Your skin will wrinkle and your youth will fade, but your soul is endless.
Interesting that you posted that because I’ve been listening to the Guild Wars Anthology all week.
Happy birthday Guild Wars, and thanks for 10 years of great entertainment.
OP you should bring all your friends and get them into WvW as well.
I’ll do my best, but to be honest, my friends list is pretty empty.
Newer
peoplevictims are needed.
Admit it, this is what you really meant, right? Right?
You need proper gear, skills and join your servers TS.
Builds here: metabattle.com
Thanks for that.
What’s your hurry?
I’ve been pondering this very topic for a couple of days now, but instead of writing a thousand words about it, I decided to devise a very simple image to illustrate precisely and without question how I feel about GW2’s development, particularly over the past year. I hope you all enjoy it.
Nice. Too bad most people under 30 won’t get that reference.
Less options is good right? That’s what we want right?
~doesn’t want to get wished to the cornfield~
If that were to happen, do you know how many female characters wold be running around shirtless? ~counts on fingers, then toes~ Well….a LOT.
I’m not necessarily opposed to that (I’m a guy after all), but I’m just putting that out there.
It’s possible I guess. I think I was too busy saying “Oh kitten!” to notice.
… and it was madness. Pure, unadulterated, crazy, madness.
It was nuts…..and it was a ton of fun.
Even though I just got t level 80, I don’t think I was properly prepared for this as I certainly don’t have any high end traits yet (are any needed?) and I’m pretty sure my weapons and armor are not the best for this.
I pretty much just followed the zerg around and did the best I could and rezzed others when and where I could. I did get killed a couple times, especially when a red horde just spawned out of the ground (how are they doing that?), and there were a couple times when I found myself alone. Talk about paranoia!
Good times, I’ll probably try it again soon.
My first level 80, ready for action!
They had that in Guild Wars 1. For reasons unknown they didn’t bring it over to Guild Wars 2.
A tiny, deadly duo.
I made my female Asura mesmer as short as possible and with the thinnest build.
This is exactly what I did with my Asura. I made her as tiny as possible. I get a kick out of some much death and destruction coming out of such a small body.
I’ve been playing Guild Wars 1 just about every day since I re-discovered it back in November, and I’ll be there again when I get off of work in a little over an hour.
I don’t know about previously, but I can tell you that starting today, a LOT of players are back in Guild Wars 1 for the 10th anniversary celebrations. I’ll be there myself after I get home from work.
I tried playing a Necromancer in Guild Wars 1, but for whatever reason I just couldn’t get the hang of it, and I always went back to my Domination Mesmer. (I couldn’t get the hang of the Monk profession either)
When I got here back in March, I wanted something different so I went with an Asuran Necromancer. I’ll probably create another character in a different profession later, but so far I’m loving my tiny goth creature of death, but I can’t really put my finger on why I like it so much.
I finally got her to level 80 yesterday.
Just remember, no matter how good you are, no matter what food and potions you bring – if you’re pugging with a necro, expect to not be welcome. I’ve heard that on NA servers things are a bit better, but when I’m trying to pug with my necro on EU I get kicked a lot. Even if you bring more to your party in terms of both support and DPS than the hordes of bad warriors, elementalists and other meta classes, you will still be unwanted purely because you’re a necro.
It shouldn’t have to be this way, but I’ve come to terms with that and I’m ok with it. I’m prepared to solo as much as I can and avoid places where I can’t until I can level another character (if I so choose). The advice in this thread will help out a lot and I thank you for that.
~looks at empty mailbox~
I don’t get any mail. Ever.
Just saw a Charr player named Bobcat Marley.
As a still new-ish player, I have nothing to compare against my time leveling now.
~shrugs~
So Guild Wars 2 is an undead game thanks to necromancy?
As I read through this thread, my hope for humanity swells.
Speaking of which, where’s MY coffee?
Did my part and filled it out. Wasn’t too hard as I currently only have one character. I like the survey results at the end.
Add another vote for Cantha!
Yeah I tried over at Guild Wars 1, but lags, lags and even more lags made me go do something else. It’s a good party over there though.
And yeah underwater combat won’t really be much of a thing until we join the quaggans in a few years to battle the deep sea dragon
Say it ain’t so
Zod help us all….
Just showing some numbers for the item on the table inside the House of Caithe instance.
Ok I definitely see it but it was someone younger. Like mid-20s age. Maybe I’ll just remember later.
well, let´s take out of the equation that Anet at some point apparently confirmed the inspiration for the character… you know, an actress you see today would have been younger in 1986. Just saying.
yea cept ive never seen that actress or heard of her before. jennifer lawrence is more along the lines i think i was thinking of?
I can understand that. Darryl Hannah hasn’t done much lately so she’s really only remember by us older folks. The stuff she HAS done back in the day is very memorable to us older folks (Blade Runner, Splash, Clan of the Cave Bear, etc.).
<thread necro>
Is obtaining a Gem Card in actual stores still a problem? I saw online that my local Best Buy has them marked as “available” in my town, but when I went there to get a card tonight, there was shelf space and price tags for both the $15 and $25 cards, but the space was actually taken up by other game cards. No Guild Wars 2 Gem Cards to be found.
I’ll never understand why they didn’t bring the build template feature over from Guild Wars 1.
On a related note, I’ve been seeing a LOT of necromancers in PvE. I’ve only been playing about a month so I don’t know if this is a growing trend or it has always been this way.
I thought I heard that somewhere.
I’m glad you’re interested in Guild Wars 1, but just so you’re aware, it’s a completely different game than Guild Wars 2.
Be prepared.
Eh, mounts will just make you fat from lack of exercise.
No. The answer is no.
New-ish player myself (one month) and I’m really loving this game.
Who run Barter Town?
I’m glad someone got it.
Master Blaster.
I don’t miss it as I still play it 5-6 times a week.
Speaking of that, are there any plans for any GW1 celebrations?
Nobody seems to know. It would be nice to get something after all these years, but I’m not holding out much hope.
Thanks for the clarification. I sometimes still think in Guild Wars 1 terms (kinda hard to shake 10 years of conditioning), even though I’m well aware that these are two completely different games.
I can’t believe my oldest character will be 10 years old soon.
~wave of nostalgia~
Play what you want. Don’t play what others want you to play.
We are all kind of waiting for HoT to improve the class in PvE. Over 2 years of being a selfish and undesirable class in PvE is pretty frustrating.
What is so selfish about that class?
From what I understand as a new-ish player myself, Necromancers do not have the ability, or only have a weak ability, to heal others. We can only heal ourselves. Therefore, we’re refereed to as a selfish class.
In Guild Wars 1 I do have a Necromancer, but I never played her much. I mainly played a Mesmer over there.
In this game I chose an Asuran Necromancer here because I wanted something different. So far I’m greatly enjoying my little goth.
If they suddenly decided you need a subscription to play gw2 I would quit and never look back. That day.
Yep, and I’d be right behind you.
I’d probably go back to Guild Wars 1, unless that went subscription based as well, then I’d drop the entire franchise.
I just invested in a Thermaltake 750W power supply. My new pc should be built soon.
Even with sound, my friends list would be silent.
~looks at empty friend list and sighs~
I’m doing it right now. My Necromancer is currently my ONLY character.
