The new PoI’s are from after Scarlets attack.
If there is to be any changes to the LA compleation it may be new stuff to find and maby old stuff that you have found will be gone, but they will not reset what you have allready found.

The best way to use signet is to know when to use their active ability and when to save them for the passive ability.
But…
In my opinion:
- Healing signet: is bad as the Passive healing is to good and the Active healing is to bad.
- Signet of Judgement: passive gives you -10% incoming Damage but the Active is weak, the only good thing with it is the stun break … But I could argue if using it as a stunbreaker is a good decision. If so, only in realy bad situations.
- Signet of the Hunt: has in my opinion to long CD for 50% more damage on one attack even if the attack is an AoE the extra damage is still on one target. I use this signet but I never use it’s active ability.

Welp, I’m in. The mobs are a ton easier and really… after all this time, not a single new pet.
Some say it is too hard and some say it is too easy. As Vayne said, go to silverwastes for harder content. Do Aetherpath in Twillight Arbor, do Tequatil and/or Evolved Jungleworm (Tripple Trouble) or do Fractals up to level 49 (Rumor goes that 50 is easier).
About the pets… Eh isn’t 46 pets enough? That’s more pets than any other MMO’s I know of, just from the start.

I played Guild Wars for 6-7 years. We got expansions every year….for the first three years (sometimes more than that) …. and these expansions were so massive they were sold as standalone games. (there was so much content that you actually wanted to keep playing)
Even trying to compare the living world releases of Guild Wars 2 to the amount of Content Anet gave us in Gw1 is insulting. Also about this… My memory isn’t realy perfect so I may be wrong but… Except from a new dungeon in profecies, some fixes to the games like Hardmode and alot of skill balances. What did Guild Wars 1 give us between the expansons? It can’t have been much compaired to how much free content we got in Guild Wars 2?
nothing.
They didn’t need to.
They properly spaced out and gauged the amount of time it took for players to completely exhaust content, and delivered more content before the game became dull.
Also, the addition of hard mode is nothing to gloss over.
That in itself more than doubled the total amount of content to do in the game.
(Before HM there was no vanquishing)
Well let me ask you this then… How come that most my friends left GW1 two or three weeks after each Expac but they have played GW2 for around a week after every bi-weekly update GW2 have had?
This is just my friends okay, I have no numbers of ammount of players in GW1 compared too GW2. But my guess is that the Bi-weekly updates works better for Anet as they earn most their money from people playing and buying stuff from gem-store. So if players don’t play they don’t buy, but if players play they buy. At the moment my friends havent played for over a month. But when they play they throws alot of cash for gems.
Edit:
Minor nitpick: if you have to buy x in order to get y, then y was not free.
Wow, that is realy a Minor nitpick… But what you paid for was GW2 and you got it, you could play it without a single update and it was well worth your money with the content you got from that money. All the updates was for free, it was a thank you too everyone for that there are people spending money on the gems-store.

If they keep us entertained throughout, I see no problem with it taking 12 years to defeat all the dragons.
The problem is that they are definitely not keeping me entertained… at all.
12 years of starving for content?
No thanks.
You can’t please everyone.
LOL
Let me ask you a few questions.
Did you play the original Guild Wars?
Do you think the amount of content delivered through Living world is enough to keep players busy? Are you pleased with the amount of content available right now?
Have you been playing since launch?
What do you actually do when you play the game?
How many times have you repeated content?
How many times can you repeat content before it becomes dull to you?
Are you truly happy?
You can’t please everyone… It is true and it realy is totally perfect to say! What you said was your opinion and this is my opinion.
Did you play the original Guild Wars? – Yes I did!
Do you think the amount of content delivered through Living world is enough to keep players busy? – I am pretty sure it is not enough to keep every player busy but as previous poster said “you can’t please everyone”. Me on the other hand love the Living World updates, though during the LS2 there where two breaks but they where too long.
Are you pleased with the amount of content available right now? – Yes and no, I am pleased with the content released from start until right before Expac announcement. As I said above though, the breaks where a tad too long and the content after that where actually alittle too small.
Have you been playing since launch? – Yes I have, since 3-days head start.
What do you actually do when you play the game? – I level new characters as I play with new friends and guildmates that has recently started the game, I do sPvP, I do WvW, I do dungeons with my guild, I do Guild Missions, I do self-made events with my Guild, I do Fractals with my guild, I do Silverwastes with my guild, I still havent got all crests I need in dry top, I explore the maps with my characters that hasnt got 100% yet and I also do LS2 with characters that havent done them yet.
How many times have you repeated content? – Depends how you look at it, when the bi-weekly updates where happening I didn’t repeat that much content but during these long breaks I did start to do LS with my alts and started doing dungeons wich I havent played that much before and now while waiting for expac I have done those things more often, like I am doing fractals quite alot now wich I have avoided during most of my game time.
How many times can you repeat content before it becomes dull to you? – Not much has been realy dull yet becouse I do not repeat it over and over as I do varied stuff to not get bored of things as I real loath grinding and farming. But AC has been alittle too many times now as I have been helping new players in my guild with it too many times so I realy cant count it but over a hundred times atleast.
Are you truly happy? – Yes I actualy am, I can understand that other players feel that GW2 is alittle booring at the moment with no “real” Update for so long and I understand that alot of players do not play at the moment. But I am truly truly happy with the game and still enjoy it alot. I expect alot of returning players with the expac but I hope they won’t continue with the expac thing becouse I realy like the Bi-weekly updates, it kept people logged in atleast for a day or two every two weeks… HoT will keep players playeing for a week or two and then… gone.

It’s “viable” now. If you’re asking if it’s ever going to compete with direct damage builds, the answer is: maybe. It looks like they will be changing the condi stack mechanics, changing some condi related traits and mechanics, and introducing new foe types. Whether that ultimately changes the math enough to put condi ahead of direct damage will depend on the specifics and how the community absorbs those changes.
I think it,s only viable for solo play , and very situational in group play . Do you have a link i can see where they said theyre chnging the stacks etc ?
Well I don’t think there is anywhere where they have said that… But there is a thread about the first Beta test where Anet said that they where testing their new “no cap to bleeding” and there are screenshot and videos out there from this beta where it is evidence to bleeding scaling higher than 25. Also during the Dragon Hunter twitch they announced a change to fire damage and you could notice a stack of 2 fire damage on an enemy. They have also said that they are dong changes to conditions in the latest twitch of The Reaper if I remember correctly.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
Almost every thread that has something like “any new content coming before hot?” or “this is broken pls fix” you just go and blindly defend every anet’s move and tell people to do some stupid things like “Filled up the wardrobe with all currently obtainable skins?
Gotten the Fractal Tonic? Gotten all legendaries?” . May i ask why?I am not blindly defending. I am pointing out facts.
As for the suggestions of things to do: People keep claiming that there is nothing to do in the game. And yet the vast majority of them still have a large amount of stuff that they can do. They just CHOOSE to not do it, and if they choose to not do it, they shouldn’t really come here and complain about there being nothing to do.
Well I usually agree with you and you often say clever stuff but now I have to disagree a little bit.
There is actually a difference of having things to do and having fun things to do. If it now where so fun in searching collections, doing Legendaries ranking to 80 and more why would Anet even bother in doing Living Story, Crown Pavalion, SAB, and other fun festivals and stuff?
I never care for collections, achievements or Legendary. I go with a mindset that I get it when I get it from playing the content of the game, but when I am done with this content there isn’t anything more fun for me to do so I end up farming the last content and finally I get bored.
What many of us are asking for is not New content it is something to do while waiting for the expac, like SAB or other festivals. I mean, they have had time to do the airplane theme for Aprilsfools… Throw in another simple event to entertain players who wants that. And as I said before, I do not know anything how stuff works at Anet but c’mon a regular Patch day and there is no patch and not even a word to why. Even if it is 100% certain that they are totaly busy with the Expac a word like ‘No patch becouse we are busy with Expac’ would actually have been nice.
I love this game and I will not stop playing becouse I have alot to do in the game but I have alot of guildmembers and friends who I havent seen in a while now since the lack of fun content.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
I am usually not the one to complain but… More and more people in my guild isn’t playing anymore becouse there is nothing to do between now and expac.Newest content is realy old and is being farmed to boredom by alot of players (I am not one of them as I still enjoy GW2). I do not blame people for leaving the game atm and waiting for Expac… Something interesting to do while waiting for expac couldnt be bad for bussiness could it? Well I dunno I am not a Dev.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
I do think they should move to monthly content updates when they start the updates again, and not bi weekly. More time to play, and more time for them to develop.
The problem with biweekly wasn’t that it was a bad model, it was that if you couldn’t get on in those two weeks it disappeared forever. That’s a horrible design for anything that can come into conflict with real world commitments. You alienate people who travel for business, people who work seasonal jobs that take them away for weeks at a time then have weeks off, military and aid workers who aren’t on a fixed home schedule, and on and on. It was a very poorly thought out experiment that ruined what was an excellent idea on paper for keeping the game fresh.
You have recently come back right? Or did you miss that the whole season 2 is replayable? Season 2 was every two weeks… Though in my opinion they had a few too long breaks.

Here’s an insight into a specific case. I have a friend who likes archers. His first online game was GW, and he played a ranger. Many of his builds did not include a pet. In GW2, he currently does not have that option. He really dislikes the pet mechanic, but he still seems to prefer ranger over thief or warrior. If he could play with ranger bow, but have burst skills like a warrior, or virtues like guards, or something akin to a tool-belt, he’d be all over it.
So, with some, it’s going to be a specific thing about a desired profession mechanic that irks. With others, it’s going to be a theory crafting thing, where they are considering how they could be OP by combining one profession’s mechanic with another profession’s skills. With still others it will be a liking for a mechanic, but preferring some other aspect of a different profession (which may or may not be build related).
What luck your friend is in then as Guardians will be Dragonhunters!
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
Doing different parts of the game rewards you with lot of transmutation charges. I have now 10 Characters and 9 of them looks just the way I want them too. My low level characters is using an Outfit so he will not cost me any trans-charges.
I have been playing since release and have been using Trasmutation stones, crystals and now charges every now and then. But playing PvE doing world compleation with my characters, having luck when opening chests and doing PvP rewards me with more charges than i use. I think I have bought 5 transmutation crystals in my life… thats all and not I have over 75 charges and I still use them now and then and I never go below 60 charges.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
Signet of vampire is the best skill for my Power Minion Master build. I wouldn’t mind it to be better but then it would be really OP.
Why would you think that? I am pretty sure that minions cannot trigger the stacks. And unless you have some allies to trigger the stacks, even blood fiend gives more damage and healing (not that bloodfiend is a good healing skill…).
1. Trigger the stacks? Well, axe does the job good enough for that.
2. I do rarely activate the signet, as my build outheal most damage thanks to all siphons.
3. When I activate signet I do it when I know I can hit the target and when I do I always gets full HP.
4. Bloodfiend is a really unreliable healing and can die.I am on my phone and can’t post my build for now but I will try too remember too put it in here and you can try it for yourself and try other healing skills with it then. So in my opinion signet of vampire is the best healing skill for MY build that I have made myself and I like to go against metas and yet find good builds.
1) You do know it has an internal cooldown per person, right? A single person, no matter how fast they hit, can only proc the mark 5 times. 4, realistically, since it lasts 5 seconds and you’d need to hit literally the instant it gets applied.
2) Minion siphons are neat. The signet siphon heals you slightly when you get hit. It’s just a very bad damage reduction. And if you’re surviving off siphons, that means you’re just not getting hit. Take Blood Fiend for a bit more damage.
3)I’m not quite sure what you’re trying to say here.
4) It is unreliable, but when it does work, it’s far more effective than the signet. And if you’re worried about reliability, take Consume Conditions.
1. No it does not but it lasts for 6s so it gives a healing of max six times and each time is Higher than the healing from Well of blood wich only lasts for five seconds and require you to be inside that well. Well of Blood gives a greater Initial Heal but has no healing at all while not activated.
2. Signet of Vampirism gives each hit healing with 1sec cooldown, you rarely take more hits than one in one second if you are not trapped in a warriors 100b, a rangers Rapid Fire or similar attacks wich if you go with other healings and get trapped in an action like that you still have to use your healing skill. Most attacks that isn’t hard to tell does not do enough damage to be outhealed by Signet of Vampirism and damage made between is also healed by other siphoning skills and attacks.
3. As I play with a Cleric Build and traited with Bloodthirst I heal more than enough to gett fully healed with Signet of Vampirism (If I successfully get a 4-kittens on an enemy). With this I say, having extra damage reduction per hit (Each second) and a healing that most of the times restores my own health pool to full and as a bonus can heal others very well too without them having to stack around you as this build is a mobile build.
4. I used Blood fiend before Signet of Vampirism was introduced and it worked ok, but as soon as someone killed my BloodFiend my build was as a dead tuna. Also, when seing other MM Builds I always go for their Easy to kill blood fiend first and then the MM and they always die so easy. Also it is supposed to be a healing skill not a damage dealer so who in the ! uses the Healing skill for damage? It is just a simple bonus.
Now though, I am going to try ‘Consume conditions’ a little more since I have forgotten about that skill and Conditions is actually my builds Nemesis and now when Conditions will be better soon I might need to concider that.
And here is my build:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fRAQNAnYWn0ISTN2VDu1A7NmoXQkN1rZ/dEyArA-TVCGABD8AA2TJoTK/29QA8m+AePCAws/Ajq/AwJAAA-w
(I don’t mind if you hate it and don’t even wanna try it and I don’t mind if you guys still says Signet of Vampirism is still bad becouse that means that this build that works wonders in most parts of the game and if Signet of Vampirism gets better my build will be better).

And traps.
Traps.
Nothing screams “knock me back, fear me out of, of evade through this space and render this skill more useless” than the word “trap”. Tying that to the HEALING skill? Now you’re just trolling us. At least that’s how i feel so far.
Maybe that will change once we see more, but for now, this new spec isn’t seeming like one that will get lots of play.
Yeah the more I think about this the more I’m starting to hate it. At first I was pretty excited about the dragonhunter because I always wanted a good two-handed ranged weapon for my guardian. But that’s honestly the only good thing we’ll get with the dragonhunter. The new virtues sound bad. Traps sound horrible and the #6 healing skill being a trap sounds particularly terrible.
If I could play a dragonhunter minus the new virtues and minus the traps I’d probably consider it. I want that longbow, but I want to keep my old virtues and my old utility skills.
I am pretty sure you can go Dragon Hunter without the trap skills. I Though assume that most traits in the Elite specialization is tied to traps.
Hopefully they’ll also give us trait options that aren’t related to traps at all.
I can see potential for the dragonhunter in PvP, but only if we can ditch the traps and pick some other good traits that will buff up our longbow and virtues.
I’m really sad that Anet chose traps as the dragonhunter’s weapon type. Like, really sad. I’ll probably never play dragonhunter in PvE and WvW. Only in PvP might I give it a shot but probably without using any traps…
Ye… But it is hard to say atm. I might not change my Guard (Becouse I like my build and it seems to be untouched) but I dunno what will happen when the Expac arrives.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
I play a own modefied Medi-guard… It is very good and kinda feels OP from time to time, but once I meet a condition build I go down pretty easy, I can’t block conditions and I can’t take them away forever. Though most power builds is very easy for a Medi-guardian to beat as we have so many blocks and heals.
I dunno what they are named but these Lich Form Necromancers kills me in one or two hits if I am unprepared.
Turret engineers are easy to handle with my build, but grenade or bomb engi’s is more of a problem to me.
Condition Mesmers is a pain in the behind.
Thiefs, Warriors and Guardians rarely kills me 1Vs1 though in bigger fights a thiefs timed backstab is redicelous.
Rangers… Well I have yet to see a ranger who isn’t just standing ~1800 away and pewpew … They are annoying but rarely any problem to outheal/block.

Figured I throw this out there in case it hasn’t…
Why not name them Seraphim instead of Dragon Hunter?
And may I ask why does a class specialization that has nothing with Angels and religion to do fits well with the name Seraphim?
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
Dragonhunter makes no sense as a specialization name and Chronomancer does. The Mesmer elite specialization name does make sense. Why? Because you specialize as a Chronomancer to manipulate time. Do you specialize as a Dragonhunter to hunt dragons? No. You will hunt and fight all types foes, not just “big game.”
Also, there is nothing innately Guardian about being a Dragonhunter. Why couldn’t a Warrior or Ranger hunt dragons? There’s not really any reason Dragonhunter fits the Guardian anymore than it could fit those professions. Why wouldn’t an armored master of combat or master of the nature want to hunt big game? They are arguably even more suited to the name than Guardians.
Personally I would prefer Sentinel as it fits the theme of defending from a range with longbow and setting traps.
Edit: Also, lol at the OPs argument. “These names are used elsewhere at some place and some time: therefore they are bad.” What?
Agreed. My Necro hunts dragons. Isn’t she a Dragonhunter already?
The two words mashed into one name doesn’t work – at all.
As I said in a nother post… My Engineer is a Warrior for my borderland in WvW but I don’t go complain that there is a Warrior class in this game.
Edit:
I am happy with the current name.
New Weapon: The bow – one of the greatest, most iconic hunting tools in the history of the human race
New Skill category: Traps – one of the most essential hunting tools in the history of the human race.
The Enemy: Elder Dragons – the ultimate peril of the world of Tyria. If we do not strive against them with our every breath, all will die.
New Profession: The Dragon Hunter – “I take the tools of the hunter and turn them against the foes that must be fought. For the good of all.”
The name wasn’t picked out of a hat… Its a graceful bit of shorthand both summing up and evoking many elements the profession encompasses.
+1
So well written and true.
Second Edit:
The problem is that the name Dragonhunter can be given to any of the profession and make skills around it.
Whereas Chronomancer… It can only be given to Mesmer, and Mesmer only, no other profession fits with the Chronomancer description at all, and it makes it unique to that profession.
But everyone can call themselves a Dragonhunter.
Again… My Engineer is a Warrior for my borderland in WvW but I don’t go complain that there is a Warrior class in this game. We are all fighting a War so we are all Warriors.
I Disagree-
We are all fighters: Fighters fight because they fight
Fighters Do Not Sacrifice Their Lives For Others
Warriors Sacrifice Their Lives For Others
Fighters Run From Death
Warriors Run Toward Death
That Is What Make A Warrior
That Is Why The Role Only Fit For The Warrior
That Is Why Not Everyone Can Be A Warrior
Eh fighter? Do you even know what a fighter is?
A few examples.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fighter
Do you know what a warrior is?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warrior
I really, REALLY hope they change the name. Imagine if the announcment had gone more along the lines of…
“Meet the Arbiter!
We’re proud to reveal the Arbiter, the elite specialization for the Guardian. Staying true to the base class, these wielders of light have mobilized in the war against the dragons, ready to bring justice to their foes and solace to their allies! This new specialization has an emphasis on range and mobility, both features that were previously lacking in the Guardian’s lineup.
In addition to reworked virtues and access to longbow, Arbiters have gained the access to traps. By carefully setting the stage with a variety of new traps, the Arbiter can direct the flow of battle from a distance. Judgment is passed when foes or allies pass over the traps, bringing devastating conditions to the unworthy. One skill, Prison of Light, will keep your enemy locked in place, allowing the Arbiter to swoop in for the coup-de-grace.
The new elite, Glint’s Revelation, does something really cool and guardian themed too."
OK so I ran out of steam there at the end but you get the idea.
Maby you should check up the word Arbiter and ask yourself what it has to do with Longbow and traps to do?
I am realy against the wierd class names that most players propose as they are iether missplaced or/and religous.
As I said before, Dragon Hunter seems like a pretty legit name in my opinion.

Alot of you people behave like spoiled children.
We are all Warriors in WvW but no one complain about the name Warriors. Just becouse the class specialization is named Dragon Hunter doesn’t mean he/she can only hunt dragons or any other class can call themselfes Dragon Hunter for that matter.
I wanna wait for the clearification to the class specialization before I complain about the traps or how it is meant to work. At the moment we have only seen a small preview viedo and read alot of text. We havent seen the Dragon Hunter in real action.
As the class specialization seems to be centered around traps and survival I think the name Dragon Hunter is quite ok. Better than Paragon as it would be a Warrior class (As the warrior allready has Paragon skills).
What does it matter if the Specialization makes Guardian more like Ranger? It still won’t be a ranger and this is something guardians needed and atm I aprove this concept.
BTW, ranger will be more guardian-like in their specialization as they will have staff and centered around Healing.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
In my opinion it is not better. Skills are just overflowing and are just to many and copies of eachother. The balance of the game was bad (Saying was as I played it 6 years ago) and well there was only a few viable builds even though you have millions of skills to choose between and be duo-class.
I logged in to GW1 a few days ago to get my birthday presents and well I can’t say that it is a large player base in the game as I saw one active player in LA and a few others in HoM.
GW1 is not a bad game, it is really fun and if you are burnt out playing GW2 I believe GW1 is a good game to play for awhile. Remember it is alot older that GW2 so do not expect GW2 graphics and movements, it is though a beutifull game for it’s age.

To answer the Topic. Yes I am very happy with this game and this game is in my opinion the best MMO ever made. I have been playing it almost everyday since the 3-days headstart and I always find stuff to do. Some complain about being forced to grind while I have rarely done any grind in this game. Some complain about hard content while I think that alot of content is too easy. Some complain about stacking and Zerker while I rarely do that becouse I don’t need to. Some complain about empty maps while I have enough friends to play with. Some complains about full maps and Lag while I rarely lag or have problems with DC’s or have a difficult time doing events.
Many complains about stuff that they are not happy about but they like other parts of the game. 10 out of 50 might not like Part A of the game, another 10 of 50 do not like Part B and so on… They voice their complaints here on the forums becouse they want a good game to become even better. So in the end forums are filled with complaints but also feedback but less filled with possitive threads.

In my Guild of 73 members (at the moment) has minimum age 20 and max age is ~55, most players are around 20-25 though and I myself will be 34 this year.
Edit:
Im 66 and been playing MMOs since Anarchy Online, if anyone can remember that.
Heres an interesting question though.
Trying to get one of my friends whose the same age as me into this game , and she hasnt got a lot of dexterity in her hands, so which class needs the least button mashing to play?
In my opinion, a long bow Ranger has the least button mashing…

OP, Anet can decide whenever they want to stope the drops of portals as soon as they feel that enough players who have unlocked it.
I myself are super hyped for this idéa and in my Opinion this is the best Closed-beta-key-give-away I have ever taken part in. I hate the mailinglist Giveaway, it feels so bad… I have had a few friends getting beta keys from other MMO’s I have played but they have been inactive and never played the beta. This way we can be sure that most of the players who gets beta access will be active players.
And also and important message to everyone who seem not to understand that; Beta is something you play to find Bugs and glitches to report them to the creators of a game, it is NOT a preview of the game so DO NOT expect that what you will see in the beta is a finnished product!
And over to the RNG beta keys. Well I have done one Silverwaste run a day now for 3-4 weeks and my guild happens to find it fun to protect the keeps and fighting, we do not like when a commander starts a chest-farming train. So by doing SW once a day becouse it is fun and you get loot while having fun, I don’t see that as farming. Also I do farm Dry Top becouse I want to craft me two Ambrite weapons so I need Tokens to buy the recepies. I do not expect to find a portal becoue I am pretty unlucky but I feel that my chances are higher this way than it was before when I was compeeting with everyone with a mailing address. And as I said before I am happy to know that it will be active players who will get beta Access.
I think that many inactive players who comes back to the game only to play the Beta mostly do it becouse they want to have a preview of the expac. And when they have played it they will complain about it becouse thave allready decided that GW2 isn’t fun, they have got tired of it before and an Expac is not a new game so they will most likely not like whats new.

Condi builds are as spammable as power builds. If more restrictions were put when fighting mobs you would have to think before spamming skills on cd. This is stupid. However looking at how anet “fixed” turret build on engi I have no doubt we will see nothing good from them in terms of combat and balance.
Do as I did, stop paying for gems. Only with lower income they can start to care about quality of the game. Right now GW2 feels like a fast food with too many fries, so you feel full but it wasnt very delicious.
Let me ask you how tactical it is to play an Engineer placing Turrets that kills for you. Turrets that Condition builds cannot kill, even if they plan their attacks becouse their attacks do not damage the turrets. So please explain to me how my Condition build could beat a Earth golem boss Solo in a story instance when it cant be hurt by my conditions? Please tell me how my ranger who is focused on Shortbow can’t kill a Earth golem becouse he is immune to arrow and Bleeding. Please explain to me how anyone could kill the blobs without an elementalist or some other elemental damage.
And PLEASE understand that this is GW2 and not GW1.
I am main Engineer and I realy love the new fix so that conditions can hurt turrets. It is a game, a fantasy game. Logic isn’t realy 100% in any fantasy game.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
- illogical conditions system (poisoned turrets and blind sand?!)
Would you rather condition-based weapons be rendered completely useless against a considerable number of enemies, because that’s by far the worse option.
Much better solution would be making some enemies invulnerable to some effects (you know, I don’t believe that STONE elemental can bleed) while being more vulnerable to others (e.g. plants and structures should take double dps from burning). This is logical and it was already implemented in GW1. This is why there are people feeling that anet lacks the effort and looks for the fastest and cheapest way to achieve revenue.
Yea people use condition build too much in PvE allready! Let’s make it even more useless! Really good idéa mate.
I rather have illogical stuff than broken mechanics. And … talking about illogical stuff in a fantasy game…? O_o
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
To OP.
This is an MMO. MMO’s have a history of changing, look at Ultima online, WoW, Rune Scape (or whats it’s name) and more. They change and it is not just small changes and they go agains their original design to try something new and hopefully get more players from it.
So what you say is in your opinion but I am different and have another opinion.
NPE is a neat idea but some restrictions is just too much, but I like the leveling system in the NPE and I like how you don’t get everything from the beginning and you level in GW2 so quick that it realy doesn’t matter. I have helped alot of new players and they totaly love the game and do not know what NPE is. Those who do not like the NPE are old players used to the old stuff and those bothered that their new friends are locked out at the moment for stuff they want to rush them to do.
Do not understand what you mean by Duty finder? PvP Match finder is a good idea but it needs some more work. It is alot better now than before atleast. Underwater battle is the thing I hate the most in this game and I would wish for it to be gone in PvE too. I am so happy that it is gone from PvP since it was so unbalanced and bad.
Stories unlocking every ten levels? What about it? It’s not like you could play a level 20 story with your level 10 character anyway, if you didn’t happen to get carried through it with a friend. I have always done some Exploring and when I was finnished with a map and had level enough for the story I did the story until I got to a new map and then I explored that map and again when I had finnished the map and had level for the story I did the story. For me this havent changed a bit. But I can understand that this is a frustration for people who just want to rush through the game. And then you complain that you can’t play the way you want and that it was promised!
The original design? … I do not have the design papers of the game and well we could and sit and look on the manefesto or whatever stuff anet released about the game before it went live. But for me as a player who never hyped over the game before it’s release the Orginal GW2 design is still here.
I level the same way as before, the battle mechanic is the same way as before, the story plot is the same as before, The PvP mechanic works the same way as before, WvW mechanic is the same way as before, there is still no Trinity in the game, there is no vertical progression after level 80 and more…
The only thing that they have changed from their Original design I might say is the Living Story.
(This is all Opinions I have and I do not say that OP isn’t entiteled to share his/her displeasures)

After changes:
gear – pow 120 prec 100 Fer 100
Or (This is important) you switch out one or two accesories and get
Gear – Pow 110 Prec 80 Fer 80 Heal pow 20 Vita 30Which means, you will have to adjust your accessories if you want to go back to the build you have right now. And that’s assuming you are lucky enough to have a build that can actually be built with accessories, considering how limited stat distribution on items is, especially on ascended gear (which is even more limited than common gear).
What if, though, you feel like changing your build a bit? With traits, you could easily change some stat points from here to there, and change how you play. With stats coming exclusively from gear, in order to experiment you would need to change your accessories again, which isn’t so easy due to a multitude of issues (not only the limited stats on gear, but also the fact that getting so many ascended acessories isn’t easy, plus the lack of space where to keep everything, and etc).
In the end, the change punishes players who like to experiment and change their builds. I remember, in the original Guild Wars, when ArenaNet removed refund points and allowed players to change their attributes freely; it rejuvenated the game, and allowed for a lot more build diversity, build creativity and variety in play. Now… Now ArenaNet is going to kill all those things. And why? To make the game simpler for players to whom stat allocation would be “too confusing”. It’s the NPE all over again.
First of all, I don’t think many have even thought about the TraitLineStats as a major importance for a specific build. The traits, weapons sets, sigils, runes and stats on gear has been more focus to create a build.
I beleave that you have more freedom to Create a build now when you don’t have to sacrifice a specific Traitline just becouse it doesn’t give you the right stats. Now it is easier to just replace an Accessory.
I do experiment and change my Builds everyday(Okay not everyday but alot), I also play alot of different content that grants me alot of Ascended accesories and even gear sometimes and (You know what!?) they are account bound so I have saved them all. So when I come up with a new build I try different stat sets for them too! Hah, and that I do now, before the update.
The only thing that it may have a small impact on is PvP, but hopefully this is something anet have thought of.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
Full set of exotic armor and first weapon set comes to about 70-80g without runes (and you can got with cheap runes first). At about 10-15g per hour farming Silverwastes or even doing other things you’ll have the gold in about 4-5 hours tops. Maybe 10 hours if you do other stuff like dungeons etc.
How is this not considered “easy to get”?
Because you need good gear and great game knowledge to farm remotely near that efficiently?
You can’t even reliably get into dungeons with exotic gear so…
HOLD IT!!!
I stoped reading here and I bet alot of others have said that you are wrong by now but I wan’t to say my part too as it is posts like this post I quoted that ruins gameplay for many players.
You don’t have to be friggin good to follow a raid around and farm your behind of in Silverwastes or anywhere for that matter, as long as you are level 80 with 80 gear (No Exotic required) you are good to go.
Dungeons!!! Level 80 and even Exotic is to low to run a dungeon with!? What friggin BS is this? I run dungeons daily, but okay I do rarely PUG but I have been doing my own PUG’s lately and I have had people with lower level than required to do the dungeon and we have done them easy. I have done alot of dungeons with people that is realy newbs and we have done them all.
Now are you mixing dungeons with fractals!? For fractals 1-9 is possilble just with level 80 and 80 gear (No exotic required), but as you get above fractals level 10 you will need Ascended Accesories and that you can get by just playing fractals and trade your tokens.
Required or not required to farm or Grind in this game… I have rarely grinded or farmed any part of this game and I have all classes at level 80, a few of them has Ascended and the rest of them has Exotic. I play every part of this game, PvE, PvP and WvW… I don’t realy care for ascended gear, when I get it I get it and when I have enough crafting mats I craft it. I do not buy Crafting mats to craft a full Ascended armor (Though I have bought some pieces when I was “this close” to be able to craft a piece). I have never owned a Precursor, I have never owned a Legendary becouse I havent had a Precursor drop ever but I do not care becouse when I get one I will smile and be happy but until then I will enjoy the content I like in this game.
I have never fealt required to grind anything in this game.
Before this game I played an MMO based on a book by Tolkien (Not saying the name :P) And this game required me to grind Raid Content over and over and even for me to play PvP I had to grind Quests and kills to get a better armor to be able to finally compeate in the PvP. More or less everything I did in the game I was required to Grind something over and over again to fully enjoy the newest content of the game.

My return here recently, the suggestion to start a new character was a good one. Though I have a level 80 necro, relearning all the skills, traits, map, crafting, locations … etc. It is just easier to start a new character and experience it all from the beginning again.
For me, I just bought another character slot and started a Ranger, as I hadn’t ever made or played a Ranger. They are not so complicated and move quickly through the content. My Ranger now has made it to 70, just after playing 2 weeks. This week I am fairly sure I will hit 80. Zero dungeons have I run and haven’t joined any guild yet either. All solo play so far and that has gone just fine.
My return was the same though, didn’t know my way around. It surprises me though the replies you are getting are jumping to conclusions about “your afk spot”. I didn’t read where you said anything other that where you logged off last is confusing now because it has all changed. When I logged out last time it was in Lions Arch as well. That is where i liked to craft and hit the auction and it was central to the map. Returning I couldn’t find anything either.
Just start a new character and look for the spyglass icon and heart icons on the map, press “M” for map. Those will tell you where you have and have not been, what level the area is and where to pick up quest not yet done. It has been rather enjoyable returning and folks have treated me well.
Umm… I can only see one saying ’ “your afk spot” ’ and I only wondered how the destruction of one single place could confuse a player (whom have played the game enough to not find anything more to do in it) so much that he/she can’t manage to keep on playing. I can understand if there so much changes in the game that starting a new character is necessary but how one place (as OP calls the Main Hub) is destroyed makes you confused and you can’t find your way to continue… My advice is then, go north then you end up in a land that is unchanged and from there I guess you can find your way.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
In the end, no change… Well exept that base stats gets a boost too.
You missed the part where they said, that increase to base stats, and to stat on gear, should cover most of the loss from traitlines.
It’s another hidden stat nerf.
Hmm… I don’t read in to what they say so I missed that. That pretty much confirms that Boon+ and some extra stuff will be removed then. Still can be wrong.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
I dunno what some people complains about… I dunno, I am not good with numbers but this is how I see it.
For example (Not the real numbers)
Before Trait fix stats are for zerker:
Gear – Pow 100 Prec 80 Fer 80
Traits – Pow +10 Heal Pow +20 Vita +30
After changes:
gear – pow 120 prec 100 Fer 100
Or (This is important) you switch out one or two accesories and get
Gear – Pow 110 Prec 80 Fer 80 Heal pow 20 Vita 30
In the end, no change… Well exept that base stats gets a boost too.
So in my mind it does not seems to change a thing if you don’t want but it gives us more custumization as stats are not forced on us by wanting to invest in a specific traitline. Well and for those who want some xtra boon duration and stuff that may go away… Maby they will also go in gear now? We don’t know. So at the moment I look forward to this change but I do not dare to say that I know it’s gonna be good or bad. Let’s see what the future holds.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
Wow, my guardian build will be Awesome!
Why becouse most traits that I use has been combined in to two GM traits! So now I have even more “points” to put on other traits! This is gonna be fantastic!
I can’t wait to see how my main Engineer will be.
BTW, I am not looking at how my class build will be butchered, I rather look how I can improve my class with a new build from this new trait system. I see alot of improvement for my classes here.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
Well yes, LA is more like the central hub now again but I myself are rarely in LA I rather be in DR or Rata Sum than LA :P I can’t understand how LA can be so important for your gaming experience… It’s just a place like everything else, just don’t see it as a main hub and do not try to find any.
And I am sorry if I am rude but I can’t iether understand how you can say that GW2 didn’t have enough content when you get lost without a main hub.
Stuff I do atm (And I have been playing since head start):
- Silverwastes.
- Some World Bosses with my guild.
- Guild Missions with my guild (Ofc).
- Dungeons.
- Fractals.
- Unranked PvP.
- WvW with my guild.
- Leveling new Characters together with my newly introduced to GW2 friends.
There isn’t mutch new things since you left to do so if Silverwastes is the only “new” thing in my list …. Well too bad.
But there are more stuff to do as a player who havent played for a while. There is the whole Season 2 of Living Story of 8 Episodes, it will cost you 200 Gems for each episode if you didnt log in during the updates of each episode but 200Gems is a small price and a nice goal to aim for to unlock with ingame gold. The living story is nice and gives you okay rewards and some Achievement points if you like that. And there is 2 new maps, Dry top and Silverwastes that is nice maps to farm loot and stuff if you are in to that and a good amount of achievment there too.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
So far all pugs stacking have end up me soloing the champion with 50-75% health left.
Hehe how sad
Well in my case we did fail first try as I let my partmembers decide what to do, second time I told them that this is how I did one year ago and we tried my old tactic from long ago and failed becouse Champion is immune to traps Third time we did the stacking again and me sulking over bad decision from Anet and we made it nice and easy wich made me even more annoyed with Anets decision :P
You leave traps and hide to a dark spot right from graveling spawn point and Detha will kill them herself if you keep out of aggro. The champion must be pulled and killed by yourselves.
oh my… Thats even worse than stacking… XD
Thank you all for the answeres!

Before, you could see every skill point on the world map, even if you haven’t been to a zone yet. Now, they only appear when you’ve discovered the little section they reside in. Was there a reason for this change?
And does anyone know how long ago they made this change.
As a reminder, I’m not talking about discovered skill points that get “unlocked” at level 13.
Sorry I didn’t even know that they have changed this. But I want to speculate on why they did this. As I like to explore games to the fullest I can see that they made this change to stop people from going from skillpoint to skillpoint, instead you have to explore the world to find them. As I said I havent noticed the change but in theory for me this change is good. Though it is a little slap in the face to those who actually do not enjoy exploring but want’s to get the skillpoints as this game is a play how you want game. I didn’t mind how it was before iether so for me Anet could change it back but I do like the change in theory as I said.
Lol, yeah. It really hinders the desire to adventure and see new things to get to said skill point, something I thought Anet really emphasized with development of their zones. I find it disturbing to see the sheer amount of really amazing areas in zones with no incentive to go there outside of overwhelming boredom.
Wow… Can’t tell if you are serious or not… So you say becouse you can not se the skillpoints you will explore the less? To me it is different, if there is an undiscovered part of the world I go explore it. I think most people hurt by this is for example EotM farmers who levels up in EotM and don’t have enough skillpoints and needs som quick means to get them and starts to run for every skillpoint in the world with no desire for exploring. As they can’t see the skillpoints now, it will get harder for them to track all skillpoints. But there are always other means like Wiki or other sites where they have mapped every skillpoint.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
This actually makes the PvE fights more interesting as you have to use the active defenses or you’ll die.
For dungeons this is a load of BS (in my opinion) as I have been in some (Not many) Zerker groups now and the most important thing to remember is where to stack and what skills to use to reflect, mitigate or outheal damage in a blob full of NPCS and players where you can’t see anything but flashy effects. Well okay, you will “have to” use active defenses but it isn’t very skillfull play as you more or less just throw it out as soon as the fight starts. There are some bosses some enemies that needs more planning but this is true for players with other stats to as bosses hits so hard that their thoughness, Vitality or healing power doesn’t help anyway and THAT is why people go for Zerker becouse you die from a hit anyway.
So people stack with Zerkers to quicker kill lots of enemies before they kill you, if they kill one of your friends and no NPC dies it’s a quick ress if all four is stacked to help rez and also Boons like protection and might will be easier to stack up/renew to all members if you stack up and finally skills like reflect will mostly protect everyone from NPC’s that are ranged.
If I would go with a Zerker group and starting to run around and fight my enmies head on I would get kicked before I could say ‘Hi’.
Zerker needs skills to stay alive yes, as you are glass. Zerker team in dungeons needs no skills as you will mostly stack and kill.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
Another thread about this and so many people against or for Berserker meta.
Well I am against Berserker meta and I have fixed it… I don’t play with people who thinks that you need Berserker to play the game. I myself got some Berserker geared characters but it is becouse they are good that way, but I also got Cleric and Carrion and I find them all as good as my Berserker characters. except for my Zerker Guardian (don’t want a nerf but realy needs it) that can survive better than my cleric Elementalist.
I have one suggestion though… What if base healing was lowered and Healing power was stronger? I mean that without healing power you heal realy good for example with Warriors Healing signet and Guardians Meditation healing. Though I don’t think the skills needs a nerf but healing for all needs a nerf. Some healings needs a buff after this though, like Rangers Spirit.
So, the problem now is that some enemies kills you with one hit but the rest of them hit’s pretty weak so even a Zerker Warrior can out heal them with Warrior signet. That makes Zerker one of the most Viable builds … So my thought was that maby if you couldn’t outheal your enemies? You still will kill them as fast as before, you can still dodge their attacks (You are rewarded for your skills) and Zerker will still be a Viable stat for good players but honestly at the moment you don’t have to be any darn good to play with Zerker stats in PvE (Not including Silverwastes, Teq or Evolved Jungle Wurm).
Hmm.. I am going to try explain it better…
Less base healing = Will make it harder to survive for everyone.
More effectivness to Healing Power = Will in the end with maxed out healing power even out the Healing Power making it just as good as maxed out healing power is now. That is you will not heal to much to be able to outheal everything.
Zerker meta will still be viable = Harder to survive but still as strong as before and timed dodge, Blocks and evades will have an even more important role for Zerkers.
I dunno… I am no good at this, but it is an idéa.

They have changed the champion graveling breeder to be immune to the spike traps and players have to kill it themselves.
That was a stupid move by Anet in my opinion since… Well now the stacking is more viable and well as I said do they build the game to make people stack in corners? If so that is silly… It is not fun to play like that.
You can still have 4 on traps, one running around to lure the lizards in traps, then kill champ but most people want to stack on wall cos it’s faster IF the party can handle the bleeds/cc and has enough cleave.
Been in couple of runs where people insisted on stacking on wall despite having pretty bad party composition and almost no cleave. Then they rage when everyone dies. Maybe unlucky but every single time the party got wiped at the trap part, Detha bugged out at boss traps and didn’t start the event.
I don’t think it was a stupid change, before 4 could just afk at traps and win easily. You can still do that or you can stack, which to me isn’t as easy as 4 on traps if you get a kitten party. Would be awesome if people were able to tell if they can stack or not, not just follow the same thing cos that’s all they’ve done so far.
Thank you for the tip, I will try it again next time but last time I tried it seemed like the Graveling just kept comming even if we filled up the meeter for killed gravelings. As soon as I tried to focus on champion I lost “aggro” on the other gravelings and they killed the NPC. I didn’t have any problems surviving. Well I am gonna try becouse I realy Loathe stacking.
(Sorry for late response)
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
Well, yesterday I did AC P2 for the first time in about a year…
When we end up in the room where there are spike traps that your team has to trigger and there will be a massive invasion by gravelers…
I remember a year ago I was holding all the Gravelers including the Breeder by the spikes and my team triggers the traps over and over and finally they gravelers where dead. This time I noticed that the Breeder wasn’t affected by the traps and I couldn’t hold of all gravelers long enough to kill her. Luckely two members our group knew that there was a place where we could stack (Ohh I so hate stacking like this) so we did that and we compelated it easy as pie.
Well thats the story, now to the question:
Has this Breeder always been immune to the traps or have they changed enything with that encounter? If they have, why do Anet encourage this stupid stacking method? I mean having one player tank and the rest using the traps (The true mechanic of the room) and win… Instead of everyone stack in the wall and one triggers one trap … meh..
And if they havent changed it, what could I have done wrong?
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
could’ve been fixed if bubbles were burst with F interact rather than dmg, because ppl are just to accustomed to kill everything that can take dmg.
Nonono… We don’t need more babysitting mechanics. We do not fail this boss that much anymore. What should be done is to make previous content (World Bosses, Dungeon bosses and more) harder so that people learn that new content and comming content isn’t only about stack and kill and Zerker.

Wow… Just wow… Sounds like some people have got everything they wanted or something.
I can understand that it sucks to live in a country that doesn’t teach English in school and then have games not released in their own language.
But I live in a country that does teach english and it is something you have to learn in this country. But thanks to some countrys my hopes of old Nintendo games comming to Europe was shredded becouse the companies couldn’t translate the game to (for example) Italian so they decided to not even release it in Europe at all.
You know what I did? Well if the game didn’t release in US iether I ordered it from Japan and I learned to read Japanese so I could play and understand the games.
Guild Leader of Alpha Sgc [ASGC]
This again? Are people ever gonna learn!?
It is something Anet knows, that players think NPE is bad, mostly veteran ones.
New Players cannot PvP until higher level : yes it is stupid but there is a way to play PvP at earlier level. But I would advice new players to learn the basics of the game before going in an ruin a match for others. Of all new players in my guild only 1 of 12 have started with playing a Practice match, the rest did Unranked with their game premade characters.
New players cannot fiddle with traits until a higher level (than the previous level 11, which was high anyways) : Was this a part of the NPE? I myself have a hard time to decide… First of all NO you where not able to fiddle with your traits at level 11, you got you first traitpoint at level 11 wich did more or less confuse a great number of players as when they reched higher levels they wanted to have even placement on their traitpoints and lost alot of traits that way. So there was a fix to this and now you can’t put nine points in a tree and miss out a trait. Anyway I do like that it takes time before we can trait our new characters. What I do not like is (Not a part of the NPE) that we do not have any traits to slot in our unlocked trait slots even if we have explored alot, but I am realy glad that there will be a fix for this before the expansion.
Maps have been changed. Chess in Metrica Provence? Gone.
Inquest underwater lab with sharks and occasional giant crab DE? Also gone.
Change into Sylvari Dog at Dynamic Event? Gone too.
In fact, lots of content and DE’s in a lot of zones have been changed from what they originally were. : It is not alot, it is some changes and actually some added stuff and in my opinion some Tasks has been made less boring to do.
The trait system is the worst part of it the way that they’re now so expensive and a complete money pit compared to what they were in the beginning of the game. Originally it was ‘Unlock the book for each Tier at 30, 40, and 60 with some gold you save while leveling there’. Congrats!, you now have all your trails to deal with the game’s builds the way you want. Now it is “sink a lot of gold and 100’s of skill points into these and/or travel to random world places to do… bla bla… : Don’t forget that you actually can find all traits with no cost of Gold or skillpoint. Not even part of the NPE and there is a change comming to this! How many times do people have to say this!? There is a FIX comming to the trait system before the Expansion! There is a FIX comming to the trait system before the Expansion! There is a FIX comming to the trait system before the Expansion! To defend Anet’s choise in this was to make GW2 more like GW1 where you explored the world and found/unlocked your skills through Exploring. I think the idea is cool and the last set of Traits we got is realy neat to have like this but not all of them becouse it gives new characters too little choices. I have played through the game a few times more after the NPE now and well when I reach level 80 I have around 5 Traits unlocked from exploring the world while leveling. That’s way to few and well I could have run around look for them but some skills are locked behind timed events that rarely happens.
So now people before you go make another ‘The NPE sucks’ post, please look through the old posts and there is a Merged post about how bad the NPE is and this post one will be a part of it aswell soon.

Well as said before.
Trait system is no part of the NPE and will also get a makeover before release of HoT … Well atleast that was what they have said.
The NPE has it’s goods and bads and as I have been “training” alot of new players they handle the NPE pretty well and as long as I shut up and not talk about wardrobe and salvaging stuff to get luck and unluck skins before they hit specific levels they will not get confused. I try to asnwer their questions and the rest is up to them to learn and new players do level quick and learns quick and even some players get to much information to quick even with the ultra babysitting NPE so I have to help explain stuff even clearer to them.
Try to play the game as the Veteran you are and let the new players play the game as new players and let them complain about the NPE. So again the only bad part about all this as a veteran leveling a new character is that we have to buy or search for every darn trait and this is not NPE and will get a fix.
Edit: What events has been removed from Queensdale? 90% is alot…

Why is it that alot of people complains that GW2 will not have more than 80 levels and then people complains that it takes to long time to level in the game? (Ok, sure it may not be the same people complaining).
I start to think that maby Anet should make WvW like PvP, I mean a specific WvW Gear, all unlocked traits and skills and so on… Becouse every WvW interested player (Atleast in my guild) skips PvE and jumps straight to Edge of the mists to farm levels in the usual train becouse this is what they have learned from wathing all the streamers out there. Not only do they not learn to play real WvW but they also get bored before they even reach level 80 as it feels like a grind to them (Well it bloody is!!!) and they do not have any traits and no gold to buy them and they don’t wanna do PvE to unlock them.
Anyway about OP’s post people have answered it pretty well but I must agree with most people here, GW2 is the easiest MMO to level from 1 to max and I do not understand why people rush to level to 80. Is it some mentality that belongs in WoW or something…? Games where you can’t do anything fun until you reach the end so you can do something that is called “End Game content” … Well something I try to tell every new player is ‘GW2 is not WoW, do not expect it to be like WoW’.

Or… you could, you know, try not to see English as being so superior? If it bothers you so much, learn some phrases in those languages instead of expecting them to do so. They have no obligation to learn your language so if YOU want to speak to THEM the courteous thing to do is to learn their language. Not the other way around, IMO.
