Increased rewards we can PROFIT from. Increase loot as we progress in a dungeon, and make longer dungeons like CoE more profitable.
Reduce some BS in some dungeons which force us to “cheat” by abusing terrain. Such as Arah P3 where we jump on the urchins to kill the Ranger/Warrior duo. It’s annoying to fight the Ranger while dodging a Warrior who can OHKO the team. There’s also the hoops we have to go through standing on a cliff in SE path 1 to avoid mobs when trying to kill the Golem.
If you want to look for good dungeon design, see Fractals of the Mists. The foes have great loot and they’re all able to be completed in 15 minutes with a competent team. The mobs are not too powerful either, and can be soloed. They do not 2KO either like mobs in AC can do to a level 35.
Oh you must mean even more rewards than the 3 gold I made running cof and AC this morning. Yeah 3 gold for having fun seems a little low NOT.

I’d love to be able to get Lodestones with the tokens from that dungeon. Ex: CoE tokens can be used to get a Charged Lodestone.
I think with the right token price it could work well. It would encourage more people to do dungeons also. Right now I never get a group for a dungeon that is solely from people within my own home world server.
Also, it would drop some of the prices for them on the TP, especially the ridiculous Charged Lodestone and give people a way to obtain them rather then simply buying them or hoping for the RNG to favor them that day. It would make the progression of actually getting all the lodestones you need actually feel like your progressing towards your goal as you would KNOW that you will get another lodestone by getting enough tokens rather than hoping for it to drop randomly.
I get these loadstones sometimes and give them to guild members because I don’t want a legendary. I like the system as it is.
This feature should have been included at launch but wasn’t. I’m sure they will add it soon because people are leaving the game because they can’t find groups.
So I was on another forum.. and there people where talking about drops and the grind they had to for it. You have people who want to get a dungeon set, like we have it now with tokens. Well very grindy.
I am someone who thinks it is alright right now. Some things are a grind. But I don’t mind it cause I have the ‘I-will-see-when-it-happens-disease" (kudo’s for the people who get the reference)
Anyways, this topic is about: How can you make Dungeons more attractive?
We know there is coming an overhaul. But how can we make it so that people will feel that dungeons are less a grind? Make a chance to let gear drop at bosses? Or special gear drop at bosses and ask the RNG to do it for us?
Or maybe quests inside dungeons to get certain things to craft pieces of armor or weapons who have an unique look?
What do you guys think?
This game has to have grind because grind translates to players EARNING something over time. If you want instant gratification in a game try plants vrs zombies or that bird game….
I just ran this on my ele today in rare mf gear with a glass cannon build and did all three paths in a pug and died once. There was no change in the dungeon it’s still incredibly fun.
Range is your friend in dungeons unless you have toughness and vitality and know how to dodge.
It has no need to be changed, its one of the best new dynamics added to combat I have seen in the many games i have played. Don’t let the door hit you in the kitten
The truth is, it’s a great mechanic for bad players. I am sorry but that’s the truth of the matter.
The actual truth is that good players adapt and learn how to excel. Bad players complain and point the blame away from themselves.
Great players know what is adaptable and what is broken. The downed state is so broken it’s not even funny, it’s not even balanced.

I felt the same way when I ran my first dungeon in this game. Once you have the right gear and master your class it’s not that bad. I think you should start with A.C. ex mode path 2.

I’ve read about the fan control apps so I will check them out. Is it bad to use though because if the fan is needed to cool I don’t want to turn it down.
I have a cooling pad under my macbookpoo but the fan still makes insane noise.
I have this game on my bootcamp partition so maybe I should just play it there? Would that help with the direct x issue?
It would be awesome if we had profession exclusive gear like mirror plated gear for a Mesmer and gear with nuts and metal pieces for and engineer. This game has great looking gear so the more the better imo.
Life is about making choices. You have to choose to cheat and I have dropped a pug on more than one occasion because they wanted to take ridiculous shortcuts.
Could you please describe what happened when it failed? Could you describe the moments leading up to it in detail please so I can try to diagnose what happened?
I’ve played many MMO’s and you are by far the best dungeon dev yet. Bugs happen but you guys have done a wonderful job with the dungeons.
When I first started doing them I didn’t enjoy them but that was because I wasn’t playing the game as intended.
This must be recent because I was running AC a lot and Deltha Burke (that’s what I call her) stopped bugging about a month ago and I haven’t had a problem since.
I made the mistake of telling everyone on my server in Lion’s Arch to come kill the claw of Jormag and the game lagged so bad it was like watching the video for chariots of fire.
Please fix the engine so we can have a lot of people enjoy this event.
My MacBook pro really, really hates GW2 and I’m on my second fan repair and I can’t figure out why this game puts so much stress on a 2500 dollar laptop.
I’m thinking it’s a thermal paste issue and not the game but has anyone else that owns a piece of kitten MacBook having this problem?
I know laptops aren’t made for gaming but I never had any issues playing Tortanic except that that games engine is a piece of kitten.
Many people never seen one drop. With 1100 hours played ive seen one – which was from the lost shore event chest. Question is how many 80 exotics you have seen anyway Drew?
There are screenshots that ive seen from: Mystic forge – random mob in orr – event chest in orr – boss chest in a dungeon – jumping puzzle chest in WvW. So i’m quiet confident when i say if it can drop an exotic..it can drop a precursor.
I’ve never had an exotic drop for me even when wearing all mf gear and using food. As far as I’m concerned precursors only come from the mystic toilet ( I call it that because you put good things in and usually get crap out) but I swear this guy in Orr said one dropped from a mob for him but who knows.
My gaurdian is all damage build because most people who pug dungeons either have bad gear, a bad build, don’t know how to dodge, don’t listen to people who know the dungeon and do low dps so I just go for the fastest damage I can put out and pray it’s enough lol.
I feel like people forget that the game has been out for less than 5 months.
This happens with every mmo. Everyone is not only a person playing the game but they also have all the answers as to how it should have been developed.
Many mmo players approach games as thought they should be released as if they had been an 8 year old title.
Anet already said they’re working on a solution for the Fractal leveling system. From what I heard it’s going to involve tiers of some sort but that could all be subject to change weeks down the development line. Going as far as to label it a ‘complete failure’ however is rather uncalled for, however. I’d imagine it’s coming in the December patch or prioritized for next year, but I’m not an insider.
As it stands this isn’t a problem that can wait much longer. The entire Lost Shore’s patch was below par even by F2P standards. The new zone is a complete waste of space since no one goes there. The class changes turned out to be more nerfs for everything but Warrior as usual. Only FotM is really enjoyable, but that’s quickly killed by the broken leveling system.
Arenanet really set a bad precedent for future content quality in November, and waiting until January or later to fix the only good thing from that godawful patch isn’t going to make potential players look favorably upon an already floundering game.

Fractals is not a fail.
If people aren’t willing to do lower level fractals with you thats because they are selfish. I’ve done plenty runs I don’t need to to help out guildies on lower levels or just because no one on my current level is available for a group, so I join a low level group. Call me crazy but I’ve also noticed drop rates suck kitten at higher levels, level 1-5 was the best drops I’ve ever got(forget about pink kitten).
In most cases failure in this game is by bad players that don’t listen and learn.

Tortanic is the game I left to play this and there is no comparison between the two games in quality of content as well as the devs that run GW2.
Tortanic was built with a broken engine that still doesn’t work as intended and you have maintenance days you do not have in this game and you also pay a sub.
Use World of Restarts or a game from a company that doesn’t knowingly use a broken engine when comparing game quality to this one if you want to be taken seriously.
Yes this game needs a dungeon finder and this should have been a feature at release.
I agree all the FOTM bosses are not melee fights. I melee the ele gnarl boss on my gaurdian and dodge his attacks and I usually do the most dps as well as remove conditions and heal the group at the same time.
Don’t jump while the one you are fighting is shooting or it will slow you and make you fall. Just range dps them and hop the platforms as you kill each one.
I won’t be using this site. There should be a LFG chat channel and or a dungeon finder already in the game. Pretty sad that you would sticky a third party site so people can try to find others to enjoy the content with.
Seems to be some mistakes being made with this game recently and I hope the community concerns are taken more seriously in the future.
I love the dungeons in this game but the FOTM dungeons are almost impossible to get a group to run with that are all on the same level and then you have to worry about someone getting dc’d and losing all your progress.
I hear people complaining and qq’ing about the new “tiers” of gear and it’s really silly. Anet has to do this to make crafting more viable and add more reasons to keep people running the dungeons because they will just farm them like mmo players always do in a week.
Adding the new gear gives people who have leveled a crafting profession another way to make that craft viable.
Are the stat differences really that big of a deal considering some people are running fractals without the new gear?
I have played many MMO’s and this isby far the best one so I want to see it improve.
My only complaints are no dungeon finder, no way to keep mini’s out for extended periods without going away when you click add to collections and people who dc during a fractal should be able to renter where they were when they dc’d.
I think most of the legendaries are ugly so I have no interest in them. A bow that pukes rainbows says it all.
The greats words are the only weapons I could see being worth a grind. The dungeon gear is awesome so I’ll stick with it :-)
Server hardware difficulties, Networking difficulties and shaky execution of this entire event was pretty disheartening. The content was there, but half of it was busted.
Between bugged events and NPCs and your big `super chest` that was placed, which half the attendees got screwed out of… you really might consider just placating your players on this one.
Consider something like this:
—> If you were logged into your account, any character, for 1 hour or more during any phase of the Lost Shores event, all characters will be rewarded with the exclusive rewards available during that time.
—> Additionally and limitedly, any characters who were L75+ as of (date/time of ancient karka fight) will receive the reward items given by the chest at the end of that fight. (All items soulbound and unable to be salvaged, as this is to make the items available to people, not to give people money)
Just blanket reward everybody, acknowledge the issues and state that you’ll do better next time and lets put this crap behind us.
I hated the event. The only thing that was buggier than the event was the karkas. I don’t want any of the loot from the events. I would have been happy if the mobs dropped something besides green globs if I was lucky enough to get that from them. I’ll stick to the cursed shore since I know at least I’ll get trash bones from kills.
I love this game but I feel like the content should be something we can enjoy and this is the first mmo where I kill things and nothing drops. It just seems pointless.
I love the gem shop and use it, I love the dungeons, I love the professions even when they are nerfed, I love wvwvw but I don’t like DR and bugged mobs.
I went into this event thinking it was going to be great but it ended up being pointless other than the jumping puzzles and the new INCREDIBLE dungeons.
I don’t mind killing a hard to kill new mob but when it drops nothing or green globs or a shell trophy I think I’ll pass.
I killed 3 Karkas in a row and nothing dropped not even a useless piece of trash.
The zone is very pretty but this event was really bad IMO.
My guildies decided to skip it as well.
I’d rather pay a sub then play a game with DR from hell and no drops.
Looks like unless things change I’ll be playing something else in the future.
I have one 80. My ely. Maybe ~200 hours in. It is the only class I played in GW2. I have not even tried the others. The present is not so great for us. The future is not looking great either. So if you had to try another class, which would you choose?
I have a level 80 ele and gaurdian and I just started a Mesmer and love it. Try the Mesmer with a great sword.
The mention of Magic Find for the sub bosses, is to say that we have given them unique loot drops, and that Magic Find is a factor in what you get from them. That is no different in the past as it has been in the future. The more Magic Find you have, the better chances of obtaining a rarer item.
Wow, this is a horrible, horrible change, and completely goes against what I thought that was ArenaNet’s vision of cooperating with other players and fair rewards.
By implementing this in dungeons, you are actively punishing people who are properly equipped with survivability gear (Toughness, Vitality, proper Runes) in dungeons, and promoting lesser-equipped “leechers” to stack MF and give them even better rewards then they already where given.
Changes like this certainly ruin my willingness to run Dungeons. I knew ArenaNet didn’t really like dungeons to be pugged (the ‘LFG’ tool is plain embarrassing), but as someone who mostly relies on PUG’s to do dungeons, this feels like a kick to the teeth.
If they are dying in the dungeon it probably has to do with them being a player that doesn’t know the dungeon.
They aren’t going to give players everything so I guess people who don’t like the changes can always choose not to run the dungeons.
I ran AC last night and we killed kholer and had a blast. The new loot system is awesome and everyone got good stuff. Nothing was skipped.
2 of the group got rare drops as well.
Also to the people qq’ing about magic find gear you can always use the magic find food.
This was probably included to help the crafters who make that gear as well as give better chances for loot drops.
If you can’t run a dungeon in rare magic find gear you are dong something wrong.
Awe poor crystal desert boo hoo when I was in EB earlier you didn’t have a lot claimed. If YB does poorly this week it will be worth it if the crystal desert ends up last.
