I think this is about exotics, not ascended. The full set of EXOTIC celestials will take 45 days. Which is rather off-putting indeed. :P
I did it and had no issues. If you want it, do the work.
He said WUPWUP SPIRE which is an ascended staff.

See, that’s an assumption you make. Nothing says that people that ran the train will now spread out to other areas. They might simply leave the game.
Boy if the QD champ train was the last thread people hung on to and had no other reason to play GW2, I feel bad for them. Not because their train is gone, but because such a crappy activity is all they seem to enjoy.
Actually, it may be the last straw, not the last thread. I’ve played quite a number of MMOs and GW2 is by far the most nerfed game I’ve played – and that includes GW1. If I’m wrong, please, someone tell me of another game where so many things (skills, builds, events, loot drops, etc…) are nerfed. Regularly. I’ve loved this game since the beginning but the nerf trend isn’t getting any better. It’s almost as if the players are sort of held in contempt – like if a portion of the player base plays in a way that doesn’t fit some kind of mold, it’s wrong and nerfed.
And for what? Why was this needed? If there’s chat abuse, treat that with the protocol already set up. Why is supplementary nerfing required to control chat demeanor?
RIFT – In the first 3 months they nerfed so many professions to make them unplayable. The nerfs in RIFT were based on whiney players on the forums also. This game is nothing compared to that.
Be careful what you wish for, you may just get it.
Because the 1 per day limit in place right now makes things a little ridiculous… I managed to have a Wupwup spire fall into my lap, and I felt obligated to create a Celestial stat armor set/trinkets to compliment it… But then I found out that you could only craft one charged quartz crystal per day.
Is there any other means of acquiring them? It seems a little odd that this set of armor will take me 45 days at a bare minimum… Hopefully I’m just missing something.
That is they way it is with ascended items. It is not ridiculous, it is supposed to be the people who are interested in getting this armor would put in the work. You can only make one bolt of Silk thread to make Damask once a day also.
That is armor and trinkets are for looks and for doing high level fractals- want the armor, put in the work. You don’t need them anywhere but there (for the Agony resistance slot).
Gem store harvesting tools providing unique resources is a very, very bad idea. Just saying. They should be convenience, not long-term investment. No player should feel forced to buy such items. This comes from a guy with 8 sets.
I just use what I get from merchants. They work just as well and don’t look ridiculous or annoying.
So much criticism, and we have had no community support commentary at all regarding the megaservers, traits and RP community issues that have been pounded out for over a month now.
Whilst the trait alterations to reduce some of the ridiculous requirements are appreciated, there are still several issues to be solved.
If it was on this forum, remember, this is NOT the majority of GW2 players. A majority of players do not post or read here. Many people who post here do not even play the game any more (you can tell all the threads Starting with ‘Bored with GW2’ etc.).
Maybe you actually need to read other places that A.Net posts – Twitter, Reddit, Official WIKI, etc.
What is wrong with megaservers? I like them – they make zones less empty and more fun to cooperate and help other players
Traits? What is wrong with them? It is more similar to the GW1 system and that is what many players wanted.
RP community? They seem to be settling pretty well and doing what they do best. This is especially true since the last update.
You need to expound and not just be declarative – many people don’t understand what you are talking about.
(edited by Dusty Moon.4382)
Well said gentlemen. THIS IS HOW THE MAJORITY OF YOUR PLAYERS FEEL ANET.
ZERG = FUN.
ACTUAL LOOT = FUN.Only weirdos prefer to play a MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER Online game in small packs and boo and hiss should – God forbid – a MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER crowd form.
I think you should avoid speaking for the majority of players based on forum comments. If you go read Reddit, for example, the response is overwhelmingly positive.
Also. That you think Massively Multiplayer is the same as Zerg is a little troubling.
Reddit is not necessarily great for observing people’s reactions since it’s a minority that goes there and posts.
You want to get a correct idea of what’s going on? Go in game and see how players feel about it and how empty and deserted it is compared to last year.I’m sure Anet has access to metrics that can easily prove that this year’s QP is a smashing fail compared to last year’s.
Same with this forum – this forum is a minority and mostly here to complain and many don’t even play the game any more.
The game is NOT empty and deserted – if you think that then you are : 1. Blind. 2. NOT OBSERVANT. 3. A TROLL
It’s so that people would buy gems and convert them to gold. This is on one of their official advertisement pages.
Exactly this.
This is where business model interferes with game design. Why F2P and B2P methods do not work.
LOL – sorry you are wrong – GW1 proves that B2P works.
Sub model only works if they give you WMORE than what F2P and B2P give you and most of the time they give you less because it is hidden behind a cash curtain (ESO Imperial race) or in the CS only (Rift had items like that).
Nothing in the CS, in GW2, is needed or necessary to enjoy the game.
Nope, never heard of that, things change and the game gives you no clue, it is a massive world and ANET doesn’t care about telling you what’s new, sorry but I’m not going back to every zone in the game I’ve finished to just check if they changed something there. Besides, LA destroyed? don’t know what happened? No biggy, ask the NPC:
-Hey WTF happened dude?
(NPC shows you a big explosion, says there were a few bad guys)
- Dude, WTF happened?
no further explanation or interactive gameplay, exactly like that dumb Theramore lazy event that made me quit wow forever. And trust me, I do keep a vague track of those patches (generally too late, I just say, dam, missed that event).
Why should they tell you everything? I mean, don’t you ever feel like going out and exploring what is out there? That is what immersion is all about. Don’t you ever want to find something no one else has just because? If you want be lead around by your nose, then play something like D3: ROS.
….i play an mmo for the game, really don’t care about the loot at all……young players these days….
Same here. If I make enough to keep me in siege wvw, I’m a happy camper. But the loot frenzy in this game…sheesh.
It is in all games – it is the RAID/Entitled attitude that is rearing it’s ugly head.
There is NO treadmill, UNLESS you want the look items (legendary and ascended items).
As Vesuvius said – the Pavillion, 3-headed Wurm and, Tequatl are all Group-coordination content. A.Net is adding content like that and the majority on this forum are whining against it.
Real money -> Gems -> Gold conversion has been part of the game from day 1, didn’t you know?
But did you know that the focus on gemstore is actually increasing so much?
But did you know that their jobs depend on people spending in the gem store and not just providing free content?
But did you know that you can give great content and people will buy from the gem store out of loyalty to the product instead of putting content exclusively in the gem store and saying “Buy it or no new content?”
City of Heroes did it. It was quite profitable, too. Everything in the store could be accessed in the game, but players were so loyal to Paragon that they would buy from the store because it supported their beloved game. I know because I spent hundreds of dollars in the store on stuff I didn’t really need.
It was also a sub game. People feel more loyal if they pay to play monthly. This is a pay once play as much as you like game. People feel that they are ‘entitled’ to it – different attitudes in different games.
Pretty sure they might actually be trying to force stabilization on the exchange. They don’t want to stop people from converting, that would be stupid. But by making it harder to get gold they encourage people to put Gems back into the pool to get gold, lowering prices.
I don’t play for loot. Playing for loot in this game is absurd. Just like playing for loot in almost any sandbox is pretty absurd. Acceptable loot is easily accessible and even plentiful. I also don’t play this game to “win” all the money, because that seems to be the actual definition of loot here. We’re not talking about gear drops, or quality of gear, but the amount of gold whatever drops can be converted into. It’s sort of kind of neat to be “rich” in a video game, but ultimately to what end? What are you doing with all the gold?
I haven’t been restricted from killing anything, just how tough a portion of those things are, and to my knowledge the story hasn’t changed.
So the run down is, I don’t see the problem. It’s a lot of QQ for nothing important.
People see bling and they want it is all. Also, they still think that getting ascended/legendary is going to make them OP (and they want that – it is the WoW, RIFT, TERA problem). And yes, I agree, it is all QQ’ing for nothing.
I think they want the prices to drop in the TP as right now they are ridiculous.
If they want prices to drop then they should increase drop rates and fix certain recipes to not be absurd, silk and silver dubs being the 2 biggest culprits. But instead they have done the exact opposite. The truth is they like the prices high and they like low drop rates and they like having few ways to make gold, so that buying gems looks like a better alternative. Would you like to grind 100hrs for the item or just buy some gems. They know what they are doing and many of the players know what they are doing also.
I get plenty of nice drops and have no issue with what is going on with drops. People are going for bling and IT SHOULD cost. That is the issue and why the champ trains in lowbie areas were nerfed. People would run that all day and get the money they need. If you want bling it should be HARD to get. Right now it was too easy to make money. I know about 7 different players that have 6 legendaries each. Think about how much gold that is – it is too easy to get them and that is why they nerfed the drops.
People don’t understand that – bling, in this game, is about working for it as it is optional – now you have to work for it if you want it.
Pretty sure they might actually be trying to force stabilization on the exchange. They don’t want to stop people from converting, that would be stupid. But by making it harder to get gold they encourage people to put Gems back into the pool to get gold, lowering prices.

Warrior is OK but too simple.
I prefer more complicated professions, Engineer, Mesmer, Guardian.
The GW2 servers can barely handle the load of just the game, they would self destruct if fed even more load.
It is not the servers – it is your PC/CPU that can’t handle the load. This game is very CPU heavy and single threaded.
As for the OT, there are plenty of MMO’s that do not have COMM software built in. There are plenty of other free programs for this.
We on TC server have our own MUMBLE server and every guild has specific channels and special WvW channels.
(edited by Dusty Moon.4382)
WOW – how long did it take you to get to 80? Really that is all you paid for.
I think if every high level player that ran QD Champ Train goes to Orr, Anet’s goals will have been met. Note they did NOT nerf Champ Train rewards any farther, just removed all Champs from Starter Zones. It is a location specific change, not an activity/reward change.
Claiming that PvE is being “attacked” by the Devs is just another massive exaggeration that this forum is famous for….
I get that Orr is a lvl 80 zone, but isn’t the whole point of down-leveling in this game to encourage max levels players to play in all the zones, and not just lvl 80 zones?
True, but the WHOLE zone not just 5 little pieces of it and ignore the rest.
The problem is that I also see lots of people arguing this:
1) We’re tired of doing the same thing over and over!
2) Why did you change Pavilion!?! It should be exactly the same as last year!Let’s say every successful completion of Boss Blitz offered… 10g for Bronze Reward Level, 25g for Silver Reward Level, Ascended box for Gold Reward Level. Guaranteed.
How many would be complaining about the change? Zero.
How many would be complaining that you can’t just zerg around? Zero.
How many would be complaining that the event doesn’t have obvious enough goals? Zero.
There are many issues with the way this event has been built. Sadly, the player satisfaction for an event is so highly tied to rewards, that can make the discussion of the underlying content or systems very challenging.
They said China and NA/EU would be exactly the same. A.net saw people leveling characters fast in that area and they don’t want that.
Just like at the beginning of the game, when players were complaining that areas were too hard and that was until the players learned HOW to play those areas. That is all it is now. People EXPECTED ANOTHER CHAMP FARM and they didn’t get it.
People wanted a less kittened game and they have it now. Now the same people are complaining.
What he’s probably talking about is post max level advancement and that IS something this game is missing. One of the advancements in every game I’ve played with this system is the ability to add out of combat movement speeds.
It’s in D3, it’s in Rift, it’s in FFXI, it’s in AoC, it’s in CoH, it’s in NWO see where we’re going? It’s a game genre thing now so it’s pretty much expected by the masses when we play an mmo, as essential to any game as a wallet or changing skins, so it begs the question, why isn’t this on the list of upcoming features on the wiki site or why hasn’t it been part of a CDI post?
So, if those games all fall of cliffs, you want GW2 to follow? It is NOT a genre thing, please. There were games that didn’t have them (Knight Online is one example). The speed is not warranted or needed in this game as we have WP, that are faster and then with runes, etc you can get the 33% max speed boost.
If you want mounts, go play those games – GW2 doesn’t need them.
GW2 is DESIGNED from the ground to favor zerg mechanics, due to how dynamic events work. Putting counter-mechanics in it, like requiring organization, massive scaling, no loot/xp will always end frustrating everyone.
Even zerg events that require coordination and that i consider fun and well implemented fall in this trap, like tequatl – Very well designed IF you have good commanders/ people who know what they’re doing, which means parking in the map 1 hour before the spawn, horrible and hopeless fight if you dont….which goes against the very philosophy of gw2.
Honestly, the only people i know who seem to be enjoyin the pavillion are on this forum. Everyone in my 2 guilds, all my friends and everyone in map chat HATES it.
The mechanics DO NOT favor zergs – it is the players that feel that way. The players get lazy and just go to for the fastest route possible – which is zerg DPS. Saying the mechanics favor zerg is just a silly, uninformed statement.
With Tequatl and the 3-headed wurm (as were some of the Temples and higher level bosses), it was the start of more difficult mechanics that need coordination and communication, which is what GW2 was all about. After all, all the races are cooperating with each other to defeat the Elder Dragons.
If your guild doesn’t like a challenge then they don’t have to play the Pavillion because you need to actually coordinate and communicate, not zerg mindlessly. Obviously, they couldn’t deal with good coordinated WvW either because they just want to zerg, spamming one skill.
People wanted the game to be harder and now that they get it, they are complaining that they can’t be mindless and stand in one place spamming one skill.
I say GJ A.Net!!
The pavilion is harder now than it was last year – if that’s good or bad is debatable.
The pavilion is now a complete waste of time compared to last year because the rewards are so bad I don’t see why anyone would bother to put in the time and coordination it takes to get gold reward (more than once anyway).
The bottom line is that while last year the Crown Pavilion was hailed as one of the most awesome features added, with people going there and enjoying it for the whole duration of its stay this year’s pavilion is a ghost town.
People don’t do it because there’s no point. Last year you could get T6 drops, champ boxes and even chests after a boss was killed.
It was fun to team up with people and get loot together. This year you have to coordinate a LOT of people and you’ll get what? Nothing good. The gold reward isn’t worth the 8 minutes spent do get it.
Might as well do a dungeon path.
It is a game, do they HAVE to give you a reward every time? I think it is ludicrous to think that way. In RL, you don’t get rewarded every time you do something. You are starting to sound like this…
If there is no reward for a task in a game then what is the point. The dopamine fix you will get for repeating something without any reward shrinks immensely every time it is repeated for most people. In competitive games there is a dopamine reward if you win or even if its a close match and you do very well but lose. So in that case I can understand repeating the activity for no reward. But to do something in a MMORPG video game more than once just for the sake of doing it for little or no reward feels like a waste of time that could be used more productively doing something else in the game. Maybe like doing something that does give a reward.
Have you ever done crossword puzzles or any games like that and they are games? The reward is actually finishing the puzzle. I guess people need to feel that they have to be given a shiney every time they do something – Pavlov’s Dog syndrome…..
This is the ‘Entitled’ Syndrome – feeling that everything HAS to have a reward. It doesn’t – finishing something is reward on it’s own merit.
(edited by Dusty Moon.4382)
They need to add this to the forums…
LOL, I agree the forums have become the new MMO and sometimes I enjoy playing it when I get bored in GW2.
Totally Agree. This is GW2: The Whine-ding Trail!!! :-D
The lack of ability to map farming nodes is causing far more inflation than the Queensdale train ever could. I’m selling mats I’d had stored for months at 10x the price I could have sold them before the megaserver change.
Map farming? – not hard to do – jeez, people want things given to them.
I had read somewhere that the new NPC for collecting blade shards would also be collecting other old LS items. However, either those plans changed, or this was merely a suggestion or rumor.
I would like to get clarification as to whether or not the following types of items should be kept for the possibility of future trade-ins, or if they should be deleted:
- Aetherblade Code Fragment
- Molten Code Fragment
- Toxic Code Fragment
- Watchwork Code Fragment
- Scarlet’s Lockbox Code Fragment
- Found HeirloomYou can delete all the code fragments. Anet removed the chests without warning and upset a lot of players (myself included). They then stated it was a mistake, put the chests back for a little bit, and then gave players fair warning that they would remove the chests permanently and urged us to use all the fragments before they did so.
The chests are still there. They have NEVER been removed. I don’t know where you got your information from but they have been there all along. The screen cap was done today, FYI.
If you don’t really know, just spouting what others say, please make sure it is really accurate and true. Certainly, this is not the case.
Hi,
I thought I remembered saying this, but I couldn’t remember where. Well, on May 8th at 13:23 on page 4:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/An-End-to-the-Queensdale-Train/page/4
I said:
“They should move all Champion Trains to high level zones. Maybe low level zones should have 1 champion each or something, but not enough for a train.”
I’m so sorry. I didn’t realize the Developers were actually listening.
People say A.Net doesn’t listen, well they do. I say the Champ Train should have been flushed a long time ago.
GW2 is DESIGNED from the ground to favor zerg mechanics, due to how dynamic events work. Putting counter-mechanics in it, like requiring organization, massive scaling, no loot/xp will always end frustrating everyone.

I’m sorry, but I just love how so many players SPEAK FOR ANET and why they nerf this or that. You have no clue, honestly. These are your opinions only, nothing more.
I feel sorry for those whose only pleasure is seeing others unhappy.
Kythan, I understand your confusion. In every LS content released, it is all made for zerg play and huge groups of players, which to me, with all the nerfs, is counter to some of the things they do otherwise. I say this as the Queen’s Jubilee opens again… that is the very “event” that got me started on zerg play. Until then, I had been happily just playing the game, completely unaware that you could even have more than 4g in your bank account.
All you need do is read A.Net’s blog posts with an objective eye. They have stated all this before, nothing is new.
In GW1, A.net put in a nerf code, so the more you run over one area, the less you get. That was a fact. It is in GW2 also but does not work as well. So, they look at all the people running the Champ Trains and just nerfed them into oblivion because the code was not working.
They already stated that Champs should only give rewards one a day. There was an exception for the lowbie area but all the lvl 80’s running the champ trains there ruined it.
Go play ArcheAge – GW2 will never be that.
“We think that part of having this personal story and having a strong attachment to your characters, is being able to see your characters and feel a bond with them, having an attachment to them.”
I’m sorry, but to use that as an excuse for why there is no first person OPTION has to be the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. You could just as easily argue that not being able to go into first person DETACHES you from your character.
The only real reason I can think of for why this hasn’t been done already – it would look really silly to add it now after all this time. It would be like announcing in the patch notes – “GW2, now in FULL COLOR! .. LIKE EVERY OTHER GAME ON THE PLANET!”.
And can we stop discussing the details on how it would be implemented? This is just first person mode, were not launching rockets to the moon. This is a SOLVED PROBLEM.
You THINK it is an EXCUSE, they do not. They designed and wrote the game – period. That is what they said, and now you are disputing it because you don’t like it.
No 1st person mode in this game – go play an FPS if you want that.
I’m confused.
Champs are buffed to drop boxes/bags
Champs drop rare skins. Cool looking BTW!
Three major trains are established.
One is nerfed (understandable) due to players letting events fail
Two remain for awhile
Then champ drops are nerfed (especially those coins)
FG chain is partially nerfed (Trio)
QD nerfed too the ground (possibly to the center of the earth one might say)I’m not much affected. I participated a bit in the chains, but I would get bored too quick and got sick of the drama (especially in QD – /clap clap btw). So I can rightfully say I am not whining about these changes.
But What the Heck!. I’m confused, if you buff champ loot and then discourage trains. You encourage zergs/trains, but nerf the one most accessible. Was the intention all along to kill the occasional champ for loot and that ultra rare but ultra cool skin?? Should I participate in FG, Orr, EotM chains or are there nerfs incoming there too? Ban-hammers coming??
So what ANET is your vision about champs and farming them? What is your opinion of zerging and trains? Why encourage them through game design and then nerf?
I’m so confused??? 0_o
Answer is NO to farming. What don’t you understand about that? They said from beta they don’t believe in farming. They have it so you only get one champ bag a day from them, not every 20 minutes, that was an exploit.
The QD was a mindless zerg – not doing anything useful and annoying the players actually trying to level. I am happy that it was done – too many level 80’s just doing it BECAUSE!!!
@Dusty Moon.4382. I feel your pain. I don’t think he/she is going to get that mounts/more speed skills at least in the foreseeable future are not going to happen, don’t fit the game, and are completely necessary.
I just had an argument with my office wall about this subject, and it accepts it better.
So True – people want what people want without regards to whether it is even possible.
how about NO?
open world PvP would kill the game in 3 days flat.
You think? There are more people in WvW that in PvE.
There is a huge difference between WvW and Open World PvP – one Guilds seem to do more and more cooperation between guilds and the other is just out and out ganking. WvW is more organized than the other.
I think Open World PvP WOULD kill the game and the RP’ers would leave since it is immersion killing for them.
How about PvE servers for the carebears and PvP servers for us?
The game IS NOT DESIGNED FOR OPEN WORLD PvP – what part of that don’t you understand? A.net has even said that in many posts.
I suppose if Anet just sticks their fingers in their ears this will all go away soon. The players, not the gold sellers.
As soon as they are reported, they are banned but since China is active now GW2 has gotten back on their Radar.
A.Net can only do so much. The players have to protect their accounts also. Many of the new gold sellers are hacked accounts.
Let’s try this again…
I am trying to see what the point of mounts would be aside from aesthetics.• The Waypoint travel system is unsatisfactory
Then rent a mount for 10 silver to travel the same distance.
The cost of waypoint travel isn’t an issue. It’s the way the system is designed. If you are not making enough gold playing the game to support WP travel, then what are you doing that is causing it to be such a burden?
ANet will likely make a gem store item that reduces the cost for a period of time before adding mounts in this game. Why? It makes no sense. If you can’t afford one or two silver for the WP – then your 10 silver for renting a mount is ludicrous. A.Net will more than likely NOT add mounts to the TP because this game really doesn’t support them
• Immersion
Not really. Immersion would be stable/parking/valet services that where you could pick up and leave your ride. I only know of a few places in game that house Moas like that. What breaks immersion is riding around in places where one clearly shouldn’t be riding. The horses in ESO are everywhere and looking very strange not using roads, running up stairs and vanishing disturbingly at doors.+Mounts are the most immersion-breaking part of any game. If you look at ESO it is a big world where very few spots have quests, etc – the rest has nothing in it. You need to have mounts for that – it is a poorly designed game.
This game is not ESO and mounts would look stupid as does the broom actually.+
• Mounts are for everyone
There are currently 5 races that are very diverse in look and with pretty interesting animations on how each race and gender have their own style. The broom isn’t really much to animate around, as it has no moving components, but other rideable apparatuses or critters will require attention, for how it interacts with every race and all armors.
Devs have enough clipping issues to deal with without a load of unnecessary window dressing.I mentioned the clipping issue before – they need to deal with that first
• Mounts ARE lore friendly -site several examples as to what makes they lore friendly-
I will concede that lore indicates that mounts have been used throughout Tyria’s history. But currently, only Asurans use golems as such, to a degree. They also have the technology for the Waypoint and Gate network. Charr have their war machines in the Iron Legion and can travel quickly on all fours if need be. It doesn’t launch a strong case for the addition of mounts, it just seems to make it more awkward.Where is the lore that mounts were used in past of the world? I have not seen that at all. The Golems and WAR MACHINES are just that for war not for riding.
• Because the zones are so big
With the exception of Lornar’s Pass, most are small. With multiple exits, and usually no more than a zone away from a major city or hub, the world we are in is pretty cramped. That and the fact there are so many waypoints, mounts are not needed
• The “2Cool4U” Factor
While I can understand a lot of cases for the addition of mounts, this is the one that I think everyone against the concept bristles at. If these are the sort of case one chooses make, let’s up the ante:
Mounts exclusive to Rangers only. Can choose to ride or fight at your side when initially charmed.
Guild Exclusive mounts: Via guild upgrade. Guild leader chooses mount and guild members of required rank have access to it.
Craftable mounts: Set up a stable or shop to craft transport or breed animals for mounts. Purchase upgrades to your shop for more room, and supplies.
Mounts as killable NPCs Mounts that end up in defeated state can be looted for items, but disappear like normal corpses after a period of time.Mounts do not fit in this game – period. If you want mounts, go to another game
how about NO?
open world PvP would kill the game in 3 days flat.
You think? There are more people in WvW that in PvE.
There is a huge difference between WvW and Open World PvP – one Guilds seem to do more and more cooperation between guilds and the other is just out and out ganking. WvW is more organized than the other.
I think Open World PvP WOULD kill the game and the RP’ers would leave since it is immersion killing for them.
how about NO?
open world PvP would kill the game in 3 days flat.
As I said all carebears can safely crab their PvE megaservers.
If you want Open World PvP there are games designed just for that (ArcheAge, Allods Online and, others).
Can’t y’all get it through your heads, this game was not designed to allow for Open World PvP so they made the Mists for that.
No need for a seperate pvp server; just an on/off switch to get into the pvp mode is enough
They had that in other games (Knight Online comes to mind as does Allods Online)and guess what, there was a way to turn other players flags on and off with an exploit. No to open world PvP, there are other games for that.
The game client—that little downloader that you log into when you want to play—has a couple of persistent problems. 1. It doesn’t allow you to pause the download. If your computer crashes or falls asleep for some reason after before the download finished, the file is corrupted and the client has to review and repair the files before it finishes/redownloads the new update. The file repair can take longer than the actual download.
2. Another thing which causes frustration is that the updates don’t happen automatically. My brother noted that many of his other PC games automatically download updates, but Guild Wars 2 doesn’t. So, whenever he joins me once in a few weeks, he has at least an hour of download time. He’s busy over at college and doesn’t get to play with me that often. And, I get irritated whenever I try to fit in a quick session of GW2 between classes/appointments and realize I forgot about the update, so whoops, no gaming for now! I’ll just spend the next ten minutes downloading… It would be nice if we could have the choice to enable auto updates, so when our computers are running the client can search for and download updates on its own. That would also lessen the chances of #1 happening.
This one does automatically update. It is the same system as in GW1 and that is the technology most of the other companies bought from A.Net.
I have no idea what you are talking about. A.Net does stream the updates but since the game is one big map and zoned, that is what you get an update all at once. If it was instanced, like GW1, you could get in faster.
Hello Fellow GW2 players
I was part of the beta testing, and i believed that despite a few shortcomings this mmo had great potential. However it has not changed since, and after a week of playing with friends, i could clearly see that this game did not quite live up to the hype. Now i am not sure what it’s missing (i am no amazing game developer), but i think many of us here in this thread can agree that GW2 is missing something.
I get that you don’t like the game, but why do people like you have to blatantly lie when you complain about the game?
People would take you much more seriously if you actually grounded your statements in actual facts rather than just lying in order to make things appear worse than they are.I was a part of the beta. It had a lot of potential then. It was an accomplishment to kill a veteran, and you struggled when pulling more than 2 regular old monsters. That was fun and interesting. AI walked out of heavily damaging AoE and kited. That was fun and interesting. Particle effects could be dyed on armor. That was interesting and it was fun to try out different combinations.
Now we have easily killable everything (mostly due to we know the ins and outs)and AI that just stands there until it dies (mostly due to stacking) or changes targets for no discernible reason and plain Jane flames. I still play the game, but a lot of the fun in beta was scrapped.
A lot of the “fun” you speak of from the beta was mostly due to being new at the game and having only blues and greens to work with. Now that everyone is full exotic with reams of forum pages and wiki to craft the perfect build, killing mobs has never been easier.
It’s not that they “scrapped” anything from the beta. We’ve simply grown since then.
Exactly!!! Good Post.
Mounts and extra speed boosts will not be added as it would be considered by many to be P2W feature and that is a slippery slope.
People want to kitten the game to make it easier, I want it harder.
They should open new server with open PvP.
As was stated before, the game WAS NOT designed for Open World PvP – period. It was meant as PvE coop. The Mists was designed as the PvP area. Many of the game designers have stated this very bluntly. To add Open PvP the whole game would have to be redesigned and you would probably lose Ascended and legendary times also – to make it fair. This game will NEVER HAVE OPEN WORLD PvP ON THE PvE MAPS. Same with dueling.
You want open world PvP go to ArcheAge, Rift, TERA – you can get all the ganking you want in.
Always makes me giggle these types of threads.
So let me take a pot shot at what is really going on. You enjoyed gearing up fast in WvWvW and having an advantage over lots of lower level/geared players. Now time has passed and more often than not people have about the same gear level. You still get the odd low level player but for the most part its high level players with good or better gear on. No more ganky videos being made for youtube that call themselves PVP when its really gear vs gear.
So now, what you want, its to open the whole game up to abuse. Thats all it is, no reason to pretend otherwise. Like some have said, sitting on vista points, waiting to jump someone. Yeah, I someone wasnt expecting you to run around in the open looking for an equal fight, nope, wanting to jump low level players again.
Why not come into proper PVP, we all have the same gear and everything, nice and fair like.
So true!!
We have open world PvP in this game, it is called the Mists. The PvE area is for coop play, There are no Factions in this game and since there already is a PvP area in this game, there will be no PvP anywhere in the game, except the mists, since it was not designed to have it any where else.

Yes open world PvP in every zone, not mandatory completely optional. I’ll explain megaserver since some in this thread are apparently not aware that its already here. Whenever we go to a PvE zone right now you are thrown in an instance of that map with people from any of the the GW2 servers. Not just your own.
No extra factions are necessary because everyone is already assigned a faction color for the week for WvW (red, blue, green). So the only difference I’m suggesting is that people from a server that is a different WvW color than yours for the will be able to fight you in any zone.
Imagine camping at vistas with a knockback ready or giant battles at world boss spawns or just the ability to fight in Southsea or Frostgorge in general would be awesome. If you think that would cause too much grief and aggravate you then go to a non-pvp version of the zones while doing your map completes. That simple.
IndigoSundown.5419, if this interferes with the lore too much for you, explain WvW and Edge of The Mists lol.

“The overall design for Guild Wars 2 does not support fully open world PvP and it would take a prohibitive amount of work to even make it possible. World versus world is our version of open world PvP, and while it isn’t ‘true’ open world PvP for more PvP purists, it does contain many of the elements that make world PvP so exciting. Hopefully it will mostly satisfy people that want open world PvP.” — Mike Ferguson
There you have it – NO!
So I was reminiscing about my world pvp days in WoW and came up with an idea of how that could be implemented in GW2. With the megaserver this could be easily done by giving players a choice of going to a pvp or non-pvp version of any of the world maps whenever they waypoint there and players are split by current WvW color. Imagine if your doing your guild quests and you decide to enter a pvp zone! Map completes would be a million times more fun to me if this was in the game. Anyone else want this feature?
The game was not designed for PvP like you are asking for. A.Net has already stated that. This game is not what you want, move on.
Anet, I trusted you. I believed in you.
Because of the lack of Magi stat exotic upgrade components, you’ve made my desire to maintain a balance of stat an impossible dream.
I open my character stats, and always sigh in thorough disappointment.
1,265 Power, 1,265 Toughness
1,262 Precision, 1,262 VitalityMy attention is then drawn to the upgrades I have slotted in my trinkets… Three of which contain Rare upgrades, not exotics, which would grant an extra +1 in Vitality and Precision…
Anet. You’ve destroyed my trust. I was so close to achieving perfect balance and harmony, and you’ve gone and trampled over it.
What was your build ? Unless you post everything about it – it means nothing and is just another whine post.
The point of the post is questioning why there aren’t any exotic rarity upgrade components for the Magi stats, when that combo is available in both exotic and ascended armor and weapons.
There is – from Dungeons.
Exotic rarity. There are /rare/ rarity (Crest of the Magi), but nothing for exotic rarity with the stat combo +Healing power, +Precision, +Vitality. There’s Cleric (Exquisite Sapphire Jewel) and Apothecary (Exquisite Passion Flower), but again, no Magi.

There is no Dire, that you can make, you have to salvage them.

There is – from Dungeons. Also the Magi Exotic and Rare inscriptions/insignias are salvaged using a Black Lion Kit. There is an Ascended armor Hronk’s. It took me 2 minutes on Google to find that out but people would rather complain that actually look for information.

I think it would be cool to have a mount even if I did need to buy it on the gem store.
There already is one, the riding broom. If they add conventional mounts to the gem store the pay to win complainers and gem store is evil crowd will come screaming.
I don’t want mounts because of the excess screen clutter. I don’t care about speed boosts or what not, I just don’t want my screen cluttered with players on mounts everywhere. I have yet to see an MMO with mounts where I didn’t think they looked silly. That is why I don’t want them.
You can’t fight on the broom. It is slow also….. It is a vanity item for Halloween.
