I have around 12k AP and I don’t have any uniqe weapon.
Though I used up all my glory to buy Light, Medium and Heavy Arah set since that is the hardest dungeon for me to collect tokens.

Anyway I think it is childish to to be jelous of this becouse all who bought or crafted your stuff has it now and the others don’t. Also it is far from everyone who will get this weapon and sure if you wanna wait and take your chances if you get it from AP do so or if you wanna buy it now you do that, I am pretty sure the price wont go down.

Hmmm…

First it sounds like you havent tried it long enough.
Second (I don’t wanna be a meanie but) it sounds like this game just isn’t for you if I understand how you want the game to be.

Now to your points.
- The loot isn’t fun: Since this game is mostly centered on horizontal progress, loot will rarely be meaningfull and have a big impact on the game, it is more about player skills and not gear. I do agree that it doesn’t feel so interesting in always looting green and blues and always salvage it but moste other MMO’s are like that anyway.
- Nobody really does dungeons: Well, you can always use the LFG-tool and look for other players who don’t wanna rush or skip. Rewards for a dungeon is pretty good, it is good amount of gold and also tokens to collect Exotics.
- Build diversity: Also here, you can still play Cleric or whatever you want. Just look for your party in LFG-tool. But though I agree that Zerker is the best stats for PvE if everyone uses it but there is a small nerf for it comming and we will see what happens next.
- World events should be more: During this year maps will get the MegaServer and events will run on timer, so events wont get stuck anymore, there wont be a town full of corpses if no one ever comes and ressurect them and so on. Though they wont have an effect on other maps the event do effect that map you are playing at just as your example with the giant.
- Living Story: I am one of those players who support the Living World to the fullest. I love how the story is like a book or Tv-show that you have to wait two weeks to see the next part and also that the previous stories leaves a mark like something has happened here, this wasn’t here before. When the Tower of Madness appeared people started to speculate what was going to happen and after the Tower of madness we can still see that something has happened there. Let’s not forget about Lions Arch, the whole finnish of the first Living Story.
I wouldn’t mind in the future for new and old players to re-wiev the Living Story as a small Solo-instance version of the Living Stories.
——
- ? Added a new zone where players fight: hmmm okay… Well then.
- Rare and Bountiful resources: Well there are rich ores and they are not randomly placed (yet, but it is going to be) but they are guarded by mostly veteran monsters but sometimes even by champions.
- Monsters periodically assault: Have you been in bloodtide coast? Sure it’s not for any resources.
— Though I like this fight for control over resources but I dunno how that would work realy, I mean do all players get a few crafting mats for every minute we control a point or do we have infinite nodes and trees to harvest while we control the point? Or what kind of resources do you mean? —

The last meaning, what do you mean with that? Have you heard of world bosses? There are quite a few and here is a good website for tracking them. http://us.gw2stuff.com/

Good ideas OP, but I’m operating under a different set of suppositions than you are.

First of all, the changes you’re, in my opinion, won’t solve the future problems Anet has. What if this was the groundwork for coming out with an expansion?

Anet has said, and shown, that they’re worried about dividing the population to finely. One of the things that worries them most is the introduction of new maps. When that happens, as in most games, everyone will be on the new maps. Anet doesn’t want to necessarily make every new map as good to go to as every other new map, because that would again divide the player base. The world is too big. The world will get even bigger with new zones.

People are treating this mega server technology as a one off suggestion, instead of a step in the development of the future of the game. WIthout knowing the rest of what Anet has planned (and we honestly won’t know that because they’d be foolish to tell us this early out), we can’t really make suggestions like this.

On the surface, suggestions like this might seem good…but they can’t take into account the rest of what the game designers have in the works. This isn’t the end of the story, this is the beginning of the story.

It’s like trying to suggestion a war strategy without knowing what all the forces are doing. You might get a lot of people agreeing with you, but none of us knows for sure exactly why this has been implemented the way it has…we can only guess.

My guess is that when new zones, or an expansion comes out, they’ll need technology to get people together in old zones.

Because at that point, most people are going to move on to the expansion content.

+1 Agree to this.

I think Megaserver idéa sounds like the best option to populate maps so I am not at all against it. The MegaServer is young (even unborn), there are more stuff to be implemented to it before it is perfect and there is more parts that needs to be fixed. We could call MegaServers and Alpha or Beta but I am glad that Anet has decided that we will be the ones to make it perfect.

Sure there are atm some pro’s and Con’s to this but imo the pro’s are just overflowing in my head. I am totaly looking forward to see this in action.

As to OP’s Idéas, they are not bad but I think they won’t do much.
They will make players visit maps, do their stuff and leave or farm them. It wouldn’t be life it would only populate the interesting parts of the maps. By adding more rewards you add more farming, and I think economy will rise thus making one or two of the “best” farm spots to be over populated again and we are back to square one. If they are BoA it will iether do the same or be done once you got what you need and then left alone. My impression if how Anet wants GW2 to be is ‘No or as little farming/grinding as possible’ so by adding more tokens like dungeon tokens, there will be more need to farm. And with OP’s suggestion more or less every part how to populate the maps is to lure players out to grind/farm more. I do like the Map BountiesUnlocking new trait(Ofc) – Gonna catch ´em all.

Sorry if this has been said but…
My Guildleader pointed out to me that this MegaServer system could make it hard for us to recruit new members on our server and as someone said on this thread, ‘It will be hard to recruit WvW players’. I hoped then that the last Blog would be about open a Global Server channel where people can talk with their server, to anywone on your server who has ServerGlobal chat activated.

If they are determined to take over the cities with megaserver, then this becomes an absolute necessity.
It’s a wonderful idea in the first place. Would tie the community together even better if they were able to participate in general server conversation from any area in Tyria, as well as, wvw.
In pve, it would make the world not feel so lonely and desolate.
In wvw, it would allow us to ask for reinforcements w/o having to leave wvw to do so, & also provide possible additional entertainment.
For those that like their peace and quiet while they’re gaming, they simply tick the box next to “server chat” & make it go away.
In addition, WvW, PvE, PvX, GvG guilds would be able to recruit much easier.
Also, if this were to be implemented fully, it would be helpful if there was a slight shade differential in the color to immediately separate wvw requests, from pve chat. Just a slight shade/color difference so that it’s not obnoxious.

Exactly this what I meant and I realy hope it is concidered and possible.

Opinions on the Entire GW2 Patch Update?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: EdgarMTanaka.7291

EdgarMTanaka.7291

For those questioning my calling the Feature Update the NGE, here’s why I used that term:

The Star Wars Galaxies “New Game Enhancement” (I also heard it called New Game Experience) was a patch that made sweeping changes to SWG. The stated goals of the NGE included improving the leveling experience while making the game easier to understand for first time players. (Sound familiar?)

Part of the hate for the SWG NGE patch came from the fact that they had just released an expansion a couple of weeks before, and the NGE completely destroyed the expansion. SOE was forced to refund the expansion’s cost to a LOT of people. Needless to say, that’s not going to be a problem here.

Is calling the feature patch the GW2 NGE a loaded reference? Well, yes. Not so much of a way of saying I hate the game, as it is a way of saying “tread carefully” to the Devs.

Myself, I’m about 50/50 on the patch. I hate the impact it will have on RP (including town clothes), but I like some of the ideas behind the merging of zones when needed and I love the new world boss schedule. I dislike the delay of traits until later in the game, but find the idea of having to hunt them down to be interesting, at least.

Why SWG failed so much wasn’t the actual idéa NGE as I know it, it was becouse of bugs they couldn’t fix becouse they where lost in the old coding and the old programmers didn’t work there anymore to fix it. What I mean is that it’s not the actuall fetures that ruined the game but all the millions of bugs and that nothing realy happened to fix it. I Liked SWG as it was but I played SWG:NGE for a few month more before I quit becouse of all the bugs and how bad the new level system worked and with the old fondation.

Anyhow… Call it what you wan’t and IMO this will be quite a little New Game Experience, some have even saved a spot to create a new character to level when the update hits.
- I have to say I am so excited about the new dye and wardrobe system! I have prepared with dyes, gear and I have even spread the word ^^
- The new Trait system isn’t realy a big deal of a change but I love that I don’t have to buy books and that I can do specific stuff to unlock the traits (Sounds so awesome), and last but not least easy re-trait! (Just waiting for templates now)
- MegaServer sounds realy nice but there are som stuff that needs some fixing but I am sure with a good amount of cunstructive feedback they will make it just fine.
- Sigil, runes, crit damage fit and the rest is realy wanted and I can’t wait to see how much PvP will change after this.

I don’t think it will be an NGE misstake.

I don’t mind the town clothes change… So no-one wants the solution statement is untrue.

Just as you say that everyone wont like the new feture I say everyone I know thinks this new feture will be awesome, sure the old townclothes will be different but it can’t be helped and this was how I understood it the best way to do it and I beleave them.

I find this change wonderfull and is the fruit of our feedback so saying that feedback does nothing is bull.

Yes, devs doesn’t make a changes the first day people complain or have an objection to their idéas but most of the times when we give our feedback it will have impact on the game. So continue and give feedback and let them know what you think is good and bad, someday your opinion may be what the devs concider and implement.

Maby in the future our townclothes will be just as you want them, who knows?

First time was in CoE failing on those lazers though.

About that bolded part ^^
My girlfriend broke all of her gear there. Hehe the lasers are realy annoying the first-time learning to jump there and don’t think you will die to much.

Comparing those lists to GW2 shows how truly horrible GW2s list of added content really is. It doesnt even come close to one expansion, much less two that were launched in the same timeframe as GW2s “living” story.

Not to mention there wasn’t a cash shop nickel and dimeing the players at every chance they could. Just where is all the money going to?

It wasn’t? I am pretty sure I bought more character slots to be able to make an Assasin, Ritualist, Dervish and a Paragon. …. Exactly just what I fealt I had to spend my money on in GW2, character slots. Except for that, everything else I bought in the store has never been needed or something Anet told me I have to get.

Well maby there hasn’t been 2 expansion worth of permanent content in GW2, but I have realy enjoyed playing/following the Living Story and it has kept me entertained far more than any other MMO I have played.

One more thing I wanna add about this with lot’s of new stuff. I have recently had a few friends starting to play and what I think is best is that they don’t have to play 2 expansion worth of content to get to where I am or to participate in the next Living story.

I wouldn’t mind more permanent stuff and I know there will be since we are saying there has to be Let’s se what will happen after the release of the comming competitors.

Epidemic: kicked for not playing heavy

We kicked a noobish 1k AP bearbow ranger today, who joined for our ‘experienced zerker only!’ post. His pet took aggro from the golems in SE P1, we were waiting for them to leash into that corner so we could clear them fast. Our entire party almost wiped, we got it done but barely. He apologized lamely after it was done.. on the plus note we got P3 done without any trouble

I have now learned to only trust rangers with a sizeable amount of AP. Because they have at least played the game long enough to realize why groups hate rangers :x

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/So-much-Ranger-Hate-Just-sad/page/4#post3572746

Hehe fun :P

I have 12k AP and I go with Long Bow, Sword + Horn Zerker —- I don’t usually do dungeons with my ranger but when I do I manage them without death and I do pretty well with my ranger … (Havent done Fractals with him though).

I actually realy hate that people use AP as a reason to see how good a players is, since it doesn’t prove much at all.

This game is meant to be played the way you want. Sure there are better builds but if people don’t like the way you play, they wheren’t worth your time anyway.
But it is never wrong to improve and find out better builds you may like so if there are players who kindly gives you advice, do listen to them atleast.

Agree with OP.

Now as I have stated in a few posts I have got alot of my friend to start / or try again Guild Wars 2 and most of them say ‘When will I get to choose traits’ and I answer ‘At level ten’. Well since my friends asks me this question I bet they are intolerant and wanna try out traits and in my opinion the game isn’t as fun as it is when you can start to trait your character.

IMO Level 11-16 works well as a start to gain trait points imo I don’t see the point at starting at 30.

[VOTE] Is Guild Wars 2 heading a good way?

GW2 is a gem-shop software with some neat 3D landscapes around to give some kind of meaning to the virtual commodities sold and where a monetization manager has the last word in “game” design to get those last bucks out of our pockets and the rest of the team stares at metrics trying to understand what GW2 is.

Thats the only clear direction I can see here…

Just that none is forced to buy anything and the items aren’t necessary for any kind of progression. QQ’ing about the gemshop is even worse than saying GW2 is dead and Anet paid money to the media to rate it good.

Brings me back to WoW days when people said it was a sinking ship with nothing valueable in it.

“pets your shoulder” Good boy, goood buuoy! You have done well!
Those evil creatures attacking your little susu…
Now go play! And remember, dont stick it in there again!

BTW, thanks for agreeing

What!? I Agree with nGumball.1283 and I wanted to see a good argument against this since so many are sure that the Gemstore is robbing us? So at your last comment I don’t get it at all what you are on about.

Didn’t wanna respond to threads like this anymore but since it doesn’t get locked I may as well also put my YES in here!

And since so few can follow OP’s only a YES or NO asnwer I will too comment why I say YES.

- I have played since Pre-release and this game has just gotten better and better.
- More or less every two weeks have something new too look farward to.
- I love the ammount of communications Devs have to their playerbase compared to other game-companies.
- More and more of my friends are starting to enjoy GW2 even those who played it at release but quit after a while is comming back.
- I play a few other MMO’s but GW2 is the one that has me hooked.
- There is so much to do for a player like me, I don’t have to farm the best gear to stand a chance or atleast to feel like a good player at WvW or sPvP wich I have to in the other MMO’s I play.
- Combat is still mobile and flows like a river compared to many other MMO’s.
- The world is beautifull and perfect and exploring it once again with my friends is a blast.
- My guild is fantastic, I wouldn’t leave them.
- I love the world of Guild Wars, the story, the music, the artwork, the sceneries, the races.
- If there is not enough players on my server and I want to be around lot’s of players I can just guest to another server (What other MMO allowes that?).
- The game is FREE and everything so far has been free.
- No stupid vertical progress and expansion packs that gives you the impression ‘I have to grind more levels and armor to keep up’.
- I have a wide area of choices, if there is something I find booring I don’t need to do it (Most of it).

I can agree with many bad things some say about this game but they are very far away from making this game not heading in a good way since as I first said ‘I have played since Pre-release and this game has just gotten better and better.’.

The worst stuff I can think of is:
Condition damage is being useless in big fights with only one enemy and Power/Precision/Crit-Damage builds is and still will be the builds people will go for. Though I don’t care since I like to play the game how I want and not to roflstomp my way through everything and have no fun doing it. Oh and yes the Defiant, I don’t mind it being on bosses but… Why a Defiant stack of 15-30 on bosses!?

Can we not use this term in blog posts? I think it gives the wrong impression, especially in regards to WvW, and PvP, like you’re supposed to hunt down your fellow players, and kill them for the loot. I think it’s distasteful. The players are human beings, not anonymous, walking bags of loot. Sure, you have to kill people in WvW, and in PvP, but we shouldn’t call it “hunting.”

You say The players are human beings, not anonymous, walking bags of loot..

This actually terrifies me… Since it sounds like you can’t tell the difference between a game and reality becouse;
- The characters you “defeat” is just pxels and coding, not real people (The player is safe behind a PC).
- All player are and should be Anonymous. In WvW you can’t see your enemies names but there is also this, like my account name EdgarMTanaka.7291 is not my real name and my characters isn’t named after me iether.
- Players are not bags of loot but by defeating a player character they have a chance of dropping a bag of loot.

I call bull on this. If players were walking bags of loot then how come no matter how I kill someone in WvW I have yet to be able to loot that fancy helm or those neat shoulder pads!

What are you calling bull on? Since if you read my post you see I claim ‘Players are not bags of loot’

Threads like this should be locked and deleated.

Ofcourse that is why this game has so many leavers in your opinion!
But there is no truth to it what so ever, you have no fact and no real numbers. Someone said over 70% has left most servers accept one server!? How the kitten-in-a-deep-place could he/she even know that!? Not even the devs could know that. I mean when I started playing this game (headstart player) I joined a guild made by my friends and their friends. A few months later the guild was dead, all my friends had gone back to WoW, Lotro, SwtoR and other games… I am still in this guild but I don’t represent it, but I check it now and then and when I look more and more old players are comming back. This game is free, you don’t pay sub so there is no point in “leaving” the game and when all other games are booring you come back and play GW2 since it is all FREE! So once again how can someone say that “this many has left the game” when the only ones who have left this game is those who have terminated their accouts and those who are perma-banned.

I don’t know what’s so special with last week, but I got alot of questions about GW2 and now two are playing the game as I write this and one is just waiting for his salary and then he will play. They have also said that their friends has been looking at it and as they now have friends playing the game they will buy it. Well this is just my life but this happens all around the world and once you bought this game you can more or less come back whenever you wan’t.

hmm… Did I make any sence…
After reading and seeing what is comming in april I would be supriced if no one will be logging in and having a look. If the update is good they may stay for a while and give A-net a few $

And players like me who didnt join on vent :P

But it was a realy good server IMO… I am on a high pop server and it is not dieing, we all just guest if we cant make it… make use of the mechanics the game provide you.

Isn’t this rather obvious? People want lots of new content that isn’t about collecting 500 of this or that. LS failed to deliver that, so they want an expansion.

oh? Hmm… So may I ask you what LS has been about collecting 500 or even 100 of stuff to compleate or even achieve the LS meta?

And I wanna add:
Compared to many other MMO’s where every expansions is about to level up, farm new tokens or grinding new gear to compleate the new instances and compleate the new instances over and over again until you get the best gear in the game (Intil the next expansion).

Well if we don’t care about story…

How I understand this is that this game is more horisontal than vertical and means that adding new zones will just devide players up between even more maps.
Anet don’t want GW2 to be a game where new players play for them selfes and old players play in new zones.

IMO every expansion I have played in other games usually lasts 3 weeks before they get booring or repeating with grinding content (Like new gear). The LS for the most time keeps me entertained for a week atleast (sure not all LS has been entertaining).
I don’t feel the need for an expansion, I realy like how the LS works but I wouldn’t say no to a new class but that would be like a bonus.

If a game has an expansion 2 times a year and it gives me 2 months entertainment for a year all together. I would rather choose the LS model that gives me about 5 months of entertainment.

For me it does not matter if I get a new class or new skills as long as they can keep me interested in the game and so far they have succeded in that.

This is ofcourse all my opinion.

I don’t wanna quote now.. since I might be quite alot of you but.

I hate to rezz dead people in zergs atleast near WPs.
- Dead people near WP’s are just lazy and it is not about a few silver (If it is you die alot).
- Dead people may be AFK and die again.
- Some people just can’t dodge and dies again after a rezz.
- Rezzing dead people takes away my effort to the battle in a DPS-race (Zerg battles with timers).
- people who type: ‘rez pls’ in the middle of a zerg is totally ignored for the rest of that battle.

Why I rezz dead people
- Dead people are very far away from a WP.
- I assume that the dead player is good.
- It is my friend and is far from a WP or else I tell him/her to WP.
- I see someone in downed state and I try to rezz but there are a stupid corpse in the – — way (Ofc I stop to rezz that lazy mother but when many players do that it gives the —- lazy ones hopes of getting rezzed).
- I am out of combat and away from danger.

I do on the other hand rezz people during the Knight’s becouse so few players go down and usually many others rezz and it takes no time at all. And WP’s is not very far away but IMO it’s far enough away. I myself though WP’s and run back.

Another point to that; What happens if everyone stops typing: ‘Dead people WP!!!’, ‘WP kitten dead kitten WP you kitten kitten kittens you only kitten for the rest of us kitte… um… people!’ and starts rezzing people instead. Just what I mentioned above, when many helps to rezz dead players it takes no time at all, it would almost take more time to type and tell people to WP.

Why the best?
The story is awesome and realy cool. The start from the attack at Lions Arch to the whole last fights with the knights and the rest.
It is so engaging and awesome I realy love it.

Why the worst?
Bugs? and you have to rely on others or craft a stupid backpack. Well first the Assault Knight bug giving no loot (If it even is a bug since there havent been a word from Devs about it has it). And then the when all knights are dead you can enter and if they are not dead you can enter with a friggin backpack.
I wouldn’t mind to fight these knights and fail and not get in to finish the story if I got something for atleast killing let’s say one or two knights… But HEY I have killed 13 and got loot once. I wouldn’t mind getting no loot if there was no timer to kill all three knights so we could get a shot at doing the next phase.
Also in that phase inside … If you fail you get nada and well try again in an hour stupid looser.

Timer timer timer timer TIMER timer timer timer timer timer! Hey why not put a timer to level to level 80 with our new toons and if we don’t they will deleate themself!

Sorry huff huff uff… Had to vent myself… -_-

For everyone reading this topic and having map completion, try and remember a few renown heart NPC names.
A few out of 300. Surely there are some memorable ones. They can’t all be insipid.
If you can, then congrats, your exploring experience was great.
I for one felt like it was a chore doing the map completion. Severe lack of personality from every zone map dwellers was a major disappointment. Lifeless.

Does it beat the kill 10 rats hubs? Sure it does. The whole concept is great. The final result however, just meh.

Renown hearts is not instead of Quests. Dynamic Event’s are! And I can remeber alot of Event stories I realy like. Posting them would not prove anything since I could mind aswell just /wiki them so you will just have to take my word for it.
But read the bold text again, that’s whats most important.

I don’t.

I love the way GW2 are.

What you say that regular quests has story and yadayada… Lot of times they don’t. Like take the latest game I just left where there where over 400 new Quests for the new expac and what was these quest? Well in the middle of a big war the maid needed the heroes help to gather the dirty plates on the tables. After that the locals needed help to gather materials (Wood, Cloth, Hide and more) to survive when they have to flee their town. The quests before that you had to make friends with the locals and to do that you had to play goodguy/badguy with them. Sure the stories was okay and I get it why I helped the people but I didn’t have fun doing it and the story didn’t speak to me at all.

But in GW2 if I run in to an event, something happens, they talk, they do something, I can do something if I wan’t and when it is done they talk some more and I will see a living story right before me. Not a crappy Dialogue window with a voiceover telling me what has happaned and that I have to gather 10 helmets to prove I can kill something.

Though I wouldn’t mind more stories in the way of personal story. I realy like the personal story but I don’t wan’t quests like something to look ‘oh have I done this quest or that quest?’ No! I don’t wan’t that. A few more personal stories like;
- Priory, Whisper, Vigil – What happened after!?
- Help out Destinys edge, choose who’ to help.
and so on.

And I just love the Living Story!!! Don’t scrap that concept ever Anet!

Love the design, can’t afford it yet…

But… Both me and my girlfriend hope that one day the armor will be even without the blue… It’s pretty revealing … it reveals quite alot of skin and it is not logic at all as an armour but this game and most fantasy games isn’t so… :P

I mean there are celebs in magazines and pictures everywhere nowdays that shows more skin … It’s not like kids don’t see skin and so on.

Though truth to be told, if I had a nicer body I would be running around showing alot of skin IRL

a few weeks after the game had gone live I did that JP and swore to never do it ever again. And I have never been there since.

To PvP in a JP is a cool idéa but the fun ends when you are in situations as OP.
If you are stuck in a well and needs to get up you have to climb that slippery wall, but at the top of the well there is your enemies and they are trying to shoot you with guns… They say: ’It’s fair you can fight back!’

And still there are people on this topic that are still saying: ‘Stop whining and fight back!’ haha funny.

There would have been different if both sides where fighing on the same conditions but this is not the case at all, here it is the first one to a safe location can grief.

No this JP is just griefers paradice and has nothing to do with skills, it is just a little amount of skills and alot of luck to not end up being greifed.
Anet should implement some sections in the JP where you can activate traps head of you aswell, to rid off the greifers. … Or just make Obsidan PvE.

Yet people continue to be surprised (or just unhappy) that Zerker remains as meta.

And it will continue, since all defensive stats were intentionally made to scale pitifully.

Hehe depends on what you do in the game but yea more or less true but anyway I go Cleric with my guardian and I get totaly wasted by spams of 25 might stacked attacks from enemies, I don’t complain since I know how to survive but poor thiefs and other build that are made for DPS. Just becouse Zerker is some kind of meta and everybody uses it and everyone else works against it does not mean no one is allowed to have zerker gear iether. But in LA Zergs it is impossible to read all the attacks enemies does and there is so many attacks that your evades won’t last that long.

But this is how a zerg works:
Alive – stack for buffs and dodge for survival.
Downed – Kill an enemie that is about to die asap or hope to be rezzed.
Dead – Waypoint (Don’t lie and wait for a rez if the battle is ongoing).

IMO in Zergs like LA there are no good players, there is just Luck.
But the fights like Marionette bosses 1-5 is planning and strategy to the fullest.

You aint getting any penalty for being downed so you are not dead until you are dead.

Just speak to the Black Lion Weapon vendor with the ticket in your inventory.

You’ll get an option to see an additional screen. This was covered in the patch notes.

A nice and thanks!
Well I didn’t pay attention to this in the patch notes since 1. it wasn’t my ticket (I didn’t know she had it) 2. She showed it to me only yesterday and she never reads patch notes. But I told her to save it just in case.

Even though I protect Anets desicion I do agree that something should be made to make glory boosters into tokens or something… Like they made with tournament tickets…? So I can understand how griefed some people feels over this.

But if we compare this to whats happening to glory there would be merchants selling all or atleast most gear for gold and other neat stuff I would need for PvE and WvW.

We talking about glory boosters here. They just gonna delete em without compensation. There is nothing u can buy with glory boosters.

Aaaand you forgot the whole point of the comparison…

Yes glory booster will be rubbish but why do you still have them? You saved them? You got more than you could use?

I have saved alot of stuff in PvE like Captain’s Council Commendation wich I saved alot since I didn’t find them usefull at the time… But now I got over 500 and they are totaly useless… They havent even said if they will come back or not what I know of.

And the Vote badges, I converted my to 50/50 Evon and Ellen and I threw over 300 of these togheter just a few weeks ago.

I bought myself a Endelss continue coin for SAB and now I have over 70 regular continue coins that is totaly useless.

My girlfriend has a Dragon Jade ticket, she forgot to trade it and now it seems it’s useless.

Also the same with fortune scraps… I dunno if they will be back.

Can’t think of any more stuff but I think there is more.

Finally the day before gold will be removed I would use it all up and I would have alot of neat stuff I wan’t And the next day I can enjoy the new system Whooohooo!!!

Nope. At least if u wanted many salvage kits. Auction would be empty. No gem conversion. No Items in bltc, because everyone would just cancel their sells (people arent that stupid). Even if u would be 1-st and buy legendary, u do realize, that u just cursing other people to deal with your useless gold?

I payed for the game – I enjoy(ed) the game.
That’s where I invest my time in a game not to farm glory boosters, I got them as I played and I am a casual PvP player and have over 100 of them.

And someone talked about: ‘What if they said copper, silver and gold to replace it with something new’. Atleast I wouldn’t bother. Once again, it’s not like I farmed Gold boosters… … And… Uh… who would farm Glory boosters and store them to save them for another day. Just like many other players I have saved my glory booster and also forgot to use them until they announced that it will be removed, but it is my darn mistake for saving them.

This is an MMO, a game where there is changes all the time. Don’t be supriced if someday the game won’t even be able to be played anymore or … Well I am an old SWG player, don’t be supriced if the game totaly becomes a whole other game.
Well sure it is sad that all our Glory boosters will just “poouff” but as I said, you havent paid for your glory booster (and if you have you can get it back), you have paid to play the game. You … don’t … even … own … your … character!

res pls

Posted by: EdgarMTanaka.7291

EdgarMTanaka.7291

Quite simply put, the people who are scaling and ruining events by not running back are not the kind of people to actually visit the forums, especially not for feedback on their gameplay decisions.

Sadly true.

But realy I agree with OP that not only it is annoying with people spamming ‘Res pls’ but when a few players(4-8) are fighting for their lives while more than 20-30 players are whiped and lies there just waiting to hopefully be ressed by these surving eight players.

Also players that not yet heave learned to check enemies buffs, like the molten protectors that uses that awfull protecting ring and 90% of all players are still trying to hurt the champion inside the circle for the whole duration.

And players who don’t know that you can dodge but still they expect you to rezz them when they are dead. tsss… Well the big laser attack is deadly to WoW-players atleast.

I gladly rezz players who are downed and trying their best trying to get back on their feet and I have also been helped back up on my feet many times from downed state.
But when there is 20-30 dead players and someone is downed by them… I am sorry buddy but I will try help you kill a mob to get you on your feet but there is no way in hay I can rezz you

About that, a suggestion: When ressing in a croud of dead players PLEASE make ressing downed players a prio.

Guild Wars 2: Then and Now

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

EdgarMTanaka.7291

I just hope ESO and Wildstar doesnt follow the path Anet did, as i do see myself moving there as well, unless Anet decides to get off there high chair and actually sit with us, the player base.

ESO is already a major grind game for getting skill alone its at least 10hr for the first 10 level it speeds up a bit but your still looking at a major time gap. Wildstar is a raiding treadmill end game system where they will always be a new loot set to get to go after a new level of raid.

I think you have no idea what a grind or a treadmill is if you call what GW2 has as such. GW2 is the most casual mmorpg out there to date and i do not see how ESO and Wildstar with know events and time spend will be “better” if your main complainer for GW2 is what these 2 games use a lot.

How will it be any different then GW1?

Also Grinding treadmill, have you tried to farm for karma reciently?
Its extremely tiring and everything end game requires karma from Oby shards.

The only other option of getting Oby shards is though FOTM.
Have you played a lvl40+ Dredge map?
Why did they need to fix dredge? Why did they need to increase the spawn rates?
Have you also seen the loot tables on Fotm which is driving the entire community insane?

When i first started on the 3 day head starts, you didnt need to grind.
You eventually got everything you wanted over a much shorter time.
However now, you need to grind, or follow mindless World Events in large zergs.

The game has changed so much from launch, that its not aimed at people just coming in. I really feel sorry for the new people who want to get a legendary. They dont know how much more difficult it is to attain then it was even 6 months ago.

Anyhow i threw those games out as competition, not exclusions to the anti grind.
If i confused you in my statement i applogize, as those games never stated they were not a grind. However GW2 was stated by the creators to NOT be a grind, which it has now turned into.

Point by point.
GW1 was not an mmorpg it was a HUB game like MH it was not a true open world like a real mmorpg is. It also had no TP and or AH what ever you cair to call it so there was no need to be fearful of destroying an economically.

Next point:
There is no treadmill in GW2 for a real treadmill you need to have both better gear (that is a full higher set what in GW2 is more of a +1 systom then a full set higher) and you need stronger mobs that NEED the higher gear to kill (only thing close to that is fractals and you do not need a full set to run most of the max level fractals).

The grind as you call it is not a NEEDED one its more of a want grind even GW1 had a want grind. Player needs something to work for if that is looks then its going to be looks if its a +1 gear set that give nearly nothing over all then it will be a +1 set. The the thing about real mmorpg you must keep ppl playing as long as you can. GW1 did not need to do this because it was not an mmorpg nor did Anet think of it as an mmorpg.

Your saying its too hard? It should be running a level 40 event should be something that takes work to do and you should WANT to run it if you worked to get to that level. If your just doing it for the gear the lower levels give you far more for time spent and that how it should be. That what Fractals are for hard content for ppl who want it.

First few days no one knew what they where doing every thing seems great when no one knows what going on but once you work it out ppl find the “best” ways of running things but ppl get it stuck in there heads that the only way to run things is the “best” way not the “fun” way. You could run events how you want at any time but what your doing is ASKING for things to be such where ppl cant chose to play events the way they want to. I for one like doing events with new ppl the zerg as you call it to me is a hell of a lot better then solo farming and trying to compete with other ppl to it make you hate to see other ppl but in GW2 your better off playing with other ppl so you WANT to see and WANT to play with other ppl the ideal behind playing an mmorpg.

My point is that you are putting thous games out there as if they are going to be better but you seem to hate the main things behind though games so what your saying at the end of the day is you hate grind and treadmill that you think there is in GW2 but your ok with grind and treadmill in other games that more then likely you have not played and know next to nothing about.

Wow, just logged on to say I love this post! ^

mesmers ruining pvp

in PvP

Posted by: EdgarMTanaka.7291

EdgarMTanaka.7291

Hmm… Have you played Mesmer? Do you know how many clones/illusions they can have at the same time? Well they can have 3 clones or Illusions active. To lower that number would damage that class a great deal. What if they only let you use two Minions and not four at the same time? And you claim this game to be non-tactical PvP… It makes me laugh since if you just use your brain and figure out the mesmers patterns and skills you can quickly see what mesmer is the real one.

I play quite alot mesmer in PvP atm but I notice alot of players have figured out my pattern and know exactly where I am and my build is made to do alot of damage when players kills my clones so I notice this pretty easy.

The classes I have the most troubles with is necros and Engineers. I don’t wanna be insulting but LTP your class before you go suggesting to nerf Mesmers whole mechanic.

EotM map feels like PvE w/ a little WvW

in The Edge of the Mists

Posted by: EdgarMTanaka.7291

EdgarMTanaka.7291

SNIP

my god you managed to turn 4 points into a kitten novel.

1. the map is very large. Unlike the main maps this map is multi tiered. there are islands floating above and below others all connected with bridges and it is quite possible to get lost or disorientated first time through due to the size and intricacy of the map.

2. the NPC’s are not over powered at all. Those grawl use this;

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Defiant_Stance

You just need to learn to play and read the mobs mechanics instead of mashing away. The champions in this map are designed to be fought in groups and require a modicum of skill. incidentally if your worried about falling then do not be an idiot and get bated by a roaming mesmer/engie into walking near an edge.

3. I could see a zoom function on the cannons being exploited. Trial and error is simply the best way to learn the distances. P.S. you can put a sentry turret in the area you want to aim at. near a gate for example then aim for the orange dots on your mini map.

4. Lastly and most ridiculous. Please explain how this map encourages blobbing when.

A> objectives award points on cap (40 for a tower for example +15 for the first tick), thus benefiting lots of smaller groups that can cap multiple objectives at once over one big blob that can only cap one objective at a time. For example if a blob of 80 caps a tower they get 55 points for there score. Where at the same time say 4 groups of 10 cap for example one tower and a 3 generators net around 175 points for there score.

B> the map is riddled with small walkways and alternate paths that make covertly traversing the map far quicker and safer (some of those bridges are really thin and windy) for smaller groups than big blobs.

C> My favourite pass-time. blowing up bridges as the big blob runs over it.

4. The one thing i agree with you on. They need to introduce Language channel chat options.

Finally my own opinion on this topic is that yes there is allot of mechanics in this new map and the NPC’s are far more complicated but i believe this makes the map more engaging and keeps players engaged in playing instead of the blob mentality of, Run to point B from point A steam roll objective. Run to point C from B repeat. run from point C to A . repeat. A,B, repeat, B,C repeat, repeat repeat repeat,re….. you get the idea. EOTM is a beautiful map and is for more interesting and engaging to play on than the standard maps. You are also going to have to face the facts that NPC’s and there events are part of the WVW game mode. If you want pure stream lined Player Vs Player action then i think you should go do some sPvP instead as the fact remains that this aspect of WVW will never change. Its part of the game mode and always will be.

Good points actually.

But my answer too 4.
A: Score? What for? Who cares? Not the blob atleast!
B: Blob is rarely using the bridges that can be blown so GL blowing a bridge up while blob is heading to your main keep while typing on chat ‘Badlands Blob on the move to Overgrown Fane’ (Atleast where I where nor I or anyone else thought of putting up catas or trebs to take down Badlands – Overgrown bridge) Few minutes after that The blob is inside bashing away on the elementals and just a few players are there defending and after I am dead I have a look where our other players are … Well they are down capturing stuff in Badlands. It all works just like a merry go round.

Well that is the impression I have got of EotM playing for a full day… (I am just around r30 combining all my chars ranks >.< So I don’t have much WvW experience.

I’m personally so far disappointed - no, that word is too weighty/ unimpressed fits it better – from the new Map.
… “Cut out” …ways Stability if you don#t want to end up too easily as a free kill, weird Map design.

That are the points I hope Anet will work on. My 2 cents as a first impression that I’ve got from EotM.

^ This!!! So much this!!! ^
(Had to cut out alot of the text to be able to write myself but Orpheal’s whole post is true imo)

Everything is so true accept for the Mega cannon becouse I havent tried it but I see Orpheal’s point since I have seen how the cannon works on a ‘Preview’ stream.

EotM has so much potential to be something more and I was looking so much forward to play on it… But in the end it was just another Zerg worse than in the other WvW where people don’t even listen to eachother becouse of language barriers

Also I wan’t to add… Dunno how to fix it though but I have got the feeling that since there is no realy special reward for winning people does not care to defend… The majority of people seems to be just running around capturing to farm Karma, Empyreal Star’s and stuff.

April is not summer.

^ This.

Major content is said to be released after the 4 Scarlet LS’s and one has been done and today the second one is here. So that leaves us about 6 weeks to the Major update.

2 more weeks for update 3, another 2 weeks for last one and the last 2 weeks for the major update.

And so we have another thread filled with people who knows exactly how Anet runs and how the should run their company. Wish they where as smart like you guys.

Skyhammer - a fair sPvP map?

in PvP

I blame myself for being pushed/pulled of the map.
I like the map becouse it brings more than just character skills and dodge in to the game, it’s also placement and the ability to predict enemy movements.
Atleast every class I have played PvP can push, Pull or fear and every class has skills to negate them.

in PvP

Evan with whole respect stop talking and showing us stuff and start doing smt

Even if you say you would want to be respected I think you are very disrespectfull.
You actually think the Program teams, Edit teams, Voice actors, sound teams and a whole lot of other teams as they mentioned at the stream. Do you actually think that they only sit on their butt doing nothing when Lesh is trying to communicate and please the community with answers to our questions?

After he has done this do you think he is trapped in that recorded stream and just talks and talks and show us the same powerpoint over and over again?
They both showed us how long time it takes to make a map and how complex it is to make it work and even when it is released they are not perfect so how in the world would you expect them to just crap out maps and gamemodes?

Actually I think some new game modes are long overdue but as seeing that stream I am confident in Anet that in the future we will se new game modes and probably this year.

Is the new Glory rewards vendor being removed

But will glory be removed too?

I got the impression that just Glory boosters was going to be removed… Better keep an eye out before they remove the glory then so I can use it before it’s gone.

I want a precursor quest, not a craft

There is not even a good logic to craft a Precursor… To fit logic let people be able to craft precursor replicas (Only cosmetic) and as OP says make a great story of it so there is something to work for rather than craft for. Crafting is not fun and I want fun.

Great post OP.

i think it’s ok to blame full condi built people. especially when a worm head is at 5% and you can’t help thinking if it might’ve died if 5 people in the group contributed more than double digit dps.

Everyone seems to speak of Marionette and suddenly you come and go Wurm :P
But blame the condition builds, thank you for that
I have been playing not full but a main focus on condition build with my main since she hit level 80 and I find it to be the build I play best and handle the best. In dungeons and events with less people I usually hand out more or less most damage of all. I try to get in groups where I am alone or one of two condition dealers so am pretty proud of my build.

I like to use my main for new events and I am truly one of many players out there dealing condition damage and just becouse of that I don’t wan’t to go get me another new Ascended or atleast Exotic gear for pure damage.

Talking like that is like saying ‘I blame players becouse they do not play Guardians’.
