Yeah, at node 8 you are having issues. By the way, that’s not owned by Anet nor their ISP.

Also, you have packet issues starting right at your IP address on both of them. Not a lot, but the NA one is higher then the EU one (assuming it’s NA top, EU bottom). Both of those can cause problems. But in the end, node 8 is your issue. Your ISP has the ability to inform the owners of the issue, but it’s usually tier 2 tech who can contact them, and the tier 1 (front line) guys tend to not be aware of how to do this.

This thread should just be closed. It is very toxic at this point and all suggestions have been made in helping OP with his problem. Basically OP has to submit a ticket. Please close the thread.

What I don’t understand is THIS REDDIT POST in which the same “mistake” was made: https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/3wsxb7/character_name_banned_now_picked_up_by_someone/ …has OVERWHELMING support, with lots of upvotes and positive messages from the community.

The same thing happens to me, and all I have is people defending Anet and claiming I’m “trolling” or here to stir up drama.

Because now you are changing your tune. First it was “Anet changed my character name without even asking me” to “Someone took a name I had”.

Those 2 posts aren’t even related. You ARE positive someone at Anet has a personal vendetta against where as that player had a name dinged, and discovered it late. Buddy, you just aren’t that special. Also, Reddit is full of people who are all positive Anet is evil, while on Anet’s forums, we’ve seen the truth more often then not.

So if you really want an answer, submit a ticket. Otherwise it’s really time to move on. You’re just making your story seem less likely the more you change your tune, or when someone doesn’t agree with you (which, you have pulled even on people saying just submit a ticket and find out). If you want answers, go to Anet. Otherwise move along.

Well, many of the people who are having “this issue” are actually having node issues not related to Anet at all.

If you want help, send in a ticket to Anet, and they will teach you how to run ping plotter to see where the issue is, and then they will go from there. Anet can’t comment on the forums and say “yep, we’ll fix that” when you haven’t even shown where the issue is.

So is anyone gonna post a solution here or just keep telling us to report the issue. I have been lagging hard now for two weeks. All I do is PVP on a thief and it in unplayable. Rubberbanding everywhere. Where the kitten is ANET support in this thread? No reassurances. I live in Ft. Lauderdale and am getting bent over with lag. Someone say something remotely useful. I hate to be a douhe, but I do not see any solutions anywhere. Please message me in-game if you have any solutions or post it on the forums to help those with problems. I attached pingplotter for one match. Although that match was not too bad. I has been horrible the last couple weeks. HELP!

Well, what you posted is showing issues starting at your ISP (the #2 on the page) with a 2% packet loss that is carried throughout your trip. So yeah, you need to talk to your ISP since it starts there. The issue isn’t on Anet’s end at all based on what you submitted.

The main issue: Node 2 is having packet loss (that is your ISP), which is carried throughout your whole trip, and Node 5, which is owned by Level 3. Your ISPs tier 2 tech support has the ability to send a ticket about the issue to them. How fast Level 3 fixes it is up to them.

Anet’s support can’t really post anything and help you because it’s completely outside of their control.

GW2 could be forcing your power supply to work harder, and it is having a problem, or your power supply could be having a power issue. If you want specific assistance you should submit a ticket.

None of us know what really happened. It’s obvious something else is going on that you aren’t telling us, since you are refusing to speak to the people who can actually help.

Then make a support ticket or move on. Complaining on the forums about a GM’s actions is actually against their forum rules. I don’t care what your reason is, they have the rule. If you want answers, send in a ticket. Otherwise, move on. You’re just stirring up trouble when only you and support know the truth. And considering all the people who have done the “But I was banned and I only swore 1 time” when in reality it was many many times (Anet was posting what people said on reddit to remove the cloud of doubt, at the person’s request) that it’s really hard for me to believe anyone was “wrongfully actioned again”

When those happen you need to run ping plotter to the Anet ip address you are on to see where the issue is. The fact that it’s not everyone means it’s a really good chance there is a problem somewhere between you and Anet. Running ping plotter will show where the problem is so you know whom to contact.

Dual Display Blinking

I’ve got a 250 watt power supply in the second display. The first one has a 212 watt supply. I don’t think it’s a power issue, because as I’ve said I changed the second one last week.

I only have had problems since the recent updates. Once all the screen refresh stuff is done, it finally settles down and I can use the second display as normal.

I’ve also tried repairing the clients on both Mac OS X and Windows 7.

I was more referring to your computers power supply to your video card. It was sounding it like can’t keep up.

I have lost my phone and with it the code and app. I haven’t changed my router yet so it hasn’t been a problem, but i’d rather address it now then later. If anything I do have the Security code that they told me not to lose.

If you have a new phone with the app installed, you can try setting it up with the security code you do still have. Otherwise you can contact support and ask them to remove the app for you, and then you can set it up again on the new phone.

Sometimes when launching GW2, the game gets “stuck” at roughly 15 FPS, no matter what settings I’m using — lowest across the board, 15 FPS. Max settings, 15 FPS. Same everywhere in the game world. CPU, GPU and memory utilization are low/medium.

Win7. i7-5820k, NVidia GTX970, 16gb memory, decent sized SSD. Many other modern games run at 100+ FPS.

Often this can be fixed by restarting the computer, but that’s a pain in the rear. Any suggestions?

UPDATE: Restart of the computer is not required. I simply have to restart the game 1-2 times every time I start playing until it starts “properly” and I get a solid 60 FPS instead of being locked at 15. Still dunno what’s causing it, but it seems to be on the client software side.

Try disabling any Nvidia software that runs, like GeForce Experience or ShadowPlay.

Ok.. at my wits end here. Haven’t played GW2 since maybe November 2015 due to my busy work schedule. Thought I’d update today and hop in game to enjoy some tyria and once I hop into a HoT map, I get TOPS 10 FPS. If I go to a vanilla map, I am up to 60 FPS. My graphics are set to low as they can go on the HoT map and I still only get up to 10FPS. If I look at the ground, I can jump the FPS up, but other than that— no dice. The game is unplayable. I had no issues back in November, so I’m not sure what’s going on.

I’ve read this thread and saw the many helpful posts. Most importantly running GPU-Z and if the graphics card isn’t running at x16, then you need to reseat the card. I’ve done that 3 times now and mine consistently reads out as x2.

Any ideas on what’s going on here guys? I really just wanted to enjoy GW2 today on this snowy crappy day lol.

edit; Alrighty, so I was able to get it up to x8 by switching it to a different PCIe slot… I can’t get it up to x16… What could be preventing this? :\ I am actually getting some ok ish frame rates now. I’ve at least hit 20 FPS in HoT, so it’s playable.

The original slot might have been the correct one. The PCIe slot that would be the x16 one is the one closest to your cpu. It could have been dusty or the card just needed to be reseated.

Really strange keyboard problem

Someone said something similar to this on another post.

I think they said they had to disable some Nvidia software and it fixed the issue. Maybe it was Shadow Play… I’ll try to find the post, but I wanted to see if you had any non-driver related Nvidia software installed.

The issue seems to have been linked to NVIDIA GeForce and the ShadowPlay feature. When I disabled ShadowPlay, my game functions as normal. I am concerned because up until today, I could use ShadowPlay with no issues. But I’ll take what I can get.

I use that resolution and run the game on 1 monitor and use a 2nd for everything else. It could be a couple of things. Windows 7 here, so I don’t think it’s completely a windows problem per say.

I’m wondering if it’s a power issue though. That your power supply isn’t able to keep up with the demand.

NA/EU Version Question

Lag will be based on what server it picks. There will be EU servers and NA servers. The region is just where the code is from and has no effect on the game.

So as long as he picks an EU server, he’ll be in the EU. It quite possible the store you purchased the game from uses an NA center for their distribution.

Then post his ticket number in the review thread. It’s quite possible the support agent did not understand what he was asking. Anet has been extremely clear if a refund request is needed to speak to them about it.

Same issue as last time has returned. OCE, SEA and Western BC having connection issues from what I can tell. I’m not going to post any speed tests. It’ll tell me the same thing as last time. My internet is fine. Somewhere on the way to Anet’s servers it’s dying. Anet says nothing about a fix because it’s the weekend and then the game miraculously is fixed.

You understand that Anet doesn’t own the whole connection path between you and them right?
So saying somewhere on the way to them is dying. Unless it’s their ISP or their servers, it’s 100% outside of their control. They do not pick the path YOUR connection takes. They do not maintain all of those nodes that YOUR connection passes through.
Unless it’s their ISP or their server, it’s completely outside of their control. The best thing you can do when it’s happening in run a trace route (ping plotter is free and easy to use), and you can even post the picture here. But unless it’s Anet’s ISP or server, they cannot fix it.

And the fact that it’s OCE and Western Canada leads me to believe there is a node down somewhere there that is having some massive issues. Best you can do is contact your ISP with your ping plotter picture so they can contact the owners of the node to be fixed.

Google that file, and you’ll find answers. It’s actually not an easy process, and you might have to try a few of the methods. It’s malware.

GW2 is giving me good framerate when my settings are set to medium, but otherwise, it’s giving me like 40fps. Not sure why. Brand new PC with the following specs:

AMD FX-8350 4GHz 8-core
MSI Radeon R9 390 8GB
8GB RAM DDR3-1600
Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0 ATX AM3+ mobo
Samsung 850 EVO SSD

EDIT: I get perfect performance in other games, like The Witcher 3, so I doubt it’s a PCI-E slot issue.

It’s your processor. It’s about 3 years old now market wise. I can get about 50 with that one, which I’m happy with.

I’m having this exact problem this morning … guild wars had a short update, clicked play, then BAM!
“Unable to initialize 3D output. Please verify that you have installed DirectX 9 and an updated video driver.”
i can say i was playing for hours last night with absolutely no problems ! cant see how rolling my driver back would fix anything as it was perfect last night !

is this maybe a patch Bug, or how on earth do i fix it ! .. really not to great with PC’s and this isn’t easy!

Windows 10 also had an update today. The issue with Windows 10, there will be times you have no idea it happened, which can match up with patches in games.

…sigh, its funny that my original pingplotter did not have that in it. It showed up when I reran it because I did not save a sample from the original.

Oddly, while I was playing with the second pingplotter running, I never had a single problem in the game like I did shortly after the download yesterday.

Comcrash is not user friendly but is the only game in my town unfortunately.

It’s not your ISP having the issue either. It’s one of the paths you take from your ISP to Anet. It’s outside of both of their control BUT your ISP does have the ability to contact Level 3 and let them know.

Next time, you have to post the picture showing the issue is at Anet. Saying it without any proof is never going to get a problem fixed. And the fact that what you did show is clearly showing an issue at Level 3, I highly suspect that the same issue was happening before.

Yeah, your hop 5 is having issues, which isn’t something Anet can fix as it’s outside of their control.

Your ISP has the ability to contact Level 3, but Level 3 is very well known for not fixing issues like this for some time.

I am guessing I am using pingplotter wrong. It starts off looking like other pingplotter pictures I’ve seen posted and then after a few seconds I get this.

Change the 42 (last number in the IP) to 1 and try again.

Hey DoM, I’m from New-Brunswick also and I’m experiencing the same problem, random lag spikes every 30-60 sec. I’m getting rubberbanding issues with movement skill also. I’m not getting kicked out of the game just some random 1-2s delay on skill when the ping spike. It’s been happening for 3-4 days now.

Everyone is saying it’s ISP based, but every ping test, internet speed test etc I’ve done is telling my my connection is fine. The only test I’m getting packet loss is between me and anet, every other test I did i’m getting no packet loss.

The test I did were various ping test on the internet, the cmd ping test, tracert and the gw2 diagnostic test.

Also judging from the test you did I’m pretty sure you are using rogers isp and using a hitron CGN3A model modem/router combo. Some people got some issues with those modem, but they were connection issues with everything internet related, not specific to 1 game.

On a side note I’m getting no lag from other online games I’m playing, everything is running normally. So I think the problem is coming from anet side and the best we can do is wait for a fix.

Run Ping plotter.

Seriously, EVERYONE needs to run it, and post the picture. Posting a picture of your ping in game does nothing. Posting a picture of ping plotter does.

Because I can easily say it this way: I drive to Store A and hit 0 traffic, thus there is no traffic. You drive to Store B and are stuck in traffic for 40 minutes. Sorry, but you are wrong, because I didn’t hit traffic.

That’s the same with video games. Server A and Server B will have different paths. Server A might have a hop with an issue, while Server B doesn’t. Doesn’t mean Server A is broken since B is working. Just means somewhere along the way there is a traffic jam.

This is why it’s SOOOOOOOOOOO important to run ping plotter and POST THE PICTURE.

When I do a tracert lines 14,15, and 16 drop. I’m assuming thats the cause of the spikes…

Can you post it? Those “drops” are 99.99% of the time due to the IPs actually blocking your ping requests to prevent ddos’s. Just run ping plotter and post the picture it gives.

Nothing Anet can really do about this. Most likely it’s your ISP. Run a ping plotter to determine that.

It doesn’t appear to be ISP related given that the lag is quite spontaneous, is affecting lots of Oceania players over various countries, and not continuous . I’ve never had ping problems before yesterday and it was quite severe. It went away after about half an hour so wasn’t majorly distressing, but at least when it happened to me I wasn’t in the middle of anything.

So as the person said, run a ping plotter to determine the issue. Spontaneous lag still very much can be either ISP or a hop between you and Anet, both of which are outside of Anet’s control.

It sounds like your network port is unable to handle all the bandwidth needed when you play GW2. That could be a cable issue, your actually port on your motherboard, or it could be that your ISP is throttling you.

Actually, if you read my reply, I quote the person I was talking to….. IC is someone who posts on the forums a lot. They use their home phone for SMS since they can’t use a cell phone. Still works. And no, you WON’T get the pop up because you have some form of protection.

SMS isn’t much use for those of us who don’t have the ability to receive them!

The most convenient .. or shall I say the lease inconvenient .. of such systems I have to deal with is Rift’s Coin Lock, it’s fairly painless and only triggers when there may be a need for it, 2FA is simply a PITA to have to deal with in any form simply to play a bloody video game!

IC actually uses their home phone to receive SMS, so unless you have no phone at all, you can use it. Or you can use an authenticator. The reminder is only popping up for people have no 0 protection on their account. So there is cell phone, home phone or email. That should cover 99.99% of people.

I log in and everything is fine with a 20-60 msec ping. After 20-25 minutes into the game, this happens:

Your node 7 is really high, but you first need to handle hop 2, which is your ISP. Send this to them and talk to them to see what is going on.

Looks like your issue is when you hit gtt.net witch is most likely a fiber optic backbone that could have a node issue that is out of Anets control this may clear itself eventually but the most you can hope for is to send the ping path log to your ISP the may be able to forward it to gtt.net. The high ping and error coming off Anets Ip is the security system rejecting the ping request.

It’s not even really high ping, it’s just the continuation of the ping from node 6 having issues. But I do agree, your node 6 is the problem, which is completely outside of Anet’s control. Your ISP would be a better place to contact and have them forward the information to the owners so they can get it fixed.

That is not hot. At all. You’ve either got good cooling or live in a fairly cold place.

Other games run pretty great, battlefield 4 at ultra = 60 + fps, Witcher 3 with some settings ranging form medium to ultra = 60 + fps, WoW (which is also quite CPU intensive can handle 60+ fps with 40 + players unless everyone is stacked up casting a spells, etc).

Wow isn’t CPU intensive. Most games aren’t actually

Run CPU-Z and GPU-Z and post the pictures here. Make sure to have GW2 running when you run both of them and take screenshots.

sorry, but your pc is rly bad for this game.. i have i5 2.6GHz, 8GB ram, GT310M and i cant rly play this game on my notebook.. your setup is similiar.. so just get better PC.. nothign can help u..
and i wont believe you if u say u had more FPS before
25-30FPS is unplayable, try to play 50FPS+, its totaly different game then
u get your ping higher cuz your CPU is bottneck

That’s a really lame and lazy response. 30FPS is already dream for me since that’s the maximum amount of FPS I can get on a console… I don’t give two feathers about 60FPS, and yes the game was PLAYABLE and it is sometimes; but the problem just pops out of nowhere randomly.

And simply saying ‘get a new pc’ is just dumb and a time waster. If you don’t have anything useful to say, then don’t even bother.

And I’m aware that my laptop isn’t good, but I played GW2 just fine and still play TERA just fine. It’s an issue that has been happening to a lot of people recently with no fix to be found.

That’s the thing about older computers, they will start to have issues with an ever changing mmo. As a computer ages, games that did work won’t work as well. It’s how computers work. You have a barely minimum requirement laptop, which will have mobile (as in, reduced) capability of their desktop versions. That’s how laptops work. Your computer is showing it’s age. Doesn’t matter what other people are having issues with or not. Your computer is really showing it’s age now.

I can´t play with one of my characters

The game is in a very bad way at the moment with lots of people having issues from high pings, lag, crashes, fps isuues and so on.

I logged in yesterday and didn’t even have time to type “hi all” in guild chat before I crashed. Everything was fine until 26th patch.

I have taken a break until Anet sort it out.

Actually, most of the “high ping and lag issues” are unrelated to Anet and they can’t even fix it. It’s completely out of their hand. It’s people who don’t actually understand how the internet works that blame Anet.

Well its funny you say that when my game ran fine until after the 26th patch, no crashes, hardly any lag, no ping issues. Now it runs like a bag of kitten.

I know how the internet works and I also know my PC is fine and so is my connection.

Well then, what node is having issues? And what is the IP address, and can you show the trace route you ran to show where the lag was occurring? You should be able to show all of this if you are 100% positive the connect between you an Anet is 100% fine.

Crashing more times than i can count

Ah! I see! Well those crashes I posted were using the 32bit client, I thought maybe I might get different results because I don’t notice anything with 64bit. I’ll play with 64bit and when I crash again I’ll check if my virtual memory is still capping.

If it is having the issues you mentioned.. What could I do to fix it?

You can run a memory test and see if your sticks of memory are working correctly. Or you can even just use compressed air and blow the computer out to make sure it’s not a dust issue. Sometimes dust just makes things not work.

But if you were using the 32bit client, then yes, switching to the 64 bit will make a huge difference.
