Again, I completed the entire chain before they did the fixes. Didn’t get anything that everyone else didn’t get who completed it.
Join a guild and all of those problems go away. Play with other people, make friends and go out of your way to make groups that will do the content with you. There are other people like you, you just need to reach out to them instead of expecting them to just come to you.
No there was no reward that was a back piece. The rewards for those quests were a jug of karma and commander’s commendations.
This should go in to the game bugs section. Sounds like a definite bug!
What’s more needed here is your support ticket number.
Most likely your name was reported and thus you have to rename your character?
I do believe they do that once the person who owns the account has regained control of it. They just need to petition it.
They currently have not implemented guesting, so not yet. And once they do, I honestly don’t know if it’ll let you cross the ocean server boundaries.
It makes a huge difference. Yesterday, I was in overflow doing the Lost Shores Phase 3 event, and at 2 hour 50 minute mark, we were still struggling at “Reinforcement phase 2”. Other servers are already done at 2 hour15 minute mark. We were late by about an hour. And mind you, we had as many people, if not more, than those other servers. I found out because I got disconnected, and ended up somewhere else.
Gears make a big difference.
So you knew the gear that everyone else had? And you’re sure it was better than yours? Cause that sounds like pretty baseless speculation. Just because a group finished faster doesn’t mean they had better gear. There are hundreds of potential reasons why they finished faster. You just covered a single one.
I’m not saying that a server full of people in full ascended won’t totally beat a server full of greens time wise. But… I don’t know of any server that is so much greater than others in such a way.
Also, given that both servers finished? Then even if the all green server managed to finish half an hour later, they still finished, which means they were still capable in their not ascended armor of finishing it. That is a HUGE difference in other games where unless you’re in top tier, you’re gonna bomb.
Yup, all chests reset after around 24 hours at most I believe. I don’t know the actual timing unfortunately.
So you just want the minimum that can run the game? What is your price range when you say cheap?
I think the major issue with the reinforcements were that the little veteran buggers just had far too much HP. They already hit like trains and then it took longer to take them down than a Veteran Adult Karka of the same level? Eh, I feel as though it would have been better if they had a little less HP.
I think that was just my major issue. Level 84 Veteran Young Karkas were just too tough and were responsible for about an hour to an hour and a half of the fighting.
It will always be about that. Unless all armor and all weapons were exactly the same, there will always be some people who will be looking only for the best because they seem to think that will get them the best results.
And then as soon as all gear and weapons are equal, they’ll only want people who have run it X amount of times. Or who can run it under X amount of time. And they’ll add in more and more requirements.
We can’t blame the addition of Ascended items for this phenomena. It happened when there were only exotics and it would happen if all armor and weapons were equal. People like to think that they can be part of the best of the best. And they will actively seek it.
And there is nothing wrong with it as long as it isn’t predominant in the population.
Which it isn’t.
If you don’t like the mindset, ignore their looking for group stuff. I’ve been in dozens of pugs where no one was like that, so they’re out there. I’ll just keep running dungeons with my guildies who are decked out in greens and having a blast while doing it.
Did you by any chance change the email associated with the two? If so, Try logging in to your GW1 account. If not, I’m stumped and I’d put in a support ticket.
I have found parts of the game I dislike. I have found parts of the game that I love. Most people I’ve talked to have felt the same or they just stopped logging in. My guild is 350+ strong and we still have a strong representation, most of which were really happy with what’s going on, a few disappointed, but no one outright saying they were going to quit.
Forum whiners are kind of a catch 22. They say they are going to quit or have quit, but by posting on the forums they are still participating in the game. And it happens all the time.
I know. I’m just saying that given the size of the company, they might not even have to lawyer. They might just call up the company, tell them to investigate, and if the credit card company finds that you fraudulently did a charge back… well say good bye to a good chunk of your credit score. And potentially your business with them. It’s not a good idea, just don’t do it.
Also read up on American fraud law. Dictionary definition =/= legal definition. You might get away with false advertising charges, which is a much lower thing, but not fraud. Fraud requires intent, more intent and even more intent on top of that. And you have to prove that intent, which is a pain in the butt.
I mean, reading american law anyway is fun in the first place. :P
Anyway, bottom line, get what you can legally from their agreement back if you’re leaving. Try a charge back at your own risk, but keep in mind that it’s a dangerous and technically illegal move except in very certain situations.
(edited by EndlessDreamer.6780)
Except they didn’t. Your interpretation of their advertisements might not have been 100% spot on and you might not be 100% pleased with their interpretations, but they have not outright lied about anything. That argument wouldn’t hold water in any court.
And no, ANet doesn’t have the time to take people to court over it, I know that, but that doesn’t change the fact that doing a chargeback for everything is still fraud.
(edited by EndlessDreamer.6780)
That’s not a refund. That’s stealing.
You have paid for a game, played it for longer than the period in which you can refund it and then are telling your CC company to take the money back after the time period WHICH YOU AGREED TO BE ABLE TO, breaking the ToS.
I’m sure you don’t care, but that’s not ‘getting a refund’. That is fraud, plain and simple.
This is what you’re entititled to when you close your accout:
(b) Discretionary Account Termination – You may notify NCsoft that You wish to terminate an Account by notifying the Notice Contact of Your desire to do so. Any such request must be made to the Notice Contact and include Your name and contact information. NCsoft may also, in its sole and absolute discretion, provide other means by which You may choose to so notify NCsoft. Whether or not You wish to terminate an Account, NCsoft may at any time or for any reason, both of which shall be conclusively determined in the sole and absolute discretion of NCsoft, modify or delete Your Account as well as any other Account, NCsoft Message Board ID, Character ID, Team, and/or characteristics related to a Character ID. Unless NCsoft terminates due to breach of this agreement by You, You will be entitled to a refund for any unused purchased Gems that cannot be used and/or spent as a result of the termination by sending a refund request to the Notice Contact.
Doing a chargeback for everything? That’s plain Credit card fraud.
(edited by EndlessDreamer.6780)
… As far as I can tell, the window for refunds is one month. Pretty sure it’s in the TOS. So… patpatpat
Yup, I was right.
(d) Refund Request – If You do not accept the provisions of this agreement, You may request a refund for the Software, if you were required to pay for it and if it was purchased from NCsoft, within thirty (30) days of either the date on Your receipt or the date You created a Game Account, whichever is earlier. If the Software was purchased from a third party, You should request a refund from that third party. Such refund may be subject to that third party’s refund policies. If You purchased the Software from NCsoft and would like to issue a refund request from NCsoft, such a request must be made to the Notice Contact and include Your name, address, contact information, a copy of Your receipt, any applicable serial code number / access key, and a reason for the refund request. After clicking “I ACCEPT” below, You may not request a refund for the Software except where You are entitled to a refund in accordance with Your statutory rights under applicable law or where the provisions of this agreement allows You to request a refund.
Toon available after the Free Trial period?

Your account won’t be going anywhere. It is there, just inactive. So your toon should be waiting there. It’ll probably be like the beta-accounts. They’re in limbo but not gone and they don’t disappear if not registered immediately.
Using creditcard for different account

I don’t think that it should matter what credit card you buy it with. Now purchasing gems later on, I can’t say about, but you should be fine just buying the game.
1) It’s the anti spamming code. It sometimes is finicky, but lately it’s been better. However next time just avoid typing in the same message over and over. This should go away after a bit.
2) You don’t log in for a support ticket. You go to the ask a question section and submit the form there with your email attached and that will give you your ticket. Hope that helps.
I just want to make this clear: Did you already open a support ticket and they told you they can’t help due to the lack of serial number? Or are you jut assuming that? I just want to make sure so they can answer your question properly.
Potentially remake the character if the name is not taken?
Send in a support ticket and use the gem store subject.

They should be able to get you your items.
Just as with every other person, if every time someone thought an update nerfed drops, no one would be getting anything.
I’m sorry you had some bad luck. I’m also sorry that that’s all it takes for you to decide a game isn’t worth it.
Soki, the thing is, the OP couldn’t have known the person was in MF gear or not unless he asked. So people are saying don’t blame MF when MF might not have been the reason.
It is general safety and probably the best they can do due to the fact that they can’t individually go through the records and see who has or hasn’t changed their passwords before they implemented tracking of it. It’s really not feasible time wise and I’m not even sure if they have records of that.
I bought a chest. They do not require a key to open. Hope this helps!
Just quoting one of the ANet officials before my own personal response.
We know that this is a topic that’s going to be heavily discussed, and we definitely want as much of your feedback as possible, both positive and negative (so long as it remains constructive and within the guidelines of the rules of conduct). However I would just like to point out that this:
“…fact that it’s the highest concurrence time…”
is contradictory to this:
“why not choose a time where there’s a higher chance for people to choose to attend?”
The reason we chose the times that we did, when concurrency is at its peak, is precisely because it offers us the highest chance for the largest number of people to attend. By definition though, because concurrency rises and falls, that means it’s impossible for us to choose a time that offers us a chance for everyone to attend.
Offering events like this at multiple times for different time zones is certainly worth considering, but given our team’s goals and the timeline we had to operate in (we fielded our team immediately after shipping the Live game), it just wasn’t feasible for us to consider such an option for this particular event.
Having said that, this decision is something that we realized would not make everyone happy. Keep in mind that there is a tremendous lineup of content to choose from during the weekend and after, with both the island and the Fractals dungeon remaining active, and we will continue to listen to both criticisms and compliments about these special events in order to continually improve your playing experience.
Just posting what has already been posted before.
However, you bring up a very good idea and I do hope they read it. By increasing the time period (even if the time period is a week, heck five days instead of three, instead of a month) they increase their range of people able to come to an event. Good suggestion.
They are doing it for safety concerns. It’s unfortunate that it’s an inconvenience to you, but this inconvenience will most likely end up with quite a few accounts not being compromised in the future that would be had they been allowed to keep their passwords.
I had to do the same thing and am using a password that I can barely input correctly half of the time because I’m not used to it. However, again, inconveniencing us slightly will save a lot of trouble in the future, so it’s a risk versus reward thing for them. And I feel like the reward for the entire game is disproportionately higher than minor annoyance suffered by some customers.
But, on the bright side, means both of us have an almost nil chance of getting hacked via released passwords at least.
Cannot redeem HoM rewards from gw1 account

Did you change your email address associated with your GW1 game when you made your GW2 account? If so, trying logging on to GW1 again with the new info and see if that clears up your issue. That seems to be the majority of the issue for most people who’s linked games aren’t recognizing one another.
If you send in a support ticket, they can most likely fix this if it was an actual problem. Yes, I know you’ve most likely had to deal with support tickets already, but if you really want it to be fixed, you have to keep at it.
If you want someone to review it and see if it was a mistake, posting your support ticket number here would be wise as it allows Gaile to take a look at what was going on and double check what happened.
I hope this helps you come to a conclusion.

Yup. Big two words are “We’ll see”.
They have a good track record so far, so I’m not gonna waste my energy assuming it’ll go badly.
Lol sorry to dissapoint you kid, i had the Spear for 1 week now and i just whispered toyou. Are you from RUIN or just another bigmouth fella?
Considering he was the first to report it, he gets the credit. I -really- hate to use the internet phrase, but “Pics or it didn’t happen”
Unless you’ve reported it. If then, he loses his little newfound bit of glory, but if not? Shark week is his. :P
@Osprey
Really? Cause the post I read pretty much stated “Hey, we’re not going to be doing the treadmill thing that other games do where each new update provides a new set of armor better than the last that you have to get to even complete any content whatsoever”. They’re implemented a new tier of armor. Once. For going in to the very deepest parts of a dungeon that is completely doable without said armor, just not as far.
When they implement a level above ascended, then start the worry mongering and calling them liars and the treadmill is starting. Cause a single data point does not equal a trend. Until then, chill the heck out and don’t try and rain on someone’s parade who actually likes the update. Not -every- topic has to be about how ascended armor is going to ruin the game.
So, if you aren’t in ascended gear, you can still run Fractals. You just can’t get up to difficulty (insert number). As long as there isn’t some super uber item that you can’t get unless you can go in at difficulty (insert high number) thus requiring ascended armor, it’s not a treadmill.
Plus, the traditional treadmill everyone is worried about is the entire “making all old armor obsolete”. If the previews are anything like the finished product, Fractals is doable in your wimpy blues and greens. :P
But if you read the link that s/he posted afterwards, they seemed completely unaware of this if that is the case. I’m assuming that the bottom limit is set at the lowest in your party and you can’t go lower, which would be interesting.
But then again, we can also wait until the weekend and see which of us is right since we’re both going off of speculation.
They’ve unbanned countless accounts from the time I’ve spent watching these forums. It may take a while, but if it was an actual mistake, they should be able to fix it.
Contact support and put in a ticket. That is the only thing you can do in this situation.
Hacked for the first time in my gaming life
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: EndlessDreamer.6780
Arenanet has made no notifications of their database being compromised. Again, something I posted in another thread about a similar accusation is that if they were hacked, it would be to their benefit to tell us so that we can all change our passwords, saving them hundreds of hours of work getting accounts back up and running.
Could you explain in more detail? The site is working perfectly right now for me.
Have you made purchases in the past? If not, then it might be that you need to call your cc company and ask them to approve GW2 for transactions.
It might be free. You might get it the first time you complete the dungeon.
Ya. The events seems to be lasting throughout the day.
Kinda like the one-time event of the Halloween dungeon.
Because you don’t have a choice. Every time you beat a fractal group, the difficulty raises by 1 and unless you take on a new member each time who is at level 1 difficulty (which would be an AWESOME move by Arenanet to get people to force that), you will continue to rise. Your difficulty is set by the lowest member of the party so you can either:
Mix up your group with potentially mixed results from not knowing group members
or
Go in with a group your familiar with and have a harder time but with people who you know are good.
Around 25-30 runs.
8 or so exotics including the Mad Mask
1 Arachnophobia
That’s all the impressive stuff I’ve gotten.
The acts are independent of individual characters. You can go through the quests for Acts 1 and 2 as you wish, but Act 3 is going to be active whether you did Act 1 or 2. It’s not like a single player game where it waits for a single person.
As for your issue with Act 1, are you sure you’re in the right places and you’re interacting with the “Interesting Space”, which will spawn the ghost?
