Interesting perspective. Guilds have always been a social group for me (been playing MMOs since the UO days). I definitely choose to do group runs with guildies over PUGs, that’s for sure, but it’s not as structured as what you were expecting.
We post guild missions, maybe a fractal run here and there, but most of the time if you are gonna run a dungeon, you just try and recruit in guild chat first before going to the LFG.
Sounds like you may want a meta guild. They definitely exist. I’m sure they do structured group runs like you are looking for.

i reported quite few of such trolls, especially those that kick you at the end of the dungeon for their guildmate….. they never got banned…
How do you know they weren’t banned? Do you think Anet needs to perma-ban people for stuff like this? Maybe they got a 1day ban? How do you know someone from Anet didn’t message them a warning.
Fact is, you don’t really know much of anything except that you reported them.

I’m actually not against this. Stacking on top of each other breaks immersion in general, the AoE areas are large enough to fit everyone in the field even without overlapping.
Simple solution to the downsides is to allow pass through in open world, but inside dungeons/fractals/raids, you cannot pass through.
It wouldn’t really stop stacking as you can still kind of stack even if you aren’t passing through each other, but it would certainly stop people from stacking behind a small pillar or little rock.

The low scrap/ticket drop rate from chests is exactly why I don’t buy keys anymore.
We can all agree that’s what most are after with the chests. When you put in 25 keys and barely squeeze out one full ticket, when you need 3 or even 5 tickets per weapon skin, it really makes you never want to spend money on it again.
I honestly think that you should get a guaranteed scrap per key. That would drive sales.

Once apon a time there were no fractals……the the big bad patch came….and it gave us fractals. That’s about it.
You should probably do some investigating, as there are indeed stories surrounding each one.

I have been a long time guild wars 2 player. I played beta when it first came out. Unfortunately I was away when Living world 2 was happening. A few days ago I purchased living world season 2 so that I could be ready for HoT. And because I read you need some of the drops only found in LW2 for mawdrey . I have not even started playing through it because it was my birthday and I have been very busy. The fact that it is now 40% off instead of 20% is like a kick in the face. Can I return this purchase since I haven’t used it? Could I get a gem refund on part of the cost? I am really upset about this.
I never understand these kinds of complaints. How is this any different than if you were to buy something from a store and then go back a few weeks later and see it on sale?
No one forced you to buy the LS2 story at the normal price, obviously you thought it was a fair enough deal to spend the money. Now that you see it’s on sale you suddenly don’t think the original price you paid, of which you had to confirm a couple times through checkout, isn’t fair?
This is how it works everywhere, even in GW2.

I like how key drop rates were increased from, what 0.000000000001%? In the 3 years and 2000+hrs of playing I’ve never gotten a key as a actual drop, only from PS/map completion. I have a feeling I still won’t. We shall see.

Each fractal has a story associated with it. Essentially they are time jumps and/or alternate timelines that are relived through the fractal lab or something.
I’m sure the wiki explains it better than I do.

Why should I have to right click and select block? If I dont reply that should be enough.
There is no good reason why the player shouldn’t decide who to block and when. Are we so lazy now that we want Anet to spend resources automating this function so that it decides for us?

New tier? Legendary tier items have been in the game since launch. They’ve always been top stats and option to swap. They are just finally getting around to adding armor, whereas up until now it has only been weapons.
So I guess the answer is no, it’s not a new tier, it’s the same tier its been since the day the game came out…
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
I’d like a feature where I could turn a current armor setup into an outfit. I don’t care if it costs a ton of money, how great would that be.

I bought this game mainly because I am a guild wars 1 fan, but the soft trinity intrigued me and I thought “it’ll be weird to not have a front, mid and back line but it actually might be an improvement and allow for my versatility in builds. plus it can let people play they way they like to so awesome.” but in the end it all came down to dmg dealing, and the support necro I liked to play? yeah was just a hindrance to the team I was trying to support.
Sorry, explain to me how the current system doesn’t allow for versatility of builds?
Or do you mean, the system allows for quite a versatility of builds, but the player base is only interested in what will complete content in the fastest time, which ultimately means one type of build?
GW2 always allowed for a wide range of builds, and still does. The problem is with the players. I mean, my guard can be a boon-stacking, condition removing fool, or a burning DPS fiend, or a heal/aegis might stacker, etc. All of these have been possible from the start. I play whatever build I feel like playing.
The “zerk meta problem” is overly exaggerated on the forums. I know people like to act like they are forced to do zerk, or that everyone and their cousin will scoff and kick you if you aren’t in zerk, but as an early release player who PUGs regularly, I’ve never experienced any of it. Yet come on the forums and you’d think the game was plagued with elitists, when in reality its a tiny niche group that happen to also be forum warriors.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
I love how people call the GW2 combat system shallow while pretending like the trinity isn’t the absolute most shallow combat system on the planet.
One dude stands against wall, get all mobs to attack them. Another dude spam heals that dude, everyone else spam their DPS skills. I mean, you know the combat system is terrible when, as a healer, I literally never have to even look up from the health bars. I can select my tank, then press one or two buttons every 2-4secs.
Was a raid healer for 4 years using a Trinity system. It’s not fun anymore. Everyone who feels it is the be all end all of combat must not have played enough of it because it is soooo boooorrrrriiinnngg.
The worst part is you’re forced to do it too. At least in GW2 I can choose what I want to play. (before the metasheep chime in here, you can play other builds in this game…) If I want to play a heal build, I can, if I want to be survivable, I can, if I want DPS, I can. Will I kill things slower, sure, but who cares this is a game. You’re not rewarded anything extra for your epic completion times….
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Not a JP, but try and get all of the gold coins in SW.
As a SAB TM vet, some of those gold coins straight up kick my you know what. Harder than any JPs in the game.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
So you want to be able to switch to different types of builds, yet you want them all to kill things as fast as zerker….
To contrast: Been playing since early release. 11 level 80s, only 1 in zerk gear that I don’t even play anymore. I PUG fotm50 regularly and all dungeon paths (on my PVT w/cleric trinkets guard mind you), have yet to be kicked from a group, nor asked to ping my gear. All runs finish smoothly in quick order, no wipes.
Take that how you wish.

^ That’s what would happen. It adds unnecessary negativity in, and worse, it happens after the run is already done, so all you will accomplish is berating some poor noob, even though you guys successfully finished the boss.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Zerker is awsome! Ban or kick all non zerker, because non zerker are really annoying ingame (joining groups all the time) and are the most complaining group on this forum.
To be fair, most zerker players are terrible and spend most of the run downed or dead. It’s the small % of zerkers that actually know what they are doing and can take advantage of the high DPS.
I know you’re just trolling, but thought I’d throw this out there.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Unless of course certain bosses work like fractal instabilities. For example there’s a fractal instability where you take damage every time you crit. A whole zerk team will melt to a boss that does that.
We don’t know what it will be like, but we already know that Anet is cool with mixing things up. Zerk meta is no secret to them, if they want to break it for raids, they know how to do it. If they don’t care, then they don’t care.
Personally I’ll be doing all raids with guildies and we could care less what build you have. We’ll pick whatever build will get us through the boss successfully.

1) GW2 allows for players to play together over Internet, just like WoW, coincidence?
2) GW2 has different classes with different strengths/niches, yet another striking similarity to WoW.
3) Unique rewards require completing unique content, spookier and spookier how similar to WoW.
4) A system that requires you to progress some kind of “bar” to unlock abilities or “skills”, WoW 2.0 amirightNo joke that’s how relevant your points are.
This topic is about what GW2 has now and what it will have in the future.
GW2 has no raids now.
GW2 has no (established) trinity now.
GW2 has no legendary items gated now.
GW2 has no reputation system now.WoW has raids now.
WoW has a trinity now.
WoW has legendary items gated now.
WoW has a reputation system now.GW2 will have raids in the future.
GW2 will have a trinity in the future.
GW2 will have legendary items gated in the future.
GW2 will have a reputation system in the future.Get the picture?
GW2 is not getting a trinity. Each class can play various roles already. The raids will likely require that ahead of time the 10 of you get together, decide things like “ok, on this boss we need some reflects, guards 1 and 2, you will be our reflect guys”, now we are going to need to slow down these <insert mob> to prevent them from getting to <insert objective>, so necro 1 and warrior 1, you guys focus on cripples and chill on those guys. We will be taking tons of AoE damage, I need an ele and and engi focusing on water fields and heals. For this section we definitely need some stealth, thief 1 and mesmer 1, stealth us through this corridor, then thief 2 blind this group once we get out.
You do know that this stuff has already been in the game, right? The only problem is that everyone just thinks hurrdurr DPS hurrdurr. They are simply going to require people actually use the classes to their full potential rather than strict DPS.
I think you imagine it being more like:
“Ok, all eles are healers now, you guys hang in the back and heal. Warrior and guards you are tanks now, you tank those mobs, everyone else DPS.” <<— which would be a trinity and at which point you would be correct. I highly doubt this is what will be going on. I’m certain they will require people to use the versatility of their class depending on the situation and not pigeonhole them into a specific role.
Legendary items are gated? Is the term legendary the only reason you equate it to WoW? Because fractal skins are gated, PvP skins are gated, WvW skins are gated, LS skins are gated, holiday skins are gated, SAB skins were gated, SW skins are gated. Again, this has been seen before. Now that raid skins are gated (which is logical), suddenly it’s WoW 2.0? Have you even been playing this game?
Reputation =/= Mastery. The only similarity is that they have bars that progress. I mean, I guess level 1-80 is WoW 2.0 as well, because in WoW you level up starting from one, increasing incrementally by 1 until level cap…
Blizzard didn’t invent XP bars.
Do you get the picture?

I have this feeling the content wont be as hard as we hope.
Actually it will likely be like past content. It will come out, be brutally difficult, no one succeeds, everyone complains, then a few weeks go by and people figure out the strategy, start succeeding. Then a few months go by and now most people have completed it, and those that figured it out early will start saying how stupid easy the content is and that you must be terrible if you can’t complete it.
Such is the cycle of difficult content. It’s only difficult until you figure out how to beat it regularly. But that’s how pretty much anything difficult works.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Hitting 30s? I dunno if they done something to eotm leveling train, its been 4 month i dont log in, but eotm run to 80 takes 9-16h, dunno if the f2players have access to it as well
Either you are exaggerating or have been really lucky with EoTM maps.
Fastest I’ve been able to hit 80, using strictly EoTM, with a level 20 scroll (so only 60 levels needed) is around 20hrs, and I was pretty kitten efficient. How were you able to do it in 9hrs, that literally sounds impossible.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
So what’s the goal? To simply hit 80 or do you have to clear all dungeon paths or all JPs or something?
This sounds like a lot of fun. The no dodging thing is kind of weird. Gonna have to simply remove the key binding, it’s habit at this point.

PvP armor and titles locked behind PvP, fractal skins locked behind fractals, WvW weapons/titles locked behind WvW (tournaments no less), Living Story armor, titles, weapons locked behind PvE, raid armor, weapons and titles locked behind Raids? HOLD THE PHONE WHAT! GW2 is now WoW!
Raid lock out timers as in how guild missions currently work? You can do guild missions as much as you want, but you and your guild only get credit once a week. You can get rewards once a week, but can run the raid to your heart’s content. Seems about on par with how they’ve done current content.
Did you think you were pointing out some paradigm shift in GW2? Because you really only pointed out that Raids exist and will be in line with how they currently handle all of their other content….

so, my small guild ~5 is trying to figure out what we can do in HoT together. They mentioned fractals will be revamped. so maybe that.
i kno we can’t do guild hall, thats for ~15+ guilds
can’t do raids, thats 10 members
most are carebears, so pvp and wvw is out.
is all we have to look for is adventures (dynamic events?) and 1 time story events?
You can invite non-guild members to everything you listed.
Now if you are asking, what content can I do with my group of 4 friends and not including any other human being ever. Then pretty much just fractals.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Raiding shouldn’t be “expansion content” only… Raiding should be an addition to the entirety of the game… As I said I HAVE HoT. I just don’t think it’s fair to the portion of the player base that aren’t getting HoT, not to have a raid or two eventually put into core…
It’s not fair? How is it not fair? That’s like saying “gee, I don’t think it’s fair that people who don’t have the expansion can’t go into the new zone and do all of the expansion content.”
They are a business. They just went F2P so now they have no box sales coming in. So how do they drive people to buy the expansion? Putting something valuable behind it. That’s not unfair, that’s basic business.
Worst case scenario, a portion of free to play players quit and/or don’t buy the expansion. Oh heaven forbid people that haven’t spent any money quit a game they got for free because they can’t play content that was released with the expansion.

why…. do… you have… the same… classes….. multiple… times ugh. How is that fun? 3 necromancers for no reason? they could all be 1. My brain hurts just trying to understand the logic behind this
Making characters is fun for most people. It’s why people spend so much time in character creation. Once you hit a level 80 of each profession and you get the urge to make a new character, you know cause that’s fun, well you have to duplicate.
I have multiple Guardians. One is a Sylvari Guardian that I use for PvE (dungeons, fractals). My other Guardian is human and only hangs out in PvP and WvW. If I wanna do some PvP or WvW on a Guardian, I just switch characters.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
I know it’s gone F2P and all, but they need to pay for the expansion at least if they want to access content in the new expansion. That’s more than fair.
They can play a game that we’ve all been playing for 3 years and paid money for mind you, for free. You think they should also be able to play the expansions for free as well? That’s absurd.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
How do you envision it working? At first I thought simply having a place with guilds listed that are recruiting would suffice, but how do you prioritize what’s on top of list? Alphabetical (not fair), most recent posting (not ideal as now you have to keep posting over and over to stay on top), member numbers (disadvantages smaller guilds)?
I know I’d want my guild to come up as one of the first options as I’m sure every other guild would. So how would that be fairly determined. And even then, there’s no guarantee people will even use it. I feel people will still spam chat channels for the extra visibility.
I dunno, it’s good in theory but I don’t think there would be a good way to accomplish it.
Luckily we don’t make spam messages. If we come across someone that is unguilded and seems like a cool person, we will strike up conversation about their guild status and if they would be interested in joining. If they are, then we begin the interview process. (can’t let just anyone into the guild, you know)

1. How much has changed? I know Lion’s Arch got finished or something like that.
2. Has much changed in the way of the “meta”? All zerk with warriors, ele’s, thief/guardian is what it was when I left.
3. Has the state of the Necro’s changed much? I guess any class for that matter.1. They cleaned up trait system a bit from all the junk traits. Crippled personal story with “1 chapter every 10 levels” thing. Arah story is not part of personal story and can be soloed. Stacking cap on some conditions was increased from 25 to 1000+.
Are you sure it’s not part of personal story still? I thought it was, the only change being it is a solo instance now.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
For beginners I recommend Guardian and Warrior. Both have good DPS and are survivable.
Don’t focus so heavily on getting to 80 as fast as possible. Take it slow, explore each zone, just have some fun. The down-scaling is great in this game, so don’t feel forced to leave a 1-15 zone just because you are level 22. Play each zone until you guys are bored with it or want to see something new then move on. It’s impossible not to level in this game from doing pretty much anything.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Guys, I’ve been gone for about 6 months(ish) from the game. When I left I told myself that I wouldn’t get back in because I was done with this game. Now a family member has gotten the game and is really getting into it. Now here’s the question to you guys: Do I get back in? Is it worth it? Some follow up stuff for you to answer:
1. How much has changed? I know Lion’s Arch got finished or something like that.
2. Has much changed in the way of the “meta”? All zerk with warriors, ele’s, thief/guardian is what it was when I left.
3. Has the state of the Necro’s changed much? I guess any class for that matter. That’s all I can think of. Thanks for everyone’s help with this
As most games go, meta is meta. The term itself implies it is the best, hence there can really only be one meta. Whether it changes from one thing to another, whatever the new thing is will be the new meta and all the meta-heads will want to be that.
I don’t play meta (although I do have a meta character, you know just cause, but I never play him) and I’ve done every dungeon path, fotm50, and all world bosses without issue.
Getting a group together in LFG is faster and easier if you aren’t meta believe it or not. There are far more people looking to run dungeons/fractals without dealing with zerk meta elitists than there are zerk meta elitists.
I post a LFG for all welcome, no meta required, and I have a full group within 60 seconds. Contrast that with the LFG zerk only ping gear 10k AP speed clear that is still at 3/5 people when I finish my run.
The game does and always has allowed players to complete all of the content easily in any set up. Some people want to do things in the fastest possible time. Those people go meta. If you are one of those people, then you understand meta and understand that going meta requires a certain playstyle. If you quit because of that playstyle, then meta or min/maxing isn’t for you and just simply avoid it.
State of necros has changed quite a bit. The elitists won’t want you on their team, but if you are avoiding them anyway then what does it matter. I run my necro through paths regularly and haven’t had anyone complain. I almost always start my own LFG, though, so I can find like minded people (which are the vast majority of players).

@Crossaber Incorrect Backpieces are Accessories not Armor, nice try though.
Nope, if you die enough times you see that both your armor and back item gets damaged/broken. Yet accessoires always stay intact. So they are not Accessoires, and they are definitely not weapons either. So it’s armor. Heck they are even sold by Guild Armorers.
Besides why would you think weaponsmith can craft a back item? Do your homework next time.
Well, to be fair, every crafting profession can craft a backpice, from a level one fine to a level 78 exotic. Though this doesn’t excuse the OP from checking out the requirements first, then blaming ANet because he didn’t do his homework.
The only backpieces each can craft are ones to show off what level you are of that craft. It’s never been for actual backpieces (yes they are real backpieces, but they are gimmicky profession specific backpieces, you know?).
Tailor, LW, and Armorsmith all make armor. Hence they can make the backpiece.
But seriously OP, take the hour to level up another craft. Those bloodstone bricks aren’t going anywhere.

I am one of these people. In many encounters I cannot see the thin red circles that specify incoming AoE, especially when its covered by a bunch of combo fields.
They added the super obvious ones which was a godsend, but then left it at that for some reason. It makes things unnecessarily difficult.
While they’re at it, can they please figure out how to not lose your mouse cursor when there’s a bunch of action going on. So annoying.

I just don’t understand where/when/how everyone in this thread seems to be finding all these bad players/groups…
It’s well known that if something has happened once, it happens “all the time”.
People always exaggerate to make a point.
I’m in your same boat, I’ve done hundreds of runs with PUGs from LFG and the worst I’ve had is one guy leaving the group after a couple of wipes when I reminded him this was a relaxed run and to chill out. Other than that, smooth sailing. Yet people on the forums seem to run into this regularly. Very unlikely.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Mr Glass. I’ve been there. A lot. My guild and I used to post LFGs looking for 1-2 more people and we’d always say that we want a complete, non exploitative run and that we’re not zerker meta players.
9/10 times we get the zerkers join our party, demand that we skip, threaten to report us and try to kick people from the group we started.
Yeah… This is pretty much what the “meta mentality” is.
This is why I always include “relaxed run” in my listings in addition to " L80 experienced meta not required".
To most people “relaxed run” implies we aren’t rushing, if we wipe it’s no big deal, we can skip we can not skip, we can decide as we get to it, just go with the flow you know.
If someone starts complaining or is clearly being a jerk, then I’d say they aren’t relaxed. They aren’t relaxed at all. Usually a “chill dude, this is a relaxed run, we’re all here to have some fun” puts an end to it. They either leave the party then or get with the program. Of all my runs I’ve only had 1 person who wasn’t chill. He left the party. Most people, I find, just want to play the dungeon with competent people, while also not having to deal with militant types that are in a constant state of rushing because omg my gold/hr is being affected!
“L80 all welcome, new players encouraged” is also a good one, depending on if I have some new guildies with me and I need some more people and I want to grab some players that might be apprehensive about PUGs because of what they read in the forums.

Nah, this is Gw2, not WoW, unless you wanna pay for legendaries for that 1% extra stats, then go ahead.
But legendaries don’t have 1% additional stats. They have same stats as Ascended!

You know, when left 4 Dead had this same problem, they responded in l4d2 by creating the charger and spitter. Those mobs are effective at splitting a camp without being annoyingly OP. The charger just nabs a guy and CCs him in a way that often requires other members to leave the stack and the spitter drops an aoe that’s easy to avoid without taking much damage, but suicide to camp in.
Neither of these prevent stacking (which is still important in that game, and a valid strategy) but they prevent camping in one place for extended periods
Maybe we need some charge/spitter style mobs here and there or something. You know, like the chargers and spitters in the new mordrem army.
Think I’m gonna reinstall L4D2. Your post made me want to play it again lol.

Crafting should be optional, just like PvE is optional, and Spvp is optional and WvW is optional.
I play this game for WvW, and we don’t have the option for a viable means of attaining legendaries from WvW. The cost could even be something insane, like 10,00 badges of honor, 2000 of each of those 450 crafting mats. I don’t care. just as long as i don’t have to grind out crafting. Just let me EARN the legendary by playing the game in COMBAT, not by standing by a sewing kit and crafting all day.
Your options are equally as viable as any other player. You get money and T6 mats in WvW. What difference do you believe there is? It’s a gold requirement for the most part, which isn’t limited to PvE.

Sylvari Guardian main. Was my first character. Is my favorite class (currently, we shall see with HoT).
I have two secondaries that I play regularly: Human ranger, Charr necro.
The other 8 characters are alts. Although my second Guardian is like my PvP Guardian, so he’s I guess a kind of secondary.
