My Guild Wars 2 Review

This was no review, it is a long rant/troll and I am stuck on the hook :P

This is my little review.

Story:
This story starts of like a J-RPG with a little quest where you have to do something for yourself or a friend, like finding your sister or figuring out who has tempered with your robot. But the deeper you get into the story the more you learn about The Vigil, Order of Whispers and The Priory and from there even more concerningt matters unfold.

The story is very interesting with a few choises that helps the replay value for an alt, compared to other games where your choises changes the dialogue Guild Wars 2’s storyline will take you on another paths. Even so you will be able to take your friends with you in your story or even do the same story together.
Voiceover are good but not a hundred percent, but even here compared to other games where Voiceovers doesn’t exist, it is alot better and if you don’t like the voiceover you can just disable it.

Gameplay:
Event’s; One thing I first noticed was thay no NPC’s where handing out quests wich was pretty nice, instead there are Tasks placed around the world, these tasks are active once you get near a tasks area and you will se a notification of what have to be done to compleate this task, like killing enemies, collecting stuff or busting stuff. However, compared to other games quests tasks will have more options to what has to be done to compleate, if you don’t like killing 40 of one kind of monsters then you can go bust some jars instead, or you could do both and compleate it quicker.

Leveling; For those who like leveling there are 80 levels to gain in GW2 compared to 20 levels in GW1, but that is actually mostly visual since Guild Wars series is not a level game and what I mean with that is what makes you good is player skills and how you have configured traits and skills for your caracter, this may seem hard in the beginning where you will probobly end up dieing to enemies with almost only one hit.
What is necessary to learn about this game is that there are not Tanks, Healers or DPSers, more that matters is to learn your enemies attack patter, to know when to strike and when to dodge.

Controlls:
The controls in this game is far by the best of any MMO games I have played, as I mentioned above you have to dodge alot and just by tapping your walking buttons you will dodge that way or you could just press a single key to dodge at your heading.
Dodge is as effective as visible so during your dodge you will evade all attacks.
Every fight is very mobile it’s not like many other MMO’s where you go up to your target and press your numbers in PvE and every hit count’s so always be sure to move around.

Music:
The music is wonderfull, with tunes from GW1 and some new ones and it gives me a chill, but just as every MMO I play sadly enough after a few days the music is turned of and Spotify is playing instead, but I actully had music on everytime I played in the ‘Super Adventure Box’ event since I love 8-bit music.

Summarize:
I have played many MMO’s I can’t say I know what I am talking about but I have some experience and to know that I was playing another MMO for six-years without any breaks and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to play GW2 in the first place, but my fianceé baught it to me and herself and now I am trapped and I haven’t played that other MMO very much since I got GW2 (at release).
Guild Wars 2 is something new and I know that there are lot’s of you who don’t like this new concept but take your time to learn how to play Guild Wars 2 and don’t compare it to other MMO’s to much.

My advice to all of you who listens and base their decision to Reviews, don’t listen to them since what way you ever puts it, it’s just their opinion and not yours and it doesn’t matter if 98% hates it, you could be one of the 2%.

What is the purpose?

ANet thinks about their playerbase.

Other companies allowing automation thinks about $.

Why should GW2 disallow Automation?
Becouse GW2 is a wonderfull game and other games just doesn’t cut it

However most of the discussion has been “remove DR” and “increase all drops”. Which I disagree with.

What’s funny is I dont’ even know there’s DR. Or I don’t find it very noticable.

I dont’ farm that much in orr, I mainly farm cof. I think one of my friend says he get 250+ gold in a week when he farmed orr. If there’s DR, how he farmed that much I’ll never know.

Before I discovered about cof and orr, I was farming grawl or troll in frostgauge sound. I farmed like 10 hours for a couple of week there and I never notice much diminishing return.

Quite honestly I never felt Anet is trying to stop people from farming, nor do they care.

Nope, they are not trying to stop farming niether force players to use Gems, it’s just silly asumptions.

DR triggers if the dungeon is completed consecutively or in under 30 minutes. DR can be though to accrue in points and affects any dungeon. Cycling between two different dungeons will not bypass DR. For each point of DR earned, potential rewards will be reduced by half, until they reach a minimum value.

I like the Farming nerfs.
I hate people running same stuff over again and players ‘LF cof speedruns’ and seeing Farmers have massive gold and corrupts the market and makes casual/non-farmers having to farm to enjoy the market or other parts of the game.
Just before GW2 released I was playing another MMO that whent from wonderfull to after five years it a fulltime job grinding for medallions, seals, tokens, with dungeons with different rewards values and that makes the easiest quickest and best achievement dungeon to be done over and over and over and over again…

I rather take care of real life stuff and get something real and usefull than farming the same thing over and over, days and nights for just some pixels.

I play Guild Wars 2 alot and I am just above an casual gamer I think, I don’t care for the legendary… I play the game for fun, not to earn bragging rights or being the best player in the game or compete with someone.
I guess I am about 20% away from getting all component I need for a Legendary and I haven’t farmed a single time.

Tbh i don’t care for the rng,but i do care that the champs can one shot you.
that alone is taken the fun out of the game.
Also temples like grenth takes the ****.

That is just how the game works, I had a hard time with this game in the beginning and I was so angry over how easy I die and so on, but this game is more like old Nintendo games.
Once you have learned to moves from your oponent and what to do, not to get hit is the best way… When you figured out how to fight your enemy you can almost handle every Champion in the game solo.

When are thieves getting the highest burst?

Comparing what happens to me in sPvP Thieves do have more single target Burst DPS.

A warrior jumping up to me knocks me down and starts chopping spinning and whatever they do will never be able to get me down under 50% health before I have used stunbreak and dodged out of there.

A thief that suddenly poffs up behind me can get me down to around 10% Health and have also placed root, poison, bleeding, chilled, weakness and I think even more conditions and since I am rooted I have to cure all my conditions and get away from there quick and protect me from another stab from behind since the thief is stealthed again. I am pretty sure that Thieves are topping the Burst DPS of all classes but if you compare to a fight that could take a while their DPS output will lower since they have to stealth and recharge initiative and whatever they do, a thief that is visible will die.

Down state

I haven’t been playing sPvP that much yet… only r15.

I like the Down State idéa but just as OP I dislike the unbalanced Down State skills, I mainly play Engi and I can pull oponents towards me and interrupt them and if I am lucky I can detonate where I am.

Sure I can do lot’s of cool stuff like save a friend from getting stomped or so but having 2 or 3 players getting ready to stomp me and I am dead, while
-mesmers can teleport +clone, thieves can teleport and if lucky stealth and delay time even further,
-rangers(still their Down State is bad) can stun more than one and if they are lucky they can have their pet to revive them,
-Guardians have a shockwave and if they are lucky they can put a big reviving sign and revive themselfs and others if they are close(?).
-Necros can mass Fear and (From my PvE experience with my Necro I rather heal me with Skill 1 than skill 4 if I am getting bashed at), yea they can heal while being hit.

Not sure if it’s a ranger trait but underwater I have been fighting some rangers who have had their pet rez outheal my dps, so better take out the pet first if you get the ranger to Down State under water and while doing that the ranger can kill you or heal him/herself :P

I don’t think it is necessary to change it though.

Why have profanity filter? An answer

I run into this topic on every mmo board I view lol.

I think I’ve yet to say any topic I haven’t seen on just about every MMO board I’ve been on. Balance issues, OP builds, nothing to do at level cap, not enough content, too many bugs….It’s like deja vu all over again.

As for the profanity filter, it’s something that every game pretty much needs to have, because some people have different views on what language they want to see than others.

but then the question is, should you leave the ability to report for inappropriate language when you have the filter? If a person is swearing directly at you, couldn’t you report him for harassment instead?

I think so, as I said in my OP I disable profanity filter to be able to write in my language to my friends and guildmates and also I do swear alot when I talk and personaly don’t mind people swearing near me but I know I have to respect others opinion. What I don’t like is realy foul language like mentioning some specific bodyparts or making a long sentence with only swearwords and also as you said harassment.

But that is just me, some others have less tolerance than me and can’t have filter enabled for various reasons and I am not sure but those banned are not the ones saying once “I hate that kitten Boss”, more like these harassing or spewing foul words all over.

As usuall I am unsure where to post my posts but I hope this is the right place.

I have read on Dev commented topics and found that there are so many who asks this question after have gotten their 3-days ban.
And I don’t wan’t to revive threads with a comment to their question after a dev have answered.

I don’t mind cursing, in my country more or less everyone curses like cute kittens :P
But what I do mind is when people are calling someone bad names or saying realy foul words over and over again.

So why don’t I have Profanity filter on?
First and most important reason is; I am not from an English speaking country and some of our words will be blocked by the filter, so typing with my friends or other players from my country (in Party/Guild chat ofc) would have been troublesome.

Second reason is; as I first said, I don’t mind the usuall cursing that more or less everyone does nowdays (Atleast in my country), so I rather read the curses than reading wingdings or kittens but I can’t help other players letting it getting out of hand.

As for me that is why I love having a profanity filter off option. Just becouse I can handle foul language doesn’t mean I use them on any chat becouse I mind the other players.

Because, sorry to sound rude, but you’re not the center of the Universe. The developers do not cater to just what you do or do not like. There are other people out there [not me] that are offended by curse words that are extensions of sexual body parts, or whatever.

There are also children that play this game and read these forums at the consent of their parents. A.Net would like to keep these forums as family-friendly as possibly, which I respect that.

Also, it’s because curse words are a crude, angry way to express one’s opinion of something they have not clearly thought out and just want to vent about.

Ex.

“Kitten you, A.Net! You kittened my built for the last time.”

Proper way to express it:

“What’s going on, A.Net? Why’d you change my build to make it 20% less effective? I can’t do X now.”

Oh my, I see some missunderstood me…

The point of my thread is not to say that I wonder why profanity filter exists, it is to say this is the reason why profanity filter exists. I had that topic title becouse it made it cling nice and to get more from both parts to read it.

Well my point was to say that profanity filter exists for those who need it but not everyone can have it enabled because some need to be able to communicate in their own language in thier party or guild chat, or that they tolerate a few curses but not a whole dictionary in foul language.

So even if profanity filter are used or not it does not give anyone ANY excuse to use foul language in anyway, think about the others around you. There is always ways to express yourself without using foul language.

Im sorry for not being clear and I will edit my main post and see if I can make it clearer.

(hehe so to answer your post, I fully agree with you, but the question is that only a few use the profanity filter and that is why they see the foul language and reports players using foul language… So they have children and why have they disabled profanity filter? Yes, a few reasons are my reasons.)

Dungeons nobody wants to run?

As many has noticed, something is not right with your guilds reason to not let you join Arah without Arah Armor.

1. The Arah armor is just as good as any other Exotic armor, deference is Cosmetic. You can get the same stats on your armor without even ever do Arah story, so maby they where require you to have full exotic?

2. If they wan’t you to have full exotic they are themselfes very bad players, they should understand that in this game, gear is not as important as player skills, sure you maby do more damage and get withstand one more bash but in the end it’s all how good you are to handle the situation.

3. Find a new guild, you can join up to 3 guilds but only represent one (With each character). So my advice to you is to find another guild se if they fit your playstyle.

Edit: (Oh and I like TA and CM alot, I don’t care much for CoE since everyone plays it and have that armor and I will never again play AC)

To beat the frogs you stand just at the edge of their range and do a short hop. They can only do the max height one, while they are jumping rush in and kick them.

If yer on Rytlock mode run back out again and do it again, they’ll get another attack off before you can hit them again otherwise.

Beat it on Rytlock and found all treasures. Does a screenshot count as a wizard license now?

Well, to beat the frogs you don’t even have to jump… The frog attacks once each second or so and when you jump, so don’t jump just run up to it and hit it and run back again and repeat

I am also a Wizard now Though has anyone beat the rabbit without berserk it dead?
I have a silly idéa that one ending is if you beat it with no lifes lost?

What are all the endings, Easy mode, Rytlock, Rytlock with tresures and?

For example, before the recent ‘boss chest’ change, in the main Hirathi event chain when the Seraph storm the Centaur’s main camp, the chest spawned after the Seraph broke the gates, ie. two events before the main boss event.

I found I could log in a toon AFTER that chest spawned and still open it, even though my toon wasn’t even in the game when it spawned and in some cases I wasn’t logged into the game at all.

I opened it on all my toons that could get there, was that an ‘exploit’? If so then I risked a ban doing something that the game allowed me to do. I assumed it was WAI since otherwise Anet would have fixed it: the change you did was clearly more than ‘fixing’ a bug (there are after all several world chests that are perma-spawned in those camps).

In my opinion, yes you where exploiting.
If you suspect that there is something fishy with it you should report it ASAP and try to avoid it and absolutely NOT repeating it several times.
If you come across a place where you think ‘Oh this was an realy realy easy way of farming Rares and stuff’ you should think twice.
If you get banned for exploiting and you didn’t do any intentional exploiting, there isn’t much you can do more than claim your innocence and see if they beleave you.

I am quite happy that it brings fear in to some people, these people are more aware of an exploit or not.

Also I beleave that exploiting requires alot of repeated action to one and the same bug/glitch or so… You have the time to stop and think ‘This isn’t right’.

Edit: And in this case where people where banned with no reason, they realy will have their accounts back since A-Net did an error.

The new AC...

I return in GW after 7 or so month, no exotic gear, not even full rare. Completed all 3 AC paths with guildmates (all running first time) and then few times with pugs to grind tears. No idea what exactly is hard there.

I am very sorry, I won’t say you are lying but I suspect some bendig or some facts are skipped.

1. Did you skip Kholer or not?
2. How much time did you put down each time especially with the PUGs.
3. How many ragequitters did you have?
4. Compared to the other Dungeons this Dungeon was … what?
5. Exotic or not, where everyone level 80 with 80 gear?

As I said before, as for my groups last encounter we was exhausted after 3 hours trying to defeat Kholer so getting stuck at Ghost Eater for 30-60min was enough.
If we skipped Kholer from the start we might have had enough Energy+Time to take down Ghost Eater since he seemed much easier than Kholer.

Oh and Edit: If we all would have been level 80 with 80 gear, yes I beleave we would have been able to defeat Kholer after just a few tries.

I just noticed I posted in an old thread for an old update.

Just wan’t to say what I don’t like.

AC Explorer is recommended level 35, and it says when you choose to enter that it is recommended level 35.
If this dungeon or even Explorer modes should be “only” for elitists who can do this instance in 30 min with only for players, then it should say “Level 35 instance; not for PUG’s or casual gamers, you go do something else!”

Kholer (Before update): We managed him with 2 lvl 80 and 3 level 45-ish after about an hour trial and error.
Kholer (After update): 3 level 80 and 2 level 65-70-ish, we tried to beat him for around 3-4 hours and never succeded, we got him to 20% at best. As I said, we are not the best group out there but c’mon we are able to compleate all CM and TA explorer’s.

In the end we skipped him, though we didn’t wan’t to do that.

Did path 2 so
Ghost Eater: Way to strong puddles and impossible to succesfully dodge, if you out of dodges you are dead if youre not a Vitality build and with level 80 gear.
We was so tired after Kholer fight so we where realy not in the mood to try to many more times so why didin’t figure out the best way to do it, but I beleave he is possible in the end with our group.

About the Gravelings with knockdowns: It’s too much, getting unlucky or being a ranger(For some reason they agro alot) they you are perma knockeddown to death and since you have lot’s on you you diediedie and die some more.
We managed the trap room with attacking gravelings just barely since I was lucky tanking them all by the traps and succesfully dodged all knockdowns.

Dungeon Patch Discussion 1/28

This is my experience of AC Expl Detha’s path.

With my usuall group with 3 level 80 2 level 60-70.

I know it’s not the top group and we are not eliteists, but we have done CM and TA explorer paths with enough difficulties and good amount of fun.

Before Kholers update we could handle him on another path but couldn’t handle the kill burrows and protect machines becouse our main dps was condition damage and that does not work on burrows (Hah easy! NOT!)

Now we spent 4½ hours to figure out how to kill this guy, but since he spawns his trash little now and then and when the necromancers show up we are dead since they place the deadly puddles on downed allies and jadajadajada.

I read on the wiki that you can skip Kholer, with regret we did that.

We lost one member since he had to go to work and we finally arrived at Ghost eater.
Hehe, we figured out how to beat this dude but since we where just four it was hard to get it done, His puddles are way to powerfull imo and I read on wiki that one could kite him but when we got him in the first trap and turns back to a ghost he goes berserk spitting puddles on who ever he want’s and cripples another one while running after someone else, … after an hour figuring the boss out and lot’s of repair costs we gave up.
We have done CM expl TA Expl and Sorrows Embrace Story and havent run in to a brickwall as thick as AC Expl is
I have told my friends that I will never do AC Expl again until I see a nerf on it or when we are all level 80 with 80 gear and well it says Recommended level 35? Hahaha haha funny

Crafted worth less than material.

I have stopped leveling some of my crafting at 350ish since I don’t have the materials yet, I will not buy them at TP since the cost is insane and I wan’t the recipes unlocked, I don’t need to level it anyway since I can just sell my mats and buy the armor instead.
I hate to grind so I won’t grind for mats, and this game is supposed to be non-grind friendly?

In my opinion something is wrong and I don’t wan’t it like this, but it looks like I have to live with it.

I feel like I need to comment on this. The design of the game is a ‘play how you want’ theme park. So, when you say you don’t want to grind, the option is to buy gear instead of sourcing mats….. that eliminates the need to grind. But your complaint is that you don’t want to buy mats and you don’t like buying gear because it makes crafting feel worthless.

Personally, I’ve been able to self source mats to level crafting without using the TP, but I know when I need certain tiers of mats, it’s time to go farm a few event chains (risen for t5, centaurs for t3, grubs for t1, etc. ) I don’t consider it grind because I generally have an alt in that level range and I’m leveling the character while chaining the events for mats, but maybe that’s grind for some.

The ultimate truth is, crafting gives you an option of a method to acquire gear. It is not the only way but it is a method that can work for some playstyles.

In defence I must say I suspect you missunderstand what “I want”.
I want craftmaterials to be cheaper than Crafted gear, Craftmaterials could still be worth what they are but crafted gear should be more expensive, like if I need 4 logs(4s), 4 Ingots(5s) and 8 Scales(44s) to create a gun the gun should be worth around 53s but at the moment this gun is worth 4s 53c and the vendor price is 4s 50c …

Another thing that is amusing, since the TP price is that low it means that people sells the gear at TP for the same price as vendor price and also pay the taxes and in the end loose a few copper, so not only do they loose alot of cash leveling up their crafting (Wich is unessesary if you craft to be able to make gear for you and your friends since you can buy it right out of TP from the start) they also loose money selling it at TP instead of selling it to a vendor next to you with a few clicks.

Also in defence of “not grinding mats” um I have also as I think I wrote before leveled up 5 alts to level 80 and I have another one atm at level 70, I did not know “risen for t5, centaurs for t3, grubs for t1, etc” and who does? I mean do I actually have to play GW2-Wiki to feel that it’s no grind? Anyway I do not realy mean I need to grind, since I do afford to buy the material I don’t have but as I said why should I buy it when I can buy the armor I was going to craft cheaper than the mats? eh owell.

This always comes up because there are people who want to ‘make a profit’ just by crafting. Why do they deserve it? Cause they “suffered” through levelling up a crafter!

It reminds me of the people who level up alts and think they deserve more advantages because they did something they didn’t want to do?

It gives XP, it gives achievements, it is useful for legendary, and it opens up more options for your character(s). Such as converting mostly worthless level 5 mats into ectos or Forge food. In the end, if you don’t think it’s worth it then you don’t do it!

True, that’s why I said I don’t do it and again I have to explain it’s NOT about profit it’s about the finnished product being cheaper than the mats that in the end leads to Crafting is pointless if you want to do what I usually do in other games, I play alot and my friends don’t, I am on the other hand very kind and usually craft stuff to my friends if they need anything, but at the moment I don’t do that instead I say I give you some money so you can buy the stuff you need. The feeling is different, it’s not the same and it ruins my joy of being a crafter.

But yes as I said my crafting is at 350-ish and I don’t feel the need to level it anymore since now I have learned the bitter truth of this games Crafting Vs. The Market.
And I am pretty convinced “the voice” want’s it as it is so I have to live with it.

Thank you for all your answers.

What bothers me is that some of you speak of profit in the sense of “if you wan’t to make money do this”, but what I am upset about isn’t that I can’t make money it’s that crafting a single piece armor for myself, my frined or my alt’s costs more than if I should by a full set armor at TP. I know more or less what to do to make profit on TP but we could remove crafting from the game and just have refinement and Mystic forge since … well like some of you says ‘They craft to level crafting’ and I thought most crafters leveled crafting to make equipments for themselfes and friends, not only to make profit.

I have stopped leveling some of my crafting at 350ish since I don’t have the materials yet, I will not buy them at TP since the cost is insane and I wan’t the recipes unlocked, I don’t need to level it anyway since I can just sell my mats and buy the armor instead.
I hate to grind so I won’t grind for mats, and this game is supposed to be non-grind friendly?

In my opinion something is wrong and I don’t wan’t it like this, but it looks like I have to live with it.

The BLT is fine ikittennow how move yourself; just as example, i went from 4 gold to 60 in 10 days just putting buy and sell order while i was studying (and my profit was just 2-3 copper per item sold).
If u have no idea of what to do is just your problem from my point of view, but some suggestion read here are funny and nosense at all, like if someone would say “limit each path in dungeon once a day, or they farm too much items/gold”

Well imo it’s not all about making a profit, I could also make money on TP if I wan’t to spend my free time doing that.

As I said in my Crafted cheaper than mats thread is that an armor piece shouldn’t be cheaper than the mats required to craft that armor, in other games this works fine or even they don’t even exist at the marketplace so you have to craft them.

The TP is not only to make profit but for other to do some shopping and get stuff.
There is so much weapons., gear, bags, items and more that is worth less than what they cost as vendor price, becouse Players/bots/grinders sell whatever they get at TP for the lowest price possible and even sell them to the ones requesting an item for a few c.

So when I come across a nice rare weopon I wan’t to sell it a TP it costs 5s and there is 8 total at TP … Whatte? Sure I put it up at a higher price but as soon as a bot/grinder/Player get’s a hand on one he/she is on a hurry to get rid of it from the bag and sells it for the lowest possible or at requested price.

Since you can sell how many items you like, you can sell it wherever you are, there is no expire time on the items people don’t care what they post the stuff for, ieher to expensive or to cheap.

I am possibly wrong, but this is what I think atm.

Here Ill sum it up then we can close this.

The reason base mats are more expense then the outcome is becaue you are using the mats to level.

If while leveling you just buy the insignia or armor you gain no level or crafting exp. Thats why.

At level 400 craft and level 80 items your prices are way far off. Unless the market is shifting, the price to craft an armor or weapon is almost equal to the price of crafting it. This is because everyone is also level 400 crafting and there is no competition.

The only plus to being 400 crafting is if you want to make armor or weapons for another hero you have likely gathered all the mats you need durinf gameplay and making it is essentially free.

Though crafting to level even so why would the armor that you craft cost less than the mats? Even if you craft an armor just to level you sell it at vendor if it doesn’t sell at TP and if it sells you sell it for the production cost, but as it is now the armor cost (for lower levels) is even less than what you get from vendor.

I am pretty sure the cost to craft an armor is much more than buying one at TP, since each mat costs for one armor costs almost as much as the armor for each mat.

Well collecting and craft with what you have got, sure but as TP is now it’s more profit in collect → sell mats you have collected → Buy the armor instead of craft it.

Sorry if this is some kind of double post, looked for this topic.

I have leveled five chars to level 80 and during their levels I crafted eq for them just to level my crafting but what have troubled me so long now is that if I wan’t to buy a Vial of blood it costs me about 1s or more each and I need 8 for one armor piece and if I buy the crafted armor piece at TP it costs less than a silver so why should I even care to craft anything anymore? Just the same when I reach 400 in crafting, crafting an exotic armor piece will cost me more that 10 gold and buying it at TP will cost me max 5 gold.

Is this becouse you need 250 of a lot of crafing materials to create Tri-pendands and Legendary and much more? Is there another reason or is this how A-net wan’t it? I mean you don’t need to craft anymore, you don’t earn anything to craft and sell (Just sell the material), you better buy the armor for your buddies than craft a new cool armor for them… Why craft at all?

(Costs I mentioned are not correct though the value of materials are higher than the final product itself, that’s my point.)

The title says “Keg brawl” and I don’t wan’t to fill the forums with posts about the same thing.

Though I don’t like the lob skill at all and I hope it’s being removed or realy realy nerfed I have another thing on my mind.

My guild want’s to play with each other, no not team up and beat another team though that would have been cool too But I mean private maches, yesterday I thought of taking some members of my guild to play in Keg Brawl since they hadn’t done it and they could take the daily while learning, the sad part was even grouped we all each came to a different game
Ok, we wasn’t 10 online willing to play Keg brawl but we where 8, 4vs4 would have been awesome. Afraid of cheeters? well let these maches not give achievement’s then.

Will open world PVP servers be considered?

First of all, I hate Open world PvP.

I wouldn’t mind if all who would wan’t that moved to another server as long as they won’t bugg me.

Why have special rules “Can’t attack if there is an event” “Can’t attack lower levels” “Can’t attack this and that” and suddenly this server would be a PvE server.

Just open a Open PvP server with no care for lore or rules, just let player bash their skulls in to smithereens until they get bored and change server again.

All in all atleast I don’t think a server like that would bring profit, most people who like PvP will play WvW since thats where the real PvP is, Open PvP gives joy to another player base and I can’t imagine that that group of people is enough to be ant profit to make a whole server just for that.

Will Guild Missions need a levelled Guild

We have to define “small” here people. A Small guild is 20 active players in my opinion. In this case, maxing every Tech wouldn’t be hard at all.

A guild that rarely sees more than 6 or 7 players online at once is hardly a Guild. It’s more of a party.

I am the leader of a small guild we are atm 17 members but still growing, it’s already hard to grow as a guild when there are huge popular guilds out there, the people that joins my guild has almost the same state of mind as me and how they wan’t to play the game, we are fine with not being to many. When I read what A-net said about these Guild missions to be able to do as small guild or big guilds I was happy to read that.

I arrange events and dungeon runs and I try to make the guild grow, I call my Guild a Guild and if A-net realy wanted “only” big guilds they could have set a minimum number of members in the set of a day.

I do like the idea to have guild missions at Art of War level 5 but as the first release is just bogus, what about “We wan’t everyone to be able to participate in new content”?
So for me to try out the new content I have to iether join a PvP-guild that has level 5 in Art of War or join a Regular Guild that has been active a long time and have level 5 Art of War? No, I don’t wan’t to leave my friends behind and I am proud of my Guild and someday we can try these Guild Missions but until then we have to enjoy the other parts in the update.

If this helps reduce the number of ridiculously small guilds, and medium sized guilds with poor representation, then I am all for it.

Game has been out for 6 months. If your guild has not researched all the tiers by now, regardless if your guild is PvE only, then stop building all those useless MF banners and enforce rules of representation to get the influence to do research. If that is not to your liking, then stop whinging about being gated from content.

The clue is in the title of the game, people, and seems Anet is looking to consolidate the player base. I say this is about time …

Your idéa would mean there won’t be any new guilds after a while, how good would that work with your statment ‘The clue is in the title of the game’ when there is now guilds fighting.
Not every Guild has been active since start of the game, my old Guild died out so me and some friends started a new Guild with specific requirements so we are not as fast growing as many other guilds.

Laurel Ascended gear not for me?

Today I got my forst 30 Laurels and I was happy to go buy my Ascended Amulet…

I noticed my stat combination does not exist, I have always got gear with Power/Vitality/Condition Damage … But these Ascended stuff does not have that and I though maby I can get something close so I looked at the Precision/Toughness/Condition Damage and notice that the second part goes Healing/Toughness/Precision O_o eh?

I mean, I think my build is great and it works super, I would like to keep it like this but I thought I could get a little bit better with ascended gear but it appears I should aim to upgrade my Rare jewels to Excotic and skip the ascended since I would loose my power and vitality and earn some useless points in precision and toughness.

As for now I will save my laurels I guess

So if someone understands my rumbling, could you clarify why it’s like this?

Fix Rangers

It is overpowering the pet itself does up to 4k damage while the ranger simply stacks up 20 bleeds poison burning cripple immobilize , having the ability to swap pets mid combat stops the other player from even getting close to the ranger. not even tank builds work against ranger because ranger simply focuses on condition while pet does the melee being able to swap your pets at anytime is no diferent than having a never dieing pet.

I have never noticed the pet being that OP, they are just a niusance so I always aim to kill the ranger and not the pet.
I have met a few solo Ranger at WvW and they are a pushover compared to a mesmer or a thief.
I play a ranger as an alt but only PvE and pets are important but they are hardly my damage output, I use them as Tanks, healer, CC and swiftness.

Fix Engineers

I play Engineer as a main and all other classes as alt, accept for Guardian I think Engineers have the best Condition removals since most of the other classes remove one or two conditions and skills have long CD.

I use Elixir C and I use toolbelt iether to help others or to get rid och one simple condition, when I end up fighting Condition classes I save Elixir C until I get lots of condition and poff all gone and now they are boons. If you get more conditions well tough luck but not many classes can remove conditions that that anyway.

Elixir C is instant and converts ALL conditions to boons and toolbelt works as a AoE sigle condtition converter. Go with Elixir S to shrink yourself to get some time to recharge your healing skill and Elixir C and also if you are lucky you can use Elixir S Toolbelt to be invisible for good time enough to get away.

Even if they would use these colour codes it would all end in more questions anyway.
And when someone has a question and don’t get an answer they will say ‘AreaNet are not listening to us!’ and we are back at square one.

Also as stated before, and even with the colour codes; let’s say they give a post a yellow code and time goes and goes, four updates later the codes goes red/grey (since A-net noticed that with the latest update or comming one this suggestion will only make the state of the game worse so they had to put the idéa aside.

Imagine the complaits of how A-net are liars and they will never ever buy a game from them and yadayadayada (I have seen that happen).

Also in WvW you can claim a fort for your own Guild thus making WvW “Guild Wars” and I suspect as the game grows we will be able to have Guild Wars just as in Guild Wars 1, just look what comes to the next update “Guild events”.

Downed stage in WvW is for the noobs

I read the first page… And I can’t commen’t on everything I wan’t to comment on so I will make post about I don’t wan’t downstate removed from WvW and why.

As I said, I don’t want downstate removed becouse I think it adds strategy to the game.
Some classes even have the option to do more damage in downstate and if a player choose to trait for downstate build so be it.
If I go up against 3 players alone I first of all am traited so I do damage to all around my target so usually all 3 get’s hit once I get one down I start to shoot the next one and once the first one is up again I shoot the first one down again and repeat, if the other two does not seem to help the downed player I usually try to fight near enough to do damage to the downed player at the same time.

I only stomp if I know for sure I can do it without dieing and when I do I always go invisible or stability.

If I can’t handle 3 players alone then I wasn’t pro enough to deal with them and I have lost 1vs,me and won 4vs,me so all in all I think it’s all about skills and plan ahead.

And for zerging I think rez ability is the best, if I compare to another game where I can’t be rezzed until someone is out of combat I have to retreat to “homebase” and get me back to the battlefield, on the way there a group of players are hiding to intercept solo player that had to retreat and to kill them over and over again until enough players finally died to be a group big enough to iether get past peacfully or hunt them down.
It’s realy no fun being solo and getting zerged by a group of players over and over again, and finding another path is not that fun iether and still put’s you at risk of being zerged by the group.

If the fighting sides are at even odds it’s all up to skills and teamwork and if you are at a disadvantage you mostly have a fort running back too, if you still have problem I am sure disabling downstate won’t help you there anyway.

I love the level downscaling, the point of GW2 isn’t leveling and imo an RPG does not need leveling.
The story, the feeling, the battle machanics, the choices, the interactions, the people, the new gear, the achievment’s, the humor and much more is what makes an RPG.
I have lost 5 friends from GW2 since they leveled to 80 in one week and now they think they are done with this game, I have told them ‘You have missed the whole point of Guild Wars, it’s your loss.’

First of all, the thing you can get from doing the daily(Laurels) is no more than fluff and “non casual” gear, you can play the game without doing the dailies and get the feel of the game you did before the update, for you it doesn’t change a thing.

Play the game as you like and some days you will end up compleating a daily without even trying, some days you will notice you are only 10 craftings away and can do that in a few minutes.

I think you are doing something wrong if you die so much you are saying… If you wan’t to “farm” dailies go back to lower levels and try those, if you have better gear that is.

Level difficult for Dungeons

I like the idea too… Though Casual sounds a little too easy, I wouldn’t wan’t it without traps but for those having problems with traps, maby not deadly let’s say normal traps does 75% damage and easy traps do 30% damage-ish.
Also the puzzle thing is some fun parts so I am not sure to gimp that too.

The hard thing about the dungeons as it is now IMO is the Trash enemies.
- One/two shotting snipers. – fix – More corsair’s when targeted so you know when to dodge.
- 25 stacks of bleed thievs. – fix – Lower the bleed alot.
- Perma stunning/knockback/Daze. – fix – Stun/knockback/daze immunity for 3-4sec.
- Too high health enemies. – fix – Lower Health point for silver rings alittle.
- Millions of AOE Circles (Not visible enough). – fix – Fill the red circles transparent red if you desire. (On/Off in Options)

Also some of the bosses are like a brickwall… You treverse the dungeon easy and suddenly POW! ZKAZAP! WAK!!! ‘Holy-moly Batman, we whiped!’
- Fix – Lower power for bosses “one-shot” skills.

I think it’s nice having an easymode version of a Dungeon to get the feel of the dungeon and to get a little better idéa of what to do at these brickwalls.
IMO it’s not fun doing a Dungeon run where you have to die over and over again to figure out what to do, or read the wiki who’s strategy is dependent of Waypoint zerging (Someone should update that).

I rather do Casual Dungeons with bad/no rewards to learn how to do them than doing them as they are now to trial and error until I know what to do.

Though they have nerfed the rangers now, they are not at all as hard as before.

Dungeons for Casuals

In GW1 they had Hard Mode…

Why not just lower the difficulties and loot on the dungeons including the Explorer modes (since why shouldn’t casuals be able to see that stories too?)
And have the ordernary loot and difficulty for Hard mode for those who thinks you can do AC with a PUG in less than 30min.

Rant:
I managed to get my friends to play with me yesterday and we can play togehter once or twice a week, we did AC story and then we tried AC Exp path 3 and couldn’t compleate it becouse we had to much condition damage and few pike dps…. Now we have to wait until next Friday to give it a new try and my friends are level 40-ish so we can only do 2 dungeons and I am not so happy by doing AC and CM story 4 more times this month to compleate my monthly, but it feels that we have to do that since atleast we are not good enough players to do AC Exp and if we where to compleate it, it wouldn’t take less than 30min… Our failure run was over 1h.

New Dailys/Monthlys for the world

In the Daily achievement window there should be a new category called " Local hero of the day" Each day in this category we will have 3 achievements that will award 1 laurel each. So if some one does all dailies plus the 3 achievements in one day it will be awarded 4 laurels.
The local hero achievements will be zone based so that every day there will be 3 different zones to complete.

Here is the example I see:

Daily basic achievement – 100%

1) Kill Variety
2) Crafting
3) Gathering
4) Resurrecting allies

1) Queensdale local hero
– a) events
– b) specic foe kills
– c) discover the jumping puzzle

2) Malchor’s Leap local hero
- a) gathering specific material
- b) events
- c) dodges

3) Sparkfly Fen local hero
- a) kill underwarer
- b) events
- c) resurects

The similar requirements in the zones are counting one after another so doing 5 events in Queensdale will first fill up the basic dailies and than they will count for the Queesdale loca hero

This suggestions does not limit the players with less play time but in the same time will award players who can spand more time in the game making them go in different zones each day.
A new player will feel tempted to go and find the new zones because of the rewards.
Giving 1 Laurel for the Zone dailies needs to raise up a bit the requirements. So the number of events for the basic dailies will be 5, but for the Queesdale will be 10.

The required zones and the requirements for completing them will be changed on a daily basis

I like alot!

Though maby only one local hero achievement a day, I mean 4 Laurels a day is to much I can imagine.

Makes more players visit lower level areas, makes old players “help out” at these abandoned “No reward” champions in the world and also while doing it you can maby do some map-exploring with your alts if you are done with your main and much more

Wow I realy do like it alot, but ofcourse still have the usual daily so the ones not bothered with going “back” in the game can earn some Laurels.

Yeah I kinda agree as well, though it might not make much sense to be able to bleed an object, it just isn’t fair for people that chose to play with conditions. It’s supposed to be “play it your way”, but condition builds always seem to be the odd one out.

Yea, but there is allready wierd stuff like bleed a spirit, golem, ghost and so on :P

I agree with 2 and three.

I did AC expl path 3 for the first time with my kin yesterday and I havent checked Wiki we wan’t to experience the stuff ourselfes and learn how to handle things.

Me being a healing guardian and the have 2 condition damage dealers, one all around-ish and one pike damage dealer. However we did well untill we was going to defend two Essence collectors, well what I figured we had to do there was to DPS down the burrows as fast as we can … Well that does not work for condition damage dealers, we finally had to give up and read wiki and watched youtube where I lolled at the stupid “this is how you do this”-clip where 3 Warriors and 2 guardians at level 80 AOE spinsdowns the whole room. I don’t like to have to give up an instance just becouse our main damage output is centered at Condition damage… Okay with a boss immune to fire, poison or bleeding but not everything and if so the boss should still be able to be beaten in time.

And yet iPhone is considered superior because of the price point alone. If there were other flaming weapons in the game, they’d just be considered “cheap” volcanic swords.

Not everyone is motivated by exclusivity, though many are. The point is to introduce other options to people that may be after the theme but not the specific item.

Not to mention there ARE alternatives to volcanic swords. They may not flame, but they have other effects that are just as cool.

Nothing underlies the menace of a necro than a full abyss arah light set paired with the horrifying.. the MENACING… bifrost : P ( a cool effect does not guarantee the unity of a wardrobe)

Making volcanic easier to get would just mean you won’t go for it.

So if someone rolled up to you in a brand new m5 and handed you the keys you’d refuse it because it’s “cheap”?

Woha, I can’t see what you don’t understand Plasma.
What they seem to be saying:
Cosmetics costs, rarity costs.
A car and an Iphone, smartphone none the less are expensive, so by saying no to a gift like that would be stupid, though you would be very suspicous over this charity.
However, what you seem to miss is that majority of the people would buy or accept an item wich have been spoken about alot in media and is very rare for someone to have rather than having a so called cheap clone of the item that is easy to get and almost everyone have.

This clone item is as good as the original looks more or less just like it but still majority would want the original, hence the price on the original will be higher than the clone and less people will own it.
If the price of the original item would plumit to the bottom everyone would get it and suddenly it’s not as important to have anymore.
Not many people would like to go around with the same stuff as everyone else have.

Some people want’s the so called end game stuff so show of since it’s hard to get, if this end game stuff was to be easy to get so some of those people would surely go ‘Waaah!! The stuff is to easy to get and everyone else have it, even the noob’s can get it it’s not fun anymore!’.

I am having the same lag, each 5-10min I get a few second lag-spike where I can’t do anything accept for moving anf jumping.

I had the same lag around the beginning (The first days) of Helloween and Wintersday … And now when I think about it, it was around this day of the month… around 15th-22th October and December … I don’t recall any lag “before” Lost shores though.

I usually don’t have any lag at all otherwhise.

developers mistake players pay the price, and question about the recipe still not answered and topic is closed. 4 days cant answer a simple question.

An exploit is always a mistake from the developers, it’s never an intended feature so if a player use an exploit you are sure to be suspended or banned concidering the “harm” done.

In real life; if a money transport guard leaves the doors open to the money and goes an releaves himself, does this mean you can come and take the money? No, even though the guard made a mistake you are still stealing money.

Back to the game; if you notice that something gives you very easy profit, you should report it and not repeat it.
Also, why would you wan’t to know wich recipe? You will know when you exploit, do it alot and you are realy aware of what you are doing and you apperenty will be banned.

Why fear the ban-hammer?
If you haven’t done anything wrong, submit a ticket and then you will have your account back in a few days or weeks, if you can’t wait that long I would advice you to take a break from pc/video-games and enjoy the real world.

When I was about 12 yrs old I played MUD and found an exploit, told about it to my friends and we used it, I was found out by a mod and got a warning and the exploit was no more. *Since I got a warning I learned that next time I find an exploit I will be more cautious … That’s one reason why warning’s are useless and an exploiter is deserved with a perma ban since ONE exploit can ruin the whole game for other serious players.

And it is very easy to know if something is a serious exploit like when you can duplicate an item, when you repeatedly can kill “normal” enemies with one blow and so on… As soon as you notice stuff like this, send a BUG.

Complaining about it makes you just look guilty, in my opinion.
I think that even if all wrongfully banned would find a way to post in the forums and fill it, it wouldn’t make the chance of you being wrongfully banned that high anyway.

*Edit: Being cautious about it doesn’t help iether, best way is to report exploits and not to use them.

I am one of those who finnished it on the fifth try, I was at the big snowballs on my first try and at third try I accidentöy rolled over the edge at the presents before jumping down in the big present :P

I thought this one was easier that MadKings jp since MadKings jp took me 2h to compleate.
