try to survive long enough to get the survivor achievement with anything but a guardian, make something out of it instead of using an already OP profession and complain that “it’s to easy”.
Do you mean the achievement for quicksand? Because its hilariously easy with a necro. Death Shroud anyone? I tried on my guardian 10x and failed, swap to my barely geared necro? Did it first try.
There are videos of every class doing every achievement. Some are easier to play than others, but by no means is any profession difficult compared to another. You have two categories: easy and easier.

This must give the Devs headaches. Threads asking for content for sub-Level 80 characters, and threads asking for content that challenges even max-Level characters.
They knew what they were signing up for when they decided to develop an MMO lol. Darned if you do, darned if you don’t.
Some other headache inducers:
-Underwater combat sucks! I miss underwater combat we need moar!
-Tequatl/Triple Trouble is too hard! Tequatl/Triple Trouble is a joke!
-We need more group based content! We need more solo content!
-Jumping puzzles are awesome! I hate jumping!
-We want vertical gear progression! Ascended gear? I quit!
-Give us mounts! We hate mounts!
-Player housing would be awesome! Player housing is a waste of resources!
-We want new zones! We don’t like the new zones!
-We need harder content for skilled players! Content is too hard we need it easier so it is more accessible!
I’m sure we could come up with more.

Play how you want hmmm you mean play few metas or die ?
I get what you’re saying, but as someone who has played WvW quite a bit I have to say that I don’t play any of the meta builds and I’m not keeling over dead.
I don’t play zerker meta in PvE either and I’ve had no problem completing all dungeon paths and fotm.

I think it would actually be really nice if you got an added reward for doing a full clear. You can keep current rewards for the speedrunners, but if you did a full clear (i.e. every mob killed), you get double or even triple the reward. That would be quite awesome actually.

There are actually some nice pistol skins, the problem is that they are typically small and unnoticeable. At least I find I don’t notice people’s pistols very often. Swords, staves, greatswords, hammers, shields, bows you notice right off the bat. Foci, warhorns, pistols you typically don’t.

I know plenty of people with over 14k AP that only have one character.
In fact, I find it hard to believe that after 2 years of playing you don’t have 5k AP at least. Hopefully you utilize the daily and monthly achievements. They are quick and easy AP. Hit all JPs, that’s an easy chunk of AP. Mini-games offer good AP as well, check ’em out!
Look to see what you are close to on slayer and weapon master achievements then go and kill those types of monsters/use those weapons.
It sucks that people use AP as a metric to see if you are good or not, but that’s life really. If you know that’s what people look at, then there’s no reason not to pursue increasing that number. Everyone knows that there are times when someone with high AP may not be a good player and someone with low AP is a good player, but on average, high AP implies a deeper understanding of the game’s mechanics, even if it isn’t always the case.

I would rather see shield usable as a 2H weapon over dual wield. You could actually do some damage with a shield using both hands. Good knockdown, lots of swiping and slamming.

OP, google some good warriors and good rangers, you will see their playstyles are very different even though both ckittene the same weapons.
Mesmer and Guardian can both use staff and greatsword, but they are nothing alike.

You know, I get what OP is saying, but is there some kind of MMO out there that I’ve never heard of that has completely new content available every single day?
Because honestly what it sounds like is that OP wants each LS release to fill an entire two week’s worth of content so by the time the next one comes out he can move on to the next one without ever having to go back to old content.
I’ve played pretty much every major MMO and whenever there was an expansion I would play for two-three weeks, hit the new level cap and complete all of the new dungeons save for probably a raid, at which point the next 6month-1yr ends up with me playing the same raids/dungeons/content over and over until the next expansion, which can also be completed in a matter of weeks. That’s how it has been done in every other MMO.
Why is GW2 being held to some ridiculous standard where each partial update needs to completely occupy players’ time for a full two weeks when most full expansions barely occupy people that long—and that’s with a full blown paid for with real money expansion.

@BlueZone A product or service being bad is not the only trigger for improving it. Vayne is correct that improving things happens even if a product is already good. Things always have room for improvement; if they didn’t then I wouldn’t be enjoying my Double Stuft Oreos as an after-work snack. I can’t even go back to regular Oreos, they may as well discontinue them.
@Vayne While I agree that what BlueZone is ultimately trying to say is that the LS1 was bad and that’s the only reason it was improved (which in itself is merely opinion); his opinion isn’t without merit. It was pretty obvious that LS1 received overwhelmingly negative feedback and I’m confident that negative feedback was a major contributor to the changes we’ve seen in LS2 (which I think is better than LS1 so far already). I wouldn’t have gone so far as to say that LS1 was bad, but it wasn’t great and there were definitely areas that needed improvement. BlueZone just went with the exaggerated statement approach.
None of it is worth arguing over. Some people hated LS1, some people liked it, and some people merely tolerated it. Opinions are like as- well you know.

Taimi: “Boss, you’ve been pondering for three hours now, you gonna let us know what you think is going on?”
You: “Er, yes, well you see, with these vines and that roar we heard and all of this ley line stuff, this is clearly the work of an Elder Dragon” looks to see if everyone is buying the story
Taimi: skeptical “An Elder Dragon? Really? Which one?”
You: (Crap, she’s calling me out on this, OK, think, think, think) “Well, do doubt this dragon is using plants as weapons, and of course cough ancient writings speak of a plant-controlling dragon named gulp Mordremoth?”
Taimi: “You don’t sound too confident in that, what ancient writings?”

I’m curious what wonders OP is thinking no WPs will do. Was there some kind of focus group done that determined most GW2 players were bat-kitten crazy?
The focus group was called the forums.
Well then that makes total sense. I believe I participated in that focus group.

What’s so hard for people to understand that you can get that same AP and title. No one is stopping you.
If you were somehow prohibited from ever getting that title, sure I could understand everyone’s delicious salty tears streaming down their cheeks, but complaining that you weren’t straight handed the AP and title (even though you do not meet the requirements of two duplicate legendaries) is just silly.
I guess OP will need to “craft” (read: purchase from TP) his 9th legendary that will be a duplicate of one he already has so he can get a measly 25pts and an underwhelming title.

As someone who frequently creates his own LFG’s advertising “casual run all welcome” I can tell you that I’ve never once thought to check someone’s AP.
I’ve never had an issue with the caliber of people who join, any honestly most times the PUG players are legitimately good players. It’s like when they see it is a casual run they decide to be extra patient and helpful.
Only time I have to kick someone is when say a level 35 character joins my group for HoTW or something and I have to explain that they aren’t even close to the level requirement.

The reason a lot of players like Warriors is because they are extremely easy to play and still do respectable damage. Compared to other classes that do significantly more DPS but are harder to play. Warrior is the class I had my GF roll because she’s terrible at video games, that way she can still hold her own and only has to worry about #1 and #2.
Personally I prefer Elementalist/Guardian over Warrior. Both are more useful than a Warrior in PUGs. You really only need 1 warrior for banners, then start looking for the actual useful classes.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
I’m sure you can deal with every class if you really wanted to. I’m just saying that with claims like “There is not much point in bringing more than 1 warrior” and “Anyone who puts restrictions based on AP or armor type are looking to be carried” and “Most pugs don’t understand WHY they even stack” and “Rangers, Necros, Engineers all have this horrible stigma, but they’re all very viable creating a smooth run.”, this person definitely does not know what they’re talking about.
I bet you still think warriors have the best dps, don’t you?
I think he honestly does.

" I don’t care about the technical limitations, blah, blah… Just MAKE IT WORK somehow! We actually WANT this."
I’m pretty sure Anet does not have the budget to bring in all those voice actor’s again.
I met the woman who did the Charr female voice at a convention. She wanted $30 for a signed print. $30! (she was kind of a kitten) More money than actual known actors were asking. I bet the voice actors ask for unreasonable amounts of money. And you can’t necessarily go with different voice actors because then you lose your immersion. The actors probably know this too.

The only parts you can replay are parts with combat. I believe you are talking about the part where you go into Scarlet’s hideout and talk with your companions. That part is not replayable. The re-playable parts are the ones with combat essentially that the achievements are tied to.
I believe you can have an alt character start the Living Story and experience it in its entirety. Would have to do the whole thing over but you would see if you missed anything.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Ok enough with the Aspects already as well as the ever present jump here to jump there to jump up to jump down. Not everyone is of the Mario generation and not everyone grew up on Sonic the Hedgehog. A Living Story where your skills are secondary to some skills picked up from finding crystals just does not appeal to me and in my opinion they are already well overdone.
Take for example the Dive Point in Dry Reach. To get to that point you have to be extremely quick with the keyboard/mouse combination and hope you can get tot the top before your Aspect runs out of charges. This is all fine and dandy for a Mario super achiever but for us aging folks with slower reflexes it is frustrating as all hell. What is wrong with having the character you decide to use in these Living stories use their own skills?
To put it bluntly I have given up on the Living Story for this episode. it is just not worth the aggravation to get the achievements.
Are you talking about the optional dive goggles spot at the very top that has nothing to do with Living Story but is just an optional JP/dive point of the zone?
The Living Story is taking place in the zone, the zone isn’t the Living Story. The zone is a new zone. It will have diving goggles/JPs/POIs/Vistas like a normal zone. Do you complain about dive goggles in other zones? Probably not because they are optional as well.
Some of this content is meant to be hard for players with more skill. That’s why they make it optional. At no point in the Living Story do they tell you to get to the diving goggles, you don’t even have to go to the platform below the diving goggles in the Living Story.

You have to click the big green star, and then click start story or unlock story or something.
Simply logging in does not seem to qualify. They may want to reword any statements that imply only logging in is required.
I mean, you have to log in and click your mouse twice, however long you figure that would take you, so it’s almost as easy as just logging in.

Considering the tears that have been poured on the forums over simply contested waypoints and people having to run short distances to their destination, I don’t think we would be able to handle the flood that would come about from removing WPs.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Man, can’t believe people are having an issue with this. Before wardrobe you had to make two of the same 1h weapon if you wanted “the look”. After wardrobe you only had to make one and then you could duplicate the skin. 100% of people who had a duplicate legendary after the wardrobe would not have made that second had they known a patch would undermine the amount of work/money they invested. They ended up with only 1 legendary skin for twice the cost.
So Anet decided to be charitable and compensate them, not with money, but with AP, a number that honestly means nothing in the long run (as someone with 13k+ AP I can tell you that 25AP means jack-kitten, I can make that in a day), and a title that basically tells people “Woops I made 2 legendaries before wardrobe patch lawlz”.
So here comes the peanut gallery having purchased 5 different legendaries (of which you ended up with 5 different legendary skins) wanting to also get 25AP and a title.
That title and AP is not for you. It’s for the people who felt screwed over by the wardrobe/skin change. You were unaffected, so why should you get compensated. But even knowing that you continue to complain, completely ignoring the fact that you can still get that title and AP. Nobody is restricting you from getting it, but I’m guessing 2000g isn’t worth 25AP and a title to you otherwise you would be OK doing it.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
You cannot level 1-80 from the story line quests. They expect you to level your character by exploring different zones until you reach the appropriate level for the next mission.
Also, Ranger is just fine at end-game, don’t listen to people who say it isn’t, they don’t truly understand how this game works. The people that would reject you are the ones that say zerk warrior is the highest DPS in the game. Those people are what the rest of us like to call “idiots”.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Is this title temporarily available or something? Pretty sure you can wipe the tears from your face and then start working on buying a second legendary of one you already own and get the title as well. Nobody cares if you have 5 legendaries, the title is for two of the same, so if you want that title you know what needs to be done.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Well then heck, let’s make fractal weapon skins trade-able as well. I’m sure everyone would love that. And by everyone I mean the people that want to have an item they didn’t work for, yet still give the illusion that they did.
In my book, personally, fractal weapon skins > legendary skins simply because you can’t buy them on TP. You know the guy with a fractal GS likely had to do a ton of runs just to get it because of RNG. The guy with Eternity/Twilight/Sunrise running around? Likely purchased from the TP.
It’s nice having skins that aren’t available on TP because then not everyone is running around with it.
Like my yellow super staff. Can’t buy it on TP, so I run that staff more than any other.
So if you like the skin, and you want the skin, but you don’t want to work for the skin, then you don’t get the skin.

There is nothing to fix as It’s not “broken” as is evidenced by many players that actually have them.
Now if you want to request that they change the method (or add another), that is a valid discussion.
TBH, if casual “poor” players (which includes me) could get a Legendary easily, they would not be very “Legendary”.
I have to disagree… In prior days people could farm gold more easily as well as precursors and mats were loads cheaper.
If they were as cheap as they used to be it wouldn’t be an issue… but the price of these things are skyrocketing out of control.
There is a guy in our guild that literally has 8 Legendary weapons…
I remember COF farming groups of 4 warriors + 1 Mesmer from back in the day… When I finally decided to level a Mesmer… they nerfed dungeons.
Some people would farm places like “Union Waypoint” at Lyssa. They could afk farm for mats.
There were numerous T6 mat locations people could farm before ANET nerfed them.
The cost for newer or even not full hardcore players to own a legendary is spiraling out of control. So NO I don’t mean… “change” … I mean “fix”
When precursors were 100g, 85% of people had less than 50g to their name (speculative, obviously no numbers exist).
Gold farming has become significantly easier than it used to be. You can run every dungeon path once per day. So OP claiming a big ole nerf:they nerfed being able to farm the same (aka easiest) path over and over and over and over. That is not a nerf to making gold, it’s a nerf to cheesing one path for easy gains. I don’t know how many runs you did per day back when you were farming (what I assume was CoF p1), but I’m sure it wasn’t more than the total number of dungeon paths there are total. Maybe go out and try different paths? AC all paths, CoF p1, p3, HoTW all paths, TA all paths. That’s 11 dungeon paths, all of which are considered to be relatively easy to run.
Or do world bosses every day and sell the rares, or salvage them and sell the ectos (at ~40s/ea, some yellows can potentially net you 1.2g).
What are you doing with your laurels? If you are working toward a legendary, then I assume you have all of the ascended trinkets you need, so use all laurels toward T6 mats from laurel vendor. Or if you need strictly money, sell the T6 mats you get from the laurels.
Point is: There are options to make money if you actually wanted to.
I’ve been playing this game since beta and making money is vastly easier now than it used to be.

Will agree spirit weapons on Guardian are rarely used. Shield is used quite a bit in FoTM runs, but I’ve only ever seen someone using the other weapons by mistake. As in they are completely new to the game and don’t know they are terrible yet.

WAT!
Think he means that you have to be level 80 to get credit for the Living Story, hence it can be considered end-game. Obviously if you aren’t 80 you upscale to 80 if you join someone who is doing the LS, but you don’t get the LS credit unless you are 80 I believe.
It is designed to take place after completion of the Personal Story, which would classify it as end-game as well.

Want to be at max range? Ok, your buffs won’t be as useful.
Want your buffs to be useful? Change weapon set up to be able to attack at a closer range. (Rangers have quite a few melee-mid ranged weapon options—you don’t have to only use bow)
This isn’t rocket science.

What? xpac content = new gears, weapons, dungs, skills, new bosses, etc possibles races/classes.
When the heck has this bi-weekly update system produced something like that?
Majority of these bi-weekly updates are ONLY focused story + new gemstore stuff and tool tip updates LOL…. .its been 2 years and still haven’t seen anything remotely close to xpac like content being added to this game. By this time around, GW1 had factions and that xpac alone had more content added than what anet has added to GW2. And i mean NEWCONTENT , not some silly features and revamps to runes and terrible class balancing
From initial release until now, I can list the following additions from Living Story from memory:
- Southsun Shore, an entire zone, complete with events and a major boss.
- Southsun Survival, Crab Toss, Sanctum Sprint (I won’t mention the holiday mini games since they aren’t permanent)
- Edge of the Mists, a gigantic WvWvW zone
-Fractals of the Mist, which has I don’t know how many different dungeons in them these days, none of which were out at release
- New Aetherblade path in TA
- New healing skills for every class
- 10+ new armor sets, sure they are available on gem store, but who cares that’s where the money comes from
- tons of new weapon skins, Love-laced, Phoenix, Dreamthistle, etc. etc.
- lots of musical instruments
- Dry Top, new zone, which obviously only a portion is available, but will be an entire zone
- Completely updated UI for managing skins, dyes, PvP builds, etc.
- Ascended armor, Ascended weapons, new stat combos
- A plethora of new back-piece skins
I’m sure someone else can add to the list.
Point is. When you add all of this crap up, it’s an expansion’s worth of content. Problem is, you whiners will literally complain about everything. Pretty sure the responses to this will be along the lines of: pfft FoTM sucks, EoTM nobody likes and is a zergfest, ascended armor is a grind, new UI sucks, Southsun is boring, karka queen is lame, those mini-games stink, etc. etc. Fact is, whether you like the content or not is completely irrelevant, they have put out plenty of content for free over the course of 2 years.
Just because you don’t like the content doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

Dry Top is IMO the best source of dragonite at the moment. Those buried chests when the sandstorm is up. You need a key, but I opened three last night and got 15-17 dragonite from each, and it took me about 10min to get to them.

Anytime an MMO has a half off sale it’s bad. The die hard players are going “Say, I payed twice as much for this crap?” The people that are thinking of buying must ask themselves “Say, Why are they cutting the price in half, do they need the business?” Either way, it’s a slap in the face of the ones that already paid.
So, when Skyrim was on sale for $30.00 on Steam this summer, everyone should assume the game is garbage then right, and that everyone who paid full price prior should be up in arms about it?
Every MMO ever made has had reduced pricing to try and get another surge of sales years after release. Box sales aren’t GW2’s major source of income anyways, it’s in-game purchases. They just need to get people in the door.

The adding of achievement points that are expiring helps keep people like me playing. I don’t want to NOT get them, as achievement points do get me more rewards chests and all that garbage, plus a lot of these events give one time only items or minis, which I hate that I feel compelled to get. I hate the living story but I keep playing because they don’t stop them. It is an infuriating cycle.
I assume that, for players like me, it helps Anet keep us in gear until they get their heads out of their butts and do real updates and real zone “expansions” (not literal expansions, although I would pay for that).
You do realize that’s not how AP works with the new LS right? Those achievements are permanent. You can work on them a year from now if you wanted to.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
I actually wanted exactly what they released. Not to release the whole zone at once, but let the players become part of the exploration of it. Once the LS is over and done with the whole zone will be available. This is the best possible way they could have done it. Especially since it seems they are keeping with a 2-week release schedule.
Just because it isn’t what you wanted doesn’t mean it isn’t what other people wanted.

You honestly should have no problem leveling up in this game in full greens. You don’t need to search for gear in this game at all. You can TP green gear for your level or craft it.
If you honestly need stronger gear than that to succeed in GW2’s PvE then you may want to re-evaluate your playing abilities.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Opinion? No its a fact. Go look on the LFG tool and tell me how many PUGs you see doing dungs lol. Every MMO i’ve played usually had a solid number of PUGs for dungs. GW2 doesn’t even have hard dungs. Most are short and simple. But they are just so bad and absolutely worthless because the rewards have been abysmall for the longest time and there has hardly even been any serious updates to dung. Dungs are very much dead content in this game. Theres more people doing spvp, fracs, wvw, open world pve than there are ppl wanting to do dungs….
Sorry bud, that is not fact. Why don’t you log in one of these days, create your own LFG for let’s say “AC p1 all welcome”, tell me it’s dead then. Your group will fill in under 1min guaranteed. Faster than any other MMO I’ve ever played.
Just because you look at LFG and see very little groups posted doesn’t mean that groups haven’t been started and filled constantly before and after you checked.
I’ve never had a problem filling a PUG group. Ever.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
In my opinion, it all really comes down to time. Casual means being able to start and finish content within a smaller time frame. Difficulty is irrelevant IMO. Gauntlet was difficult content but great for casuals because you could play at your leisure. Only have 15min or so to play? You could jump in and do a couple of fights.
You start to lose the casuals when content requires a large time-investment. That’s why most casuals aren’t doing high level FoTM, or FoTM at all—if it takes ~1hr that’s too long for a casual player in most cases. Or why most casuals in other MMOs aren’t doing raids. Just too much time commitment. They need to be able to stop abruptly if say someone comes to the door or a child requires attention and not have wasted the time they had just invested in whatever activity they started.
You can be a skilled player and casual. All comes down to time.

I love the bandwagon complainers the most. They don’t even play GW2 anymore but read the forums and then parrot back everyone’s negative opinions without playing it themselves.
I actually have a friend who just did this. I asked him how he liked LS2 and he says he hates it because he hates jumping puzzles and hates being forced to do it to progress in the game. Of course I asked him what the heck he was talking about, since both jumping puzzles are optional, and he said the story requires you to do so much jumping it might as well be a jumping puzzle. I even asked him point blank if he actually tried the content, which he claimed he did but quit because of how much jumping there was. (I ignored the fact his last login pre-dated the release, I knew what he was doing from the start because that’s the kind of person he is)
I finally convinced him to do the story with me to show me what he was talking about, which he fought me on (probably because he had to download the update first lol). Finally we finished the infamous “jumping puzzle” part without him even realizing it (I honestly think he was waiting for some harder jumps to say “Ha! See this is ridiculous to have to do this!”
We get to the top and I said “Ok, now what part of that would you say was like a jumping puzzle?” (because of course we had done maybe 6-8 jumps) and he said “well don’t we have to go up higher?” and I said “no….. not unless you are trying to get some achievement points” to which he responded “oh….well, I didn’t actually play this part of the story.”
He’s a frequenter of the forums. He plays roughly 1-2hrs/mos yet is one of the most opinionated people against GW2 I know. It’s all based on conjecture and speculation from the other forum haters.
Point is, he automatically believed what negative nonsense was being said because he also dislikes the game and then perpetuates it.
I feel the majority of people in this thread claiming it’s oh so hard and you’re forced to do jumping puzzles have not actually tried the content. They just read some dude saying it’s like a jumping puzzle, decided they also hate jumping puzzles, and then continue on agreeing with those people about how these jumping puzzles are forced on you and it’s not fair and they are paying customers and blah blah.
Anyone who has actually completed this LS2 update thinks those people sound like utter morons because there’s so little jumping.
