Seriously like how many times do we have to see these kinds of post? Don’t you guys ever learn to JUST POST YOUR OWN LFG can it really be that hard? I don’t get it to me it seems like people just want to get carried over. And if you don’t fill the req the post ask for don’t join it.
It just seems like people are so kitten bored in the game they have to complain about every single detail and instead they could just go and workout or do something else.
And even if you are a new player it really can’t be that hard to take initative on your own and actually search on wiki or the forums what zerker means etc. since the game been out for over 2 years.
people are just lazy
Please read my OP once again and my next post in this thread, you are so way of.
And I am not bored of this game, I am one that some call White Knight or Fanboy so no I do not complain at the game and the mechanic of the LFG. I complain about that many players makes the LFG a toxic experience for new players as they learn that when you do dungeons you have to be level 80 with full exotic berserker gear or you get kicked. I do not bother to use LFG becouse I do not like PUGs but I have alot of new players in my guild that have been playing or rather tried playing with PUGs in the LFG and gotten kicked right away. Some of these players are realy realy good so I for one can’t understand.
But I have gotten alot of good replies and I do see it more clearly but still… Some talk about they pull this and that and it ends to a whipe and they are realy bad and so on. Well ‘stuff happens’. But I can’t change this. But I will try to “save” these new players I manage to get in touch with.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
Thats down to lack of knowledge and experience on both sides.
Pugs want smooth runs and many have had bad experiences and so filter out those.
for example I have never had a smooth run ( in the past 6 months) with 2 warriors in the party, so i actively object to that situation. Can’t blame pugs for doing the same really.
People don’t want stressful runs.I suspect this suggestion might be something you’d go and + 1 though.
Thank you! yes this one I did like!
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
Teach them not to join the toxic elitist lfgs and instead to make their own “everyone is welcome” parties.
This is what I do though and also I take them under my wing
Though the point of this thread was to say that there is so many ‘I play dungeons not to have fun but only to farm’ out there and that so many new players adept to this toxic behavior that it even makes some new players only gear for Zerker and deleate their Necromancer and think this is the only way to enjoy the game. In the end people do think that it is impossible to play dungeons if you are not level 80 and if you are a Necro or ranger. I have had some people tell me ’ Sorry I can’t join I don’t have level 80 zerker gear yet’. New players do not understand why they get kicked even when they join -LFG part2- groups so they ask and the answer is ‘T low level’, ‘No Minions’ or ‘Longbows are a joke’ and so on. It tells them, play this way or get kicked.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
For me it was a long time since I pugged but I have recently picked up the role of a Guild Leader and a few members (New Players) have asked me ‘how to find a group in the LFG’ They claim that every group they try to join they get kicked becouse they are Necromancers, Ranger or are to low level (Not level 80 but level enough for the dungeon). My answer is PUG’s are stupid and thinks they are playing WoW where there has to be a perfect group or there is no way to finnish a dungeon. So to show some of my members I started to run a few Dungeons with low-levels and all Necro MM’s and we managed all Explorer dungeons we tried without a single wipe.
In short, new players playing low-level Minion Masters accept me who is a veteran and level 80 managed to conquer all dungeons… Why this pickyness even if you do not look for a speed run?

I would like to tell everyone who says NPE sucks and it has dumbed down the game. Well yes as Vaughn said it is made so new players do not get an overcharge of icons. It is made to slow but sure learn the basics of the game. I think that the NPE is realy good and has been a good boost to the playerbase who havent played MMO’s before or even games for that matter. It is not that troublesome for us who have played our whole life iether, vistas for example is unlocked at level 10, that is what? about an hour of gameplay if not less? What is all the fuzz about? I realy do like the NPE since it feels so much more meaningfull to level now and there is more Tasks and more small chest to find and rewards. Some tasks has been made less pointless like the one with Jotuns that you had to trade stuff with. Many says that the new Trait-unlock system is NPE but it is not, if it where I would have said that that is the part with the NPE i do not like.
Anyway, about the point of this thread and what Necromancer Apocalypse Ant.1926 said. When these scarlet invasions where happening during Season 1 my main character couldn’t see where the bosses where but my other characters could and also my Girlfriend could se them. So what Apocalypse Ant.1926 is experiencing is it realy becouse of this NPE thing? I mean Apocalypse Ant.1926 is saying it was fine a year ago, would he have been level 10 by now? But what do I know
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
Yes, from a new player perspective, guild wars 2 is really fun, I was like that too.
But, you will find out that gw2 isn’t that much better than any MMO.
Says this guy^
But this guy (Me) says ‘I have played GW2 since headstart and I am still a fan of this game and I can not stop enjoying it and I can not get back to the other MMOrpg’s without getting frustraited over Quests and stupid race to get to Harvesting nodes and tag an Enemy before another player’.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
- Cumulative damage
- Combo fields.
- No trinity (Do not mean it is a bad thing, I love that there is no trinity).
- Block and reflect.
About crafting, I find GW2 crafting easy and fast to learn compaired to other MMO’s.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
At the Release notes it says ‘Account magic find affects the envelopes’ in the game it says ‘Magic find affects the envelopes’. The recent two days I have been putting up banners, eaten food and used magic find buffs to give me better chance to get the good stuff- Just recently I have a talk on mapchat and I find out about the announcement at the Release notes. Well I read the Release notes I will truthfully say but I didn’t remember everything it said there, but anyhow not everyone reads the release notes and people beleave the game when it says ‘Magic find affects the Envelopes’.
I would like an ingame text to tell us the truth so we do not waste food, buffs and guild flags and what more to boost our chances in vane.

This is my Mesmer I really succeded in making this character realy cool and I have got many Whispers proving that too. Hehe I am so proud!

I don’t like the clipping i see posted and I am going to get me this wonderful outfit as soon as I get my salary.
But I am trying to think for ways to fix this clipping… I can’t think of anyway to fix it for like long hair characters. I mean I choose not to have too longhair with my characters since they always clip in some ways. Long hair is a bother :P Big hair too (In this case).
So once again, how would you fix the clipping?
It’s easy to complain.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
3800 hours I think it was… And no Prec…
My brother about 300 Hours and 1 Prec.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
Well… in my opinion most changes seems to have been done with a good reason and in the end a good sign that they listen to their playerbase… I guess.
But why did they scrap all the Lore? I mean the lorebook feature looks awesome and that there where lore about the place you go to at the loading screen is rather wonderfull. I do like lore but when they put in Lore in a single dialog box here and there makes me boored and I tend to skip them becouse it’s too much of a read for me. But having the lore at loading screens or as a rewievable content makes it so I will read it sooner or later.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
I don’t think it would work they way you would like in GW2.
I would rather have more content for whole guilds to do like bountys… Like more and bigger bountys… Like WorldBoss bountys. A race in a miniDungeon and at the end there is a bounty boss that has to be killed. Mix guild activites a JP a Rush and end with a bounty.
Haha I just got a silly Idea, how about a real raid!? I mean you can choose option with the guild to start a real raid and when you do this will scale 1 dungeon of a choice alot and then you have (lets say) five-ten minutes to compleate this dungeon and during this time up to 50 guild members can enter the same dungeon and raid it, totaly Zerg it… Not less not more loot, enemies or traps than usuall, only scaled so they don’t die to fast and the hard thing should be to compleate it in time. That’s a raid!

Let’s see if I got this right…
First of all, I have truly never realy mastered Elementalist becouse I can’t realy atunement dance that good. I am good with elementalist but there is so much I miss to be realy effective. So I will say that Elementalist is one of the hardest classes to master but you don’t have to attunment dance to be a good Elementalist.
In my opinion, Combat engine in this game is the best ever and I am a real fan of it. I think that this engine gives GW2 a life that is realy missing from other MMOrpg’s where fights are usually stale and booring. The only gripe (Is that the word “gripe”?) I have with it is the target system, I hate that when targets get of screen I sometimes loose target or sometimes I just drop target without reason (I have tried every target option, it still happens) and that you can’t target nearest enemy if it out of screen and big bosses target box is so high up that if you are to close you have to pan camera up to be able to use Target Nearest enemy.
Also as Vayne says, a mouse with some extra buttons is nice. I got my F1, F2 and 9 skills on my mouse (Do not have a gaming mouse) and it helps alot.
And… I am not that used to FPS so I am not sure why I doing this but when I play I do not like to use the scroll weel to switch weapons I do like to press a button to choose correct weapon. In some FPS I have played buttons are.
1, 2, 3 ,4 , 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0, W, A, S, D, Q, E, Mouse 1, Mouse 2, Mouse X, F, G, Space, Shift, C, Z I can’t remember more but this to play efficiently with Jump, Walk, Strafe, Crouching, Crawling, Look over corners, Throw Granades, Use devises, Sprinting, Fire/Shooting, change weapons, Zooming with scoopes and secondary fire.
In GW2
1, 2, 3 ,4 , 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0, W, A, S, D, Mouse 1, Mouse 2, F ,Space, F1, F2, F3, F4. What I can remember. This to play efficiently with; Move, Jump, using skills, Move camera, Move character+Camera, dodge, use Devices.
In both types of games you can keybind the keys however you want so it fits your playstile. I don’t think GW has to many buttons, atleast not if we compare to other MMOrpg’s atleast.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
Let me start off by saying I love this game, so take everything that I say with that in mind.
The problem has very little to do with the “trinity” system, and everything to do with the content not matching the class design, and general lack of difficulty. The classes are designed quite well for the most part, with each class being able to fulfill every roll in some respect. However, the tasks that the game asks us to perform don’t really require a particularly nuanced or multi-faceted approach. With the exception of “stop skritt from stealing X” events, crowd control is almost completely unnecessary in PvE. The “support” role ends up being just stacking buffs, and as numerous people have said, at the end of the day damage takes the field. What we need is encounters where control of the battlefield is ABSOLUTELY necessary, and where the wrong buffs (or poorly timed ones) result in failure. And healing becomes irrelevant because no matter how many points you put into it, you can never be particularly effective compared to the damage done by powerful enemies, and more importantly, that damage is incredibly easy to avoid just by being on your toes as a player. (i.e. You don’t need to heal damage you don’t take) However, I maintain that what we really need back is the wipe. It’s SO difficult to fail in Guild Wars 2. Even if you’re playing with inexperienced, poorly equipped people, a dungeon encounter can be kittened up numerous times until you get the hang of it, because you respawn 8 feet from where you just died with an imperceptible amount of armor damage. And don’t even get me started at the mindlessness of the personal story encounters. Sure, you can fail at Tequatl or jungle worm, but there are no consequences. You say “oh well, there went 20 minutes,” and go about your way. Moreover, the solution to every problem is overwhelming force, because the imposed challenge is always time. The epic scale of events is cool, so I’m not saying get rid of all the people, just find a way to mitigate our numbers, so that the solution isn’t always “need more people at red!!” That for me has always been the worst part of this game. Combat in PvE just isn’t terribly interesting because it’s so easy. It’s nice to be on the edge of your seat every once in a while. Now there are ways to manufacture a challenge to make use of your non-zerker gear, like soloing fractals. But this often ends up just being LONGER, not MORE DIFFICULT, and the rewards are less, not more. So yes, you don’t need zerker gear, but if you don’t have it, you’re basically just making killing monsters more time-consuming for yourself with no payoff.
Recent enemies and bosses in this game has been realy improved for boonplay, cc and damage, It isn’t just stack up that much anymore. Sure we still stack in masses but some monsters do insane damage to stacked masses and it is realy bad to stack but alot of players havent realized this yet so they stay to the old mentality and stack and a full group dies at the same time. And some bosses force you to stack atleast for a moment. Since the Season 2 in my opinion fights have started to be more interesting and not just zerg and kill. Just becouse most players does this still doesn’t mean it is the best way anymore.
And on to topic, trinity or not… I have played alot of MMOrpg’s and they all have had trinity and with GW2 I am so happy that I can play exactly how I want now I even have an armor set for my guardian to give support and healing if I want to do that.
And oh, btw this healer guardian of mine is wonderfull I can keep a 4-DPS party alive even if they are bad at dodging.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
One of my guildmembers asked me a day ago ‘How do I join a group in the LFG? Everytime I join for a dungeon I get kicked’ I noticed he was level 37 and wanted to join a AC Explorer… I told him ’PUG’s are stupid’ and I gathered a group from our guild and we did one AC explorer in 20 min with Level 80 Guardian, a Level 36 Engineer, a Level 80 Necro (MM at that), Level 37 Ranger and a level 60 Guardian. People have got some things so wrong about this game that it is frightning… But my advice is, join a kind guild that is not all about farming and doing speedruns and stuff and you can be whatever class you want to be. In my opinion no class is so bad that it does not deserve a spot in a group. What can ruin a run is a bad player but even so it wouldn’t hinder you from joining a group. Me for example I rather have new players than Elite players in my groups.

As I am a fan of both Zelda and Metroid that Article made me soo happy ^^
I really hope they can make/made it alot like Zelda and Metroid!
I think there really is a reason to why I can’t stop playing GW2
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
Personal thought:
1st: I have 11 level 20 scrolls and, 79 level up scrolls (I used 60 before that to try and earn some money at it, wasnt that good) so I do not really need it.
2nd: If Revenant starts at level 1 (Wich I hope and guess) I would level it from scratch so I can learn the class from A to O.
Lore-wise it could work with a level 80-class that Unlocks once you get an old class to level 80 but as level in this game (IMO) is meant to be as a tutorial I think it is a ver stupid move.
I’ll take over from O-Z
lol thanks I am a what some may call casual player so I will probably only get to O before there is a new update
Actually I dunno what I though… It was like from Alpha to Omega :P
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
I like that Article, it is alot of what I always wanted to say.
But I think Anet have succeded pretty good with not having the Usual Endgame content. Yesterday I wrote in a topic about endgame content where some say that End game content sucks in GW2 and some says there is so little End game content in the game and it is repetative. When I hear that I start to wonder what End game content really is and what it is in other games since they are few and repetative in GW2 so that must mean there are more and non-repetative end game content in other MMO’s.
Well I always thought that The final dungeons for every expansion was the end game content and that it was about to farm it over and over again to get the best gear… That sounds like little End Game content and very repetative. So enlighten me pls.
HoT looks amazing and I’m really looking forward to it but it’s geared towards max lvl which is fine the story has to advance and putting it at a lower level wouldn’t make any sense whatsoever.
But it reinforces the “endgame mentality” of rushing to lvl 80 and ignoring lower lvl content. For the longevity of the game lower lvl areas/content should be updated in a lasting way to increase the considerably substantial replay value alot of it already has and more low to mid lvl accessible content has to be added.
For it to be truly lasting in my opinion it should be removed (not completely) from the living story going forward but given more consideration for it’s own merit.
I could have dreamed it and I don’t have time to brows through everything said about HoT atm. But I have a fealing I read somewhere that they said that alot of the Expac content will have effect on the old maps aswell… Hmmm… I think it was about collections. We don’t know everything that will come maby there will be more less interesting content for the old zones. But even so I think people with this End Game mentality will rush to the end anyway. I have friends who did it when GW2 released, they leveled to level 80 in about a week and then they said ‘What now?’ and quit. They didn’t try jumping puzzles, WvW, PvP, any Explorer dungeon they only did Story dungeons, they didn’t even finnish the personal story. I was self new at that moment so I couldnt tell them What now, I was only level 35 and exploring the world.

End game in this game could be:
Living Story (Lvl 80)
Explorer Dungeons (Lvl 80)
fractals (Lvl 80)
WvW (Lvl 80)
Achievement points
Collections (Lvl 80)
Cosmetics
World bosses (most Lvl 80)
and more…Sadly there hasn’t been and updates to Dungeons, fractals and WvW for a while and the so called End Game content has been old and booring and thats it.
Call it Stuff, content or End game content it is still stuff to do once you hit level 80. I do not call it End Game content becouse it is not the end of the game. GW2 is evergrowing and it never ends, I see no end in this tunnel.1)living story, basically endgame story, true, but the experience isnt very compelling to me.
2)only the last two explorable dungeons, and the twilight path make full use of your abilities, all the rest can be done before 80.
3)fractals, definately endgame, but still fairly shallow, too many repitions per difficulty increase. you dont really have to beat it 30 times to be ready for level 30
4)WvW definately endgame, but its a very specific market, those who like massive multiplayer PVP (zerg versus zerg)
5)Achievements, i wouldnt call this endgame, its mostly just repetions, aside from like jump puzzles, and mini dungeons. (kill 1000 rats, is an achievement, but its not an endgame)
6)collections guess this is endgame for collectors,
7)cosmetics is basically same as collections
8)world bosses, are not really endgame, most of them require no skills other than showing up.all in all i would say that list could be cut to,
wvw
fractals
collecting/cosmeticsmain problem is other than collecting/cosmetics, WvW and fractals are fairly shallow. in the first couple weeks of WvW, you probably experienced most of it. fractals, likewise.
cosmetics is pretty large, but the method of obtaining most cosmetics is very poor/grindy, so it doesnt enhance the game much.
Still… I don’t count it as end game… I count it as content and I like it, well most of it, not all of it. I have enjoyed GW2 since release so you and me are way to different but also I do not do the stuff over and over again. I do a little here and a little there and some stuff there and maby some day I go back there with some new ppl and do it again and then I do something there… And you may think LS is shallow, I think it is wonderfull and I cant wait to see the next part of the story. But what is most important is that I do not see any part in this game as End game.
So by looking at the game with another view this game could be more enjoyable than, what can I do once I reach level 80?
I havent gotten to much end game content in that many other MMO’s but the one I played before GW2 had endgame content and it was do 4 mini dungeons (More like 4 bosses) to unlock the big dungeon (More like a bigger boss) once a week and beat him and pray that you are lucky and get the loot you need. If you didn’t get it, repeat. If you got it repeat again to get another one to get the next part of the armor and repeat. Me and my guild did this for once a week for over 4 months… That was to get a good armor so I could go out in PvP to be good enough to make any difference. It was so little content compaired to what GW2 has to offer me.
So I will ask again ‘What is Endgame Content?’

GW2 is evergrowing and it never ends, I see no end in this tunnel. So the endgame is a endless repetition of Dungeon/Fractals/World Bosses and more.. while collecting collections in order to unlock some Cosmetics that grant Achievement points upon finishing the Living Story for the sake of distracting you from the endless Gold Grind to buy some more Cosmetics.
I dunno what end game content is but thats what I beleave it is… Please tell me how does end game content work? what is it in other games?
Edit:
Oh, btw… Gold grind? I havent grinded/Farmed any gold in this game since I started playing at headstart. Compaired to other MMO’s where I have been forced to farm the last dungeon over and over again to get the best gear to be usefull in PvP.
I have enjoyed GW2 since day 1 and still enjoy it, I do not farm or grind becouse I do not like it, I only do the stuff I like to do and I play with friends to make the game even more entertaining.

Okey, so most of you don’t agree with my expectations. But is it no one other than me that expected more? Did none of you have any expectations for the expansion? We haven’t got any information about the scale of the new areas or the story so we just have to wait and see about that. But come on something did you expect that wasn’t in the announcement, or?
I am pretty sure that this expac is enough for me.
When we all started to hype about an Expac I expected;
- A new race.
- A new Class.
- A new map (With 3-5 zones).
- A full story arc.
- A few new skills.
- Precursor something.
- Feature updates.
This is what more I know we got;
- Specialisation.
- Masteries.
- Hanggliding.
This is what we don’t know of what I wished for;
- A new race. (Probably not)
I am pretty happy with the Expac so far, but also I know this is not all. There is more to come so I will not say yay or nay until I know more but at the moment if I have to say yay or nay I would go Yay!
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
My opinion on OP’s points.
A new race:
We don’t know yet but probably no. My GF kinda agrees with you but a new race would more or less only give you a little story about the race start and a new skin on your character and probably more dev-time to fix clipping or alot of threads about devs not fixing clipping bugs.
I don’t mind a new race but I rather have alot of other stuff than a new race.
Support class like monk:
First, I dunno if my reading comprehension is good enough but I thouth it was said that ranger was going to specialize to be a druid that might be more of a healing class.
Second, as this game is not in the Trinity system a solid healing class would ruin this I beleave. I personaly give a rats as what others think about how I should play but I have a Build on my guardian that is more a monk than a guardian. I use Healing, power ,Vitality stats I beleave on my guardian and I keep my party alive pretty much with that build. It’s not a perfect build as I would probably ruin a run for Zerkers but I don’t play with them as they wont play with me but to the point, I have a healing class.
Quests:
No, just no… I can’t go back to other MMORPG’s now as the quests makes them so darn booring. I can’t stand them now.
Player Housing:
We have our home instances and we might maby in the future be able to have our home there. It’s never too late but it is too early imo.
Heroes:
I can’t figure out a way how that would work and for me it would ruin alot if we had them in dungeons.
Templates:
This is something I would realy want, just like in GW1.
More weapons/ Skills:
Not saying no too this but we don’t know if we will not get more skills or even weapons for that matter. As many others have said, all classes will get a new weapons to use with specialisation so there will be new skills.
Less of an RNG Simulator:
I just don’t mind RNG, it works fine… I have never ever got a precursor as a drop and I have played since headstart and my brother has got one and he player one hour a week since headstart. But still I don’t mind it, someday I will be lucky… Oh wait I have been as I got Scarlets Kiss and the other scarlets something, I don’t remember that name.
A third person camera that work, first person view and ui changes:
Think it has something to do with PvP and making stuff uneven.
New dungeons and/or raids:
Dunno anything about this yet.
Mounts:
NO! Buy a magic carpet and you can experience the world on a mount.
The Market:
TP works wonders, I realy love the TP.
Mods:
NO! Don’t ruin this game!
New crafting:
Meh… What would that be? I can’t think of any crafting that would be needed.
Map Queuing:
So you would rather see a ‘You are in Queue 439’? It would make the server less populated. How would they make the queue go down? What would have been better would maby be to make a cap for solo players and a special cap for guild players. I dunno… But why should I think about this, I am not the one with this problem… Yet.
More than one specialization:
Even though there will only be one on release of expac it is still a gateway to something bigger. After this expansion Anet can release new specializations for classes wihtout an Expansion and give use more content to aim for and more to do during these living story updates and more.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
Even if they made this happen those who realy afk-leech will manage to afk-leech anyway. I do lots of Hotjoin PvP and I sometimes see players running in a wall during a long time of the match. And some players are not realy afk but they sure don’t care about winning so they just run around or standing for one minute and move and back to afk’ing again. There is always a way to leech.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
We’re all just skimming over the most important part of this post… which is that “Dracula” currently has an 80-hour work week~!!!
I have a freind with the same tight scedule, we play two hours almost every weekend together. I think even Dracula can be able to log in once every two weeks if the free content stuff was the problem. Also S/he could also keep a look out for news about the game every now and then if s/he realy is interested in the game to start with.
So for Dracula this should be good news and I should say Welcome back m8, do not worry more about Temporary content cuz it is GW2 history… And as there is no level cap increase for the Expansion I would say that GW2 is maby the best MMOrpg you could play with a 70-80Hours work scedule.

Something that has kept me from playing GW2 over the last year has been the removal of non-permanent content. I work 70-80 hour weeks so it often is difficult to finish content for the rewards. Missing the rewards and achievement points sucks. Will this be a part of Heart of Thorns? Like a ‘launch only event’? Stuff like that.
I am sorry to laugh but you should have kept an eye on the game after you left…
The whole season 2 has been permanent and all latest content has had permanent Achievements added, except for Halloween and wintersday. I am pretty sure I can say that everything that comes with this expansion and comming Living Story stuff will be permanent as it has been for a long long while now and that is including Achievements.

Don’t get me wrong, this is not about if I like what we get or not. For now I am fairly neutral.
But just at looking at the features this seems to be a pretty standard MMO expansion:
- New region(s): check
- New class: check
- Vertical progression system: check (like in AoC and soon in ESO too)
- Sub classes: check
- New battleground (WvW): check
- New pvp map/mode: check
- Guild housing: checkThere is absolutely nothing new or fresh with those features. They are pretty much copy and paste as far as it looks right now.
Arguing that there won’t be a new tier of loot doesn’t make this all new and exciting, I see it more like one less feature. Other games have avoided to raise the level cap before (AoC, FF etc.).
Just saying. While the new stuff looks good, it is the most traditional bunch of expansion features anyone could come up with.
Lol yea for expansions is all about new stuff so…
- New stuff: Check.
The level cap thing, I am so happy that it wasn’t implemented that I almost screamed of joy when I read it… But before that I read something in the lines ‘Advance beyond level 80’ and I realy fealt like I was going to throw my PC in a bonfire. But all is well I just missunderstood. So fresh or not, it is not many games that havent rised level cap on an expansion so this is rather fresh to me atleast.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
I got lots of tomes and level 20 scrolls… I have leveled a few chars from 1-80 without using them becouse I take the opertunity to learn my class, explore and gain traits while enjoying the game. If I would level to 80 I would feel forced to go “hunt” for all traits, to uncover parts of maps where I havent been but I have to go now with my guild for example. I don’t get it why some people think levels is so important in this game becouse with levels you still have to do alot of other stuff. But if I got money and I am planning on just going WvW with that character I would have buffed him/her to level 80 and buy all traits I need, but as I am a PvE/PvP player I rather take it slow but sure.

If Anet is in panic then most MMOs in the industry should have already been closed by this point.
Let’s see which MMOs have been shut down?
City of Heroes? Check.
Warhammer Online? Check.
Vanguard: Saga of Heroes? Check.
Spellborn? Check.
Fury? Check.
Tabula Rasa? Check.
Hellgate? Check.
Star Wars Galaxy? Check.
Earth & Beyond? Check.
…Among others. Not to mention the half dead P2P games that went F2P and now lack any kind of support.
Do you really believe the MMORPG industry is expanding right now? Wasn’t the poor performance of nearly every MMORPG released recently enough to show that maybe the genre isn’t exactly doing well?
Well I played City of heroes, Vanguard and SWG and I know exactly why these games was terminated and GW2 is nowhere near that. GW2 is one of the top MMO’s at the moment so I do not share your believes Test.8734.

Or… you could atleast wait a few weeks before you call the expansion to small.
You don’t even know how many zones there is. Heck we don’t even know if there is a new playable race though we can pretty much say that there isn’t but they havent said that there won’t be a new playable race.
Even if there would only be one Zone how can you say it is small? It could be one zone but it could be the size of all maps combined. There is so much we don’t know and you already complains that the Expac is to small? jiieez there will be people complaining all the time…
Players: We want an expansion!!!
Anet: Okay, here is an expansion we have worked realy hard to get to you.
Players: Give us Free content!!!
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
Eh… Let me say what is usually said to post complaining about stop doing A so you can do B.
People who do A are not doing B and they do not have to pull manpower from A to work on B so A can be worked on at the same time as B is worked on. I am pretty sure that The main story was ruined by B long after A had started working on Expansionpack so B can still work to fix what they did wrong while A is working on the Expac.

I would go like ‘Ok tnx bye bye, seya never again’ and never go back to MMO’s anymore becouse I am so darn tired of Geargrind and all the other regular MMO’s so I am about to puke on them. Enjoyment for me is not to level up to gain skills and equip new gear, Enjoyment for me is; story, new skills, New Traits, New classes, New Races, New zones, New mechanics, New dungeons, new stuff, new more or less everything. But you don’t have to level up and render my hard earned gear useless for all of my characters to create any of those stuff I just mentioned.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
I havent read all comment’s but the most important thing I guess is that I give my feedback.
I got too agree with LadyRhonwyn.2501, imo the Hero Panel is pretty neat as it is with Anets design.
But the Story Journal was realy cool and hope Anet atleast uses some of your ideas or even better they hire you to work on it.
I like the guild tab and the LFG tab But I dispice the encouragement of gearcheck and Achievement point check. So in my opinion leave out the number of required AP from LFG tab and on the Guild tab it is pretty visible too as it would be more important than levels. GW2 should not be about AP, Gear or even levels imo, it should be about the joy of playing with friends and others. Sure I don’t mind some doing gearchecks and APChecks but I don’t like the encouragement of it.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
I’m less concerned about it being an expansion and more concerned about what an expansion might bring to the table.
Let’s say that the level cap goes up. That may or may not be a problem for me, depending on how it’s handled. But I have 23 80s, all in max level gear.
If I have to gear them all up again, that’s not going to be fun.
So mutch this… I only got 8 level 80 characters but that is enough.
I am looking forward too an Expac but I am worried about level cap increase, and now after hearing what they have said about level cap before release I am starting to worry. I hope they back down on their word.

Gratz, lucky you!
My brother was almost as lucky. He plays about 2 hours a week and a year later he got a precursor from a fiend in gendarran Fields and he didn’t even understand what he had got so I could have fooled him to give me it… But I didn’t, I helped him instead.
I like your screenshot ^^

I can understand them, being good and not undet mordremoth control i just cant understand how mordrem and sylvari look no where near similar when they are both minions of mordremoth it goes against everything we understood about dragon minions
Well, in the trailer of the comming LS they seem to be fighting Sylvaris but they seem to be having more branches and redglowing just like the Mordrems do… Maby they change a little when Mordremoth regains controll over the weakminded Sylvari? Though it seems the other races do not see this so I can be wrong.

@ JUN YANG: I am affected by the hype, I beleave that there is an expansion comming. But sure I will not tear down the world if it’s not, I am happy for cool new features and more Living Stories. Becouse that is why I play games, for entertainment and for me that is mostly the story.
If now there isn’t an expansion for GW2 announced I think that will take a toll on GW2 but I still beleave (Listen I beleave, it is my opinion) that GW2 will live on alot longer and will have a great playerbase.
So my whole point with this is, how the fudge can you claim that the game is loosing players? I would like to see real numbers on this, not just speculations from revenues or what you yourself have seen on the worldmap or noticed the lack of players in Lions Arch.
I think Anet have done a good job, LS chapters could have been a little longer and a little more Voiced over story would have been nice but the last Living Story has been a realy good story with neat Zones, good features and also som bad features. Poeple love the game people hate the game, it would call for a miracle to make everyone enjoy this game, so it doesn’t matter what they do people will still leave the game even if there is to come an expansion. But ofcourse for a while an expansion will make more people play GW2 for a few weeks maby but then we are back on square one.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
I just started to think… What will happen if they don’t announce an expansion next weekend, what if there isn’t an expansion at all… What if there is something else cool but not as “cool” as an expansion? I mean, oh the horror! I am starting to picture me how much complains the forums will have and even though this new stuff they are going to announce is realy awesome it still won’t be good enough becouse we all on the forums have hyped up an expansion so much that it is what we know will come.
Anyway…
I agree with OP’s points. And I wanna say I realy realy hope that there won’t be any new level cap, I don’t wanna leave this game.

My girlfriend made me buy GW2…
I payed GW1 from release to about a few months after the release of EoTN, then I got burnt out more or less. I found Lotro and started playing that.
Right before release of GW2 almost the whole Guild in Lotro was going to buy GW2 and my Girlfriend wanted to join them in GW2 so she decided to buy GW2 to us both. I had though explicitly said to her that I don’t wan’t to start to play GW2 becouse I know I will get stuck in that game and I won’t play that much lotro anymore…
Long story short, now I play GW2 alot and I havent touched Lotro in about two years, my Guildmates from lotro went back to lotro only a few weeks after the relaese of GW2 and my Girlfriend still plays GW2 but not as much as me though.

No one can rightfully call it an endless gear treadmill/hamster wheel if the hamster wheel was removed from the cage way back in 2013. Your hamster’s been getting a little pudgy since then. Its time to put that wheel back in the cage and let the thing exercise a little.
I am not really worried either, but that is because I have three level 80’s mostly with the gear I want. However, despite your great analogy, invalidating the as of right now either very expensive or highly time gated ascended gear, without reworking their acquisition in some way doesn’t seem like a good idea.
Not necessarily because I wouldn’t be okay with it but because it goes against all the things the game was marketed with and the promises made when ascended gear was announced. There is no way new tiers of gear wouldn’t be seen a a net negative by a lot of the playerbase.
If they do increase the level cap I will certainly look forward to how they handle it but let’s just say I will likely stay away from community outlets for quite a while if they do.
Every game redesigns the way progression works when they introduce a new level of gear/level cap, so its still relatively easy to hit whatever cap it in place, but to get the highest of the highest stats(by like 2%), it takes a little longer. That’s nothing to worry about.
I would still rather they not do it, but, there’s not really any justification for them to not do it, other than players getting mad that the gear they held for 2.5~3 years is suddenly obsolete. (2.5~3 years is a literal eternity by MMO standards for holding the same armor/gear/etc. unless its a game where gear stats mean almost nothing [such as GW1])
Its far more likely that Anet introduces more means of Horizontal progression (of which there have been many threads/CDI’s talking about the possibilities [new weapons, skills, subclass specializations, etc.])
The funny thing is that I havent been using the same Gear for 2-3 years, I have been changing the looks now and then and I have even got me new gear for different stats to try new stuff…
Well here is why not to raise level cap.
- They have to re-balance the whole game to fit with the new levels for both WvW and PvP.
- They would have to do new gear and most probably new visuals on the gear.
- They would need to make crafting one tier higher atleast and also make new tier of crafting materials.
- They would need to balance all now level 80 zones to scale correctly or make them at the new level cap.
- Levels have no meaning in GW2 as it is only a tutorial of the game before you start the game at level 80 just as GW1 had it to level 20.
I am in a hurry now and cant finnish this list but there are mutch more reasons in my opinion to why not raise level cap.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
If they do increase the level cap in this I can already see the talk about ascended equipment/gear treadmill popping up again.
As for price point, I can see them bundling the content in with the old base game for new players (in a new shiny box) and offering some kind of upgrade path for existing players. Part of me hopes that it is more than a price drop for existing players or if not more at least different.
I’m not worried if there’s a level cap increase or a new level of gear.
No one can rightfully call it an endless gear treadmill/hamster wheel if the hamster wheel was removed from the cage way back in 2013. Your hamster’s been getting a little pudgy since then. Its time to put that wheel back in the cage and let the thing exercise a little.
As for price….
30 dollars is my guess, 40 dollars will include season 2 of the living world. New people can pay 60 dollars and get the expansion, the original game, along with all of living story season 2.
I didn’t lke the ascended part but I can live with that, it was just once and they have a good reason for it but I would quit GW2 the instant I see that level cap has been increased and that I have to fix all my characters new gear. I doubt there will be a level increase though, expansion or not.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
If you really want “a nice fight with 5v5 players from start to the end” without the pressure of ranked, then it sounds like you should be trying the unranked queue.
Well it should’nt have to be like that… Let’s say I was no Hot Join Hero, let’s say that I only wanted to try out my new build but I end up in a team where one has left becouse I was so bad at my new build and becouse there was another player having ‘W’ pressed running in a wall inside your teams spawnpoint. I myself wo wanna keep testing my build in a real match end up being zerged by five enemies. I get no chanse at all to practice anything and this is so common.
Look at the picture I attached from my recent Hotjoin match, look what this AFKer says about hotjoin. Is this how hotjoin is supposed to work? Is it only made to stay afk until there is a spot open to switch to the winning team? That is what s/he did after being afk in loosing team.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
You do realize that as far as finding a new match goes, you can just pull up the pvp browser and manually select a match. This gives you better matches anyways. Want a match that will most likely be 5v5? Then pick a match that has over 10 players. You may have to wait until they finish their current match, but it does give you a chance to spectate you potential oponents/teammates. Or to jump right in a 5v5 find a match that has 9 players. Or to jump right into a winning match, join a match that has ecen number of players below 10.
No I havent tried that, I have noticed that I can though, so I will try thank you. In the end it won’t fix the problem. I myself don’t care for winning, I just wan’t a nice fight with 5Vs5 players from start to the end. I can’t comment yet how it will look in these active arenas but I will have a go at it. But as you say it sounds like there will be players just as usuall joining the winning team as soon as there is a spot open. Like ‘Oh look 4Vs4 and red team has 350 against blue team that has 50, I will join red becouse they needs it’. I don’t wan’t this, I would wan’t for spectators to join loosing team or not join at all, not until loosing team has one more than winning team a player is allowed to join the winning team. A loosing team is a loosing team with 100 scoore below.
As usuall, this is just an opinion.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
Honestly, I join hotjoins to spectate due to curiosity (wtb ability to spectate high tier ranked arenas!!!), however I don’t play hotjoins at all (prefer ranked arenas). I guess many players may do the same and that would explain why there are so many spectating people even when teams aren’t full.
Well obviusly they are not only spectating and study… they are spectating and join in on the winning team later on. I myself have been spectating and noticed this.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
Well I am a hotjoin hero as it is called so I guess I’m not that important to listen too. But in my opinion there should not be a singe mode that is missused so much that it ruins the fun for others even if it is practice mode.
Now this game mode is called Practice but players seems to take winning as a must! Before the last update we had the problems of players leaving to easy or switching sides or waiting in spectator untill they can join the winning side.
This leads to maches always being 5Vs4 most of the time. When someone leaves the team with 4 the game starts to take players from team with 5 and as soon as both teams has 4Vs4 someone in spectator Joins the winning team. And there are much more stuff to be done to join the winning team.
I didn’t like to leave a fight but when I notice my team is leaving over and over and over I know that something is wrong so I leave the match. Before the update it was easy to just jump directly in to a new match. Not that I liked the idea of leaving but now it is even worse, now I can’t leave a match without going to lobby and pressing the practice button again usually puts me in the same match I left with the same people who joins the winning team. It is rather hilarious when I see 4-5 players in spectator and about 3-4 players out on the arena.
I can’t find good matches in hotjoin anymore, even if it just for practice I can’t find any good matches to practice my class/build.
Before the update I was able to find a few good matches atleast, now I have only encountered matches with teamswapers and leavers.
Disable teamswaping for any modes atleast.

The last time a similar thread popped up, I suggested an automatic forum tag to appear below the poster’s name, so show how long it’s been since they were in game. In something like 3 month intervals.
eg.
Olvendred.3027
(Last online more than 6 months ago)Doesn’t stop people posting, but lets people make up their mind on whether or not a poster has experienced what they’re talking about, and so on. And how much weight you want to give to their opinion.
That is a realy neat suggestion in my opinion. Realy like this.
