Game ended up being more grindy...

Time… It makes you play the game longer and keep you updated on the new changes and maby you will spend a little $ in the store.
That’s a good reason to why some stuff is gated per day, like laurels, dungeons (soon) and other stuff and you don’t have to farm them to accomplish them, you don’t have to farm to have fun in this game, the picture people have of having fun is bragging rights! ‘When I get my Legendary I have got everything!’ and the it will sound like this ‘This game is so booring, there is nothing new and I got everything in just a week!’.

When things are timegated or takes a long time to do it is meant for you to compleate it by keep on playing the game, not to grind it as fast as possible to reach your goal so you are content and can brag for an hour and then put the game away.

It’s not A-net that makes the content to be grinded or farmed it is the players mind.

No matter what they will do there will always be people who want’s it all and start to grind, to get rid of grind they should remove progress from the game and only focus on skills and story. No levels, no gear, no rewards, no score, nothing only plain old hack and slash with a story.

I don’t feel forced to farm, and I don’t feel like I farm though I honestly can say I have done some grinding in Southsun during that living story… ye know… :P
I got 89 Laurels atm and I have spent over a hundred and I have never ever done a Daily without doing something else too, maby just one of those 5 ones could be ‘I am almost done with the daily but I need one more, oh, crafting daily’ I go craft ten logs.

Legendary is marely fluff and most of them are ugly imo and I wouldn’t care at all for them if it wasn’t for a little chest in the main menu, but I am cerntanly not playing the game to get the Legendary I am playing the game becouse I like it, I like the story, I like the engine, I like the players, I like the community, I like the Living Story, I like most of it.

Why doesn't Anet Close Low End Servers?

Wrong, this from someone who has been playing WvW from the start

There can only be as much players than WvW allow, how do you know that there are more or less players just becouse you play WvW?
I know I play in a less populated server and it is usually queue for WvW at peak times

I don’t thinks Spehss has any facts but if he/she does I am sorry, but from playing GW2 I have noticed an increase of player activity and alot of rookie-new players in our Guild.

New Dungeon System = Inflation?

You can only do the same path once per day first of all.
And depending on the length of the dungeons it gives 1-3 gold.
Dunno about inflation but yes I think that if you wanna go farm 20 dungeons for gold you can get a good amount of money and it could be better than CoF in the end, but I rather farm 20 different path’s than CoF p1 20 times if I would farm.

I am not good at math but if you could farm the same mobs for 3g an hour as it is now, for 10 hours that would give you 30g and that is around 20-40g so that wouldn’t change how things are now then? would it?

But I hear you can do CoF p1 in less than 30min and get lots of gold, so I think compared to doing CoF p1 as people do now with Gold find+ compared to how it will be with the new reward system I think it will be less gold earned per hour.

Just my speculations and no facts.

Does anyone else feel that gw2 is imbalanced?

IMO I don’t feel like classes are imbalanced but Condition damage is in many angles.

1. Takes alot of damage and some classes can’t cure it good enough. (leads to class imbalance)
2. Can apply more than one condition in one attack and also stack duration.
3. Can’t be applied to buildings or object making condition builds weak in some situations in PvE and WvW too I guess.
4. Some classes condition counters can render condition builds more or less useless according to condition classes.
5. Poison, burn, confuse and bleed cast from some npcs are doing to much damage and it’s hard to know what condition is killing you.

Not that I wan’t it all changed since I play condition classes myself but that’s how I see it.

I remember when I played WoW and came to a house out in the nowhere and inside there was a sick girl and her dad and her dad asked me to find his daugter a potion to heal her sickness.
I whent searching for this cure and found it and returned with it, gave the girl the potion and she was cured! Yay! I fealt like a hero! 3 seconds later she goes back into the bed and becomes sick and her father forgot my deeds and mourns his daughters fate.
Alot of quests are built like this in every MMO.

Of every deed I do in guildwars 2 I feel like I do something, I help people out and I save people, sadly event’s return but realy that isn’t the problem is it? OP’s point was the ammount of Festivals Living Story, but well… There have been a whole lot of living story where you have been a hero and saved and helped alot, not only once per living story but multiple times like in the molten outbreak part.

Really? How old are you people?

1. Elections are made without knowing any numbers until the day it’s time to count the votes.
2. If Anet rigged the election why would they even do this event?
3. In other threads Kiel supporters says Anet are on Evons side and gives all the fluff to Evons side.
4. We all have our reasons to vote, for the instance, for the WP cost and more and what’s more fun is that all Evon supporters I see are guessing that WP’s is the reason why people vote for Kiel.
5. Some players don’t care, some players just puts in this token 50/50 to get a chanse to compleate all Achievements.
6. There is a score 52% vs 48%, that doesn’t sound like a loss at all yet, me and my fiancee has alot of tokens stored and will vote when we are done, I am a Kiel supporter and she is a Evon supporter for our own reasons.

Double tap dodging?

People who double tap dodge are the kinda baddies who QQ constantly about Thieves killing them and are horrible at Jumping Puzzles.

My dodge is on Ctrl.

lol, some preconceptions I see.

I don’t have any problems with thieves and I play with an engineer build with an aim to have vigor up and refill my endurance as much as possible since I surive on “perma” Dodging.

And I have no problems with any jumping puzzle when it’s about fumble dodging, as I said it very rarely happens and that is two times in eleven months.

The only time I use keymap button for dodge is when I am going to do a dodge jump wich I learned from SAB

Now it’s time for my preconceptions then; People who use keymap button to dodge are not steady on their hands and always do mistakes by pressing wrong buttons and can’t see distances so they have to “fine-tune” their possition and are always slow at doing JP’s.
-I am joking though, it is just a playstyle and some are better this way or that way so you can’t determine if anyone is a bad player just becouse of this.

Thats how some people are, sadly it’s how this world works.

The other day I was doing shatterer I think, I dunno what happened but I got downed in the middle of the mass of attacking players and no one helped me, I had to rez myself. When someone goes down beside you you will always get the Ressurect icon so I don’t think they missed it.

I just have to live with it, there are truly alot of players that only thinks about themselfes and no one else, but that won’t stop me from being kind to other though.

So there are 4 days left until 1 August and GW2 didn’t get the 1 mil liked they wanted on facebook.

Reached theirs quite some time ago and they are not even open beta. Lol.

Plus Dragon Age Inquisition has over 1 mil votes and Is going to be released only in the fall of 2014 !!!! that tells which are the real deal. Another game that has over 1 mil votes is GTA 5, and is only going to be released in September….yeah the name says it all but still very impressive,people didn’t even get the game and cant wait it so bad. Still Dragon Age Inquisition is the most impressive in votes, until release will get 2 mil likes for sure. GW2 has almoust a year from release and still didn’t get a mil. That is a fail pretty much. That’s why I kept saying that it needs an expansion and fast. Because huge and I mean huge games are coming. And GW2 will be forgotten very fast. The gaming industry changes very fast and Anet still doesn’t know that or cant adapt to it, they just bring temporary mini games and stories…Please learn to adapt Anet to the changes that occur. Catch the other games from behind or gw2 will be placed on the last place soon. Very soon.

I saw a youtube clip about HYPE sadly I don’t remember it.

You know, you can always like what you read, see or hear but when you try the game, that’s another deal.
I remember the HYPE about GW2, every friend I know was going to buy it and their friends and we all was going to have a guild together and we was going to be a guild with over 100 friends of friends guild and the game came, one week later some of my friends powerleveled to level 80 and quit since they though they where done, and their friends quit too, it wasn’t WoW so they when’t back there or to their old homes in other MMO’s, we where only around 10 left in this 100 friends guild. These 90 others could have been all likes for GW2 before it was released but when they actually tried it and didn’t like it they didn’t “like” it anymore.

And you can’t compare games that is made for both console and PC and have a whole other ganre.
I know a lot of people who don’t like MMO’s and this is alot of poeple, they hate MMO since it takes to much commitment and time, so they rather play solo games and these people are much more than those who likes MMO’s.

IMO it was just a stupid comparison.

There are a few days to go, we won’t know until the day is here, will we?
But it’s pretty impossible but whatever.
They set up a goal and they didn’t achieve it, but that does not mean it’s unpopular, 3 of my friends havent liked GW2 on FB since one of them don’t use FB and the two others does not bother to like stuff on FB.

I have 7k and I have 8 chars maxed, one of each class, I have used all weapons alot and I am doing more or less every daily and monthly, I do all Living story and I wander the world with all my chars so I kill alot of different mobs every day ^^
I play some WvW and I play sPvP and also there doing dailies and Monthly if possible to do it without tPvP.
I try to get the cultural armors, I have all crafts on 400 and I salvage every salvage item and rare level 75-80 gear.
I have done all JP.
I have played for 1577h 44m over the past 11 months.

I have been thinking about a theory, I play on a quite low pop server and I helped my fiancee’s little brother the other day starting this game and he played a Charr in Aschalon and everywhere we wen’t there where players doing tasks and for each event there where atleast 4 players doing them (us excluded).

That’s when I started thinking about all these forum posts about empty maps and yadayada, those compairing ‘I play on a high-populated server and all maps are ghost-towns’, well it could be that all veteran players moved to this Highpopulated servers for WvW or to be on a highpop server so in the end the highpop servers are servers filled with veterans that has atleast one level 80 char and we all know that most level 80 players do not return to lowlevel maps, unless it’s a living story there :P

Anyway, when all players moved to this high-pop servers they get full and new players who would like to go to a high pop server are “Forced” to go to a lower pop server and also there are alot of players who like MMORPGstyle but don’t like to play with others than their “real” friends who goes to low pop servers.

Why Ascended Gear is a bad idea.

What am I missing, what am I doing wrong with my Ascended accesories?

I have poundered along time to iether get me an ascended ring for my Engi or my Guardian, since it does so little difference…

I think it was something like +8, +10 in stats for each accessory, and if I use a Defencive or Offencive WvW infusion i get +5 and that is +75 for five accessories, I don’t farm FotM so I don’t even bother for the backpiece but that has the most boost and from what I have seen on wiki it seems it about most +50?

I am doing something realy wrong since i don’t get these numbers thats so important…

Well in the far streach it will do a little more difference but I can’t imagine that just becouse there is an Ascended gear it will mean you have to get it or you are dead or ascended gear build is much greater than Exotic build so it renders the exotic build useless, just go with exotic for your alternative build until you get your second Ascended.

I hope you don’t want a new Legendary for all your builds too.

I don’t like the Ascended idéa iether from the beginning but it’s not that horrible as long as they don’t increase level cap or comes up with a nother tier after Legendary.

It’s realy sick that with every news Anet has to offer there is always a bunch who complains. This question has been up a long time and on the forums it has seemed like majority has wished for this.
And now when it is announced alot of players go balistic.
I am no elitist nor do I do alot of dungeons but when I do I feel like iether I have to choose to get a chance to better loot or doing better performance and I don’t like that.
I am totaly for this change, it is good and it is needed, what’s not needed is MF on Equipment.

Since this is a suggestion forum I am going to suggest that we could have an extra accesory slot, and that slot can only be equiped with a utility such as MF+, GF+, KF+.

Fotm = Infused Ascended gear?

Arah = Neat looking gear to some, and other stuff you can buy with Shard of Zhaitan.

sPvP = Not so good at rewards there but it seems you can win real good, read above posts.

World vs Kite

They have stealth buffs all over that map to help you avoid any griefing that’ll go down, not to mention if your map DOESNT have a keep, well you guys are just awful at WvW… Not to mention i believe they made it so you can’t build siege down there any more so there’s really not all that many things to stop you from getting it….

But oh no, god forbid you gotta work a little for an achievement! That’d be terrible!

Well there is a difference though, it’s not about working for an achievement … If I am good at jumping puzzles and I am almost done, I have worked for 20min finally figure out how to reach the top and once there I am killed by a group of griefers.
If you like to make a domino chainfall (Or whats it called) and you are almost compleate after 20min of putting all bricks up just as you want it, and suddenly a bully comes and kicks away every piece you had put up… Would you go ‘Oooh yea! Do that again, now I get some extra challange!’ … Doubt that.

If I hate playing PvP, why should I have to involve myself to achieve PvE content?

Now I like WvW and I like JP and I like PvE, what I don’t like is WvW JP… it’s like mixing Cocacola with Beer, both is good but it does not mix.
My sulotion to this is not to do it, but I won’t be silent about it since I do hate the idéa of the JP’s in WvW from start, I did them all once and I swore I will never do them again!

Sanctum Sprint Tips?

Heya, just managed to get all achievements on this one, so I will try to tell you my method.

1 – At the start of the race be sure to stand in line with a bag with a blue shield and the blue crystals and as soon the race starts use skill 2 two times as soon it’s of CD.
If you get skill 6, just save it and only use it when you see a sparky ball above your head. Also use skill 2 as soon as possible again and always aim for a bag with a blue shield.
When you get skill 4 (The master element thingy) use it and use skill 2 as much as possible just be sure to not run in to obstacles. Also still keep aiming for blue bags to recharge your skill 4 and skill 6.

When comming out from the beach area and moving up the hill aim you char in a straight line of the two orange crystals and use skill 2 to boost and end up taking a skill 2 booster, again aim your char through the waterfall and in a straight line as possible on the curvy bridge and boost through it all and receaving another bag with a blue shield, from here imo you should not use skill 2 if it’s boosted.

use skill 3 at the automatic thunder jump and as soon as you land use un-boosted skill 2 and take the right path to get another blue bag and after that turn you will just need to use skill 1 to jump once and aim to take the skill 1 booster and then use skill 1 again and push farward as much as possible and you will jump up two steps in one go.

Just follow the path and keep to the right wall untill you see a wind drawing on the wall, there use skill 1 (Hopefully you have aquired another skill 1 booster) and jump up on the ledge and walk out on the bamboo and take the orange crystal and follow the next bambo until you reach a ledge with an skill 2 booster, don’t take it just jump to the right over the turning doors and on to the bridge take as many blue crystals as possible and use skill 2 with causion and also try to pick up blue bags.

At the end of this bridge it’s almost impossible to not take a fake-power up and if you are not 1st place you have to be causious about fake-power ups on the bambo sticks, there is one to the left and one to the right, take the one that hopefully don’t have a fake-power up placed there and if you have one you place one there yourself XD.

Next is the place when the level changes so I have no realy good strategy there than just use the needed skills to get through Iether it’s 1 to jump platforms, 2 to speed through waterfalls or 3 to thunder jump platforms.

after that I think it’s time for a skill 2 through a waterfall and directly after that is a skill 3 auto thunder jump and after that thunder jump if you have endurance do a small skill 2 and aim for the next skill 3 auto thunger jump and during the jump start to aim a new skill 3 manual thunder jump to the nearby platform go there, after that you need to do a skill 1 jump up the ledge and run farward towards the bag with a blue shield and there use skill 3 and manually jump out on the round platform and jump of that one with a regular jump towards the continuing bridge.

Now you should be at that bridge, just use skill 2 and dash down the ledge and skill 2 again until you reach the cliff, there you take to the right and use skill 1 to get up that ledge and then use skill 2 to dash through the waterfall, after that there will be another waterfall and this one is a littlebit tricky, here you have to turn you char a few degrees to the right and use skill 1 to jump and in mid air use skill 2 now if you are lucky you will end up on the next step of the track and if you are unlucky you have to use skill 1 again to reach it.

after that it’s more or less straight farward.

I am typing this umm… Guide just from my head so I may have missed some steps but… I hope it works…

Oh and about these Fake-Power ups, there seems not to be anyway to ignore taking damage from them if you run in to them so learn where people usually puts them and tale routs around them if possible.

Do you have to do the kites to be able to get the meta event done? Or are there other ways around as in all the others? That’s to bad they, since I won’t be doing the Obsidan one since when I did that JP nine mounths ago I swore to never return to it ever again.

Yes, this time around, you need all 16 achievements to get the Quartz node in your Home Instance.

Meaning you have to do the kites.

Wow, now that’s a bad kick in the pants
Sometimes these devs realy knows how to make you sad.
Nothing to do about it, other than complain about it!
Well in the end we won’t se how much of a big deal this quartz node is until the end of this Living Story.

Time for me to hit the sac before I hit the keyboard, g’night good people.

I love this place, I haven’t played it that much but already got alot of achievements and the jumps and “puzzles” doesn’t seem that hard, it’s just an extra flawour of traversing the map. Doing the climbing thing is like one of many achievement’s and another one is again to revisit old JP’s… And one that I hate so I won’t get that achievment.
Y’know what I noticed when I looked through the Achievments panel? Unfinnished achievments from old Living stories does not show! I love that!

Don’t worry to much, some of you who are complaining seems to be WvW players and well you got your piece of the cookie two or three updates ago, and there will be more, also there has been changes for WvW players in every update atm so as a few posters above me has stated, ’It’s realy not only jumping puzzles that is permanent’.

Oh by the way, it’s realy neat looking and beautiful sceenery for me it is realy a wow! moment, love walking around looking on all details.

I don’t have any problems with lag “knock on wood”.

I have 100/100 fiber and an okay PC.
But during the beginning of Halloween and wintersday, and not to speak of the first Karka attack on LA I had realy wierd and continuing lag/Rubberbanding, could be some massive usage on the servers making some of us lag?
If you have troubleshooted your PC and your own internet and that didn’t do it maby just wait it out alittle so all the hype has cooled down a little and lessen the server load maby?

I’m really not.

The tempo is too fast. It’s summer. If I go on vacation for a week the amount of time left to tackle the project of the bi-week is grossly inadequate. I manage to drop in most days, but after I bang out the daily, I’m not always eager to spend another 1-3 hours advancing goals that are gonna vanish on a short timer.

The new quartz charging process sounds really, really, really grindy with 5 days of daily dinking around to do one piece of gear. And that if you have heaps of raw quartz at hand.

I’m not fond of the Obsidian sanctum. The idea of having to trudge through it dodging enemy fire to increment the meta-deed so I can avoid something on the list I really don’t want any part of… sounds pretty close to anti-fun (it annihilates fun on contact in a shower of messy particles…)

I’m not seeing much in the way of active involvement in this release. Scrabbling around on a new puzzle and grabbing baskets out on the landscape… yay?

The new achievement based rewards are delivered via RNG boxes… WTF? No one, and I mean NO ONE was asking for more ways for the game to troll you. Now you can earn 500 points, get a shiny box available no other way… and get jack squat. I’m looking for ways to move steadily towards my goals, even if the road is long. Now you can commit a hundred hours across several weeks to get that next costume unlock and not end up advancing at all. These new boxes are the work of the devil.

Well they say the less expectations you have the better it gets.

Quartz doesn’t sound grindy at all, you can only craft one charged quartz crystal a day and while waiting for the next day you have enjoyed the event’s and earned enough quartz to charge the next day and maby next day, I can’t say this for sure, but it’s very well explain that Quartz is gained from:
- Zephyr Sanctum Supply boxes
- Kite Baskets
- Sanctum Sprint
- Trading post
- And home instance (Whe you have done the requirement’s)

I agree with the Obsidan sanctum thing though, that realy makes me angry.
Hehe But I can see the faces on A-net dev teams when reading about the last Obsidan Sanctum complaint’s and they are going ‘Oh Oooh… And we put that kite in there for the next Living Story O_o Can we undo it!? -No it is too late. -_-’

Lessons Anet Will Probably Not Learn

My thoughs might be a little different than OP, but I do agree.

All this talk about Dungeon being to difficult or not, everyone argues about this and trying to fight for their own opinion but the truth is; everyone is not like you.

This dungeon is obviusly hard for a great deal of players (Me included) even though they are elit players, but maby they have a longer learning curve or are just realy bad att jumping on to small boxes and that renders this Dungeon impossible for some players. Some players have great reflexes and perception, love jumping puzzles or are realy steady on their fingers or whatever and they find this dungeon easy as pie.

The problem is not the difficulty in a way, the problem is that it is temporary and not everyone is good enough to finnish this Dungeon in two weeks, in my friends case (The Casuals) they play only on weekend evenings and they realy love the Dungeon except for the first boss since that’s where we are stuck, we have tried one saturday and two sundays now and we havent been succesfull but we never gave up trying, time just run out and next weekend the dungeon isn’t there, we are not just only robbed of the enjoyment from saying ‘ye! We finally did it!’ But we won’t get to se the little ending story for the dungeon.

GW1 had “Normal” and “Hardmode” after a good while, I hope that will come for GW2 too.
I don’t mind trial and error, I am quite used to it from other MMOrpg’s, but a normal mode to learn the basics of the dungeon and after you done that a Hardmode to give you a challange if you wan’t is more what I like and for temporary content that would be pretty important imo.

So all in all what I am saying is that, no don’t nerf the Dungeon but since it’s temporary, give us less good players a chance to succed too.

About the WvW JP’s, well I hate it and I won’t even go there to try it out. I did the JP once and swore never to go there again.
I still think that a JP doesn’t belong in a WvW map, if I wan’t to do WvW I do WvW and if I wan’t to do JP, I want to do a JP and not both at the same time. There is no skill in try to avoid being ganked or go there with a guild and fight the griefers.
That JP was only placed there to give griefers enjoyment imo.

I play both WvW and PvE and as I said ‘I play WvW for WvW, not for doing JP’s or griefing PvE strugglers who tries to compleate their achivement’.
Sure WvW needs more achievement, but putting it in a JP is a joke and saying ‘live with it, you PvE’ers have so many achievement’s anyway’ isn’t realy supporting the fact that it is a wise dessicion for iether PvE’ers or WvW’ers.

… my boyfriend and me were able to speak to Mai Trinn before finishing the dungeon. She’s in Fort Marriner. The letter shows you where to go, but it doesn’t tell you to go and look upstairs. Take the stairs up the wall and walk into the tower; that’s where her cell is.

Frizz's lab is a terrible fight

With my build I use elixir S and that saves me alot but it has alot of CD even though I have Elixirs in 20% less CD.
Also in the last phase if you are unlucky (and it seems I am always) you can get both robots at you and they will get charged since it is impossible to keep them from getting charged and then they will do the pull after each other so if I dodge once the next one will pull you in, that’s what I save my Elixir S for.

I dunno what I am doing wrong, but I have tried every strategy and tips for this forum and nothing helps, we are keeping together and we are good at jumping and dodging and one miss in the last Phase or just being unlucky once and it is game over.

I have compleated the first boss fight with PUG’s but with my team that is alot better that the PUG’s I have played with we can’t just do it, I do like the whole dungeon, it is challanging and fun to do but the Frizz fight is terrible yes.

Well today is the final day for me to “enjoy” Sky Pirates of Tyria before it ends so I am going to summerize my experience with this Living Story part.

Well to begin with I haven’t read any FAQ’s or hint’s from Wiki or Dulfy this time.

Kill 50 Aetherblades in each zone (Maguuma, Kryta, Ascalon and Shiverpeaks)
This sounds okay, those Achievements usually are gathered just by playing on one of these maps and when you have compleated one or two maps you are done or close to done, but not this time. This time me and my Fiancée was compleating two maps in ascalon with our new characters and we also “farmed” some extra holo’s and our result was 18 Aetherblades killed in Ascalon. That’s realy insane, before I said you don’t have to farm in this game to compleate anything, you finnish it just as you play, well that’s not correct for this one atleast… You realy have to farm them, bad programming or bad WAI imo.

JP Caches
Neat idéa, but I don’t like all JP’s some are JP’s that I never want to do again and one of the caches is in EB, hehe that’s funny I know not only I hate that one, find another way to make PvE’ers try WvW this is not the right way since we will hate WvW even more after this.

Dungeon
Hard and challanging, that’s realy neat! (For a permanent Dungeon).
I tried it with PUG’s 2 times and got to the last boss, I have tried it with my casual friends 3 times and over 100 deaths on the first boss and I still don’t know what we are doing wrong, but as for the moment I will say you need a big portion of luck fighting this boss and a good portion of skill.
After whiping lot’s of times on the last boss with the PUG’s I was sure we could do it with my group of friends, to bad we didn’t even get through Boss 1 heh… I can’t imagine that we suck that much more than my first PUG with a Zerker Warrior rushing everything before half of the group isn’t even nearby.

Story
I love the introduction to the story, it was cool and it realy got me interested, but I was spoiled from Facebook and when the real Aetherblade story part started I lost focus on the story compleatly, was it becouse of the Dungeon? I don’t know realy and it seems I can’t even see the capture of Mai Trin since I haven’t compleated the Dungeon, I got a mail saying where to go but when I get there, there is nothing… I could have been there with the wrong char I guess so I will try it again with my main soon since she has done the whole story accept for the Dungeon and that is my last complaint about the story, well I don’t know how much I have missed of the story by not compleating the dungeon but it realy feels like I don’t care about the story anymore becouse I can’t compleate the Dungeon.

What could have been better imo?
- No achievement’s that is so rarely appearing that you more or less has to farm them to achieve them.
- An easy (Not to easy though, still wan’t a challange) mode for atleast temporary Dungeons with less rewards but giving less skilled players like me the chance to see the story (If there is one).
- Having temporary achievement in WvW is silly but it sure gives a challange… But I doubt it will make PvE’ers wanna try WvW more becouse they are getting ganked in a already hard JP.

I have ignored more or less the whole Sky Pirates of Tyria Livning Story, I don’t care about a Monocle and/or an ugly mini. This was a boring Living story and lucky enough no cool rewards.

I guess there are some reasons.

Seems like Necromancers are nerfed too… “Only affects one target at each 10 second cycle, even though more than one target is hit with a critical hit.”

Not the same note for Engineers…

It’s a good question but as I said, I guess they have their reasons.

Could be that Engineers uses fire with most of their weapons so fire condition is applied no matter what but necromancer has no fire condition what I know of and with a fire condition a necro can apply every condition pretty regularly. Maby somthing like that?

I can also think of realy good ways on having Dhuumfire with my necro, but I don’t use Incendiary Powder with my Engineer.

I have no clue when I created my Sunrise, can’t probably even say which month it was.

I don’t think you should worry, if what OP says is true that his Legendary just dissupeared then it is one in a million.
(Not saying OP is a liar, just saying that he could have lost it one way or another, I don’t have a Legendary so I don’t know but what I have read before is that if you Transmigate a Legendary you will be able to sell it or destroy it without the extra security).

Aetherblade Retreat - Feedback & Improvements

Something is borked with the golems.
I did this dungeon with two PUGs and failed at the last boss, both PUGs where just rushing it trough and mostly Zerkers.

I did the dungeon with my rookie friends and we traversed the dungeon without any problems no downing and no problems until the first boss, I told them what to do and gave all instructions and we all did manage to keep a good balance but always someone get’s knocked into a barrier and totaly mouled by both robots or suddenly a robot turns and pulls you into a barrier with no warning at all it just turns and shoots while I am trying to climb some boxes to take cover from the small beam.

There is no way of dodging it since that would make me fall down on the ground and iether hit by the small beam or crushed between the big and small beam.

I have figured out that when I did it with the PUGs we where so Zerked that the robots died before we did and/or we where lucky.
Almost that whole third phase fight is based on luck.

If the golem crosses the beams to much it shielded forever.
If you are unlucky you will be pulled down near a beam and totaly unable to do anything.
If the two beams is crossing just where you are and you get on top of some boxes and a robot is on you, you are lucky to survive.

First Living Story I don’t play till the end, no point following the story now.

No the fact we don’t like is that is that GW2 is more and more like thousands of other main-stream mmos. Unlike what first GW was.

This! Thank you a million times. In short – Guild Wars 2 is becoming what other MMOs are. Colin’s plan for the support of this game is every MMO’s plan with a fresh paintjob. To me, when a game is forced to rely solely on grinding to define its endgame, that means the studio has run out of creativity.

I don’t get why people are so defensive of Guild Wars 2, like it’s the Holy Grail of originality. It used to be this completely different concept. Now it’s reduced to basically a standard MMO without gear grind and nothing else to substitute that. You’re not paying for subscription and the micro transactions aren’t a pay-to-win mechanic. That’s it, really. Everything else this year has been cookie cutter classic.

But it seems you are blinded by the though of having to grind for the Legendary or any other stuff for that matter.

The legendary isn’t supposed to be grinded it’s supposed to be a long-term goal as ju play the game and enjoy it, someday you have neccesary materials to get it.

I may defencive to the game and that is becouse unlike you there are lot’s of stuff I like about this game, I can’t understand why some players even complain this much and doesn’t quit.
It doesn’t matter what it was originally though out to be for me, I like the wag Guild Wars 2 turned out to be, so maby it is my holy grail.

You complain on almost every aspect of the game, even the community and still you play the game? And you are wondering why there are people defending this game they like to play and enjoy unlike some others.

Not everyone think the same, what you hate others may love, complain all you wan’t but don’t get supriced that there are people out here that does not agree with you.

1. Lack of permanent content.
2. Still no Guild Hall.
3. Dungeons are realy fun but there is no way in Hades depths that I can play Expl Dungeons with my casual rookie friends (Easy mode thingy needed with less rewards).

Edit:

1. Rewards don’t reflect the time/risk factor, such as fighting champions. This has to be adjusted very carefully however, because if they make champion rewards too good, people will just zerg them and they’ll become as meaningless as some of the meta events.

2. Connection to your character. There’s a ton of stuff in Guild Wars 2 that’s very convenient, but some of that makes it harder to connect to your characters. Sometimes I feel like I’m playing characters interchangeably, rather than playing a specific character because I love the character.

3. Not even reason to play support type characters from a meta point of view. I’d love to see an actual choice in what I want to play that makes me a valuable member of a party. Build diversity isn’t going to matter at all, if support largely isn’t needed to complete content.

Oh those ones where good, if I could take three more I would copy paste these.

Do you have any evidence that Hardcore players stays longer when the content is harder? Well I think that they will level to level 80, do the hard content until it’s easy and then they will complain on forums that it’s to easy and then they will go back to their old MMO or move on the the next. If they don’t actually like GW2 for more things than just Dungeons that is.

And again how do you know that we consumers isn’t treated with respect, I have played alot of mmorpg’s and now on later years all MMO’s are having RNG boxes and alot of Pay to get it, so it’s just stupid to say that they don’t respect us, from what I read on these forums I see alot of respect from the Devs, they are constantly giving us updates to if a bug is getting fixed or if there will be actually new permanent content and why I got banned and more.
And the latest Living story there was no new RNG boxes, well the AR dungeon I guess the Monocle is RNG but isn’t that bad is it? Since a great number of players can’t even compleate the dungeon becouse A-net listens to people who complains that dungeons are to easy.
GW2 is not “My dress shop” or a WoW-clone since you almost not buy any clothes in store and well it’s not a WoW-clone and who can complain when there is an option to look cool you will use it? To difference to some mmorpg’s when you get a new gear it’s a pink dress with a cute lilly on and you have to wear it since it’s the best armor atm.
And most armor and weapons are not RNG.

And once again I bet you have the numbers that A-net, NCsoft or whatever buissnes model is flawed, you know that Subscritions is far greater than what GW2 now has?

About; don’t like it, don’t play it is just as true as it is… No one is forcing you to play it so if you don’t like it don’t play it, but if you do like it please play it and if there is some things you wan’t changed please give feedback and critisism but some people just wan’t this game to be just like other games and they seems to know everything about marketing and how easy it is to fix bugs and release updates and so on. I am one player, if I don’t like it I won’t play it and I won’t change the fate of this game if I quit.
If 10 players argues on this forum about how bad this game is and if they don’t fix it they will quit, well they are 10 out of alot of other players in this world and well they won’t change the fate of this game, I bet there are alot of players saying ‘I will never return to this game again’ just now as I write this, but also there are alot buying this game as I write this and guess what I think…? No one of these will change the fate of GW2 not until the numbers drop and I don’t have these numbers so I don’t know.

I don’t get it what you say about fun… Eh?
Well a game is supposed to be fun.
In this game you can grind and if you think that’s fun, do that.
In this game you don’t have to grind, if you think you have to grind and don’t think it’s fun then you are aiming for the “wrong” purpose of fun in this game, hence ‘You are playing it wrong’.

If you have played to level 80 with atleast one char and compleated all Dungeons, every level of fractals all JP’s and more then I guess you have had your fun and you have now depleated the resourses GW2 can offer you at the moment, try to follow the Living Story or just take a break I promice it won’t hurt the future of GW2 if you take a break, I have been playing since headstart and I will continue to Pay and play.

I respect you criticize the point’s you are dissupointed at since not only it shows your point of view but also other players point of view as they comment for or against so A-net has something to build their future game on.

So I hope the game soon becomes a liking to both you and me.

You claim you have to grind for endgame content, when I see endgame is when I have beaten Zaithan and get to se the endingscene.
Stuff like Legendary is just something I will get eventually and not something I must have. In the beginning I saw a Legendary weapon as a proof of an old GW2 veteran, someone who have played and enjoyed every content of the game and deserves it, not someone who has farmed CoF constantly for a few weeks and bought it at TP or someone who has Farmed Orr for years and so on. Now when I see someone with a Legendary I am not even the slightest impressed by people wearing it, they should have made it ‘Bound on Accuire’.
RNG’s, sure it’s bad and I don’t like it but you don’t have to farm it and it is not endgame content.

WvW, I have played WvW and fallen victim to alot of Zergs and a server totaly Zerging another server or 2Vs1 is not fun at all.
But honestly I haven’t played much WvW since I am more of a PvE player but what can they do about the Zerging? Take away Mesmer portals? Take away combo fields? Or if you downed you are dead?

In my little WvW experience I have had alot of fun, I have played with my guild going 5 against lot’s and we end up killing a whole lot of them (Well we where not victorius) and gave them a whole good whoopin. We have also been whiped from the face of the battlefield too and we have been in Zerg Vs Zerg and that is awseome fights imo, accept for some lag.

One of the greatest ways to win a battle is to have a greater army than your enemy, but they best way is to have a good leader and a good strategy.
And not to be rude but you may have your problems in WvW becouse you think there is no teamplay in WvW since I have noticed you can do alot much better if you group up and fight together even in Zergs.

And I have seen that in our WvW atleast, when there is a bad leader everyone just run around like wild and with a good leader we usually keep the enemy atleast occupied.

Also the things you say that “will” return players to the game is wierd, well you might be right but do you have any fact’s, do you even have any numbers on how many players have left and that when they return how many players will leave becouse they don’t like raids and having you find a whole raid to earn the “Harder the content the better reward you get” item.

Not once did I say that I want Guild Wars 2 to be another gear grind MMO. I want Guild Wars 2 to be what it was months ago, just improved upon. On paper the game is about exploration, even-level of strength and skill-based combat. In reality, it’s a zerg-fest with no clear goal. How can you deny that? Is the difference between servers so great that I’m playing a completely different game from you? Because I’ve been witness to these things for months.

It’s incredibly hard not to get frustrated when people continue to dismiss my points just because. If you were happy with the game’s direction you’d have told me straight to my face that GW2 is about erasing months of content and playing 2 days a month. What are you exploring after Map Completion is done? The game doesn’t give you an incentive to go back to less-populated zones. I can go back there if I wish, but the world in Guild Wars 2 is currently a campaign mode – you need to beat it only once to see everything.

I think we all want the game to improve in the end, no? Guild Wars 2 hasn’t dealt with gear grinding, it just removed the stat requirement. It’s still the same “kill 10000 rats” experience once you it. The future of the game was never updated – that’s people’s gripe with the Living Story. RNG is made to complement the reward system, not define it -that’s the problem here. Too much gambling. Too much. The list goes on. To summarize…

Guild Wars 2 has no focus and so people don’t commit. No regular players = no community. There, my entire thread in one sentence.

Actually I see alot of criticism and pointers of what A-net are doing wrong, but what do you think they can do about it?

It’s not A-net fault you play the game to much and get bored with it before they can give you new maps and new enjoyable content.

They are trying a new model they had “Living Story” and they are listening to their community about what they are doing wrong and how they can do things better but as we speak I am sure they have already started at working on atleast septembers update so we maby won’t se any change of what we complain about until October for an example.
- Not fact.

The time it takes for them to do a content you play through in two days is alot more than two days I assume.

people do the jumping puzzles for loot?

Seems people is playing this game for loot, every new patch every new update people are complaining it’s not worth doing becouse they get nothing for doing it.

The other JP’s gives you random loot but rarely anything usefull or expensive, so why did you do the JP from the beginning? For Achievement, for fun or for the loot?

I do JP’s for fun and for achievement, the loot is just a bonus. Sure I can agree that an exotic piece with the same stat everytime is bad and it would have been better with the same loot as every other JP’s.

Rage Suppression

I understand his problem, i like to start the game without using the trade broker to buy gear. But in lower levels the gear drop rate is very minimum.. It is so hard to find a single piece of equipment for your toon, but on lvl 80 you find greens every 10 seconds.. but then they are useless.

I think lower lvl zones need a better gear drop rate, so a new player can also learn and get new weapons while they lvl. Most new players dont know there is a TP or dont even know where he is.

I have encoutered this with my brother ( who doesnt play much MMO ) he had no idea what weapon he should use, and was equiping a bow from lvl 5 to 25 and i told him he could use other weapons, and that he could use the TP to get new gear every 10 lvls.

My friend says he is fed up with the constant drops of green and blues that takes up his bag-space, in other words he thinks it’s to easy to get equipment drops.

My experience with playing my first char was quite easy but I imagine that that was becouse I was duoing the whole time, anyway I played just as OP and only used the Equipment I found so maby one advice would be you could always join a guild and have them help you with content you find hard.

When I was leveling my alt’s on the other hand I have been buying new gear in TP every 10th level, lvl 10, 20, 30, 40 and that realy makes things easier.
What people forget in this game is that you scale down to a level fitting the instance or map you are playing so level isn’t that important as long as you have the level or higher for the instance, what you need is good gear.

Thief is imo one of the hardest classes to level to 80 or atleast 60, with no trait’s Thief doesn’t have that much of what they need, but GW2 most important skill (That all chars has) is Dodge and Thiefs do it even better, you said you where using Pistol/dagger? And that is imo one of the best combos for survival, remember to always stay far away from your target and when they are close you use 4 to get distance and 5 to be insvisible and while stealthed you move to a good distance and use skill 1 to utilice good condition damage but mainly dodge, dodge, dodge and dodge whenever you can.

GUYS, we finally got a dungeon that is not easy and actually require some team work and planning ! This is a VERY good step twards the right direction, and when we get content that is not boring and easy, you want to nerf it ?? THIS is what dungeons should be like in the game, dont nerf it, make more dungeons like this one !

Not saying I don’t agree with you but not everyone asked for it, alot of players are still asking for nerfs to AC and other Dungeons.

Though I like AR as a level 80 Dungeon (I think it should be permanent with explorer modes ) I still think there is a small nerf that needs to be done and it’s the bombardment time.

I myself often look at other players and if someone realy looks cool I usually ask what equipment skins they have and ofcourse I tell them that it’s cool.

There are things that I reject and not even bother to look any closely on.
Players with; Legendary GS, full black gear, full white gear, full other expensive colour gear and CoF gear… Okay some full black and white gear combinations can look realy neat but mostly no imo.

I like WP-costs.

Or else I have a suggestion if you want that.

Armor wear on any damage
How does it work, well your armor will always get wear when you get hit little by little but it will never get damaged or break though it will only Damage and Break if you die as usual and having realy worn armor means it breaks easier.

How to stop this from happening?; just as salvage kit’s you have to buy “temporary repair canisters or maby polish kit’s” with 15 uses and each use repairs one worn armor.

Also I think having WP as moneysink makes people move around more, actually having 0-cost on WP’s could make the game feel even more empty since only map-exploring players will walk the map, everyone else will just map-map-map-map more.

The only problem I have with that dungeon is that last boss fight, The whole dungeon is possible with even low level players until you reach the final boss.

The bombardment is too crazy long, and some classes has to sacrifice alot of skills to have extra dodge healing and invis skills just to survive the whole bombardment.

Also about the bombardment, is there a solution on how to avoid it, I mean it nearly covers the whole floor, I see a pattern but in the end it’s iether burning or there is incomming bombs and squishies like me go down pretty quick by both the fire or the blast.

For an 80 group this dungeon is perfect accept for the crazy bombardment IMO.

By your logic, Caudecus’s Manor should be possible for people with levels ranging from 1-15 because it’s accessible in an area where people level 1-15 can go. It’s full of level 80 enemies, so common logic should show that it’s meant for characters at level 80. You’re not missing out on a crucial part of the game because you can’t access it. The only item that people will get out of it that you won’t if you miss it is the mini for getting 12 achievements. Don’t worry, when others get to level 80 there’ll be a lot of other chances for them to take part in something like this.

You are not auto leveled to level 80 when entering CM and it does not go away in a few weeks and it something you can look forward to do when you get level 40-45, but with AR you have to hurryhurryhurrypowerlevelingpowerlevelinghurryhurry or you will miss that story and that experience. thank you very much.
But yea my “logic” fails, it’s no where said that this dungeon is for players <80 it actually says Reccomended level 80, nice finger from A-net to new-players.

Crucial part!? How about I want to experience the story in the dungeon before it ends? Everything is not only about achievement’s, and I am not talking about myself I talk about the new to this game players that want’s to take part in this “one time event” and the new players invited by their GW2 playing friends who will face this brick wall and not all but many will surely get a bad taste of GW2 like this.

I did this dungeon once with a PUG and retiered after 8-ish tries on Last boss.

My thoughts;
This is a dungeon accesable by all players who have reached LA, this dungeon is meant to be fun for all players, not only level 80 and old GW2 veterans that have played the game since release and done all dungeons in the game.
As it seems now I have got that totaly wrong.

Playing a dungeon at level 80 = Normal mode
Playing a dungeon at level <80 = Harder the lower you get.

It’s all about learning to play, yes yes I know and I am realy darn good at this game and I could solo this dungeon but as I am dodging and blocking and so on, my skills comes to a point where they all are on CD.

So I need a group to give me some time between the attacks some disturbence for the boss, Okay but now two of them are level 30 and it’s their first level 30 chars.
We go through the whole dungeon with ease and I say this dungeon is Easy, we get to first boss and third time we did it, with a little tactics and all 3 level 80 going full melee since one Robot uses reflect shield every 2 seconds.

Second part get’s hard, we die a few times becouse some rush to fast or just bad placement but when that’s all figured out it goes perfect.
It’s realy enjoying it’s working as I think a dungeon should.

Last boss…. !!! It’s like shoving your head in a brick wall…
Our level 30 warrior goes down with one hit, we try to rez him but Trin pummels away at him while having 3 rezzers and health going up and down like a joyo, a big circle appears rezzers with low health dodge and rezzers with good health stays, warrior dies anyway, boss fools around for a while while we try to kite her around the dancefloor and also rezzing our dead warrior, now! We can finally do damage.

Trin decides to jump for the other rookie and she is down, and we succesfully rez her and just when she is up she goes down from dodging trins attack right into a blast circle.

Level 30 in this dungeon: Less health, less DPS, less armor, less skills, less Traits… Common it’s not only player skills that matters though it’s a big-reason to victory in this game (And I like that), a level 30 has to be a veteran to succesfully manage atleast this dungeon.

I don’t mind a challange, but first I wan’t to enjoy the game and the story and then I want extreme challange… It realy is time A-net released Easy mode and hard mode now since there are so many of us with different opinions about how hard a game should be, GW1 got hard mode for later on elitists so I think in time GW2 will too.

And since this dungeon is only for a short time, it should be possible to be done by new players aswell, but now it feels like you say ‘Live with it or level up before it ends then

Not much, but I would play more if this game had content I actually enjoyed.
Got level 80 first week, got ascended gear second week after the release, and 100% world this year playing 5 days (except for WvW), yeah, end everything else except for legendary.
Out of 9 last months I’ve played this game maybe only 3 months actively.
So yeah, I have no ____ idea what you people are doing in game. I can hardly find a reason to log in.

Alot that you don’t apperently :P

Some people are just to stuck in the ‘I wan’t a new gear for compleating the end game’ so it’s even pointless to get them to see the difference of Work and Enjoyment.

I play a game becouse it’s fun, grind or no grind, story or no story, 8-bit or better, horrific music or enchanting music and more. If the game is fun I play it, if it’s not fun I don’t play it. I played GW1 almost from release to EotN and then I started playing another MMO for six years and they ruined the game compleatly for me so I left and in good time GW2 was released and now this is the game for me and honestly of all these 3 games I have played, I have enjoyed GW2 the most.

What’s the point of a game? Relaxation and fun, that’s what it is for me.
