1. I don’t see the Pay 2 Win in it since I have already got a Sprocket lode in my home.
2. I am probably going to get one since I need a infinete mining pick.
3. I was pretty sure something like this where comming when seeing this rare Sprocket crafting thing that costs 500 sprockets to make.
4. For some reason I don’t think Scarlet minion attacks will stop even after scarlet LS, maby it will be remoduled to be interesting again.
5. Sprockets are not gone yet, don’t write doomsday on your calendar just yet but I see your point (Your = People who’s opinion it is pay2win).

wouldn’t be nice players like me that want that type of armor to have the option to get it?

Ofc it would. Well I might have come out wrong… Sorry.
What I meant was that I do not care for any (imo)typhical ranger looks.
I didn’t mean that I don’t want the option to have it, in fact I am all for more choises for Medium armor and I am always mixmatching gear so even if I don’t want to look like a Ranger I can still use a rangers Shoulderguards for an example.

So in short, yes I would like those ranger outfits you have posted pictures on but if I had to choose between those and for example Indiana Jones clothes (What I want) I would go for Indiana clothes

Cowls aren’t something that make even the remotest amount of sense for a class that is all about being aware of their surroundings and responding to any given situation with precision and accuracy – they block a ridiculous amount of your vision.

I suspect cowls are not high up on their list because they’re difficult to make work on all the races. Read that as, Charr have massive heads with big pointy ears and horns,

Well… Roll a thief choose the path that gives you a hood from the start, Transmugate it with a white headpiece (make it account bond) and finally equip it on your ranger.
It is just a hood but it is medium armor and I am pretty sure you can make it account bond.

Anwser to OP; nah… I think ranger in GW2 is neat and I realy don’t like when every game/movie has the typhical Ranger/hunter look.
But I would want more sturdy medium clothes that is not coats. And soft light clothes that is not only Robes (For men atleast, womans got skirts).

Do You Enjoy Massive Zerg Content?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: EdgarMTanaka.7291

EdgarMTanaka.7291

I loved the Zerg stuff like the Queens gauntlet and the scarlet attacks but I don’t like Tequatl Zerg action.

Why I like QG and scarlet attacks?
I just like when lot’s of players plays on the same map and fights for the same purpose. I like it when all players fight together to achieve a succesfull victory and I like it becouse even if you where unsucsessfull you still got a reward.
For me it does not matter if I get loads of loot but as long as there is something to fight for, a little coockie.

Why I don’t like Teq?
So many preperations is needed. Some say you have to prepare 1h before and I see now as the nerf too Fire Elemental Powder people is crying that they will have no chance at all to defeat Teq?
Sure I do like event that isn’t just pushovers like QG and Scarlet attacks but Teq is just the opposite and as an extra bonus players don’t even get a reward for trying but failing utterly. There is no kittenie left to get players to do Teq so special created Guilds are created for Teq and well I am not one of those people who joins a guild for one Event.

In short. I like Zergs as long it does not lag.

Twisted Marionette - Best boss

Agree with OP
I havent tried Wurm yet but Marionette was awesome!

Perfect way to lessen the Zerg and it has an interesting mechanic

I agree somewhat with Aspirine though. Well it is not that that the wait is annoying but not knowing when it returns is bad. I usually enjoy this game in many different ways and don’t wanna stand around waiting for Marionette to come back.
Since the scarlet minions attacks have ended why can’t we get a messege just like that when it is about 5min left… I mean there are a countdown after all?

So far I like the story and the boss Twisted Marionette, well done Anet.

Thoughts on skipping

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

EdgarMTanaka.7291

It’s great that some people don’t want to skip. My advice to them is find people with thoughts like their own.

But the second anyone is bashed for wanting to skip I draw the line. The second that a non skipper joins a group and expects the entire group to kill everything (without it being specified in lfg) I draw the line.

There is no reason to expect that a group of people you do not know is fine with their time being wasted. The only way I think this can be solved is by closely describing/reading the groups in question on the lfg, to keep like minded individuals together.

So true. Everyone should respect eachother skipper or not.
But the same goes the other way around.

Thoughts on skipping

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: EdgarMTanaka.7291

EdgarMTanaka.7291

The design flaw definitively isn’t skipping, it’s the fact that dungeons are the same each time you play it! Anet’s design seems to be kill Boss 1,2,3 or just make the Boss harder with gimmicks.

Anet developers need to go play some of the original RPG’s where every you never knew what awaited you on the other side of a door; treasure, trap, or enemies.

Dungeons need randomness, hidden areas, random traps in different places, random trash mops, hidden treasure, NPC’s, etc. Add a few new paths with hidden areas to each dungeon and then let the paths be random! Make players search for treasure and not just a chest at the end. How about dungeon skills for finding treasure/trap & disarming traps & opening trapped chests?

Just adding multiple random doors to each path, where each one may be a trap, fight, or treasure. You can stop players from running through dungeons today by adding a few floor traps that drop players back to the starting area.

Dungeons need better treasure, how about rescuing random NPC in dungeons that give you a discount from a vendor, code/discount from the trading post! There’s not a lot of randomness in the stuff you get today.

CoF p1 has a number of random events. AC has troll.

I have never seen anyone ever do any of the events, or kill the troll. The rewards are just too kittenty.

I did troll and Kholer yesterday.. My advice find a Guild, ask them to du dungeons without skipping and there you go.

But I will be honest and say that it is very rare to find players who rather do the dungeon than skipp it Also saying that, I know we who don’t wanna skip is a minority and people doing dungeon runs do this for mostly to farm and ofc they don’t want it to go slower.

Someone had a good idea about better rewards and stuff for % of the dungeon compleated. That sounds awesome!

And I am actually one of those who hates skipping so every means to stop skipping would make me happy

Returning after a LONG hiatus.

in Living World

Posted by: EdgarMTanaka.7291

EdgarMTanaka.7291

Don’t listen to the nay sayers that call the Living Story “temporary or disposable content” The stories are adding new things to the game that stick around long after their chapter is done.

Sure, they’re leaving some interesting things behind as the living story content disappears, but the unique items you can’t get outside of that now gone content is depressing and stupid.

Why the dev team would think it’s a smart idea to make shinies temporary in a game revolved around getting shinies is beyond my understanding.

See this is my whole thing. MMOs for me are about gear, exploration, and gear. I’ll be hung for saying this…but that’s what I’ve always loved about WoW. I have played it off and on for years. I like to come back to it, knowing that each time there will be a plethora of new areas and shiny new gear to find. I’m not seeing that so much with GW2 and it’s sad. The game will be two years old soon and they have only added one “permanent” zone. That’s a big issue for me. I was really hoping to have seen the Crystal Desert opened up by now, along with other areas.

I was also hoping to see a continent added with an expansion one day. I’m still going to hold on to that hope.

I can understand you in one way but Anet (as I have understad it) want’s to work on the world we have first. To get it interesting for everyone even if you are level 1 or 80. So by adding let’s say Crystal Desert we would get a new zone wich would iether be filled with players enjoying the new content or and probably a week later will be barren and un-travelled just like southsun. I just recenty wrote on a thread where a new player complains that starterzones are empty, just this is what A-net tries to fix.

So the understanding I got is that Crystal Desert will come but let the Living Story tell it’s tale and let it give enough blood to the bodyparts the world have first before they add another bodypart to support with blood.

As few others have said. There has been new dugeons and new events and maps has changed. Keep yourself updated every two weeks and you will feel the evolving world. You don’t have to play 24/7 to feel it, just be a little active. Why would anet create a game where poeple will play one or two days every 6th month or year in this case? They earn their money on people who stays in the game and beleave it or not but on those who buys Gems!! :O

Hey There! New to Guild Wars; 1 Complaint

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: EdgarMTanaka.7291

EdgarMTanaka.7291

Another reason I beleave is becouse GW2 maps is devided into small zones.

Let’s say… When I play Lotro and I am in Rohan I can write on map chat with everyone over all zones connected with rohan even if it is over 8 zones in Rohan.

In Guild Wars 2 we have a few zones per region like, Kryta, Aschalon, shiverpeaks and Maguuma. But even if there are many players in Kryta only the players in Gendarran fields can talk to eachother and only those in Queensdale can talk to eachother.
So a more open region chat would pump up the chat I beleave.

And then we have also in Lotro, the region chats are silent in Lotro anyway… Why is this? Well that is becouse they have player created chats. Players has created a chat a chat where everyone on the same server can see the chat wherever you are.
So a global chat would pump up the chat I beleave.

One thing for sure is that GW2 worlds are not empty. I play on a pretty Med-pop server and I always come across other players. Not an army with players but a few. New players, old players with an alt, someone helping out or even people doing the explorer thing.

Make Dungeons have Tiers pls?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: EdgarMTanaka.7291

EdgarMTanaka.7291

Wow iether I am so bad at explaining myself or people can’t read.

Tier 1-5 where 3 is where the difficulty is where it is now and 5 is realy hard and 1 is realy easy. Not everyone thinks these dungeons is easy, and also not all dungeons are easy to blitz through. Some dungeons are left outside becouse they don’t fit in to the required difficulty.

That’s why people should be able to choose a difficulty to be able to enjoy the content at their gaming level. Offcourse reward would have scale with the tiers.

The thing I said about removing some mechanics too bosses was just an idea, an example what I think could be done.

Not profitable; NCsoft would never let ANet do it.

But perhaps if they introduce a one-time use easy-mode consumable in the gem shop for 2k gems…

What do you mean?
I do not spend gems on stuff to compleate dungeons with and I have never run it with anyone who do… I don’t expect the few %+ the buffs give does any big difference.

But yea, why not? If NCsoft wanna earn more I wouldn’t mind to pay for example a coin that gives you one account permanent 1,2,4 or 5 tier starter. But I would rather have it for free and I bet more players would play the game if they could choose the difficulty and the more players would buy fluff from the shop.

EdgarMTanaka.7291

I know it has been talked about alot but I didn’t see any posts about it in a while and I have a few new ideas.

There is a TL:DR 1 and 2 :P

I don’t have any bigger problems with most Dungeons as they are. But I sometimes play with friends who are casual players and don’t have that much time on their hands to play games and isn’t “that” good as it is required to be to compleat all dungeons. They don’t have time to get new gear for every dungeon but they realy love to do dungeons and they realy wanna compleate all dungeons and they like the challange they give us.
It is pretty annoying though as we did Aetherblade part of TA the day before yesterday and we got to the last boss in less than 40min, everything went so smooth and I have to give it to my friends they are realy getting good at the game. We arrived at the boss (Clockheart), and we tried over 2h to defeat him and once we got him down to 5% and we couldn’t get this Hologram to the boss in time and we all insta-whiped on his special attack, for the first time ever. So not that I am complaining over that we will never be able to do it, we will someday but…

TL:DR:nr1
I would realy like a difficulty below the normal level, some dungeons are just to hard for beginners to do. Some dungeons are so hard to do that it makes them boring and not worth the time instead people do path 1 and 3 but never 2… Why? Becouse it is to hard and it takes to much time. Not that you are worried you will fail but that it is too hard to be enjoyed.

But sometimes dungeons are fun becouse they are hard so there should be difficulty above the normal level also.

TL:DR:nr2
This is why I would like Dungeons to have Tiers/DifLevel or something to change before you enter a dungeon.
Tier 1: Difficult mechanics has been Removed like Clockhearts Cogs he is throwing when people range him. And atleast bosses health pool is a little lower.
Tier 2: Aleast bosses health pool is a little lower.
Tier 3: Normal.
Tier 4: I dunno yet what I would want to give me more challange as Normal is good challange already but I kow that there are many out there who want’s the dungeons harder.
Tier 5: Even harder.

Next, I would want skippable content to be logic. I mean that if you pull a army of enemies they should not return to their old possitions when they have gone to far. I mean what bandits say ‘Hey they jumped over the fence and ran down the waterfall so now they can reach Frost easy! Let’s just go back’.
If the content is meant to be skipped you have to be able to sneak past them without being noticed.

Dont fix what isnt broken

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: EdgarMTanaka.7291

EdgarMTanaka.7291

Anet is gonna make the same mistake that Soe made back in the day with Star wars galaxies… they’re gonna do a massive revamp of the fight system (forcing players to change all their gear and weaponry) and in less than a week lose over 70% of their player base. Star wars galaxies for as much good work as they did afterwards (returning their fight system back to the original plataform and implementing a lot of cool features) did never recover. Then again history repeats itself.

Is almost as the fact that right now Gw2 is the or one of the best mmos out there isnt enough for them.

SWG didn’t only change battle, they changed
- to Leveling system.
- UI’s.
- New Combat system.
- New Skill system.
- Added a Trait system.
- Introduced classes.
- Introduced Jedi’s to be playable classes from the start.
- Changed some game cores so alot of quests didn’t respond to the new coding and they where never fixed.
People who had worked hard and long to unlock stuff, to level weapon skills, to level other skills, to master their proffession it was all gone.
This was not only ‘just’ a fix to one single part of the game that didn’t work as intended, SWG NGE was a huge re-build on something that did work as intended.

Can you link so I know wth you are talking about?

If it’s about the fix to Zerker being the only thing that matters for Elitist I would say that it is not said anything of breaking anything. They are trying to make Zerkers less favored. I am sure that there will be Zerker builds that are still good and will work how they are meant to be working. In other words, more or less Glass Cannons.

But what where you talking about? Have I missed something?

I do dungeons. I enjoy dongeons, I don’t speedrun or looking for the exploits, best and fastest way to do dungeons.

I don’t speedrun too, and I don’t look for exploits either. But I do look for skilled players to run with, and if I can set someone off on the road to being a more efficient runner, I will. I think this is a clash of opinions that I find myself unable to reconcile now, it’s 4 in the morning.

I am happy that you sound like you got angry by the fact I go against this stupid Zerker players. OP said he needed Damage and to stand on his own. This build I have posted has proven being a very good build for both open World PvE and Dungeons and I have got a few replies from people being supriced it being so effective.

Firstly, I’m not so quick to anger as some other people, and it’s not likely I’ll get annoyed by something like this. Now, OP said he wanted to stand on his own two legs? Easy. Rather than assuming you will get hit and build specially to reduce and heal off the damage, why not just avoid getting hit in the first place? A berserker is squishy, but not so squishy that you’ll die in under half a second barring one shot mechanics. Your teammates are there to support you too, and as a necro, you are tied with the warrior for having the highest base health in the game. What are you worried about? Dying? No one likes to die, but if you’re going into pug groups, you might want to rethink your approach, because the faster the enemy dies, the lower your chance of making any error.
As for damage, I refer you to this link for the third time: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/necromancer/Guide-DPS-Necro-for-PvE/first#post3462415

The build I posted was to give my opinion of a good build, OP is totaly free to ignore it or try it.

Of course, I respect your right to make an opinion, but it’s clear I don’t respect the build. I’m only human – I will judge.

I though I would hear complains about it since it is a MM build but never though I was going to get a rude response.

I admit that I was a little rude, at this hour my thinking is somewhat impaired. I apologise if you have taken offense.

Edit: Unfortunately for you I quoted the reply before you removed it.

I suspected you where quoting as I edited my messege… I apologise myself since I saw myself as rather rude so that is why I deleated it and hoped you didn’t see it :P

The buildsite I use does not have PvE gear for some reason but as you can se on my choise for trinkets I go with Cleric gear all out, even the weapons.
And for sigil on staff I have Sigil of Superior Leeching.

Since it is a Minion Master you have to be carefull not to let your pets pull any enemies. But atm what I have tried it works real good.
1. Good damage and very high surviveability.
2. Can almost do everything on it’s own accept fighting bosses with high-damage AoE’s.
3. Staff is used mostly used for support like extra healing and condition removal and small fear.
4. Why Axe? Axe is not the highest damage weapon but it is quick and by that offers good healing and also it has range compared to daggers.
5. knockdowns and Dazes is the thoughest part for this build but if I can I usually go Death Shroud when that happens.

Note: The following post assumes you are doing dungeons. If so, read on. If not, scroll down and read the tl;dr.

If you’re building just to survive, I think even that metaphorical berserker lying dead next to you will have done more damage than you could ever hope to output in the 45 seconds he was alive.

Clerics gear is a horrible choice for PvE to begin with (even as a carebear guardian), and because I can’t see your trait setup I’m going with the assumption that you don’t have Transfusion traited, which would at least utilise the added healing power for your team’s benefit. As it is right now, the PvE meta is superior DPS, because, well, a dead mob can’t hurt you.

As I see it, if your teammates die and you’re still standing, you’re only wasting their time by sticking in combat (and your minions won’t disengage so easily).

I could keep pointing out more flaws, but I’ll leave you with this.

When will we see dueling?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: EdgarMTanaka.7291

there’s a lot of “i don’t like it so nobody can have it” mentality here.

if you don’t want to duel, turn the option off. then it won’t even affect you. what’s the big deal?

equally, there is also a lot of “i want it so everybody has to have it” mentality here.

if you want to duel, turn the option on…oh wait, there is no option.

problem sorted.

if a feature is implemented obviously it will be implemented for everyone. what you think there’s gonna be some kind of sign up sheet on the gw2 front page for those interested in dueling? no that’s moronic. luckily if it’s designed with a disable feature then nothing gets c hanged for those who don’t care for dueling. don’t be selfish.

I love how people who want dueling always call people who do not selfish.

So let me ask you some questions please

1. what about people who are dueling in open-world scaling up events for people who do want to do the events- do you see the duelers helping out? Or just scaling the events by their presence and ignoring them?

2. what about the suggestions of having arenas in the main cities with spectator mode?
would that be acceptable?
if not- why ?

1. I imagine ArenaNet would deal with this issue before they released something like dueling. If not, you have a point.

2. Sure, if Anet doesn’t adjust scaling for duels, this sounds fine.

I don’t think we have to worry about scaling.
I don’t think scaling would work in PvE enviroment for Duels that is… Since even if a level 80 player Duels a level 5 the level 5 player would still have a disadvantage becouse that player will have level 5 armor and the level 80 player would probably have a level ~80 armor.

IMO scaling would be best but it would require so much programing and fixes that it would result in an uneaven fight or not the same gear/Traits/skills as I wanted to try or train with.

When I spar my partner as I talked about before I usually like to be in a disadvantage sometimes so I can go all out when she is not used to the new trait/char/skills and so on.

This is inaccurate.

People, in other games at least, duel in public open world locations:

to have something to do while waiting for an event/boss/whatever to spawn.

to meet new people with similar in game interests.

to compare and contrast build performance, with input from a variety of individuals.

and so on.

Making it instanced still does not make this something you can’t do.
I am for instanced duels where the two participant can invite others to spectate the duel. But the most important part of my idea is that this instance can be entered from everywere accept in dungeons, during combat and active PvP maches and WvW. When you leave the duel instance you will be taken back to where you left. Just like when you enter The mist.

What if there’s an option to block their duel requests?

Every single time this comes up in an MMO, those who don’t duel are automagically labeled a carebear. There are plenty of fights in WvW and sPvP is over there —-—->

Every MMO I have played I have had Duel requests turned off and I have never ever heard something like that. Though I havent played that much WoW and I bet that is where most children are.

And also when I have forgot to turn off Duel requests, now when I think about it I rarely get any Duel requests from anyone as soon I have gotten away from the newbie areas.

When will we see dueling?

Edgar, the “placed in an instanced area” is, to me, the ideal form of dueling, were it to exist. You’ll find that most of the people asking for dueling are against that though.

The only reason for it to not be instanced would be for duelists to feel good for ganking newbs, that is, either trolling or showing off. Neither one is a behaviour I’d wish to encourage in the community.

Yea I guess that’s true, but the sole perpose of dueling is to try builds, having fun while waiting, train for oncomming dangers and so on. So an instanced area would do well if it where possible to achieve, it would be what the real duelists be asking for. Ganker/greifers/people who needs a false ego boost dueling low levels can go play WoW or other games with open PvP.

If it be possible. Adding a way for others to be invited by duelers to spectate and look at traits and so on, just like in sPvP. (Both participants must accept every invited spectator)
I would like that.

I have been against dueling in GW2 alot but a few times now I have realy missed the ability to duel… Like me and my partner we always duel while waiting for others in other games. It’s a fun thing to do instead of just standing there doing nothing. We have tried costume brawl but it is far from the same way of Dueling and it doesn’t give the right feeling…

I am the game nerd and I catch up with game mechanics pretty fast but my partner she is good but not that used to games as I am so in other games I usually duel her to teach her some technique’s that I find usefull. And in the end she usually ends up kicking my kitten ti’l I bite the moon

Now I would realy like an easy way to duel in this game, even if it cost me a few hundred gems as long as there is an option to disable duel-requests and also not to be able to duel in Crouded areas. Best would be if the duelers could be placed in an instanced area but I guess that would be hard.

Hmmm… Mursaat’s was quite hard without ascended if I recall that right from GW1, I hope we don’t need ascended gear to be able to fight this guy. If not meant for a fractal boss that is :P

50 active illusions? Alot of clutter and alot of laaaaaaag And you realy like condition damage… Hmm…

How about?
Phase 4 25%
Aid of the Wicked: Drakh, Undead Mursaat summons two portals next to him. His younger brother Morh steps out of one and his older brother Xarh steps out of the other.
Drakh will continue to Auto-attack and cast Drakh Bomb now and then.
Morh will maintain Aura of reflection a reflecting invisibility shield on Drakh.
Xarh will use Thunderclap (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Thunderclap), Lightning Orb (http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Lightning_Orb).

Morh and Xarh will cast Divine Intervention (The skill will put a permanent buff on target and it only wears of on death. The buff resurrects the target with 60% Health when it dies.) on eachother when they get below 50% health if they are above 75% health. That means if Morh health is above 75% he will cast Divine Intervention on Xarh if Xarh goes below 50% Health and the other way around.

Maby missed it but where Drakh supposed to be?

LFG system abuse

how is “joining a group, but then found that the group is not to your liking and then leave the group” considered an abuse ?

If I recall correctly, the LFG tool shows how many people and what professions are already in the group before you join. So the only thing you can’t see is AP. Feels scummy to me.

Ohh I have seen so many times people leave becouse they notice for example Necros going full signet users or warriors with banners and Cleric gear and so on. Some players need this perfect setup before they can play a dungeon. They rather spend a day finding the perfect PUG to speed-run the dungeons rather than taking their time in the dungeon and enjoying it’s full content.

Anyway, on to topic;
I think it is worth to report. I hate players who greif players who are actually trying to play the game as it is meant to be played.

GW1 Nostalgia -- Why not just PLAY GW1?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: EdgarMTanaka.7291

EdgarMTanaka.7291

Because ANET abandoned the development of GW1 to make a better game based on the same principles – no grind for stats, cosmetic endgame, good and engaging pvp.

Instead why dont the people that want vertical progression and all that go back to WoW?

They abandoned the game, still better than gw2!

GW2 worse mmo ever!

So far for reasonable discussions.
That is a rather radical, subjective, and largely false statement.

[trying to get ontopic then]
I know it is radical but its not entirely false, gw1 was and is way more fun than gw2, we are talking a game thats close to 10years, yet Phrophecies history is far superior and had severall pvp concepts, Gw2 lacks all of it, classes mechanics included, for a game with 1year there were alot of bad decisions on how to the game(Tyria) would envolve further, you got concepts that got badly deployed into the game as in “living sotry VS districs” as i like to call it.
The worse problem is the artwork was what saved the game, game mechanics(to the player) has zero new/inovative content, being a DPS only game was a just easy way that dev’s tough it would be better and easier way to balance the game.
The only content i ended doing in gw2 was WvW even that has huge problems…
Gw2 is just a common themepark game with good graphics, the rest is nothing new, even ascenced gear show how game is disorganized.

Actually atm im playing gw1…

This is your opinion and I do not share it. In my opinion your statement is entirely false. I realy like the story and the mechanics of GW2. Compared to GW1 I had a hard time focusing on the story and get a feeling for the world until the end of Profecies and Factions, Nightfall was on the other hand perfect. I liked the story of EotN too.

GW2 story is realy interesting and makes me wanna see more, both LS and Main story and I realy hope that LS will mix in with the main story later.

I think the amount of new players have increased on Gunnars Hold (EU) Med/Low pop server what I know.

It could have just been a very odd timing but yesterday I was doing some exploring on Gandarran fields and I ran in to several big groups of players (No bots and no Champ farmers). We helped eachother to do events and roaming champions.
I estimate the # to have been around was 20 players during an hour playtime on Gendarran Fields.

Later same day I was going to help my friends with Forsaken Halls in Dredgehaunt cliffs where I started the event up at snowslide ravine. While doing this event more and more players gathered and we ended up being a total of 8 players doing the same Mini-Dungeon.

After that we decided to do a CoE run and while doing the events around the middle point we ran in to four other players so that makes a total of nine players.

It wasn’t that many if you just count the numbers but for the duration of time we spent on the maps compared to how many other players we met it is quite alot IMO.

The “problem” GW2 has is that it devides all players all over the world and inside dungeons and Fractals… Where you actually see players is in LA and DR so I beleave that it is still doing good.

BTW about giving out games for free or with discounts usually don’t mean it is going bad it could also be the opposite. What if sales are good enough that you can give away games for free or have discounts so that there will be more players playing the game and use the money on Gems… That’s atleast where I think they get their money from, not from the box sales. I assume most players who has spent money on gems have spent more money on gems than on the actual game purchase.

Look at DDO, I thought that game was going to die when stores all over my country sold it for less than 3$. It was the cheapest MMO I have ever seen. Few months after that the game got F2P and can’t say it’s thanks to the F2P model but the game is still living and updating.

Honestly, after GW2 I don’t even want GW1 anymore. GW2 has so soured my opinion on Anet I would never purchase a game developed by them again, hell…I’d love to get my money the hours I’ve spent on their games back even.

GW2 has been nothing but a categorical disappointment, should have gotten a refund back in beta instead of assuming Anet would fix anything. Seriously, all I wanted was GW1 with an open world and jumping, not asking a lot.

I would have been happier with paying $60 for literal Prophecies with a jump button.

And still you are here yappin’.

Sorry you have got the raw deal here but I like GW2 much better how it is now than how it would have been with GW1 with open world and jumping.

Atleast I have a feeling I am still playing Guild Wars when I play Guild Wars 2.
The models and movements of characters and skills, the enemies and alot of the story.
For me it feels like GW2 is a perfect “upgrade” of GW1 with just what you mentioned (Jumping and open world) but with lots more like Crafting, Jumping Puzzles, Events, tasks, movements while channeling skills (no stale turret combat), no stupid trinity, waypoints.
What I do miss is; Guild Hall, Cantha, the ability to save and load builds and Heroes iow Henchmens that you can outfit and trait(Though I read that they don’t want that in the game I sill miss it).

Edit:
Quoting Vayne (It won’t quote as it should)

Most of the manifesto still holds up, even if people like to pick it apart and take specific lines out of context. We’ve been over and over this.

For example, the manifesto, the video I’m talking about here, mentions neither vertical progression nor gear grind.

The grind line is defined in the manifesto itself. Colin says, “in most games there’s this annoying grind before you get to the fun stuff”. Ergo that’s the grind he’s talking about.

The manifesto as a statement of intent is fine. People choose to interpret it differently than it was meant, and that remains a problem…but it’s not entirely Anet’s problem.

Anet says something like, there should be no grind to get to the fun stuff!
People read no grind and that means they have said NO GRIND!
Well… Depends on how you look at it, the fun stuff is it to have a Legendary to brag about it? or is it to play the game and every content of it?
I don’t have a legendary… I have ascended accesories, one ascended weapon and soon I am able to craft me half of my armor ascended.
I havent farmed or Grinded any part of the game… But well that depends on what you call it, I do all Scarlet attacks I can since I like to do them(havent done them for a while now though), I did grind boxes during the south sun LS for about an hour a day since I liked running around doing events with all other players(it is such a nice experience playing with others without having to group).

The only way to effectively turn your character, is with the right-mouse button, but this can only happen while moving.

ehm… no. I turn my character all the time with only using the mouse.

Left click hold + move the mouse turns camera but not you,
right click hold + move the mouse turns your whole character.

You are wrong. Holding right mouse button down doesn’t turn your character. It never has. There have been countless threads on this subject in the suggestions forum since beta. Holding either left or right mouse button down function the same.
Read the last 2 words in my quote… it only works while moving.

You are quite right but I wan’t to add that instead of pushing once A or D press S or W while keeping right-mouse button pressed and you will notice you character aligning with the camera. I do this all the time while doing JP’s though it feels like I am always keeping the right-mouse button down XD

It is funny how some have compaired the camera in GW2 with other games by saying try doing a JP in GW2 without the camera to flip out. I say try doing a JP in any other MMO. SWTOR has some and LotRO has one and they all stink compaired to GW2 JP’s.

Dodge.

I went back to WoW for a few days when they were offering free play time and the one thing i missed more then anything was dodging, that and moving while casting.

Also the graphics in GW2 are superior to any other mmo.

Every class can cast something while moving. I don’t know why some of the people here insist on being dishonest when describing other games.

umm im not being dishonest, unless they have changed every single caster in WoW to cast while moving in the last few months what i said is 100% true.

WoW is incredibly outdated these days in every aspect, they are desperately playing catch up, look at there new expansion, they have copied paste things from more modern mmos.

Yes, you are. While you can’t cast everything while moving, you can cast some things and you certainly aren’t rooted in one place for a duration of the fight.

It’s more like evolving rather than desperately playing catch up, while GW2 devolved by introducing an obvious, flat out gigantic grind with the introduction of ascended gear.

Warlock 2.5 sec rooted Shadow Bolt fillers and 3 sec rooted Chaos Bolts ftl.

I went back and watched our Heroic kill of Deathwing and it was just awful, sitting there, rocking back and forth casting shadowbolt fillers. Ugh, never again.

Cataclysm ended over a year ago. You obviously don’t even play any more, like most of the others here, and therefore have no idea what you’re talking about.

I will say this, however. Roleplaying a zergling and spamming 1 doesn’t sound like much fun.

Just looked it up on WoWhead, buddy. Nothing has changed, those spells root you like a turret making for the most BORING combat mechanics ever created.

The spec that casts chaos bolt, doesn’t have access to shadow bolt. And each spec has the ability to cast their main spell while moving, if they so choose. Stop being dishonest.

What makes the combat here so great? Dodge? I tried this game and found it to be awful. What strategy is there? What optimization? You just run up and spam your tiny number of buttons because it doesn’t matter. And dodge once in a while, randomly, because you can’t see past the particle spam.

Solo PvE isn’t a challenge, in dungeons you pull to a wall and stack, and in WvW/world champ farming, you roleplay a zergling and spam 1.

Because plugging in macros and boss mods make a game challenging?

WoW is such a borefest spreadsheet game, it got completely ridiculous when we could predict down to the hour when we would take a boss down because a tank got a shield drop or a healer got a trinket. It’s no wonder they lost 3 million subs since GW2 launched.

And yet only a small percentage of people manage to complete heroic raids.

Your oversimplification is dishonest.

And you claiming that GW2 is all about spamming 1 isn’t?

Sorry, just had to.
We can all exaggerate when there is something we don’t like but the claim is still that is too much of that for the person to like the game.

C’mon it’s a new game, people expecting it to be exactly like GW1 but a little better has got something wrong. Even if the name is GW->2<- It does not imply that it has anything to do with the lore and so on. Everyone loves Final Fantasy and not a single Final Fantasy from 1-12 has had the same lore and story as the other and also the mechanics is different in every game.

But in difference to people who complain about GW2 not being GW1 and can’t play GW1 since it has no more updates forgets that they sometimes can return and play the old Final Fantasy games when they feel like it and it has no updates at all!

I like GW2 more than GW1 so in my opinion GW2 is realy a wonderfull sequel and a perfect upgrade, everything is better and there is only a few things I miss from GW1 that isn’t in GW2 but it isn’t to late for it to come anyway.

There are actually alot of cool armors that you can get from just playing the game and also as a new player I advice you to not use your Gem-store armor until you have enough transmugation stones since you will swap armor alot in the beginning.

This is pretty funny to read

OP ask for a new expansion I guess, just like many others do.
What they are forgetting is that when an expasion has been released there will be new content for a week and after that there will be complaining about too little content. There will be new bugs, new maps to spread out the population on hence will lead to even more comments like ‘Is GW2 dead, I see no other players’.

I have also been playing since the headstart but I have actually taken a few breaks already (Just a week break) and when I get back I just love the game.
Some players play the game to be best and some enjoy the game and when you have done everything why is it so hard for you to accept it that you are done for now? Take a break and come back later.

Usually this game has an update every two weeks so come back in February and there will maby be some new content you can enjoy. As Taku says, it’s not like this game has any subs.

Poorly Programmed NPC Scammed Me 40g

in The Nightmare Within

Posted by: EdgarMTanaka.7291

It’s the old “buy 2 hours worth of 50% Magic Find for 100 spores” scam.

Some points:

  • It takes spores from safe boxes and presumably invisible bags.
  • It doesn’t mention exactly what you get in return.
  • It doesn’t warn you not to change map or log out.
  • It’s unbelievably bad value for “money”.

And yes, it scammed me for 100 spores when I mis-clicked on something by accident.

I can agree with this… that is bad but OP’s claim sound wierd. Even though it is bad programed NPC how can you repeat that same action how many times?
12g per 250Spore and OP claimed He/she lost 40g ~ 4 stacks = 1000spores…
Was this action repeated ten times or was there something I missunderstood?

I can immagine:
Oh, what does this do?
Buy luck boost
Hmm… Nothing…? Maby I didn’t buy it?
Buy luck boost
Still nothing, is it bugged? I’m gonna try again.
Buy luck boost
Whatte!? I want luuuuuuuck!!!

As you may know there have been updates to the story and Lore but not the original one, I guess thats what you mean.
It has been changes every month showing that Anet listens to thier community and if you provide constructive and good feedback you may have your wish come true.

Claiming that they only do JP’s is bull and some called Bazaar of the four winds a JP but it was not. It was rather hard for some to explore the area but many complained about it and gave constuctive feedback on it so when/if it comes back we may have alternative routes to take.

It’s not possible for Anet to change content you assume bad in one second, one day or even a month for that matter. It takes time and effort.

Your post was not cosntructive IMO.
- What is Actual content? ~In my opinion Guild Wars 2 have had actual content every two week.
- Expanding on the story/Lore? ~Isn’t that what they are doing with the Living Story, you havent seen the full story so how fo you not know that it has anything to do with the main story. Lore wise, almost every new word in the LS is a new lore for the game.
- World has been expanded, we have got South Sun and Bazaar. ~But we all know what happened to South Sun don’t we? We got another map that to spread out the playerbase. And so again IMO, let Anet concentrate on making all maps interesting for all players before they add more maps.

The running thing in the game though I agree with, Tower of Nightmare was awesome but got ruined becouse people decided to run through everything and ruin the enjoyment for everyone decided to stay and fight. Also dungeons are boring to do when every team I party with wan’t to finnish it ASAP and skip through most of the content. I say that is something I would like to have fixed, like doors blocking people from running or no reset on pulled enemies until party whipe.

Are you trying to insult me? I haven’t sent any application to any game company so don’t worry.
‘I am a musician not a programmer’

Also this is not about balance it is about doing dailies. Doing one of five dailies gives you one AP and some times there is a Daily where you just have to visit a Laurel Vendor to get 1AP. IMO to donate 1G is harder than to visit a Laurel Vendor but easier than doing a Boss day daily for example.

In other words, the point of my idea wich I don’t care for at all anyway. I just meant that if gold for AP was introduced I mean that 1AP a day for 1G at best or else GW2 AP system will go down the drain. Since I don’t like the idea from the start.

Guild Wars 2 Design Manifesto

So much crap pouring out in this thread so I hope it will get locked.
There is no cunstructive feedback at all and it only brings hate, no one is making GW2 better in this thread!
I even read some say in this thread that they have stopped playing GW2 because of the break of manifesto, so what are they even doing on this forums!? I bet they are complaining on other forums too.

In my opinion; Guild Wars 2 is one awesome game and the best MMO that’s out on the market at the moment. I returned to LotrO when they released HD and i played it for a week or two but now it is crap, I don’t wanna return becouse that game is grinding your ears out, FedEx quests, Massive ammounts of levels and time to spend on getting them and I have to spend hours doing FedEx quests I don’t like.
In GW2 I have so many options to level.
I don’t have to level to 80 to play with my friends or enjoy the new content.
I don’t have to craft ascended gear to feel usefull in WvW or PvP.
And that is only a few examples.

I have been enjoying Guild Wars 2 from release and I have taken a break from it during the Fractals update but I came back for wintersday and if I take a break I will always come back to see each new update.

Manifesto or not, this game is my favorite game and Devs are doing a realy good job with the game and the forum doing the impossible, trying to please everyone.

4. Donate to Winterdays to get part of the achievements, is outragous.

This is suppose to be a game that is fun and you doing all the above is not making it fun. Why are you guys constantly looking for ways to take the money we spend hours trying to get? Where does the money really go? into thin air as the NPC’s are not real people, WP, TP and Winterdays Donation do nothing but STEAL FROM US.
We spend grinding hours of trying make money or get items which is getting to the point of NOT FUN. NOT FUN GET IT????

1. Using quick travel from one point to another in other MMO’s costs, why shouln’t it in GW2? +It’s a gold sink.
2. It has always been there in all MMO’s I have played and even in RL so why not? +It’s a gold sink.
3. Becouse you are not supposed to be farming or grinding for gold, you are supposed to be enjoying playing the game. If you enjoy farming and grinding, then by making it harder would mean it’s more fun right? XD
4. You don’t have to do it, each day there is a new wintersday daily that you can compleate to succesfully earn the Tixx toybox. If you are after 100% succses rate I can inform you that when that LS is over, the uncompleated achievement’s won’t show.
3 gold is not that hard to get your hands on iether by the way.

ow…
I do not like that idea, sorry.
It’s good as it is, not infinite pls.
People with money lot’s of real money can buy gems and then buy AP.
People would farm money more than ever too buy AP.

It could be a daily to it, donate one gold for 1AP once a day.

+1

I like your post OP and I agree with you.

Though the negative side will always “win” on forums… Even if you post a possitive post like this one negative posters will fill it with negativity over how wrong you are and most of the players who agree’s with you don’t even look at these whiny forums for all different reasons.

Though there are already a few good comments in here and I like that but atleast one who has to go calling you Fanboy in hopes that you will be convinced that you are not and will start to not like the features in GW2. Everyone who says that GW2 is the best game yet is a Fanboy, is that wrong?
I am a fan of this game since this is in my opinion the best game and I will tell people how good this game is and that most updates has been awesome does not mean that others have to think the same. Just as everyone spreads their negativity we fanboys has all the right to say what we like about the game without getting to hear the word fanboy as some kind of a curse.

Class Balance [Killshot OP]

lol this thread was fun to read

Anyway one thing that OP is saying later in this topic is that he/she has problems dodge/reflect/parry this skill in big encounters like; what if there is 2 warriors casting killshot with 1sec in between but you only notice one of them. You also notice that a cow is falling down on your possition and also a warrior and Guardian and a mesmer is trying to melee you down (You are attaking a tower). You save your dodges to negate the killshot and you know to dodge now when the shot is fired and you say ‘HAHA’ and 1sec later you are downed and 2sec after that you are dead to the 3 melee enemies too. Poor warrior who missed since he/she will get nothing but the other sniping warrior will say ‘headshot!’ and feel proud and skilled.

I can agree with OP that a instakill or almost instakill skill is quite gamebreaking, sure it is easy to dodge and see but not in all situations. After reading this topic I have learned that I will use Killshot with my warrior in WvW when I havent been noticed.

Before I played GW2 I played LotrO and there is a skill hunters has that is almost like killshot (or it was atleast). It has long induction and does almost isnstakill but this skill when used has a big crossair above the targets head to indicate to you to ‘get out or die’.

Well in my case …
- Wildstar looks like crap and is far away from the ganre I like so that one is out of my list.
- Elder scroll online is and will be realy bad in the end I am pretty sure of it since hype has made it so good and when people will actually play it and compleated it and is in a situation just like some people are now in GW2 their forums will sound just like some posts here. I have never liked the Elder scroll games and the trailers I watched about the game, I can’t just see what others think is so good with the game.
-
GW2 is a realy good game, people have been playing it for over one year and ofc some people don’t like it and some people have gotten tiered of the stuff to do and sure some people don’t like the bi-weekly updates. But I am one of those who have played GW2 from start and I still like this game very much and I think Anet does a wonderfull job with updates and communication compaired to other companies. So I am not loosing faith in Anet, I am sure that Gw2 will stay a good game and maintain a good playerbase enough to survive the Hype of other games.

I think it’s the Molten Steam Alliance idk lol

It does look like something to do with the Steam Creatures.

All races with cyber punk steam parts of their bodies!!!
Yesssss, we miss that.

/sarcasm off
I REALLY, REALLY hope we will have a lond nice break from Scarlet and finally get some nice real updates like we used to before few months (in story way).

I don’t think they will take a break from the scarlet LS, I think they have a finnished story written about scarlet and that they want to have it in the game and over with ASAP. I myself don’t mind scarlet but if I was the creator of scarlet and the storyline I would want it over and done and not prolong the suffering of Scarlet haters making utterly silly and stupid jokes on the forums.

In short, they have to take the LS to the end and atleast I would want a conclusion.

[Merged] Think "Mounts" outside the box!

in Suggestions

I don’t get why people are against it?

If people don’t want it they won’t use it so what’s the problems? Other than giving valid precise points as to why it’s bad a lot of it seems to be naysayers for the sake of being naysayers.

The wasted development is a point, but PvE has tons of resources that I doubt this would hurt anything. Also I’m sure there are more than enough people willing to go for it that a-net can turn a profit if quality assurance is with it. (Again don’t make WoW’s TRH)

Many have stated good reasons why.

- Unnecessary clutter.
- Requires Dev time wich is “needed” somewhere else since Mounts is not “needed”.
- Mounts isn’t just a click and paste resource, it requires alot of work and alot of code and alot of memory and alot of server capacity. Do you complain about a laggy game? you should not want mounts then.
- People are never happy. If useless mounts where to be introduced (AE No special speed boost) People would post suggestions about giving mounts with higher speed.
- Yes, people are never happy. When mounts is introduced with speed boost people will suggest mounted combat and/or flying mounts.

Oh by the way, I want super powers like in Champions Online and I want traveling skills with that, would have been so cool to sprint through Aschalon is 2sec and killing enemies with blasts will throw them away with ragdoll effect. I mean PvE has tons of resources so I doubt that would hurt anything.

I wan’t to thank Anet Devs for doing something and so much that not many other game companies does.

You show us you are also human beings and does mistakes and isn’t Entertainers, Elitists, Programers, Engineers, gods or Rangers all in the same time.
I am happy that you give so much time to the community, thanks employees of Anet.
