Guild Wars 2

Well I am not new to the game, or to PvP for that matter. But I havent play too much Condition builds in PvP in a while and today I noticed when an ele and I fought a necro … Instead of helping my fellow Ele I just made the necro more powerfull with my conditions so I ran away in the end to let them have a 1vs1 and pof the Ele won.

I want to ask now, I know some classes are made to kill some classes but I want to be able to handle a Necro like that if I happen to end up 1vs1 the necro and had to defend that point. I play a “homemade” bomb engineer and it works fantastic exept against some Eles and Necros. Any good advices?

Well while we are at it, change the colour of PoI’s too as they are realy hard to see. And merchants also btw.

My dog went in to my mothers house once… My mom has alot of cats.

We didn’t notice that my dog went inside but suddenly we hear a loud ‘Wraoorww’ a cat was pretty kittened and suddenly my dog came running out like a rocket and the cat after in full speed but stopped at the door and giving my dog a stare saying ‘And stay out!’.

Edit: usually my dog is the one chasing cats so… I guess she knew she was in over her head.

I looked forward to the change and I am impressed over how good it really is!

I get a little sad when I read statements like ‘those who think the new system is good are only PvE’ers who like to melt down bosses’ and other untrue statements.

I love the new specializations, that is what we are talking about right!? I hate that damage output (Not from conditions) in PvP is so high that even stomping is useless, I hate that I can burn down enemies like butter in PvE now but the new Specialization system is wonderfull. There are balance patches happening all the time, we have to let it sit in for awhile to even out.

I have been in a small guild before and when Guild Missions first arrived I was a little sad becouse it was almost impossible to get them and if you unlocked them they where impossible. Now I lead a pretty normal sized guild and I want to have a challangle for me and my guild. I don’t want a map made for 1-3 players where monsters are scaled up alot becouse we happens to be 70 members.

If I would have been in a small guild still I would have been overjoyed to hear that we can get a Guild Hall by only asking people for help. I am also planning of starting a mercenary team in my guild to help out small guilds.

And the thing about claiming a guild hall by our own hands it’s like… Meh… Why not make Dungeons Soloable? I mean I hate playing MMO’s with others! If you are to few, you will need to find people it is that simple. If you want to claim it by your own hands then do it, but I bet that you will have to step up your game.

I am one of those who hopes that GH claiming will be something a Guild can remeber doing for a long time, not just a whoop, smash, bang run.

have you seen what they have done to the Arah (Personal) Story now becouse of people who cant find people to play it with? Man I got so sad when I played it with 4 guildmembers yesterday.

Hmm… I would actually want Alliances as that was a nice feature in GW1.

But about this representing stuff… In my opinion it just opens up more choises for players. In my Guild we have 100% representation if you are not playing in a WvW guild at your server. Our guild is a PvX and Cross-server guild and WvW is a problem in our guild so I allow players to represent another guild while they play WvW. I have seen other guilds where they are just happy to have members and they give out officer titles to everyone so they can use the guild as they please. Dunno why but there are guild like that. There is or atleast where Guilds just to take down Teq.

But about this Alliance system, I “had” to leave my old guild becouse I got a request to lead the guild I am leading now, I am still in my old guild but I have a title as Ally. It would have been nice to have my new guild and my old guild to be able to talk to eachother and help eachother.

Well no… We got stuck over 15-20min at one part just after jumping around the tower with some nice looking water drains… In the end one in our team gave up and looked at youtube for that part But only that part since I got alittle angry with her :P

But we where a nice team of players so we had alot of clever heads

I dunno if it has been said, but thank you for this wonderfull Jumping Puzzle. A few people in my guild and I did this JP now and we compleated it in about 2 hours and it was fantastic every moment of it Well we couldn’t have made it without a few mesmers in our team but is was realy neat experience and well planned.

A beatifull and tricky JP, it was perfect. Would have been nice with a few checkpoints though for those without mesmers.

Ye, tried a more tanky build now and… well it went better… Maby when people stops playing zerker only it will be okay… I rest my case a few more days before I complain again.

You can still build sustain…:crusader, celestial, cleric, settlers ect etc, people need more map awareness, less zerging mentality. Thieves and mesmers..I find them deadly, but also less “unkillable” than before so it balances out for me.

I build for dmg..and I have dmg, I build for sustain…I have the sustain so really the balance is there, definitely is there

Well I the matches I have played Zerging seems perfect. They zerg one shot move on zerg one shot move on zerg one shot move on. If they play solo they die. There is no strategy at all. Like I can’t defend anymore. there is no use to hold a cap. I get massive conditions and one shotted. The best strategy is to do exactly like everyone else. Zerg one shot zerg one shot zerg and so on.

PvP is FUBAR. I have seen Mesmers, Thiefs and Necros more or less one-shot me over and over again. Sure I can make a one-shot build myself but no I won’t becouse I wan’t to have a fair fight. This is just stupid. Won’t play PvP until there is a fix to the high sick power output.

Why not. Basically there were two options, both with a large number of edge cases.

1) We wipe your stuff and let you respec as you see fit. Because so much had changed this was our initial plan. Here are problems it ran into.

• People return from a long hiatus and don’t remember what they were running
• People log in and the first thing they have to do before they can play is learn both the new unlocking system and the new build system.

2) We look at what you had equipped and unlock the necessary skills and traits to re-equip you. Here were some discussions points around that:

• We might give you stuff you don’t want
• at least this won’t matter for lvl 80s if we make all the unlocks possible by just reaching lvl 80.

There is a third option which I’m sure you will bring up.
3) let players choose
Here are some reasons we did not go with that:

• Its twice the work
• Its actually more than twice the work because it would have required temporarily saving both options until you choose which is more complex technical work.
• People who were unlikely to understand or want to explore the new system were going to be potentially more confused by the choice.

At the end of the day we wanted to ship this build so we had to decide. Based on instinct we erred on the side of helping people we thought would be more overwhelmed by the opposite choice, and I would make that choice again because it has less edge cases, impacts more expert users, and leans towards over unlocking for free to benefit most of the edge cases anyway.

Here’s what your system left my lvl 23-26’s with:

rangers with only wilderness survival open.
guardians with only valor open.
thief with only shadow arts open(!!!!).

basically what you are saying is ‘tough luck, sorry we screwed your character, but we didn’t think you’d be intelligent enough to distribute your own points’.

Think again. next time try asking , oh, I don’t know, maybe a nine year old what option they would rather have- pretty sure they could understand that totally gimping low level players to the extent they are better off rerolling would NOT be their choice, but it is yours…

Next time, credit your players with a little more intelligence (and the ability to use google to find how the system works if they can’t figure it out in the first ten seconds) and just reset rather than screw them over.

I appreciate you taking the time to explain the thinking behind the decision, but the logic was deeply flawed by assuming your players were basically too thick to work it out themselves.

Not entirely unrelated, get a test server (no shortage of volunteers) and test these things out before you throw them over wall like slops on to the unsuspecting peasants below.

My level 21 Ele had Earth magic Compaired to what I had before the update it is wonderfull! Why complain like it is the worst thing ever? Level 20 is not much and it’s still better than it was before the expansion, be happy and keep on leveling and you will be able to advance in your specializations at level 80 your character will be maxed out, that also better than it was before the update.

Mucho 3 maps. Judging from previous efforts for story and their interest in presenting and using the story as a selling device, I’d put my bets that it will again be sub-par. And grande features, we’ve had nothing of real substance since the release of the game, though from what has been announced, will likely be pretty decent.

Can any one tell me , if the HoT xpac is a choise for the customers (they said core game works without it) then why there isnt any core game sale at the market? I was planing to buy 2 account for my nices before HoT, now ANET forcing me to buy the HoT to play the core game. While the core game will still have the FUTURES coming with the hot, so i am not going to pay 3 small map the 150$. A friend and guildmate of mine she got Dusk from the MF twice in a row. I hava played almost everyday since headstart (Not done any MF stuff) and I have never got a precursor. My brother almost never plays GW2 but about 1 hour a week max and he looted a precursor from a Moa or something in Gendarran Fields.

Another Guildmate got an Infinite Hairstylist thingy… For me that is worth more than any Precursor.

…. I shouldn’t complain becouse I looted scarlets Kiss and Scarlets Rainbow right after eachother.

I don’t beleave in what others say but I think RNG in this game is wako, if you loot a precursor, the chances seems to be greater that you will loot another and mostly it is a duplicate. So it feels like that when you loot good stuff sometimes the lucko’meeter is stuck at ‘really lucky’!

Also, the character slots WERE expected. Anyone who played all the GW1 games will have expected it. I own and I played GW1 with all the standalone games + the expansion, I didn’t expect it… Am I not a loyal fan? I have played GW2 since headstart almost every day and I am happy that I will soon be able to be betatesting HoT and that I will be enjoying every part of GW2 atleast a few more years. Thank you Anet! I still havent bought the Pre-order but I will as soon as I got the money but I am one of those who would hav bought it anyway and I didn’t complain (That much). Wow, I have been playing since Headstart and I have never even held a Legendary in my bags… Now ok, I don’t care for a legendary but I realy hope I would loot a precursor one day :P But I havent done that iether.

I wouldn’t mind to change stats whenever I want to but I don’t want other gear than Legendary to have this perk and I will not for the love of some god farm to get my hands on a one Legendary, now to get a whole set of Legendary no way in life I would think that to freely change stats whenever I want to would be worth it. Now ascended stuff is nice, and now as we get the option to change the stats quite cheap and easy I can equip atleast 1 character with full ascended just from crap ascended in my bank (I am so glad I saved them)! I am so happy!

What if you’re running with a roaming party in WvW, A server blob is chasing you guys, and you want to swap from party chat to guild chat to say something while you running away while looking behind to the server blob? How are you going to keybind that? What if you want to type something quick in mapchat while fighting a blob? How do you even type with a joypad in the first place? If you have a 5vs5, and you want to target the ranger in the back first, how do you target him quickly? I can go on endlessly with examples. It’s just not going to work.

Not that I support the game to be played on consoles but… You know both keyboards and mouse is an options for console games too. Well atleast it did before, I dunno how it is with PS4 and Litterbox1 or what’s it is called.

My girlfriend have a hand injury and before she had her operation she couldn’t use a computer mouse and after a while using a trackball she got massive pain in her wrist. So we found this one http://www.cideko.com/images/photo/58.jpg (it is a picture of a gamepad). With that she used a 3rd party program named X-padder (as all 3rd party stuff, you won’t know if you will get banned for it). The stuff she had most problems to do with it was ground targeting skills but other than that she could enjoy the game with a gamepad. Now she have had a surgery and it went well and now she is using a Razer Naga and have no pain att all.

My final saying is this, GW2 and most MMO’s are meant to be played with Keyboard and mouse and consoles are not consoles anymore they are just computers that you cant upgrade.

It’s a nice thought… Let’s have a look at my new Guardian build that I will try out tomorrow.

The point of it all was that you and many more are crying out that they did an illegal action. Now if you all are so confident that it is illegal then stop crying about it and sue them. I asked you to show me where they lie and use false advertisment and what some of you “showed” me was from the FAQ and I do not agree with you there so I am confident that you will loose that trial if you sue Anet.

I don’t have to be a lawyer to see that it was not an illegal act from Anet. I think that some people are just trying to find more arguments to justify their unhappiness with the price and/or the call that they give a free Original Copy for new players but nothing for existing players.

I beleave that they would have earned more money if they continued to sell the Original Copy of GW2 and the expansion seperatly. But i think that in their mind they was trying to be kind to future players and give them a free copy of the original copy of GW2. Let me ask you how is a more modern look to the UI? metallic boarders and Bunnies on the map and electric currents flowing around when you open a new window? Or just a new colour scheme? A little suggestion would be nice.

As a hobby designer I do think that the Painterly stuff works well with GW2 as most of the artwork in the game has a Painterly touch. This making the UI pretty nice with the soft way it has now. The colours scheme is alittle too brown and booring though but other than that I do like the UI and I realy love that it is simple and not too much clutter.

Still I can’t and wont be able to play HoT if I do not buy it, I have GW2 and I have had it since headstart but I still won’t be able to play HoT if I do not buy it. It doesn’t change a thing even if you can’t buy the core game without HoT anymore. I will still need to buy HoT to be able to play it

I recently bought the game. I’d say it was probably less than 2 weeks before the announcement of the HoT presale announcement. Now if you bought from the actual GW2 site you can get refund if it was purchased within 60 days, and I’m glad that Arenanet does at least do that. Unfortunately I didn’t buy from the GW2 site and bought mine from a different retailer so there’s no chance for a refund. I’m sure some of you probably did the same thing I did and now are doing exactly what I’m doing, which is shaking my head and saying to myself wow I feel like I flushed money down the toilet. The price I spent around 2 weeks ago plus the 50 dollars for the new expansion(which comes with what I just purchased for free) is a pretty decent size price tag. I got the game because the FAQ stated it was needed and I knew the expansion was coming out… and to find out a short time later I could of gotten it for free with the expansion. This just didn’t leave a good impression on me at all. I highly doubt I’m going to buy the expansion because this and it’s unfortunate cause that’s why I bought the game in the first place. I chose this to invest my money and time into instead of another IP and now I’m starting to feel like it was a mistake.

On some positive notes most of the people I’ve met in the game are really friendly and helpful. I’ve heard a lot of great things about this community, it was actually a big deciding point which finally got me to get this game after all these years. I’ve been around awhile and played at least 80 online games since the start. I’ve played games that had extremely toxic communities and ones that had good ones, from what I’m told this is a good one and as I mentioned it was definitely a deciding factor in my choice to purchase the game. Unfortunately the presale announcement has brought out the worst in the community from the looks of the forums. Something has to change.. this isn’t good for the game. I don’t know how well Arenanet takes feedback from the community but I hope they are listening cause some are making valid points.

I dunno. I have done some unlucky decisions in my life. Once I bought a game for my PS1 and the day after that it was on sale. Another time I bought Star wars Galaxies and played it for less than a month and suddenly it changed to NGE, I was so sad. After that I bought DDO and less than a month later it went Free to play and I never got the money worth out of that game. Quite recently I went to a store shopping for food and happened to find a movie that I always wanted for a good discount price around 10$ so I bought it, the day after I in the same store I found another copy of that movie in a box of movies for just 3$ each. Stuff happens, I would be better of not knowing.

So there are a few views on this decision from Anet.
- They where kind enough to let non-gw2 owners get Expac for 50$ and +GW2 for free.
- They where dumb and tried to earn as much money as they could on players buying GW2 before releasing the pre-order information.
- They didn’t give venterans anything for pre-ordering and there is no free copy for players that already own GW2 just to laugh at us.

I don’t know what their intent was but I think that the first option is what their main thought was. They wanted to be kind. When they wrote the FAQ the first time they hadn’t planned out that they would release the original GW2 with the Pre-order but now they know so they had to change the FAQ to fit in to how the events have turned out. It is after all an FAQ not a Licence Agreement or a Testement or something like that.

I am sure that they do listen too us but I beleave that they can’t just change the offers they have, maby there will be more offers in a week or two or maby they will add something to the 3 different offers but I can’t imagine that they can change the offers becouse alot of player have actually allready bought the pre-orders. Or maby nothing will be done, still doesn’t mean that they don’t listen… It means that their sales are doing good and they don’t have to change it. We are only a few out of many players.

If I did run a bussiness and I would hope to b able to sell something I would choose a price that would make my merchendice sell and also be a profit for me. This Banana of yours is it special or why does it cost so mutch? I would rather go to another trader and buy a banan than buy it from you. This is my choice. Now if you think that the expac isn’t worth 50$ don’t buy it, it is your choice. Now if you realy REALY wanna play GW2:HoT you might be concidering buying it? Well it is still your choice. In the end if you think that Anet made a bad move, well don’t buy it. It is their loss. But what if people are actually okay with 50$? Well it’s their win.

I think 50$ is overpirced but I really want the expac and the Betatests so I will pay for it, my partner though, she will wait for the release and hope that it will be cheaper by then, since she is in no rush.

As much as I love the picture of the sad little asura being comforted by the charr, and as much as it makes my heart go out to that sad little asura, it could just as easily — and meaningfully — show the asura, representing the players, holding a copy of HoT (artistic license, as there is no physical copy), with the charr (stick on some dark glasses) representing anet (the company), holding up two fingers behind the asura’s head.

Well it is a nice and maby could be a true picture as the Charr would reprecent Anet… Well in this case next picture would be of the Asura, the Charr and a Skritt that happens to be working for the Charr. The Asura in this picture has turned around punching the Skritt in the nuts.

1. Coming patch, it sounds wonderfull and I can’t wait to try out new builds for all my classes. I am happy that I have a few low-level characters that I will deleate and re-level to try out the new Specialization system from scratch. Condition damage sounds like a wonderfull fix and I have waited so long for this update! Atlast (I hope) my Carrion characters can be used to their fullest. Also I can’t wait to see how nice Lions Arch will be! Wonderfull stuff Anet!

2. Guild Halls, wow it feels like this will be almost 90% of the content of HoT but that doesn’t mean that the rest of the content is small content. I mean I was almost okay with Guild Halls just being a little home where we could gather and do small stuff together. This though sound million times better and I am sooooo looking farward to take my guild out to maguma to get us a Guild Hall! For every blogpost I read about it I am starting to drool even more. Amazing stuff Anet!

3. Pre-purchase expansion pack, I am going to start to say as alot do say here… It feels very overprized. Also I wanted a collectors edition, I wanted a figurine or pins like we got from nightfall… Well anyway, I just don’t see some digital fluff being worth €74,99 so I will be buying the Standard one and my partner wont even pre-order.
I have also talked to my guild about this and well most of them has already bought their editions, some have even bought the Ultimate edition (I envy them to be able to afford it) and some will wait till the release and hope it will be cheaper by then.
Anyway, it is hard to say if it is worth it or not but as good as this game is I doubt that it isn’t worth alot of cash. I beleave that this Expansion is one really big expansion after all. A bit expensive for my taste but I can’t say it is not worth it.

If you want you can disagree with me it is okay, but I was thinking we could gather a little “list” of what we think about the latest news we have got this last week. It has been much and just as this one all posts are piling up in a big mess where people argue back and forth about their opinions and people seem to think that they can convince eachother to think like them. They said it was in the livestream. What was once old is now new again.

Which brings up another question for me; Other than this, are there any other changes that have been made that are not on the list? Specifically, I’m thinking of several changes mentioned in the first specialization livestream that are not showing up in the new list, like Consecration skills becoming ground-targeted and Engineer Pistol 1 and Rifle 5 becoming explosives for the purpose of traits. Did you decide to scrap them, or have they become so natural that you just forgot that you’re only making the change live this patch?

That’s bad… I mean it’s not even logic to call it a trap… Well if they add an effect against enemies when they trigger it it should be a trap but as it is atm it’s not a trap. They should see the differens between a trap and a spring :P

Worried ranger here is spirits duration changed itsbind increased to 8 sec imply that spirits only have 8 sec life time ???? and what happened necromancer change they get more viable in groups i dont see anything why i should take necro to groups they are same as ever only dmg nothing else to group. far as i remember u saying necros should get some support skills so they wont be left out of groups but far as i can see necros are still all same only thing they bring is dps. what every1 can do, but other classes bring other nice buffs which increase dmg output of whole group. My own opinion that rangers skirmish is traits are pretty wild like old1 there is like sword trait strider def which got lot of nerf since i last time saw thorns ver of it and its in middle of skirmish tree which i can only see condi trait tree for ranger = again there is power type things in condi tree which was huge problem in old trait trees.

I usually don’t have a problem with having a necro in my party… Don’t se that problem. But as I see it, necro will get more healing potence to allies and also will be able to rez downed players in or going out of Shroud. Also wells will always be cast where you want it. Sounds like Necro will be a pretty good team player if you ask me.

Our granades are reduced to 900 range and we’re losing deployable turrets? Say it isn’t so! Engis were the best class to take out siege in WvW by far.

I mean, I generally like a lot of the changes engis are getting, so I’m sure I’ll adapt, but man… I liked kittening off people on the walls.

Prepare to change the way you play. Find another way… Try the new improved Elite skill and wait and see what the Elite specialization brings us.

My recent thief build is taking an arrow to the knee because i either have to select deadly arts (which i don’t care about) for traps, or go balls to the wall into shadow arts (which i really just want for condi cleanse on stealth).

Or you could actually make a new build and balance it after all the changes that happens to all classes My guard buil, my engi build, my Mesmer build, my Ranger build and my Thief build will go down the drain… But I do not sulk for that becouse I have the chance to find a new build to learn and be good at and I get the chance to really try out the new system. I am so tired of all these meta builds in PvP, it’s good to have a little new air to the game. And hopefully with this change there won’t be a solid meta (One can only hope).

But… Warrior seems pretty loved by the devs… Realy, do I have to ask for a Healing signet “nerf”. Coming from a meta Shoutbow warrior.

Aww… It seems that my Guardian build is nerfed to oblivion. But I am still happy becouse I am sure these changes will throw around every meta there is now and hopefully this will result in more varied playstyles! It looks like it atleast!

My Engi is nerfed too but I think I have thought of new builds for her This is so awesome!

Actually there is a good reason to do map completion before the patch. You will get bonus skill points for each skill challenge. After the patch they will be turned into spirit shards in addition to your world completion progress giving you hero points.

But that means you only need to do skill challenges before the patch. The rest can wait.

Not sure if that is correct… Not saying your wrong but how I understands it is that all Skill challenges and the Skill points earned from them will be converted to hero points. The Skill points earned from leveling after 80 and the Scrolls of Knowlage will be Spirit shards. So doing Skill challanges before or after the update will have the same result in the end.

It’s fine, 250 gems isn’t really all too much to get in game or even to buy. The only greedy thing is the exclusive hairstyles only available via hair style kit. Just add those to the character creation already!

Which would mean that new people and new chars would get the exclusive hairstyles and faces for free but veterans with old chars would have to pay. If you don’t think that would cause massive whining in the forums then you don’t know the forums.

Yeah, kinda. But people usually accept to pay for a reskin of their character.

Though when something change and makes an unfair “advantage” there will be whining. I would be vary angry with their decision, maby not complain on the forums though. Anyway, I have bought a few Total Makeover kits just to get the exclusive stuff for my new characters.
