Excess HoT mastery points for LS3

I agree with the OP. Dont add more of one thing that the other. Extras are cool but 10 extras for 1 point is a very slippery slope…

This is the problem, added 7 mastery points for a mastery track that requires 1 point, and the required point was even rewarded for completing the mission to get to Bloodstone Fen.

No, the problem is you’re assuming that the 7 mastery points are for a mastery track that requires only 1 point. Do you not see the silliness in that assumption? You seem to be under the impression that there has to be an equal amount of mastery points available as there are masteries to spend them on… what dev ever stated that this was to be the case?

The other 6 are most likely for what many other people have said: more options to get your MPs. I don’t see that as a bad thing. The second most likely is for upcoming additional mastery tracks… also not a bad thing that they can be achieved early. Ymmv.

“why don’t you just make a norn?”
because I’m just not a big fan of the male type figure and the slow walk animation (i am female) and having a man like voice in game makes me feel uncomfortable. Don’t get me wrong I LOVE Norns but i just cant see me playing as one.

Have you considered playing 1st person? Seriously. It adds a bit of extra challenge to the game, and while running around you won’t have the visual feedback that makes you feel you’re running slow.

Then, when you get into zerg-ish fights or are at crowded banks/TP, scroll out to 3rd person if you need.. you may not be moving enough that you’ll notice the slower-appearing movement.

Might be worth a shot?

A Rifle that launches custard pies instead of regular ammo. Each shot plays out a Krusty the Clown style laugh. The custard pies leave a trail of custard in the air and land with a “splat” sound effect. When the weapon is wielded the user will have clown face paint applied and each footstep will make a sound like a whoopee cushion.

I am, of course, not serious. That would be horrific.

True, that’d be horrific… but I’d pay gold to watch a person with that rifle dueling someone wielding the pony bow.

I would quite like to see a set of legendaries released that are made up of trophies from the defeated elder dragons. I don’t mean a full set of weapons, just one token weapon which is thematically or aesthetically appropriate, and based on a body part of those dragons… kind of like carrying around a trophy.

Perhaps Mordremoth’s would be a scepter with a blighting pod on the end and all the visual effects that go along with that. Zhaitan’s could be a staff, the end of which could be a load of waggling dragon heads like the ones in his “mouth”. Maybe Jormag’s is a dagger made out of his tooth. Naturally each weapon comes with the usual visual splendour and effects.

Just don’t ask what part the mace was made out of…. o.O

…snip…12: Warrior-Sword/Shield, …snip…I do not use adrenaline very often on War

Warrior 1-h Sword is a condition weapon. If you were using equipment that doesn’t give condition damage, then this would cause your damage to suffer greatly. Shield is great for the block and the interrupt. But, if you don’t have an aversion to it, consider either off-hand sword, or off-hand mace, or warhorn instead.

Actually, 1-H sword is a strong Hybrid weapon. It’s simply the closest thing to a Condi weapon warriors get, though – But S2 and 3 are both Power attacks, and it has a strong physical damage component to its Auto Attack and non-primal F1. And while off-hand sword F4 does give another condition… it turns into a Power-based attack immediately afterward. Its traitline (Arms) improves its condi potential, and Berzerker makes it more condi-friendly as well, though.

Yeah, I was considering clarifying it for Hybrid, but he hasn’t gotten his toons past 30, and statting for hybrid at lower levels is tricky. Which is why I also didn’t say a lick about Berserker.

Sw3 should never be used until the enemy is under 50% health because the casting time is so slow, so AA is going to be preferred until then anyways (most enemies should be dead by the cooldown, too, so it’ll likely only get one use per enemy). Sw2 is best used for combo-fields and mobility… so that’s also shouldn’t be wasted for just a power attack. With main-hand 1-h sword, the AA bleed is the preferred attack when not using whatever off-hand item you’ve got equipped. At lower levels it remains a condi weapon, and at higher levels it can be either condi or hybrid.

If you’re using off-hand sword in conjunction with higher condi, then you don’t want to use the second chain effect for sw4… you want to keep stacking the torment. The second in the chain is only good if you’re doing hybrid…. and then only after you’ve stacked the torment (which the timing takes practice).

Again, all my advice was directed towards lower level Warrior play. I probably shoulda clarified that.

…snip…12: Warrior-Sword/Shield, …snip…I do not use adrenaline very often on War

Warrior 1-h Sword is a condition weapon (edit: or hybrid as Sartharina clarifies below). If you were using equipment that doesn’t give condition damage, then this would cause your damage to suffer greatly. Shield is great for the block and the interrupt. But, if you don’t have an aversion to it, consider either off-hand sword, or off-hand mace, or warhorn instead.

Off-hand sword will give you a block, but will also give you a second condition to inflict on your foes. Off-hand mace will allow you to interrupt, but it will also let you apply 10 stacks of vulnerability, effectively increasing all your damage by 10%. Warhorn will allow you to confer weakness when you get surrounded or are fighting tougher mobs (and the other skill gives you vigor so you can dodge more often). All 3 of those still give you defense, and the off-hand sword or mace also gives you extra damage.

With the semi-recent changes to the Adrenal Health (AH) trait, there is little reason to not use F1. Slotting AH and using your F1 when it is full will give you A LOT of sustain. If you’re using the 1-h sword, your F1 only needs a single hit in order to get AH. Going into the Defense trait line will serve you very well as your first trait line to go into. Try to get used to using F1 in combination with AH…. it’s VERY worthwhile.

…snip… Guard-Mace(or Sword)/Shield, …snip…

Guardian mace/shield is for slow tanking. This is a useful thing to use if you’re in groups and want to hold aggro while healing. But for general PvE and soloing, it is not ideal.

1-h sword is decent, especially with the recent update… it’s a power weapon, so power should be a trait you focus on while using it. Also for a ranged option consider the scepter (again, if you don’t have an aversion). The scepter gets a bad rep, but in PvE it works pretty well, especially now that it has a might-granting symbol. Combine that with the Zealous Scepter trait, and you can stack on quite a bit of might (especially if you also add on the torch).

For your off-hand consider either the torch or the focus. The torch gives you a lot of rapid hits which is great for things that proc on hit (or crit of you are also using precision). The focus gives you a ton of goodies for offense, defense, and healing, so it will definitely up your game.

I am still have unclear infomations to identify your main problem !!

Read and follow/answer some questions below.

1/ Please go to the link @Sagramor gave you and build exactly the same BUILD youre using *note im not gonna judging your build im try to find the problem so we can fix it

2/ Tell us your gears color (Green/Blue/Yellow/Orange/Pink) with what STATS on it.

3/ What kind of mob did you fight that take you “10 years” ? And Where ?

4/ Are you sure youre not using your lv 30 war to lvl up at the map that actually has higher lv than you ? Because i do main a war recently and he is NOT that weak.

5/ Playstyle mean how did you use your ranger ? Did you use your pet and stay from afar shooting ? Or you usually fight in melee range ? Which one you prefer POWER or CONDITION build ? Weapons that you like to use most of your time fighting ?

6/ Finally – Are you a Free to Play player ? Do you have HoT purchased ?

To add more questions to this:

7/ How much do you move during combat? Not dodges, but actual running around?

8/ Do you click your skills, or you use your own keybinds?

9/ Do you play first-person or third-person?

10/ For your ranger, what pet do you primarily use?

11/ You mentioned your sister plays an elementalist. Has she given you any input, and if so what?

It’s a shame you’ve deleted your lower lvl toons, ’cause knowing what weapons, skills, and especially gear stats/quality/level would have been useful to know, too.

If they did add concentration/expertise, they’d have to lower the overall bonus given to each stat to compensate for balance in stat distribution. There’s no conceivable way they’d tack on concentration/expertise and not lower the other stats, it would make celestial WAY too powerful.

The necessary stat adjustment down would likely mean that no stat would get enough of a bonus to make it worthwhile to have.

I don’t want this change. I’d like my celestial to stay as it is. At the moment I might be a Jack of All Trades Master of None… but the addition of concentration/expertise might turn me into a Deuce of All Trades.

…snip…

Don’t pick professions based on patches or their current state in any concept of ‘meta’ you or someone else has (not that Eros was doing this latter thing specifically, but it was worth throwing in).

That’s chasing the jackalope, and it only will lead you to frustration.

All the professions change over time. Sometimes for the good, sometimes for the bad, most often a mix… but they ALWAYS CHANGE. It’s better to find the profession that meshes with your play style and you find engaging.

Do what others have said and use the 80 to try out all professions with a concept or play style that might interest you. After you’ve tried them, then make the boost permanent on one; there’s no need to rush it.

EphemeralWallaby.7643

OP, I think your problem likely has one of three possible causes.

First: Not Enough Movement. The harder mobs in GW2 require movement while you fight them. Not just dodging at the right time, either. Unfortunately one of GW2’s flaws is that it doesn’t teach this very well. Go to the lower level areas and find some veterans, and practice circling/strafing them while you fight…. as well as using any dodges, evades, blocks, and especially CC’s you have. You don’t need to kill them fast in this case, because you’ll be training yourself how to move and time your defenses… learn to move then learn to kill. When you move around mobs, even if just circling them, they hit you way less often. This might also require you to change your keybindings to more easily move/strafe, which is a very awkward change to get used to, but worthwhile.

If you are terrabad at movement, and can’t seem to get a grip on it, then I can suggest this more extreme solution… play the ftp mmo The Secret World. This mmo teaches movement in combat brilliantly… I’ve never seen better. I hated movement in combat before, and it took this game to get me to start doing it.

Second: Bad Builds. You have an aversion to some types of weapons… I do too… I think everyone does to some extent. But, if you’re not using the weapons you do like to their fullest advantage, then you can be severely hampering yourself. All weapons bring with them a general play style. Do the traits you’ve selected enhance your weapons and utility skills you’ve slotted? It’s important to select as many traits as you can that enhance the skills/weapons that you’re using. Don’t take a trait line if you’re only after a single trait in that line. On top of that, look for combos. Not just combo fields + finishers (although that’s an important thing to look for), but other skills that used together give you synergy. What utilities do you have that can be used with one of your weapon skills? Also, do you have means to get rid of conditions? Because you need those no matter what build you’re using.

Third: Bad Gear. This gets into the second possibility above just a bit, but is worth separating out. I’ve seen posts by players w/ lvl 80 toons who are using weapons that inflict a lot of DoT conditions, but instead equip berserker gear. Or the opposite. Double-check what your weapons actually do primarily for damage, and then check what your gear enhances.

As an addition to this third possibility, consider swapping all your gear out for tanking gear for a brief amount of time. If the weapons you’re using inflict primarily DoT conditions, then equip Dire. If the weapons you’re using inflict little/no DoT conditions, then equip Soldiers. THEN as you play, piece by piece, swap out for gear that gives better damage stats and less defensive stats until you find your equilibrium.

[Edit: unless you’re using celestial gear (never invest into celestial unless you’re absolutely sure it’s good for your build), try to stick to 3-4 stats… if you do more, you spread yourself too thin in stats and shortchange yourself in efficiency.]

Look at these 3 possibilities and see if any of them are the cause of your issues. I’m a solo player, too, and for the few classes I play I like to do a lot of build experimentation…. so from my own experience (as well as what I read that others post), I feel that each class has really good sustain, but it requires finding the stats, skills, and traits that work synergistically.

I hope that helps,

Consider some variant of the PS Warrior, too. It’s a bit expensive to get the runes/sigils… but you provide everyone many stacks of might, you also have banners and shouts depending on what you slot for utilities. You can swap from GS to mace/shield (or hammer) for interrupts/cc as needed. If you instead use bow, you can lay down a ton of fire fields.

There are other less expensive ways to make Warrior a support than PS… but there are options…. for instance if you stat for high healing power, you can put down banners for 100% regen up-time.

Gaile mentioned in another thread that she’ll be subitting that thread in a report today.

Getting back to your OT…. don’t roll another professions to the point of abandoning/deleting your enji… but, yeah, go ahead and give other professions a try. Not because enji is objectively bad (I don’t think it is at all), but because part of the problem might be that it doesn’t completely mesh well with your play style… and no amount of patches and updates are gunna fix that. I spent 3 years toughening out with my Guardian…. mostly happy, but never satisfied… and when I tried the Warrior half-a-year ago, it blew me out of the water.

With regards to the enji being in demand or effective, all the professions have gone and will go through that period of time. Necro, Guard, Warrior, and Mesmer come immediately to mind as ones who have. It will pass.

I posted here because it doesn’t seem that any devs have posted on our engineer forums and perhaps other professions may feel the same way.

Devs don’t generally post in the profession sub-forums. I suspect it’s because of the sheer volume of people who’d attack them… the profession subforums always come off to me as a place where you need really thick skin (ymmv).

There’s no point in painting such a target on yourself when you can go other places (main forums, reddit, etc), not be as much of a target, and still give/get valuable feedback.

Likely they’re reading the subforums (it’d be silly for them to not consider them a source of data), but don’t expect them to post in ’em very often if at all.

Vendor all option for Minor Runes

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: EphemeralWallaby.7643

EphemeralWallaby.7643

From the ama a couple days ago:

question:

Has there been consideration given to being able to flag minor runes and sigils as junk? Or a similar solution.

answers:

We have had some discussions on possible changes we could make to reduce the inventory clutter of these, but haven’t settled on a solution yet. In the meantime, we set up the Bloodstone Fen rewards to try and give comparable rewards with less inventory management required.

We have talked about a salvaging system for runes and sigils for years, but it’s a rather large project, larger than you might expect, so we haven’t gotten to it.

So, they’re aware of the problem with minor sigils/runes, and have been for a very long time. Your vendor-all idea for sigils/runes would circumvent the merchant system in place… probably a very difficult thing to program, too.

It was mentioned elsewhere in the ama that a lot of QoL changes are done on dev downtime… which I take as most QoL changes aren’t anything close to a priority in the dev to-do list.

Even though I no longer main a Guardian, the changes to that profession definitely raised my eyebrow (in a good way).

I’ve always enjoyed Guardian scepter/torch even though many people think it’s kitten. Pre-patch with the right traits (and no help whatsoever from sigils/runes) I could keep up around 20-22 stacks of might. Last night during my brief stint in the game I easily kept a full 25. It’s my hope that the smite becoming a might-granting symbol and the aa attacking just a bit faster will allow some people to look at a cool weapon they may have otherwise already dismissed.

I won’t be able to comment on S3, ‘cause at this time I’m determined to wait until it’s finished before I start it.

The difference is I’ve also had amazing success with all Settler’s gear (using Rune of the Undead specifically) on my Warrior. Berserker or Vanilla it works pretty well. The condi damage is higher than you’d think, and you can shrug off anyone’s bursts. Defense trait line is essential for Warrior sustain.

edit: also @Gardavil there are quite a few people in the Warrior sub-forum that claim they’re really good at besting Berserker Warriors with their Vanilla Warrior. So, I think you could be comfortable with assuming they’re at least on par w/ each other.

Stop your wining. Change is good, even this one.

That is silly. In general this change is good, but for some players this change has negative consequences. And those people could complain here.

Simplifying how infusions work and how to get AR is a great change. Everyone who has ever tried to explain infusions to someone else will be happy with the change. But players who used infusions not for AR but for other things have a good reason not to be so happy. And if you have your gear complete with AR the +5 infusion you get back in your mail from the amulet is useless.

Change almost always comes with bad as well as good.

We can approach change in one of three ways, really:

1) Glass is half full
2) Glass is half empty
3) What the kitten! I didn’t order this! Bring me the manager!

I kinda prefer #1. #2 is being negative over something you can’t control, and #3 just promotes negative reactions or otherwise being ignored by others.

Games are supposed to help teach agency. Stand up, brush yourself off, and figure out what to do with the reality before you.

And the dev response:

A: No plans for that. Those infusions are still functional, even if they’re not meta, and refunding laurels is tricky because those can convert to gold.

I was thinking about this statement last night… and I wonder if a partial refund would be the solution.

That way some laurels can be returned (better than none), but because it’s partial there’d be much less motivation to exploit the refund going forward.

Thoughts?

Why didn’t you give me back the actual VALUE (in Laurels) of the infusions you took out of my amulets across all characters!?

Now I have a bunch of infusions that I bought for Laurels that I no longer need, and I have to spend more Laurels to fill the new Enrichment slots.

Yeah this is the part I’m not too pleased about. Now I have a bunch of infusions in my mail I spent laurels on that I have no use for anymore. I would have preferred to get the laurels back.

If enough people express their frustrations at it, then there’s a chance things will be modified so you can get your laurels back. Save ‘em for a little while just in case. Ya’ never know.

(it also might not hurt to suggest to any friends you know who are also frustrated to constructively mention it on these forums)

Read the patch notes for your answers.

And, just because utility infusions are useless to you, that doesn’t mean they’re useless to others.

I want to play Season3 now and it’s 3:20am July26 in California! =(

I firmly believe that no one should ever see 3 o’clock twice in one day. It’s a philosophy that has served me very well.

it just shows that they aren’t keeping their health up and there are all sorts of other possible and likely reasons, including unexpected scaling, being used to healing, not being used to interruptions, etc.

And don’t forget the most likely of them all… combat takes second place to the microwave ding for a cooked hotpocket. Not everyone keeps their microwaves by their computer.

I’m predicting a new map with the LS3 update tomorrow.

Twitter

“Are you impatient for tomorrow’s #GW2 update? Pass the time by training your gliding masteries–we think you’ll find them helpful."

Gotta be some new place we’ll need to glide in or to.

Possibly updrafts added to core Tyria.

Why do Veteran Bristlebacks have breakbars?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

EphemeralWallaby.7643

Bah! You’re all ignoring a much bigger problem. How the heck does the bristleback fire so many projectiles? Putting aside how it’s able to fire projectiles at all, how does it fire so many? Where’s the mass coming from? If they can just defy physics they can sure give themselves a breakbar.

A wizard did it.

Glide-r-tron is backwards.

When you’re a rocket and you want to fly forward, you don’t point your exhaust in front of you.

The glide-r-tron is tilted in the wrong direction.

This is LITERALLY unplayable.

I prefer thinking about what possible fuel he’s using that is causing so much teal smoke. It makes me giggle.

I predict that I’ll have barely started LW3 when there will already be people posting that they’re out of content and bored.

Is GW2 dying? Just a question, no hate

I think this thread being up to 4 pages is more evidence that GW2 isn’t dying. Games that are dying don’t have much community activity on their forums, lol.

~EW

I’ve seen threads on dead games go for pages and pages because 3-4 people just use it to argue with eachother, the amount of pages means nothing, it depends on the number of unique users contributing to the thread.

Yeah, 3-4 people as opposed to all the people in this thread… and all the others in all the other threads to boot.

~EW

I haven’t played the game in months, yet i posted my opinion. I keep tabs on the forums in case the game gets better and I’m sure there are others just like that. Posting on the forums and actively playing are not the same.

Correlation does not equal causation, this is true… but that doesn’t mean it’s not an indication. My post above said “more evidence,” not “the only evidence.”

Also n=1 isn’t any worthwhile evidence. :P

edit:

edit: also have a look at the countless threads with <10 posts. This one is basically an outlier because it’s controversial and pulls in active players as well as former players who want to check on the state of the game.

You’re ignoring the diversity of commentators. Go to any sub-forum and you’ll find posters that don’t post much anywhere else but in one or two. It’s odd that you have to look at the smaller sub-forms to see the bigger picture of the myriad of people who are active on the forums and actively play. But, it’s there.

Regular looking boats on the outside, Asurans commanding golems with buckets on the inside.

This is why there was a push to invent air ships… less water.
