Your skin will wrinkle and your youth will fade, but your soul is endless.
I know OP means well and is trying to help, but as someone who dislikes abbreviations (I know I’m in the minority here), I’ll stick to spelling things out completely for clarity’s sake.
While the above posters are right about there being a lot of angst regarding the upcoming patch and Heart of Thorns expansion, and I have witnessed some lively conversation in map chat about these things, I have yet to see anyone behave like what OP is describing.
~knocks on door~
Candygram!
I’m going to wait until an official release, like I do with all my games.
I love this city.
…when will it be destroyed?
Is that a request?
Oh Gods no! I was merely wondering if it was premonition or paranoia
~starts packing bags~must leave Divinity’s Reach right away~
So again, I’m curious… Where do you think this impending doom for Divinity’s Reach is coming from?
Good question, and good reasoning. My answer to that is: I don’t know.
It’s entirely possible that after 10 years of fighting since open beta of Guild Wars 1 that the peace and complacency of Divinity’s Reach makes me uncomfortable, or even paranoid, and expecting danger everywhere.
I love this city. I love wandering the streets, the place feels so vibrant and alive. I always feel better going there. However, things being as they are in Tyria, every time I visit this city, I always get this nagging feeling of impending doom. and I can’t help but wonder…
…when will it be destroyed?
No worries OP, I’ve beta tested. heck even alpha tested a few games, but never pre-ordered any game, ever., no matter how much I liked the game. Heart of Thorns won’t change my stance, that’s just how I am.
Well, look at it this way, at least this isn’t the World of Tanks community. Those people make the people OP met today look like saints.
~golf claps for OP~
I’ve always been a “wait and see” kind of person. This attitude has served me well over the years (same with “I’ll believe it when I see it”). I’ve always been rather patient, and understand that things change and/or become more clear over time.
That being said, recent events reminds me of Micorsoft’s Xbox One reveal and the rage that ensued.
Interesting, you get to fight for your guild hall instead of just buying it like in Guild Wars 1.
Well, the notes/interview did say there would be a (minimal?) cost in Gold to attain the contract for the ability to fight for the Guild Hall.
Right, but you’re/we’re/they’re not buying it outright, right?
Interesting, you get to fight for your guild hall instead of just buying it like in Guild Wars 1.
This feature was in Guildwars 1.
GW1 also had alliances, factions, and guild halls. 1 down 3 to go i guess.
Factions for wvw instead of servers, alliances so that guilds can band together without losing their identity. Build saving for everything from pve to wvw to loading up the latest metagame builds (you could share your saved builds from GW1 too).
All of which should have been in THIS game from day 1. For the life of me, I can’t think of a sensible reason why they weren’t included.
I completely support this. I’ve only been playing for a little over three months and I already wish I could send every one of those super sound effects minis to the cornfield. I can only imagine the rage of those who have been playing longer.
This is also one of the reasons why I like my mini Pact Airship. It doesn’t make a sound, it just glides along.
I’ve always been fascinated by the RP chat I’ve seen. I wanted to join in but didn’t want to bother them, so I’ll say something like “Zerina couldn’t help but overhear the conversation, but decided it was none of her business and moved along.”
Well, no matter which outfit you get, just remember; if someone asks you if you’re a god, you say YES!
A new playable race would also require a new personal story so here goes for Skritt:
“I am Skritt. Yes yes. Long time ago, we lived in caves and under ground. It was dark but was skritt home. But then, destroyers came to get us, and we had to run away!
We found new home in outside world, but the sun was very bright. Yes, bright. We make living from finding shinies. Lots of shines makes us live with nicer things.
Skrittburg is my home. We live with lots of Skritt and look after Skritt King who must stay alive on throne for long time. Yes, but bad people like nightmares and grey ears and tall men come to get Skritt King.
Today, I chosen to leave Skrittburg to find lots of shinies, but instead, I found the bad nightmare people trying to capture other Skritt. I must do something, and help them from being slaves.
This is my story. Yes yes!"
I understand this has been touched by a Thread Necromancer, but I just wanted to say well done PH, well done.
Maybe you should chain yourself to Anet’s doors until you get that title.
Nope. Everytime. To tired to bother reposting any of the arguments against here. Give this thread a day or two and it will die off again till somone makes the next mount thread. And then the same people will come in saying Yes or No. Like it happens every single time
Isn’t it beautiful to have something to rely on?
Like death, taxes, and mounts threads?
Well, then it’s a good thing I like to revive to help players instead of just seeing numbers float up into the sky.
To be honest. I hope they don’t go to Elona or Cantha at all…
…..you’re dead to me.
Why?? cause I have an opinion different then yours?? Why would you play an MMO in the first place?
Maybe instead of wishing me dead, try to read my motivations. I truly can’t believe people want another reworked zone over new and surprising designs and styles. Cantha and Elona where beautifull, but it is the past. I rather see them make new things. Just as astonishing, but new.
I love for example the “grand canyon”- look of drytop. That is something that really dropped my jaw, as much as shing jea island dropped my jaw. However. If they remake shing jea island now, it wouldn’t drop my jaw, cause I know how it looks.
It’s a common joke, Merc, relax.
~peace and hugs~
To be honest. I hope they don’t go to Elona or Cantha at all…
…..you’re dead to me.
Please don’t forget Abaddon…a dead god is still a god and he also deserve some love..
No, he tried to kill me. To the Mists with him.
My only hope is that the Jade Sea is still solid if they release a Canthan update.
With the current underwater combat system I would hate to experience it.
I believe the lore set forth has stated that the Jade Sea is returning to it’s liquid state. It may very well be completely liquid again by this time.
“rumors claim that since Shiro’s second defeat the Jade Sea had been liquifying once more.”
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Cantha#The_Jade_Sea
Still that said, I hope we get the chance to actually see for ourselves
huh, I wonder what will happen to all those chunks of jade with creatures inside them that they dug out, such as the one resting on the beach at Mehtani Keys in Istan.
“Hey check out my rare and expensive artifact that I had shipped all the way from Cantha!”
~artifact liquifies all over the room~
“……”
I just made a Elementalist the other day.
You can manually input any level range you wish. It’s slightly more cumbersome than a quick “match level” button but it works.
Click the little cog wheel to get a drop down of custom options such as rarity and level.
I actually never noticed that. Thanks for that tip!
There’s lots of stuff to do…but there’s nothing you have to do.
That’s quite true and many people interpret that as a lack of content. When in fact Anet basically lets you pick your own goals and reach them at your own pace.
That’s my line of thinking precisely.
A lot of people seem to be needlessly throwing around the “lack of content” phrase without truly understanding what it means.
To be fair, if you’ve been playing since launch, at this point, there’s not much left to do…which is normal for lots of games at various points in their development, particularly shortly before an expansion launches.
But when you first hit 80…plenty left to do…just not end game content as defined by other games.
Sure, I guess.
However, as someone who still plays Guild Wars 1, which hasn’t had any new content for quite some time, and has played that game since open beta, I’m finding it difficult to identify with the OP. I always find something to do. Maybe I’m an anomaly. ~shrug~

I can completely, totally, 200% get behind this. An excellent idea!
10 years later, I still play Guild Wars 1 a few days a week. I guess I have a lot more patience than others.
As an aside to this issue, can NPCs rez dead players?
Ive often seen NPCs rezzing other dead NPCs , but never a player.
Would be cool if they could especially if you die somewhere and there are NPCs around who will run to your aid.
Actually, I have been resurrected by an NPC, but it was a commander at Red Rock in Silverwastes, even while on top of the wall. I can’t remember if I’ve witnessed that anywhere else.
As for resurrecting others, I do it when I can, and I kind of feel bad when I can’t. It’s in my nature to be helpful to others. I’m also not offended if they don’t say anything, there may be a variety of reasons why they are silent.
Zerina on the lookout!
Armor:
*Mantle: Outrider’s
*Coat: Outrider’s
*Gloves: Seer
*Leggings: Seer
*Boots: Seer
Dyes:
*Midnight Teal
*Burnished Steel
*Iron
I don’t have any Legendary or Ascended armor or fancy dyes yet, so sue me (But I did find a neat axe skin).
Actually you DO see your character if the camera pans over the vista point, usually in the first second or two of the cut scene.
Expect the .dat file to reach 20+GB (mine is 20.4 GB).
Hope to see you in game soon.
~snip~
If you really want your character to stand out, you need to stop and think about the ENTIRE look. Skin/fur/leaves. Hair. Clothes. Weapons. They ALL need to work together if you really want to catch people’s attention. Otherwise, you’re just slapping shiny bits on because they’re shiny.
This player knows what they’re talking about.
~thumbs up~
Pics or it didn’t happ….oh.
Random Citizen in Divinity’s Reach:
“Ran into an Asura, called me a “bookah.” I think she was hitting on me."
Bwhahaa!
(edited by Endless Soul.5178)
Well, in the 80-90 days I’ve been playing (started at this end of March?) I’ve purchased:
Next paycheck I’ll be getting the Copper Fed thingy, and future purchases will be a bank slot, and Season 2 Eprisodes.
From GW1, I would love a Gwen-chan plush.
Heck, I’ve been hooked to the franchise for 10 years now. Sure, I play other games too, but I always come back to Tyria.
They must be doing something right.
Everything I didn’t already have, which isn’t a lot, and then maybe donate a bunch of it to my guild.
Hmm, made it about two weeks without a mounts thread. That should be a record!
When you start working on a jumping puzzle, there will be no other players around. When you reach the top, or sometimes even when you’re only halfway up, suddenly 5 other players have appeared to work on the same vista.
Just an interesting observation.
I bought enough to get a complete set of Mad Scientist’s harvesting equipment, and when next payday rolls around I’ll be getting the Copper Fed Salvage thingy, and then I’ll be thinking about slots and Season 2 stuff after that.
Zerina wearing a mish-mash of stuff.
As an Asuran, I would not buy.
Mini Pact Airship. You don’t have to feed it, it doesn’t make a sound, no repetitive animations, it just silently glides along.
~a random Charr Hunter appears through the portal at Camp Resolve carrying a keg~
Vigil Warmaster Wylliam: “Just what do you think you’re doing with that keg, soldier?”
Hunter: “Carrying it?”
Vigil Warmaster Wylliam: (sigh) "I meant, what is your intent?’
Hunter: “We were…intending, uh, to raise a mug in your honor, sir”
Vigil Warmaster Wylliam: “Right. You can just put that back wherever it came from.”
Hunter: “I – yes sir.”
~The Charr Hunter hurries back through the portal~
I admit that it took me a while to figure out that pixie dust shimmer sound was actually my Raven Mail Carrier. I thought Ravens made a “caw” sound.
