It’s a gold sink. They want to keep the economy flowing and having to drop a ton of karma/gold on a cultural weapon for each character keeps it from saving up huge amounts.
ANet has been actively attempting to curb farming. A feature like this would literally have people jumping from world boss to world boss. Which they already do, but this would literally be them saying it’s ok.
What way would you have us gain Magic Find, though?
Were it up to me, I’d actually go an entirely different route with it.
When I look at all the various attributes, Magic Find strikes me as being an odd duck. The reason for that is at the root of the problem some people are having with it. It may, as you say, have no real game-changing impact in team play. But the theme of it is still introverted, which leads to the whole ’it’s selfish!’ criticism.
Really, when compared against other attributes, it is singularly selfish or, perhaps more accurately, self-focused. Conceptually, it just doesn’t fit with the rest.
So, I’d take it out of the bunch. It shouldn’t be directly competing with the types of things it’s competing with, because it’s a different style of perk altogether.
(ETC)
Thank you thank you thank you thank you.
An actual SUGGESTION other than “I don’t understand it, I don’t like it, make it go away because I -think- it makes things worse!”
Please make your own thread with this if you could, since it’s buried beneath a pile of rubbish at this point and this would actually be a good solution rather than people knee jerking because they can’t do dungeons properly and enjoy saying it’s a gear type’s fault.
As for all you naysayers who say that you can’t do X or Y with magic find, well guess what? All of my armor is magic find. Why? Cause that’s what I could afford to make at the time and I haven’t changed out yet. Exotics are expensive to make and I have other things I want to do.
I have YET to have a dungeon where A) I’m not doing equal damage to everyone else or that we haven’t finished solely because of me (heck, the only dungeon I haven’t finished is due to 1 person leaving causing everyone else to leave).
The only issue I have ever found in MF gear is the Charr Burning Dungeon path where you have to defend the NPC from the sheer zerg of silver mobs. And guess what? Anyone, and I mean ANYONE, who is not specced completely correctly for that battle has trouble with it to. That means toughness/vit or some sort of group knockback or something similar. So ya, the one problem area I have? Everyone else does.
I don’t die any faster than any other classes with a glass cannon build and I don’t die compared to the people who are also in non-vit/non-toughness armor. Everyone else dies in one or two hits just the same as me who are in the same HP class.
Would me wearing other armor make me a bit better? Probably. But only by a slight margin and I doubt it would be even noticeable. It definitely wouldn’t make me survive the things that kill me easier unless I mix and matched gear. Which I should probably eventually get to but it hasn’t stopped me now.
In fact, a friend of mine who is Toughness/Vit gets downed more than I do. Le GASP.
In this game, using your skills to properly position yourself and the enemies is 1000% more important than gear. If I’m a ranger who is specced to do a lo of damage but also has the trait that allows me to share active sigil effects with my pet, then guess what? If someone is downed and I have it up, I use those 6 seconds to get them up and then roll away. If someone is charging at me, I dodge and run them a bit while attacking.
In dungeons, someone’s gear is not what gets you killed. Someone standing around getting wailed on and not dodging or attemping the Tank/DPS/Healer trifecta, etc, is what causes a party wipe.
Stats matter, but skills, traits and using them correctly matter infinitely more.
Especially when you’re in a group of 5 so a 10% increase in stats only accounts for a 2% increase to the overall ability of the group.
Engineers have the same issue with most all weapons and kits outside of Grenade and flamethrower.
So, if I’m correct, is this the one that requires you to have cultural armor? If so, are the sets on the same character? I’m assuming not if you have 2 tier three sets.
Just from looking at it, it looks like you need Tier 1, 2 and 3 on the same character. The easy way to test this, however, is to buy a piece of Tier 1 armor and see if it updates your total to 13. Thankfully you have 3 and 2 completed, as those are the most expensive.
Also there seems to be an issue with attempting to transmute damaged or broken items as well.
I’m sure that this is true, however just giving the name, such as rubber band dodging, doesn’t help Anet in any way shape or form. You need to give them more information on the bug, what it does, how it activates, etc.
This is not just you. There is another similar thread about this. However it’s not happening to everyone. If you could, what server was this on and were there any similarities to the crash time/situation? Party makeup?
Except there is an issue there.
Transmutation stones are used as a very obvious and direct way to take items out of the market. By having systems like that, which destroy items, you are continuously creating the need to create/find more of them.
By removing that, you remove a major part of the gold sink in this game.
Just stating why the stones destroying items is most likely done.
Oh. Well then fair, the thing needs to be tweaked a bit then, you’re probably right.
That or someone possibly reported you for spamming? I dunno.
Anyway, if it’s as sensitive as you say it is, does need to get tweaked then, I agree.

Like I said, your suggestion was great, the tone was just not exactly the most welcoming if a dev looked over this. People are fallible and if we see something that is percieved as an attack, we’re less likely to take it seriously.
But anyway, I agree. A daily reset might not be the worst idea while they’re still ironing these out.
Did you change your email address from GW1 to GW2?
I did and I found that all I had to do was log back on to GW1 and remind it that, in fact, the new email was the right one and it let me get my HoM rewards. So try logging in to GW1 and see if that works.
Possibly change it around so that they aren’t only a little different from one another.
LFG 1M AC vs Hey, need 1 more for Ascalon Catacombs vs Have 4 ready, we just need one more for AC, etc?
Or were they actually that different?
Honestly, given other games, the lack of constant gold seller spam is worth having to think of different ways to phrase things to me.
Nope. There are a few topics around asking about this and the answer is pretty much a big no.
They’ve mentioned account rollbacks will be implemented eventually, but I don’t even think that will allow you to restore them.
Sorry. :/

I know I was able to do it when I purchased GW2 cause my old GW1 email account was dead, however I -do- believe if you want to submit a ticket, they can manually do it. But it’ll take a while as far as I can tell and you might need some information verifying that it is your account, etc.
So ya, submitting a ticket is your best bet.
Awesome. If anyone else is having this bug, this kind of information is pretty much gold as well. Didn’t mean to drill you, it’s just “Boss causes crash” is a lot less helpful than giving more in depth details.
Hopefully this will help the devs figure out what’s going on faster for you.!
You’ll definitely need a LOT more information in this topic for it to be of any use whatsoever.
What doesn’t work? Do you always not get XP? XP from what? Monsters? Events? Anything?
As for lag spikes, that’s a completely different issue that’s really complicated and could be on either side of the game, so let’s work on the vague ‘things not working’ and ‘not getting exp’ part first.
Also, I’d highly suggest submitting a report to Anet if you are, in fact, not getting exp for anything you do.

Change your account password as well as your email password and make sure the two are different. Make sure your passwords are unique to GW2.
If you do that, there is little to no way they can get in to your account unless they are physically on your computer due to their authorization system.
Unless you get a keylogger. But that is it’s own can of worms. So I’d also suggest to do a sweep of your computer, ESPECIALLY if you can honestly say that you’ve never used that password anywhere before.

They’ve stated in the past that there is no way currently they can do account roll backs or item returns. They’ve also stated that account roll backs, when implemented, will most likely not be done lightly.
So, sorry, you’re kinda SOL on this one.

So uh, not to invalidate your complaint, because it is valid, the SPs ARE broken, but have you read the patch notes?
The ones where they’ve stated multiple times that they’re trying to fix the SPs?
Ya, they’re still broken, ya it sucks, but your first paragraph is unnecessarily inflammatory towards the devs and programmers. They’re trying. You might not think they’re trying hard enough, but I mean, yay complex game system with hundreds of thousands of variables (aka players) messing with your ability to predict things?
Decent idea, but it’s been posed before and also in much nicer ways in the past.
What makes you think the DR system was added in last patch? People have been whining about DR since the game started. They might have tweaked it in response to various factors, however the DR has always been there.
People were able to get legendaries because some worked in groups, others just plain ol’ grinded them up, and some are just -very- good at playing the economy. There was a LOT of gold to be made in the early stages of the game’s economy, so by storing up then, a lot of the grind can be circumvented by simply buying the stuff that’s the hardest.
If you’ll notice, of the many people who play GW2 (hundreds of thousands), there are only a handful of legendaries. We’re talking 10 to 100 in existence. 100 is VERY generous given the reports lately have only been about maybe half a dozen. That’s a very -very- small amount of the population.
The answer, at least from a lot of sensationalists (as far as they can be trusted) is that a) DR is account bound, so that if you farm like hell on one character, the DR will be on the alt (whether or not it’s JUST for that area is unconfirmed), and that b) since it is account bound, simply turning off your game or logging out or switching areas does not reset the DR.
Keep in mind this is speculation taken from other threads that really needs to be taken with a shaker full of salt.
Every guild has a different version of it on each server. If all players of a guild move to a new server, they start building up reputation for that guild on -that- server, thus you have to rebuy every single upgrade. If you jump back to the old server, the settings should be the same as when you left.
I’d still suggest bug reporting it if the movie isn’t playing correctly.
Nope, they’re yellow stats unfortunately.
DR is account bound. It has pretty much been confirmed at this point, at least according to most of the people who have experienced it. I’d take it with a grain of salt mind you, as ANet hasn’t actually given much info on it quite yet.
If you want to farm things, then it’s best to break it up between other activities or take a break between farming clusters.
This change most likely came from people farming on one character, switching to an alt and then farming the same place with the alt.
I’m not sure if changing areas resets DR though cause it seems that lately people have been reporting it hasn’t. So, if you are hitting DR, running a dungeon or something might be a decent idea or go working on some world completion.
Anyway, another thing to keep in mind exphryl is that there are other ways of getting tier 6 materials, such as through the mystic clover recipe. If you want to do it without hitting the TP that’s fine, however I don’t believe the game was designed with that in mind so you’ll have to really be patient.
Also Blazin, the snide remark towards ANet wasn’t really needed. Let’s avoid things that start attacks, flames, etc.
(edited by EndlessDreamer.6780)
Okay, so it only occurs once the battle starts? I know it’s a pain in the kitten to remember, but was there any specific pattern you were following? Were both mobs down when you did it? Was the other NPC that she was supposed to kill?
And it might. You see, bugs don’t just happen. They are usually triggered by something, like faulty code. -Any- detail you can give can be helpful in them figuring out what was going on.
Was there a commonality in this party as to makeup? Like a certain class that was in the party every time? It might have to do with a skill clashing badly with one of her’s. Was she using any particular skill at the time, like her chaos armor or retaliation? I’m sure if it was that, however, you’d be seeing a lot more about this but I’m attempting to rule out various things.
endgame haha, All the “End Game” chasers will be gone in a month or so. =P
A month? Didn’t they all just head back to pandaville?
Its because of the massive amount of karma/gold needed to obtain them, and the fact that there is an invisible wall in the way to prevent getting the needed karma/gold in the form of the diminishing returns code.
You’re complaining that legendaries, which are supposed to be hard to make, are hard to make? That they take time?
There is no invisible wall. It’s more just a slope that people need to trek up slowly. If they want to try and run up it they’ll trip, fall and slide all the way back down. Bringing DR in to it, a mechanism so that people can’t power through content like that, is a moot point.
It’s there, the creation of legendaries (ingredient wise) was made with that in mind, they have an idea of how long it should take to make a legendary. If you don’t want to spend that time, don’t.
But don’t say something that’s supposed to be a pinnacle achievement is too difficult when it’s supposed to be that way.
World Exploration
Getting Crafting disciplines up to 400
Finishing Achievements
Running Dungeons
Creating New Gear Combinations
Trying New Characters
Doing WvWvW
Those are all endgame too, correct?
Okay, so, I’m going to go out on a limb and say first off:
You need more description. When does this happen? When you see her NPC model? When she begins her interaction with the other NPC? Does it consistantly happen when you hit a certain point? Randomly in the middle of the battle? When she uses a certain skill?
It affects your entire group, correct? Was it the same group both times or just random pugs?
The more details you give, the more they can actually iron out what’s going on. Saying that a boss crashes your game is like saying that eating something made you sick. Not enough details and people can’t tell if it’s just that food, from that restaurant, if it’s an allergy, etc.
Could you give more information as to which ports specifically are needed?
True. Hadn’t thought about the guild thing or that correlation. My bad. XD
I thought this was supposed to be how they wanted it to work anyway?
Like, seriously, when it’s not broken, I think this is -exactly- the system they were trying to implement but got bugged to holy hell and back.
Huh. I like this idea honestly. Some sort of game wide voucher. This would also make it so that if you -reallllly- wanted a dungeon armor but -reaaaalllllly- hated running it, you could eventually get it after a long time.
Maybe use it to buy consumables as well?
A lot of people on these forums don’t seem to realize that cosmetic appearance is not always so intrinsically tied to gameplay mechanics. There are and have been other MMOs that don’t bind them together at all. In fact, GW2 seems to be about midway on the spectrum, offering more flexibility than some, but not as much as others.
So the “this is just the way it’s done because it doesn’t work any other way” style responses just aren’t accurate.
I would like to see GW2 make much greater use of skins. There really isn’t any strong reason to keep appearance locked by class, not even in PvP (though I can understand a preference to keep it in PvP). The appearance of one’s armor is already decoupled from its game attributes. I’d like to see ANet run with that.
Weapons are another matter. The game, as designed, doesn’t leave much room for flexibility there and, given PvP considerations, it probably never should.
But giving players more control, flexibility and options in tailoring their character’s image signature is never a bad thing. I say open up all class armors to everyone. It really wouldn’t hurt anything.
Would also give people a reason to dabble in other crafting professions.
As an incentive to have players stick around for an entire event chain, how about escalating rewards?
in Suggestions
Posted by: EndlessDreamer.6780
I do like this idea. Maybe a +5% for every other event in the chain you’ve completed karma wise? Makes it so that the harder end events to chains are actually worth more than the ~350 karma, etc.
From what I can understand, a lot of the Guild Wars 2 content is supposed to be centered around finding a group, especially within dungeons, and developing a rapport with that group. Well, possibly, not immediately since there are bigger things to do, you can plan on a partner system? It’s in a lot of other games where they call it blood bonds or lovers or whatever, but just simply, it’s another player (or group of players) that you get a bonus for when you’re playing with them.
Hopefully without the romantic or sexual connotations, cause that makes people uneasy.
Maybe have it so that 1 – 4 other players can share this and that you can only have one set of. So no having it with 5 different groups of 4 people. Potentially a list of bonuses that you can choose one from depending on what you want out of it and maybe be able to switch it up, I don’t know. Just something that rewards you for finding a good group and sticking with it.
I wouldn’t want this to be game breaking or make it so that you –need- to play with them to be effective, but it would be a nice bonus for people who do play with others semi-regularly.
I shirk from the idea of a marriage system cause that’s limiting both in terms of lore and in terms of people’s comfort. This could be something similar in idea, but potentially different name.
Now what if someone leaves or there is a fight or if you move to a different server? Allow someone to break it (or break from it in the case of more than one person in it) but, say, wait a week or a month before they can make another or something.
I dunno, again, I’m not looking for something game breaking or that would make it necessary to make this to do basic content like a dungeon. However it would be a nifty incentive away from PUGs.
Or just have it so that you can transmute the appearance of heavy on to your light armor. No stat change, no imbalances, no worries, no need to add in another system.
Problem solved?
They’re actually aboutish equal kinda depending on your pet type.
Sick ’Em gives 30% damage increase for 15 seconds per 60 sec, Signet of the Hunt gives 300% damage increase for two attacks per 60 sec.
If your pet can do 10 attacks in 15 seconds, then they’re equal. If it can do more (like some birds), then it’s superior. If they can’t, Hunt is superior.
So, if you have a bulky, slow attacker, then Hunt kicks butt. If you have a quicker attacker, Sick ’Em is preferable.
It’s a small cave. You have to go north of where the words are on the map I believe.

I’d like to point out that the representatives of this game have pretty much said, with complete and utter vehemancy, that you should -not- do this kind of thing. You go to the various 5+ day threads about tickets and you discuss it there to get tickets looked at.
Period. End of story.
Posting here achieves 0, and I mean absolutely 0 things for you. There is no point. It won’t get you looked at faster and if anything, you have partially compromised the safety of your son’s account further by posting how man letters it is as well as the beginning and ending letters and numbers of his account.
Also, without a ticket number, they have no idea what ticket this is, what issues you have done before and other various information.
So, you pretty much have wasted your time and their time by posting this.
Cheers.
Okay, look at the bottom of my post and there are three little icons. One is an arrow. Click that and viola.
It’s whenever you use any kind of skill. This includes auto-attacks, revives, etc. A friend of mine has tested this out and once it procced on him reviving me. Was kind of funny.
It does heal you, but for much less than lifesteal. It’s kind of a trade off.
The scaling makes you quite a bit stronger than someone who is in on-level gear, especially at the lower levels.
At 80, back in level 10 zones, I can solo a champion that turned me in to dust at proper level 10. The scaling only catches up in level 60 zones where it’s about on par but a little easier, then at around 70 it’s almost impossible to tell the difference from 80.
I can do some testing in to the mechanics if you’d like me to though.
They help a lot with jumping puzzles.

There is an easy fix to this.
Do one match. Grab all you can that you have. Wait until next match begins. Grab as many as you can when your zone switches locations. Rinse and repeat until you have everything.
It’s what I did and I have all the WvW zones.
