Right now is 1:10
Will we ever see something like 1gold=1gem?
If this will happen, devs will interfere with tyrian wealth to give us the ability to aquire what we are used to, spending the same time we spend right now?
Or one day a full armor set (or an instrument/gathering tool) from the trading post will be a really long term goal, something like ascended armor or legendaries?
What do you think?
To me store items were good mid term goals that keep me busy because I felt legendaries were out of my reach, but lately I feel like the effort to gain some gems is a bit excessive :S (probably only a subjective matter and I just reached my breaking point while others would still be ok with 1:1 even with the current economy).
If in the future you will gain gold at the same speed you’re able right now, at what ratio would you stop exchanging gold for gems?

Glad to inform you Arenanet has said that they want to implement it, but it doesn’t have an high priority.
Oh? This is good news. Do you happen to have a link to a press release or anything? I’d love to read ANet’s views on this.

Nice finding °-°

At launch for a short period, all races could use all other races cultural. This was changed, can’t remember the reason.
Then that Flamekissed armor came out in the Gemstore – which if you didn’t know the Light armor was Human Light T3 reskinned to be “flamey” – this caused a gargantuan uproar. ArenaNet rightfully caved in and admitted their mistakes, removed & changed all existing armor to what it is today.
As to why I can’t go to an Asuran vendor and buy that awesome T3 for my Human Warrior is simply unanswerable though. If all races could use all races armor, there would be no crying anywhere. Those seeking “exclusivity” in an online community are foolish.
The main issue with the flamekissed was not the fact that you could wear it on other races, most of the hate was because it was a cooler version of the already existing T3 and you could directly buy it from the gemstore, apply it without crystals and in the end spending less of what T3 user paid. So… many of them felt cheated.

Every boss should be able to counter stacking, but anet need to do something to their ridiculous health bar and stupid AI…
Not all players have the same level of skills or a good connection, and almost everyone is used to join pugs in dungeons.
Now imagine doing a run with people who, sometimes, find difficult even stacking, right now you can carry them anyway if everyone is in the right corner… but what if we are forced to run dungeons in the proper way?
Rage, a lot of rage, many people would simply stop running almost all the paths, the same people will start complaining that it’s too hard making money in this game (even more than now) and probably in a short time would simply quit playing.
I find running dungeons in the way they were ment a lot more fun of what we have now, but it’s also time-consuming, A LOT, if your party is not properly prepared.
Would you spend your time wiping 3-4 times, per path, doing Alpha daily?
Would you spend your time wiping 3-4 times, per path, doing Kholer daily?
Then you can say: play with your guildies, but I don’t believe anyone is so naive to think this would be a real solution for the whole community.
It’s like saying: you don’t want do be kicked out of the dungeon if the host leaves? Open the instance by yourself.
We need a concrete solution, not a palliative.
Anet need to change dungeons thinking that the current time is what players are disposed to invest, according to this rebalance all the rest.
Sadly it seems like anet is going in the opposite direction nerfing our damage, without revising the enemies.
I strongly hope this is just a first step, and after balancing our characters they will start balancing gamebreaking mechanics like: one-shot hits, epilectics effects that totally obscure enemies which already suffer from bad telegraphed attacks, mobs with no drop or junk quality loot, condition cap, etc.
Just my two cents.
- Mike Obrien
I support this too. +1
- Mike Obrien
When I need to complete a dungeon with a moderate amount of time, I rely on the AP requirement, it’s not elitist at all.
Asking for zerker is elitis, because it goes against the “play the way you want” philosophy, even if a zerker party of good players is clearly the meta and the most efficent one in most cases, brace yourself: you don’t need it.
I.e. Khol, you can kill him with any kind of party composition, yeah clearly you can kill him fast with giving a fgs to a warrior and why not getting some help by a guardian, that’s the easy way, but in the end all you need from your members is that they know when to dodge and how to manage their vigor.
AP can’t clearly indicate if a player has or not the skills you’re looking from him, BUT at least tell you that that player is in this game for some time.
AP are just a Time Indicator.
With time invested in the game increases the chance that a players learned a bit of his profession, that’s all.

@Akari Storm.6809
That game looks too kitten ambitious, I bet it will go P2W in no matter of time. :/
Back on topic, I don’t think GW2 can support that kind of customization, but probably they can still improve something.
- Mike Obrien
I like this idea, but I agree with Incul.
I would also add another option for the hair customization: let us disable the accessories.
- Mike Obrien
I’m not quite sure what you mean. I am not Rahn and GoogleBrendon most likely isn’t either. As a side note. If we wanted everyone to get on that ledge or anywere else on one of these pictures we would have posted a detailed explanation. I didn’t because I don’t want all these places blocked and fixed within a weeks time. Hope you understand.
This was Rahn:

I agree with you River, luckily weapons differently from armor should be easy enough for devs to produce, but if they can manage to create just few of them because the number of models grow per set, they could implement a system similat to Lineage 2 item enchanting for the more common weapons.
I think it would be a good gold sink and an appealing carrot for people who like to grind.
@Lanfear: mine was just a quick attempt >.> I would like to see a bit more variation too, but I think you should be still able to recognize from what they evolved.

A lot of guys from one of the guilds I’m in tease me for having wasted gold on this gs.
Honestly I like it anyway, so I don’t feel my gold was wasted, but I wanted to show them how I would have really liked this greatsword to be like.
It was just an attempt, but in the end I came up with what I think is a decent piece.
So, back to us, what if we could gradually and esthetically evolve our weapons in many steps with a slightly difference between each step.
We already saw something similar with the Spinal Blade back.
Would you like to see it used on weapons (and/or armor) too?

Legendaries are endgame items. You are not supposed to get them just for logging in.
Ture. You’re supposed to get them by paying them with real money and then logging in.
- Mike Obrien
What about when you make a new char to be lvl 80 in full ascended with all legendaries and 5k golds jesus you ppl are never happy there is already not much to do once you’re 80 ..
I don’t think we are necessarily the same people.
And also… players, here, usually don’t complain about the speed at which they can level their characters, but about the lack of expansions, about the living story, about the zergfest, about balance, about the absence of incentive for small guilds, etc.
I rarely see post like: we want more levels, we want another tier of gear to grind for, I leveled too fast using crafting…
I’m for this kind of addition because it’s not like you don’t need to play the game, so the one who is rewarded is still you, excluding some case of dissociative identity disorder connected to switching a virtual character °___°
Even if “the end game is the whole game” is a nice sentence , this is clearly false, at least untill they find how to balance rewards among all game types (try investing your time doing jumping puzzles, you will be alone and poor).
So many people want obviously start playing the perceived end game as fast as possible.
Being able to play the “same old content” that is rewarding with more than just one character contributes to relieve the sensation of staleness that you can experience from playing it for the whole time with just one character.
- Mike Obrien
You’re not losing anything, you still have a weapon that can change stats on the fly, for free, forever. […]
I strongly hope this will not the main selling point of legendaries in the future, they were ment to be basically just kittening nice skins.
Stats switch should be extended to ascended too, if we continue to repeat legendary = stats switch, ascended will remain an unpleasant addition to this game, forever (at least for many people who like build diversity and alts).
- Mike Obrien
(edited by Erick Alastor.3917)
I’m for account bound.
As already underlined we have scrolls, so nothing will change, it would be just a QoL feature.
We have account bound karma, tokens, (upcoming) wxp…
Progression is not just getting few skills/stats over time, but also mastering the way you use them, more skills early available more time to spend mixing/experimenting.
When you have many alts having to repeat the regular route become boring for a lot of players, that’s why people use to switch at the end of a dungeon run so often…
- Mike Obrien
I can’t see how an option to filter chat can harm people who are not willing to use it…
You have my support.
- Mike Obrien
How about all of them? Select the primary stat, then select the secondary and tertiary stats (no duplicates, of course). Sure, this would change crafting and ascended boxes a lot… but it’s a lot better than receiving a couple of nearly useless stat combos every year.
If that’s too much to ask, how about some combination of Healing Power, Boon Duration and Condition Damage?
On a personal note: I still hate you for what you did to Angorodon’s Gaze, Izzy. -.-
I like this idea a lot, but maybe you didn’t read about the removal of pvp Jewels.
Anet is afraid to incur in too many balancing issues, probably because they were traumatized by GW1 system back then.
The zerker nerf and the power-up for the full set of runes as well, will be a big hit to hybrid builds, so I suppose that now they want to open up to few more possibilities adding a couple of new sets.
This said, I believe that what you’re suggesting (unfortunately) will never happen. :/
I just hope that if, one day, they will introduce the subclass system it will not stall us in a monotonous role with one only viable build for each profession. Ascended are already harming us enough.
Back on topic: POWER/Precision/Vitality.
I would like to see something for condi too, but first they need to fix the cap.
- Mike Obrien
If I don’t want a tonic, can I get a gem refund for the purchase?
Customer support will be able to fulfill gem refund requests only for town clothes that become endless tonics. Such requests must be made after the Town Clothes system changes take effect; refund requests cannot be processed prior to the April Feature Build. Customer Support is not able to fulfill requests for refunds other than those related to Town Clothes that become endless tonics. This means that town clothes that become skins are not eligible for a refund.Quoted by said page
https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/45944258-Town-Clothesi suggest people read this page tbh
BUT if you read closer anything sold AS A SINGLE PIECE will become a skin like all of the regular armor. So only the FULL outfits are being changed to be a single skin, all of the individual piece items are going to function BETTER than they do right now.
People will still complain.
Oh °-° ty for the clarification (I feel sorry for the rest of the people >.>, but at least I’m safe)

They could some other options to preview window, for example, click to see running animation, or attack animation.
Yup, true, but this way we could also give a meaning to the HoM, even non gw1 players have access to the portal stone, but they can’t do anything inside that building right now.
- Mike Obrien
The new system looks a lot promising, but few things concern me:
1. Armor/Weapons often present clipping issues only while the character is moving (recent exemple is the Phalanx Warplate with Greatsword/Staff), so I think that the hero panel is too restictive.
- Solution: use the Hall of Monuments istance to let us see the armor/weapons equipped on our actual character.
2. After purchasing from the Store a full armor set, if you use just 1 piece and want to store the rest you have to pay again for transmutation crystals to utilize your already bought skins.
- Solution: automatically move our unused SKINS in the wardrobe and give us 1 credit for each piece.
p.s. English is not my mother tongue, so it is possible that I misunderstood something, if so please let me know.

The following is just my opinion:
Do you remember when the new top items and cool skins where introduced for a set amount of time spent running dungeons or doing dinamic events?
Ok, now forget about it and bow to your new RNG God and his flipping trading post prophets.
The rules are simple now: are you a casual player and not a pro (grinder)?
Work in real, buy gems with money and buy gold with gems.
Gold is your new meta across the game, your money is and has always been the meta for anet.
They could have followed the expansions route, but they preferred to focus on microtransaction, so this is what you get right now.
Sadly you can just accept it and due your lack of free time and money play with old skins and mediocre stats or leave.
- Mike Obrien
Smells like Maplestory’s skill system.
:(
/shrug.
Smells like GW1’s elite skill hunting or Final Fantasy’s blue magic hunting.
It would be like GW1 if you can acquire tomes by killing boss (with a fair droprate) and you will be able to resell them to orther players… I really hope this will have nothing to do with the gemstore.
The rate gold/gem is already pretty bad, if people start converting gold into gems to buy things like tomes/tomes pack I fear it will be impossible to play the cosmetic endgame anymore (at least without a huge amount of grind) considering that almost every new armor is usually sold inside the store.
I really hope this new system is really like the gw1 system.
edit: I just read that it will probably be similar to the unlocking for the skills, so we will just have to spend some skillpoints? If so I like it, I would still explore and hunt, but you can gain skillpoint by playing, so it would be a nice implementation.

IMO:
This nerf kills hybrid builds, not the berserker meta.
The new changes to the runes kills the build diversity as well.
Every time they introduce and/or remove something skill-related from this game all they say is “it’s for your own sake”, “it’s to help new players” and so on, but all they are doing is dumbing down the whole game.
(on a positive note, the new traits system and traits acquisition could be a good move)

I miss it a lot, there was SO MUCH MORE teamwork using the trinity in GW1 compared to the zerg-fest in GW2, not to mention better optimization/utilization of many areas of the game.
Even with the trinity a zerg would still be a zerg.
In my opinion the problem is the way they design the content and the zerker meta that is caused by the infinite pool of hp of mobs and one-shot mechanics (something that could not be fixed nerfing zerker, action that on the contrary would harm hybrid builds more than anything else).
- Mike Obrien
(edited by Erick Alastor.3917)
How does someone who has just purchased the game and has a level 34 character complete daily objectives in Iron Marches? That person has to miss out on the daily rewards.
Why should that player miss out on daily rewards?
Well it could be resolved unlocking this system only after a player reach lv. 80. °-°
I’m not totally ok with ZQ suggestion, but I feel that something should be done to bring back people in the open PvE.
Maybe you could still do your normal daily, but completing a suggested event/path could net you slightly more.
- Mike Obrien
Cool GW1 skins should be available for all GW2 players, and I say this even if I love more the first game than the latter.
The only thing I would complain about is how unsatisfactory it is the way this company tend to implement most of the best skins.
Store or stupid RNG seems to be the norm today, quite curious given that dungeon tokens where introduced exaclty to avoid to turn this mmorpg into a dice game.
- Mike Obrien
I get that this is a F2P and obviously it benefits them more to sell skins, but this is getting old.
Every time I read this my brain want to cry.
But to quote myself:
In my opinion GW1 was the only one that followed the B2P model.
GW2 is not sustaining itself selling new expansions, on the contrary it is focusing on the gemstore not only selling skins but also QoL items, so at most we can say that is an hybrid B2P or a F2P with an entry ticket of 40€. Even on this forum it often happens to see people saying that GW2 is F2P, so I suppose it’s not about the label but about the perception.
This said, I sincerely hope that it will turn back to the old pure model, with really few QoL items, some skins and a lot of real content that you can play at your own peace.
All we can do is wait and see where they want to head, it is not like you have to pay to check it.
- Mike Obrien
Depends on what you mean with strong.

I’m not at big fan of killing people to show people how wrong is to kill people.
I thought that Kas (because of Jory) would kill her, but I had to stomp her even if I didn’t want to.
Yeah it’s a game where you kill almost any kind of enemy, but at least for really important decisions like this I would have liked a choice (they could have circumvent future dialogues problems talking of how “we”, as a group, defeated Scarlet).
But I understand why anet did this, so many people hated her and wanted the satisfaction to press that F button, this and also the expressed need to feel more like a protagonist of the story, it’s just that I was not so angry at her, I wanted to imprison her or at least try with no success to convince Kas that we need her alive to collect more informations.
Anyway what’s done is done. Again, no hating on anet, because at least they gave to players what so many of them they asked for.

Lol if you don’t like “grinding” go to your comp and /uninstall any “MMO” you have dl’d. MMO’s are about character progression in every sense of the meaning (at least they’re supposed to be). Go find yourself a nice xbox game to play and move on. This is NOT the genre for you.
Except for that gw2 was sold saying those kind of things:
“We want Guild Wars 2 to be a game like Halo or a COD: you turn it on, look at a list of games, then you get in and you play. It’s all very easy to understand, and that’s what we’ve built.”
Edit: if this didn’t implied the absence of the gear grind (and it could be, given the fact that a lot of anet sentences are pretty vague) then where is the news?
A game with different kind of content to play with the equip of the proper level?
Nothing new. If this is the case I think it’s weird to emphasize something like this o_O.

Yeah a goal and grind are different but they are interlinked. What makes a goal worthwhile? How easy and fast you can achieve it or how hard and tedious?
And all come down to two keywords: hard and tedious.
In my very own vision one of them is a wondeful word (if not mixed with open world content and pugs…), the other one it is not.
