and only needing 3 points in WvW that they could not get because of the server they where on etc, and where that is 1 person im sure there are many many others who detest having to map WvW to get the gift of exploration for making a legendary,

So why not split the WvW / PvE map completion for the Gift of Exploration, if you complete the PvE world and never go into WvW you get 1 Gift as a reward, if you complete the WvW maps you get 1 Gift, so if you complete both you get the normal 2 gifts,

I know WvW only players who do not want to map PvE and I know PvE players who do not want to map WvW, this seems like a fair balance, maybe?

The time difference to complete each is nowhere close to even. There are 30 maps to complete in PvE (including cities), which include renown hearts for most of them. Compared to 4 maps in WvW, 3 of which are identical to each other and none require hearts to complete.

Just wouldn’t be fair in my opinion.

I’m not convinced. How many traits are available to a new player through normal gameplay? And what would a new player consider normal? We’re talking new player, not us rolling a new alt.

With the previous // With the current system a new player could:

Start reading/learning about his own traits at lvl 11
Now he has to wait until 30.

He could try out builds and learn the advantages of his grandmaster talents from lvl 60
Now he has to wait until 80.

The way this community works, it is unlikely for a new player to hit explorable dungeons before lvl 80. Now it is even more unlikely since we will start seeing players lvl 80 who will have absolutely no clue about his own traits because not only he didn’t had the chance to equip them but now he doesn’t even have them!

Sounds like he should hop in HoTM and take a look at his traits then….they are all unlocked in PvP. He can test builds and everything….

Like PvP is a good place to test PvE builds
If you get destroyed the trait is good ? Is that your idea ?

You’re thinking of builds differently than I am in this context. When I say test builds I mean they can go into HoTM play around with their traits, read up on them, maybe they are interested in different weapons, maybe certain traits favor certain weapons and they want to study them and come up with builds based on their weapon of choice. That’s what I meant by trying builds. In practice PvP and PvE are very different, that’s a given.

I doubt brand new players think too much on nailing down their meta builds until 80 when they can start collecting the necessary gear for it. Most are focused on hitting 80 first, the rest comes after.

> Player with the house stands around looking at his beds and pictures or whatever, then what?

This is how player housing ends up pretty much 100% of the time. It’s omg something we all want and is amazing. But a) you don’t care about looking at other people’s houses, or if you do, you do it once then stop caring and b) you design your house, stand in it, look around, then shrug your shoulders and leave.

It’s a lot of time and money developing a feature that sounds great on paper but quickly becomes boring in implementation. You will have fun with your house for about as long as a typical LS event. How many people do you think care about what style chair or table they have, will spend money or gold on exclusive decorations, or will seek out content that rewards decorations for a house that no one sees but you unless you beg them to come check out your awesome house that they could care less about.

Maybe I’m not in the majority here, but if most players are like me, they will see housing as merely a novelty that will rarely be utilized to the extent the proponents of housing want to see.

We can wait to see how popular WSO’s player housing is. My guess is it will be praised for being amazing and then find out that no one really cares about it after the novelty wears off.

Free transmutations for gear under level 80?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Draknar.5748

I like to play around with different armor configurations, and sometimes things don’t look quite the way I want them to in the preview window (due to lighting effects, animations, etc).

I was thinking, wouldn’t it be nice to have gear that’s under level 80 be free to transmute? At this point, no one is transmuting armor unless it’s gear they’ll be using in the long run (level 80 rares or higher). I think it would be nice to have a set of sub-optimal gear that I can use to play with armor styles.

It doesn’t even have to be level 79 and under gear. Level 60 or even level 40 gear with free transmutes would be sufficient for experimenting.

Believe it or not I’ve been transmuting armor for my non-80 alts pretty regularly. I typically do armor upgrades at 20, 35, 60, and then of course 80. I transmute at each of those stages. I happened to have 100+ charges so it never bothered me, and I still have 60 or so remaining.

But I’m sure I’m the exception to the majority. I would much rather not have to use charges on non-80 gear, but I want my characters to look awesome from the get-go. Once my level 80s have their “look” I rarely change it. Maybe one piece randomly if something better comes along, but that’s 1 charge once in a blue moon.

A question about GW2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Draknar.5748

If it wasnt for the sub

EQ2 is free-to-play now, bro. Has been for a while, along with EQ1.

Only that it has the worst F2P system ever, and you directly have to pay if you don’t want to play with naked characters.

Get 500 armor smith (initial investment—you will make back this money), craft bolts of damask, sell bolts of damask. You can only do 1/day because of the daily cap, but even when you buy all the mats on the TP, you are netting almost 4g per transaction.

Actually its 1g17s .. and it seldem was much higher if you don’t use buy-orders.

http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/46741

If you aren’t using buy orders you are doing yourself a disservice. You can easily save 3g from buy orders, especially on the silk scraps and linen/wool/cotton. Match highest buy order. For silk scrap you should NEVER pay over 2s/piece. If you match highest your buy order will be filled within 5min. The other scraps take longer with buy orders because less supply, but we’re still talking within a couple of hours. I typically put buy orders in before I go to bed, then when I get home from work before the daily reset, I collect all of my items, do my craft, and sell my items.

I’ve done the calculation on the costs. I even included ecto cost even though I have 500+ in bank and so I don’t actually need to have that come out of pocket. Profit is like 3g96s on average for me buying everything with buy orders—(and technically +37s, so 4g33s, because I don’t buy ectos, but that’s specific to me).

Also worth noting. Prices for damask can vary on the market. Some days you can get 14g25s for them, others 15g+. Never just match lowest seller. Always assume the market will fluctuate and eventually yours will come up for sale. Happens 100% of the time. If the lowest seller is 14g25s, I put it up for 14g75s. Won’t sell immediately, but typically in 1-2 days its gone. Anything over 14g75s I match lowest seller. It’s stupid to lose 50s because you want it sold sooner rather than later. You don’t make any interest on your gold so let it sit longer, it will mean more money in the long run.

EDIT: took a look at my spreadsheet after work: 3g17s is my profit based on average buy order prices (and this figure assumes I paid for ectos on TP, which I don’t have to, so my actual profit is closer to 3g50s—). Basically always use buy-orders.

Draknar.5748

…he’s complaining that earning gold – and by extension, the ability to purchase items – has been made more difficult.

…changes have been made to make it harder to earn gold…

I just don’t believe people when they say things like this. I’ve never had more gold in this game. It’s never been easier to me to get gold. Have you actually tried running dungeons recently? You used to get next to nothing, now they shower you in rewards. You can get 10-20 gold a day running a few of the easy paths.

While I agree that money is much easier to come by these days, I would urge you not to imply someone can make 10-20g/day running “a few of the easy paths”.

To make 10g/day running dungeons you would need to run 7 dungeons or so. For 20g/day, well obviously we’re talking more than that. A few of the easy paths will net you an easy 5g/day.

I agree with most of your point but I feel that part misrepresented the reality.

So, for those of you who want some easy money. Here’s what you can do to get a regular income for relatively little work, although some initial investment is required.

Get 500 armor smith (initial investment—you will make back this money), craft bolts of damask, sell bolts of damask. You can only do 1/day because of the daily cap, but even when you buy all the mats on the TP, you are netting almost 4g per transaction. Do that in conjunction with a few dungeon runs a day (AC, CoF, HoTW easy paths) and a few world bosses (pretty much every rare that drops sells for ~35s, most bosses drop 2 guaranteed and are super easy to kill).

You will be making 10g+/day profit easy playing ~1-2hrs total (depending on the efficiency of your dungeon group). You can skip the dungeon part and just do craft and focus on world bosses only and get the same results, you may just have to play a little longer is all.

I don’t think a lot of people realize how well Rare gear sells. You should pretty much TP all rare items you get versus trying for the random ecto. The way I look at it, selling the rares is guaranteed 35s, versus salvaging and hoping for the chance at an ecto worth what: 37-40s? If you are trying to gather ectos, then just think of each Rare as an ecto, sell the rare and buy an ecto for like 3s out of pocket.

They really did make money super easy to get, even after the train is gone.

With world bosses you pretty much have to commit to doing them for an extended period of time. Almost like a dungeon. There’s very little time to rest if you actually go for each boss on the 15min mark. I’m honestly fine with the current dragonite drop system. I mean, every hour or so there’s a big boss that gives 15-25 ore, with bosses every 15min dropping 3-5. You could pretty much be earning almost 50 ore/hr which is plenty fair, can’t see why people find this a bad drop rate.

Plus if you really wanted to you could limit yourself to the major dragons/karka queen/golem, which would net you well over 50/day, plus have time in between each fight to run dungeons or something.

OP is suggesting what pretty much every single player RPG is doing these days. Paid DLC. You finished main story, now you want to play some new side quests? That’ll be $15 please.

GW2 already has way more gameplay on its own than ANY single player game. I would not be utterly insulted if they had all new content purchasable (assuming it was good—otherwise they would quickly see sales drop and then back to the drawing board).

So instead of $15 for an additional 8-10hrs gameplay like with most DLC. We would get bi-weekly $2 DLC that would “hopefully” be ~4hrs of gameplay each.

I would prefer not purchasing of course. But if they wanted to I wouldn’t be against it.

Sorry OP, you clearly joined a group that advertised for certain classes, and then got upset they booted you?

Worth noting: a player can hit 14k AP without stepping foot in a dungeon. You could very well be a dungeon noob and have 14k AP. Your AP alone isn’t a statement about your dungeon-ing abilities. Source: I have 13k AP and there are plenty of dungeon paths I’ve never even stepped foot in, if some group wanted to speed run X path I’ve never done, I would be a hindrance. I wouldn’t be bad at it, but I wouldn’t be up to speedrunning caliber, where you don’t even need to speak you just knock it out. I would be all like “are we skipping these?” “what’s this encounter like?” “do I need reflect/stability for this?” etc.

Plus, if I was to be on, let’s say my Mesmer, which is my 7th level 80 character. I am significantly worse at that class than my Guardian or my Elementalist, so should they assume because I have 13k AP that I’m awesome with every class? How would people know which character is my main versus some alt that I’m still trying to figure out.

Bad players = bad players. Good players = good players.

It’s that simple. A good group with good players in any set-up will run dungeons faster than bad players in full zerk. The problem with the “meta” is that bad players hit 80, hear “well you pretty much need to go zerk or go home”, get a bunch of zerk gear and then think they are hot kitten, but die constantly in dungeons, slowing their whole group down.

In my experience, more often than not the zerk player goes down the most. But a good zerk player is indeed valuable, which is why I have a short list of acceptable zerk players I will play with. I don’t PUG zerkers, that’s just asking for trouble.

If he’s still a guildie, why not ask in guild chat? “Hey, who was it I lent money to the other day?” If they volunteer the info awesome, if everyone stays quiet then it could be a) they aren’t logged in (make note of that) or b) they are avoiding you so they don’t have to pay you back. Which means a) you picked a bad person to lend money to, plus if you can’t even remember their name why even lend the money or b) your guild doesn’t have any kind of standards as far as the people they invite in (i.e. thieves, scammers being welcome— that’s how guild vaults get cleaned out).

90% of the LFG’s is still “LF ZERKERS ONLY!”
But if you find yourself a group of normal people , its way more fun to play, but hey takes longer.

Actually, 90% of open LFG’s are for ZERKERS ONLY because all of the other non-zerker groups fill instantly. I’m not just saying this as a theory, this is actually fact. I’ve sat and watched CM LFGs, TA LFGs, HOTW LFGs, etc you’ll see an LFG pop up that isn’t asking for zerker, within 30secs that thing is filled and off the list. Whereas the zerker only groups linger because people are less likely to join them. So when you look at the LFG you only see zerker requests.

Easiest test of this: create your own LFG. See how quickly people join. You will be shocked at how many people actually prefer not running in a zerker only group. Make sure you specify casual run, any build.

I think the fastest I’ve filled a group for let’s say AC p1 casual all welcome, was something like 8 seconds.

I guess bad was too harsh of a word. Let’s go with inexperienced.

You can have an experienced PUG that can complete all of these newly “nerfed” paths without any problem whatsoever.

It’s the players that only know how to stack / “exploit” (to use the term loosely) the encounters that are complaining that now its harder. It isn’t harder. At all.
