Yea, the clip is all that can be added. They were pretty much all temporary open world events. It would take a lot of work to instance all of that. Very little of it was actually instanced. The parts that were have been added as fractals and/or Aetherblade path in TA.
I’d still love a guild mission that was of the Marionette. That fight was so awesome.

except not everyone likes playing the trading post.
That’s a lot of the problem too.
“This game is impossible to make money! I’m always broke!”
Well you could do X, Y, or Z and make some decent money.
“I don’t like doing those things!”
Well I’d like to get paid for playing video games, but that’s not in the cards for me, so I work an office job to make money.
As long as you aren’t spending, you can make money doing pretty much anything in this game. Sell your components, ectos, and supply bags when you’re done doing whatever it is you’re doing. Most people salvage everything, deposit collectibles, then complain they didn’t make any money.
Doing the fractal dailies has proven to be quite lucrative. Despite what the forum warriors might have you believe. I certainly make more from fractals per hour than I ever used to. Just gotta get those dailies done.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
So, what you’re saying, is that you literally walked into every trap a DH can throw down, plus were next to them while they used their GS #2 skill. And somehow the game is flawed? Maybe, gee, I dunno, don’t get next to a DH when they have all their traps down?
I’m not going to complain about players standing in my traps, as I play a DH, but good god most good players have figured out how to avoid them by now. There’s really no excuse. You need some solid stability/stun breaks when up against a DH. If you don’t have those slotted, simply avoid going toe to toe with a DH. Just keep throwing dots on them.
Most DH’s will have traps down and literally won’t move away from his traps in the hopes some poor schlub will walk into the exact scenario you are on here complaining about.
Range condition him and LoS so he can’t range you with LB. If he leaves the protection of his traps, then engage him up close. If he dodges back to his traps, don’t chase, go back to ranged conditions.
Melee-ing a DH is a bad idea in general unless you have crazy amounts of dodges (looking at you daredevils). And if you weren’t melee and you still somehow got hit by every trap plus their GS #2, then I’d say go back to the drawing board on your PvPing.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Wait, how are you forced to buy gems to convert to gold? Why don’t you just save up your money? Clean out your collectibles tab or something.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
As a mostly fractal player these days, I’d say my average per hour doing just fractals, and usually only the 1-50 level difficulty (for the dailies) is around 5g. Usually in an hour I can do 3-4 fractals. That includes selling the stabilizing matrices (45s/ea), ectos from rares (35s each), and opening each fractal encryption (there’s a chance it drops junk items worth 1g+, but mostly 10s ones drop). I’m not even including the Agony infusions which you get a ton of that can easily be crafted up into +8s (worth almost 5g/ea)
No it’s not CoF dungeon speedrunning money or SW train money, but it’s a solid income for doing fun content in a short amount of time. And it’s far more than what you made in fractals pre-HoT. I don’t think people honestly realize how much you can make in fractals. People just look at reward gold, then deposit all of the valuable items and act like they made nothing. Sell that stuff!

Two Rangers in a party is completely fine, especially if one of them is a Druid. Any party that would kick you guys for that is a party you wouldn’t want to join anyway. Also, if your wife can manage to make it through 80 levels of Guardian, I think she would really like Dragon Hunter. It is a light-based ranged bow class with traps. Not exactly an elemental bow as you mentioned, but about as close as it gets considering that your attacks all passively burn mobs. Hope this was helpful. Welcome to GW2!
I second the Dragon Hunter suggestion. I was against it at first. Strongly. I felt I made a guardian to be a paladin type character, not a ranger. Then I started playing Dragon Hunter. It’s hands-down my favorite specialization along with Reaper. It’s so freaking fun to play. Decent ranged damage (they can use longbows), powerful traps, and you’re still tanky. Good mix. You do have to get through quite a bit before you can unlock DH, but I feel its worth it.

How does ArenaNet make money from this esport thing?
I doubt they are making money. Usually the prize money comes from sponsors. You get enough sponsors on board for X dollar amount and you make that the prize pool. Any item prizes like graphics cards, peripherals, software, etc. are all donated from sponsors as well.
With the size of GW2 Esports scene, my guess is if they aren’t sponsored at all (I honestly haven’t looked to see if they are), that the money put up as prize money comes from their marketing budget. $200,000 is pretty easy to come by if they cut some web ads on certain sites for a few months. That or NCSoft HQ is putting in the money from their marketing budget.
I know the company I work for isn’t nearly as big as NCSoft and we have a $1.25mil marketing budget. So I can only assume NCSoft has a much bigger one and $200,000 of it for a tournament to try and legitimize GW2 as an eSport is a worthwhile investment.

Anet, do not listen to these people. I enjoy Jumping Puzzles and want more of them!
If after 30+ years of video games evolution, most with basic jumping mechanics, people still can’t figure out platforming, then they need to call it a day on video gaming. This is basic stuff, people. Since Donkey Kong, as OP said. There’s no excuse for being bad at platforming, outside of a physical ailment.
Sure puzzles I could see not being mandatory, but you people complain if you have to do basic jumping. The kind of jumping a 10yr old would be able to do, simply because you don’t want to…

That one clearly looks likes “Molest ya” as in, “Tiny is gonna molest ya.” If they were going for Mo-Les-Tie-Uh, then they should try alternate spellings. Molistuya for example.

… but do something long enough and you increase your chances of a good outcome.
Many a gambling addict has said the same thing haha. You do increase your chances of a good outcome, in the sense that you have multiple “chances” to get a good outcome. The odds don’t get any better, but you certainly get more chances!

PvP is unbalanced? I play a basic mark/wells necromancer…there is not a single elite spec I haven’t taken apart, typically two at a time. This from a spec that has never been meta, and people have routinely called as low powered.
The problem likely you, OP, have encountered is an inability to 1v1 or an unwillingness to learn the elite spec mechanics. Standard specs that aren’t the go to meta work just fine against all the elites, and many of the meta’s do as well.
As others have said, if you ONLY play for rewards, then GW1 or GW2 is not the game for you. The reward has always been the combat itself.
You fail to see the issue, the issue is that a new player can come into the game play one of the OP metas and kill you with it, not that a veteran can take down most classes.
It’s like the time turret engi was a thing.
Are you suggesting balancing should be around what new players to PvP can and can’t kill?
It should be balanced around veterans, not new players.
Most new PvP players make a pure DPS build (because why wouldn’t you at first?), run in and try to burn down a trap DH, and then are insta killed when all of the traps trigger at the same time. Or they don’t recognize when a guardian has “grabbed” them with either the GS #5 or the DH F1 ability. You need to watch for that because they will try to pull you into the traps. Stability up when you see it.
Sure, new players who are DHs can go a trap build and likely easily kill other new players. So what? Those new players should read up on how to counter a trap DH (they are VERY susceptible to condition builds, like no joke, keep those condis coming, they can’t clear them efficiently, and once they blow their traps, you can keep them dotted at a distance and there’s nothing they can do about it except die, or hope a good teammate shows up to clear their conditions).
There’s a reason the vast majority of casual players steer clear of PvP. It’s not meant for casual players, not if you want to be good at it.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
The last balance patch mostly change visual animation only. Is that what Anet calls balance patch to shake the meta?
If the last “balance” patch only changed visual animations, then my guess is it was a visual animation patch and not a balance patch at all.
As far as I know GW2 doesn’t actually get “balance” patches. They throw in balance changes whenever they feel like it, usually mixed in with other content patches.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
If the expansion is no longer fun for you after 1month, then I’d say pack it up and call it a day on GW2, my friend.
It seems as though reward is all you want to play for and that you never truly found any of the content fun in this game. You seemingly liked dungeons, now they don’t reward you as well, so you don’t like them. Fractals (which is hands-down MY favorite content) doesn’t give good enough rewards after you do the dailies, so my guess is you only do the dailies, if at all. Also you find them boring.
There aren’t really problems with PvP other than people haven’t adapted to the new specs. Trap DHs? I play a trap DH. It was great owning people those first two weeks. Then players caught on. Oh wait, you triggered my traps then ran out of them and put like 6 conditions on me? Guess I’ll just stand here and die…
I’d suggest finding a game you feel is rewarding enough for the time you put in.

Tier4 should be exotic, Tier5 should be ascended.
There shouldn’t be a legendary racial set…
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
1st set: rings from fotm, trinkets from laurels/guild commendations, weapon crafted, armor crafted.
Important to note that I was crafting and selling the time gated materials before I decided to make the armor. Would buy all of the cloth on TP, then craft the damask, and sell it, typically profiting 2-3g eacg go. By the time I was ready to make the armor myself, I had amassed more than enough extra gold to cover all of the cloth costs.
Never really found Ascended armor to be overly expensive.
2nd set of ascended armor and weapons was almost exclusively from FoTM. I think I had to craft the gloves and boots to finish it out.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
GW2 is well known for having a low reward vs time ratio.
If you are looking for a game that makes you feel adequately rewarded for the time you spend, GW2 isn’kitten
That said, I am a die hard GW2 fan. Then again, I’m not the kind of person who cares about rewards so much as gameplay and atmosphere.
But yea, GW2 does not reward proportionately in my opinion.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Wow. Seriously? What difference does it make to you if free accounts buy exotic armor with karma?
Unless you honestly believe that them “leeching karma” physically takes karma away from you (it doesn’t)….
They’re limited to core Tyria anyway. They can’t get into HoT without buying it.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
I think the point is that you can work towards your precursor even if you don’t have hundreds of gold to simply purchase one off of the TP.
Just because materials have a value and you CAN buy them on the TP, doesn’t mean someone can’t simply put time in instead and get the mats they need without buying them if they really wanted.
If you are the kind of person that looks at the materials requirements of crafting the precursor and instantly turn those materials into a gold value and what it would cost you on the TP to get them, then you are absolutely not the target audience of precursor crafting. You are a person who should just buy the precursor on the TP like anyone would have pre-HoT. Simple as that.

Pls call it “God dungeon” because Raid is not for casual player. Obviously, the number of people going down after the raid were released. They may feel bad because they must inescapably adapt themselves to the requirements of the system . They have to find new gear sets. It seems that they need to start over again.
I’d say the term “raid” in itself implies it isn’t for casual players, considering raids pretty much require getting on voice chat and coordinating with other people. Anything needing coordination that requires voice communication is no longer casual.
Sure you could do it without voice communication. But as the flood of “the raid is IMPOSSIBLE” threads have shown, it is not easy.

I’m doing less than one PvE daylie a day, so it takes me ~ a month to get 20 to turn them into a tome of knowledge -
So….zero PvE dailies?
If you want writs, do the PvE dailies. If you don’t care about writs, don’t do them. But don’t sit here saying it’s hard to get writs while purposely not doing the content that gives the writs.
I play the game like I used to – and that is wvw and some node gathering = one wrist “a day” – I hope you get my point now.
Well, then you won’t get as many writs. I don’t know what else to say. You have the information and the ability to get more writs, but if you simply don’t want to play outside of your preferred game type, then you need to be OK with not getting a lot of writs.
I don’t get many badges of honor, because I don’t do much WvW. But I don’t feel it’s a problem that I can’t get badges of honor outside of WvW. If I want badges I need to do WvW. I need badges if I want to make a legendary. I have the option of complaining on the forums that badges need to be available in fractals (my preferred game type), or I can go into WvW and get the badges. I do the latter. But that’s not for everyone I suppose.

If they allowed a race change, then it would need to completely erase all story mission progress and of course your cultural armor would be unwearable.
Other than that, I don’t see why there would be a problem. They probably don’t do it simply because they don’t want to put the time into coding a story reset after someone does a race change.

I hate the raid !
TOO HARD FOR CASUAL PLAYERS !!!!
I don’t really care about all you Hardcore “Give me more pain. Beat me Beat me, Yes Sir may I have another” players.
My guildies and I stop playing HoT after story because it was too hard.
We now tried several times with raids and the same. TOO HARD !!!
Everyone is back in Tyria farming for precursor crafting.
ANET ! Stop listening to Hardcore players !
You have more Casual players in the game than Hardcore players !
Turn down the difficulty !
Wait, you and your friends stopped because the HoT story was too hard? Like it was too hard for a group of you to do? I could maybe see solo being harder than normal, but if you and your friends couldn’t get through HoT story…
Since when did gamers decide that if you can’t beat something your first or second try that it is too hard?
Oh no, you tried several times to beat the raid and failed? That’s normal.
Yes the raids are difficult, for a reason, but not impossible. Raids have always been designed for static teams. That’s how they’ve always been. As time goes on and more and more people successfully defeat bosses, that knowledge will trickle down to the PUG playerbase.
But if you honestly thought, that in the first day, week, or even month of the raid’s release, that PUG groups would be completing it successfully, then you were living in a fantasy world.
I mean these fights require specific group make-ups and mechanics. What if you get 5 druids on your team, or people that don’t know how to boonstrip, or don’t properly communicate to split into 3 groups properly at specific phases.
These aren’t difficult dungeons, these are raids. Each boss will likely require completely different class make-up, build set-ups, weapons, etc. You will need X number of mesmers for boon strip, or Y number of guardians for condi removal, or Z number of DPS that are built to actually deal solid DPS. Not a PVT Guardian with a GS, but actual DPS, that are specced and geared for DPS.
It may even require you change your entire gear stat setup (which is where the legendary armor convenience comes into play).
You need to be on voice chat. You need to coordinate. You need to discuss everyone’s builds ahead of time, maybe swap specialization lines. Maybe a few people will have to swap to a secondary class because you need more necros or something. You can’t do that with PUGs.
I don’t think people are getting this about raids. Maybe you’ve never done raids, and that would be understandable, but if you’ve ever played a game with real raiding, it’s not casual. Not at all.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Exploration: Casual.
Dungeons: Casual
Fractals: Casual (with scaling to harder if you wish to have more of a challenge)
World bosses: Casual
PvP: Casual (in the sense that it’s easy to get into for new players and you can do a match here and there at your own pace for fun)
WvW: Casual in the sense you could get a 3man together and go capture points if you want. Sadly the game mode seems quite barren these days.
Raids: Hardcore.
I’d say GW2 is pretty bang on with having the majority of their content casual friendly. With a minority of it for hardcore players. That’s exactly the way it should be and is representative of their player base.
So what’s the problem? You feel everything should cater to casuals players?
If you strictly mean casual as in 20hrs/week players and not skill based. Then there’s literally nothing that isn’t casual friendly in GW2. Heck even the first raid boss is designed to be defeated in 8min. However much time you put into mastering the encounter to actual do it in that time is completely up to you.
Heaven forbid a game have a learning curve…
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Personally I just never spent it. By the time I was ready for legendaries I had 5mil. For now work on the other items for legendary and play the game as usual. If you have the other items already, then I guess Teq or event trains seem to be the consensus.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
HoT maps have more to explore than any map in any MMO I’ve ever played. They are so in depth and large and involved that I really don’t see how that doesn’t cater to the casual explorer. The mobs are new and are level 80, and I think that’s why everyone feels it is so difficult. People are used to being level 80s down-leveled into a low level map and rolling through everything like it was a joke. Stack and burn, etc.
Now there are new zones that are designed as actual end-game zones, where you can’t literally run through, pull anything you want and burn it down with a few skill clicks.
But is it actually difficult? Not really. Not when you learn what each enemy does. Which ones jump at you to knock you back. Which ones evade range. Which ones use reflect skills, which ones drop AoE, etc. As time goes on you adapt to it and know exactly what you are engaging before you blindly run in like you’re in Queensdale or something.
What many are experiencing is the contrast of content that you can run through mashing 1 while streaming movies and content that requires you to pay attention, utilize different utilities, alter your builds, etc.
What I can’t stand are the people who take their cookie cutter build that has been tried and true in core Tyria, change absolutely nothing, go to HoT, get completely destroyed, and then conclude the areas are too hard.
I feel most people complaining HoT is too hard has a) not changed anything about their build b) has not changed out any of their utility skills and b) not considered running any of the weapons that are out of their comfort zone.
Maybe your core Tyria train setup isn’t the way to go. Maybe as you get to each zone and you see what sort of enemies you’re up against you have to dust off one of the specialization lines you never use so you have access to more condition removal or something.
This play how I want slogan has gotten completely out of hand. “Wait, I might have to rethink my build and maybe use other weapons to utilize different abilities? BUT I DON’T WANT TO! WHAT HAPPENED TO PLAY HOW I WANT! ANET IS A BUNCH OF LIARS! THIS GAME IS TERRIBLE NOW!”
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Raids are supposed to be beaten by only the best players.
If you find them unbeatable, then congratulations! Despite what you may have told yourself before now, you’re not one of the best players. This content isn’t for you.
You now have two choices. Choose wisely, and remember that this is only the first raid. It’s supposed to be the easy one.
Or, you know, considering the raid came out YESTERDAY, it will take time for people to learn the fight and what builds to use.
Yes, you will need to be an above average player, that’s always how raids have been. But you rarely have to be the best player. You just need to be someone who is committed to learning the fights.
If people thought this was going to be as simple as hitting up LFG, jumping in a PUG and knocking the raid out in an afternoon they will have a bad day.
They are typically designed for a static group that can coordinate properly on voice and are able to move around class and build setups as needed.
I think some people thought they would be dungeon+, when in reality it will take some serious coordination and patience to master.
You don’t need to be the best, but you need to put actual effort in, which I know is difficult for the majority of GW2 players who want max rewards with minimal effort.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Why not guardian for boon strip? I can remove 2 condi’s per one shout with my trooper runes. + wings of resolve remove 3 condis and one of the shouts remove all the condis… the problem is only with Feel My Wrath, which is bugged as Trooper runes are not counted towards it
Boon strip and condi removal are two different things. Guardians aren’t so hot at stripping enemy boons. But are awesome at condition removal.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
This was a release patch and bug fix, Balance changes will come soon most likely. They want to get everything else out I guess before major changes, if I recall they will do one once or twice a month now to stop spamming users with hotfixes?
They should do weekly patches.
Does LoL even do weekly balance patches?

Everything is hard until you adapt to it.
Tequatl used to be impossible when it first came out. Then it became farm mode. Then they made it “harder” and everyone said it was impossible. Now it is farm mode.
HoT is no different. Once you get used to the mobs and their abilities, it is easy.
I think some people got used to rolling through Queensdale (or pretty much any core Tyria zone)on their level 80s and being able to take down giant swarms of enemies and decided to continue that playstyle into HoT, with terrible results.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
What? WHAT? Emp shards?! I have thousands and I never step in dungeons. I don’t even know what to do with them anymore besides let my Star eat them.
I pretty much log on, do the dailies that I can complete fastest, do the 2 fractal dailes for the pages, maybe a couple world bosses, and then explore Maguuma. I get roughly 50 emp fragments a day.
There are things in this game that are hard to come by, but Empyreal Fragments certainly are NOT on that list. That’s like saying you have trouble getting Bloodstone Dust.

I’ve received a total of 0 spam whispers since HoT launch. Maybe they know not to whisper me since I report them every time. That or OP is completely exaggerating, but no one on the Internet would ever exaggerate anything, so I don’t know what to say.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
I believe there is a weekly reset on raids (I believe that’s what he’s asking?). Similar to WoW raids.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
I pretty much explore HoT exclusively solo. Haven’t had any problems. Have I died? Yep. But if I died it’s because a) It’s a new mob that I didn’t really understand what their mechanics were, b) I pulled far too many mobs, or c) I engaged a Champion alone.
The longer I’ve spent out there the less I die (it’s rare these days) because a) I’ve learned what each mob does now and can avoid their big attacks/prepare for them, b) am more aware of my surroundings so I don’t pull too many, and c) stopped engaging HoT Champions alone.
Also I don’t run around Maguuma in full zerker gear like a fool…
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Fractals is probably the most played thing in the game these days. The changes were fantastic!
Dungeons….well dungeons are another story….
They are for all intents and purposes, dead. Outside of the dungeon achievements and the CoF farm, there is no real reason to go in them anymore.
Your time is better spent doing pretty much anything.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
by rough calculations do you actually mean you pulled figures out of the air?
No, I actually did proper calculations, unlike yours, which are uninformed and out of thin air. Please don’t try to make EotN look better than it is, the fact is it’s very little compared to HoT
Let’s talk exploration:
Map Exploration
EotN adds 4 new regions which include 13 towns/outpots, 33 landmarks, 18 dungeon entrances and 11 mission entrances for a total of 75 items to explore/find.
HoT adds the following on maps:
VB: 7 Waypoints, 26 Points of Interest, 11 Hero Challenges, 5 Vistas
AB: 7 Waypoints, 22 Points of Interest, 11 Hero Challenges, 6 Vistas
TD: 7 Waypoints, 20 Points of Interest, 11 Hero Challenges, 6 Vistas
DS: 11 Waypoints, 24 Points of Interest, 7 Hero Challenges, 7 Vistas
Total: 195, just the Points of Interest alone (92) are more than what you can find in the entire EotN.
Also, there are 15 Strongboxes to find, 2 Dive Master achievements, 23 Mastery Insights and 3 Jumping Puzzles (at least I know of 3 there might be more) for a total of 43 more things to do while exploring HoT. There are also other achievements to do but I will keep those for another point of comparison.
So the difference in exploration is staggering… HoT is much better for explorers than EotN, many more things to find and do there, although it has less zones in number. You want to add the 18 dungeons of EotN in the list? Still HoT has way more to explore, that’s objectively proven.
Let’s talk about skills:
EotN added 150 new skills (100 profession skills and 50 pve-only skills)
Before counting skills in GW2, I must say that they work in a different way than skills in GW1. There are no “chain” skills that take different slots, but they are grouped in actual chains, this means chain skills will have to be counted twice (or more), there are also no long lasting buffs, instead we get Traits, so traits can easily count as GW1 “skills”. Because some of you might be weird I give two versions, one counts only unique buttons, the other counts all skills in the game.
Berserker: 18 / 30
Chronomancer: 9 / 23
Daredevil: 11 / 33
Dragonhunter: 14 / 26
Druid: 17 / 36 /
Reaper: 17 / 35
Scrapper: 12 / 38
Tempest: 18 / 30
Revenant: 62 / 155
Ranger pets: 4 / 12 (8 new pet skills, not F2 skills)
Total: 182 / 418
Just the Revenant alone gives more skills than the Entire EotN, but if you want only unique button presses (which is horribly wrong) HoT provides 182 skills compared to 150 EotN skills.
There are also 36 Mastery points which can change your gameplay and provide new skill-like abilities or other benefits.
So in terms of skills and character customization HoT provides loads of more options than EotN that it’s not even funny to compare the two in that regard.Let’s talk about skins:
HoT
There are 3 weights, light/medium/heavy, 3 racial versions, Human/Sylvari/Norn, Asura and Charr for a total of 9 varieties of each armor set.Bladed, Leystone, Guild have all the above requirements for 27 armor sets
Mistward has only heavy version for 3 new armor sets

i am against all this gw1, gw2 comparison, but seriously if you’re gonna do, get it right.
THANK YOU!
This won’t change anything though. There are people that begrudgingly play GW2 because they dislike every other MMO right now and they already have their minds made up that HoT is worse than any other MMO’s expansion ever. Both in terms of content and size. Nothing will convince them differently. If you try, you are a white-knight fanboy that thinks Anet can do no wrong.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
