well the least like a year ago forums gms would respond and give an answer now nothing major amount of bugs including huge lag in game , Frequent Disconnect with so many players i check with them on ts3 as well skype graphic bugs for the ones can play the game , game comand issues as well , Anet just for info the population of any online game decrease by the amount of lag or bugs players would suffer during playing the game please try fix such issues fast not everyone now can play the game , Thanks

Actually, looking at the people who ACTUALLY check where the lag is (like, say with pingplotter), the lag is at Level 3 and not at Anet. Anet can’t fix most of the lag issues, since it isn’t with them, nor their ISP.

The problem is, people place the blame (due to not having any knowledge about how the internet actually works) and just blames whomever they can. And The Devs can’t reply on the forums really. They used to, then more and more people started demanding (not just posting hoping for help, but expecting help) that it was taking way too long to do that, then actually help those using the proper formats. If you need assistance with anything game related, they have ALWAYS wanted you to submit a ticket. There is a tech support even there that puts you in contact with Anet support to try to see what is going on.

If you post on the forums and expect a response, especially when it’s the weekend and they only have support agents working the tickets or keeping the servers going, then you do need a reality check.

It is one of the routing server causing the problem, ear1.Dallas1.Level3.net, ANET seriously need to do something about this.

Anet doesn’t own Level 3, nor do that work with level 3, nor do they have server with Level 3.

Level 3 is just an intersection in the internet road, and Anet happens to be a store on side road behind it. Level 3 needs to fix their intersection. Anet cannot do a thing about it. You can try speaking to your ISP and see if they can either contact Level 3 to fix it, or try their tier 2 support to reroute your connection. Or try a VPN to avoid the hop that is broken. Anet’s hands are really tied. (I even mentioned it earlier in this post. I was not kidding or trying to put Anet on a pedestal. They really have their hands tied.)

I do like when people post about Level 3 demanding ArenaNet to fix it.

Short version: Anet can’t, they don’t control it. You really have to speak to your ISP and get them to contact level 3 to fix the problem. Anet can’t help at all. They are completely stuck at being able to assist you. And it’s not that they don’t want to. They cannot help you with this, at all.

Sure, that’s why it will be unlocked…once the sale is confirmed.

Apparently, there are a lot more people using fake or stolen credit cards to buy unlocks, sometimes reselling them to an unsuspecting player looking for a deal. 72 hours does seem like a long time for verifying things via the internet. I’m guessing that there are a lot of different steps and cross-checking among several separate companies, notably ANet, Digital River (the company that handles digital sales), and at least one bank.

Actually, you can blame banks for this, it’s them who have the delay. You send them the information, and it takes them time to send it back. It’s not like Anet is being slow, they send, they wait, they receive. Banks have delays on everything. If you watch your account, they even state updates can take 24-72 hours to update online even. Banks/credit card companies are “slow”. (Not that 72 hours is slow, it’s just to someone who expects it right now, anything longer then right now is slow)

What clearer example of ‘selling of accounts’ (or keys, same thing) did CS need?

Sorry, I get what you’re trying to do and there’s nothing nefarious about it, seemingly, but from CS’ PoV you’re basically trying to sell a key.

Selling of accounts is “giving something and getting something in return.” If the friend is giving it as a gift, and doesn’t want anything in return, that’s a gift and completely different.

To the OP: I know you want the official version, but have you looked at Steam? It is selling all the versions for GW1 on it (I don’t know the pricing for it, I recently removed it from my wishlist) compared to the one on the official website. But you could look to see if it’s similar and use Steam to buy it. Steam only lists official games, so you’ll know it’s a legitimate source, plus it’s easy to gift on steam.

As I said, I don’t know the pricing, so it might be more, or less. But it’s an easy gifting option if the other way isn’t working.

You have to take it up with your bank. If they cancelled your card and did the charge back, it’s on them. Anet’s payment processor is extremely diligent on any charge backs that occur on accounts.

You are welcome to post your ticket number and a (very) brief explanation in the review stick thread (and yes, I mean brief, not the novel you wrote) and see if Michael can look into it. I do say it again, this is not Anet’s fault. It is on your bank, and you really need to take it up with them and be angry with them. Anet incurred a lot of fees because of what your bank did.

It will convert the purchase into USD, so you could buy gems, or you could use it at another store (say locally) and they can charge the card, and such.

There isn’t anything “illegal” to having your friend by the game and you give him that card, but if you also give him gold, that could be borderline selling/buying gold which is against the ToS.

To help your friend do the jump puzzles (trust me, I am terrible at them and needed help). Just get on a mesmer for them and do portals. I know it’s slow, but it’s at least done within the limits Anet allows.

Never never never do a charge back unless it’s a fraud charge on your card. It will cause you so many issues that you have no idea.

That’s incredibly unfortunate. Especially because there was no malicious intent on his end, or anyone’s for that matter. Just a misunderstanding.

I’m definitely never going to purchase anything from ANet unless absolutely sure. I’ve also read of people wanting refund for gems during server latency (purchasing multiple times due to the gems arriving in a delayed fashion and such), so I’m even more wary of any future purchases and how to handle them.

If you purchase something from somewhere (not just Anet) and you do exactly what you said, you don’t call your credit card company and demand a charge back. You should call the company you dealt with and they are usually really good about refunds and such. Anet has always been with that. A charge back isn’t asking for a refund, it’s actually really bad, and costs everyone so much money.

Your friend didn’t ask for a refund, he didn’t even speak to Anet. Instead, your friend caused them a lot of extra work, and they lose quite a bit of money. That isn’t anything to do with a refund, nor their policy.

Anet has a really good refund policy IF you speak to them. Doing a charge back is not the way.

The reason it takes so long to get the gems is to prevent fraud, gold seller can buy accounts on a bogus cards trade the gems for gold and sell that gold in minutes and sometime it can take a couple of days to check if a card is legit. Anet is just protecting their interests and the game economy.

Which is fine, but their wording of up to gives people the expectation (totally reasonably IMHO) that in all probability unless there’s some sort of glitch or a sudden rush it won’t take that long.

Managing expectations is an important communication skill, something often lacking it seems.

Up to 72 hours means anywhere from 1-72 hours. If you assume otherwise, that is on you. The expectation set was “You will receive your gems within 1-72 hours”. And that happens 99% of the time. It actually could be sooner. There were people getting them within 24 hours.

The game is about 30 gigs in size, which is standard for many games these days. If your hard drive is that full, you really should either look at cleaning it up (see if you have a lot of temp files to remove) or think about additional storage. This game really isn’t that big considering many single player games are about this size or larger.

Send the traceroute to your ISP showing them where the issue is. How the internet works is you follow a path from A – B. Not every program will follow the same path.

GW2 Might be on Path 1, your flaky work VPN on Path 2. Path 1 might have a hop that is having issues (as would have been seen in a traceroute) but path 2 doesn’t use that hop, so it’s fine. That’s really all you can do. It’s actually your ISPs job to contact the owners/maintainers of the malfunctioning hops when there are issues, but many of the T1 tech agents don’t seem to know this information.

Sometimes banks just delay processing. It happens. Not much anyone on the forums can do. It actually could be his bank ensuring that he wanted 2 copies of it and that it wasn’t a second request accidentally sent through.

It really could be so many things that occurred as to why there is a delay. It also could be that since he sent it to you, but it’s his billing information that that is a delay, to ensure you didn’t steal his credit information to buy the game.

Sometimes there is just a natural delay that occurs.

That’s asking for the authenticator code. Were you using the google app for it? It’s not asking for the SMS code to be sent to you, it’s asking for the code from an app on your phone.

It is against the ToS to give your registered account to another player.

|If an account had been bought it makes no difference to the developer WHO plays it so this prohibition is simply corporate greed.

Actually many games (especially online ones) are like this.

Why:

“I was banned, but I never swore, that was the other person who used my account. I shouldn’t be punished. " (As in, this wastes supports time dealing with this, and yes, there are people who feel like this).

“Well, it’s MY account” “No, it’s MY account” (Who is the actual owner, more work for support)

“They stole my items/deleted my character. I want them back, and I don’t want to pay for it.”

As you can see, these are just some of the issues when you share an account. Many companies don’t want this hassle. Nothing to do with greed…. especially when you don’t have to pay a monthly fee for Gw2.

It sounds like you are getting dropped from the internet and when you try to log back in, you are the one logged in on your account.

You can contact support and ask for help, and ensure it’s just your IP logged in on the page as previously explained.

Also, if he has 2 step authentication on, but said “remember this network”, it won’t prompt him to enter it again since his IP isn’t changing.

If it’s level 3 you need to contact your ISP and have them contact Level 3. They actually aren’t connected to Anet in any way. Level 3 just owns many of the internet hops that people use to pass through to get to where they want to go.

There is a difference between the base game and the f2p versions. Some people might want a second account for storage or something, and need the paid access, but not necessarily need the expansion.

Theres a problem with some DNS routes, and nd estrangely with everything involving silverwastes and Living World Season 2 private instance.

I solved this by changing my Google DNS DNS to OpenDNS.

The Anet has to pay attention to this problem. Not all players have advanced knowledge like me.

The symptoms are more severe when entering private instance of “Living World Season 2”. The problem disappeared when I stopped using GoogleDNS.

Other procedures:
DNS cache cleaning
Reconnect after clearing the cache.

The fact that it’s Telia.net’s issue shows that it really is outside of Anet’s issue. And changing your DNS, if you really have very limited computer knowledge (and seeing some of the comments, there are many people in that situation) is not always a wise choice.

This is how routing on the internet works. Sometimes connections between you and your destination are having issues, and really all you can do is contact your ISP and have them use their back end support inform the hop that is having issues.

Read again what i wrote. I logged in FIRST TIME that day. FIRST. TIME. THAT. DAY. Got locked out on FIRST ATTEMPT to join any group.

And I said from a previous attempt, as in ANOTHER DAY.

Because then people would just log out and have it reset. It doesn’t seem to be on log out that it resets, but on time in game….

Their restoration tool is what they use to restore an account that has been hacked.

They have been very honest that GW1 is in maintenance mode and have very limited support for that game now.

Doesn’t matter IF people can run the game, they have chosen that their resources are better spent on GW2 then GW1.

Yeah, that’s not crashing, that’s disconnecting. Completely different.

Could be many things that is causing it. Could be the path your internet connection takes from your modem to Anet servers hit a hop that has issues.

Could be that your internet provider has issues.

Could be that your network card can’t actually handle really high volumes of bandwidth being transferred across it.

The reason is, that is not an expansion, but an expansion + base game. You could have created a new account with it. You could have given the account to someone else. You could have multiple accounts to attach it to.

I know you were busy, but it’s pretty clear in the email all the information about it. Everywhere it said you need to register HoT to your account. Buying the game doesn’t necessarily add it to your account.

Reset account with authenticator malfunction

I have another account which I stupidly enabled the2F authentication using the Windows Authenticator. After running the authenticator and receiveing the authentication code from ArenaNet, I entered the code and successfully logged into my account with the code generated by the authenticator.

However…my laptop crashed before I closed the Windows Authenticator program and the GW2 account DID NOT SAVE. So now when I log into my account I need to enter an authenitcation code from the WinAuthenticator but the WinAuthenticator is asking for the secret code to pair the authenticator with my account.

Therefore – I cannot log into my account on this website or the game! I have submitted a support ticket but that’s like a week away from resolving. Anyone have any ideas on how to get around this and remove the authenticator from the account?

Have to wait for support. It’s not a weeks worth of wait. Their SLA is a week incase something happens. They have been handling tickets faster then that.

Yes, people with a 32-bit OS will eventually be screwed. The new zones simply use too much memory and over time as they further increase the quality of new content, it’ll only worsen.

Assuming there isn’t a bug causing extra memory usage, the only “fix” for those with a 32-bit OS will be to lower your settings. If they actually fixed it, that’s what they would end up doing in an attempt to reduce memory usage. If you’ve ever seen a dev demo of a game and noticed it looked much worse at release, that is because of optimizations like this.

If you have Windows 7 or above, you may be able to upgrade to the 64-bit version for free, plus there’s the free 10 upgrade. https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software-download/home. I think Vista also supports it, but Microsoft no longer offers it for download.

BEWARE THOUGH: You have to upgrade to a 64 bit OS before Upgrading to Windows 10. But Windows did give everyone with a non prebuilt 32 OS key a free upgrade to 64 bit. You just needed to get the download.

Understandable if it were not for the fact that support refuses to give the guy information as to why he was banned. If I suddenly ended up being banned and was told “you know what you did!” while I did nothing at all, you’d bet I’d put a thread on every forum or a post on every medium available to me. I didn’t spend €300+ over the years to end up getting banned.

Cheating on 2 of your 9 accounts got all 9 of them banned.

Logging in to an account that was used to cheat is a pretty good reason to suspect one of cheating.

And he replied that he doesn’t even have 9 accounts. Hence my initial post that this needs further research from a GM. Bluntly removing access from your accounts and ignoring any ticket made is not really respectful.

He bought the game for crying out loud, the least he could receive is some thorough support that isn’t copy pasting a “you were caught cheating” message to everyone asking what they were banned for.

People lie. He “claims” to not own 9 accounts. Do you know him personally? Can you actually walk to his house right now, and log in on his computer because you are that good of friends?

Otherwise, it’s just claims. And everyone else really should stay out of it.

The same person with two accounts violated the rules; they should be punished.

Fix that for you.

Which is where the disagreement lies. Banning all of someone’s accounts accounts because they broke the rules on some of them is ridiculous with a couple of possible exceptions (for example, abusing exploits on one account to feed gold/materials to a main account).

Say I have 3 accounts and decided to share one with a friend. I get caught. Do I deserve to have all of my accounts banned or just the one that was shared/had the rules broken? Personally, I’m solidly in the “just the one account, if at all” camp. The ToS are agreed to on a per account basis; how can they be applied across multiple accounts?

It wasn’t his friend logging on his computer, he actually said he logged into his friend’s account on his computer. That is a HUGE difference.

Just taking things at face value, that’s interesting that it would get his account banned at all; if anything, I’d think it would be the friend’s account. Not that they’d even be able to get you for account sharing unless you’re a moron and admit to it ingame or the login location of the account bounces around the country at a rate faster then it’s possible to travel and they have some reason to look at it.

Somone else claimed that they were innocent in a gold scheme. He was friends with a gold seller. Went to that persons house, logged in his account. Even send gold back and forth. And feels he was banned wrong.

If it was a free to play upgraded to HoT: No, account is fully closed. It doesn’t get reverted back to free to play.

It’s not. With the conversion plus any fees your card charges, you could be over. The conversion right now is almost $100, and some prepaid cards charge if you try to convert to another currency. You could contact the card company first and see what, if any fees there are.

Well then support is the only want to get assistance. Something happened, and they will tell you when you reach them. You won’t get a personal response on the forums. They are too busy right now, especially since the main person who handles this forum works during the week.

You paid in USD. If your funds used to pay wasn’t in USD, it will always be converted. Unless you have a US fund credit card (some banks in Canada have them), it will always convert.

If you submitted in game, that’s a bug report, and it clearly states no reply will be given.

If you want a response, you need to submit a ticket from the support tab at the top.

Did you open the mail on that character? I ask because the mail is over an hour old. Is it possible you opened it on an alt, and that character has the bag unlocked?

If the key was purchased and charged back, then yes, Anet has every right to not allow the key.

It’s like you buying a used car. Oh, turns out that car was stolen. The police will take the property from you. You won’t get arrested if you were just an innocent by-stander in the scheme, BUT, you will lose the car and the money you spent.

This isn’t a witch hunt. It’s just life.
