I sit at loading screens

cache it, DO SOMETHING, i should not have go through 4-5 screens to change bank items on 2 chars. GOD FORBID I FORGET SOMETHING ON ONE.

So you would rather have a 5 minute log-in screen every time you select a character?

Yea that reminds me of Lotro… :P It realy is 5 min loading screen switching between characters in that game That is a game where I don’t jump between my alts becouse of loading screen.

I sit at loading screens

It takes me seconds to jump between completely different maps, as mentioned, your computers sucks, stop complaining about something outside ANET control.

Get an upgrade, CPU and SSD being the most improvement for loading.

get a braincell, i never said ANYWHERE that i DIDNT have an ssd.

You could start by being more polite. You should cool down and take a chillpill, people are trying to give you advice.

So… How long loading times are we speaking about? The only long loading times I have is when I load LA and DR and I avoid these places as much as I can. Other maps takes under 5 seconds for me to load and I have no SSD.

giving advice on a subject they havent even thought or read about…. they saw title and just slapped their faces into their desk like 6 times…. i dont need some nerdbeard telling me to get an ssd when im 95% disgusted with the number of loading screens to perform menial tasks in game.

I thought it was a good advice, becouse an SSD lowers the loading time and that means less time sitting and waiting on loading screens…

So what you are saying is that you don’t want loading screens, Anet should rework their whole game becouse you don’t like loading screens? Or that you hate all loading screens so you are leaving the game.

Or are you just telling us that you hate loading screens and you just want to inform us just that?

Hmmm… I realy don’t like buff, muscular male characters.

Perfect solution to SW Amber farm

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I like how SW works and how it should work… I like the reasons to do them too… But maby if you get shovels for succesfully kill an underground champion awards players with shovels… Or remove keys from trader and add Shovels and give out keys as a reward for each champion defeated.

We need more carrots to do the intended events and less carrots to farm one single spot.

Edit: oh and also the gem store option.

Slow walking among enemies

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: EdgarMTanaka.7291

EdgarMTanaka.7291

Why does your character slow down when you engage in combat?

I find this very annoying because most of the time when I’m traveling around I do not want to stop and kill every single trash mob I run into. So i run pass them, which works, unless I get hit by something, because now all of a sudden I’m unable to run normally. Why is this? Why does this feature even exist? Why can’t I just be left alone and run passed enemies I don’t want to fight even if some of them manage to hit me.

Just remembered how annoying this was when trying to do jumping puzzles.

Why it is like that? Umm.. Becouse if you are hit you are supposed to stay and fight, or use you skills to get away. It is there to make the game challangeing even when/if you run from point A to B. The game would be pretty booring if you could just run past everything … just look at a few dungeons where players just skip 80% of a dungeon. Meh…

Spirnt, dodge, block and skills to increase the gap between you and the enemies.

I suggest you try them out yourself, if you cant afford to buy a new char slot you can delete the character you are unhappy with and roll a new.

I do not know what you will like.
IMO Engi and Guardian is the once I like playing the most.
Mesmer is cool but gets easy booring.

And do you play PvE? If so why try to aim for a specific build? Try to find what build you enjoy to play the most yoursel, PvE isn’t that hard.

It’s kinda of topic but I wanna salute Scizwig.5492 for putting energy to his/her sugestion and also be so understanding to the comments recieved.

On to topic a little bit.
I realry like this game alot and I would feel like a piece of my heart would be ripped away if they introduced Mounts… I so much don’t want this game to be another “ordenary” MMO. I also do not like pocket mounts, even in lotro where they made it look like you where calling on your horse it still magically apeared by my side.

I have said it in an old Mount topic but as far as mounts come I would not mind if they introduces mount like they have in GW1 where they are usable on that zone only and they have their own skills and uses like; a siege devourer, Char made tank, low flying helecopter (The ones who looks like a helmet), Siege Golems and more. But as I said only made for that zone and most of them are not faster than moving by foot.

Please make torch mainhand too

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: EdgarMTanaka.7291

EdgarMTanaka.7291

Torch Torch thief would be great, second to only rifle Mesmers. Anet needs to see just how good these two things would be for the game.

I know alot in the game is not logic but… What makes Dual wield Torch great? Who fights battles with two torches? What stealth class would find two torches good for quick and easy kills and hiding?

I just don’t see torch as a mainhand weapon at all, becouse it is not… It’s like mainhand a shield (Yea I know some have asked for that too).

Please enlight me how good torch as mainhand and Rifles for mesmers would be for the game, what makes it soo good? (Except that it leads to more skills becouse I would rather have new weapons like Whips, Pikes/Pole-arms, Battle-axe, crystal ball even and more.

Level scaling in PVE

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

EdgarMTanaka.7291

He rests his case. People laughed. I guess we’re done here, right? ;D

Hehe, no I am not done

Scaling players levels down in a game that is centered around leveling up is ridiculous regardless of what anybody says.

Its like running up the endless staircase in mario64, you get nowhere.

I forget what interview it was, but on a gamespot video two developers and two gamespot emplyees were all sitting around a couch and someone asked “Its not one of those games where you can get killed by a level1 boar at the end of the game right?” and they all started laughing and the developers said “No its not one of those games”

and the reason they laughed is because it is ridiculous and it is stupid. I rest my case.

Many have gave you good reasons to have levels in the game but it seems like you don’t want to see it (Or read it).

Almost each level unlocks something new for you to do, new skills, new story and new stuff to visit and do.
At level 30 you start to learn the basics of traiting you character and from there you will earn more traits as you level up.
For each level you as a player will learn how to play the game.
If you run to far you will end up in zones where levels are higher than you and you may end up with a mouth full.
In my opinion, when you are level 80 in this game the Tutorial is over and the game begins.

About your last statement… Well if you are a few levels over a level one creature and you die, iether you are realy bad or you are using level one gear. So if you have read what a few people has said before. Gear does difference, dont be blinded by the numbers of your level but if you are high level at a low level area your gear does alot of difference if you use gear for your level. So … A level one Boar can not kill a level 80 player.

What an awesome read!

I wanna join in!!!

A New player who has played a few hours is already complaining about; No open world PvP, no mounts, no special daily and more. And the topic is Level scaling in PvE.

I would want you to try the game more before you complain and try to enjoy the game with a new mindset of a new kind of MMO (as it is) and not the old usuall MMO’s that we all have played and left becouse of boredom of same old same old.

If you do not like it, I must say as some others have… Guild Wars 2 is not for you, level scaling has been atleast since release and it is a wonderfull and working concept.

Describe GW2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: EdgarMTanaka.7291

EdgarMTanaka.7291

I am going to try to describe this game as I would to a friend who asks me. I will try to avoid my fanboy vision of this game.

I will start to say if you happen to like WoW you will probably not stay and play GW2 too long. There is now gear threadmill and there is no point in doing Endgame conentet as there is no special weapon or armor that is better than anything else. You don’t need to farm for the best stuff in the game since you can do everything in the game with just mediocre stuff Except for a special dungeon where players advance in Dungeon levels and as the levels gets higher the dungeons gets harder and require you to equip special gear (That you will get in that dungeon). Most of the content in the game is focused on casual players so if you are a hardcore Raidplayer you may be disapointed as the difficulty is pretty easy. But if you usually don’t play games very much and you lack reactions you may find this game very hard as the Dodge system is the core of survival in this game.

Many people may claim that you have to grind/farm in this game and in some places in the game world you will find farmers that take advantage of failing “Quests” so that they will repeat fast and so that they can farm. There is no purpose of farming in this game, the only thing that it does is that you will get stuff quicker. If you just play the game and enjoy it you will eventually have what others farm their socks of and in my opinion as you farm you will get tired of repeating content and stopp playing. But if you like farming, there is a possebility for it.

I said “Endgame content” before, well this could be untrue for some and true for others. So as there is no gear threadmill and no raid and no Hardcore gamers stuff there is no “Endgame content”, but there is WvW, The special dungeon and Living story and these stuff can also be called “Endgame content” as they are best played when you have got maxed level and good gear and compleated the main story. These “Endgame content” is always there and there will always be something new for you.

Living Story? Well it is GW2 main thing and I think Anet is focusing on this. Living story is like what happens after the mainstory and it affects the world as it continues, it is an interesting story and it feels almost like following a Tv-show series as it has one new episode every 2 weeks except when there is breaks and that has bothered me the most. The breaks are way to long. I can’t decide for you if you like the living story so you will have to see it for yourself or read about it here http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Release .

Best MMO game ever

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: EdgarMTanaka.7291

EdgarMTanaka.7291

No, GW2 was the best MMO game ever.
Game starts to stale when you don’t add new content for like two years.
Beside, people who said they are “leaving” never said they won’t come back,
they will come back when Anet add new stuff. It’s free anyway.

@Zoso
Only new zones , and new story could count as “content”, and
the only new zone they add in 2 years is one map(nice map tho).
Yes, you are right. All the new stuff they add in this game is fee, so
I actually don’t understand why people complained soo much, but gw2
is definitely not the best mmo ever.
ps : holiday events are the same , they still use the same one.

Eum… EoTM, Southsun Cove and Dry Top. That’s 3, not one. Also you have to take in to account that Anet didn’t wanna make to many new maps during LS1 as they didn’t have Megaservers at that time wich would result in dead zones as it is in other MMO’s where only the new and interesting maps is overflowing with people. Now they have the Megaservers and they have started to make new maps, I cannot say for sure but it is pretty hinted that there will be another new map on november 4 (But I could be wrong). Also about holiday events, most MMO’s I have played has the same events every year with just some new fluff to farm for, why would GW2 be less good becouse they have the same thing as the other MMO’s? Heh…

Well in my opinion GW2 is the best MMO I ever played so far and you can’t say I definitely thing GW2 isn’t the best MMO. I get it that it is your opinion but you make it sound like OP is wrong about thinking GW2 is the best MMO.
I can’t think of any reason why I would find another MMO-RPG better than GW2.

Why Is The UI So Bad?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: EdgarMTanaka.7291

EdgarMTanaka.7291

I am not online atm but I think that if you hover your mouse cursor over your money you will see karma and Laurels too… I may be wrong… I have never thought about it though becouse I don’t realy need to see how much Karma and laurels I got since I got over 2 millions of karma and over soon over 200 Laurels… And I don’t use them anymore :P More numbers under my back would clutter my UI in my opinion.

Why does ArenaNet remove unachieveable achievements, but keep the bag slot lock there forever?
What do you mean with this one? You know that the last Bag slot is purchased with gems…? I have never tried but I see a gem price there when I hover over it.

As many has said, you can turn of most of the UI’s in the upper right corner (Default).

Why BLTC Gem shop is always shown first? Eh? Becouse that is what you desire when you press the Lions Head, if you wich to emedietly reach the auctioner window you talk to the NPC’s. Be happy that there is a way to reach the auctioner window without using an NPC.

Why is there no automatic salvaging (of rarity, can use, etc.)? Becouse even more complaints about “I salvaged something I didn’t want to, can I have a roll-back?”

Why is there no way to fix the spam of events that clogs the entire screen?
Wow, you must realy play with a small monitor :P Well why is maby becouse Event’s is one of the big things about GW2 so be sure not to miss them

Why is there no auto-loot?
Is it so hard to press F? Why becouse why would they make it easier for Bots to make a living?

I could make answers to almost everyone of your questions but I am too lazy… But remember that my answers does not have to be true they are only my opinions.

Tracking Guild Wars 2

Vayne, I am sorry but this post is pretty useless becouse it wont do any difference. Doom and gloomers will still be just that and people with skills in math and statistics will always fight about numbers they dug out for the internet. One is not right in the other ones eye and will always be so until hard facts is shown (And sometimes event that wont help).

It does not help that Vayne is almost always protecting claims about this game as he will be accused of being a fanboy or a secret Anet employee, so some people will go against Vayne just becouse of his former posts.

Ever since week 2-3 I have spoken with Guildies that is thinking about leaving the game becouse they find some stuff with GW2 booring and they mostly also say that the game is dieing becouse they havent seen alot of Guildies online for a while (1-3 Weeks). I have tried to have them come back in a few days saying that there will be and update soon or there will be the new living story next Teuseday and so on. Those who come back is still always leaving and coming back for new LS and Updates.

So in my experience in this game is that, people do leave… Maps are empty atleast during this long Feature pack break… And Feature pack didn’t give many people to come back it was more aimed to get new people online. So our latest update that made people log on was July 29… So ofc people has stopped playing (For a while), I myself hasent been very active during this break and I don’t like the long breaks but I think they are the very true reason to why we do not see as much activity now.

This Halloween is pretty lame too as it is more or less the same as last year and same achievments … Just some new fluff stuff to farm for… Meh… So I think not enough players will Come back now iether and say I will await November 4 instead.

I do not beleave this game is dieing, I left a game I thought was dieing, forums was even more doom and gloomy as this and they make cutbacks all the time but 2 years later the game is still alive and I think a new Expac is on the way.

PvP unbalanced as hell

Nice topic, wierd reason why PvP is as topic says, wrong place to post topic :P Should be moved to sPvP section.

So my conclusion is this, you seem to be a player who havant had the best experience in PvP at the moment and you seem to pick the first option there is and go with it (Since you choose to write in the wrong section).
Maby it’s not the class that is bad and I won’t say it is you but maby it is your class build that’s lacking. Warriors have tons of damage mitigating skills, also very good healing skills.

I have had might fights with many warriors (since Warrior is one very common played classes) and some are easy as pie just running around with longbow and some are realy good switching weapons and put out devistating attacks and almost permanent blocks and immunity.

In some ocations I think PvP is quite unbalanced but overall I think it works quite well.

is it why NO expansion?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: EdgarMTanaka.7291

EdgarMTanaka.7291

Well lets brake down what your asking for….

“it had been 2 yrs, no new class, no new skill add on existing character”

GW2 is a game where ever class is viable all the time so this means there is no need for more classes in a way each class in GW2 is a microcosmic of all class types in rpg but with there own class related flavor.
They had added in new skills and changed old skills to act like new. To add in countless skills would mean countless fixes for thoughts skills to be usable or not to be so powerful that other skills will become pointless.

“less then 5% map expand”

GW2 started out with a very big map bigger then most mmorpg just starting out to the point where you had dead maps early on because ppl even full world could not populate leading to bad events made for high numbers of ppl.
Prier to the mega world system you had to keep map expansion to a small amount or you would simply have death maps so the expanding maps is starting to kick up due to having this mega world system.
Added note its only a low % added so far because the starting map of GW2 was simply that big to start out with you would have to truly work at spamming maps to get a highish %.

“all the update goes to TP item”

That is how GW2 system works you can get any thing doing any thing you want. The TP or gem store is part of this ideal if you can get gold and use this gold for any thing in the game then any events or mob etc… you kill / do will get you to your goals.

The other things you said was just a rehash of what you said before the main point you fail to see is that LS are expansions. What your realty complaining about is the amount of content or the type of content that you have seen NOT if its from an big expansion or not. You can call LS as a small expansion and the tirdinal expansion as a big expansion this dose not very the type of content but the amount in a given time.

Time being the most important part if you take 6 months of LS you see a 6 month expansion the big different would be the amount of down time between content drops. In a LS type of expansion you have low down time between content updates but each update is not a major about kind of a 1 every 2 weeks. In a start expansion you see high down times between content updates but the updates are much bigger so say 13 every 26 weeks. The point is that your seeing the same content amounts over a time scale just the differences between the time lines in how content is put out.

So asking “why is there no expansion” is an out right silly question there has been many expansion added to the game some payed for as in gem store and some free as in LS events.

Wow, what horsekitten. Compared to other MMOs the added content is ridiculous. And yes, they promised updates every two weeks in early 2013 which they absolutely DON’T deliver. It’s now about the amount of content that every MMO gets WITHOUT the additional expansions with new continent/maps/zones, new classes or races, new crafting stuff etc.

Also there is an extreme focus on gem store – I wouldn’t complain if there wasn’t a lack of overall content: two minor maps in 26 months is kittening ridiculous! Even the smallest teams of MMOs like the ones from Secret World accomplished this.

No, it clearly is the misdirection of upper management that led the talented people of Anet without direction. Get used to it and stop defending this kind of update policy be cause there is nothing to defend.

Well it is not Horsedung, it is the actual truth. Ofcourse you don’t have to agree but it is still the truth. And what you are saying that there is an extreme focus on game store is on the other hand compleate Bull becouse if you compare the store to other games store there is so little added. It is pretty comical as I see comments exactly like this in the other MMO’s I play ‘The company only cares about their store, blablablaaa’.

This game might not have given us as much updated content as other MMO’s does in two years (Why would I care?), but it has give me now more than two years almost constant playtime and fun. The only times I played/play less has been during the feature pack breaks, but LS season 1 got me hooked through it all and the amount of content was enough to please me to keep me online everyday, the LS Season 2 is even better becouse now I can see how much content it actually is and I am happy for the players who starts to play later and miss the content as they can now play it too.

So for me I do not care if it is less content in GW2 becouse I have more fun playing GW2 than in other MMO’s waiting almost a year at a time to play one week of content and then grind for the next endgame gear or whatever crap they put in to the game to keep me playing the same crap over and over again.

agree and disagree.

i do rush a bit for my gw2 live. somehow it lost a bit of goal for it. however. if i am the only one why all my guild mate gone and not come back? is it all they play in rush? this is what the reality its. GW2 its losting players. ok if one or two people left possible will have their personal reason. but now it talking about 100. is it some thing not going right in this game?

I havent seen anyone answer this question… (Could have missed it).

When I started playing this game at headstart I joined a guild with friends from another I learned to know from another MMO, most of us came from other MMO’s becouse they started turning old and there where nothing new so we wanted to try something new and GW2 was realy realy hype at that time, it was so hype that I didn’t want to play it (Becouse I despice hype) but my gf convinced me to buy it.
Anyway, 6 of my IRL friends left GW2 after 1-3 weeks after they got level 80 and thought it was to easy to level and it wasn’t fun anymore so they when back to the vertical prog game WoW. A few months later 30-40 of my Guild mates from the old game went back to LotrO becouse an Expansion pack was released (They got tired of Lotro one week later and have never returned, our Guild in that game is dead). Later even more players decided that they didn’t find GW2 that entertaining so they went to try new MMO’s and I havent seen them since.
My point about this is that when a game is new alot of players will join and try it out but also many players wont find it as entertaining as they expected and they will go back to where they feel safe, to a game they know they like or find another game they like. I have also found people that say they don’t like GW2 and leave for a few months but then in the end they start to play GW2 again saying GW2 is not that good but there is no better MMO out there yet.

Now I am in a new big Guild that is not that big but it is ever growing and as long we are promoting our Guild it will live on. Poeple will always leave but there will always join new people if you don’t just leave the Guild to die.

To OP: About Katanas… I have a decent idea that you wanna make a Ninja as your thief with a Katana and the Ninja suit :P But to be perectly clear, Ninjas do/did not use Katanas. The ninja sword is Ninjató or something like that and is a Short sword with a straight blade.

So in my opinion Thiefs or Ninjas should not use greatswords as they are to heavy and slow and would not work as a quick, Small and stealthy weapon.

If it comes to ninja Japanese style weapons then

Katana = long sword
Wakizashi = short sword
Tanto = dagger

They could make Belinda’s stylized sword and dagger but that’s up to anet and making it into Gem Store.

Still the true ninja sword to the stories is Ninjato and also their dagger was the farmers tool Kunai?
Katana, Wakizashi and Tanto was used by other swordsmen like Samurai’s. no?

I’m French and I run the English client because I hate localized versions, with the filter off so I can see everything that’s spoken, and it’s not rare I’ll answer a question a French person asked in French. Where’s the harm?

As typical as this kind of thing is, I think it’s wrong and honestly pretty entitled. There’s a lot of reasons someone might have their client set to English even though it isn’t their own main language – maybe that language simply isn’t an option, or maybe they’re bad at English but use games in English as a way to practice it… To demand that people speak English only is making things extremely unwelcoming to a host of people.

I am from sweden, there is no sweedish client… If someone asks a question in swedish I usually /Wisper them the answer and also tell them that it is best to write in english on the map chat atleast. (Rarely happens but it has happened)

Sometimes on low population hours, I see a lot of German in the map chat. To be honest, it does slightly bother me, because I’d like to understand what people are saying, and I’d like to help when people have questions. However, these people chose to play on German servers, that the megaserver crudely mixes in with other servers. Wouldn’t be right to demand a player playing on a localized server to communicate through another language, right?

Though in this case there is a chat filter that filters out language. Like if you play with an english client you wont see what German client players write if you have this filter checked. But in this case this German player is playing on an English client and want to communicate with his/her Germna client friends (If I got OP correct). This will make this players who only like english(Player A) to react on one player talking german(Player even though Player A has the chat filter checked.

In some other games I have heard that you can even get banned if you speak another language than english in an english server, it’s just rumor but I rather not speak Swedish in open chats just to be sure.

Discrimination? (Non-English chat language)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: EdgarMTanaka.7291

EdgarMTanaka.7291

Hmm…
I run my chat filter off becouse I find it important to see what others are saying even if it is on another language, sometimes I can guess what is said and it is even fun to sometimes look it up ^^

Anyway I am from sweden and there is no swedish client so ofcourse I am playing on an english client. I think that if you are playing on an english client you should therefore only speak english in chat if you don’t know for sure it is okay to speak other languages in that chat channel.

So for this one player to tell the other player to not speak German in chat is in my opinion not inappropriate even though this player will block or not since what He/she does is to inform of what’s right and wrong. Telling someone ‘I will block you’ is no offence as also in my opinion is to say ‘I wont listen to you anymore’. So again, if you play on an english Client speak english and if you play on a German client speak German, the language filter was made for a reason.
I don’t wanna come out rude or anything sorry if I did, it is just my opinion.

I haven’t played too much sPvP now but I have done last PvP monthly and some more of Hot Join sPvP and there is a massive increase of rangers and they are all going longbow and pewpews from a distance XD It is realy silly. I don’t mind though since it is as easy as ever to whin maches (as long as I don’t join a team with alot of rangers) in HJ now since rangers don’t cap :P

For PvE I just love how good my ranger is now, I personally didn’t have any problems with my ranger before and now I can do everything I did before but twice as fast

I do agree with you OP.

I realy like this game and sometimes I support it so much so I am sure I am blinded by Fanboyism :P
Just now I have after 2 years of playing starting to play less and less though… But life goes on and there are new games on the market that I have to try but as soon as the LS starts again I will play alot as usuall and that is one BIG thing with GW2 and it is that I can play it whenever I want too, I don’t have to pay for a month to play a week.

And as AxleSauce says… I can’t play other MMO’s anymore, they all feels so slow, stale and just way too ‘meh…’. When it was new I was trying ESO with my brother but for every quest I did I became tired and started asking me ‘what am I doing?’ I went from quest to quest and just followed a silly quest marker and I did the quests just so I could level up and get more skills and stuff. That is how every single MMO I have played works accept for GW2. I can’t speak for everyone else but when I Leveled my characters I never played to level up but too explore and what I realy did love was that I could explore and do whatever I wanted and I leveled up anyway, so what I am saying is that the “regular” MMO’s you more or less has to do Quests to level up as the quests is the only thing that gives you decent EXP but that is far from how GW2 works.

I like this suggestion.

It sounds like a few Indie games I am playing on steam right at the moment

First when I read the store bought stuff was to drop in the dungeon I was ‘Nah that wont work’ but after I read that true statement how usefull they will be to traverse further in the dungeon it actually sounds like Anet can make an extra buck or two after a while. As for me I have been saving them since I started playing on head start so I got over 60-70 of each :P Would be nice to finally find some use for them

This is something I realy hope for

Too few players wanting difficult content?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

EdgarMTanaka.7291

Also – speaking of resenting the game – I resent the game because players who are less skilled can get just about everything I can in game with almost no effort put in their build, their play style or anything else.

Umm… It is a game, it is not a competition. In my PvP experience I find it entertaining to figure out a good build to fight the easy to play builds like Ham/bow or MM’s
I usually don’t brag but I would say that my skill usually overcomes those with no skill but easy to win builds. And talking PvE then, sure I don’t like the “Zerk is the only thing” stuff, so I don’t play with people with that mindset and I play how I like. I don’t care if someone can solo Arah but I can’t. What I don’t like is that needed content is locked behind too hard content for me, luckely it is not like that in GW2 but I don’t want that iether.

So what I say is that I don’t mind hard content but it shouldn’t reward you with something you can’t get without playing hard content but it should indeed be rewarded better than easy or normal content. Like more loot, more champion loot, higher special drop rate, and more tokens and so on.

Too few players wanting difficult content?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: EdgarMTanaka.7291

EdgarMTanaka.7291

There’s plenty of content for your style of play, Vayne. However, not everyone has the same style of play. They should be allowed to ask for content that they want. Yes, the new content may affect those who don’t want it, but the content for your style of play affects those who don’t want it too.

What I’m saying is the rewards may well affect my style of play, or how I play the game. If there’s enough rewards that I can’t get in a game, I’ll eventually feel that game isn’t for me. Surely I’m not alone in that, and surely pointing that out isn’t telling Anet not to make harder content. I’m just asking them to be careful with how rewards are offered.

I’m pretty sure TA Aetherblade path has proved that hard content itself is not enough. It has to have better rewards that aren’t RNG. And that becomes an issue for the game itself, if enough of those things are around that the majority of players can’t get or will feel forced to try to get.

Imagine if they hid a really cool awesome mini quaggan for some reason, in TA Aetherblade path.

At the very least, those rewards from that harder content should be sellable, which means that it won’t be the badge that many hard core players want their characters to have (like Fractal skins are).

If you could please – explain to me why other people having stuff you can’t get makes you want to quit the game instead of motivating you to work towards getting that stuff if you want it so much.

I quit WoW becouse it forced me to play raids and grind for the best gear to stand a chance in PvP (Long time ago).
I quit LotrO becouse it forced me to play raids and grind for the best gear to stand a chance in PvP to get better PvP armor. Also it forced me to craft alot in an enoyingly booring craft system.
These games for me just ended as work work work… Sure there was alot of stuff to do but it was pretty booring and repetative.

I play games becouse I want to have fun and relax, not to feel the need to keep up and do booring stuff becouse I need it to do some fun stuff. GW2 have had their bad stuff and it aint perfect but I am still hooked.
And as I said before to stay on topic, what I realy miss is a Easy/Normal/Hard for atleast dungeons.

The changes to level 1-10 would be irrelevant for most players. If that’s the kind of thing that makes you very very sad, I’m not sure what to tell you. I feel this is an over reaction.

I would normally agree with this but…
1) It’s limiting the game. Whether or not it’s affecting me isn’t important.
2) Dancing in front of cows, rather than feeding them is so astronomical stupid that I simply can’t get over that.

Wha-whaaaaat!? Dancing in front of cows!½!½111!!! THIS IS HORRIBLE, OUTRAGOUS, IT HAS A MASSIVE NEED TO TYPE IN BIG EXTRA THICK TEXT SO EVERYONE SEES IT! Oh I am quitting this game! Dancing in front of cows!? What comes next, mounts!? pchhtt…

Players mass-reporting other players

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

EdgarMTanaka.7291

This thread is about mass-reporting right? Owell…

It is silly to even think that mass reporting should even work, Anet should need evidence to ban someone so if there is a reason to getting banned sure mass reporting works but if not you should be safe.

In this case compleating an event is not banable, but if you happen to reply to the players who don’t like what you did and maby you openly tell them with words that you greif them or so … well suit yourself in my opinion.

But also in my opinion every darn player who fail the event with purpose for the point of farming should be banned or atleast banned as they exploit the game. So instead of taking advantage of this players should report this as a BUG. I am pretty sure this isn’t inteded and there will be a fix to it soon enough.

Hey Edgar, you should try Drytop. There are plenty of events there that require real skill, and plenty that don’t, but if you stick to the ones that do you should have a lot of fun. You need a full map to hit T6, but even if you’re the only guy on the map you can solo a lot of the content if you know what you’re doing. The more personally tricky challenges are the toad on top of the rock spire at XX:05+20+35, the Chickenado at xx:40+50, the mine debris clearing at XX:40+50, the Race at XX:00+15+30, and Moa at that same time if you can get at least a few other people with you. The bigger bosses are also often fun, but tend to require at least 10-20 people around.

I don’t see why it has to be an all or nothing approach which many here seem to suggest it is.

I think we can have content that is more challenging that provides greater rewards that aren’t game breaking with this content not being crucial to the overall game play.

Yeah, I don’t mind that there is content in the game that is “harder” than I personally like. I only mind it when that content gets unique rewards (like the Teq/Wurm minis and ascended armors), or when they spend too much time working on that sort of content and not enough working on more “general” content.

Heya. yea I know about Dry Top and it is awesome, the difficulty though is iether to hard or to easy there :P

Sorry TL:DR, I am just to tired today… But I skimmed the OP so I am going to see if I am on topic… Sorry if not.

For me there is alot of challanging content but not enough. I am quite the lonely player so I play alone or with one friend or to most of the time and it is only on weekends I can gather a group of 5 to do something challanging like dungeons and Fractals.
After the update to fractals I havent played it more than 5 times becouse my friends who plays on the weekends isn’t good enough so we can never compleate the Story instance for fractals or more like the way the boss mechanic in the Reactor is built to totaly ruin it for them since they are just not good enough. Though I have played with some guild mates (Wich I rarely do) and finnished it simple and clean so it is hard to say if it is easy or hard, it is hard enough to try 3 weekends with lots and lots of deaths on the boss (Like a brick wall for us), so we gave up but it is easy enough playing with my experienced Guildmates.
In short, if you play it a few times you learn how to compleate it and then it is easy all of a sudden… But some players never learn, some can’t possition them selves right, some can’t jump (Robot/Laser barrier room), some can’t dodge, some just don’t bother to find good builds and more.

I would dare to say that I am very good at this game but I am afraid to play with people I don’t know so what I do miss alot is Solo/Duo/Triple content that is challanging and not punishing like achievements in the living story (You don’t know until the part is done if you compleated it or not).

For me getting ready for a whole hour and going online on Team Speak or other Voice chats is not for me so… I have never even seen Wurm or Teq being defeated :-/
After the MegaServers think I thought I would give it a try but nah… Never bothered… It’s not hard the way I want it, I mean there are alot of players who have beaten Teq but more or less just standing afk, sure it’s not thanks to them Teq was downed but it is possible.

And Zerg content… I realy do like Zerg content… I don’t care for the best places to farm or bother to farm at all but before the nerf to Scarlets minion attacks on different maps I had a wonderfull time, I though it was realy entertaining hunting minnions down. But after the nerf and other good farming spots where found Scarlets Minion attacks was not interesting for many players anymore and for me I was unable to do the events anymore becouse no one where doing them. So sad. I also liked the feeling of succeding so for example the first time Queens guantlet was introduced I had a blast but the second time when a Timer was placed, you had to defeat all bosses under this time and lots of players had to listen to eachother to manage Gold or Silver even, the fun ended for me… I liked the idéa but it was so easy to ruin it, just needed some players not reading the chat.

Zergs in WvW though is the worst and it is so booring so I havent touched WvW for a realy long time now. Most of the times it feels like the biggest mobs win and in the end people are just running around searching for roamers, avoiding zergs and attacking empty forts.

I think it is not easy making content to please everyone, I wan’t more easier content and I want more harder content too… So what I have been asking since release of this game is please give us a Easy/Normal/Hard mode option atleast on dungeons.

Q: No direct trading between players?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: EdgarMTanaka.7291

EdgarMTanaka.7291

Curtis Johnson

Hey guys,

The no face-to-face trade is a real decision and it’s primarily a question of trust (as many of you have noted). But it’s also a decision to protect players from scamming and protect the economy from black-markets. Let’s run through some quick examples.

1) Give something to my friend. – As several of you noted, target your friend, right click the item and select ‘mail-to…’. Done, this works in contact list, guild list, or in world anywhere without having to ‘meet’ them or ‘catch’ them.

2) Get a fair price for an item (anti-scam). – Because ALL trading goes through the trading post we can guarantee that highest bidder meets lowest seller and we can give every player the benefit of current market information.

3) Barter item-for-item. This is the grey area and also the most risky kind of trade because even with UI many items look alike in icon and many social engineering scams take place in this kind of system. It’s a risky trade environment which is why when you support it you have to have these multi-stage UI’s where everyone double-checks everything, and then eventually get’s lazy and stops double-checking and gets scammed anyways.

In the end we decided with super easy access to mail for trusted trades and trading post for untrusted trades that such a system wasn’t worth the risk, complication, and fragmenting the player market off of the trading post..

In testing we’ve found that mail is easier 90% of the time we’d want trade and the other 10% trading post is far safer and avoids drama and thing like random trade windows being thrown at you and lots of other unsavory hawking in game.

Hope that all makes sense.

… was the response in beta.

And a darn good response at that, nice post IMO.

Combos

My thief is powered by Combos to get invisible and my engineer builds up her might with combo fields. My ranger uses combo fields to heal better and my Mesmer boosts confusion with combo fields and … well heh… all my characters except my warrior uses combo field as something important to their build.

To the OP, I don’t think I can explain well how combo fields works but it is very good to be aware of them atleast in controlled fights and not stackbangboom scenarios or zerg events but in controlled fights combo fields and timing them with blasts and more can do alot of difference… atleast in PvP.

Why GW2 just isn't working

I enjoyed GW1, and my main character an Elementalist was the only character I realy got a connection too… All my other character was cool and I made a story for them sure… But it is no different there for me in GW2 as all my characters are decendants to my old characters and I have made stories for them too and actually thanks to the open world and more advanced mechanics I have a better connection to my GW2 characters. As I play the game and do the Living story I evolve my characters own stories and I base my answers to their personality, it does not always work but it is something atleast.

In GW1 I more or less used the same skills and setup through all my time while playing the game… Why I had to change was becouse of introduction of new skills or fixes to old skills. I see no difference in GW1 and GW2 build making in posabilities, it is all the same but the only difference is there are more skills in GW1 than in GW2 but there are still more or less the same ammount of viable builds.

I picked up GW1 a few months ago as I was going to show my girlfriend the game I played it for about 10min and just couldn’t continue… I just couldn’t find the feel for it anymore, everything fealt so stale and it was so slow and more… I just couldn’t continue. I wan’t to becouse I want more in my HoM but as I don’t have the feel for it, it will just feel like work.

i agree going back is hard, but i will tell you 100% not true that gw2 has more viable builds than gw1

Yea… I may have exagirated alittle :P But imo their aint that many viable builds just becouse there are millions of skills.

I have blink as I play PvE and exploring the world even… It is good stun break and you also get away from your enemy as I am fighting at range all the time.

I havent used Lightning flash that much but as you can use it while stunned it is a good way to get away. For a D/D ele I can imagine that it is a good skill to use to get away while in critical health or in a pich.

Shadow Step = Blink.

Necrotic Treversal is a good MM skill at first and it also breaks stun.

Who in their right mind would ever buy a character expansion slot now?

I did and I am enjoying it.

I don’t get what others find entertaining with rushing the game with a new char, enjoy what is given to you when you reach the level needed to gain it. The point for this is so you will have a slow and easy way of learning your character while getting to level 80 where the game starts.

I can read why so many complain but it puzzles me to why they even complain becouse it is not such a big deal. Before it was just a level and I said ‘yay level up… Soon I am level 80’ but now I have more or less something to look forward to for every level I gain.

The only complaint I have wich I havent tried myself but I trust the posters about it and that is how screwd up the downleveling system works with the new stats so that you get powerspike and suddenly you get worse each level and suddenly another powerspike and so on.

What is this obsession with “I must have each level up be important! Even if I have to eviscerate progression to do it!”? I just want to play my kitten characters and use their skills. Both of these feature packs have made me feel like an idiot for waiting to level my alts in what was supposed to be a “new and more interesting” system. Whelp, kitten that I guess. I don’t want to be forced to either use a shortcut or grind hearts to progress. I don’t want to be locked out of the QoL skills that make exploring easier (Air 4 on Staff for ele for example). I don’t want to play this forced tutorial that tries to teach via osmosis.

Well obviusly whe are two totally different persons then. I hope that the majority of GW2 players like these new changes and that these buuhhuu posts are made of the same 10 people over and over again so that they are a minorty since I hope these changes will stay.

I think it does change things. Potential new players come to forums of games to see what the community that actually cares enough about the game to post on forums is like. When they see all this, I believe someone who considered buying the game but wasn’t fully convinced, might not buy it after all. Many of the people in my gaming circle, including me, work KIND OF like this way. So I guess it might change things, but again, that’s just a guess based on own experiences, so it might be as well it changes nothing.

Wow… you and your friends do miss alot then Going after what other people thinks and not getting your own opinion is… So wrong.

If you are a poor student and don’t have that much money to spent on games, you will take into consideration what other people think. If I had the money to spare, sure, I wouldn’t work this way, because hey, if I don’t like this game I just buy the next one and see if I like that one. Unfortunately, this doesn’t go for every gamer. I know I miss alot, but I can only spent my money 1 time, so it better be well spent.

Maby you should start looking on Reviews (Youtube works since they usually shows video previews of the games) instead on reading what people says on forums, I am pretty sure that if you listened to what people say on forums you would never ever buy a game.

I just happen to do both, and form a general opinion for myself as far as I can do that.
I don’t base it entirely on the forums, but I take it with me like I take the opinions of, indeed, youtubers, review sites etc with me to form that general opinion of a game.

Well then that’s another thing then. I though you where reading *I leave posts’ and made your opinion of the game based on one or several disapointed costumer.
But as I said IMO, video reviews is the best to catch my interest Sometimes it’s even good to have the reviews on mute just to not be biased by the reviewers opinions :P

If I had the money to spare, sure, I wouldn’t work this way, because hey, if I don’t like this game I just buy the next one and see if I like that one. Unfortunately, this doesn’t go for every gamer. I know I miss alot, but I can only spent my money 1 time, so it better be well spent.

Maby you should start looking on Reviews (Youtube works since they usually shows video previews of the games) instead on reading what people says on forums, I am pretty sure that if you listened to what people say on forums you would never ever buy a game.

do you guyz post the food that you eat on facebook
or tell us in twiter that your trying out new shoes
or call your friends to tell them you just lost 1 kg
NO BODY CARES
i understand that there are post that are full of complains that Anet are getting some feedback out of them,
but what would any 1 expect to gain wen they say" well i played 2 years that game >>>>>>>> over there is better bye"
will our Good Byes or No Dont Leave will change anything?
P.S. i played for 2 years and still love this game like the 1st day of play

I am a musician and a songwriter and I rarely listen to my own music…

I am also making games with RPGmaker from time to time, and I more or less never play trough any of my finnished games, I let my friends do that and have them report to me what has to be fixed and improved. I don’t think my music or games would be better if I listened and played them more, I think I would get more bored of it and do something else.

I agree with you and I too has played since pre-launch and still like it alot But… Posts like this is more or less just as pointless as I am leaving threads :P

There will always be poeple who want to voice their opinion about the game and thinks that an ‘I am leaving’ makes Anet listen even more to them. Even though there is a rule saying ‘No I am leaving threads allowed’ … But offcourse they don’t just say I am leaving they are also saying what they are disapointed with and gives feedback XD Meh…

wow cant believe i write this kind of game suicide Letter

its been over 2 Years now I play GW2

The game was great the best MMo I played. I quit the game now is not bcs I hate it or so its just became extremly pointless for me.

The last Year of the Game I did nothing then just repeat what I did the first Year. sure I became better and Dunguons got more easy and thats maybe the Point why I quit.

In WOW i loved the Challange I liked playing good and proofing that to myself.
In GW it was in the start so Dunguons where hard! there was a lot to learn and to explore.

But It became harder and harder for me to log in the recent time. There is no Chalange in the Game at all, there is no reason to play good. It feels only like a who has more stuff Game now.

The LS is Nice but not nice enough to keep me since its done in a few hours and the archivments… the hardest part is understand what anet want me to do the rest is naja…

So I found myself cutting Wood with all the other dudes and I said to myself what the kitten im doin here?

when the most Challangeing game mode became cutting Wood with my 8 Chars.

So anyway

I want say Thank u anet for making this great Game it was a Blast, I love ur Concept and the Visuals.

I will take a look in the Forum from time to time but so long Game Content not get at least one new Continent and 5 New Dunguons I not seeing me comming Back.

Best

Balsa

First I want to say… Heh… In WoW you don’t get better, your gear gets better and you are just fooled thinking that is progress while it just gives you a reason to stay and farm/grind. :P

Second… Don’t come back reading the forums, atleast not what we players say about the game. We cannot decide what is fun for you and so on. Keep an eye on the patch notes and try the game when you see something like Season 3 ending is coming tomorrow, then I am pretty sure you will havew enough content to enjoy for a while atleast. Me on the other hand can’t take a break from this game, I am just too hooked ^^
