They probably are not able to at this time. Removing something like a character slot is very serious.

Has anyone noticed that the problem seems to be moreso that enemies can waypoint into contested keeps instead of banner/signet etc ressing lords?
If people couldn’t get back to the keep in 3 minute cycles then it would be much easier to prevent a banner res.
I mentioned this problem a while back in a Q and A thread, dev said he would look into it then all the people whined saying that they didn’t want it removed so the dev recanted. So the devs arnt going to fix it because we players didn’t want it fixed.
Apathy Inc [Ai]
When you try to defend things and get run over by yaks and db zergs 3-5x your size you tend to say kitten defending.
Apathy Inc [Ai]
Yes to +points on stomp (this idea is pretty neat)
Yes IF stat buffs are defensive only (you only get +stats when you are on a friendly objective)
No if stat buffs are universal.
Currently as they are: No.
Apathy Inc [Ai]
Kaineng is the highest rated safest server, we have very little danger of moving up into the top league, unless we get a lot of transfers. (please don’t transfer with the reason being that we might be on the top end of silver league we don’t want silverchasers)
Apathy Inc [Ai]
I did a little thinking on it.
What if the +stat buff only applied while defending objectives.
The +points on stomp applies everywhere but the +stat buff is only a defensive bonus.
Any thoughts?

Using guild banner tonic on top of water causes your player to be stuck and unable to break transform or move, and must waypoint to leave (or somehow take damage)
Repro steps,
1) go to any body of swimmable water
2) Surface
3) Use guild banner or endless guild banner tonic – observe result.

snip Solution has turned into literally 90% of our players blob in one map, cap a keep or two and move on.
While I understand the situation and have joined on a couple trains myself, I really hope we don’t see too much of this trend/meta continue in future matchups.
be the karma train….
I am apologizing on behalf of kaineng, today we had a Mesmer attempting to port our zergs into objectives in EB, this person was caught in the act, recorded, and reported directly to ArenaNet support.
Kaineng does not tolerate hacking, we do spend extra effort to purge individuals who do this from our ranks.
Classy. But please refrain from server assassination. It is against TOS. Just report it directly to support and they will…haha..hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
I’m on kaineng. The server leadership was notified someone on our server was hacking and we took some direct action. I am simply informing you guys that action was taken and we found out who it was and reported the player directly to support with video evidence of the exploit.

Hey Kaineng we took your bay! also what happened with those 10 guys you had inside? They lost to all 4 of us
Thanks for dashing the hopes and dreams of our newbies!

My guild does not participate in GvG, but I do not like the potential snowball problem the additional stats give.
Extra points for stomp? Good
Extra stats? Bad
Switch the stats out for Exp, Karma, Wxp, and gold find.

I think SBI will probably pass yaks bend in the rankings before October, but what do I know?
Apathy Inc [Ai]
Kaineng is in League 2 though. so this isn’t like the new leagues system. Its actually worse than that.
Also yaks doesn’t want their BL apparently.

There always will be a meta.
There are always utilities and traits that do not go well with each other no matter what the developers do. (would you take increased longbow range trait when you do not wield a longbow?)
There will always be better builds, and inferior builds.
There are tools available to defend against bunker zergs. Ive managed to do it multiple times this week.
Omega zergs are much harder as their shields can block some of their main counters. 10 can hold against 30, givin they have enough supply. And even a bunker zerg cant sit under 2+ superior arrow carts and live for very long.

keep in mind most of the reply’s in the Living world forum are Josh, after the release of his content.

It didn’t go to waste, though I think you learned a lesson in pacing.
Don’t worry, for every hour you put into this we are probably going to play it, and then some.

This needs to be fixed, at this rate it will take me more than a month maybe two to get enough dragonite ore for ONE refine.

My problems all stem from attempting it solo. Fighting assassins solo is a grinding experience. When I’m grouped up with guildies we can often kill them quickly, but when your fighting 2-3 of them alone its really hard to avoid taking damage.
It ends up being frustrating and tedious. With a group its much easier to deal with the assassin mobs.
Apathy Inc [Ai]
Golems are the reason we upgrade cannons first on keeps on kain as cannons are a weapon that can slow down a golem rush (forces attacking forces to kill cannons, as golems can ignore arrow carts which makes the keep cap slower so you can get your response team in place).
What you can do about them? Scout. Have cannons for your scouts to use.
Evolve or die.

250k kills, but how many deaths. It’s all about that K2D SON, SON!!!!!!!!!!
You mean tags to death AMIRITE?

The whole reason us [One] guys have been pushing PPT is to fight better guilds/fights without having to transfer. Being in the lower tiers you don’t get to have fun fights anymore.
I know we deeply miss T3/T4, and wvw has been quite dull the last few nights definitely with kaineng in the tier. If BP or another server was in this tier it would actually be quite fun. The worst part about it all, Kaineng gained more points this week T________T. WvW no fun when one server is nonexistent.
Were gaining points because were dead right?
Apathy Inc [Ai]
Karka Queen – easy zerg fest even IF you have to claim the towns – not to mention VERY rewarding. 30 Ore
SM take – depending on defense can be VERY difficult as well as time consuming. 9 Ore.
That’s just wrong.
When camps are giving 2-3 Crystals per take, yet JP’s are giving 7-9 – well – I can hit the 12 easiest JP’s in under 2 hours now – around 50 crystals per hour. No way one can take 15-25 camps per hour.
Rewards for WvW are definitely sub-par.
**edited for my fumbly fingers…9 not 12 per JP)
Camps give 2-9 crystals per take, and overall are more rewarding than doing jumping puzzles – because they give wxp and loot for the 5 vets you kill, plus any dolyaks.
Keeps however are subpar to the pve events that spam mobs on you so you get tons of loot and 30 ore for succeeding. The amount of ore you get should scale with how upgraded the keep is. 15 ore for a basic capture and up to 75 ore for a fully upgraded keep.
Apathy Inc [Ai]
I have noticed no difference in badge rates…

1 action = 250 clicks is a breach of the user agreement. Though it is unlikely to get you banned.
rebinding scrolling your mousewheel down to a single left click is not a violation of the UA.
Apathy Inc [Ai]
Ah so you want to get 30 ppl in a squad then sit back and have them do all the killing for you while you afk? Nope that wont work.
obviously i have to hit something, the point is, sometimes theres way to many people at one point and the champion goes down so quick i cant get that % in to get loot, hence why its good in the first place to be in a party, you have a better % change of getting it, 30 people would be better, im not looking to sit around and let everyone kill stuff, i know I wouldnt get anything… but for the times when mobs health drops too fast, its good to have
Not true.
You are suffering from a dose of confirmation bias.
Being in a party and not being in a party does not change how much loot you get or the threshold for ‘tagging’.
Apathy Inc [Ai]
You guys are cute.
Don’t worry I killed them plenty of times for you ^.^
The extra +34 wxp for each siege they dropped in the camps was a nice bonus.
Apathy Inc [Ai]
I do hope they do once a season, it would be fair and prevent people from resetting wvw points so they can max out treb mastery before they go use a treb for example.
You should not be able to change your ability points in an as needed basis, but being allowed to change them once every 2-3 months seems like a good idea and let people ‘fix’ mistakes that don’t fit their playstyles.
Apathy Inc [Ai]
Most people simply doesn’t know or don’t care about the rating system. I doubt people would encourage server-mates that “Hey! We’re gaining ratings this week, keep it up!” while losing in scores.
So, how about adjust the starting scores of the match-up according to relative ratings. For example, if A server is 1500 rating, B is 1200 and C 900, maybe let server C starts at 50k points, server B at 20k with server A start at 0 (requires precise calculations, I know).
In this way the lower-rated server would actually know what they are fighting for (which is holding the point lead until the end of the week) and this gives them a actually feel of the relative server ratings with the opponents and how big the uphill is such server fighting.
I discussed this at length in a previous thread (I think the matchup thread)
but anyway, flat increases in score aren’t a good handicapping system when the total score of all 3 servers varies by the end of the week.
A better handicapping system is to increase or reduce score gained by a % based on the relative rating.
Also my suggestion here is in addition to whoever is ‘top server’ rewards. I think the more rewards goals we can throw out that encourage servers to get better the more ideal.
Right now I don’t think the last place server really has a hope of beating the 13th placed server in NA, but the last place server certainly can try to gain the most rating. While the 13th through 18th servers probably wont be able to gain enough rating to gain ‘most improved’ they at least have a good shot at winning their league.
This reward in addition to the winning reward means that everyone has a goal to shoot for which I think is better than just having a winning reward.
Apathy Inc [Ai]
Please? The server that gains the most rating in a league should be rewarded, a much more attainable goal.
If you are the bottom rated server in a league, taking first is a huge uphill battle. Most improved gets around this problem entirely.
Apathy Inc [Ai]
GF you are a class act (I really mean that, not even kidding).
We found you guys messing around outside hills later that evening when you were just romping about. I romped through you as a pack animal and later we chillaxed with one of your members by hills.
Apathy Inc [Ai]
Way back in beta early release around a year ago these sigils contained text stating if you unequipped the weapon you would lose your stacks.
Swap weapon and you keep your stacks, unequip it and you lose it.
Apathy Inc [Ai]
its players→NPC and near→far.
The reason it is this way probably has more to do with being efficient. Instead of having to search the entire radius for your party members first, it just finds the 5 closest players and cuts the search.
Apathy Inc [Ai]
yeah condi builds win by attrition, so you don’t want to prolong the fight, you win early or you get away.
Apathy Inc [Ai]
I was one who purchased Genesis about a week ago for a buy order of 180g. I reasoned that I think it would go back up since everyone was busy doing invasions. Boy was I wrong.
Either there are servers out there that continue to farm Orr, demand is stagnating, or suppliers are dumping their stock on mass. I think it’s the latter two.
I gave in and sold it for 90g or so. So that’s a loss of 90G. Not happy about it, but then again you win some and lose some.
You made a pretty basic mistake. New items almost always follow the same price curve.
On release they are almost always priced way higher than the price they will stabilize at, the price slowly or quickly slides down to that price.
There is also a standard curve for items that no longer are supplied (event items etc).
Apathy Inc [Ai]
one is level 70 armor the other is level 80.

Just an update:
2. Once per update tick, let’s say 10 times per second, send the 3D coordinates, direction, animation frame, actions to all players in range (culling included) and between those frames use interpolation and prediction techniques e.g. assume that each allied and enemy player continues to move to the direction it is moving at the same speed and continuing its action. E.g. if player is viewing the game 60 fps, every 6th frame has real information and 5/6 are predicted, interpolated frames. The prediction might sometimes show erroneous results, leading to short range teleporting players etc. but this would greatly reduce the network traffic and create impression of having much less latency (lag)
That is an O(n^2) function. But the packing function sending the data isn’t all that laggy, the lagstorms happen in big battles where the server is doing damage calculations/skill broadcasts at an incredible rate. I do think GW2 servers broadcast actions as players send them so we can see the abilities in time to dodge them. And as you said the problem with interpolation systems is it can make non-laggy situations seem laggy with players abusing interpolation to warp around (see planetside, tribes series).
Anyway I don’t think netcode is the problem here because even with 300+ people running around in the same area, I don’t get the chugging skill lag of zergfights.
Apathy Inc [Ai]
Anet doesn’t want you to be able to swap out wxp points for other things on an as needed bases.
For example, for you to switch out your defense against guards for AC, cannon, and trebuchet masteries when your stuck in a keep defending it. Then swap back later. They want the choices you make to have some level of permanence.
I would be in favor of some sort of quarterly reset option, which might work with anets ideas for the system, but the reason you cant reset any time you want is so you cant get the mastery for whatever your using at the time.
Apathy Inc [Ai]
Man Ebay hates defending. They would rather chase 5 people around hills with 15 people than defend that hills.
Maybe if we ask nicely they can switch out with the Bay defense guys on their own BL. You need a prybar and a tub of grease to get them out of there in NA prime.
yeah I poked them a few times today to see if they were awake.
Apathy Inc [Ai]
Man Ebay hates defending. They would rather chase 5 people around hills with 15 people than defend that hills.
Defending hills doesn’t give me the same satisfaction that offending you enough to make you post on the forums does.
Or maybe you are just upset we had you in a 2v5 the other day?
Not offended at all that you did thakittens pretty much what both SoS and Ebay seem to like to do, chase small parties with large groups and don’t give up till they port or get caught.
I’m just laughing about it.
And who are you? I don’t remember your guild being apart of the group chasing us.
Apathy Inc [Ai]
^you realize the NA servers are in America and the EU servers are in Europe right? You not having skill lag means the netcode is pretty top notch.
the problems being discussed here have nearly nothing to do with the netcode, but the cpu overhead of calculating a massive zerg v zerg v zerg battle.

There is pretty much no way around the O(n^(n-1))
How exactly do you end up with O(n^(n-1)) for the algorithm you give? Comments in algorithm by me:
For each player // executed O(n) times otherplayer = player->get_visableplayers() // kind of O(n) For each otherplayer // executed O(n) times in each iteration otherplayer->sendupdate(player) // kind of constant w.r.t. n endfor endfor
Even when doing this for all n players in sequence, this looks more like O(n^3) at worst to me.
nor is O(n^n) considered to be exponential time.
Well, this depends on your precise definition of exponential time. You are correct that n^n is not O(exp(n)), but it is O(exp(poly(n))). And the class EXPTIME is actually defined as the latter one.
~MRA
Yeah your right, excuse me for lateposting. What I posted is n^2. I suspect anet has to deal with a lot of n^2, n^3 for damage, updates and the like. The more people in an area the worse it gets, and the faster we spam our abilities the worse it gets.
I am curious how often they are running the health update on damage, especially considering they want to display every bleed tick.
Apathy Inc [Ai]
go to arenanets support website and create a violation report. You can then ask for the support representative to forward it to NCsoft’s legal team.
Apathy Inc [Ai]
Basically
For each player
otherplayer = player->get_visableplayers()
For each otherplayer
otherplayer->sendupdate(player)
endfor
endfor
Also remember for every action you as a player take, all opponents in visible range need to be updated with the action you took, and your current location. If you cast a spell at a location, everyone else needs to know you cast that spell at a location.
There is pretty much no way around the O(n^2) problem here besides putting a limit on the n-1 via culling.
