Ye. I havent played PvP for a while now but yesterday I gave it a new try and we had a realy neat and even fight (Me and my gf in a group and the rest where randoms). But then I noticed two mesmers slip by and they had destroyed the gate before so we got no new heads up that someone was heading to our keep. I posted on team ‘Two mesm at Lord’ I went to defend but I was to late. I got the voiceover message ‘Your lord is under attack’ once and 1sec after that we lost. I didn’t see what the mesmers did but WTH they must have killed the lord in less than 2-3 seconds.

PvE/WvW/PvP players thoughts on cost of WTS?

Havent read all posts but I just wanted to answer my opinion.

I don’t mind them spending money on these stuff as I expect that it is accounted for in their budget. I don’t think these money would have been a big difference in the game. GW2 needs publicity and eSports is something Anet wanted to aim for with GW2 so I think it is a good thing.

I dunno how many people it attracts but in my opinion PvP in GW2 is atm very easy to quit. At the moment PvP in the game is handled very poorly, the so called Practice matches where players team switch just to be in the winning team, R80 players go to roflstomp new players or just troll and players who just goes afk. I have taken care of a few broken PvP-players who where close to leave the game becouse they got mangled in Practice… They didn’t even dare to go Unranked. When playing Unranked the changes is higher to meet a more skilled group than in playing Ranked as most players play Unranked becouse of no Skyhammer, Spirit Watch and Courtyard. The Specialization Patch increased damage a whole lot even in PvP and many players and alot of new players seems to not like this, it is hard to learn the basics of the game and get a good feel to it.

So even if WTS gives GW2 alot of new PvP players I don’t think most of them will be staying for long.
As I said, this is just my opinion and nothing I said are pure fact.

Hmm…

Good idea but I think it is flawed anyway… What you do is that you put the “need” at another place. If they would just add a healer class and good healing and content that needed a healer we would end up with the old Trinity look a like. If they did OP’s suggestion then content would probably need to be remade to fit this new type and Healers would be needed again and we are back at the trinity stuff…

I dunno but healing is in a pretty good spot, it could be a little better at some skills and places. Base healing should be less and Healing Power should have more impact in my opinion. I play cleric Guardian and Necro and it is really neat builds I got. It is not the best but I actually do alot of good for the groups I play in. I also have a Zerker gear for my guardian and I see the difference I do when I switch sets.

As to the gems bit:

If one buys gems because at the time of their purchase they were being marketed as being able to serve a given purpose, for example purchasing mix and match outfits, then the removal of mix and match outfits means that the gems can no longer serve an advertised function. If the merchant strips a product of the advertised functionality which was the impetus for the customer’s purchase, then the customer is entitled to a refund.

The gems no longer serve the advertised purpose for which the customer bought them and so the customer is entitled to a refund.

Hmm… Very true. Even though out of topic I have to ask again, can you refund bought gems? Since asking for refund on a bought item can only be refunded with the same currency used to buy said item. I mean you can buy Gems with Gold so it would be a wierd way to ask for money refund if you bought gems with gold. So you get a refund on the item you bought, then you have to ask for a refund on the gems you bought as they as you say ‘serves no more the purpose that they where to’.

I like a lot of things about GW2 – it’s right in the sweet spot for me in many ways.

I am gonna steal your list and change some things, so it fits what I like. It is a nice list.

  • Pay once and play as much as you like
  • The lore and that it is not Standard Fantasy Lore #234235
  • The sense of humor (the Asura make me happy in so many ways)
  • The many different ways of playing the game. In PvE alone, I like the diversity of activity: jumping puzzles, combat, exploration, story, big group stuff like the Silverwastes, etc etc etc.
  • The collaborative nature and the way that the game mechanics themselves encourage it
  • A healthy gender diversity in NPCs
  • The fact that there are little bits of story everywhere. Sometimes I just hang around different areas to listen to the dialog of the NPCs.
  • I really liked the Living Story, esp. Season 1. Having a new thing to see every 2 – 4 weeks was awesome, even if it was just a little thing.
  • Super Adventure Box is awesome.
  • The fact that (once you ignore the meta-obsessed people) you can use many different play styles and still be reasonably effective.
  • How dungeons have a story mode and then several exploreable modes
  • The variety of achievements available, especially the collection style achievements
  • The combat system. It feels dynamic, but not a system that requires high-twitch uber hand eye coordination to be viable
  • The holiday events are pretty fun, even the PvP activities. I especially like that not all of the activities are combat-based (the holiday bells, Sanctum Sprint)
  • Kasmeer and Marjory (a lot of people seem to dislike them, but I always liked them)
  • How the various races feel like actually different cultures (though I wished they’d diversify the subcultures in the races)
  • The Cattle-pult (Would be nice to see a funny animation on this one when you use it)
  • Air Dagger 1 on the Elementalist – I love the animations and the effects
  • How easy it is to separate the look of your armor from the stats it provides
  • The art style and theme
  • That I can do everything in this game without having to Grind something called End game content

Did you even read what I wrote? They just use plain urls nothing special and that happend for months now.

As Basandra Skye.4031 said what blocks them from typing
wvw.this.url.com, this.url.com and even wvw.this .url. com and so on.

They would have to block every combination… And also as Basandra Skye.4031 said, you are pretty unwise if you happen to write the whole URL in your webbrowser since you can’t Ctrl+C in GW2 chat (Not what I know of atleast). … But I have seen examples of people being fooled by the in-game mails so actually there are people who are that dumb. Sorry if I offended anyone but it is not very clever.

I have enjoyed almost every update and Wardrobe change is the one of the best changes in the game. There have been so many changes to this game but most of them has been realy good changes. We are all different and we like different things, I am not going to say that OP isn’t entitled to complain about these changes but I think most of us players are happy with them and Anet will not have them reverted.

This is an MMO, they change all the time. I am an old SWG player, I know.

I mean, GW2 and gems: You buy gems to buy somethings with gems then you buy something with gems but you are not happy with your purchase. You get a refund but with gems becouse it was not the gems that you where unhappy with, it was the “product” you bought. In your anology you buy Playtime but the company that handles it gives you no refund on the timecard.

So the difference in these two cases is:
Money → Gems → Product → Refund with Gems
Money → Timecard – No refund.

Also in your scenario you buy a timecard and they turn of all games witch gives you no other options to use your timecard on. While in the topic scenario you get options to use your gems on another purchase.

Also you state that Vayne is going of Topic but you always refer to your old post about money and investment that was just about getting refund and also you state that you do not get any refund. Well you do get refund and I am not sure if it works but have you tried asking for a refund on your bought Gems? I guess it won’t work as it will make the exchangerate wonkers but have you tried? And also those gems you have got refunded, do you still have them? Are they still unused? If not, what are you complaining about?

Lol by reading the posts here speaks so clearly how OP Rampage was (and in a way still is) when only one skill nerf makes a whole class fall to the “lowest tier”. I dunno yet I havent played PvP since after the nerfs becouse I am still waiting for more so I can’t comment how Viable warriors are now in my opinion but it is do darn wrong when one skill is a whole class. This was a wonderfull nerf.

Also, I beleaver there are alot of viable builds for Warriors, it is just that that Warrior players have gotten so used to the “win button” so they have forgot how to actually play or have never even learned how to play in this new damage increase we got.

Practice Arena

Practice Arenas, also known as custom arenas or hot-join, use a game selection system which allows players to join a game based on map and available space. In this arena, players can join matches already in progress, so the number of active players can change over the course of the match as people join or leave. The game tries to keep teams even by changing a player’s team if one team has two or more players than the other.

Many server-created matches with generic match settings are available. Additional matches can be created with a Custom Arena Starter Kit, allowing players to customize the settings.

Custom Arena Starter Kit — Used to create a new PvP Custom Arena with 30 days of play time. Double-click to open the “Create Custom Arena” panel.
Custom Arena Time Tokens — Used to add one day of time to a Custom Arena. Used from your Custom Arena management panel or double-click while playing in any Custom Arena to add time to that arena.

Unranked and Ranked Arena

Unranked and ranked arenas are more competitive game modes. Each arena consists of teams of 5 versus 5, and players can queue for a game while alone or while in a group. PvP Builds are locked after the match has started. All queued players are prompted to accept the match before it can start. Once all 10 players are ready, a map will be selected through a vote and the match will begin.

Matchmaking

The PvP matchmaking algorithm is the Glicko2 matchmaking rating (MMR) and helps match players with other players with similar skill levels.
The metrics used during matchmaking include: rating, rank, party size, profession, ladder position, and dishonor.
Players can search for parties for Custom Arenas and Team Arenas in categories in the Looking For Group tool.

Auto-Balance

Games will no longer autobalance after one team has reached 80% of the maximum score if the game ends by score.
Games will no longer autobalance when within two minutes of the end of the game if the game ends by time.
Autobalance functionality has been updated to give a new volunteer bonus to any players who volunteer for balancing, as well as giving any players balanced the winner bonus. When volunteers are lacking, random selection will be used.

And addition to this about playing with friends, in Unranked and Ranked if you team up with a buddy but join unranked or ranked you will be partied up with 3 more players. If you wanna play with a friend in Practice you enable so you can see (Dont remember exactly) notices, when a goup member joins an Practice PvP instance it will say ’Player name has joined “PvP server ###” ’ Just click on the red text and you will join the same server.

Been playing since headstart and have taken at best a week break. Now though it is not happening very much and sPvP got ruined so I don’t play PvP very much anymore so I am actually taking a break playing Trove right now.

Part of the problem is that people took the manifesto, and other comments, out of context and read them as, and I’m going to paraphrase this, “the word of god from the mouth of god.” A very good example is just how much people improperly assumed things regarding a precursor “scavenger hunt” and basically would riot every time a patch came out with no info.

how is this possibly taking things out of context? it says what it says. You can argue that the context was anet trying to sell us the game, so they are hyping the product as much as possible, deviating from the real game as much as possible, but they still said what they said and they fed us so much BS before the game was launched, that their credibility is zero at this time.

I guess that the context you refer to is: “they are a company trying to sell the game so of course everything they say will be a lie”

I rarely grind and I dislike grinding. I have never fealt forced to grind in this game to enjoy every part of it, even all fractals levels can be enjoyed without grinding. Some people grind becouse they want stuff now now now now now but most stuff you can get by just playing every part of the game and some day you got what you want, It has worked for me. But what it is about is not having to grind to have fun and that you can in this game and you have always been able to since release of the game. So offcourse you cant take that out of context when it is so “Because, like Guild Wars before it, GW2 doesn’t fall into the traps of traditional MMORPGs. And monkey behind a typewriter will eventually replicate entirety of Shakespear’s writings. Unlike eternal cosmic monkey we have limited time on this planet and some of us would like to have fun when we give portion of our time to this game.

Entirety of the game has come down to SW chest farm DT chest farm and champ trains. The rest of it is barren.

As I said, that is something you choose to do since you feel like you don’t have enough time on the earth to get “that” stuff. You are not forced to farm or grind it to get to another content in the game that is what “Because, like Guild Wars before it, GW2 doesn’t fall into the traps of traditional MMORPGs. It doesn’t suck your life away and force you onto a grinding treadmill; it doesn’t make you spend hours preparing to have fun rather than just having fun(…)” means. You can farm and grind if you want, but you don’t have to. SW is alot of fun and I do SW now and then becouse I enjoy it, I do not go there to get a few goldz or whatever, I go there to enjoy the game and I can do that without any grinding at all.

We get it, your favorite min/max build got trashed and you have an ax to grind. Learn to adapt both your build and playstyle. I know I’m relearning my thief and she wasn’t even some awesome meta build and it’s annoying. Change is the nature of MMOs builds.

I don’t want a balance patch becouse of that, I want Mesmer, Cele ele, Warriors rampage, Burning och the way to high damage in PvP fixed. It has ruined my PvP enjoyement and I havent played PvP for a good while now becouse PvP is utterly booring, broken and uneven.

How do you deal with minion mancers

Well I am not good at these things iether but as long as I go 1 Vs 1 against a MM-tanky build can handle them.

First of all I try to put down as many AoE’s as possible and i single out the MM’s Blood Fiend first of all and after that I focus everything on the MM. This though requires that you are not a tanky build yourself becouse then you will take to much time getting down the MM before it can resummon it’s Minions and also go into Shroud mode to earn some more time to get it’s minions back.

I mostly play Cele Symbol/med Guard and Cele Bomb Engineer and can handle most of them pretty easy if as I said it’s 1 Vs 1 if not I get a hard time.

I did but not anymore.

I only did HJ becouse I fealt insecure and didn’t want the team I joined loose becouse of me. In HJ it didn’t feel as important so I choose it.
But after a year or more of HJ and loosing becouse of leavers and side switchers I got tired of it and realized that I don’t get any better like this so I finally tried Unranked and to my suprice teams where perfect and players where kind enough (Most of the time) and I continued like that. Now I only Play HJ (Practice) to try out new builds even though in Practice that is pretty rubbish since iether you outnumber your enemy or you will get outnumbered so you doesn’t realy get the feel of your build as it should be.

I usually get 30min now and then so I rather do 1-2 matches in Unranked or even ranked then going Practice and hope my team will win. Becouse in practice it is rarely about skill it is only about being in the team that has most players.

perhaps reverting it to before is not possible, since things, once changed, do not un-change. this is the culture here.

what about, empty melee auto attacks reduce remaining blind duration by 1 second ?

would that be a bit more fair?

Well I do not know you but it seems like you didn’t even know of this until the other blind thread was created. So what I mean is keep blind as it always have been since the game was released (Not since beta) but change so classes does not have access to this blind-spamming that has been introduced with the change too specialization.

peak performance is the issue not rampage imo

Well since Anet decided to give World bosses x2 HP balance the game efter the new damage increase I guess we will not see a decrease in peak performance but rather a nerf to the skills, specialization that do a little too well.

Think about it…in the past blind was removed if you swing in the open air.

How worthless is that?

Only worthless if you were spamming it and not timing it. There’s a reason why most blind skills are fast/instant, to be a pseudo-interrupt.

Well most are not all, engineers smokebomb is not instant. I have to time it right to be effective and that is even when blind is “cured” by striking a target.

I do Agree with OP in most points. We have had blind for so long and it has been fine so don’t touch the condition but remove the amount of blindness that has been introduced now.

if we’re blinded and we swing our melee weapons in the air, blind will be removed.
blind behaved like this since beta weekends 3 years ago, i have no idea when blind was ridiculously buffed to behave like a reverse aegis.

as of now, if you are blinded, blind will not be removed on empty melee auto attacks in the air, you actually need to be next to some enemy or hostile attack-able item and attack, only then blind will be removed.

this is ridiculous, and unacceptable.

blind should be removed by empty auto attacks.

I would say that Blind would be bugged in my opinion if it got “cured” by striking the air. So I do not agree with you and blind is good as it is and it gives us more tactical playstyle like this.

The game has become broken

WvW – Golem Rush should have been a 2-day weekend event or something. A week of this means I’m not going in WvW this week.

PvP – The trait and “balance” changes have completely made PvP no fun. 2s death to mesmers, rampage warriors, d/d fire eles, burn guardians, backstab thieves…Everyone is a power build everything is “instadeath, then cap”. Everything ends up in a zerg fight.

PvE – Nothing has changed. So, condi builds don’t have to swap out in order to kill a boss. Yay. No new storyline, no changes to dungeons, nothing to collect if you’re around 16k AP. Just the same old stuff every day while gold piles up useless.

You’ve either ignored or broken every aspect of the game in the last 2 weeks and there’s been NO evidence that you grasp that certain classes need to be rebalanced since the drastic trait/stat changes. Those were HUGE changes and you were bound to screw something up. Well, people have figured it out and it’s ruined PvP and negatively impacted WvW…except who would know that because if you’re not in a golem, you’re useless this week.

It’s not that easy.

WvW – Their event was planned for a week and announced. I don’t play much WvW but it is just an event, it will be over soon.

PvP – I have complained both about the big damage increase in PvP and I have complained about some classes has one-shot builds. Many other has complained about this to but many other has also stated that they are OK with the changes and don’t want it nerfed. It’s not just a button push and ‘thadaaah!’ everyone is happy. I will atleast hope for a few changes next Teuseday.

PvE – I am repeating myself but I have played since headstart and I still enjoy PvE. Sure I wouldn’t mind alittle more story but hey wait a minute there where some people who wanted a freekin expansion so now we have to do just like one must do in other MMO’s, wait for it to release to get more story. You can’t get it all.

I won’t lie I have started playing less and less becouse there is nothing more to do and PvP is more booring now after that patch and I realy hope for some nerfs. But… A break now and then can be good for you.

When I get trolled and chased all over map by two players I go ‘Haha we are winning 4vs3 haha’.

Though most of the times when that happens my team is pretty crappy and are doing the same thing while enemy team has all points. meh… Just my luck. Two thiefs are not fun but I have seen worse combo and that is one mesmer and one Thief doing great teamwork. Thief stealth them both and as the thief initiate the attack the mesmer finnish it and then the thief stealths and you are dead. The only thing you will se is clones and phantasms flying around. When I am attacked by thiefs only I atleast get the chance to react most of the time.

New to GW2, not having fun

For me the game gets boring for two reasons:

1. PVE is extremely repetitive and uninteresting, with extremely boring rewards.

- Levels 1-80, the goal is the get XP and level up. Which involves doing boring, repetitive hearts, map completion, or world events. While doing these things I often find myself in a Zombie state, or autodrive mode. Just absentmindedly pressing buttions and moving on to the next thing that will get me XP.

And this compared to other MMO’s where most exp are earned from doing repetative Quests only.

- After level 80 is reached, the goal then become to gear up and get cool stuff. This is where the game fails miserably for me. The drop rate on all the coolest things that I want are so impossibly low, that there is almost no hope to get them through random drops. That leaves only one option. Mindless, monotonous grinding for gold, and buying it on the TP. < not my idea of fun in anyway.

And this compared to other MMO’s where most gear you grind for will finally be absolete and you have to grind for new gear. In GW2 you atleast get to have the skins you have found forever. Why not play the game to enjoy the content rather than play the game to earn stuff or be better than someone else? I never played Super Mario Bros. to find the best gear or new skins, I played SMB to enjoy the game. So if I find a Task (Heart) or an Event that isn’t fun I don’t do it and I continue on.

2. Elitism is getting pretty bad in this game.

- While GW2 community is certainly not the worst I’ve ever experienced… (cough SWTOR) … it’s definitely not the best gaming community out there.

Personally I don’t really see a difference on these or other forums, it’s always the same stuff.

- Dungeon Runners (not all) are the worst. I love running dungeons in MMOs. I find them fun and exciting and rewarding. But here, Elitism rules the dungeons: You must be full zerker! You must be level 80! You must have run this path 1000 times before! You must skip everything and speedrun! And the worst one, You must have 8000+ AP! < lol what the heck does AP have to do with anything?

I don’t like them iether, but if I have to PUG I do my own LFG but I often play with friends or Guildies and I almost alway “lead” and I always get the ‘How do you want me to play?’ question and I go ‘Exactly how you want’.

- This kind of thing is far too common in this game and completely kills my joy for Dungeons. Rather than feed the Leets, I just avoid Dungeons as much as I can.

Actually my “fear” of playing with PUGs comes from other MMOs, not until I quite recently started playing with PUGs in GW2 I have started to see that it is not that bad. Elitist are in every game and if you fail in another game it is just as bad. Try play a healer in another MMO and see what happens if someone dies in your team (Even if it wasn’t your fault)

The game is ok in small doses, but it quickly loses its appeal for me because of those two reasons.

I know that it is your opinion so I am not going to say that you are wrong. But in my opinion you are playing GW2 with totaly the wrong eyes.

I have played GW2 since headstart and I am still enjoying the game. The most important part is that you should not try to see a new WoW or a WoW-clone in GW2 becouse it isn’t and it is not supposed to be. In this game there are no heavy gear threadmill or specific roles that you need for a dungeon, we still can play different roles like healer, CC, DPS and Tanky and do a good job. The popular option is though Berzerk. A game is not about to always level up and find new gear and get “stronger”, and why I choose to do “Stronger” is becouse every other MMO where you get new gear and get stronger you actually do not get stronger they only give you a reason to farm for better gear so you can compleate the new content added. In this way you are forced to farm.

Now you spoke of that this game is a grind fest? Well it sure isn’t. The Legendary for example is supposed to be Legendary it is something that will take you years to obtain, if you do not enjoy farming for it then don’t do it. Play the game and someday you will hopefully get a Precursor drop and have enough mats to craft it. I have yet to get a precursor drop but I do have all mats I need for a Legendary and I havent grinded or farmed in this game becouse I find it booring. So in this game you are never forced to farm or grind anything (Except Dungeons and fractals).

About Casual content, time has nothing to do with being a casual player.

And now to compare other MMO’s, I usually play healer classes in other MMO’s and most of them I have ended up standing at a special spot looking at all my downloaded UI stuff an healed the ones that needs it with different healing depending of need, I rarely participated in the actual combat and after playing GW2 I can’t go back to other MMO’s again as I get so boored. In GW2 I also play different types, my Guardian for example I have a full Ascended Zerker gear so I can dish out damage but for some bosses in fractals (Like Mai Trin) I change to Cleric becouse I can take alot of her damage and force her to stand in the electric fields. When I play dungeons I don’t go every man for themselfes, I give support and boons to the ones that are havy aggroed, with my guardian I even heal with all my symbols, meditations and dodgerolls even when I play berzerker. I don’t do much but I do enough help my team. Most of my classes has some way of helping my team, I think my ranger is the only one who isn’t very helpful.

Anyway, if you don’t find the game fun… Why not stop playing it? I mean I played WoW to level 59 before BC and for 3 years ago I tried the trial of the game and I played for 20min max and I just didn’t enjoy it. I have played ESO for about 2 hours and SWToR for 3 Hours becouse I didn’t enjoy them. I can’t let go of GW2 and I don’t want it to be another WoW-clone so please don’t try to change it to one.

Why do devs keep necros in this game?

I don’t see it.

My necro has 25% constant runspeed. My necro is very tanky and has five minions to confuse his enemies and to draw conditions from him and give them to him, they also heal im and they give him thougness.
He grants a small buff of healing to his team and he can chill, fear and root his escaping enemies. When my necro is in danger he can shroud himself and survive alittle longer to escape, stomp, or just hold cap for a little while longer to get help from incoming team. Not only is my necromancer sturdy but he delivers a good punch of damage also.

Now my Necromancer does not use lichform and can’t CC and one shot like Mesmers can, can’t burn you like Guardians can and he can’t Clobber the guts out of his enemies like Warriors can. But most of us here on the forums beleaves that these stuff are not inteded and will be fixed. After that I fear that my Necro build could be in the zone of a nerfing due to good survivability and good damage just like Cele Ele.

Edit:

you won’t have any luck with your revenant: slow cast times + little stability acces + little boon generaton + next to no stunbrekers = necro all over again.

Revenants are Beta at the moment and can change alot before they have the final results so making a statement like that is wierd. Though you could (if you havent allready) go to the Revenant section and Suggest to fix these things.

Serious question? What’s taking so long to make changes to mesmer and dd ele? There have been countless posts at this point with ideas on how to improve it.

Before the skill update, someone from the team mentioned there would be frequent changes since things would be unbalanced. What happened to that?

Pretty much anyone who doesn’t main a mesmer or dd ele at this point knows that they are broken.

I agree that something needs to be changed and I realy hoped for a lot of balance fixes last patch but sadly I there was only a few.

But we all have to see that Anet’s “mission” is not only to listen on the first post on the forums and go from there. They also have to inestigate to see if it realy is OP and why it is OP. After that they have to change programing to deleate, lower or add stuff and then it has to be tested and maby the test will prove that what they did was too much and then they have to repeat it all. This stuff takes time I bet.

Now not only that but before last patch there where two specializations that where way to OP and ruined game for more players than what Mesmers, Burning and Warriors are doing at the moment so they had to turn of these specializations and I think that just to be able to re-activate these Specializations they had to work 100% on these two traits. Now sadly we will have to wait to next teuseday to get another Balance fix and I would be supriced if Warrior, Burning, Cele Ele and Mesmers are not looked at.

Well we can only see, but Patch day are at teusedays and these balance fixes are a little harder to fix to be able to fit in a emergency patch.

I have no facts, this is only what I beleave.

If I remember correctly… Dimond Skin came after Anet nerfed Engineers trait to resist conditions made to them when HP was lower than 20% something like that.
Already when they introduces Dimond Skin I started to wonder why they nerfed engineers and gave elementalist the same buff that engis had before. People complained about Engineers trait then and well for me Dimond Skin has been a bother for a long time. For Engineers now that Specialization has totaly vanished I think but I think that after the nerf the trait was like when HP is below treshold all conditions durations on you are reduced with 50%. So why not do this for Eles to? When HP is above treshold condition duration on you are reduced with 50%?

I disagree with the OP.

Glass cannons drop fast as they should. More bunker type classes can stay along for a really long time. Look at all the complains about dd ele.

Ahahaha! This one was fun!

Don’t compaire a Cele Ele with any other “tanky” class! Cele Ele is the only class after the patch that can “tank” anything. It’s like saying bug 1 can handle bug 2, if you wanna be tanky play bug 1.
I have tried a PVT – With Dolyak rune Engineer with mostly only CC skills and I got almost one shotted by a mesmer from stealth, if I didn’t have my Elixir S trait I would have died. I treid to get away to heal up but as soon as my skill was over I died. Now, let’s see a PVT- Dolyak rune anything should be able to survive for more than what OP says 0.5 seconds. Sadly I have no recorded evidence but going with other stuff than marauder or zerker is good to survive a little extra but builds that uses the “one-shot” mechanics still kills you in 0.5 seconds. PvP is totaly broken and it is far from as fun as before the patch in my opinion.

Since the last patch everyone have been realy strong and everything dies so easy and… well PvP is totaly busted with one-shot builds in my opinion.

Now during last weekends bonus beta, people complained about Revenant zerker was weaker than any tanky traited other class zerker…

My suggestion is this, don’t boost revenant too much but rather nerf damage on all other classes. And since nothing seems to be done about the recent DPS increase now I do hope it will get a review for the Expansion atleast.

I also have all classes and I am playing them all (Not at the same time ofc :P)

For example with my engineer I was very fund of playing my Bomb kit engineer, as it is now she get’s nuked and splattered in 2 secs even with Carrion amulet and Dolyak rune. Getting “one-shotted” by a stealthed mesmer, rampage Warrior, wierd thief, Guardian with deadly DPS and Fire damage. Also outside of one-shotting we the elementalists that is almost impossible to kill becouse of condi cleanse + heals and still they do massive damage.

I was so happy to hear about the grenade trait fix, I was happy becouse of the fix and I hope there will be a fix to all other “one-shots”. Why? yes Becouse I wan’t more deversity, I don’t want to play a warrior running Rampage, I don’t wanna play an Engineer with a bugged trait (As it was before), I don’t wanna play a Shatter mesmer with same traits as everyone else, I don’t wanna do exacty like everyone else.

When people complain about inbalance between classes they do not complain about a class in a whole, they complain about a specific build (Most of the time). In my opinion when one build is better than anything else and everyone plays it or has to play it to have a chance of winning then the game is not balanced.

8 Elementalist Really doesn’t need buffing

If Anet listened to this I would quit PvP for good. No darn class needs a buff, as I have said before most classes has a “one-shot” build and if Anet where to be buffing them more there would only be one-shots. It would be like playing Snipers in an FPS at an open field, the one who finds an enemy and shoot firsts wins. Thats almost how the game is now.

Just had a “fight” with a warrior and well this is sick.

I was at mid point and had taken it, I was waiting for my team to win their fight at home, so there was this warrior at far I thought as we have two points I am not gonna risk getting there and get to much on me so I just stand there to wait for this warrior to do something becouse he looses alot of points just standing there. Then suddenly he starts to move and goes rampage and well he just spams his attacks and I have learned one or two to fight rampage dudes now but well I lost… No matter… Warriors can’t even play their class without rampager anymore. They rather stay and loose points while they wait on Rampage CD. Stupid auto-win mechanic so as long this isn’t nerfed somehow my list will have Warrior on top. But still most all classes has something seriusly broken so my list is like.

1. Warrior.
2. The rest.

I came across my first rampage warrior when I came to +1 my ally.

The Warrior was at 20% health so I though it was going to be a brain dead easy fight. What I didn’t expect, was a burst of damage. I some how went to half health instantly, It was so fast that I panicly used my medi stunbreak heals and turned my camera angle around to look for a Thief… until I realized it was the Warrior. I thought it was op until I realized he was zerkers himself.

There are OP builds that are not easily counterable, then there are power builds with weaknesses of their own. Warriors fall in that last category.

This

Ignore Pain and similar skills completely counter rampage and warriors can’t stealth/blink so they can’t do much about it especially if it’s 1v1 unlike thieves that just stealth and come back 10sec later with their full burst always ready not a 120 cooldown wasted.
I’d rather have a good necro lich form in my team tbh

Just what I was trying to say with my OP that the new Patch is nice and I like how good more stat variations is more viable now but we have to tone down a few traits(Specializations) and skills for most classes as they make the game favor one-shot mechanics. Burning is a little too good, Rampage is more or less a free kill since you will kill another player who happens to be unaware. I do want that a player that is suprice attacked will be in disadvantage but I do not favor the ‘you fail once, you die’. I want to have room for a mistake. if we don’t care for things like that why don’t we start a game where the first player reach a cap point wins? Thats fast game.

So this is not only about warriors Rampage, it is about all freakin kill in less than a second skill combos.

Another thing about this ‘You can soak up a rampage warrior’, no I can’t if I didn’t trait to soak up instakill skills (Wich again I am against for all classes). Also these are popular builds so mostly every player one-shots, so lets say if I play a Warrior and do not trait like the others, then I will die and I can’t kill them.

If I where to play a Zerker and be up against a Zerker then I can accept that I get one-shotted but lets say that I go up against a Maruader with a Cleric set then I should not get one shotted. As it is now you do get “one-shotted” (Killed from full health to 0 in less than a second).

rampage is well balanced and is in a very good spot at the moment, it is best to leave it alone, for another six months at least, before making any further unnecessary adjustments.

Well maby rampager is well balanced but it isn’t when you combine it with the specialization Heightened Focus wich gives the Warrior quickness for 4s while in rampage wich hits so hard and fast that you can not dodge or block enough to survive and if you go down to fast you will get stomped before you even can se your own downed skills.

I dunno… I can’t make a list as most classes needs a nerf… Not in a whole but a few specializations and skill damages needs good nerf. Granade barrage is getting a review now and also guards Symbol Avanger but the other classes has some neat OP spcializations like imo warriors Quickness specialization is insane togheter with rampage. Necromancers Lichform auto-attack is unreal and stupid and has been asked to be nerfed for a long long time but they didn’t nerf it, instead they increased the duration of lich form with a specialization. Well all classes has their over the top combinations and you just have to play one game to see what builds that are OP at the moment as almost everyone plays them.

I complained after the patch about how strong everyone was and then I got the advice to go something other than Zerker, so I did. That made a change and it actually made the game much more enjoyable and I decided to wait a while before I started writing a rant.

It has been a while now so here is my rant.

I like how fights are faster now and it feels like we are more usefull even when we are newbies. I like how it now gives more stats a reason to be used, but there is a problem.

Some classes are “broken” with traits, skills and a combination of them. I am not good with what some builds are called but…

Warriors Rampage is way out of line, sure it has a long CD and is an alite skill but with this massive power increase we all have got a Rampager warrior more or less has atleast one free KB on a full HP PVT heavy when activating rampage and topping that almost oneshot mechanic with quickness on the stomp is totaly wierd. And about that when Quickness was Haste wasn’t haste nerfed so that stomps didn’t speed up? If so I think you should nerf that “again”.

Elementalists that can cleanse conditions pretty much all the time and heal up and do massive fire based damage all in the same build.

Mesmers that can keep you locked down long enough to hit you with a massive amount of damage while you are stuck in one place. It is a nice build but as the damage out put over all is so high now this is one of the best free kill builds out there.

And there are a lot more but these are the ones I notice the most… And what is more booring is that almost everyone is playing these builds so when I play a match I always end up fighting these builds and I guess that is becouse these build are over the top. The sad thing is that it starts to feel like this new diversity I dreamed about is not there, play the meta builds or don’t play.

It’s not fun getting from full HP to downed in less than a second becouse I didn’t see that enemy coming in behind me. I wan’t some room fore mistakes, if I got attacked from behind my enemy should ofc have the advantage but I should not get downed just like that. I have also noticed that many players aim for one shots, if they fail they retreat and wait for CD and tries again.

So in my opinion I hope Anet swings around a big Nerf hammer on almost all classes becouse PvP is not fun at all anymore and there is no Diversity, play meta or die.

^ I still don’t see how the addition of optional bars would prevent you from playing that way.

At the same time, people who prefer another kind of information display can play their preferred way as well.

I also like that I don’t have to see a million bars and buffs flowing around…

Why I don’t like it to be optional iether is that players that use this will have the upper hand and this will force me to have this active anyway to be in par with other players who use it.

Sad End for The Engineers?

I tried a “new” build I made today… Worked fantastic in Practice and did realy well in Unranked. I only did two matches in unranked though.

I would not call me an elite player or even a very good PvP player but I rather play with my own builds than meta build. Sometimes I get laughed at, sometimes I gat hate Whispers and sometimes I rule. Anyway.

For a few weeks now I have played my Carrion Bomb Engineer and it has been so so but I never did very good with it, today I decided to try turrets. So I built myself a kinda bunker-ish Engineer with PVT and I did supricingly well. Never lost a 1 Vs 1, 2 Vs 1 was also managable depending on what classes you where up against but 3 Vs 1 was game over. I don’t think turret engi is that ruined since the Condi/crit-able turrets patch, it is still very viable and if you can place your turrets at hard to reach places you still have the upper hand and with this last patch PVT burns down mostly anything, not as fast as a Zerker or Assasin but since you can stay alive pretty much it is realy neat.

My opinion, I think there are alot of viable specializations for Engi but people havent tried them all out yet becouse most of Engi players are stuck at Granade meta.

I mean, eventually works for anything. If ascended recipes or whatever you level 80s want dropped 1000x less, you would still “eventually” get them so why would you be upset if they changed the drop rates?

I will eventually hit 80 but it won’t happen soon. I will eventually get enough points but the way the trees work, more points are required to unlock an entire tree than to have a few in each, but I am limited to 1 tree until 45, 2 until whatever, etc. And I have one largely useless tree completely unlocked for me, sitting there soaking up all the points I had made.

I will definitely unlock things before 80, but the point is this change actively increased the amount of time I have to put in to get to that point, by taking away my choice in the matter.

Your ascended comparison isn’t realy the same thing… We could actually compare with Ascended and leveling as they are now. Since the update we can now change the stats of ascended stuff but we need some things to do that. I got auto alocated traits and skills / is the same things as / I got wrong stat drop of an ascended armor. But I can level my character / is the same thing as / But I can convert the stats in the mystic forge with some stuff.

I have leveled 8 characters before the old new trait system and before level 30 I could not trait anything and after level 30 I could start putting a few points in my traitlines but it did not much until I was around level 60-ish.

I leveled 3 characters after the old new Traitsystem and I couldn’t place and nice trait lines until I was level 80 and set out to get the traits I was unsure I realy wanted. I could have bought my traits but rarely did that, only bought Grandmaster traits.

Now when the Specialization system whent active I had 2 level 22-25 characters… My elementalist had Maxed out all Earth Spceialization (Traitline) and I was like oh, this is nice, this is way better than before when I didn’t have any traits at all, and all my skills I use are also unlocked. Sweeeeeet! I havent put much time in leveling my chars now though but I have leveled the elementalist another 7 levels and done some exploring with it and now I have unlocked some new traits… Though I won’t use them yet since I can only have one Specialization atm and for now Earth will do just fine, I am still below level 30 so with the old systems I wouln’t even have traits yet.

Now I could look at it like this, if I leveled a new character I could choose a Specialization to max out instead of go with earth but then… I do level so quick and it is so darn easy that I don’t have to bother with any specializations yet anyway so why bother.

Sure it takes away some freedom from already existing characters that havent level to 80 yet, but still it is such a small part and it is better than the old systems anyway. And as you continue to level you will have the ability to choose.

I am kinda okay with it.

But GW2 is a pretty standard game, it is not too casual but it is not far to elitist iether.
I kinda compained alittle becouse they made the last Personal Story part solo-able but I do also understand it. I read some people complain about Teq being to hard now but I think it is pretty okay now. I read some people compain about that it is to hard and some people complain that it is too easy. Well I think it is so, GW2 has a standard difficulty where difficulty is driven by the playerbase and Anet is trying their best to satisfy both parties.

I don’t get all the facts but from what I have heard WoW is loosing alot becouse they have made the game way too easy and Wildstar did a crashstart becouse they aimed for Harcore only content. And again in GW2 it feels like both sides have atleast alittle of it all though the elite part is a little umm… dry.

Personally I realy hope that their challangeing content reveal is really really good.

Soloing Zhaitan

I missed the update notes about this and did it with 5-man party… I got so supriced over how easy it was and it scaled realy bad with 5 players. I did it solo after that to try it out and it was realy easy, but though I did it with my Invincible MM Necro so that not realy my best class to test if it is easy or not.

Anyhow I am gonna come up with some Pro’s and cons.

Pro’s
- I can do it solo now and don’t have to wait for a group to do the story with all my alt’s.
- It is easy and it is rather a quick run compaired to before.

Con’s
- Getting a DC in the story instance results in a restart of the instance (Happened to a freind).
- It’s to easy and that makes it no fun. In my opinion.
- It feels wheird thinking why do they have six cannons and only one “soldier” to manage them?

Ye, if you did that now I would report everyone of you. That is called Greifing and should not be supported by any game what so ever since it only supports bad community alot of aggresivness in my opinion.

Oh, hey, it’s this again.

Make it absolutely lootless and not required for any progression at all, and I’ll give it a thumbs up.

I wouldn’t, I would rather that they put dev time on something else.

lol this sounds just so wierd.

This would be so much waste of dev time and map space. First of all, a map for greifers and trolls, why? Another suggestions say that this place should have no impact on the game and will have no requirement to enter. But also suggestions say that loot shall be awarded to the once surviving or something, now how is this different to WvW I may ask? Also a map designed for OP and second post would be pointless as people would only go in there to gank and PvP, PvEers would not enter that map without a carrot and if Anet decided to have a carrot in there PvEers would rage. Also I am pretty sure that I don’t need evidence and clean facts that this kind of gameplay is wanted by a very minority part of the playerbase.

Yea that is just stupid. It’s like saying let’s boost mind stab so it does 10-17k damage and Mesmers can say L2P, just dodge. Or Boost rangers traps even more to do 10-17k damage, L2P just dodge. It’s the same with Ele Dragon’s Tooth 10-17K damage, just dodge.

I am sorry I am not playing Thief before the patch full endurence all the time and I do not like mechanics that one shot. It shouldn’t exist for no class.

This is coming from a fellow Engineer player.

Balance patch is unbalance

I was complaining like day one or two… But I have changed some of my build to compensate to this power increase.

Are you playing Celestial, Berserker or another build without Thoughness and/or Vitality? If so I advice you to play alittle more defencive. I have noticed that when I changed my Berserker Meditiation build to a Cleric Meditation looking build I started surviving living very long. With my engineer I swapped out Cele to Carrion and now I can handle 2 Vs me sometimes and survive realy long. The good thing is, since many still plays Berserker I still kill them pretty quick and easy. The new Conditions though makes it harder but it still works imo.

But I do think that Damage output in PvP and PvE is though a little to high. In PvP I rather DPS down a downed player than stabbing and in PvE well before stuff wasn’t that hard, now it’s not even remotly challenging… :P
